Fun Facts For Ya

Fun Facts For Ya

Hi everyone and happy Thursday! It’s only half way through April, but I feel like it is dragging on to no end. The weather in Ohio has been snowy one day and springy the next and I just can’t deal with Mother Nature’s mood swings anymore. So, to have a quick and easy post today, which is all I can manage when I’m in the bipolar weather blues, here’s some Fun Facts For Ya:

  1. I just saw A Quiet Place in theaters and it was pretty good! I wouldn’t call it as amazing as everyone else is, but that’s strictly because I’m not a fan of the “creature” related horror films. However, I will say that it was a very unique experience to be in a theater and feel like everyone is holding their breath the entire time, which really mimicked the vibe of the film.
  2. I have been holding off on getting a haircut for the past couple of weeks due to a lack of free time so it has been hats, beanies, and throwing my hair into a little bun all day every day. I’m over it!
  3. Other than fall weather, I love spring time temperatures where you just need a light jacket to feel comfortable. So, hopefully that will get here soon once Mother Nature is done throwing her bitch fit.
  4. This past year, I’ve really been making an effort to drink more water. But, I don’t think I could ever eliminate pop completely, as I am a Diet Coke fiend!
  5. My new favorite place in the world is a bar that I live close to called Quarter Up. It is two rooms filled with old school arcade games and table top board games and it is a blast! We just went for my sister’s birthday on Sunday and it was much enjoyed by all who attended.
  6. I am completely exhausted as I write this, because I had the craziest dreams last night so it was a night of restless sleep. Apparently, I was screaming in real life, which I thought I was just doing in dream form, sooooo that’s weird. Lol, shit.
  7. There is a slew of movies that I want to see in theaters soon including The Strangers, Blockers, Truth Or Dare, and Hereditary. Shockingly, it’s not all horror movies since I threw a comedy in there!
  8. Not to beat this into the ground anymore, BUT I can’t wait for warmer weather so that I can go running outside, which I really enjoy. Walking the hallways in my home to get my steps on my pedometer is getting really old really fast!
  9. I am a sucker for eating out and consistently crave Chipotle, Taco Bell, Indian food, and Mexican food daily. It’s my cross to bear, I suppose.
  10. It is my 24th birthday on June 7th and I am simply dreading it. I wish that I could stay 22 for forever – that was a good year.

Those are just a handful of fun facts about me – and I am looking forward to hearing some facts about you! What are some well or little known factoids about you? Do you have any unique or weird talents? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Back To Your Best: Back Care Advice

Back To Your Best: Back Care Advice

At one point or another as you get older, you are likely to suffer from some sort of back issue. Our modern lives involve a great deal of sitting down in hunched positions, which can lead to problems further down the line. As well as this, being overweight and having poor posture can all contribute towards pain and discomfort. And, as anyone who has suffered from back issues in the past will know, they can be quite debilitating. So, let’s talk through a few of the ways that you can take better care of your back so that you can reduce your risk of developing problems.

Prior to implementing any changes, it is a good idea to schedule an appointment with a doctor for neck and back pain treatment near you. The solutions might be simple like some of the ones below or they could be more involved. It is important to know that beforehand to prevent your situation from worsening.

Your Choice of Footwear:

It may come as no surprise that high heels cause more stress on your spine, but you may be shocked to learn that ultra-flat shoes like ballet flats and loafers can also be problematic. You should also avoid wearing flip-flops and other backless styles of shoes. All of these footwear types involve you tensing your feet, which will, in turn, put stress on your back. If you are going to wear heels, you are better off wearing small ones (around one inch). Even if you wear trainers all of the time, you need to remember that these wear out over time and will need to be replaced.

Your Workouts:

We have already discussed how a sedentary lifestyle can contribute towards a bad back, but suddenly launching yourself into an extensive workout routine isn’t going to do you much good, either. Instead, you should build up your physical activity slowly if you haven’t done any for a long time. And it is more important to make sure that you are practicing the correct technique – particularly when you are lifting weights of any kind. If you get into any problems, there is more info about a chiropractor here. Regular stretching is also important, especially before and after any workouts.

