Howdy! lifewithlilred has been a big part of my life for so long that I honestly forget how long it has been around for lol. It always comes as a surprise to me when I get the WordPress email that my domain name is about to renew and this time around was no different. You could have knocked me over with a feather when it dawned on me that my little corner of the internet is celebrating its Eleven Year Blogiversary! Not to mention over SIX YEARS of publishing daily content. Holy wow, it really is quite an accomplishment and I am so very proud of it. ❤
lifewithlilred started out as a pleasure project when I first started college and honestly it wasn’t even my idea. At that point, I was regularly posting pictures of my outfits on Facebook and I was getting constant comments that I should start a blog. I had always loved writing and, of course, fashion and I decided to go for it. I am so glad I did because I could not imagine my life without my blog baby today. lifewithlilred has given me countless gifts that I am eternally grateful for. It introduced me to my best friend in the world, provided me with the space to create, have fun, and be my most authentic self, and opened up an entire blogosphere with the most amazing people. I put myself into lifewithlilred fully and I was rewarded in ways that I will always treasure.
Of course, the most important aspect of lifewithlilred is you. My dear readers and beloved friends. You have been with me through life’s many ups and downs, through thick and thin, and every milestone for the past eleven years. You know me well and it is my complete pleasure to know you too. The blogosphere is my friend and I truly mean that. Whenever anything happens, you are the first person I want to tell and I eagerly await to put words to keyboard to fill you in. That is something that I can’t thank you enough for. lifewithlilred has shown me that you are all here with me no matter where we are located and because of that, I am never ever alone. ❤
Here’s to eleven years of lifewithlilred and eleven more. I love you all!
More often than not, most of us will feel insecure. It may not be intense insecurity, and it may not severely impact our daily lives, but we can feel it all the same. It might be not feeling that confident in our jobs or worrying about how we look when we’re out with friends. As much as it can be frustrating, it’s quite common. But that doesn’t mean that you have to accept it as normal and live that way forever. In fact, you can look to do something about it as soon as possible!
It’s easy to think that some people are confident and others aren’t, but that’s not strictly true. Confidence isn’t something you’re born with; it’s something that’s built. If you’d love to be able to feel more confident in your skin and say goodbye to your insecurities, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we’re going to take a look at the best ways for you to feel more confident in who you are:
Practice Positive Self-Talk:
First of all, you may want to change the way you talk to yourself. If you’re used to being tough on yourself and beating yourself up in the way you think and speak about yourself, it’s going to really lower your confidence. When you’re more positive, it can help you to feel a lot more confident and happier in yourself.
Prioritize Self-Care:
It can also help to look after yourself a little better. It’s easy to think that self-care is just pampering and caring too much about your appearance, but it’s far from that. It can be relaxing, helping your mental health, and boosting your mood as well as your confidence. You may find that starting a self-care routine drastically changes how you feel.
Focus on Feeling Good:
You should also be proactive about feeling good in yourself. Buying new bras, taking yourself for a walk, or even having a little solo date night could help you to feel recharged and boost your mood. Treat yourself to something nice, grab a coffee from your favorite cafe, or simply take a pause when you feel like you could use a pick me up. When you find what works to boost your mood, you can keep turning back to it as often as you need.
Dress for Confidence:
You can also look to what you wear for a lot more confidence. You may find that if you’re wearing things that don’t make you feel good, getting excited about what you wear can change everything. Take yourself out shopping or order some options online. Once you find some pieces you love, you may feel a lot more confident in your skin. When you dress with clothes that fit well and enhance your best features, you are going to love what you see when you look in the mirror.
Embrace yourself, your quirks, and what makes you you. Doing so will always make you feel so much happier and confident in who you are!
Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Fruit Salad OOTD! This little look was worn to a beautiful summer wedding and it was the absolute best time. This is only the second wedding Johnny and I have attended in the six years that we have been together and all I can say is that I hope all of our other friends get married soon. If they want to, of course! Johnny and I truly come alive at a function and this wedding was so top tier. It was such a joy to be surrounded by all of our friends and so much love! I don’t have much love for these yikes shots, though! Check it out:
Always putting my best face forward
Lol am I about to pat my own butt?!
Serving the fiercest poses. Vogue, call me!
Lolololol I can’t with myself sometimes
All I can say is I LOOK GREAT
Loo-oooo-ser (Ace Ventura voice)
A final Blooper Reel bow. Thank you, you’re far too kind. ❤
My niece came over for a slumber party recently and we always wrap up the festivities by watching a movie and eating ice cream. It’s the best! We usually watch something animated but this time around she wanted to watch the second Descendants movie and honestly it was awesome lol. If you aren’t hip to it, The Descendants series are Disney Channel movies and feature a cast made up of the children of Disney princesses and villains. It’s such a fun idea and I LIVED for Disney Channel movies in my youth so I was pretty stoked to see some fairly recent ones. Although nothing will ever beat Life Sized! 😀
Back in my day, High School Musical was the breakout Disney Channel movie and The Descendants sequel really matched those vibes: Cute couple, set in a school, and the catchiest songs ever. I have legit had music from The Descendants stuck in my head for the past week and change and I’m not even mad about it. If you have littles that love the Disney movies and are old enough to watch it, I cannot recommend this series enough. It’s seriously just as much fun for the adults as it is for the kids. Throughout The Descendants there were so many throw away lines that referenced the animated films and it was such a delightful Easter egg hunt! I’m not going to lie, I just might have to watch the other movies by myself because they really are darling and such a comforting, creative blast of nostalgia. ❤
Going back in time with all things Disney and Disney Channel movies makes this auntie so happy and there is nothing better than unleashing your inner child every once in a while!
What was your favorite Disney movie? How about Disney Channel movie? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Hello!! After leaving an incredibly shitty work experience in March, I most definitely needed a bit of me time. During that Lil Red mental health retreat, I threw my hands up, said “screw it” (It was actually an expletive!) , and made a TikTok. What makes me really happy is creating content and I decided I needed more of that in my life – even if I am not the biggest fan of making videos. However, after close to five months of posting daily content on TikTok, I finally get it lol. It’s a lot of fun and I love shooting OOTDs, hiking, exploring, cooking, and any and everything videos. All of you have been onto something for a phat minute and although I am literal years late to the party, it’s better late than never! 😀
At the end of May, I was almost at one hundred followers and you have no idea how happy that made me. Fast forward to the here and now and I have around twenty five hundred and you have no idea how happy that makes me! For a page that is still relatively new, it might as well be twenty five million to me and I feel proud of that because my TikTok really is just for funsies. I don’t expect brand deals and billions of views. All I wanted was to go back to making content for me, myself, and I… And anyone who feels like watching or reading it and that is the prize in itself.
While I was in the midst of the not ideal work sitch, I was barely keeping my head above water let alone making content that I felt excellent about. And, in turn, I felt far below excellent because content creating is truly one of my forms of self care. It gives me a safe space to wear whatever I want, experiment, and simply be me. Even if my blog or TikTok got no views, it would be fine because it is mine and mine alone and I made it and had a blast doing it. My mental health has improved tenfold and it feels so SO good to be back in my zone and feeling completely like myself!
If you feel so inclined, I would absolutely love it if you joined me on my TikTok. If not, that’s okay too! I’ll see you around the blogosphere! ❤
What is your favorite form of social media? What makes you feel like yourself? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Morning in your kitchen is a whole soundtrack: The kettle sighs, a timer nags, a voice asks where the left shoe went, and someone is definitely humming Baby Shark again. You’re flipping pancakes while triaging notifications and trying to remember who needed money for lunch today. It’s a lot. And when the soundscape gets crowded, focus is the first thing to burn:
The Breakfast Rush Is a Sensory Storm:
You’re not “bad at mornings.” You’re managing a sensory pile-up. Competing sounds make it harder for your brain to sort what matters, like a quiet “Mom?” over a loud extractor fan. When your ears work too hard to catch the words, your brain borrows energy from focus. That’s how a simple recipe turns into guesswork, and why multitasking feels like walking through fog. Reduce the fog and you reclaim attention, without needing an extra hour or superhuman patience.
