Tooth Glow Gem Kit Review

Tooth Glow Gem Kit Review

Hello! A year or so ago, my cousin applied tooth gems to my pearly whites during a visit to her salon in Pittsburgh. Within a few weeks, one of the two gems fell off. The other one, however, managed to stay on until just about a month or so ago. I absolutely adored my tooth gems and I missed my smile without them so I purchased a few Swarovski crystal kits off of a site called Tooth Glow.

The crystals I picked out were lovely, light pink and a multi colored opal and the application process looked promising, so I was very eager to get my package in the mail. After what seemed like an eternity (AKA over three weeks, lol.), my Tooth Glow kits arrived and I applied them the same night.

Bear in mind, there was still bonding on my teeth when I took the selfie – it looks a lot better now, I swear:

The application process for the tooth gems was really easy. First, I put some petroleum jelly on wax paper and used it to stick a gem to a cotton swab. After that, I mixed up a bonding type of concoction that looked similar to what braces are applied with. Then, I brushed the spot I wanted bedazzled on my tooth heavily with the bonding agent.

Once the bonding was on, it was essential to move quickly and get the gem on before it dried. This was a little stressful and I failed the first time. But, I succeeded the second and third time around and I am really pleased with the outcome! It’s nice to have some sparkly bling back in my smile and I would recommend the Tooth Glow kits, easily.

One tiny qualm, though. I was only given one packet of the bonding agent when I bought two gem kits. I’m a little peeved about that but it is still a purchase that I’m glad I made!

Have you been successful at doing DIY salon treatments? Or not so much? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy (Early) Birthday Present To Me

Happy (Early) Birthday Present To Me

Hello! If you follow me on Facebook (at Sarah Mushenheim), then you will have seen my musing that I officially feel like a grown up because I asked my parents for an electric toothbrush for my twenty-sixth birthday. After a visit to the dentist, we both agreed that I could benefit from an electric toothbrush and I planned on ordering one off of Amazon once I got home…

But, then, I remembered it is almost my birthday (on the seventh) and it couldn’t hurt to ask. My mom kindly offered for me to pick out an electric toothbrush for my big 2-6 and, thanks to my boyfriend being an amazing sport: IT’S PINK! Check it out:

My boyfriend, Johnny, and I have wanted an electric toothbrush for a while and after using it one time, I have no idea what we were waiting for! We both agreed that our teeth have never felt cleaner after an at home brushing before and I know that my dentist will be pleased with the results of this here Philips electric toothbrush.

Not only does this model leave my teeth feeling literally Arctic Fresh but it is so adorable I can hardly stand it. Why would I want a blue or white toothbrush when I can have the sweetest cotton candy pink?! It was also a great deal on Amazon, as you could get the toothbrush and a replaceable brush head set as a bundle. #SCORE

Is an electric toothbrush the most exciting birthday gift? Actually, YES. Johnny and I love it, I love the color, and it was exactly what I wanted. So here’s to turning twenty-six with better teeth, I guess?! 😀

How did you celebrate your last birthday? Have you made the change from a regular to electric toothbrush? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy Birthday, Boyfriend!

Happy Birthday, Boyfriend!

Hello! Today is a very special, happy, wonderful day because it is my boyfriend, Johnny’s, 31st birthday. And, in exactly one week it will be my 26th… Ahhh! Johnny and I have been together for almost a year and it has easily been the best almost year of my life. Before the quarantine began, we were constantly going on adventures and enjoying nights out when his band, The Outside Voices, would play.

Now, we are hunkered down in the apartment with binge watching marathons and video games for our entertainment. But, I wouldn’t want to be stuck at home with any other person. Johnny knows how to turn anything into a good time, even if it is the most boring day on the planet. And, that is because Johnny is a person who is just full of light and a little bit of mischief when he lovingly pokes fun at me!