Your Mattress:

The type of mattress that you are sleeping on every night makes a big difference to the condition of your back. And while you might think that sleeping on a very hard mattress is the best thing if you suffer from back pain, there are actually many studies which dispel this belief. In fact, mattresses of a medium firmness have been found to be best when it comes to alleviating the most common symptoms of back pain. You should also replace your mattress every few years as it will wear down over time and won’t offer the same level of support that it once did.

Your Desk Set-Up:

Many of us have jobs which involve sitting down for hours on end, so you need to make sure that any workstations that you have are set up ergonomically to reduce any back pain issues which could be caused by your desk. You should aim to position your monitor at eye level to avoid having to hunch over to operate your computer. You should also position your chair so that you can rest your feet comfortably on the floor. Get into the habit of assessing your body position on a regular basis to ensure that you are sitting upright in your chair with relaxed shoulders. If you spend more than a couple of hours a day talking on the telephone, it is worth investing in a headset.

How is your desk set up?

Your Baggage:

The bags that you carry around regularly can also play their part in damaging your back and affecting your posture. If you have luggage such as a laptop bag that is always worn over one shoulder, you should avoid always wearing it on the same side as this can cause you to put extra stress it. Better still, you should switch to a rucksack which distributes the weight evenly between your shoulders. It is also worth emptying out your bag on a regular basis so that you are not carrying around any more weight than you need to.

Your Car:

Your car can be a particular source of problems if you spend a great deal of the day driving. Many of the issues are caused by seat set-up, so make sure that you position it to suit your needs and use some extra cushions if you feel like they are necessary. The vibrations caused by the car are a source of problems, so you should make sure to take regular breaks when you can to get out of the car and go on a short walk.

Your Health:

We already mentioned being overweight as a major cause of back problems, so you should take steps to cut down on excess pounds. If you are a smoker, you may be shocked to learn that back pain is on the long list of problems closely associated with tobacco usage. It is believed that smoking reduces the blood supply to the discs between the vertebrae, therefore leading to their degeneration. Too much stress can lead you to retain a lot of tension in your body. You should try to reduce the stress in your life, which can be another contributing factor by engaging in breathing techniques and meditation.

Or yoga!

Back pain is something that you want to avoid at all costs, and these are just a few of the ways that you can reduce your chances of suffering from it.

Hipster Hobbies: Becoming A Collector

Hipster Hobbies: Becoming A Collector

Have you been thinking of a new hobby that you could take up? Lots of people instantly think of getting involved with a sport whenever they start looking for a new hobby, but if you are not particularly sporty, then that suggestion might not impress you! Not too keen on reading or other creative pursuits, either? Well, there is one other idea that we have for you. In fact, this suggestion is quite trendy right now as many hipsters are starting to pursue it.

Why not become a collector and start a new collection? Not only does this give you something to do in your spare time, but it could also work out as a very valuable investment eventually. Some collections, such as stamps and baseball cards, can increase in value over time and you’ll be able to sell them for a tidy profit at some point in the future. That’s especially the case if you can add any very valuable items to your collection!

Ready to get started on your new life as a serious collector? Here are some tips that can help you get your new collection up and running:

collect1

Antiques are always a good way to go!

Realize Your Passion:

First, you need to think about what you are going to collect. It’s a good idea to start collecting something related to your passion and main interests. That way, you are a lot less likely to get bored of whatever it is that you are collecting. You should also have a fairly good background knowledge on whatever it is you are collecting, which will make this a much more interesting hobby for you to pursue. Thanks to this knowledge, you will probably already be pretty clued up on how to spot authentic items and which to pass on.

collect2

Pretty!

Catalogue Everything:

Once you start a collection, you should try and make sure that you don’t accidentally buy two or more of the same item. That would be a waste of money and will only take up space in your home, especially if the items that you are collecting are large. One way to prevent this from happening is to make sure that you catalogue everything that you buy. Don’t worry; this doesn’t have to be an extensive catalogue system – simply recording each item that you buy is enough to keep track of what you have in your possession. You should be alright keeping a record in a notebook, but if your collection becomes extensive, you might want to consider buying a specialist computer software to help you keep track of everything in your collection.

