How To Prevent Dust In Your Home

How To Prevent Dust In Your Home

Dust can find its way into any space, explaining why even with closed doors and windows, you may still find a thin layer on your surfaces. Dust generation in your home can negatively affect your family’s health and well-being. That is because dust contains harmful pollutants and allergens which can trigger allergic respiratory responses. According to research, the average home collects 40 pounds of dust annually, indicating how essential it is to know how your home generates dust and how to prevent it. Here are a few tips to help guide you:

Tiny openings and cracks:

Gaps around your windows, doors, vents, and your home’s foundation, can provide small openings for dust. Although these tiny openings may not be noticeable initially, they become conduits for significant amounts of dust to enter your home. That explains why people who travel away from home for long periods cover their essential items to protect them from dust. You can help reduce the dust that comes through these openings by weatherstripping and sealing gaps. After taking care of the cracks and tiny openings, consider alternatives like screen installation to limit indoor dust accumulation.

Air vents and HVAC systems:

Another way your home can become dusty is through the air vents and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. These ventilation appliances interact with outdoor air to function, which sometimes leads to dust accumulating in the ducts of your HVAC system. Aside from causing mechanical problems (for which you may need to hire a repair company like Sandri Energy), this dust can remain afloat for longer hours and breathing it in increases the risk of respiratory problems, especially in children, aging adults, or persons with weakened immune systems. When your HVAC system is on, its air circulation function forces dust from the vents into your living space.

Experts recommend cleaning your home’s air vents and HVAC system often. Doing this will enhance appliance performance and also improve indoor air quality. You will be amazed by the difference after your scheduled appointment. Do you need a HVAC company? Make sure you do your research before selecting a professional as you will want someone who comes highly recommended. Ask friends and family members if they have any leads or simply enter a search for “HVAC service Florence, SC” (or your local area) to take a look at online reviews.

Human and pet activities:

Daily activities in the home, like cooking, cleaning, and even walking around, can generate dust. Food particles released into the air while cooking may land on surfaces and accumulate into dust over time if not cleaned. If your windows have nets, these particles could also get trapped in them and, due to their oily nature, may eventually trap dust. Meanwhile, sweeping and vacuuming can stir up a significant amount of dust which can stay on surfaces for a long time. It is best to thoroughly clean exposed surfaces immediately after cooking to reduce the dust generated by these home activities. Sometimes, a multipurpose surface cleaner is best, especially because it can cut through grime.

If you have indoor pets that shed, they may also contribute to dust in your home. That is because their fur traps dust and dust mites when they’re outdoors and they inadvertently transfer it indoors. Dogs and cats, especially, shed wherever they go. It will help to brush their fur regularly to capture loose hair and dander straight from their bodies to prevent dust from getting trapped in their fur.

It’s important to take a multi-faceted approach to reduce dust in your home. Making a conscious effort to keep your home clean at all times will help create a home with better indoor air quality for all!

Is A Bunny The Pet For You?

Is A Bunny The Pet For You?

Hello!! Johnny and I have had our sweet Lionhead bunnies, Melvin and Penelope, for over two months now and they are the absolute best. I have wanted pet rabbits for so long and it was worth the wait because I couldn’t imagine having anything but Mel and Pen. Prior to bringing our bunnies home, I did extensive research to make sure that Johnny and I could provide amazing care for them because they deserve nothing less. Having a small animal as a pet might seem easy but there is so much more that goes into it than you would think. If you are considering adding a pet bunny to your family, think about all of the following before you make your choice. Remember, pets are a life commitment!

image_50439169(3)image_50424321(8)

Constant Cleaning:

The girls who I adopted Mel and Penelope from were working on litter training them and Mel was pretty good about using his. Penelope, on the other hand, would go potty right outside of the box and that meant not only cleaning litter boxes daily but the surrounding bedding too. It took a little over a month to get both of them going consistently in their boxes and it took a lot of trial and error with the placement, amount of boxes, and hay and treats in the litter area. The fact that they use the boxes now is so awesome but it is still something that needs cleaned daily so they can live their best lives.

