You Are The Butterfly, Think About The Effect You’re Having

From Fichte to Lorenz, many meteorologists and philosophers have acknowledged the effect the present can have on the past. We’ve seen the butterfly effect in literature and movies time and time again. You know the scenario; the main character travels back in time and makes a small change with catastrophic results. But, have you ever thought of applying the butterfly effect to your life? Of course, you aren’t going to be traveling back in time. But, the effect can be simpler than that.

Every choice that you make, good or bad, has an impact on your future. From what you choose to eat to how you act throughout the day, everything counts towards where you’re heading. If that’s the case, why do so many of us live each day as though it’s inconsequential? With the butterfly effect in mind, you should spend every day trying to make your future as good as it can be! If you’re anything like most people, you don’t do that as it stands. But, it’s time to make a change. If you need convincing, here are a few ways your actions now can affect your future self:

As your job takes up the majority of your days, we’ll start there. Your job offers the clearest evidence of the effect that your actions have. You achieved the job you have through your qualifications or lack of them. You got those qualifications by making choices in your early life and acting on them. Or, you made different choices that mean you don’t have the skills that you need.

It may be that you made the right decisions and are happy in your career. Or, you made the wrong ones and ended on a career path that doesn’t suit you. Either way, your past is what shaped where you are now. Think back to what caused you to make those choices. Was it where you were living, who you were friends with, or something that you saw on television? The smallest thing can shape the largest part of our lives. Often, a huge choice has the most inconsequential start. That goes to show how much of an impact the tiniest decisions can have.

Choices don’t only affect your career, either. Though the path of impact is harder to follow in other aspects of your life, it’s there just the same. Take your teeth, for example. The way you look after your teeth comes from your mother, who learned from her mother and so on. If you care for your teeth the way you were taught, you should have no dental problems as you grow older. But, if you choose to break from the path your mother set, you could run into problems. Say you skip brushing for one day. A piece of food lodges between your teeth and starts to rot them. That piece then causes weakness, which grows, even if you brush every other day. Then, you decide not to clean again, and the weakness gets worse. Before you know it, you’re faced with the task of finding an oral surgeon and having serious work done. All because you didn’t brush for one day! This may seem like an extreme example, but it’s a good way to show how important each decision can be.

fly1

Flickr Image

This theory also applies to your health. Let’s be honest, we all make unhealthy choices more often than we would like. For the most part, though, we laugh them off as though they’re nothing. There’s no need to go into too much detail here because you get the gist by now. But, again, each wrong choice adds up. When someone is diagnosed with an illness, it’s often their unhealthy choices that got them there. Those choices can be anything as simple as eating the wrong foods or smoking for a year when you’re in your twenties. Remember, cause and effect. Everything you put into your body has an impact. It may be years before you see that effect, but that doesn’t mean that you should put it out of your mind.

fly2

So tempting!

So, what’s the point in all this? In short, it’s time you started making the right decisions. Instead of laughing about your bad choices, acknowledge the effect that they could have. If you always keep your future in mind, you’re less likely to make unnecessary mistakes. Next time you’re faced with a choice, take the time to weigh up what it could mean for your future self. That’s not to say you need to live in the future. Living in the present is always best. But, the right choice for your future self is often the right thing for your present self, too.

And, you don’t have to wait for a choice to arise before you make a change, either. You have the power to make your own changes. If you’re in a job that you don’t love and are now thinking you’re stuck, think again. Look at where you are, and acknowledge if it doesn’t make you happy. That can be your moment of impact. Then, learn what you need to do to achieve the new job you want. Set your sights on a new job and do what you need to get it. Sign up for evening courses and send CVs to the right people.

Visit a dentist regularly to ensure your teeth stay in good health. And, make sure to keep up with your brushing routine. Remember, even one missed brush can lead to problems! Think, too, of your health. Make positive changes by embracing a healthy lifestyle. Find out what foods you should be eating. Cut out bad habits, such as drinking and smoking. Think, too, about finally getting around to that exercise routine you’ve been avoiding. All these things will ensure that your health improves and stays good in the future. Anytime you feel your habits slacking, remind yourself how important it is to get it right. There’s no time like the present!

Clichés Can’t Be Wrong: What Pet Should You Get?