Focus Starts with Clear Hearing:
Here’s the sneaky truth: Aven a small drop in hearing clarity can feel like a big drop in attention. Your brain does overtime to fill gaps, predicting words, stitching context, reading lips, and that effort shows up as fatigue and distractability. You know that end-of-day “I can’t listen to one more thing” feeling? That’s cognitive load talking. When you make hearing easier, everything else gets lighter: You follow directions the first time, the joke lands, and the pan on medium actually stays on medium.
Small Sound Habits, Big Calm:
You don’t need to redesign your kitchen. Start with micro-wins:
Lower the loudest thing first (usually the extractor fan or TV) to lift voices out of the noise.
Use a visual timer for cooking so your brain isn’t babysitting beeps.
Create a “call corner” away from clatter; two steps to the hallway can turn chaos into clarity.
Ask for one-at-a-time talk during hot-pan moments. It’s not fussy; it’s safety.
Keep the same soundtrack for breakfast (a short playlist) so your brain isn’t decoding new noise every day.
The Tech That Frees Your Hands:
Modern hearing solutions aren’t just about volume; they’re about control. Directional microphones help you lock onto the voice right in front of you. Rechargeable cases mean you stop hunting for tiny batteries during the school run. And many models now include bluetooth connectivity so you can take a quick call from school, hear a timer or podcast clearly, or switch to a “kitchen” program, without juggling your phone while you’re juggling hot pans.
Choosing the Right Setup (Without Becoming a Tech Reviewer):
You want features that match your actual life, not a spec sheet fantasy:
Comfort first. If it doesn’t feel good by school pickup, you won’t wear it. Ask for soft domes or custom earmolds if you’re sensitive.
Programs that fit your day. A “quiet conversation,” “noisy restaurant,” and “outdoors” set will cover 90% of parenting life. Bonus points for a “speech in noise” mode that you can tap on quickly.
Moisture resistance. Kitchen steam. Look for devices rated to handle humidity and sweat.
Easy controls. A physical button or simple app beats labyrinth menus when a pancake is mid-flip.
Trial the real world. Bring your phone to the fitting, test calls, stream a timer, and stand near a whirring kettle. If it works there, it’ll work anywhere.
Make the Kitchen a Safe-Sound Zone:
Safety and calm are twins here. Keep alarms audible but not shrill. Put break-in points in your routine: “Flip, breathe, check” before the next step. If someone needs you mid-cook, ask them to touch your shoulder first, visual + tactile beats shouting from the hallway. And remember, kids copy what you model. When you show them how to create a quiet pocket for talking, they learn to do the same.
What to Do Next:
If your mornings feel louder than they should, get curious about hearing, not guilty. Book a hearing check, bring your daily chaos with you (figuratively), and describe the exact moments that feel hard: “I miss words over the kettle,” “I can’t hear the timer if the TV is on,” “I need to catch calls hands-free while cooking.” The right setup meets those moments on purpose.
Focus isn’t a personality trait; it’s an environment you can design. When you reduce noise, support your hearing, and choose tech that matches your life, you stop burning attention on the basics. Breakfast gets simpler. Voices get clearer. And your pancakes? Golden, not charred!
