TJMaxx Beauty Haul

TJMaxx Beauty Haul

Howdy! Thanks to some generous gift cards to my favorite store, TJMaxx, which I received for Christmas and some extra spending money compliments of their store credit card, I was able to have quite the beauty haul this past weekend. Whenever I have gift cards for TJ’s, I always try and purchase the things that I am going to need with it, like the products that I use in my skin and hair care routine. I made out like a bandit and got all of the following, which means that I won’t have to restock my hoard for a good long while. Check it out:

The Haul:

  • Alba Botanica Hawaiian facial wash
  • Evoluderm micellar water
  • Global Beauty Care Glowing Metallic face mask
  • The Body Shop Oils Of Life serum x2
  • Lanoline eye serum
  • Rusk heat protecting serum
  • Danielle Laroche day cream

When it comes to all of my skin care products, I like having the next one that I am going to use handy so I don’t have to make any emergency trips to the store because I ran out of moisturizer. My haul was completely free, and I was able to restock everything that I will need for the next handful of months. And, for the Oils Of Life serums, I’ll be set for at least a half a year. 😀

All of the products that I selected seemed to be of great quality, reasonable prices, and Leaping Bunny Certified. I am looking forward to trying out all of these new brands because, aside from The Body Shop, I’ve never used any of the above before. I am the most excited to try out the moisturizer and face mask. Since purchasing my Azure Lux Rose Gold Sparkling Serum from TJ’s a few months ago, I have been obsessed with products with gold in it. So, be on the lookout for a new Face Mask Festivities post coming soon!

Has anyone used any of the products that I purchased in my haul? What were your thoughts on them? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Matte Navy & Lavender Nails

New Matte Navy & Lavender Nails

Hiiii everyone! Thanks to a fabulous new salon and nail tech, I had the most wonderful pampering experience after my month of recovery from surgery. It felt so good to get a much needed fill and have some time to get beautiful after feeling awful for such a long time. And, I even experimented with some new colors and a matte top coat. My new nail tech, Sam, did a bang up job and I am nothing short of obsessed. Check it out:

The new salon that I have been going to is called Elysian Nails, and it is the most gorgeous and luxe salon I’ve ever been to. And, to make things even better, their prices are insanely low, despite such a posh atmosphere. I follow Elysian on Facebook, and I saw a picture of someone’s nails done in indigo matte and it looked so pretty that I just had to give a shade of blue and a matte coat a try.

I love navy blue and lavender together, so I thought that it would be a perfect color combo to go with as I venture away from all black everything on my nails. But, the matte finish looks so good that I told Sam that a black matte mani next fill just has to happen – no ifs, ands, or buts. I can’t wait!

Do you prefer a matte or glossy finish on your nails? What color of nail polish do you have on right now? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Diving Into Business Or Taking A Measured Approach: The Pros & Cons

Diving Into Business Or Taking A Measured Approach: The Pros & Cons

When you don’t have much experience in the field of business, there are a couple of different routes which can be taken to get yourself started. Some people will like to dive straight in, choosing to learn everything they need as they go, and dealing with problems in the moment. Others, though, will prefer to take a far more measured approach. To give you an idea of the key differences between these business-building options, this post will be exploring some of the key benefits of each of them:

Diving In:

Going right into something that you don’t understand will always come with some risks. Issues could come up which you are completely unprepared for and you could take the wrong approach entirely when it comes to making decisions. In return for this, you will have the chance to get started very quickly. You will benefit from the satisfaction of doing something entirely by yourself, while also getting the chance to improve yourself in other areas in the process. It will always take someone with very strong dedication to their business to succeed at something like this. If you’re looking to start a company, passion is the very first thing you need and those who dive right in definitely aren’t lacking in that department.

Taking It Slow:

Taking a slower approach to this can take a couple of different forms, with some people preferring to go to school and others wanting to learn on the job. An online MBA can teach you practically everything you could need to get into running your own company. You will benefit from advice and support, and will be able to get a clear idea of where your talents lie. This will cost money, though, making it hard for some people to use and forcing them to look for other avenues. By getting a job as a business owners assistant for a while, you will gain similar skills, but will earn instead of having to spend.

