Hard To Say Goodbye: How To Teach Your Dog To Spend The Day Without You

We all know how much of a commitment it is to bring a new dog into your home. They need a great deal of care, affection, exercise, and training. A puppy can be an incredible addition to your home, but you definitely have to be ready not only for the work involved in looking after them but also the changes that you may well have to make in your life to fit around them. In that way, having a puppy is a lot like having kids since you now have a whole new set of priorities that you have to think about when you’re deciding how to spend your days and nights.

Of course, there is always going to come a time when you’re going to want to go somewhere without your furry friend (Crazy, I know.). It could be going to work or simply going for some drinks with friends. This can be seriously difficult for a lot of people because many dogs really don’t like being left alone. So does that mean you have to be either trapped in your house or take your puppy everywhere you go? Fortunately (or unfortunately) not! Here are some things that you can do to make spending time alone a little easier for your puppy:

Ease Them Into It: The worst possible thing that you can do is to just disappear for hours the very first time you leave your dog alone. They will almost certainly become very upset and that can lead to things like broken furniture and some seriously unpleasant accidents. If you want to start introducing your dog to the idea of spending time without you, then you need to do it gradually. Ease them into the idea of being alone. You may even want to start with something as simple as shutting the door on them and waiting outside for a few minutes. Over time you can increase how long you stay away until they’re used to keeping themselves entertained for decent amounts of time.

Give Them Things To Occupy Them: Speaking of entertainment, even if your puppy doesn’t get very upset when you leave, the other major risk is that they are going to end up being extremely bored! You will want to make sure that there are things around the house to occupy your puppy’s attention and prevent them from wreaking havoc throughout the house, like chewing furniture and knocking over lamps. Companies like http://tuftoys.com are fantastic, because you can rest assured that your pup isn’t going to chew through their toy before you get back. This means that they’ll have something to occupy themselves with all day long.

Play With Them as Much as Possible Before You Go: The last thing you want is to leave your dog at home with too much excess energy. Sure, a dog is going to have plenty of energy no matter what but if you can give them a decent amount of play and exercise before you go anywhere, they are that much more likely to feel relaxed, and they may even sleep for a lot of the day. Take them for a long walk, play with their favorite toy, or do some intense training before you go and you can make sure that they don’t feel bottled up and trapped while you’re gone.

Saying goodbye is hard – ESPECIALLY when it’s to your dog! These tips will help make the transition easier for both of you until you can be reunited again (and it will be beautiful!).

Reclaim Your Home Privacy

Don’t you just hate it when your home doesn’t feel private? Perhaps, you’re overlooked by a home behind yours or maybe you just constantly find people staring into your windows. It’s annoying, intrusive, and it can feel quite unpleasant. As such, you might be interested in ways to make your home a little more private. If so, here are some of the best possibilities to help achieve that:

Screener Trees: Screener trees are great because they can be planted around the edge of the property and are perfectly designed to stop people from looking in. It’s particularly useful if you have a garden that is, unfortunately, completely overlooked, as is often the case in modern home developments. The other advantages of these trees is that they grow fast and thick. They’re often evergreen, too, and this means that you won’t lose your privacy once Autumn rolls around.

Garden Fence: You might have property at the front of your home that isn’t closed off. It might be completely open and perhaps even on the other side of the road. This could be the case if you have bought land to extend your property. The problem here, is that onlookers might have no idea that the land is privately owned. As such, they could decide to sit on it, play on it, or just walk all over it. This can be particularly annoying for homeowners who spend a lot of time and put considerable effort into making their garden attractive. The solution here is a Northland Fence, which will be installed by experts in a variety of styles to best suit your property. When you own a property, you really want to make sure that only people who have your permission are using it. A fence is the best way to do this and, unfortunately, it might be the only option if you have an open lawn.

priv1

Maybe not a white picket fence, but still.

Electronic Blinds: It’s possible that the thing you hate the most is people staring into your home. Like it or lump it, the windows of your home are exactly that. They aren’t just a way to look out. But they could be, and if you want to make sure you can see out without other people seeing in, one-way glass is the answer. Incredibly, you can buy this for your home windows, and you can certainly see the appeal of adding this to rooms like the bathroom.

Of course, if that seems too expensive and over the top, you can also consider getting electronic blinds. That way, you can block the view that other people have of your home whenever you feel like they are getting a little too up close and personal with your living room window.

priv3

Bye bye Peeping Toms!