Standard

When it comes to choosing a pet, not everyone has a clear idea of which companion to choose. Indeed, there is a big difference between a cat and a dog, but there is an even bigger difference between owning a parrot or owning a pug, so the choice of your pet companion is a serious one. Choosing the wrong pet for your personality might not only result in unhappy social issues on your end, but you are also risking the happiness of an innocent animal. So, while there isn’t an exact guide on the best pet for your lifestyle, there are some common personality traits among pet owners that can help you to find out whether you are more of a fish fan or a cat lady.

You Love A Small And Lively Home – Rabbit: Around a third of all rabbit owners tend to describe themselves as creative and geek chic homeowners. But what unites all rabbit owners is the desire of a lively home at very little cost. They want to have the excitement of a pet peacefully hopping under the sofa without having to develop an authority figure to control their furry friend. The other advantage is the low investment of rabbit food as this is mostly odorless and easy to manage. So if you fancy a ball of fluff without concession or the problems of a dependent pet that relies on you for playful times, a rabbit is what you need!

pet5.png

SO. CUTE.

You Fear Long-Term Commitments – Hamster: For those who want a pet but don’t want to invest too many years of their lives with an animal, you should be looking at small animals such as mice, hamsters, rats, and other rodents. Their life expectancy rarely goes beyond two years, which is very short in the realm of pets, but they have all the fun of a bigger animal. They are very intelligent, too, so be prepared for them to escape from their cages! At this subject, you should have a look at the cage reviews at Love Your Pet to find the ideal cage for your rodent. Rodents are very playful and affectionate once they get to know you: Most people even let them roam free at home!

Wittle baby!!

You Are A Solitary Type – Cat: While cats are by definition the animals of the old single lady, in truth, they are a little more than an option against loneliness. Cats are independent animals who can develop very strong bonds with their owners. It’s not uncommon for cats to lick their owner’s hair as a way to show affection. They have some gross habits, too, as they bring back dead animals as a gift. But if you stick with cats, they are loyal, loving, and fun but they tend to dislike meeting new people. A cat is the ideal companion if you don’t like going out or if you are involved in a small social circle.

You Love Going Out And Exercising Outdoors – Dog: If you are keen to go out and make new friends, you have more of a dog personality. Most dogs love the company of people and while they are loyal and protective of their family – or of the family of their owners – they are always happy to meet new people and make new friends. Most dogs enjoy running and playing outside, so it’s best to have at least a medium sized back yard if you are planning to get a dog. You can also choose to exercise with your dog to keep both of you healthy.

Dogs will require training to be obedient and behave safely outside of the house, but this is something that you can easily achieve with the right puppy school. And, remember that a dog can be prone to making messes in the house so you will want to take a look at Golyath and ensure that you are well stocked with your sanitizing wipes and distilled water to keep your home sanitary. This is so important for animals and humans alike!

You Are A Creative Soul – Parrot: Parrots are incredibly bright and playful. It’s not uncommon for parrots to play with other animal species and many parrot owners have seen their friends throwing a ball at a dog just like a human being would do – admittedly with a little less strength than a person, it’s a bird after all. Parrots are happier in a household where they can interact with everyone and everything and where they can learn. Parrot owners tend to be on the creative side. Writers, designers, artists, and much more. It is said that parrots and their owners keep learning from each other throughout their lives.

pet7.png

🙂

You Prefer Peaceful Aesthetics – Fish/Reptile: If you are not keen on the company, but you want something nice to look at, you should be looking at a fish or reptile as a pet. Aquarium pets tend to keep a peaceful atmosphere in the house, as they stay in their glassed box until you take them out. You can decorate their tanks as you wish and the water is sure to have a calming effect.

How To Incorporate Your Love Of Beauty Into Your Career

How To Incorporate Your Love Of Beauty Into Your Career

These days, makeup is becoming a hotter and hotter trend every day. From contouring to strobing and knowing which shade of Kylie’s liquid lipsticks is which and whether or not they’re better than Colourpop, we really have our work cut out to know what exactly is going down in the world of beauty. But if it comes naturally to you, if you spend hours on YouTube looking at the latest beauty gurus before learning to perfect your own cut creases, then a career in makeup and beauty might just be for you. Here are some ideas to help get you started:

Retail: If you love talking to people and you really know your stuff about makeup, then you could consider working in retail. From high end specialist beauty stores to department store beauty counters, you can find a perfect match for you whether you love drugstore brands or you refuse to touch your face with a beauty blender that isn’t the ‘official’ one. A lot of people who work in beauty retail spend their time recommending products to others, so it’s important that you really know your stuff about what primers work for which skin types and how to boost people’s confidence.

beauty1.png

Lil Red loved working beauty retail!

