A Day In The Life Of Lil Red

A Day In The Life Of Lil Red

Hello! I told you that I would be using some of the writing prompts that I suggested for all of you yesterday and here I am – surprise! Yours truly knows a thing or two about writer’s block and, honestly, the best way for me to combat it is to think of a ton of different post topics and go from there. So, as per my own recommendation, I am going to take all of you through a normal day for Lil Red, pandemic style. Here we go:

Morning:

I typically wake up to start getting ready for work around seven. It’s a bit of a mad dash for me because I need to shower, write, and do any other last minute preparations with the hope of leaving for a client’s house at eight fifteen. This may seem like a lot to cram into an hour and a quarter but I have been dedicated to this morning routine for years and it would be weird to change it up now. I also find that I am less likely to keep hitting the snooze button when I have a few things to accomplish before I even leave for work!

Afternoon:

My afternoons are dedicated to my clients and trying to find fun ways to keep them occupied at home during the pandemic. I love my job so much and have been an Independent Provider for people with special needs for over three years now. The pandemic has definitely put a damper in a normal day at work as community integration is my specialty but I think that I am better at my job for it because I have had to get so creative with endless days at home. No matter what we do, I am always thankful for time with my clients and get home anywhere between three thirty and five during my work week.

Evening:

Once I get home from work, I still have a bit of paper and computer work to take care of before I can settle in with Johnny for dinner and an episode of whatever show we’re watching. Right now, we are working on three different ones: Castlevania, the Ken Burns Vietnam documentary, and King Of The Hill as our comedic palette cleanser. Johnny and I will sometimes play a few video games, as well. I am currently still working on Mario Galaxy and it is so much fun! I also like to incorporate some time into all of my evenings to read and practice the five languages I am learning on Duolingo for a mental work out.

My days have felt rather blah lately but after writing out a typical day in my life, I have realized that I actually do a lot even during the pandemic. I feel proud of myself for sticking with all of my routines and still trying to make every day a great one despite not feeling my best. Here’s to safer and happier times to come!

What is a day in your life like? Which shows are you currently watching? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Simple Tips To Improve Your Mornings

Simple Tips To Improve Your Mornings

Hello! Every day seems like twenty-four more hours of the exact same thing: Wake up, work, relax, repeat. It can be hard to spring out of bed every day with a pep in your step when things are so monotonous but that doesn’t mean you can’t try. Starting your morning out strongly means that you have a better chance of keeping the momentum going all day, which can definitely help improve a blah mood! To get your day going on the right foot, keep the following in mind:

Don’t hit the snooze:

No one is more guilty of hitting the snooze button than me but I really am trying to work on this bad habit! Hitting the snooze button, even for just five minutes will already be pushing your morning back which makes the pre-work rush even more frantic. As soon as your alarm goes off, shrug off your blankets and get yourself moving. If you are feeling sleep deprived, it’s better to go to bed earlier than bank on those extra five to ten minutes every morning that leave you scrambling around the house so you can leave for work on time.

Have something to eat:

Some people are just not breakfast people and that’s okay – no one is saying you need an elaborate breakfast spread every morning. But, it’s important to try eating a little something before you start your day. We need the extra energy to help get us through until lunch time and your morning is really going to drag if all you can think about is how hungry you are. Have yogurts or breakfast bars handy at home so you can have a quick bite before work. On the weekends, there is nothing better than brunch with friends. Quaint restaurants like The Black Penny make for a perfect spot to chat away and enjoy a great meal.

Complete your normal morning routine:

I’m sure all of our morning routines have changed drastically since the start of the pandemic since there really is nowhere to be that requires us to get spruced up. I, myself, have tumbled into an unending cycle of leggings and hoodies. But, there is just something about completing your full morning routine, even with nowhere to be, that hits different. This might mean applying a bit of makeup, styling your hair, or shaving. Whatever it is, give it a shot. It will bring back a touch of normalcy to your day and it will be nice to feel totally work ready again.

Prepare things the night before:

Whether this be making your breakfast or lunch, prepping your paper work, or readying your outfit, it’s always better to do these things the night before. Leaving all of these random additional tasks for your work morning will only add time and stress as you start your day. Plus, if you do everything that you can to already be ready the night before, then you can hit the snooze button without it having such a negative impact! 😀

The tips above are all easy changes that you can start incorporating into your morning routine immediately so you can always wake up on the right side of the bed!

Are you a morning or night person? When do you normally get up in the morning? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Why You Should Plan For Retirement Early

Why You Should Plan For Retirement Early

Despite how important retirement is, a lot of us leave planning to the last minute. You might plan to get around to it soon, but ‘soon’ can easily become ‘next year’, and then it’s too late. Most people don’t know how much cash they will need to retire securely, and many don’t have a pension at all. It’s never too early to plan no matter when your dream retirement awaits you so get started with the tips below:

When Do You Want To Retire? When Can You?