Oh yeah, the cleaning outside of the hutch is a constant too so make sure you have a broom and pan as well as a Dustbuster. It is astounding how much bedding, bunny hair, hay, and food pellets can make its way outside of their hutch in just one day. Thankfully, this is one thing that I don’t deal with because it’s Johnny’s chore! πŸ˜€

Time Commitment:

Mel and Penelope live in a great big hutch but come out twice daily (Morning and evening) to play and explore our bunny proofed area of the apartment. Their “recess” can last anywhere from a half hour to two hours and is such a necessary part of their well being. They deserve to run around, jump, and go on bunny adventures to decrease boredom, have fun, and keep them at a healthy weight. If I didn’t mainly work from home in the mornings, I would have had to take a second thought about adopting them. Because their rec time is so important, I get up at 5:15 during the work week to make sure they can come out before I leave for my other job.

Nonstop Chewy Orders:

Bunnies are surprisingly more expensive than you would think and I put in an order for supplies on Chewy at least once a month. These orders include essentials like bedding, food, and hay as well as their toys, treats, and spray cleaner for the hutch. Not to mention going to the grocery store weekly for their leafy greens and other safe veggies and fruits for them to consume (This is very important to research!). If this is a monetary commitment that you can’t make, it is best to hold off because every item listed (and others not included) are absolutely necessary for them to live healthy, happy lives.

Adequate Space:

There should be at least one bunny proofed area in your home that you are okay with your bunnies roaming in and I highly recommend it to be hard floored. My bunnies rarely have accidents outside of the hutch but it would be such a pain if they aren’t litter trained and are playing on a carpeted area. The hard flooring also helps keep their nails filed! Be vigilant about bunny proofing your area because they are such curious little things and that can really increase their chances of hurting themselves (IE: A stack of something falling, a space that is too tight of a squeeze, etc).

The list above isn’t even scratching the surface of how much care pet bunnies entail and you must think realistically if a bunny is a good pet for you. Despite all of the hard work, they are truly the perfect pets for me and Johnny and it makes me feel so good to care for them every day. I promised that Mel and Penelope would have healthy, happy lives and I know I am making good on that! ❀

What kind of pet do you have? Are you considering adding a small animal to your family? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Transform Your Home In 2023

Transform Your Home In 2023

The new year is a time for new beginnings. Even if you have already scrapped your new year’s resolutions, there are still plenty of ways to bring forward change in your daily life. How about using this as an opportunity (or excuse) to finally redecorate or renovate your home? With that in mind, here are some top tips that you can use to transform your home in 2023:

Tap into your own creativity:

Your home should be your safe space, a place where you can truly relax and be yourself. As such, your design choices should be a reflection of your personality, not the catalogues of the latest interior design magazines. Tap into your own creativity and create the kind of home you’ve always dreamed of. For example, while neutral tones are set to be one of the biggest design trends of the year, if you love bright, bold colors, don’t be afraid to showcase them throughout your home!

Seek out some inspiration:

Many people feel as though they are unsure of where to start when decorating their homes. However, reading some Amazing furniture and home guides could serve as an excellent starting point. This is because it will help you to understand what colors, furniture, and styles pair nicely together – or even help you find the perfect pieces for your home makeover.

Learn about color psychology:

Whether you’re redecorating your entire home or a single space, learning about color psychology (The way in which different colors impact our mood) can help you create the kind of space you enjoy spending time in. If you are struggling to get enough sleep, you may want to feature soft, pastel colors in your bedroom. This is because β€œcooler and more neutral tones are less visually stimulating, so they are more restful to the body and mind.”

Remember, the finer details make all the difference:

Spoiler alert: you do not need to carry out a complete remodeling of your home to create a meaningful change. In fact, smaller details often make the biggest difference. The right lighting can make a space appear bigger, brighter, or more welcoming. An art feature, such as a photo wall or canvas piece, can create an interesting focal point. Paying attention to the smaller details that are often overlooked could also add luxury to your home.