When you are constantly on with the challenges of every day life, it’s very easy to overlook the signs that our health might be slipping. Your body does, however, have a way of telling you when something is off. It’s just a matter of listening carefully. From the physical symptoms to mental fatigue, these are the early signals that are often your first line of defense from preventing more serious issues down the road. One example that is often ignored is the persistent ringing in the ears, which could be a sign of damage and may require professional tinnitus treatment. Here are the top signs that your health may need your attention:
You’re dealing with persistent fatigue that doesn’t go away: Feeling tired after a long day or a poor night’s sleep is normal, but if you’re constantly exhausted even after resting, it could signal something deeper. Chronic fatigue might be linked to poor sleep quality, nutritional deficiencies, stress, or even undiagnosed conditions like thyroid disorders or anemia. If rest doesn’t recharge you like it used to, then you need to dig a little deeper and speak to a healthcare provider.
There are changes in your hearing: If you’re struggling to follow conversations, constantly turning up the volume, or hearing a continuous ringing or buzzing sound, your ears are trying to tell you something. That ringing, known as tinnitus, is often a symptom of underlying hearing loss or nerve damage. There are different tinnitus treatment options available, but you do need to speak to an audiologist to figure out what’s best for you. Ignoring it can lead to further deterioration and even affect your mental health over time.
Shortness of breath or chest discomfort: If you feel breathless from minor exertion or notice tightness in your chest, it could be a sign of cardiovascular issues, respiratory conditions, or anxiety. While it may be tempting to dismiss these symptoms, they should always be taken seriously. Sudden or unexplained difficulty breathing warrants immediate medical attention, even if it doesn’t seem severe.
Frequent digestive issues: Occasional indigestion or bloating is normal, but if you regularly experience stomach discomfort, constipation, or diarrhea then it may be worth speaking to a specialist. Poor digestion can indicate food intolerances, inflammation, or even more serious gastrointestinal conditions.
Mental fog and mood changes: Feeling off, irritable, anxious, or struggling to focus could be your brain’s way of asking for support. Mental health is deeply connected to physical health, and issues like chronic stress, poor sleep, or nutrient deficiencies can all affect mood and cognitive functions. Don’t ignore your mental health therapy. Lifestyle changes on medication can make a difference.
Your body will give you clues when it needs your attention and you must not ignore the signs. Investing the time in your health right now will make a big difference in preventing more serious issues tomorrow.
Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! Johnny and I had the absolute pleasure of attending the wedding of our two dear friends recently and it was the most wonderful time. The groom actually officiated our wedding and the happy couple holds such a special place in our hearts! The wedding was held on an extremely hot summer day at a lovely reception hall at Hale Farm. I was unsure as to if there were outdoor portions of the evening so I wanted to wear a dress that would keep me nice and cool. I am so happy I did because the party gravitated into the great outdoors after a beautiful wedding! Check it out:
I have no idea where the flower stained glass earrings are from!
As the wedding was going to be on a ninety plus degree day, I decided that I would like to try to find a new sundress at TJMaxx. I had other options at home but they were all maxi style, a thicker material, or too casual for the event. I would have made it work but when have I ever turned down a shopping trip? I definitely lucked out because the Cynthia Rowley dress was the last thing I tried on and it was only ten dollars. SCORE!! My only regret is that I didn’t find it earlier into summer because it is just perfect for the season.
This dress is adorned in a fruit salad pattern featuring juicy kiwis, oranges, and pomegranates over an eggshell white background and it looks good enough to eat! The only not so good thing was the tiny buttons going down the center which were a pain in the booty to do with my nails lol. Hey, it was a small price to pay for an otherwise ten out of ten dress! This little number had a belt that cinched into a gorgeous hourglass silhouette and it made me feel like a 1960s housewife. I was so not mad about it!
I know several of the employees at TJMaxx and greet them like old friends. My favorite, however, is the fitting room attendant who is working almost every time I go shopping. I have known her for years and whenever I show her the winners, she will ask what shoes I am going to wear with it. When we talked styling this dress, I told her I was going to wear a pair of baby pink platforms and I earned a high five! The rest of this look was as easy as slipping on my pair of Marc Fisher platforms which matched my 1960s vibe to the T. For earrings, I pulled from the green and yellow hues of the kiwis in the dress and put on a pair of dangly flower shaped earrings that look like stained glass. With that, I was ready for a fabulous time at the wedding!
