What’s Your Topic?

Without a topic, you can’t get your blog off of the ground. The chances are that you already have something in mind. You wouldn’t have started this journey otherwise. But, you may be afraid that your topic won’t work. Or, you might worry that you won’t have enough content. For the most part, a blog does need an angle. Your audience needs to know what they can expect from you. But, the topic may not be as rigid as you think. Say, you want to be a beauty blogger but are worried about running out of beauty tips. That’s okay. Give it a go and see where you get. You may find, once you have an audience, that the occasional blog that isn’t beauty related will still get good feedback.

Just be sure not to limit yourself. Step out of your comfort zone or topic niche and try something new. You never know where it might take you!

Blog posts need photos. It’s a good way to break up the text and make things more visually appealing. At the end of the day, none of us internet trawlers like big chunks of text. We want easy to read, accessible posts. And, something about the inclusion of photos enhances that. So, this isn’t a debate about whether to use photos at all. In short; you should. This is more of a debate about whether to use photos you’ve taken, or stock photos. This comes down to personal taste. Both have their benefits and downfalls. If you take your pictures, you know that they’re unique to you. You can tailor them to your image. But, if you’re not skilled with the camera, your posts could end up looking unprofessional. Stock photos have the bonus of giving you options. But, there’s also a risk that a lot of other bloggers are using them. Why not try both and see which you prefer? Play around and experiment and you are sure to find or create an image that works for you.

Get Guest Bloggers On Board?

Some bloggers decide to publish guest posts from other successful blog owners. There’s nothing wrong with this, as long as you disclose the fact to your audience. In truth, this could be a fantastic way to share readers with the other blogger. You could also write a post on their site. Again, though, this is a personal decision, which you need to make. Do you want to keep your blog for your posts only or are you willing to let other people in? I personally love having guest bloggers on my site. With every season, I try to offer a new guest bloggers series – like my Salute To Summer series, coming soon at the end of the month!

Blogging can be an amazing hobby/career/online journal. It’s up to you to how much or little you put into it but be aware of the decisions that you are making and how they can affect your overall blog image.

Graduation day is a monumental moment day of your life; it’s the first true time you step out of a sheltered existence and become an adult. It’s an incredibly hectic, but exciting time. Friends and family are all gathered around you to tell you that they’re proud and making jokes about your gown. Some of them are no doubt holding back the tears. The administration and staff of the University are also there and energetically shaking hands on a job well done. But, all the buzz can produce stressful moments, so here is a guide to take you step by step, of what you can expect on the big day:

Organizing Your Gang: Graduation days can be like rock concerts. There’s a huge glob of people in the center and almost immediately when you turn up, you’re fighting not to get lost. You can get separated from your group if you haven’t planned in detail beforehand about where you’ll meet and where you guys will stay during the whole ceremony. So communicate effectively with your college friends and family. Make sure that everyone is together and in one place, so that it’s easy to find each other. Use landmarks such as a large tree, a building entrance, or lots of you could wear the same color hat or clothing.

During The Ceremony: When you’re on stage, be respectful that you’re sharing this moment with thousands of other students. You’ve probably seen videos of people acting silly at their graduation on social media. Don’t be that guy or gal; this is a moment of prestige. You worked hard. Remember the long nights of frantic studying, the upset stomach before an exam or deadline, remember how you worked part time to pay for your tuition? Exactly. Use this time to hang your head high and accept your rightful praise, but you’re in a hat and gown – not the court jester’s attire.

Take A Break: The graduation ceremony is going to be long, very long. Take pictures before the ceremony starts. Fix your gown and your frown at the same time, while there’s no pressure to imitate a ‘still-life’ painting. Then, you’ll have plenty of time to evaluate the pictures and retake some as necessary.

Graduation day is the best, but it can be incredibly stressful! Make a game plan beforehand, though, and you’ll be good to go!

The dentist is a scary place for a lot of us (me included). In fact, a study by Colgate showed that between 9-15% of Americans have avoided going to the dentist because of fear. That’s about 40 million people! So, if the idea of sitting in that plastic chair makes your heart flutter, then you aren’t alone. Dental phobia has many different sources. Like many phobias, it can come from our parents. Or, it may be that you’ve been unlucky enough to have a bad experience. In some cases, fear comes from something as simple as the idea of needles going near your mouth!

As much as causes vary, the extent of our fears is also different. Some of us get nervous but are fine once we get there. Some get extremely scared but understand that it has to be done. It’s a competitive world out there. People are actively discouraged from taking a jump into a new career or to leave their miserable job for a freelance career because there are so few roles out there but with so much competition. The fact of the matter is, is that for anyone that’s unhappy in their job, there is no point in resigning yourself to a life of the mundane blues if that’s not what you want. So if you want to take the plunge away from the work blahs, then all power to you! But before you go into your new life, it’s always best to make sure that you have the right skills. “Skills” is a bit of a vague term in life, but there are three constants that you definitely need to have in your reserves. Know how to implement these three and it will see you through any difficult work situation in the future:

Leadership Qualities: You don’t need to have had experience in running a ship! But when you’re looking for a new role, the brief will be likely to include the phrase “self-starter”. And this may not mean leading a team to victory, but you will need to be able to motivate yourself. And if you can’t motivate yourself, then how can you be expected to motivate anyone else? Learning about leadership opens up so many new doors for you. Are You Feeding Them Properly? Just as with any other animal, your dog needs the right diet in order to function properly. Knowing what such a diet should be, however, is something else altogether. As it happens, most dogs need a combination of dried food like Royal Canin and meat, although what meat is not quite so important. If you are only feeding them one or the other, then this can cause some serious nutrient deficiency so make sure that you are giving them a more balanced diet. You should also check that you are feeding them the right quantity – this depends on the size and breed of your dog and it something that you should ask your vet about. Lastly, make sure that you are feeding them at regular intervals, in order to really ensure that their diet is as good as it can be.

Are They Getting Enough Exercise? Dogs of different breeds, sizes, and ages need differing amounts of exercise, so you should make sure that you know your dog’s type well enough to give them the right amount. Generally, however, walking them twice a day is optimal – and absolutely no less than once a day. If you have a large garden, then that can sometimes suffice instead of walking them, but you should still take them elsewhere occasionally to give them new experiences. You will know if they are not getting enough exercise, because they will start to look weak and might even begin whimpering.