Buy Authentic Items:

You will find that some collectables can be rather expensive. As a result, there are a lot of people out there who are selling fakes and pretending that they are the real deal so that they can take advantage of collectors. To make sure that you’re not fooled by any scammers, you need to make sure that you are careful to only buy authentic items. If you do buy a forgery, you will find that you won’t be able to sell it at the price that you bought to make a profit.

Are you wondering how to make sure that you always buy authentic items? First, make sure that you use reputable sellers and shops. When you visit the website where you are hoping to buy your collectibles, you should make sure that there is a wealth of information about each item. They should also have accreditations that prove that they are the genuine sellers. If possible, try and find some reviews from other sellers, as well. Generally speaking, it is always better to buy from official sites instead of auction sites like eBay, as it is easier to figure out whether the seller is genuine or not.

collect4

Stamp collecting is always popular.

Sell & Buy:

When it comes to collecting, it is rarely a one-way street. You will find that the majority of collector sell as well as buy. This is, more often than not, for practical reasons. For example, they might need to make more space in their home for more valuable items and, therefore, sell off some of their lower value items. Or, it could be for financial reasons – some collectors sell off some of their items to make funds for more expensive and rarer ones. It’s a good idea to set up your own eBay site to aid your selling. If that sounds like too much effort for you, you could also sell through a genuine collectible seller or shop. Just remember that they will take a commission, though, so you won’t get 100% of the profits.

Work On Relationships With Sellers:

Once you start to regularly return to the same sellers, it’s a good idea to try and develop a rapport and relationship with them. Lots of sellers really appreciate their loyal customers, as they help them make a profit each month. You will find that the sellers you always go back to will be really appreciative of your business. As a result, you will find that they might offer you some discounts on buying in bulk and they could also offer you other special and exclusive deals. Plus, when they start to get a feel for the kinds of things that you are after, they could contact you to let you know whenever they get something new in their shop.

Think About Storage:

Ideally, you need to try and keep all of your collectibles in pristine condition. This way, they will retain as much of their value as possible. So, it’s a good idea to try and keep the items in their original packaging. You might also want to buy some display cases if you want to use your collectibles as part of your decor.

Lots of people find that starting a collection is a very worthwhile hobby and one that can bring them significant profits. Do you think this sounds like the one for you?

A Quick Home Maintenance Guide For Homeowners

Standard
A Quick Home Maintenance Guide For Homeowners

Homeowners need to get to grips with home maintenance if they’re going to keep their home running well and comfortable enough to live in. This quick home maintenance guide can give you a few useful tips that will help you to keep on top of things now and in the future:

Keep Your Furnace And HVAC Filters In Working Order:

If you don’t stay on top of your furnace and HVAC filters, dust and grime will accumulate and this will mean they run less efficiently, costing you more money. Allergens and pollutants can also get trapped, and you don’t want those being spread around your home. All you have to do is turn off the system and look at the filters to see if they are grimy. Check these over every year and be sure to schedule an annual maintenance check with your preferred home heating and air professionals to ensure that everything is in working order.

Recaulk Your Windows:

Heat loss in the winter happens due to cracks in the windows 80% of the time. Sealing the space around them will help you to solve this issue quickly, so you can keep your home warm and save money. Make sure that you choose the right caulk by speaking to a professional so that you can get it right the first time. If you book in a professional home inspection, they’ll look for this and give you tips on maintaining your home to help protect your investment.

Check Wooden Decks For Moisture:

Wooden decks must be sealed and stained to stop rot and permanent water damage. A splash test will give you a good idea if the sealant is still doing its job. You’ll see droplets on the deck if it’s working. If not, then you need to take the time to reseal your deck, doing this every 2-3 years in total.

Clean Out The Gutters:

Guttering is one place that often goes unattended due to it typically being out of reach and sight. However, cleaning out gutters is essential, especially if they’re not closed off. From the weather and elements, a lot of debris can become clogged up in the guttering and with rainfall, it can seep into the walls and internal structure of the home. Get up on a ladder to remove it yourself safely or seek guttering services to get it done professionally.