This Fruit Salad OOTD was oh so yummy and Johnny and I had the most magical time celebrating our friends! ❤
Do you have a favorite employee at the stores you shop at? Do you plan on shopping summer clearance? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Howdy! This past week, I took a trip to COSI which is a really cool interactive science museum in Columbus. It features exhibits that wow children and adults alike that include a trip to outer space, a dive under the sea, walking with the dinosaurs, and so much more. COSI also has pop up exhibits that change throughout the year and I was able to see an amazing section on sharks just in time before its removal on September first. This museum is so educational but extremely cool and it makes learning something new feel like play. Such a great way to spend an afternoon! Check it out:
Wayyyyyyy back in eighth grade, my class took a trip to COSI and I will never forget being so awestruck by the Ocean exhibit and my sentiments remain the same. As you walk through the hallway leading up to it, you can literally smell the chlorine and you just know you are in for something awesome! Entering the Ocean portion of COSI is like walking through a sunken ship and you can go one of two ways. Your first option is to visit a submarine headquarters where you can play games that allow you to control a submarine and explore the depths of the ocean. The second way to go, though, is truly the piece de resistance.
Option number two leads you into King Triton’s cavern and it is seriously breathtaking. From floor to ceiling is a huge statue of King Triton in a fountain that lets you control the water. It is just so spectacular and I could have stood there looking at it all day. Throughout the glistening cavern are different interactive activities that explore the movement and sound of water. You can balance balls on the tiniest geysers, make waves, create your own flow of water through pipes, and my personal favorite: The water bell. The water bell is a flow of cascading water that looks like… a bell lol. The cool thing is that after you put your hand through the bell, it no longer gets wet. My mind was blown!
Another major highlight of the trip was the dinosaur exhibit that reminds me so much of the Animal Crossing museum! The dino display is gigantic and showcases to scale dinosaur skeletons, fossils, eggs, feathers, footprints, and anything dinosaur related you can possibly think of. The dinosaur exhibit also features a portion specific to the relation of dinosaurs and birds as well as under the sea creatures. It explores taking flight, motion, hide or feathers, and skeletal structure. It was incredibly interesting and the similarities felt so obvious after all of it was laid out before you. I also really appreciated the way the explanations at COSI were written. While all of the information you see has scientific terms, the signage breaks it down into plain speak so you can fully grasp everything. I certainly learned a lot from all of the literature in each exhibit.
My final favorite part of COSI was an exhibit simply entitled Progress. I also remember this one from my eighth grade field trip! As you enter Progress, you step back in time to a bustling street in 1898. You can see all of the latest technology of the time like old fashioned cameras, telegram machines, and telephones as well as all of the different shops including an apothecary, general store, and hardware store. Once you are ready to time travel again, you leave 1898 and revisit the same street in 1962. My, how the times have changed!
In 1962, the street has completely transformed. There is a retro diner, a radio station, news station, and telephone booth. You can see vintage toys and games, food staples, magazines, and even an old time rocket ride outside of the toy store. My favorite part of 1962 was the appliance store because I absolutely love that style. There were funky refrigerators, blenders, radios, and huge box televisions. What a far cry from 1898!
What a fun little road trip to COSI. I can’t recommend it enough if you are in the area!
Do you have a museum similar to COSI in your neck of the woods? What is your favorite thing to learn about? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Skirt Alert OOTD! Despite the fact that I despise dressing for summer, I have been having a lot of fun styling all of the looks that you have seen this season. Having said that, can fall hurry up and get here now or? Your girl has been ready for fall since summer began and I cannot wait to dress for my favorite season of all! I have been gazing hungrily at all of my cardigans, scarves, hats, gloves, and jackets and I will be SO happy when I can bust them out! While I am counting down the days until cooler weather, I still want to enjoy shooting as many summer fits as I can… and laughing at them too! Roll the Blooper Reel, please!