Embrace the change of a new year starting in your home with these tips!

Protect Your Home From Water Damage With These Tips

Standard
Protect Your Home From Water Damage With These Tips

Water damage is one of the most common forms of property damage and it can be incredibly costly to repair. In many cases, water damage can be prevented by taking a few simple precautions. This post will discuss some tips that will help you protect your home from this usually avoidable damage:

Inspect your plumbing regularly:

Inspecting your plumbing regularly is one of the best ways to protect your home from water damage. This means checking that all faucets, shower heads, toilets, and other fixtures are in good working order. If you notice any leaks, replace the broken parts as soon as possible. You should also take a look underneath sinks and around plumbing fixtures for any signs of corrosion or blockage.

In addition to regular inspections from a Plumber in Grand Prairie, TX or your local area, make sure that you are aware of potential signs of trouble with your plumbing system. For example, if a toilet is running continuously or a faucet is constantly dripping, this could be an indication of a larger issue. Pay attention to higher than normal water billsβ€”it could mean that there is a leak in your pipes somewhere.

Check your water heater:

Another important step in protecting your home from water damage is to check on the condition of your water heater. Make sure that you inspect all parts of the unit, including its temperature and pressure relief valve, anode rod, and any seals or gaskets.

Invest in preventive maintenance:

In addition to regular inspections and checks, investing in preventive maintenance can help protect your home from water damage. This may include having professionals come to inspect and clean out drains, pipes, toilets and other fixtures. Additionally, you should consider installing sump pumps or battery-operated back-up pumps in areas where there is a high risk of flooding.

Know the signs of water damage:

It is important to be aware of the signs of water damage in order to quickly identify and address any issues. Look for discolored or warped walls, floors, and ceilings as well as any abnormal odors or musty smells in your home. If you notice mold growth on surfaces around your house, this could indicate that there is an underlying issue with your plumbing system. If you see these telltale signs, you’ll want to search for β€œwater damage chicago” or your local area to rectify things before they get worse.

Keep your roof in optimal condition:

Finally, one of the best ways to prevent water damage is to keep your roof in optimal condition. Inspect your roof regularly for any signs of wear and tear, such as cracked or missing shingles and other signs of aging. If you can’t do an inspection on your own, it is wise to call in a roofing expert to do a routine check. To find a professional for the task, simply enter a search for β€œRoofing contractor in Denton, TX” (or your local area) to get the process started. Using a local contractor can ensure faster response times and familiarity with regional weather conditions. Make sure that your gutters are clear of debris so that they can properly channel away rainwater from your home’s foundation and siding. If you notice any signs of damage on your roof, it’s important to call a roof repair company as soon as possible to come and have a look.

By taking these steps to protect your home from water damage, you can help avoid costly repairs down the line. Although some of these tips may require a bit more effort than others, they are all essential components when it comes to safeguarding your property against unwanted damage.

Renovating An Old Home? Check Out These Tips

When it comes to renovating an old home, there are a few key things to keep in mind for the project to be a success. It’s important to be prepared because there’s a lot that might challenge you when going through this huge undertaking. Here are some tips to help guide you through the process:

Start with a plan:

Before any work begins, it’s crucial to have a clear idea of what you want to accomplish with your renovation. Make a list of the specific areas of the home that you want to update and consider how those updates will fit in with the overall style and architecture of the house. This will help you to create a comprehensive plan and budget for the project, which will help to keep you on track and so you don’t overspend on unnecessary items.

Prioritize structural updates:

An old home may have structural issues that need to be addressed before you can move on to cosmetic updates. These types of updates can include foundation repairs, roof replacements, or updates to the electrical and plumbing systems. While these types of updates can be costly, they are essential to the safety and longevity of your home. By taking care of these issues, your home will be safe and secure for you and your family, and prevent costly repairs down the road.