Check For Water In The Crawl Space:

You want to avoid mold and water damage to your house as much as possible, so just grab a flashlight and take a look. Have a look for changes in color, the corners, and the edges. You can also use your fingers to see if you feel any dampness. You need to make sure this is fixed by a waterproofing company in Arrington, TN or your local area before rainy weather comes, as you don’t want to let any more moisture in.

Touching Up Your Exterior Paint:

Your paint greatly contributes to your curb appeal, and staining will help to protect your home from rusting and rotting. Take your time and look for chipping, peeling, blistering, or cracking on every part, every summer. You may, then, need to take your time sanding, scraping, patching, priming, and re-painting small areas.

Maintain Your Fireplace:

If your fire isn’t running the way it should, it could go as far as killing you with toxic gases. At the very least, it’ll take up a lot of energy. It’s always better to build a relationship with a professional that you trust to help you with this. If you have a wood burning fireplace, then it’s especially important to stay on top of maintenance. Creosote is a by-product of burning wood and this can build up in your chimney and create a fire hazard.

Keeping up with simple maintenance will keep your home running smoothly and will save you money in the long run.

Confidence Boosting Secrets You Can’t Deny

If you are looking to improve the way that you think about yourself, it is a good idea to be aware of the many options there are available for you to do just that. The more that you know about how to boost your confidence, the more likely it is that you will be able to maintain a real sense of it for longer. In this article, we are going to look at some of the secrets to boosting your confidence, which you can’t deny are powerful. Give all of these a go if you want to feel as confident in yourself as possible. You might be surprised at the power that these methods really do hold:

Improve Your Appearance:

People often get confused or upset about the subject of improving your appearance. The fact is, that you don’t need to try and make yourself fit into a typical beauty standard in order to be confident or happy. It’s not about looking in such a way that society wants you to look, or even about trying to attract the opposite sex. It’s all about looking the way that you personally want to look, despite what others might think. For some people, the only thing they want is a breast augmentation. For others, all that is required is to dress differently or slim down a little. Whatever your own idea of beautiful is, follow it with your heart and it will lead you to a place of better self-acceptance in no time.

Go Outside Of Your Comfort Zone:

Probably the single most powerful way to build your confidence is to engage in acts which you find difficult or scary to engage in. In other words, you generally need to go outside of your comfort zone regularly if you are to try and feel as confident in yourself as you would like to. This can be done in a variety of ways. It might be a case of trying to complete a new kind of project – or maybe you just want to get involved in a new sport that you haven’t tried before. Whatever it might be, trying new things and becoming generally more adept at them will make you feel like you can do anything – which is absolutely true. You can.

Smile:

It’s a proven fact that smiling regularly boosts endorphins and helps you to feel better about yourself. If you are struggling with any other confidence-boosting method, then a simple and powerful one could be to just smile and relax. Even if you don’t feel like it, giving a great big grin could sometimes be the best thing to do. What’s more, doing it regularly will help you to change what you think of yourself in a profound way, so it’s definitely something that you should try out. You might be amazed at just how much of a difference it makes – and how fast it happens, too. For that reason alone it is something to consider, regardless of whether you have thought to do it before or not.

In this world, confidence is key and boosting it could be the best thing that you do for yourself.

Upgrade Your Evenings In With These Netflix Hacks

Upgrade Your Evenings In With These Netflix Hacks

Thanks to Netflix, nights in have gotten so much better. We now have a lot more options when it comes to finding TV shows and movies to watch. What’s even better is that it doesn’t cost anywhere near as much as a Sky TV package. Viewing some of the best movies and shows has never been so cheap! But did you know that your streaming could be so much better by using just a few simple hacks? Read on to find out more!

Upgrade Your Internet:

First things first, it is worth taking a look at your current internet package. If you are paying for just the basic package, it really is worth upgrading. That’s because your internet probably won’t be fast enough for top-quality streaming. It could make everything that you try and watch freeze or load really slowly. Not only that, but the picture quality probably won’t be fantastic.

So, buy some faster broadband, and you will notice a big difference in the quality of your streaming. You could even treat yourself to the best vpn for torrenting while you’re at it! If you do decide to look at some different internet service plans, make sure you shop around. Most companies tend to offer new customer discounts or special promotions for loyal customers. That way, you can be sure you are getting the best value for your money.

