It’s Not Just A Phase OOTD Bonus Pics

Hello everyone and welcome to some bonus pics from my It’s Not Just A Phase OOTD! There were so many pictures I liked from this shoot because I loved the outfit that I created. It is for sure one that I can picture myself wearing again or with variations and it might just be one of my favorite looks from this past year of OOTDs. I think I achieved my goal of creating an elder emo look that the young bloods can look up to lol! What do you guys think?

image_50443009(2)image_50443009(3)image_50459137(7)image_50428929(3)image_50450177(3)image_50444545(1)

I don’t know about all of you but my fashion sucked ASS in high school lol. It was basically as bad on the outside as I felt on the inside. However, that’s one of the cool things about growing up. You get to develop your own style and learn what works the best for you. This was a process of trial and error and how my style evolved from yikes to something I’m proud of stems from countless shopping trips to TJMaxx with my mom. Trying on fitting rooms full of clothes in every shape, style, and color really helped get me in tune with my body type and what compliments it. This also gave me the freedom to make fashion mistakes without showing it to the entire high school.

Shows like Euphoria had all of the high school aged characters serving LOOKS and that truly is not the case for lots of people, myself included. If you’re one of my younger readers and have similar sentiments to my days of yore, I promise that it will get better. It just takes a bit of time, reflection, and an adventurous spirit when you’re out shopping. This outfit was inspired by what I wish that I wore in high school and I think my younger self would have flipped her shit if she saw these pictures of grown up me.

“It’s just a phase” is something that young people hear a lot and it is such a massive eye roll. There are some things you will never outgrow and that is okay! Once an emo kid, always an emo kid and all you have to do is look at thirty-three year old Johnny and twenty-eight year old me to know that it was most certainly not just a phase. This look was all about tossing that phrase in the garbage and being proud of who you are and how you feel. All of it makes you you and I like you just the way you are! ❤

What was a phase that you never outgrew? How has your personal style developed? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

How To Make A Sudden Career Change Successfully

Standard
How To Make A Sudden Career Change Successfully

Making a career change can be a daunting task. It’s one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make and, if done incorrectly, it can be very costly. This blog post will give you some tips on how to make a career change successfully and cover things like how to assess your skills and interests, how to research new careers, and how to network with professionals in your desired field. So whether you’re just starting out in your career or you’ve been stuck in the same job for years, read on for advice on making a successful career change:

Assess Your Skills and Interests:

The first step to making a successful career change is to assess your skills and interests. Consider what you are good at, the kind of work you enjoy, and the industries that align with your values. This process will help you narrow down potential career paths and determine which ones best suit your strengths and aspirations. To get started, make a list of your skills, interests, and values and review any past feedback you’ve received from colleagues, supervisors, and mentors to get a better sense of your strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps you are amazing at web design. You might have excellent organizational skills. Or you could have been a whiz at calculating the market share formula for the last company you worked with. These are all great things so don’t sell yourself short!

Research Potential Career Paths:

Once you’ve assessed your skills and interests, it’s time to do some research. Begin by exploring potential recession proof jobs that align with your list. Look up job postings for positions that match what you are looking for, read up on industry news and information, or even talk to people in the field who can provide insights and advice. This will give you a better understanding of the kind of work involved as well as potential opportunities available. In addition, research organizations and companies in the industry you would love to be in. A career change could be the perfect open door to your dream job. Note any areas that they specialize in, job opportunities they offer, their corporate culture, and any literature that could be helpful. For example, someone interested in piloting a plane might find this guide from P6 aviation as a great stepping stone to learning more about the field. All of these tips will help you determine if a particular career path is right for you.

Get Qualified:

Once you’ve identified a potential new career, it’s time to get qualified. Depending on the field, this may involve getting additional certifications or qualifications, taking classes or workshops, gaining relevant experience through internships or volunteer work, or simply doing more research to become familiar with different aspects of the field. You might also find that certain career paths have programs that host seminars, like the ones offered on https://www.exodusdispatchingandtraining.com/. These can be especially helpful as you will have professionals on your side right from the start. Are there any roles where your past experience could be beneficial? How can you make your transition smoother? Brainstorm ways to apply your existing skills and experiences in a new context.