Treatments: Working in a salon is perfect for people who love talking to their customers and befriending them – not only will this improve both of your days but it’ll also help you to get plenty of repeat business! Make sure that you’re well trained in whatever beauty area you want to focus on, whether that’s styling hair or giving a waxing course a go. It’s important to be fully qualified in all areas if you work at a beauty salon, particularly if you want to charge good prices and have people continue to return for some pampering.

beauty2.png

Ahhhhh 🙂

Makeup Artists: If you’ve been married, been to prom, or any other sort of special day, then you’ll know just how valuable the skills of makeup artists are. Makeup artists are able to pick out people’s best features and emphasize them to make them look like an even more gorgeous, airbrushed version of themselves. Make sure that you’ve trained and that you’ve practiced on plenty of people other than yourself to get a full range of looks in your portfolio and set up a site that looks fully professional, along with making business cards to hand out at networking events to get the word out about your craft.

Special Effects: If you’ve always had a flair for the dramatic, then special effects makeup might be for you. Some people spend time perfecting their highlight, but people who are into special effects have probably spent way more time making themselves up to look like various celebrities and attaching zips to their faces for grotesque Halloween looks. Practice by yourself at home to start with – buy books and watch tutorials on how to create the perfect wound or bruise effect. Then, start investing in special products that will help you build up your skills. Finally, enlist some very forgiving friends who don’t mind walking around looking as though they’re horribly scarred for you to practice on!

February 2017 Finishes

February 2017 Finishes

Hi everyone and happy weekend! The month of February seemed to whizz by and I’m thankful for it because I love the spring time so I am SO ready for March. I didn’t use up too many products this month but I did get to use a lotion from one of my favorite Bath & Body Works scents so take a look at my empties and then let’s discuss:

feb1.jpeg

Would I Use Again?

  • Bath & Body Works French Lavender & Honey lotion: YES!!!
  • The Body Shop Fiji Green Tea exfoliater: YES
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E moisturizer: YES

Why/Why Not?

B&BW Lotion: French Lavender & Honey has skyrocketed to one of my favorite Bath & Body Works scents. My best friend got me this for my birthday last year, I think, and I just now got around to using it. It’s weird, because normally I don’t like lavender – I despise it, actually. But this scent is the farthest thing from lavender that I can think of! It has all of these delicious floral hints to it but the honey scent softens it into something that’s so light and pretty and I just love it. I really want to get the eau de toilette of it soon because the bottle is so pretty and, of course, it smells delicious! I finished this product after six uses.

TBS Exfoliater: The Fiji Green Tea scent from The Body Shop is admittedly not my favorite but I do love using their exfoliaters when I’m shaving. This scrub got passed down to me by my mom as it came in the gift set that she got because she loves the perfume. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get this exact scent again but I wouldn’t say no to it either. The Body Shop’s exfoliaters give me such an exact and close shave, so the scent doesn’t matter too much to me! I finished this travel sized product in three uses.

TBS Moisturizer: You guys already know how much I love The Body Shop’s Vitamin E moisturizer. This cream is so light and soft yet lush and hydrating and it always leaves my skin feeling perfect. It absorbs quickly, smells great, and sits well under makeup. What more could you want in a moisturizer? This product took me about a month and a half to finish.

Although I didn’t finish up too many bath and body and skin care goodies this month, I still got to use some of my favorite products to treat myself with so I would still say that the month of February was very successful! I am currently using some Philosophy products that I got gifted with so I’m excited to tell you all about them in March!

So there you have it, my February 2017 Finishes! What products did you use up this month? What are some of your favorite scents from TBS or B&BW? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

DOGS!!

Hi everyone and happy weekend! I realize that it’s been a long time since I’ve blessed all of you with some precious pics of my pooches so I figured that now would be a great time to do so! Our darling Golden Retriever, Gem, and Terrier mix, Ollie, are doing just swell and are as cute as ever. We are all currently itching to give both of them a new little brother or sister and by we I mean everyone but my dad – but we’re working on him! But, of course, we are perfectly happy with our two pups because two is company and three is a crowd. 😉

gemgem1ollie

^^^ I LOVE THEM!!