Once you have a fast and stable internet connection, you can start to research how to access Netflix titles from other countries. With surf shark and Netflix combined, you can set your VPN to your desired location, and find even more content at your fingertips. This is a great tip, if you find yourself watching the same movies often, and need a new catalog of films to browse.

Download Movies And Shows For Offline Viewing:

Power cuts might be very rare these days, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry! After all, you never know when the next big storm might hit your home. And you don’t want to be left without power and things to watch on TV! So, download some shows and movies onto your tablet devices for those times tht you need to watch something offline. This is also a great idea for long journeys, too. Just give your kids your smartphone with a film downloaded onto it and you won’t hear a peep from them throughout the entire trip!

Add Another Subscription For Even More Choice:

Netflix has some really great choices, but let’s face it. It doesn’t have everything, does it? For instance, there are still a few of last year’s Oscar-nominated films that still aren’t on the streaming platform. So, it could be worth adding an extra subscription service, such as Amazon Prime or Now TV. That way, you can improve your choices and you will never run out of things to watch.

Remove Your Guilty Pleasures From Your History:

Your viewing history will help the Netflix algorithm figure out suggestions for you. Unfortunately, one badly chosen movie or TV show will ruin your algorithm and it could start recommending you a load of old rubbish! Thankfully, you can delete your history. And that also comes in handy if you have a fondness for watching guilty pleasures, such as romcoms. You can remove them so no one else will know what you’ve been watching!

Ready to take your Netflix viewing to a whole new level? Well, you can do just that with all of the great hacks above. Movie night, anyone?

Drive Your Business To Success

Standard
Drive Your Business To Success

When you first start your business, you’ll feel like nothing can stop you, like you’ll be successful no matter what. But the harsh reality of it is, running a business is hard. There’s so many factors that could actually stop your business from becoming successful, especially in the beginning. So to help drive your business to success, we’ve got a few little tips for you that should help you along the way. Running a business is never going to be easy no matter what stage you’re at, but this should help keep you a step ahead of the game:

Focus On Idea Development:

The one thing that a lot of businesses seem to do is just stick to the one idea, which is fine in the beginning. You don’t want to be over complicating your business too early. But after a few years, and after a few successes, it is time for you to start thinking about branching out. The more ideas you have flowing, the more potential you have to start making money. To gather a few ideas, you could take a look at what your competitors are doing, and it has to be related to your niche to begin with. Selling a product completely unrelated to your company just isn’t going to work. But if it’s good, relevant, and you market it well, there’s no reason why new ideas can’t make you plenty of money.

Focus On Customer Relationships:

One of the keys to success within a business is the customers and the relationships you have with them. Some businesses just amble on with poor quality of care and attention towards their customers. We’re going to show you how to be different. First, you need to keep things professional yet friendly in all areas. People always assume that it’s just face to face interaction that has to be perfect, when in fact, over the phone or emails are the areas which cause the most issues. Even polite gestures such as an IVR to direct your customer to the right place is better than nothing. You can discover more about what an IVR is through that link.

If you are talking to them over emails, the last thing you want to do is come across as patronizing or angry if the customer is challenging you. Try and keep it formal at all times, and keep any anger at bay. Despite thinking that you might have covered it up well, customers pick up on the slightest of things, so remember your email etiquette at all times.

Finally, an important aspect of customer relationships is the ease of using your services. This includes being able to pay the bill without a hitch. Problems with payment can make people wary about returning again so you will want to look into card payment solutions for hospitality businesses or whatever your specialty is. The easier the process, the better.

Focus On The Facts:

You need to be constantly managing your statistics to see how your company is doing. We’re not just talking about your profits in general, we’re talking about individual areas. Monitor the sales of each product so that you can push for success in the areas that are failing. This process can be improved with Inventory Management Software for Retailers to boost efficiency and paint a clear picture of what your customers are loving. You can also then revisit the products that aren’t selling well to make them better.