Automated Gates: Finally, if you want to make sure that people stay away from your home altogether, an automated gate might be the best option. Responding only when you open it, this gate will stay firmly shut to intruders, ensuring that you have complete privacy. Some people will deem this to be overkill, but it might be exactly what you want if you’re tired of people walking all over your property. It could also make a burglar think twice about breaking in.

Chez Vous is where you should feel most comfortable, so if not having enough privacy in your neighborhood is an issue, then maybe some of these solutions will be for you!

7 Steps To Maximizing The Profit Potential Of Your Home Business

7 Steps To Maximizing The Profit Potential Of Your Home Business

Running a small business from home has become a very popular option for entrepreneurs from all backgrounds. By removing the need for commercial offices, you can significantly reduce the overheads involved. In turn, this can remove a great deal of pressure and buy a little more time as you look to turn the operation into a profitable one.

Reducing the overheads is a positive starting place. However, it’s only worth doing when you couple it with maximized profits. Otherwise, those savings will be counterproductive. In turn, this will prevent the company from achieving its full potential. Thankfully, you can achieve those great results by mastering just seven key factors. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started:

#1. Learn: There’s nothing wrong with starting your business almost immediately. However, it’s equally important to appreciate the fact that you don’t know it all. While improvements will come with experience, you should also appreciate the need to learn as you earn. First and foremost, you should be open to the possibility of formal education. Many entrepreneurs feel that there is no need for this as they aren’t looking to boost their hopes of securing a better job. But knowledge is power and enhancing your wealth of business-related info will serve you well.

Meanwhile, it’s imperative that you conduct the necessary research into your business. From working out the costs to knowing what else is on the market, that knowledge will enable you to make far smarter decisions.

#2. Build A Work Space: The thought of working from home is a dream for many, especially when you remove the need for commuting. However, separating work from leisure is the hardest challenge facing any home-based worker. Fail to establish those boundaries, and any success will remain limited.

If you have a home office space, that’s great. If not, it’s probably time to transform a guest room or the garage. Either way, your home office should be built for business rather than just working. Given that you could be spending long periods in this area, choosing an ergonomic chair is essential. Meanwhile, it’s imperative that all internet facilities and tech items are reliable, too. Sadly, if they go wrong, you could be set for a nightmare.

Building this working environment isn’t only important for you. It’s equally crucial for your family. If you’re in the office, you’re working. If you’re not, then they’ll know that you’re ready for family time.

bus2

So snazzy!

#3. Focus On Teamwork: All business owners require the support of a winning team. When running the operation from home, the chances are that you won’t have people actively working in your home. But that doesn’t mean that you should ignore the importance of embracing employees. The recruitment process will vary from the traditional ideas. However, hiring remote workers and freelancers can enable you to make your staffing budget work far harder. Meanwhile, you won’t need to worry about providing them with the necessary equipment. In turn, this can only send profitability through the roof.

Working from different locations shouldn’t be an excuse to ignore your responsibilities, though. Regular perks, good salaries, and a sense of empathy and understanding should be considered essential. After all, you need to trust that they’ll be working in the right manner.

#4. Think About Your Presence: Regardless of the industry, customer perceptions are imperative for success. Failure to make a good first impression will harm your hopes of achieving sales before you’ve even started. Unfortunately, some customers will be put off by the fact that you operate from a residential address. Acquiring a physical address in a prestigious location instantly provides a better company image. Meanwhile, it’s important that your website and other tools display contact details in a clear manner. Otherwise, it can give consumers a reason to feel that you’re hiding something.

A strong SEO game will boost your web visibility to further enhance the initial responses. That helps the company plant a seed of interest into the client’s mind, which can only bring positive impacts for future sales figures. If this has gone way over your head, you are not alone! That is why marketing agencies like Justified Media offer SEO services to help give your business the visibility it needs to succeed.

#5. Do More: Ultimately, you need to show that your business is the best solution for the client. One of the best ways to do this is to offer something that your competitors don’t. If yours is a localized service, you could make it mobile by visiting clients in their homes. Whether it’s hairdressing, accounting, or selling clothes doesn’t matter. Removing some of the hassle will give them another reason to choose you over competitors. On a similar note, accepting more payment types can have a positive influence on proceedings. On the one hand, those gestures are made for the benefit of customers. On the other hand, though, you should have pride in offering the best service, anyways.

#6. Find A Great Marketing Strategy: Branding is a crucial element of any business, as it provides the company with an identity. Your home-based venture shouldn’t be any different. In addition to logos and slogans, you should think about attention-grabbing ad campaigns.