Think about your ideal retirement and look at your finances to start planning from tomorrow. This will help you to work out if there is a distance between when you want to retire and when you actually will be able to. Are you hoping for mortgage-free living in retirement or will you live in a retirement community? Do you want to enjoy your retirement with travel and restaurants? Or perhaps you are interested in moving states and have been researching the best places to live in tennessee for retirees (or wherever strikes your fancy)? Try to work out how much you expect to spend each month.

By working out these things early, if you find you can’t reach your ideal retirement with your current finances and the rate you’re saving at, you can work out how much more you will need to set aside each month in order to actually reach your retirement goal. If you don’t get prepared, you could end up with a lot less saved up than you expected. Your goal of retiring at 60 could easily get pushed back to 65, and then 70.

Delaying Could Cost You Thousands:

If you start saving for your retirement at 30, you can save less money each year than if you start saving at 50, and still end up with the same amount in your retirement fund. Every year that you put off planning for your pension means that you will have more catching up to do later on, which is when you will likely have more outgoings, thanks to a growing family or a bigger mortgage. In the future, you won’t thank your present self for a lack of planning for your retirement. One of the best things you can do as you prepare is to find ways to make your savings gain more for you. This could include investing in stocks, finding the best fixed rate isa, or creating CD accounts.

Retiring Isn’t Always A Choice:

You might think of retirement as a milestone for later in life, but sometimes the choice of when you retire is not up to you. You might have to retire earlier than you wanted to due to poor health, a change in family circumstances, or a redundancy. There are lots of reasons that you might find yourself having to stop working earlier than you had planned to. If you don’t plan for changes of circumstances like this, there can be a lot of problems. Trying to support your family or pay your mortgage on a smaller pension than you had planned for would be a big issue. Unfortunately, we can’t predict the future. However, you can plan accordingly with services provided by DVI investment management winter park (or something similar in your local area). The team of experts will be able to build an investment portfolio so that your savings can expand and provide a cushion should you need it.

Planning early is important when it comes to your retirement, so get started ASAP!

Everything Going Wrong? Let’s Take Care Of It!

Everything Going Wrong? Let’s Take Care Of It!

We are all under a lot of stress right now given the world’s current state and it is not a great place to be mentally. Especially when you are constantly having “straw that broke the camel’s back moments” when anything else goes wrong. I feel it one hundred million percent so let’s all take a deep breath (Did you do it?) and we’re going to address some common problems and feelings that might happen and how to deal with it with a level head:

Appliances Breaking:

In the words of Bender from The Breakfast Club, “Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place”. Unfortunately, this means that things are subject to break and when you notice that one of your home appliances is on the fritz, it’s important to deal with it quickly. We rely on appliances to make things easier for us and hand washing dishes or trips to the laundromat is the last thing you need. Seek out the best appliance repair services and get things back in working order so you can breathe easier.

Difficulty Working From Home:

Working from home is not for everyone and not even being able to leave the house to go to the office can make things very monotonous. If you are struggling with working from home, try doing all of the things that you would usually do if you were to go to the office in the morning. Take a shower, get dressed in something other than sweatpants, fix your hair, and eat a good breakfast. Also try having your lunch or breaks at their normally scheduled times. Sticking to a schedule and checking off everything on your morning to do list will help make you more motivated and add some normalcy to your day.

Feeling Lonely:

Sadly, feeling lonely is very common for people during the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s no wonder why. It’s hard not being able to see friends and family regularly as well as not having much to look forward to. If you are feeling alone it is important to reach out and talk to someone even if you don’t want to. I live for my scheduled FaceTime chats with my friends and it is the next best thing to seeing them in person. Send a text, make a call, or hop on Zoom to see some friendly faces or hear a familiar voice. It will do you a world of good.

Feeling Bored:

Also sadly, feeling bored is very common for people during the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s no wonder why! There is only so much Netflix you can watch, video games you can play, and books you can read until you are officially one with your couch. You need something new so now is the perfect time to begin that hobby you always wanted to try or work hard on your New Year’s resolutions. Take time out of your schedule each day to work on your new skill and you will be surprised at how far you’ve come when things are finally normal again.

These are overwhelming times, indeed, and it is important to know how to deal with problems even when you are so stressed. Think rationally about what you are experiencing or feeling and then make the best decision on what you can do to make the situation better. Let’s do this!

Don’t Know Which Company To Work For? Read This!