There are multiple ways to become a more qualified candidate, and you don’t need to attend a full-time course to do it. Age of Learning can be a great option for this, as are countless other online learning possibilities. While you’ll still need to put the work into actually getting qualified, it’s more than worth the effort.

Network and Build Connections:

Making connections with people who are already working in the field is an important step towards making a successful career change. Building relationships with these individuals can open up opportunities for collaboration, advice, or even job openings. Start by doing some research on LinkedIn and other social media platforms to find potential contacts. Then, reach out to these people via email or a phone call to introduce yourself and explain why you’re interested in their particular industry. Ask questions about their experience and what advice they might have for someone looking to break into the field. Finally, don’t forget to offer your own skills and expertise in return.

Make a Plan:

Making a plan is essential for any career change. This will help you stay focused on your goals and ensure that you are taking the necessary steps to reach them. Start by breaking down each of your larger goals into smaller, achievable tasks. Then, create an actionable timeline with deadlines for completing certain tasks or reaching certain milestones. As you work towards making your career change, review this plan regularly to make sure you’re on track and adjust it as needed along the way. Finally, be sure to factor in time for self-care while making your transition. It can be easy to get overwhelmed during this process. Schedule activities that will help you stay motivated and energized, such as exercise or creative pursuits.

Take Action:

It’s easy to talk about making a career change, but the time has come to take action. Start by applying for any relevant job positions or internships that have come up in your research. Make sure you are taking advantage of networking opportunities and building meaningful relationships with people in the industry. Also, don’t forget to promote yourself! Create an online portfolio showcasing your work and experiences, create social media profiles that show off your skills and qualifications, and update your resume and CV. You could have all of the qualifications in the world, but a poorly crafted CV can be off putting to potential employers. If this is something you could use some extra help with, services like those provided on https://cvexperts.com/ can be most beneficial and could give you a better chance of scoring an interview. These steps will help you stand out as potential employers review applications.

Making a career change can be stressful. However, with the right planning and preparation it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By assessing your skills, researching potential paths, and building connections in the field, you can make a successful and satisfying transition. With careful reflection, dedication, and perseverance, you’ll be well on your way to pursuing the career of your dreams!

It’s Not Just A Phase OOTD

It’s Not Just A Phase OOTD

Hello everyone!! This weekend, Johnny and I were finally able to have a little date day and snap some pictures and I am ecstatic with the OOTD that I came up with. Johnny and I are your friendly neighborhood emo kids (28 and 33 is still young, right?!) and I wanted to pay homage to that with what I considered a “grown up” emo ensemble. This look was so much fun to style and shoot and Lil Red Fun Fact for ya: The brick wall that you see below is actually the building for the bathrooms at a local park lol. Hey, whatever works! Check it out:

image_50439937(5)image_50401281(4)image_50402305(4)image_50441217(5)image_50435585(4)image_50414081(3)image_50421249(5)

Who? What? Wear?

^^^ SHOOK that there are no pieces from TJMaxx in this look!!

Normally, when I am planning an OOTD shoot, I do so with one specific piece in mind and build the outfit from there. In this case, it was my yellow plaid skinnies by Wild Fable. I love these pants so damn much and I was amazed when I realized that I have never featured them in an outfit post before. These pants are the cutest and they add an awesome grungy touch to any look. They are also insanely comfortable and fit just a tad looser than traditional skinny jeans. Long story short, they are A+ pants.

Of course, with such a bold pattern on the bottom, choosing a top was a bit difficult. I vetoed several options because they had already been featured in past OOTDs and poo pooed others because they just looked bad lol. Finally, I threw my hands up and decided on the Zoe + Liv hoodie from Target with a rock on skeleton hand. At first, I wasn’t particularly thrilled about this because it seemed like such a safe bet and we all know that Lil Red never plays it safe. Then, I had a brain blast!