Look into aspects of your business that are inefficient and find ways to improve. It could be as simple as allowing people to work from home or training employees more carefully. You could be using a service like ProcureAbility to provide advisory and management resources or creating task logs for employees to fill out as they go about their day. Finding what works will take some trial and error but you will be amazed at the difference it can make when you find something just right. You also need to keep a close eye on your employee performances. If you don’t hold regular reviews, it’ll leave employees tempted to slack, especially if they’re doing the same job over and over. Nurturing your employees is one of the main ways to drive your business to success.

Running a business is never going to be easy, but the above tips can certainly help to lighten the work load!

Spending Money To Save Money

Standard
Spending Money To Save Money

Money is by far the most challenging area for modern people to handle in their life. With jobs paying less than they have for a long time, the world’s finances in tatters, and temptations around every corner, it can often feel impossible to save a little for when times are tougher. This leaves a lot of people feeling worried about their position. Of course, it doesn’t have to be this way, and a lot of people have the tools that they need to start saving right in front of them; they just need to spend a little first.

With the world in such bad shape with money, it can often feel like you have to work to save wherever you can. While this can be a good mentality to hold, it can also cause some damage, forcing people to avoid spending anything at all. In cases where quality, time, and value are all factors, this doesn’t always work out. Instead of saving a buck, you will have to go back and pay again, resulting in spending over double what you initially budgeted. This sort of issue only applies to certain things. In most cases, any professional service should be handled like this, and you can find some examples below to help you to do it correctly:

Accounting/Investing:

Given that money is so important, it doesn’t makes sense for you to manage every aspect of it yourself. When it comes to something like taxes, you will need to work hard to make payments correctly, and this can be a challenge without the right skills. Making a mistake here will often result in fines which are far larger than the costs of some support.

Investing is another great example of “spending money to make money”, but it can be hard to know where to start. For something like investing, reputation is everything so you need to find someone you trust for help. Resources like AAIG or even local investing clubs can help give you the tools you need to make smart investment decisions.

Moving Home:

When you decide to move to a new place, there are a couple of people ready to help you; estate agents and moving companies. The first will be able to find your new place for you, dealing with the complex and monotonous paperwork which comes with it. The second will be there to help you to pack, transport, and move all of your items into your new home without (hopefully!) breaking anything.

Construction:

There are loads of parts of the home which you need to be qualified to work on. Electrical, plumbing, and gas can all be very dangerous, and the work that you do on these areas will often be refused approval on the grounds that you don’t have the right credentials. This can result in having to pay for the same fees more than once, resulting in big bills which will be hard to pay.

Hopefully, there will be very few times in your life when you need help like this. For the regular jobs, you will often be able to find people willing to work on a subscription-like basis, saving loads of time when it comes to booking them. In some cases, you might need something bigger, though. In either situation, spending a little extra can save you a whole lot, especially when you’re dealing with high-value items.

A Safe Home Is A Happy Home With These Tips

Standard
A Safe Home Is A Happy Home With These Tips

The home is the most valuable asset you own and, more importantly, it also lays the foundation for your entire life. Therefore, keeping it in the best possible condition is crucial for a whole host of different reasons. After all, failure to achieve this goal will bring huge repercussions. If you’re going to protect the home, however, it’s imperative that you check every box. Focus on the five simple factors below, and you won’t go wrong:

#1. Home Security:

For most people, home security is the main concern for maintaining a safe property. Burglars are smarter than ever, but modern surveillance systems should keep them at bay. Moreover, the fact that those devices can be monitored from smartphones allows you to gain that peace of mind on a 24/7 basis. A good relationship with the neighbors can help too, but taking matters into your own hands should be the priority. Secured doors and windows should consequently gain huge attention, as well. And, finally, investing in a quality safe from a company like libertysafe.com can protect valuables and precious items like photographs and family heirlooms.

#2. Weatherproofing:

While burglars may be the main concern, reality suggests that weather damage is just as likely. On the one hand, all homeowners are at the mercy of Mother Nature. Nonetheless, several precautions can still be taken to reduce any damage. Prevention will always be the best form of protection, and knowing how to defend the home against storms is key info. Likewise, flood barriers and similar products can be crucial investments for the future safety of the property.

Yikes!