Given that you don’t have a store, embracing online opportunities is pivotal. In addition to strong SEO, you should look to blogging, video campaigns, and interactive tools. Not only are those ideas far more cost-effective than traditional methods, but they additionally encourage participation. And when the clients are actively interacting with the brand, they’ll be far more likely to respond in a positive manner.

Just remember that you must express your personality at all times. If they can relate to the people behind the brand, the customers will be far more likely to complete a purchase. Once again, it all comes down to that sense of trust.

 bus4

Stats n’ stuff

#7. Excel At Customer Care: Getting your business to the point where it generates regular sales is no mean feat. So when you do reach this stage, it’s crucial that you find ways to encourage long-term loyalty. When you have customers that keep coming back for more, sustained success is assured. Good communication is always a solid starting point. For example, if you are using help desk outsourcing, you will want to ensure that the person manning the desk is friendly and patient. A positive attitude goes a long way when communicating with customers and clients.

You can also go one step further with small gestures like promotional freebies and special promotions. Likewise, running loyalty schemes can be hugely beneficial. Above all else, you should go beyond the call of duty when dealing with customer issues.

Essentially, showing that your commitment to the client doesn’t end with the transaction is vital. In addition to boosting those direct relationships, it could encourage them to recruit friends and family, too.

Don’t Delay Dealing With These Top Household Emergencies

Don’t Delay Dealing With These Top Household Emergencies

When an emergency hits our home, it can throw many of us into a state of panic. If something happens at our work or when we are out on the street, then we can live safely in the knowledge that once we get home, we are safe. After all, it’s not like any of us willingly live in homes that have any threat constantly present (unless you’re a total daredevil, that is). But if something occurs in your home that qualifies as an emergency, it is vital that you are prepared.

Your home shouldn’t be somewhere that you should have to leave for an extended period, especially if you have young children in tow. Leaving due to an incident beyond your control can be incredibly frustrating, and as kids depend on routine, you could find it a very challenging and emotional time. That is why it is in everyone’s best interests to get any household emergency sorted out as soon as possible, so you can all get back to normal life within a day or so. Here are some examples of the most common household disasters, and what you can do to solve them in record time:

Wild Animal Invasion: You may think that because you live in the city, that you are not at risk of an animal or pest invasion. It’s not exactly like there are wild deer or bears casually stalking your home every time you look out the window. But, it may come as a surprise to find out that animals and pests can be just as common within the city as they are in some rural areas – the animals are just good at hiding, that’s all! Common perpetrators include badgers and raccoons, who like to hang around trash cans, and insects such as woodworms. If you get a large animal in your home, try not to panic. Isolate it in a room to stop it from harming yourself or others and give it an escape route, if you can. Never try to tackle it yourself or let your dog or cat near it – you could end up with an even messier situation on your hands.

Hello!

A Burst Pipe: As far at home-based mishaps go, few are more damaging than a burst pipe. This incident can cause a spectacular amount of damage in a matter of minutes, so it is vital that you act fast. Pipes can burst for reasons, such as a blockage or the fact that the pipe may be frozen. The most important thing to do is to seek help from a professional such as the people available from www.plumbingforce.co.uk. If your leak is particularly bad, turn off the main water supply and clean up any major spills as soon as possible – before your home turns into an indoor water park!

Internal Fire: House fires are typically every homeowner’s worst nightmare. They can easily get out of control even if they start small, which is why it’s very important to know how to deal with them. If the fire is in your oven, the worst thing that you can do is to open the door. Keep it shut, and eventually, the fire should burn itself out. If it is an open fire elsewhere, use an extinguisher or a fire blanket to try and tackle it, and then call the emergency services.

Yikes!

Household emergencies can be scary and stressful – but knowing how to deal with them can help save you from even more panic/pulling your hair out.

8 Stylish Ways to Beach up Your Home

8 Stylish Ways to Beach up Your Home

Hi everyone and happy weekend! This post is compliments of my darling friend and design guru, the lovely Miss Chloe Taylor. Thanks again, Chloe girl! ❤

8 Stylish Ways to Beach up Your Home

It was the year 2003 when the world fell in love with the amazing beach house from the movie “Something’s Gotta Give” with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton. The Hamptons house Keaton’s character lives in was everything anyone could wish for from a beach house – light shades of blue, warm whites, soapstone counter tops, an amazing pool, and a fabulous view of the waterfront. However, not all of us can enjoy the benefit of having a shore near our homes, but that doesn’t mean that we should be deprived of laid-back coastal decor. If you are interested in “beaching up” your home, here are a few ways to do it:

Start With the First Impression:

If you want to turn your landlocked home into a beach-like heaven, you should start from the very entrance. Painting the facade in light grey or white (or a combination of the two) should do the trick. Then, you can enhance the vibe with a pastel blue front door and lush green plants on the sides of the entrance.

beach1

Choose a Beachy Color Palette for the Interior:

Once you enter your little sea shore kingdom, you’ll want the interior to match what’s outside and enhance that light summer vacation feeling even more. To achieve that, go with colors like white, light shades of blue, beige, pastels, and light grey.

beach3beach4

Let the Light In:

If you want to show those wonderful colors in their truest light, you’ll have to use precisely that – light. Shine some natural light by leaving the windows bare, or using sheer or linen curtains. Also, especially in the kitchen, you can use bamboo or woven shades.

beach5

Use Rattan and Sea Grass:

Rattan furniture is an instant way to transform an ordinary room into a traditional looking beach house. The living room and the dining room are the best places to introduce such pieces, but you can also use them outdoors to connect the two environments. A sea grass rug in the living room will amplify the summer lightness of the beach decor.

beach6

Cover up:

If you’re a little short on cash and don’t feel like buying new furniture, that’s alright. You can always slipcover the pieces that you already own and bring that special lighthearted feeling to the room. Linen and cotton duck cloth are perfect fabrics for this task.

beach7

Stripe it up:

Don’t you think that after all of these light colors, that it’s about time to add some drama to the whole picture? We have the perfect thing for you: sailor stripes. It is the perfect pattern to implement on an area rug (just like in “Something’s Gotta Give”), accent wallpaper, or an armchair/sofa slipcover.

Sea-Loving Artwork and Accessories:

Now it’s time to sprinkle your home with just a bit of fairy dust. And by fairy dust, we obviously mean some accessories associated with the seaside. Collect some beach treasures like sea stars, rocks, sand dollars, pieces of coral, and driftwood. You can display them independently, cluster them in a bowl, or use them to encrust a chandelier or a mirror.

beach8

Don’t Have a Shore? Make One!

Who needs the sea when you have your pool? It just needs a few upgrades to get close enough to beach-indulgence. And since the waterfront is your main inspiration, this is the very place where you should splurge on outdoor designer furniture (stylish pool lounges sound like a great idea!). Plant some shrubs and bushes around the pool (palm trees are also an option) and add some tiki umbrellas. Pour yourself a margarita and enjoy.

beach9

If there could be one term that would easily replace “a dream home” it would definitely be “a beach home”. Unfortunately, we aren’t all blessed with a Hamptons house (or even better, a Caribbean estate), but we can do our best to introduce just a bit of the sea breeze, sparkly shells, and sunny days into our lives. There’s no shame in being a beachy-keen dreamer!

^^^ Thanks again to my Chloe girl for a beach-tastic post! This was perfect, considering it’s been raining ALL WEEK in Ohio! Are you a beach fan? If not, what type of land/climate do you prefer? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

How to Add Value to your House Without Having to Remortgage

How to Add Value to your House Without Having to Remortgage

We all know the importance of taking pride in our homes. We work hard to keep our dwellings spick and span and looking its best. We constantly strive to make sure they are cozy, comfortable, and a happy place for our families. But, sometimes we need to really up our game and whip our houses into shape with some serious elbow grease. However, that can be easier said than done as it can be tough to know where to start.

So whether you’re looking to add value to your house because you’re wanting to sell or whether you’re just looking for the best ways to really make the most out of your home, here are our simple tips on how to do just that:

Start From the Top: Looking at our attics as a potential area for extending our living space is one of the top ways to add significant value to our homes. If you think your property would benefit from an extra bedroom or if you think that your home needs an amazing game room, your attic could be just the ticket. Get a builder to take a look at your attic and see what possibilities are open to you. Although attic conversions take money and time, the return on the investment is usually really high. A £15,000 attic conversion, can add an extra £30,000 to the value of your house, so it’s well worth considering. Or if you’re staying put and just looking for extra room for your family, this really is the best part of your house to consider opening up.

Extend Into Your Garden: Extending your property into your garden is another great way that you can expand your living space and subsequently add value to your home. Be cautious when taking on conservatory projects, however, as sometimes they can look like an afterthought. An extra unit just bolted onto the side of your home doesn’t look so attractive. Work closely with an experienced builder to see how your conservatory can create a natural flow from your internal home and out into your outdoor world.