I have been waiting for a relationship just like this for forever and I wish that we could celebrate Johnny’s big day in the manner that he deserves. Instead, I’ll be picking up a steak dinner for him at Outback and FINALLY give him the presents that I have been begging for him to open since they arrived in the mail.

Is it the most exciting birthday event ever? No. However, Johnny knows how to make anything he does for me special and exciting and if I can take a few notes from his book, I think his birthday celebration will be a hit.

I love you, babe!

Happy Birthday! ❤

Just Something Nice :)

HELLO! So, this quarantine has been lots of fun… I mean not the quarantine itself, everything kind of sucks. But, hanging out with my boyfriend at home when I’m done at work has been a hoot. Johnny and I have binge watched series after series and played countless hours of Animal Crossing to help us pass the time and, although it’s boring, I wouldn’t want to be quarantined with anyone else. :*)

One of my favorite nice Johnny stories that I never shared was from after I attended a wine and paint night with my best friend and some of the bridal party for her upcoming wedding. I came home with my tail between my legs because I thought my painting turned out like BOO BOO:

FC9D4F22-9762-4877-B431-EF25591F33EC

But, the first thing Johnny said when he saw my painting was that he liked it and it looked like a Christmas card. Now, I have the painting proudly displayed in the living room. He always knows how to turn something I see negatively into a positive which I suck at doing and I always feel happy when I look at my masterpiece now.

Another thing that never fails to put a smile on my face is when I notice that Johnny has put my little artist’s wooden body model into a different position:

^^^ It’s the little things, right?! 😅

Although things are far from awesome right now, I get to spend my excess free time safely tucked away in our goofy apartment world and I am so thankful for that. Especially when such fun surprises are scattered about if you know where to look! 🙂

Who has helped make this time in quarantine more tolerable for you? What is a silly tradition between you and someone your close with? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

If The Shoe Fits: Forever 21 Heeled Combat Boots Edition

Hello! After what felt like going forever without shopping, I finally caved and treated myself to some goodies online from Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. There is nothing like packages arriving at my front door to help perk myself up and I now think I can hold off until the fateful day when I feel safe to shop at TJMaxx. Maybe.

So, while I mull over that decision, check out these new white heeled combat boots from Forever 21:

FD80FFD5-2D2C-460D-BF3D-EC2346D1878B7DA98C45-C866-4E60-9A2A-B68F447556FF77A81BF5-A63B-4FC3-8313-6EDC6FB21F360ABD5B99-2DA2-4F32-B4B5-ABBF3BA30BDC

If there’s one thing Lil Red loves, it’s a good combat boot. I have flat combat boots and heeled ones and ninety-nine percent of them are… Yep, you guessed it: All black everything. So, as you can imagine, it made it impossible to say no to a new crisp white pair to add some variety to my combat boot collection.

I love the fresh take on the grunge style that these shoes give me with the unique color palette but they are still such a classic shape and I think they are really cool. Of course, crunching through the snow in these bad boys next winter will be a treat. But, can we please talk about how cute these will be paired with short shorts and cute tights or socks come summer? Living for it!

I paid around thirty dollars for these new boots and I considered it a steal, especially because I’m sure I would pay around the same amount at TJs. Now, if only I could break free from my comfy cozy quarantine wardrobe long enough to actually wear them!

What is your favorite style of shoes? How do you give a nod to grunge style? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Totally Tights

Hello! During my recent little treat yoself online shopping session, I got some super fun accessories from Urban Outfitters. All of my purchases didn’t ship together, though, and I ended up getting the last of it a few days ago. There is nothing like a bit of online shopping to perk you up and the gift just keeps on giving once it shows up on your door!

