You’ve Got Mail

You’ve Got Mail

Shhhh…No one tell Kate from Ankhor You about this post because it’s about Dunkin’ Donuts and she despises it!! BUT can we just talk about the sample pack that I got in the mail from them this week FO FREE?! Take a look:

dd1dd

About a month ago, I got an email from Dunkin’ asking if I wanted to try the picks that are in the running to becoming their new flavor, Blueberry Pancake, Dulce De Leche, and Coconut Caramel. In my mind, they were just going to send me one of the choices to try, but I figured “why not” and put my info in, anyways. So, imagine my surprise when I opened my mailbox to find a package from Dunkin’ with a sample of all three flavors in the contest!

I was so excited about this package. I love getting mail and I had completely forgotten that I even ordered the samples to begin with, so it was a total pick me up treat. Not only that, but my sample pack was packaged so nicely and they also included a coupon for the next time that I make a Dunkin’ run. Score!

I wouldn’t necessarily call these packs a “sample”, though. For my coffee drinking purposes, I could easily get two uses out of each flavor option. That’s a hell of a…sample. I can’t think of another word to call it! We’ll go with sample. Anyways, that’s a pretty sweet deal – I literally entered my shipping info and got SIX pots of coffee for myself out of it.

I’m looking forward to trying all of these flavors and I will keep you guys updated on which one that I like the best! I’ve gotta say, though, it’s probably going to be Blueberry Pancake that takes the (pan)cake for me – I love me some blueberry flavored coffee! But the Coconut Caramel and Dulce De Leche each sound enticing too, so we’ll see!

Which flavor out of the three samples that I got sounds the best? Which store/restaurant/coffee shop gives out the best freebies and coupons? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Carolina Belle Of The Ball Blazer

Carolina Belle Of The Ball Blazer

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday! If there’s one style of jacket that I love, it’s the blazer. From fitted and sexy to slouchy but chic, you can really wear a good blazer day or night and it always looks like you’re dressed to the nines. Blazers are always an excellent option when I’m working in the field of helping people with special needs because it says professional but still casual and cool, especially since I normally just wear a plain old t-shirt or sweater underneath.

Obviously, I never say no to buying any particular type of clothing, but this rings the truest for blazers. It can be gosh-darn difficult to find just the right one so when a keeper comes up, it’s best to snag it ASAP. This fall, the velvet trend is hitting the clothing stores hard. I can’t say that I completely love it – BUT I do love the gorgeous navy blue velvet blazer I picked up from TJMaxx this weekend! Take a look:

^^^ So. PRETTY!

Normally, when I’m shopping at TJs, I stay pretty well parked in the Junior’s department. However, I was helping my mom scour the women’s section this time, because I love picking clothes out for her. So, it certainly came as a shock when I found something for myself in the department that I would have never thought of looking in before!

I. LOVE. THIS. BLAZER.

Everything about this jacket is just perfect to me – the retro style, the metallic sheen of the fabric, the gorgeous floral print. This blazer seriously looks like a women’s smoking jacket and I am totally obsessed. As you all know, I live for all black everything clothing BUT this Carolina Belle beauty is the exception. Dare I say, I like this blazer even more in its deep navy hue and pewter detail glory – and that’s really saying something.

Aside from the magnificent color palette of my new find, which gives it so much edge without even trying, my other favorite part of this blazer is the fit. I am a solid Small in the Junior’s department (Sometimes Extra Small, depending on what I’m trying on.), so I was pretty worried that a women’s size jacket wasn’t going to fit me well. WRONG. I found my blazer in an Extra Small and the fit was totally divine. I often opt for the slouchy, boyfriend style blazer so it was fun to try something that was more fitted and sultry. 😉

My Carolina Belle blazer is going to be such a cool, unexpected piece for fall and I am so excited to start incorporating it into my outfits immediately. Of course, this will look fabulous with jeans and dresses, but I am most looking forward to pairing my new blazer with my mustard yellow A-line skirt and tights for a fashionable fall work outfit. Can’t wait!

So there you have it, my Carolina Belle Of The Ball Blazer! What is your favorite style of jacket? How would you style my new wardrobe addition? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Liebster Award #11

Liebster Award #11

Hi everyone and happy Sunday!! I am so happy to say that lifewithlilred was nominated for its eleventh Liebster Award by my friend, Trix, at The Confessions Of A Cosmetics Addict. Trix’s blog is fairly new but it is already filled with excellent posts so do be sure to check it out. I so enjoy chatting with Trix’s lovely self and I know that all of you will join me in welcoming her to the blogosphere! Now, let’s get on to the award rules:

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger that nominated you!
  • Answer 11 questions from the blogger that nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 blogs.
  • Ask the bloggers 11 questions.

Q & A:

Do you collect anything? If so, what? Shoes, shoes, shoes. I have over fifty pairs and I just might have bought some more on “accident”. Whoops!

If a film was made of your life, which famous actor/actress would you have play the part of you and why? Mmm, probably Helena Bonham Carter, because she’s quirky and unique enough to embrace the weirdness that is Lil Red. And, not to mention, that she’s drop dead gorgeous!!

What do you consider to be your best quality? My charming personality and staggering good looks. 😉 😉 😉

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why? Honestly, nothing. I like myself and am proud of myself. If I was asked that question a few years ago, I would have replied with “everything”. But hard work goes a long way, and I’m finally okay with myself after twenty-three years.

How do you prefer to spend your spare time? Writing, hanging out with my loved ones, EATING, shopping, reading, and watching movies.

What are your favorite makeup brands and why? I love NYX because they have the best matte lipsticks and I’m definitely a CoverGirl at heart, as well.