Which Is For You?

In most cases, taking the slow road is usually the best option when you’re starting a business. This is something which you will want to support you in later life, and this makes it crucial that it is handled correctly. Of course, though, if you feel confident in yourself, it could be worth taking a risk on the more direct approach. Whichever you choose, the hard part of running your company is yet to come, and this means that work will be becoming a large part of your life.

With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to figure out how you’re going to start your business. There are ways to combine these options further, working to get the best out of both of them. In reality, though, this won’t take too long to be in the past, making it worth getting started on your route as soon as possible. As more people start their own companies, more resources spring up which are designed to help entrepreneurs just like you.

Your Checklist To Prepare Your Home For A New Dog

Your Checklist To Prepare Your Home For A New Dog

Getting a dog and bringing it to your home can be a huge milestone for the entire family. From a new puppy to adopting a dog, there is so much fun and excitement that comes with a new pet for the family. The environment that you bring them home to is so important, though, and the first day that you bring them back is crucial, too. Your dog is going to be full of nerves and excitement, as they are brought into something so different than what they have been used to. So being able to make them as comfortable as possible is key. With all of that in mind, here are some things that you can do to make sure that the transition to getting a new dog goes well:

Prepare All Household Members:

If you have other family members in the home, even if it is just you and your partner, you all need to be prepared for the new arrival. If you have children at home, then it is a good idea to talk to them about what is going to be happening. It is also wise to assign out the expectations of welcoming a new dog into the home, as well. If you expect the children or teenagers to help with walking the dog, then they need to know ahead of time that it is what you expect of them.

Get The Right Equipment:

Before you bring the dog into your home, you need to make sure that you have all of the right equipment in to make things more comfortable for your dog. A dog bed, bedding, bowls, toys, and food is a must, of course. The food can be trial and error with a new dog but starting with something like TreeHousePuppies could be a good idea. Vitamins can be a good for your dog, too.

Puppy-Proof:

All dogs are going to react differently to different things and the new environment that they are going to presented with. But it can be made much simpler by making sure that you have done your bit to puppy-proof the home. It could be simple things like putting houseplants out of reach for your dog or moving things like roach traps out of the way, too. If you don’t want them to go upstairs, then getting gates for the stairs, much like baby gates, is going to be a great idea and using them right from the start is a must to avoid confusion.

Getting a vet for your dog is one of the things you should do once they’re all settled. This can be especially important if you are adopting a dog as you won’t know what the state of their health could be. But most of all, enjoy your time with your new addition to the family!

New (Short!) Glitter & Black Nails

New (Short!) Glitter & Black Nails

Hiiii everyone! After a disastrous trip to LT Nails last month, I changed salons to Elysian Nails and had a most pampering few hours getting my nails worked on. And *gasp* they’re short! It was due time to give them a cut down and begin the growing out process again so now I have cutesy tiny daggers instead of my normal long claws. Annnnd, my new nail tech, Sam, convinced me to change my color palette up so check out my New (Short!) Glitter & Black Nails:

short

Ahhh! So crazy, right?! Originally, I was just going to do a glitter nail for the accent color and my normal all black everything for the rest. But, Sam (Who is such a doll!) encouraged me to try something new. We both agreed that the glittery white is perfect for an Ohio winter, especially since it was snowing fairly hard out while we were tucked away in the salon. And, for good measure, Sam let me have a black accent nail on a different finger, no less! Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!