It is freaking freezing in Ohio and there was no way I would be warm enough in just the hoodie alone. I knew that when I chose it and figured I would just make do with my stud embellished Zara moto jacket. I wasn’t particularly thrilled about this, either, because it also seemed like too safe of a bet. Then, I began shopping through my jackets and an epiphany dawned on me: If I was trying to do a grown up spin on emo kid classics, why not add a blazer?

With that idea in mind, I went with my Express blazer that I got at the Goodwill. This was such an amazing find and it oozes chic. It was also what got me back on board with the hoodie that I had chosen. I have never really seen a hoodie and blazer combination before and that was really exciting to me. It was even more exciting when it looked awesome lol! I loved being able to see the casual hoodie’s hood over such a signature business staple. The blazer also took away from the slouchiness of wearing the hoodie on its own, providing me with a nice, lean silhouette.

After the base of my outfit was complete, it was time to move onto shoes and accessories. My stark white lace up boots from Forever 21 were an obvious choice. The inspiration was giving an update to an emo staple of black combat boots with a similar structure but totally different color. I also really liked how they popped against the rest of the outfit and brought out the white in the plaid pants.

For accessories, I wanted to keep things minimal because the outfit as a whole was so sleek and I didn’t want anything to distract from that. So, I kept things simple and put on my favorite pair of pink glitter lightening bolt earrings. These were a sneaky way of adding a bit of color without being super obvious about it. Every outfit needs a little glitter, amiright?

Minus the crippling depression I had in my angsty teenage years/early twenties, I am still an emo kid at heart and always will be. It might not be apparent in all of my OOTDs but it’s true! I think my younger self would have been obsessed with this look. ❤

Where are my elder emo kids at? Who is your favorite emo band? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

5 Steps To Manage A Sudden Life Change

5 Steps To Manage A Sudden Life Change

No matter who you are, there will come a point when you are faced with a sudden change in your life. It could be an opportunity to move somewhere to better your career or maybe you’re tired of the same old thing every day, and you’ve found something that could transform that. Whatever it is, you may need to take quick action to ensure you can do it, but this is never that easy. If you’re faced with a sudden change, here are some tips to manage it successfully:

Slow Down:

Sudden change brings a whirlwind of uncertainty. You may have no idea what to do, which means you could make a decision that isn’t right for you or your family. It’s vital to slow down when something unexpected occurs, as this allows you to think and re-calibrate. You can take the opportunity to consider your options from myriad angles, meaning you can find the solution that works best for you.

Speak to Your Family:

You may not want to or should not make this decision alone. When a change arrives, you must ask how any action will affect others. Speaking to your family, your partner, kids, and even your parents, will help you work through your options and consider everyone’s feelings. Your partner may not want to leave their job; your kids may miss their friends; your parents might need you to take care of them. These are all issues you could face when you encounter a sudden change.

Know Your Options:

It’s always useful to know your options, especially if you need to make a quick decision and want assurances that there is no going back. If you have an opportunity to move across the country or another part of the world, use services like sell my house fast so you can generate funds to move elsewhere and remove mortgage and other responsibilities back home.

Consider Alternatives:

There are always alternatives for you and your family to consider when faced with change. If you need to move immediately, you can do so, but your family may not need to move straight away. While it’s challenging to be apart, it helps you settle in and ensure you feel comfortable where you are. If you don’t, you may realize you can return if the opportunity wasn’t all it was made out to be.

Just Go For It:

You won’t get anywhere by deliberating over your options for too long. Sometimes, you may not even have the time to deliberate, so taking a risk might be worth it if you dive headfirst into the opportunity. You never know what life could bring and if you feel like you need a change, this could be what you’ve been searching for all this time.

You never know when a change will come, but that’s okay. You don’t need to predict everything in your life. Sometimes, the unexpected things are often the most exciting. At the very least, these tips can help you deal with change when it comes, so you know the best course of action!