Thinking about what I’m going to order at the restaurant we were on our way to
You’re looking at America’s Next Top Model. Drink it in, it always goes down smooth!
I swear to drunk I’m not god
Did someone say Mexican food?! Your girl was SO hungry lol
I was treated to the coolest lighting and THIS is what I do?!
Taking a pause to listen to the Margaritas that were calling my name
Let’s blow this Popsicle stand!!!
Johnny and I have been to many an amazing concert this summer and our lineup is not complete just yet. In fact, the best has been saved for last. That’s right, we’re seeing Weird Al at Blossom in September!! Weird Al has been a staple in my life for as long as I can remember. My older bros freaking loved him and I can recall listening to his CDs on our way to family vacations or just running errands. He has truly only gotten better and I have been blessed enough to see him live twice already. Whenever he comes to the greater Akron area, it goes without saying that I will be there with bells on!
Johnny loves Weird Al just as much as me and my big bro and we listen to him often. It’s just fun to sing along and get silly and I swear his lyrics are still funny no matter how many times we hear them. He has transformed songs for me to the point that I cannot hear the original on the radio without his lyrics swarming through my head. One of my all time favorite Weird Al parodies has got to be Whatever You Like (Original by T.I.). I also happen to LOVE the original song and have been hearing it on the radio a fair amount recently even though it was released seventeen years ago! You could imagine how happy I was to hear it again but as soon as I started singing along, I was spitting Weird Al lyrics lol. I just know that is exactly what he would want and I will forever be his number one fan. ❤
Weird Al will be the perfect finale to an excellent summer concert series and I cannot wait to tell you all about it!
What is your favorite Weird Al song? Have you ever seen him in concert before? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Your wedding ring is one of the most meaningful pieces of jewelry you’ll ever own. It’s not just a symbol of love and commitment, but it’s also something that becomes part of your look every single day. This is why choosing the right wedding ring is so important. It doesn’t matter whether you’re drawn to something modern or something timeless. Your ring should reflect both your personal style as well as your relationship. But no matter what you pick, the ring you choose will play a special role in your life and here’s why finding the right one truly matters:
It’s a daily reflection of your style:
Unlike your wedding dress or your suit which is worn just for a day, your wedding ring is something you’re going to wear every single day. This makes it one of the most personal style choices you’ll ever make. Trends like baguette wedding bands offer a fresh take on tradition, combining vintage elegance with modern minimalism. They have geometric cuts and clean silhouettes which give them a contemporary edge while still feeling classic. Whether one solo or paired with an engagement ring, they add a touch of sparkle that feels subtle and yet intentional.
It symbolizes your relationship:
Beyond the aesthetics, your wedding ring holds deep emotional value. It’s a physical representation of your commitment and your love. Many couples choose designs or custom details that hold personal meaning, from engraved messaging to birthstones or unique settings. When you take the time to find the right ring together, it becomes so much more than just a piece of jewelry, but it becomes a symbol of the promises that you’ve made and the journey that you’re beginning together.
It needs to suit your lifestyle:
The perfect ring is not just about looks, it has to work for your lifestyle too. Your ring should be designed to fit seamlessly into your daily routine. You need to choose something that’s appealing as an active wearer. A ring that has a low profile setting and smooth, clean lines is not just beautiful, but it’s practical. This makes it a great option for those who want a bit of glamour without sacrificing their comfort.
It’s a piece that you’ll treasure for life:
Your wedding ring is likely going to be one of the few accessories that remains constant throughout your life. It’s with you during milestones, quiet moments, celebrations and challenges, and over time, it becomes enmeshed in your story. It’s worth investing the time and thought into choosing a ring that resonates with you, something you’ll love just as much in thirty years as you do right now.
No matter the type of wedding band that you pick, the right ring will be a reflection of your love, your style, and your life. Pick something with care, wear it with pride, and let it tell your story every day!