The tights you’re about to see from UO may be a small new addition to my accessories collection but they are cuter than I could have ever imagined. So, yes, good things definitely come in small packages! Check it out:

Yes, these most certainly are colorful rhinestoned fishnets and I am completely obsessed! A while back ago, I saw an advertisement for similar tights on Facebook and I remember thinking how cute they were but I didn’t order them. So, when these little beauties showed up during my Urban Outfitters spree, I just had to buy a pair… And a back up one in case the first pair snags. 😉

These tights are absolutely perfect for layering under short shorts and will add an amazing touch of fun to the most simple outfits. And, with bedazzled fishnets you definitely don’t have to go all out. Pair under shorts, throw on a graphic tee and combat boots and hit up your favorite stomping grounds with your friends when it’s safe to do so. These tights will be sure to make a statement during your first outing in a month of Sundays!

What is your favorite funky accessory? Do you have any crazy tights? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Urban Outfitters Treat Yoself Jewelry

Hello! We all know that Lil Red loves to shop and this stay at home order has really put a cramp on my style. Lol, especially because the TJMaxx website isn’t shipping any orders out, either! But, that’s okay, and eventually I’ll make my way back to all of my favorite stomping grounds when it’s safe to do so.

In the meantime, though, I definitely needed a treat. So, I turned to the wonderful world of online shopping and made a few purchases from Urban Outfitters and Forever 21. Nothing major, just something to put a smile on my face. How can this darling, delicate jewelry not?! Check it out:

Despite having a deep fondness for online shopping, I rarely branch out from my favorite sites and don’t end up on Urban or F21 very often. But, I figured that going with safe bets like jewelry and shoes couldn’t hurt and it sure paid off. I absolutely love my gold lock bracelet, which I plan on wearing as an anklet, and it matches my beloved Michael Kors lock necklace perfectly. And, can we please talk about those adorable safety pin earrings? Maybe these will inspire me to finally get some additional ear piercings!

Nothing perks me up more than a little fashion treat and, with all of the stress of the current times, I needed it. It felt so nice to take an evening browsing through different stores on my laptop with a glass of wine. But, it felt even better when all of my goodies showed up at the door! Stay tuned for more this week. 🙂

How have you been treating yourself during the coronavirus panic? What is your favorite pick me up purchase? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Fairy Hair Pt. 2

Fairy Hair Pt. 2

Hello! During my family vacation to North Carolina this past summer, I noticed a boutique offering “fairy hair” AKA hair tinsel. I was so charmed by the adorable name and the variety of colors of the tinsel that I just had to get some put in. I was absolutely obsessed and they added such a sweet, girly touch of fun to my locks.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and eventually the strands fell out. I simply refused to live without them, however, and ordered a hair tinsel kit off of Amazon identical to the one that the boutique in North Carolina had. I knew my hair stylist could do the fairy hair that I so desperately craved and she worked her magic the last time I got my hair cut.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and eventually the strands fell out. SO I GOT MORE PUT BACK IN LAST WEEK! Check it out:

hairrrhairrr1hair

As per ushe, my stylist, Anna, knocked it out of the park. In fact, this time it is even better because she worked on her tinsel knotting technique and I have only had two fatalities thus far. Anna expertly layered the different hues of tinsel that showed up the best in my choppy new do and within a half hour or so my fairy hair was complete.

I was so happy with how my hair bling turned out and the compliments literally don’t stop, which is a major ego booster! I remember when fairy hair was a thing several years ago and I loved it then and I am still just as in love now. My next goal, you may ask? Bringing back hair feathers! Hopefully there will be a kit for that on Amazon… 😀

How do you like to spice up your hair style? Do you plan on getting your hair cut for the warm weather? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hot Topic Hair Accessory Haul

Hot Topic Hair Accessory Haul

Hi! It is no secret that I love hair accessories. From cute clips and scrunchies to barrettes and headbands, there is nothing better to add a healthy dose of adorable to your OOTDs. I, personally, am at a crossroads with my hair as I am torn between growing it out or just chopping it off, yet again. So, while I make this decision, I have been addicted to buying hair accessories to keep me in love with my hair even though I am not thrilled with it.