Make energy-efficient updates:

Energy-efficient updates can help to reduce your energy costs and improve the overall comfort of your home. These might include adding insulation, replacing flimsy siding and doors, or installing a high-efficiency heating and cooling system. These types of updates can be a bit more expensive initially, but over time, they can pay for themselves in energy savings. Another way to do this is to install new windows; Renewal by Andersen window replacement can help you with that.

Be prepared for surprises:

Even the most well-planned renovation projects can encounter unexpected issues, such as hidden mold or old wiring. Be prepared to adapt your plan as needed, consult with experts when necessary, and make changes to your budget to accommodate any unexpected expenses.

Do your research:

It’s important to research the best contractors to hire, the most cost-effective materials, the top ways to make your home more energy efficient, and the latest technology for your renovation to achieve the best outcome. This will help you to find the right team to work with and make informed decisions about the materials and products you’ll use.

By following these tips and keeping an open mind, you can renovate an old home with confidence and turn it into a beautiful and comfortable living space that will stand the test of time.

How To Recover Stress-Free After A Work Injury

Standard
How To Recover Stress-Free After A Work Injury

Injuries can happen at any workplace, no matter how safe the environment is. If you find yourself injured while on the job, it can be a scary and overwhelming experience. However, there are steps that you can take so that your recovery is as stress-free as possible. Let’s get started:

Stay Calm:

The first step in recovering from a work injury is staying calm. It may be hard to do this in the heat of the moment, but remaining calm helps you think more clearly and make better decisions about your next steps. Take deep breaths and focus on staying present until help arrives to make an informed decision about what comes next. Being knowledgeable about workplace injuries can also help maintain your sense of calm as well as assist in making an informed decision after the fact. Take the time to learn the policies at your place of employment and find out how does workers comp work there. Every job site is different so this will be valuable information to have.

Document Everything:

Any professional at a personal injury law firm will recommend that after an injury occurs, document every detail, including when and where it happened, what caused it, who was involved, and any other information that might be important. This documentation should be completed while everything is fresh in your mind so that you have accurate answers if any questions arise later. In addition, be sure to document all conversations with supervisors or other personnel related to the injury incident. This is going to be most important, especially if you choose to work with a personal injury lawyer like https://www.warfortol.com/ or one in your local area.

Seek Medical Attention:

When an injury happens at work, seek medical attention immediately if necessary. Even if you don’t feel like anything serious has occurred, it’s essential to follow up with a doctor for further evaluation and treatment if recommended by a health professional. From there, your doctor might suggest a visit to a specialist or put in an order for X-rays. If the latter is the case, you may need to head to a practice that offers X-Rays in Lake Hopatcong, NJ (or your local area) for the procedure to be carried out.

Make sure that any medical visits related to the injury are documented for further review by employers or insurance companies if needed.

Understand Your Rights:

After being injured at work, you must understand your rights when going through workers’ compensation processes or filing a legal claim against your employer if necessary (depending on circumstances). Researching relevant laws and getting yourself an expert Personal Injury Attorney ahead of time will give you a good idea of what type of compensation is available so that you know what steps you need to take to receive them (if applicable).

Follow Up With Employer:

Once medical attention has been sought out and documented accordingly, follow up with your employer to check that all paperwork related to the injury is filled out correctly and filed within the required time frames (depending on state laws). This is also something that a personal injury lawyer like Stewart Bell (or a similar practice in your local area) can assist with. It can be most helpful to have someone in your corner, especially if you are feeling anxious about the situation. Keep copies of all documents related to the injury for future reference and check back with your employer periodically for updates or changes regarding the incident that may have occurred since its initial reporting date.

Take the time to research the protocol for your employer about work related injuries so you will know exactly what to do if getting hurt on the job ever happens to you or a coworker!