Pic #1: Gem and I just chilling and watching My 600 Lb. Life. *insert cool emoji with sunglasses here*

Pic #2: So my mom taught Gem this trick where she’ll “clean up” her toys and put them all into one spot, which is usually her doggie bed. Of course we reward her for this sweet ass trick so now Gem will just sit there with a toy in her mouth until we give her a treat and it’s basically the most ridiculous and adorable thing ever.

Pic #3: Ollie just snuggling up to Patrick Starfish! A weird fact about my family is that we’ve legitimately had that stuffed animal for well over thirteen years and, I kid you not, it has been sitting on that freaking chair THE ENTIRE TIME. Lol, Patrick has become a signature staple of our living room, like our Christmas tree that we still have yet to take down. I like to think that it just adds to our quirky charm! 😉

You guys already know how much I love my DOGS and now I want to learn about yours. What kind of dog do you have? What is his or her name? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Major Body Shop Haul

Major Body Shop Haul

Hello everyone and happy Thursday! So The Body Shop recently had a forty percent off sale online that I took full advantage of on Valentine’s Day. I decided a while ago that the next time TBS had a good percentage off sale, that I would order a year’s supply of all of my must have products so that I wouldn’t have to spend the year chasing the best deals. Not only did I get all of my necessities for a fraction of the cost, but I also got two body butters for FREE! Take a look at my haul and let’s discuss:

major.jpeg

The Haul:

  • 4 Vitamin C Skin Boosts
  • 1 Nutriganics Eye Cream
  • 2 Vitamin E Moisturizers
  • 2 Brush On Radiances
  • 2 British Rose Body Butters (free!)
  • 2 sample products (also free!)

The Total: $110

So normally I don’t like to post about how much I spend on myself BUT this was such a great deal that I really felt the need to talk about it in its full extent. For about twelve dollars a pop, I was able to get everything that I needed (for the most part) for an entire year. That’s huge. Not only was I completely thrilled with the amount that I spent, but I was also so happy to get two free body butters out if it! For Valentine’s Day, TBS was offering a free British Rose body butter, lotion, shower gel, or bubble bath with a fifty dollar purchase so of course I went with the body butter as it was the best value. I can’t say that I totally love the British Rose scent but beggars can’t be choosers and they will still be a nice addition to my lotion hoard!

You guys already know that I love to shop and I rarely have a problem with spending money BUT I always look for the best deal when I’m making a purchase. I really felt like I was getting the best value for my money with this online haul. I mean, 110 bucks for a year’s supply of your skin care necessities? Hello! Of course the moisturizers will need restocked but that’s what Target and TJMaxx is for as well as my June birthday!

I am so SO happy with my Major Body Shop Haul and am looking forward to a year of barely having to make any skin care purchases. That in itself made this order money well spent! What are some of your favorites from TBS? What skin care item can you not live without? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

4 Ingredients Of A Comfy Home

Standard
4 Ingredients Of A Comfy Home

No matter what kind of home you live in or where, one of the essentials that everyone can agree on is that being comfortable is one of the most important things of all. The home, after all, should be a place where you can relax and unwind and you can only properly do that if it is comfortable for everyone who lives there. Achieving this kind of comfort, however, can often be surprisingly difficult to do – but with a little focus and some understanding of what is important, it is probably easier than you think. In this article, we are going to look at four of the main ingredients that you need for a comfier home:

Furniture: The furniture that you choose to have, particularly in any family or communal areas, is hugely important in keeping the home as comfortable as possible. It is definitely worth spending a good amount of time trying to find the best furniture possible. You might be surprised at how many considerations there are when it comes to choosing furniture. In general, you need to find items which are comfortable enough for everyone to rest in, but not so soft that they swallow you up. You also need to think carefully about their placement around the home. Placement affects the overall feeling of the home greatly, so take care on this front.

Your furniture should last you a long time if you take good care of it. Keep up to date on cleaning, dusting, and polishing and try to avoid eating or drinking on couches and armchairs. If you favor a leather armchair, consider an all-in-one leather care cream and it will continue to look as good as the day you brought it home!

Temperature: There is nothing worse than not being able to control the temperature in your home. It goes without saying that you want the ability to ensure that you are warm in the winter and cool in the summer – but even today, surprisingly few homes offer this ability. If you are keen to introduce this into your home in a big way, then using something like fujitsu heat pumps might be the best solution for you. With heat pumps, you can ensure that your home is just the right temperature at all times – something which is very important in keeping cozy at any time of year.