Bunny Baby Angels

Bunny Baby Angels

Hello! Johnny and I have had our bunny baby angels, Mel and Penelope, for over five weeks now! They are settling into their routine so nicely and it’s impossible to think of life without them. I have wanted pet rabbits for SO long and it is, honestly, everything that I wanted it to be and MORE. Both rabbits are so sweet and special in their own ways and as soon as I leave for work, I can’t wait to get home and see them again… And Johnny lol. ❤

image_50440705(2)image_50442241(3)

Prior to bringing Mel and Penelope home, Johnny and I did a lot of research to make sure we were going to be able to provide above and beyond care for them. There are some things, however, that you just won’t know until you bring them home. For example, the litter box was giving us a lot of grief. Both rabbits were semi litter trained before we got them and Mel was doing pretty good with using theirs once they were home. Penelope, on the other hand, was a totally different story and went anywhere in the litter box area but the box. *Face palm*

Thanks to reading lots of tips from The Bunny Lady, trial and error, and a ginormous litter box from Chewy, I am so happy that within days Penelope figured it out. With that final obstacle out of the way, they are both now fully litter trained and have never had an accident when we let them explore the bunny proofed area in our apartment (All compliments of Johnny’s handiwork!). It sounds a bit silly but oh my goodness was I proud. 😀

Depending on the day, I provide most of the general maintenance care and play time for our mother and son duo. Johnny definitely falls under the category of the Cool Dad! Whenever I’m not home and he takes them out after work, he always plays the banjo for his rabbit audience and it’s so cute to me. He went into our bunny parenthood with sheer ambivalence at best and has transformed beautifully into a full on bunny dad!

Johnny and I are a family of four and I am beyond happy. If you have the means, space, and time for a pet and have wanted one for a while, my advice is: GET IT. You will be kicking yourself in the butt when you realize you should have done it forever ago!

Do you have a pet? What is your favorite thing about being a pet owner? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

5 Ways To Increase Your Home’s Value

5 Ways To Increase Your Home’s Value

Increasing the value of your home is a great way to improve your financial situation. Whether you are looking to sell your home or just want to increase its value, there are several smart ways that you can do so. Here are five creative and cost-effective ways to increase the value of your home:

Remodel Your Home:

If you are looking for one of the best ways to increase the value of your home, consider investing in a home remodel. A well-executed remodel can add significant value and appeal to your home without breaking the bank. As an added bonus, many remodels will also increase the functionality of your home, making it more comfortable and convenient for you and your family. With guidance and assistance from a team of qualified architects, you can create a home remodel that fits your needs and budget.

Before booking an appointment with contractors, it’s a good idea to create a list of the things that you would like your remodeled home to have. If you need inspiration for what’s fresh in the world of design and home technology, check out this home remodeling contractor or pop on some HGTV! Simply browsing through completed projects on a website or even watching a show can help get your creative wheels turning.

While it’s good to have a list of what you would like to have in a remodel, it’s best to establish a solid budget first. What is the most you are willing to spend? Is there the potential for wiggle room? It’s essential to have a budget in place before you enter a search for “home remodeling spring hill tn” (or your local area). Then, the contractors you choose will be able to tell you exactly what they can do within your budget.

Add New Technology:

Smart homes are becoming increasingly popular as more technology like those offered by Lelch AV and other savvy devices becomes available for homeowners. They offer homeowners a way to automate or streamline simple menial things like turning lights on or tracking the temperature of their house, allowing them to pilot the ambience of a room or save money easily. Installing a few pieces of smart technology like security cameras, connected thermostats, and automated lights can give buyers peace of mind when they purchase your home. It’s also an easy way to add some extra convenience; Who doesn’t love having their lights come on automatically when they walk into a room?!

Give Your Home Curb Appeal:

First impressions count! If buyers don’t like what they see from the outside of your house, chances are they won’t even bother coming inside for a look around. Make sure that your lawn is well-manicured and free from debris. Add plants and flowers for color, paint or replace old shutters, doors, and windows, power wash siding, repair broken fences, install new outdoor lighting, and more. These simple fixes can make a big difference in the attractiveness of your home and they won’t cost you much time or money, either.