#3.  Minimizing Damage:

Wear and tear is a natural thing that all homeowners will encounter at one stage or another. Many of those are fairly minor issues, but leaving them untreated can allow them to escalate. Calling a plumber to deal with your leaks or learning how to treat damp patches is crucial. Not only will this put your mind at ease, but it will also save money while keeping the home safe. On a separate note, smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors can protect the property as well as the family, too.

#4. Cleanliness:

Maintaining a safe home isn’t simply about preventing damage to the property. This is a place for your family to live and grow. To do this in the best manner, you’ll want to keep the home clean and tidy. Nobody wants to dedicate their lives to cleaning the home, which is why these simple tricks can have a huge impact. When coupled with the latest gadgets and appliances, you’ll remove the threat of picking up minor illnesses from germs in the home.

#5. Childproofing:

Whether we like to admit it or not, the biggest threats to our properties come from our own actions. This becomes increasingly apparent when kids are involved, which is why you must pay attention to the idea of childproofing. It’s impossible to keep your eyes on everything that the children do. From keeping consumables out of reach to covering electrical points, those small steps make a big impact. If you’ve completed the other tasks too, a safe and happy home is virtually assured.

Your home should be a peaceful getaway and the above steps will help it stay that way!

8 Ways To Keep Burglars Away From Your Home

Standard
8 Ways To Keep Burglars Away From Your Home

Burglars choose their victims carefully. Certain features can make your home a difficult target and may be more likely to put off potential home invasions. Here are just a few deterrents to consider:

Add exterior lighting:

A burglar can enter your house relatively undetected if you don’t have exterior lighting. Motion sensing lighting is the best option – it will only turn on when there’s activity below, saving you power and offering you protection from someone sneaking around.

Reinforce windows and doors:

Windows and doors with loose hinges or weak frames could be easy to break through. You should make repairing and replacing these a priority, especially if these weaknesses are visible from the outside. Locks on the inside of your windows and doors can also help.

Install a camera:

Security camera installation is an effective way of scaring off burglars. No burglar wants to be caught on camera, and they may immediately move on to the next property. Make sure that the camera is placed in the best possible location – a burglar may try to exploit a blind spot. If you are interested in installing cameras on your property, it’s a good idea to work with a professional team. Not only will they be able to select the most effective spots for camera placement but they will be able to evaluate the way your electrical system functions so you never have to worry about an overload. To start researching your options, simply enter a search for “Electrical Services in Glendenning” (or your local area) and book an appointment to better protect your home.

Make fencing less climbable:

A small fence that’s easy to scale could be an excellent entry point for a nimble burglar. Adding latticing to the top of your fence can make it harder to climb. You can also consider anti-climb paint. This is a special type of paint designed to stain the clothes of trespassers and make surfaces more slippery. If your current fence isn’t cutting it, you will want to team up with experts in Fence Installation to get the job done right. From there, you can choose from your options like height, material, and aesthetic for the perfect match for your yard.

Prevent burglars from window shopping:

You should be wary of onlookers being able to see through your window, particularly if you live on a busy street. Burglars may try to take a peek inside your home to see what valuables you may have. You can prevent them from being able to do this by using blinds or net curtains. Bushes outside a window or a high hedge aren’t recommended as these can have the adverse effect of being easy to hide behind, making it easy to break in undetected. If you have high hedges or lots of bushes outside your window, consider trimming these back.

Lock away expensive garden items:

Don’t leave out barbecues and lawnmowers where they can be seen by peeking into your garden. Lock these valuables away in a shed so that burglars don’t know you own them. Make sure your shed door is secure, as this can often be another weakness for burglars to exploit.

Use dummy deterrents:

You can often trick burglars into thinking you’re a difficult target. Dummy CCTV cameras can sometimes be enough to scare off thieves. A ‘beware of the dog’ sign, even if you don’t have a dog, could also make burglars think twice about breaking in. Other deterrents include leaving a light or TV on in your home when you’re not there.

Be careful what you put on social media:

Burglars are now using social media to find their victims. Posting up holiday snaps and updates can be risky as it could show that no one is home. If you are going to post photos and updates, you might be better off posting them once you get back.

Nothing is more important than the safety of the people inside of your house. Scaring away thieves before they even think of doing anything is optimum for your home security.