Light: Although it is not often considered in this respect, light does have a part to play in keeping you comfortable in your own home. If the light levels are too much or too little, it can lead to a feeling of restlessness – and that is not what you want when you are trying to relax in your home in the evening. Make sure that you are able to control the lighting in your home as much as possible. The best solution here is probably to use dimmer switches, as these give you the fullest possible control out of anything else on the market.

comfy1

One single bulb is not the best bet, though!

Space: Just as important, of course, is how the space is set out in your home. You need enough space to be able to have personal space around everybody, but you don’t want so much that the home no longer feels inviting or cozy. Achieving this balance is difficult and takes some time, but it is well worth it once you find it.

Change These 3 Things For A New Kitchen Today

Change These 3 Things For A New Kitchen Today

Of all the rooms in the house, the kitchen is often the one which people care about the most. Even when you are selling a property, you will find that people tend to go straight to the kitchen to see what it is like. For this reason, it also adds a lot of value to a home, particularly if it has been renovated. If you are looking to improve your kitchen, then there are a great number of things that you can do towards that end. Fortunately, many of them are not too expensive, so you can easily give yourself a brand new kitchen even if you are on a tight budget. Let’s take a look at three things that you can change to give yourself the look and feel of a fresh and new kitchen today:

Appliances: Although they might be strictly practical, it must be said that the appliances in any kitchen do also add to the overall look and feel of the room. There are many great styles which you can choose from these days and it is worth bearing that in mind when you are thinking about changing around your kitchen. Changing the appliances is especially worthwhile if you have had the current ones for a long time. Doing so will also mean that you have a more effective kitchen in practical terms. There is nothing better than a brand new oven for baking, after all. Change your appliances, and you should find that the whole room looks much different in no time at all.

While it might not be the same as a full fledged appliance makeover, you might find that getting your current appliances tuned up could have a similar effect. Whether appliances are brand new or now functioning as they should will still improve your cooking experience. Simply enter a search for “Park City Appliance Repair” (or your local area) to see how the pros can get your appliances working better than ever.

kitch2

Very nice!

Flooring: There is practically no limit to what you can do with your kitchen floor. If you are looking for a change, then your only real problem will be that you are spoiled for choice. However, that being said, there are some particular favorites which do seem to come around time and again, so it might be worth keeping them in mind. For example, you might want to think about getting some laminate flooring installed, which looks especially nice in kitchen areas. When you update your flooring in this way, the whole room can seem to take on a new life altogether. This is definitely worthwhile if you are looking for a change which is inexpensive and fast.

Counters: The counter tops, where you do most of your cooking, are an important part of the overall look of the kitchen. If you are a fan of the old and rustic feel, then going for some dark, deep mahogany or oak might be a fun way to add fresh life to your kitchen. Or more practically, and no less attractively, you could consider using marble or granite for those counter tops. Whatever you go for, you have that brand new feeling to look forward to. It doesn’t come around that often, so make the most of it and enjoy it! With any luck, your kitchen will be looking like a whole different space in no time at all.

When you are considering countertops, don’t forget about backsplashes to really help make them pop. This can be as bold or as subtle as you would like and is a project even a novice DIYer can do. Explore guides for laying tiles in patterns if you want to try and put your skills to the test!

Whatever you go for in terms of appliances, flooring, and counters, you have that brand new feeling to look forward to. It doesn’t come around that often, so make the most of it and enjoy it! With any luck, your kitchen will be looking like a whole different space in no time at all.

Warning Signs It’s Time To Leave Your Job

Warning Signs It’s Time To Leave Your Job

It’s important to remember sometimes why it is that you work. You work so that you can live and enjoy your life. But for too many people, their job is the reason that they hate their life, and it seeps into everything else that they do. It ends up ruining their evenings, weekends, and holidays.

According to Ryan Kahn, the star of the MTV show Hired, people generally fall into two categories. For some people, the reasons why they should leave their job are completely visible. They get to the point where they recognize the need for change and that the time has come to move on and send resumes with cover letters to new employers. But for other people, the reasons aren’t so obvious. Many people, it turns out, sleepwalk through their lives, not taking account about how they really feel about their work and not recognizing that it is making them deeply unhappy.

These people suffer from what is known as a thinking rut. They compartmentalize their lives, thinking that they cannot grow beyond the walls that they have erected for themselves. The good news is that there are some common warning signs that are a clear indication that it’s time to leave your job, some of which are shared below:

You’re Not Passionate About What You Do: It’s pretty hard to get up day after day and go do a job that you don’t care about. In fact, it’s soul destroying. When you’re not enjoying work, you suddenly become aware that time is passing. This creates resentment because you’d much rather be doing something else that is fulfilling.