Make sure that the style fits well with the existing decor of your house and consider putting the same flooring down from the connecting room so that you give off that natural flow. A full build conservatory can cost as little as £4,000 and can add as much as 9% to the value of your home so, again, this option is well worth looking into.

A Lick of Paint Works Wonders: There’s nothing that drags down the overall appearance of a home more than dull, tired, and old paint work. Look at the paint both internally and externally on your house and get to work. This is a job that you can take on yourself, but to make it as easy as possible for you, you should consider investing in a paint spray machine. It will quarter the amount of time that you spend painting and provides really even coverage. Try shopping around for the best paint spray machines at Tool Nerds.

Before rolling those sleeves up and going in, all paint guns blazing, take some time to consider the most attractive colors for your home. Think of how to cleverly mix neutral with statement colors and plan each individual room and living space accordingly.

When considering the outside of your home, you will need to look at the bigger picture. Look at the houses on either side of you and along your street. Look at the general color palette on the street and think about a color for your house that would not only make it look fantastic, but will also compliment the colors of your neighbors’ home. This will not only give your home an instant facelift, but it will also help make your street look more desirable in general.

Windows are the Soul to Your Home: Windows can be so easily overlooked when sprucing up and renovating homes. Whatever plans you may have for your windows, make sure that they are cohesive with the age and style of your house. Replacing old, tatty, and even moldy or rotting windows will instantly lift the look of your home and provide some much needed sunlight and fresh air into your quarters. This transformation is sure to boost your curb appeal if done right so take the time to explore several different styles before making your decision. You could go eclectic with some stained glass fixtures, classic with custom timber windows, or rustic by adding quaint wooden shutters. The possibilities are endless!

First Impression: The smaller details are just as important as the big when it comes to adding value to our homes. Dingy, faded, and old front doors are certainly not the first impression that you want to give off to any potential buyers or guests coming to your home for the first time. Make sure that you get your new paint spray machine out on your front door, too. Once you’ve painted your front door and it’s looking shiny and new, think about elements such as doorknobs and the sign to your house (if you have one) or your house number.

Look into solid, decadent looking doorknobs and stainless steel house numbers to really have your front door looking in tip top condition. These little extras are incredibly affordable and can make all of the difference to visitors getting excited about stepping inside of your much-loved home.

The Hall: The hall is your second opportunity to make a lasting first impression. Keeping the kids’ shoes stored away and all coats and scarves neatly hidden out of site is the first thing that must be done. Then, take a look around the space. How can you improve the overall feel and style of your hallway so that people instantly feel warm, welcome, and inspired by your home? It all starts with mirrors and lighting.

Hanging mirrors on the wall will open up small hallways and give the impression that they are larger than they are. Natural light will also give off a feeling of spaciousness. For evening lighting think of low, mood lighting that will create a soothing and calming ambience to the entrance of your home. Avoid harsh overhead lighting and invest in interesting lamps or low-lit floor lights for a warm and inviting atmosphere that beckons visitors into the heart of your home.

Ready, get set, and get to work on making your home look brand new and beautiful!

Securing Your Home On A Tight Budget

Standard
Securing Your Home On A Tight Budget

Home safety is always going to be an issue among homeowners. Sadly, it’s even more pressing when you consider living conditions, local community and, of course, our budget. Securing your home is easy if you have money to pour into fancy surveillance systems and smart devices, but what can you do if you’re on a tight budget? It’s hard trying to balance the costs we need to spend on our home, but with a couple of these home safety tips, you’ll be able to secure your home for less and still have peace of mind when you’re out and about:

Know Your Community: One of the best ways to secure your home is to actually get to know your neighbors. Whether you live in an apartment complex or a small community of houses, neighbors will naturally look out for burglars and criminals. You might even be able to join a neighborhood watch if there’s one available. This is great if you plan to be away for an extended period of time. You could simply leave your keys with a trusted friend or family member that lives close by and they can watch over your house and notify you if there’s anything suspicious or troubling happening.

Getting to know your community also means getting to know your enemy. If your area is notorious for burglaries and vandalism, then it might be worth considering a move in the future so that you can live in a safer environment. However, if that’s not an option for you, then you need to learn what the most common method of crime is in your area. Perhaps it’s people that smash into your home and break the windows and doors just to steal your belongings. Or maybe it’s someone more devious that sneaks in and picks the locks of your door. Whoever you’re up against, ensure that you have proper countermeasures to combat against it.

Changing Your Locks: The only way burglars are going to get into your house is either by smashing their way in or picking your doors. The smarter and more sophisticated your locks are, the more likely you’ll deter them. If you’re up against burglars that destroy everything in their path and loot your home, then a new lock isn’t going to make a huge difference and you should probably invest in something like a heavy-duty door and window shutters.