Update Your Bathroom:

Updating an outdated bathroom is one of the best ways to increase your home’s value quickly and may even be cheaper than you would think. Consider installing new tile, adding a frameless glass shower enclosure, updating your faucets and fixtures, and switching out or refurbishing worn-out cabinetry. These simple updates can dramatically impact your home’s value, leading to much higher offers when it comes time to sell.

Giving your bathroom an upgrade can be done step by step or you can opt for a complete overhaul. Whatever fits your budget, is most convenient, and will have the best return on investment will typically be the best choice for you and your home. If you decide on a full remodel, search online for a “bathroom remodeler in Orlando, FL” or a similar contractor in your local area. You will want to find someone that comes highly recommended as most bathroom remodels will require proficiency in plumbing.

Invest In Energy Efficiency:

Investing in energy efficiency measures such as insulated windows and doors, solar panels, high-efficiency water heaters, LED lighting, or efficient HVAC systems can save you money over time while increasing the marketability of your home when it comes time to sell it. Not only will those features make potential buyers feel confident about their purchase, but they will also save them money on their utility bills each month, something every buyer wants!

With these tips, you can boost the value of your home quickly and easily. It will make things better for you and your family now and much better on your wallet later when you are ready to sell!

Build Your Skill Set & Better Your Career

It’s always a good idea to diversify your skills. When you’re well-rounded, you’re able to take on any challenge that comes your way. Let’s discuss five ways diversifying your skills can benefit your life and career:

Make Yourself More Marketable:

One of the top benefits of diversifying your skills is that you’ll become more marketable to potential employers. Expanding your skill set shows that you are a well-rounded and versatile candidate. Having a wide range of skills gives you an advantage over other applicants because it shows that you’re able to handle different types of tasks and responsibilities. Plus, having a diverse skill set makes you more valuable to potential employers because it gives you the ability to take on various projects and roles.

Stay Up-To-Date With The Latest Trends:

Another benefit of diversifying your skills is that you’ll stay up-to-date with the latest trends. As technology and trends in your industry change, it’s essential to stay on top of the latest developments. This will help ensure that you’re able to keep up with what your competitors are doing and deliver high-quality products or services. Additionally, it can be beneficial to learn new skills so that you can take advantage of these changes and grow your business.

Improve Your Problem-Solving Skills:

When you diversify your skills, you’ll improve your problem-solving skills. Learning new things gives you more tools to tackle any issues that may arise. And being able to solve problems quickly and effectively is essential for success in today’s fast-paced world. This is exactly what Alex Graveley did. He noticed a large market gap and decided that instead of being part of the problem, he would be part of the solution. Therefore, problem-solving skills are essential for entrepreneurs and people in any field, so diversify your skills to stay ahead of the competition!

Enhance Your Career Opportunities:

By diversifying your skills, you’ll have more career opportunities. Being well-rounded allows you to take on a wide range of roles or projects within your field. Lastly, one of the biggest benefits of diversifying your skills is that it can help increase your confidence. When you learn new things, it gives you a sense of accomplishment and helps boost your self-esteem. And having high levels of confidence can be crucial for success in both your career and personal life.

If you’re looking for ways to enhance your professional or personal life, be sure to continue diversifying your skills and learning new things!

Guest Star OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the third and final blooper reel from my Thanksgiving OOTDs! Today, we’ll be looking at the craziness from my Guest Star OOTD and it is one of my favorite photo series that has been created for lifewithlilred. The outfit was, of course, on point but it was the best because my darling niece, Valerie, wanted in on the photography fun too! Val makes me proud every day but this just hit different – especially considering that there was a point when she refused to have her picture taken. Look at her now, stealing the show!

Just TT being and looking crazy

She’s coming in hot and…..