Lynn Taylor, an author who writes about office politics, says that people should think back to how they felt the day that they were given their current position. Usually, they feel utterly elated for having secured the position and they are really excited about the possibilities that the new job will bring for their professional careers and their lives in general. When this passion is gone, she says, people are rarely able to tap into their true potential.

warn1

Blahhh!

You Wake Up Miserable Every Morning: In simple terms, this means that you hate work. You’d rather be doing anything other than the job and you only haul yourself out of the house because you know you’ve got to pay the bills. This is no way to live one’s life, especially when there are countless other career options that you could look in to.

You’re Consistently Negative: Another warning sign is that you feel negative or anxious all the time, especially on Sunday evenings, before you have to head back out on a Monday morning. This feeling is an unconscious warning from your mind that all is not well with your job. Often, job stress leads to family stress which can harm your relationships in the long term.

Your Performance At Work Is Suffering: Another way you know that the time has come for you to leave your job is when your performance starts to tank. People who get worse at what they do over time are usually suffering from an extreme case of apathy. Often, you’ll know that you’re completely capable of carrying out the tasks that have been asked of you, but you don’t bother to do it to the best of your ability because you’re no longer willing or able to put your energies into projects for the company.

Your Work/Life Balance Has Disappeared: Different people have different tolerances when it comes to work. Some people like to work every hour that God gives, while others would prefer to work as short a time as possible. Many companies, however, don’t see things from the worker’s perspective. Instead, they demand lots of their time. If you find yourself not able to commit to the hours that are being asked of you, it might be time to consider taking another job. If you’re finding that you’re unable to spend the time with your family that you’d like – again, it might be time to find another job.

Your Duties Have Increased, But The Pay Hasn’t: Some unscrupulous employers will try to give you extra responsibilities but not increase your pay. Taylor says that this is a common tactic used by companies to try to keep their wage bills down. Of course, you have to be careful when it comes to things like pay. Sometimes the company can’t afford to pay more, simply because it isn’t doing enough business. But more often than not, the company is doing fine, it’s just not willing to increase your salary. This is a sign that the company doesn’t respect you and that you should take your talents elsewhere.

Make Immediate Savings On Those Home Bills

Standard
Make Immediate Savings On Those Home Bills

For a lot of us, we only truly see how much we’re spending when we decide to put together a budget. We might think that we’re doing well and then suddenly realize just how much we’re spending on standard household bills. If you want to free up a little cash, there’s a good chance that those bills are the place where you could do just that. Spending less per month isn’t too difficult, either. A few changes and an investment or two could result in you keeping more money per month:

Things Are Heating Up: It should be no surprise that among the biggest bills for most people are those pesky heating bills. Especially in the winter, they can be gigantic. The same goes for keeping the home cool in the summer. But while you do need to control those temperatures, you don’t necessarily need to spend quite as much on it. For one, you should look at how well airflow travels through the home. Air vents in the home clogged by dust can stop the heat from traveling through the home, just as it can stop the cool from dispersing when you’ve got the AC on. Thoroughly insulating the home is important, too. Make sure that you caulk any sources of drafts in the home and pay particular attention to the roof. A missing tile or two won’t only get in the way of your attempts to control your environment but are a major risk of damp and mold, too.

Get Appliance Savvy: Heating and cooling aren’t all that can impact the energy bill. All the different appliances and electronics have a big effect, as well. If you need any new appliances or fixtures, then you should do your research. Things that you can look into include spotting a more efficient fridge thanks to Energywise rating labels to giving traditional bulbs the boot for LED lighting, instead. You also need to know when it’s a good idea to replace an old appliance. Things begin to work less than their best over time and that goes for their ability to stay energy efficient, too. It’s an investment, but one that will save you more money in the long-term.

Give Your Service Providers A Call: Besides the resources that you use to keep the home livable, you have to think about all of those other little services and subscriptions that you have, too. Take a look over your bank statements for the past month. It’s easy to forget that you might have subscribed to that video service or this audio book library. If you’re not using them, it might be time to call up and cut them off. Then, there are those deals like your TV packages and internet providers. With a bit of research, you should figure out if there are any better deals on the market. If there are, you don’t necessarily have to make the switch.