While shopping a sale at a Hot Topic near me that is closing, I couldn’t say no to some darling Disney inspired hair bling to spice up my do. And, hopefully, they will keep me feeling confident until I can *finally* make it to the hair salon on Friday. Check it out:

hair1hair2hair3hair4

I have loved the idea of hair chopsticks for forever but never saw any in a store until my shopping trip over the weekend. There is something so elegant but insanely trendy about hair sticks and, although I’ll be sporting bedazzled feathers, my mind always goes to a boss babe in the office throwing her hair into a bun and sticking pencils into it. Too. Cute. I have been wearing my hair up more often now that it’s getting longer and I can definitely see myself popping these babies in next time I’m too lazy to do my hair… Which is often. -___-

I have ALSO always loved the idea of hair cuffs like the Maleficent inspired raven one seen above. Once upon a time, I used to have two cuffs in blue and brown with a lovely, earthy pattern on them. Of course, I have no idea where they are now but, I have been on the hunt for something similar since delving into the hair accessory worm hole. I am so obsessed with the one I found because it is the edgy update that I’ve been waiting for since the cuffs I had in grade school. And, what’s wrong with wanting to channel your inner Angelina Jolie as Maleficent? Case in point.

The amethyst hair fork was kind of an impulse purchase. I can honestly say that I have no clue how to style my hair with it but the directions say to tuck a ponytail into it or something and that could be cute?! I’m sure I’ll figure it out but, if not, that’s what YouTube tutorials are for, amiright? 😀

There is nothing like some fun new hair accessories to shake the countdown to your hair cut blues and I think these pretty goodies from Hot Topic definitely did the trick!

Where do you like to shop for hair accessories? Does anyone know how to use a hair fork?! I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hello all and Happy Valentine’s Day! For some of us, Valentine’s Day means a romantic date night with your significant other. And, for others, it means a hot date with your couch, pajamas, a box of chocolate, seven bottles of wine, and a chick flick marathon. However you spend your day, Lil Red has got you covered.

We previously discussed the perfect Valentine’s Day makeup for your Valentine’s night out. But, today, it’s all about kicking back and having fun. I absolutely adore coming up with V-Day themed posts and, this year, I wanted to celebrate the two polar opposite styles that are traditionally associated with the day of love. We already got glammed up together and now it’s time to pop a few (or ten) pieces of chocolate and belt out “Love Hurts” like our lives depend on it. Let’s get to it:

sarah-55sarah-58sarah-68sarah-61sarah-69sarah-73

Who? What? Wear?

Featuring: Mini Bret Michaels cardboard cutout!

Does anyone remember that scene in Legally Blonde when Elle gets dumped and she’s laying in bed eating chocolate? With smeared mascara and crocodile tears she hurls her heart shaped box at the chick flick on her TV and screams “LIAR” at the man professing his love. Yes? No? Either way, that was definitely the vibe I was going for in this shoot minus the heartbreak and running mascara, of course!

Yes, this post is about poking fun at the cliches of a Valentine’s Day spent alone but it also is about celebrating it! I, for one, enjoy my own company more than I enjoy being around most people. I had a blast creating the concepts for my V-Day extravaganza on lifewithlilred and I wanted to pass that along to all of you.

Many a Valentine’s Day has come and passed, some with a significant other and some without. And, if you happen to be without this year, so what?! I have always lived my solo dolo Valentine’s Days as the ultimate “treat yoself” occasion of the year. Whether that be going on a shopping spree, getting mani/pedis, or lounging in the comfort of your own home and ordering takeout – A solo V-Day doesn’t have to be a bad thing if you don’t let it.

Let it be known that if I weren’t in an amazing relationship right now, the pictures above are a pretty solid representation of how I would be spending my day. It’s actually a pretty solid representation of how I’d like to spend every day. Riding solo on V-Day? Take some notes from my photo shoot, pop in the Devil Wears Prada, sit back, and enjoy!

How do you plan on treating yourself for Valentine’s Day? What is your favorite chick flick? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