However, if you’re more concerned about lock-pickers, then a sturdy modern lock will be your answer. If you look at https://www.bradleyssafeandlockworks.com/, you’ll find plenty of information regarding expert locksmiths, the types of locks that will really protect you from burglars, and even some information on safes to protect your most prized possessions.

secure1

Sock it, lock it, put it in your pocket.

Remove Hiding Spots: Even if your locks are secure and your neighbors are looking out for you, you need to ensure that the burglars have nowhere to hide. Motion lights are one of the most common things to install to protect your home from burglars. If a motion light detects them, they will be illuminated for cameras, neighbors, and even you to see.

Try to park cars inside of your garage instead of outside of your home because it gives the thief less space to hide. Trim hedges and cut down trees or plants so that they have fewer places to hide and maneuver in the dark. If you do have cameras, make sure that there are no walls or fences near them because thieves will sometimes block off cameras so that you can’t record any evidence. Also, make sure that those cameras have a clear view and that their vision isn’t obstructed.

Deterring Them Is The Best Defense: If burglars really want to steal your belongings, then they will do so without hesitation. For instance, they’ll smash your doors, break your windows, and grab as much as they can before making a run for it. They’ll create so much noise that it’s hardly subtle and they will just run off, leaving very little time for the authorities to react. This is why deterrence is the best form of defense. Most burglars are going to be sneaky and pick your locks, disable your alarms, and steal your belongings without you even knowing. The less that they have to worry about, the more likely it is that they will steal from your home.

Let’s say you install a fake alarm. The burglars might see it and instantly be turned off from the idea of stealing from you because they don’t want to risk being caught. However, if an experienced burglar sees it, then they have two options. Either they try to steal from you anyways, knowing that the alarm is fake. Or they avoid you in case the alarm isn’t actually fake. This plays with the thieves psychologically. They see that your house isn’t very well defended, but at the same time, they don’t want to risk being caught.

Another good way to deter thieves is to simply leave your lights on. If you’re worried about savings, then you can install smart lights that automatically turn on at set intervals, and they can even be controlled with smartphone apps across the internet if you get high-end models. They’re quite expensive, but turning on the lights normally can also work. This alerts the thieves because they might assume that someone is at home, meaning there’s a higher chance that they will be caught.

To summarize, visual deterrents are a fantastic way to keep burglars away from your premises. It could be something as simple as stickers to let thieves know that you have an alarm or just making your alarm visible by keeping it at an easy to see location. This article at https://www.safety.com/ will give you even more ideas to help you deter burglars if you’re still looking for inspiration.

What You Need To Make Your Home Entertainment Ready This Summer

What You Need To Make Your Home Entertainment Ready This Summer

With summer approaching, fashions will start to change. Looking good is important all year round, but once the weather starts to become warmer and you spend more time in the park or basking in the sunshine outside of a bar, you will need to think about the perfect summer outfit. Your winter coats and cozy sweaters will be there waiting for you in the fall, but in the meantime, your look will have to change. As everyone knows, being stylish takes a lot of time and attention, but it is worth it. Carefully choosing what you wear is important because you want to make a good impression but as April cedes to May, and May acquiesces to June, you may also be thinking about hosting a garden party.

Having your friends over and just relaxing really is the best part of the season (except perhaps going on vacation). However, if you are going to be a good host, you will need to make sure that everything is perfect. There is a lot of think about. Do you have enough food for everyone? The best advice is to get more than you think you’ll need. After all, you can enjoy it on your own once all the guests have gone home. You also need to ensure that you’ve got enough for everyone to drink. Most guests will be good enough to bring something themselves, whether it is a bottle of wine or something a bit stronger, but there is nothing that lets a party down quite as much as not having enough alcohol!

You also need to make sure that your home is ready for guests, too. Tidying up is one thing, but if you want your house to make as good of an impression as you do, you should consider fixing it up a little. There is still time before summer starts in earnest and the convenient thing about home improvements is that they last for the rest of the year. Here are a few ideas about things that you can do to make your home perfect this summer:

First impressions are crucial. It is estimated that when you go for a job interview you have just six minutes to impress your prospective employer. When you are meeting someone for the first time in a casual social situation, you have just seven seconds before your interlocutor has made up their mind. When someone sees where you live for the first time, it is no different. That is why you should try to improve how your house looks from the street. You could hire Local Roofers to give your place a better look or think about getting new windows (both of which, incidentally, can help you save money and energy). If you do not have the time to start major work on your house, you could clean your driveway and outer exterior with a high-pressure washer. You will be amazed once you start at just how clean things used to look, and can look again.