Don’t Know Which Company To Work For? Read This!

In life, it is often that you’ll find yourself at a crossroad. Going one direction will lead to one set of results, and going another will lead to an entirely different outcome. Unfortunately, you can never clearly see both outcomes. You know that they will be different, but you have no idea how things will work out in the end.

Conundrums like this can come up when looking for an internship or a job at different companies. Before you make a choice, you can go in either direction. But ultimately, you have to make a decision, narrow your focus, pick a path, and run with it. We can’t offer any direct advice on the choice you should make in this article. But what we can do is give you a way of thinking that will make it easier for you to navigate this difficult juncture in your life. Here’s what to do:

Get Comfortable With Making Provisional Choices:

Let’s say that you have a choice between doing an internship at a big bank or a small startup. Which should you choose? Both are going to give you experience, but the kind of things you’ll learn will vary depending on the firm you pick. At the corporate enterprise, you’ll learn how large organizations work and the types of roles that people perform. And at small fledgling brands, you’ll find out about the raw realities of business and how challenging it can be for some entrepreneurs.

When you go into a decision like this, try to see it as provisional. By taking an internship at one place or another, you’re not locking yourself into anything. You don’t even have to remain with the company for the duration of the internship if a better offer comes along. It’s all in a state of flux. If things aren’t working out or you’re failing to make gains from the experience, then it is time to move on.

Choose A General Discipline:

Not sure what sector you should work in? Then study a generic discipline that applies across the business world. Perhaps the best example of a generic skill is marketing. It doesn’t take a long time to learn the basics. And once you’re up to speed with it, you can help practically any company with their content. Find a marketing MBA guide and learn what’s involved and what you have to do. The more you can learn before you begin your career, the more valuable you’ll become when you finally step up to the plate and take a full-time role.

Deal With Life’s Uncertainties:

Dealing with life’s uncertainties is one of the greatest challenges people face. We want to think that our existence will follow a well-defined path and that we will eventually “make it”. But when you look at the world around you, you rarely find that kind of thing happening in practice. That’s not how it works. Instead, people arrive at their destinations via circuitous routes.

We should, ideally, embrace the uncertainty in our lives. If we knew exactly how things were going to play out, there would be no future and no fun in being alive. Everything would be set in stone, never deviating from the course that we set ourselves. That might feel reassuring to begin with, but you’d eventually get bored. You’d want to play the game again: you’d miss it.

When choosing a company to work for, try taking this attitude. It would be dull if you knew how everything was going to work out in the end. Living in a world of chance and probability is much more interesting.

Try Shadowing:

You can usually get a good sense of what it’s like to work for a company by shadowing somebody as they go about their work. Being an observer can reveal things you don’t get when you are doing an internship. Shadowing is usually easy, especially if you’re doing a related educational course. Most companies are keen on the idea because there is no expectation that they should provide you with a job at the end of it. It’s easy to float from one shadow role to another, gathering as much data as you can from the people who work in your organization.

If you find that working closely with other employees is beneficial to you, look for companies that utilize mentorship programs. This can be via the best mentoring software or by the company’s own standards for such a program. Mentoring software will link you up with a more experienced member of the company who you will be able to turn to for guidance and learning new skills. However your company goes about it, this can be most beneficial for both the mentor and the mentee in developing unique skill sets.

Keep Your Options Open:

You don’t have to commit to any particular company. In fact, doing so is probably bad for your long-term career prospects. Instead, when choosing between various companies, try to keep your options open. The more choice you have, the less leverage any particular firm has over you.

Keeping your options open requires two things. First, it involves maintaining a network with people in positions of authority who understand that value that you offer. And second, it means having some sort of valuable skill that people find it hard to find elsewhere.

Keeping your options open is actually a lot easier than many people imagine. Often firms will keep your name on “file” if they believe that you have something valuable to offer them. Remember, you can use career choices and internships to build your skills and then include these on your CV to convince future employers that you’re the person they should hire for a role.

Start Saving:

If you’re still not sure what company you should work for (or even what career path you should pursue), then start saving. It sounds like a strange thing to say, but savings are what provide you with options. You might not know what you want to do right now. But that doesn’t matter. Working in a regular job and saving money, gives you the option to take time off and retrain later on when you finally figure out what direction your life should take.

Remember, you don’t have to know which company you want to work for right from the jump. Use the tips above and make your decision wisely.

Choosing The Best Cleaning Company For Your Office

Standard
Choosing The Best Cleaning Company For Your Office

Does your office look a little less than perfect? We get it, and sometimes you just need that extra bit of help to get things spic and span, such as a cleaning company, so that you can pick up where they leave off. Here are some recommendations for choosing the best company for you.