Elysian Nails definitely proved to be worth the hype, because it got amazing reviews on Facebook and every opinion giving platform that I could find. The salon was decorated beautifully, it was spacious, and all of the nail techs were as nice as can be. The prices were good, the service was fabulous, and I can’t wait to go back next month. 🙂

What color of nail polish do you have on right now? How do you deck your nails out for the holidays? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New(ish) Urban Decay Naked Palettes

New(ish) Urban Decay Naked Palettes

Hiii! On Thanksgiving, I was in for a treat because my sister had some hand me down makeup palettes for me. Kristen is a makeup guru and loves shopping Sephora and Ulta for high end cosmetics. Although there are a few things from Sephora that I couldn’t live without, I tend to stick to the drugstore brands, myself. So, it’s always extra special when Kristen has some makeup that she’s ready to part with because that means I get to reap the rewards! Take a look at my New(ish) Urban Decay Naked Palettes and let’s discuss:

Smoky Palette:

naked1naked2naked3

Naked 2 Palette:

naked4naked5naked6

When it comes to eyeshadow, I wear a minimal amount, at best. I stick to the colors that I like and that’s about it. I don’t know how to cut crease, I’m not the best blender, and doing a proper smoky eye? Forget about it! But, that’s what is going to make having these palettes a lot of fun because I can play around and practice. Plus, having actual makeup brushes instead of Q-tips will be sure to help, too!

Obviously, I’m partial to the Naked 2 palette, because I love gold, bronze, and pink colors on my eyes. In fact, if I felt the urge to spend a decent amount of coin on a palette, this would probably be the one that I would purchase. So, having the Naked 2 palette is nice because all of the shades are basically old standbys. Although, I like to think that I have the drugstore dupe of this palette, already. The Elf Nude Rose Gold palette is an excellent compromise for a ten dollar price tag and I love using it! If you are a fan of the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, definitely check the Elf dupe out if you’re not looking to spend a lot of cash.

And, as far as the Smoky palette goes…. Well, it will be a learning experience. I actually quite like all of the colors in it, it’s just going to be more of a matter of applying them well. I rarely wear darker colors on my eyelids, so I’m not really sure what it will look like but, I’m kind of excited to try it out. I don’t even think that I would give this palette a second look in stores, so it was nice that Kristen gave it to me so I can test out some new MOTDs!

In the next few daily posts, I’ll be highlighting some of my favorite colors from each palette so keep your eyes out for that!

Which colors would you like to see swatched from my new(ish) palettes? Do you have a favorite palette or eyeshadow brand? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Kut From The Kloth Starred Skinnies

New Kut From The Kloth Starred Skinnies

Hello everyone and welcome to the final post in the PANTS PATROL series! This little number by Kut From The Kloth is probably my favorite new pair, because they’re really different than anything I’ve ever owned before. I’ve never had a pair of patterned pants, even though I have always wanted to. But, I would shy away from them because I thought that they would draw more attention to my curvier skater thighs and booty. I liked this pair by Kut From The Kloth so much, though, that I just had to give them a try and I am sure glad that I did! Take a look and let’s discuss:

kut1kut12

In all of my years of searching for a pair of patterned pants that I actually liked, I have never seen a black pair with some visual embellishment. So, when I found these on TJMaxx’s website, I had to give them a go and see if a black pair would suit me better and it definitely did! At the end of the day, Lil Red just isn’t a white pants with flowers on it kind of girl and, it took this starry pair from Kut By The Kloth, to make me realize that I was trying to play the patterned pants game all wrong.

Not only do I adore the charcoal grey stars adorning my new jeans, but I simply love the fit of them, too! I think that in all of my years of pants failures, the shopping gods decided to smile on me and throw a dog a bone by introducing me to several bottoms that actually fit well. This Kut From The Kloth pair is tight and curve hugging but they look more edgy than sexy to me and that’s the look that I always go for. And, if people happen to think that I look sexy in whatever I wear, then that’s just fine!

I cannot wait to pair these skinnies with my red and black faux fur jacket by June & Hudson and my favorite platform boots from Forever 21 for a look that it totally glam rock. But, I can also see myself wearing them with my ladybug button down from Zara and some ankle boots for an OOTD when I have a more laid back day at work. Dressed up or down, these jeans freaking rule, and I am SO happy to have found such a perfect pair for my first patterned skinny jeans. :*)

How would you style these jeans? Which types of clothing do you shy away from wearing? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