If you are hosting a garden party, your guests will probably not spend that much time in your house, so all you have to worry about is that it is clean and tidy. The bathroom, in particular, should be spotless because people will use it at one point or another. However, your focus should be on your garden. Mowing your lawn and dealing with any pesky weeds is the first thing to do, but then you should think about investing in some garden furniture. Standing for an entire afternoon or evening is no one’s idea of fun and sitting on the ground may not appeal to everyone. And, you can use it too on those long summer nights when there is nothing better than reading a book outside while perched on some comfortable bench cushions and relaxing.

An outdoor party will require a shady space to hang out at with a cold drink when the sun gets too hot. You could have a few patio tables with umbrellas set up, invest in sun setters, or go with something very practical like portable event gazebos. Pop up gazebos can create a welcome oasis from the sun so your guests are comfortable all day long. This is a much more affordable option than renovating your outdoor space to create shade and can be taken down easily after the party.

A good barbecue is another essential item. If the food that you cook (whether it is hot dogs and burgers or roasted vegetables) is not great, that is what your guests will go away remembering. If you do not have a good sound system, your party will be doomed before it even begins. You could play something from inside and open your windows, but a much better option is to get outdoor equipment. It can be rather expensive, but if you want to create the perfect atmosphere, there is no better way of doing it.

Finally, while everyone wants to be outside during the summer sometimes the weather just doesn’t want to behave. It might be storming or way too hot to be outside comfortably. If the party moves inside, be sure there is enough entertainment to keep guests engaged. A business like Audio Video Excellence in Arizona (Or a similar one in your local area) can upgrade your home with smart technology. This is ideal for audio and home theater systems so that your guests can continue to enjoy rocking tunes or settle in for a movie after playing patio games outdoors.

Ayyyyy

The only thing that you need to do now is relax and enjoy yourself. You may think that having loads of people over and entertaining them could be stressful but the secret is that if you let your hair down and have some fun, your guests probably will, too.

Creating A Restful Bedroom

Creating A Restful Bedroom

Your bedroom should always be your sanctuary. It should be that one place where you can really let yourself go, relax, and rest after a stressful day. Of course, it is easier for all of that to happen if your bedroom is set up to be as restful and relaxing as possible! Here are a few ways that you can improve the peaceful mood of your bedroom and turn it into your favorite place to kick back and unwind:

Blow the Budget on a Good Mattress: If you do nothing else to transform your bedroom into a more restful space, you should splurge on a brand new mattress. If you’ve never had a really good mattress before, it’ll be impossible for you to truly understand how much difference a comfortable, supportive mattress can make.

When buying a new mattress, it is always a good idea to visit a bricks and mortar store to try out a few styles, because everyone’s comfort levels are different. Once you know which mattress suits you best, you can always check out http://www.us-mattress.com/ to save a few bucks off the in store price of your chosen bed.

Invest in Better Bedding: Of course, the comfort of your bed is about more than just the mattress, which is why you should also take a look at http://www.down-comforter-info.com/ where you will find the warmest, softest comforters you’ve ever had the joy to sleep with. You should also probably check out more supportive pillows and high thread count sheets made from natural fibers if you want to be able to rest and relax without any aches, pains, or irritations.

Can the Clutter: It’s impossible to rest and let yourself go when you’re surrounded by clutter. Not only are piles of clutter visually stimulating, whether you want them to be or not, they can also be a source of stress, which gives you the feeling that you should be cleaning instead of taking some me time. Luckily, getting rid of your bedroom clutter is as simple as visiting http://www.ikea.com/ and buying a few storage baskets and boxes where you can hide your most unsightly clutter.

Ditch the Desk: If you have a desk in the bedroom from which you sometimes work, it might be time for a rethink. By associating the bedroom with work, even just occasionally, you are ruining the area’s reputation as a restful location for relaxation and sleep. Ditch the desk and replace it with a pretty dressing table for a serener space and leave work for the home office!

Serene in Green: If your bedroom decor is currently bright, bold, and in your face, a visit to http://www.homedepot.com/ might be in order because those crazy colors are doing nothing to help you relax. In the bedroom, you want to keep things nice and chill. Toned down colors like mint green, pale blue, white, and cream are all good options that won’t stir up the senses too much.