Choose a company that provides the service you need:

There is a significant difference between a residential and commercial cleaning company so it is important to find one that specializes in the exact spaces you need to clean. You can find out by examining the company’s website and checking the services it offers. Other than that, you could call and ask over the phone what the company specializes in. Remember that there is also a difference between cleaning factories with a large amount of dirt and cleaner places like labs and hospitals. An Industrial cleaning company for your factory often goes well beyond just cleaning the inside of the property. The business you choose might also specialize in building maintenance or mold treatments. You might even be able to bundle services for a better deal so be sure to explore plenty of different options.

If your problems go beyond cleaning, such as pests, then you should consider hiring a pest control company that will be able to assist. Whether you need pest control or commercial cleaning London for overseas properties, many different companies will offer you a free quote for the services needed to help you find the best deal.

Need some assistance with how to find someone to help?

For the most part, the reviews you read online can be the best way to discover the pros and cons of cleaning services. Look up the company you’re considering and see what people have to say. It’s important to know if other customers were satisfied with the services provided before you enlist the help of anyone.

You might also want to narrow down your search to something more specific. For example, are you looking for a company that uses eco-friendly products like these business cleaning services in Indianapolis? Be sure to include that in your search terms to avoid companies that don’t have your preferred requirements.

Do I need the professionals?

On the face of it, cleaning seems to be a routine job that everyone knows how to do. However, the cleaning services of a professional office company are carried out according to a regular order and planning. In order for the services to be provided at the right pricing that does not burden the customer, it is necessary to specialize in the subject and to select the employees who are able to clean large areas very efficiently.

The cleaning team will focus on cleaning tables and other furniture, emptying garbage, washing floors, and more. In the bathroom, attention will be paid to the toilets, mirrors, and other accessories. In the kitchenettes, the counters, marble surfaces, and dishes will be cleaned. If you have a professional office space, then it is usually a procedure to ensure that you have someone who can undertake the task of cleaning, for the protection of yourself and your staff members.

Along with the normal cleaning, there is a thorough cleaning that is usually done once a week, and this involves cleaning ceramics, cleaning upper shelves that are not used regularly, washing floors in side rooms and closed warehouses, and more. Monthly cleaning is usually done for windows and lintels and other required elements. The job specifications can vary depending on the needs of the place and the requirements of the customers. Most often, these cleaning services are performed after or before the activity in the offices.

Choose the best cleaning company for your office carefully and see it sparkle once their job is complete!

Inspiring Careers To Consider

Standard
Inspiring Careers To Consider

2020 has been the year of career changes. For the majority of us, this hasn’t been a particularly desired or fortunate circumstance. The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a significant number of companies collapsing, struggling to get by as a result of social distancing and isolation measures that have been implemented with the purpose of slowing the spread of the coronavirus. This has resulted in many job losses, redundancies, and more.

Many of us have also found ourselves in periods when our jobs have been deemed non-essential and we have been asked to stay home. This has given a number of people the opportunity to realize that the roles we were previously in aren’t for us and that we want to get involved in a different field of expertise or industry. Now, if you’re looking for a new job, there are countless directions you could go in. But the pandemic has opened many of our eyes to the sheer importance of many roles within society and you might want to give one of these inspiring positions a go:

Physical Healthcare Services:

We’ve been hugely reliant on healthcare services and staff throughout this pandemic. Without them, this whole situation would likely have been even worse than it has been. There are a huge array of healthcare roles to choose from, so no matter what your skills, experience, or interests, chances are there will be a position out there to suit you!

Of course, to work in healthcare, chances are you’re going to have to spend a fair amount of time in education and training. Whether that’s a seven to eight year medical degree or an online MHA degree. These roles tend to be high responsibility and often require expertise, so the education is essential. But it is all more than worth it when you land the position at the end. Plus, when you qualify and train in healthcare positions, you can feel relatively certain that there will be ongoing and consistent demand for your work when you finish.

Mental Health Services:

The 2020 pandemic has also opened many of our eyes to the significance, severity, and wide spread of mental health concerns and conditions in society. In the past, there was a taboo attached to mental health issues. But as scientific and medical research has advanced and as societal boundaries have changed, we are growing increasingly aware and open about our mental health. The pandemic has seen many people struggle and there are always people in need of support when it comes to mental health conditions. You could help! Again, there are many routes you could take – from psychiatry to working as a helpline operator or running support groups. Again, qualifications and training are likely to be required. But again, knowing how much you are helping others will prove all more than worth it.

These are just two types of roles that have been highlighted as extremely important during this pandemic. If you’re considering a career change, you may want to take them into consideration!