Nails it!!

image_50449665(2)

Valerie is my lil bestie and everything is infinitely more fun (And tiring!) when she’s around. Every day that I get to spend with her is special and whenever I’m feeling down, all I need to do is think of the funny things that she says and does and it never fails to make me smile! She is my partner in crime for Taco Bell and Mexican food dates, story hours, slumber parties, and now OOTDs! I truly think we have a future influencer on our hands and that time might be coming sooner than later – she puts her own outfits together every day! #proudestTTever

Every moment from mine and Johnny’s three day Thanksgiving extravaganza was awesome but having Val be a Guest Star was one of my favorite parts. Being an aunt and uncle is such an exciting adventure for us and I cannot wait to celebrate Christmas with our sweet nieces and nephew. Only a few more weeks!! ❤

What is one of your cherished holiday memories? What puts you in the holiday spirit? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Cardi Party OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Cardi Party OOTD! With three Thanksgivings in a row, Johnny and I were exhausted for basically the entire week afterwards. It was well worth it, though, because we had an amazing time with our families! Thanksgiving was the perfect occasion to get back into fashion forward posts on lifewithlilred and I was ecstatic because I missed it oh so very much. Of course, there are sure to be some unflattering pictures among the hundreds that Johnny takes and I took it upon myself to share them with all of you. Check out the bloopers from my Cardi Party look:

I LOOK GREAT!!!!

Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful, amiright?! Lol but seriously… A while back ago I saw this post on Facebook about a mom who will happily take pictures when her kids hold up a camera no matter what she looks like. Rather than refuse to get her picture taken, she’ll smile. And, instead of vetoing the more than likely unflattering picture upon seeing it she would say something like “I look awesome” or “I love my smile”. The blooper reels from my OOTD posts kind of follow that same concept as well as poking some good old fashioned fun at myself and it is a segment on my page that I am really proud of.

My sister claims that I take way too many pictures (As does Johnny as you can see!) but I just can’t help myself. No matter if it’s a “good” or “bad” picture, it’s important to me to have all of those special moments to look back on later and smile. Showcasing these yikes OOTD shots is something that I would have never done during earlier lifewithlilred times. However, I think displaying these shots for the world to see shows my growth as a person and I hope it encourages others to do the same. Is it really a “bad” shot if it makes someone laugh or feel comfortable with any of their perceived flaws? I think not! 😀

Keep it posted tomorrow for bloopers from my third and final Thanksgiving OOTD and then it is onto more fun here on lifewithlilred. See you then!

Are you a constant photo taker at family events? How many pictures do you have on your phone? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Comfy Cozy Thxgiving OOTD! For three Thanksgivings, I served three separate looks and now it’s time to check out the pics that most definitely didn’t make the first cut. This post is part bloopers and part story time because somehow while Johnny was snapping pics, something reminded me of one of the lamest things my bestie and I did in high school and I had to tell him all about it. Naturally, I had no idea he was taking my pictures throughout this lengthy tale but now I get to share them with all of you! Check it out:

I LOOK GREAT!!!!

I can not remember for the life of me what brought upon this manifesto of a high school aged bestie and I but apparently I really needed to tell Johnny about it for the fifth time. I’m sure all of you knew a girl in high school who stuffed her bra with tissue or toilet paper but have you ever heard of anyone who used the same method for their butt? We did! In high school, there was this girl who stuffed her butt and it was not just a rumor – there was evidence to back it up. From tissue sticking out of her pants to her butt deflating after each class period, she was not fooling anyone and literally the whole school knew about it.

For shits and gigs, my best friend and I would pay homage to this person by stuffing our butts Every. Single. Time. we hung out. Needless to say, we went through a ton of toilet paper at our parents’ houses during our high school years. Was this a necessary thing to do? Absolutely not. Was it hilarious to us? ABSOLUTELY. We were like women possessed and our hangouts just didn’t feel right without it. It was, honestly, the dumbest thing but it still cracks me up to this day. In fact, if you look at the fourth image down, I’m pretty sure I’m about to say “butt” lol. Hey, what’s being in high school without doing the stupidest stuff ever?! Good times.

Am I particularly proud of this story? I mean… kind of lol I guess we just had to match the utter ridiculousness of the situation with some ridiculousness of our own. And now we can all share a laugh on the blogosphere fourteen years later! 😀

What is one of the dumbest things you did in high school? How about one of the dumbest things you did as an adult? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