Add Comfy Furniture: One mistake that many homeowners make is that they do not add enough comfy furniture to their bedrooms. Sure, they’ll have a nice bed and perhaps a chair at the dressing table, but what about the big comfy armchairs, couches, and chaise lounges? These are the things that will make spending time in your room easier, more comfortable, and infinitely more relaxing. So if you have space, add a couch or recliner and you’ll get much more use out of your bedroom. If you want to make your bedroom not just comfortable but unique, search for different furniture at an Amish furniture store and make the space exactly how you want it.

Blackout Blinds: If you like to relax in a slightly darkened room with some classical music and a nice scented candle, blackout blinds are your best friend. They will filter out the harsh light of the sun, allowing you to create a comfy, cozy atmosphere at any time of the day or night. They’re great if you have trouble sleeping due to excess light, too.

Candles: Candles should be a staple in any bedroom. They provide a good source of soft, warm light, which is perfect for relaxing after a hard day at work. AND, they can make your room smell wonderful. Choose candles scented with lavender and chamomile if you want to de-stress and fall into a restful sleep.

Transforming your room from uninviting to restful and relaxing may take a little time and effort, but it is well worth it when you have a space where you can truly unwind and sleep like a baby! Zzzzzz….

Breathe Easier In Your Home

Breathe Easier In Your Home

We think that our home is a safe and healthy haven for our family and that we don’t have to worry as opposed to when we are outside in the open world. But there are actually a lot of hidden dangers lurking in our home. And a lot of people don’t even realize what they are. One thing that you need to turn your attention to is the air quality in your home. It’s important to make sure that it’s on point so your family doesn’t have to deal with allergies and even asthma attacks. However, a lot of people are living with poor air in their home, which is damaging to their family. Here are some ways that you can improve the air, so that you can all breathe much easier in your home!

Be Wary About the Air Fresheners You Use: To ensure that you have fresh and clean air in your home, you might want to consider using some form of air freshener. You can often spread these around the house to improve the air in all of the rooms in your humble abode. You can either get ones that stand alone or even ones that plug in to improve the air. But, you need to make sure that you get the ones which have the least chemicals. There are some air fresheners out there that actually emit allergens and toxins which can make the air even worse. Try to avoid air fresheners which include pollutants including benzene and styrene. Or, to ensure that you get an air freshener which you can trust, you might want to make your own. That way, you will know exactly what is going into the air freshener. There is plenty of advice online on how to make DIY air fresheners for your home.

Cut Out Smoking in The Home: While the number of people smoking has dramatically reduced in recent years, there is still just under one billion worldwide enjoying a cigarette every day. And while it can have stress-reducing benefits, there is a wide range of health problems that can arise from smoking cigarettes. For example, you are at a higher risk of lung cancer and heart disease if you smoke cigarettes on a regular basis. Moreover, if you do smoke in your home, you could be damaging the air quality. And not just for yourself either; your family, too. Secondhand smoke can damage your family’s health as much as it’s currently affecting yours. And if you are smoking inside, it can irritate your kid’s allergies, and you will soon find that they are coughing more. Stick to smoking outside in the future to keep the air supply healthy in your home.

Get an Air Filter For Inside Your Home: When the air isn’t circulating properly, you might find that there is a buildup of dust in the air in your home. To fix this, look into getting an air filter for your home or replacing your existing 20x30x1 air filter. With one of these, the air will travel around your home properly. And it can prevent dust and moisture build up, which will cause your family to struggle to breathe. It’s always good to have one of these if you use an air conditioning system, but make sure that you check it regularly. That way, if it does stop working, you can quickly fix it with something similar to a Delta air cleaner replacement.

Dry Your Clothes Outside: A lot of us opt to dry our clothes indoors so we can keep an eye on them to check whether they are ready to be ironed and put away. But, when we dry our clothes inside, there can be a buildup of moisture in the air. And this can cause the air supply in your home to take a turn for the worse. You are also more likely to get things like damp if you are drying your clothes inside. It’s definitely worth drying them outside on a clothes line, instead, to keep the air supply healthy in your home. If not, keep some windows open while drying clothes to help some of the moisture escape.

Create a Dust Free Environment: When we are busy in our life, it’s easy to not keep on top of cleaning our home. Totally understandable. But, if anything, try to keep up on dusting. Set aside at least ten or so minutes a day to give the home a sweep with the Swiffer Dusters. And remember to try and declutter the home, too! It’s easy for dust to build up under piles of clothes or books!

ALSO: Try to increase the plants in your home, as they can filter toxins from the air. Opt for a plant like a peace lily or an English ivy which can both purify the air and look lovely.