Recommend a favorite book and/or film and tell me why you recommend it. I recommend Pan’s Labyrinth to everyone. I love the work of the director, Guillermo Del Toro, and I think this film is him at his best. Pan’s Labyrinth really is an adult fairy tale and I could watch it every day and never grow tired of it.

Where would you most like to visit and why? France, so I can practice speaking French with the locals. And, of course, for the amazing scenery, food, and shopping!

What’s your favorite food? TACO BELL.

What’s you’re favorite drink? Coffee, I’m a Diet Coke fiend, and as far as alcohol goes, I love moscato, champagne, and the strawberry lemon drop martinis that my favorite bar serves.

What would your super power be? I would love to know every language ever. That would be amazing.

My Nominees (I’m only doing three):

My Questions For You:

  1. Phone calls or text messages?
  2. Favorite form of social media?
  3. How would you spend a perfect day off?
  4. Who is someone that you admire?
  5. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
  6. What is something that you are proud of?
  7. Do you have any weird or hidden talents?
  8. What is one of your guilty pleasures?
  9. Last show that you binge watched?
  10. What was your favorite childhood toy?
  11. Favorite ice cream flavor?

Thank you so much again to the beautiful Trix for lifewithlilred’s eleventh Liebster Award! How would you answer some of Trix’s questions for her nominees? How about some of my questions for mine? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

THANKS!!!

Hello everyone! Okay, so recently I’ve gotten many a comment from readers saying that lifewithlilred is one of their FAVORITE blogs, and I do not take this lightly. That is SUCH an amazing compliment and honor that I had to take the time to say something on here. I am just so thrilled that I even have people reading my page, let alone saying that they genuinely enjoy it. It instantly gives me the warm fuzzies thinking about it and I just wanted to say that…

YOU ARE ALL MY FAVORITES!

Lifewithlilred would be a very lonely place without each and every one of you, so a million thanks. It’s so nice to feel validated on my blog baby, that is over three years old now, and I’m definitely having a “you like me, you really like me” moment, so a million thanks again! Much love. -Sarah

Woot Woot!

Woot Woot!

Hey everyone and happy Friday!! It’s a big friggen FIESTA up in here because guess what I did yesterday?! YES, I did eat Taco Bell. BUT that’s not all…

I PURCHASED MY GREYHOUND BUS TICKET TO SEE KATE FROM ANKHOR YOU IN OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!!

The Bloggers Conference is officially on AF and I’m so excited I can hardly contain myself. Because I ball on a budget, I am saving over one hundred dollars by enduring the nine hour bus ride to Manhattan from Cleveland instead of flying. Of course flying is more convenient and obviously less time consuming but I now have one hundred dollars more for New York shopping money, instead! I’ll take it!

Lil Red has never been to NYC before so, needless to say, I am very excited. Kate and I are about to be two bad mamma jammas taking the city by storm. By storm, I tell ya! We have SO MANY ACTIVITIES planned as well as tons of photo shoots so keep your eyes peeled for many a collaborative post by yours truly and Ankhor You!

And, of course, I am still looking for Halloween themed guest posts for while I am away, so if you are interested in being on lifewithlilred and you can have a post ready by October 10th, then please email me at: sarah.mush6794@gmail.com 🙂

What are some must see sights in New York? What themes should Kate and I do for some Bloggers Conference 2017 photo shoots? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Know Someone Who Is Retiring? These Gifts Are The Perfect Send Off

Know Someone Who Is Retiring? These Gifts Are The Perfect Send Off

Retirement is something that many of us look forward to as we get older. The chance to throw in the towel when it comes to getting up early every day, doing the long commute, or simply just not doing a job that you weren’t passionate about. For others, retirement is a new chapter in their lives. But, sometimes, it can be a difficult change to go through. Leaving a workplace, especially if you have been there for a long time, can be quite a hard phase of your life to experience. So, if you find yourself saying goodbye to a work colleague of yours due to retirement, you and your coworkers might be considering a gift. To get you started during your brainstorming session, here are some ideas that could be the perfect way to say good bye:

A “This Was Your Working Life” style scrapbook:

If you are quite the crafty sort, then something like scrapbook could be right up your alley. You and the retiree’s colleagues could each take a page to share your thoughts and well wishes for the next chapter in their lives. You could also include mementos like business cards, letter headed paper, logos, and even pictures from over the years of working there. The beauty of this sort of gift is that it is very personal and sentimental, and will be lovely for your coworker to look back on in the years to come.

Something personalized and fun:

Maybe the person retiring had a great sense of humor or loved novelty style gifts. This is when you can get to researching online to find more unique gifts like retirement koozies or personalized pint pots or glasses. A personalized gift shows great thought and consideration to the person and will be the perfect keepsake.

The classic flowers or a bottle of something they love:

Sometimes sticking with the classic gifts will suit your work colleague better, which is why the big bunch of flowers and/or a bottle of their favorite drink could be the best sort of gift to buy them. Accompany this gift with a card that all of you have taken the time to write in. The understated gifts can often times work the best.

Make up a retirement survival kit:

Whether you want to create something yourself or seek out a company that will provide it for you, a retirement survival kit can be quite a funny as well as a thoughtful gift for your colleague. Things included can be a balloon so that you start off retirement with a bang, a toothpick to pick out the very best of their day, and money towards the retirement fund. The options are endless, and websites like Pinterest are full of anecdotes that you can include.

A digital gift or a framed photograph:

Finally, you could make up a video send off where everyone records a message or have a picture printed and framed for your coworker. Digital gifts are great because they are always just a click away on the computer, and the time taken to get the picture or create the video won’t go unnoticed.

Although it will be sad to have a favorite coworker retiring, it is certainly something to be celebrated. Make happy memories to send him or her off with and use the ideas above to create the perfect gift!