Lush Vampire Kisses Lip Scrub Review

Lush Vampire Kisses Lip Scrub Review

Hello!!! This winter, my skin hasn’t been too bad in terms of dryness but my lips are a completely different story. It feels like they have been chapped constantly and in the eternal words of Napoleon Dynamite, my lips hurt real bad. I am in a never ending battle of applying and reapplying chapstick and I have yet to come out victorious. However, I think I found my new secret weapon that was gifted to me by my bestie this Christmas – a lip scrub from Lush! Check it out and let’s discuss:

image_50420993(4)image_50443777(1)image_50382337(3)

My sweet Kate of Live In The Nautical hooked it up this Christmas with a care package of Halloween themed Lush goodies including the Vampire Kisses scrub. I am convinced that all Lush products have magic in them because they always seem to leave a noticeable difference after just one use, which was certainly the case with the scrub. In fact, I used it for the first time about a half hour before writing this post and it is the most soothed that my lips have felt all winter.

To start with, the Sour Grape scent smelled amazing and tasted just as good! I love the smell of artificial grape because it smells purple if that makes sense? Even if it doesn’t, just know that it was a delight and there was nothing sour about it. As I was applying it, I definitely consumed some and at first I was like “oh shit” and then I remembered it was a sugar scrub lol yum! πŸ˜€

I left the scrub on as I showered and washed it off during my cleanser routine and I could feel right away how effective it was. The Vampire Kisses scrub helped to remove all of the dead skin that was halting the healing process. It left my lips feeling so completely smooth and well hydrated thanks to shea butter being one of its ingredients. I also felt like the chapstick I applied afterwards was able to actually work because it wasn’t just sitting on top of flaky skin.

I am so eager to use the Vampire Kisses scrub by Lush again now that I know how well it works. I highly recommend it if you’re suffering from chapped lips and my only regret is that I don’t have one of their lip balms to use afterwards. I think I see an online Lush order in my future!

What is your remedy for chapped lips? What is your favorite Lush product? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

How To Make Your Business More Eco-Friendly

How To Make Your Business More Eco-Friendly

Going green is not only good for the environment, but it can also be good for your business. There are many ways that you can make your business more eco-friendly and this post will discuss some of the best ways to do so. In addition, you can reduce your environmental impact and improve your bottom line by making a few simple changes. Read on to learn more:

Reduce energy consumption:

One of the best ways to make your business more eco-friendly is to reduce energy consumption. This can be done in a number of ways, such as installing energy-efficient lighting and appliances, using motion sensors for lights, unplugging idle equipment and computers, aiming for 100% renewable electricity or carbon offsets, or investing in green energy sources such as solar power and wind turbines. You can also turn down thermostats during the cooler months and take advantage of natural light whenever possible. Then, you can enlist the help of sustainable branding strategy experts to better showcase your company’s eco-friendly efforts to the masses. By doing these simple things, you can significantly reduce your business’s energy consumption while also cutting costs and reducing your overall environmental impact.

Another good way to reduce energy consumption is by using solar panels with battery storage. You’ll be able to use energy generated by the sun, which is free of course, and that will help reduce your monthly expenditures on utilities. It also ensures you’re reducing your carbon footprint too.

Recycle:

Recycling is an important part of making a business more eco-friendly. Not only does it help to reduce the waste created by the business, but it can also save money on materials and resources. Recycling can be done in many ways, such as separating recyclable materials from non-recyclables, donating or selling used items, investing in reusable packaging and containers, or taking advantage of digital documents instead of printing. Businesses can also look into composting food waste to make use of the nutrient-rich soil produced by composting. Recycling is an easy and effective way to reduce waste while helping to protect the environment.

Purchase green products:

When shopping for items, look for ones with labels such as β€œEnergy Star” or β€œEco-Friendly” that indicate they are energy efficient and made with renewable resources. You can also look for items made with recycled materials, certified organic ingredients, and sustainably sourced materials. By doing so, you will be supporting businesses and manufacturers that have taken the extra steps to reduce their impact on the environment. For instance, if you are renovating your offices and want to know how to renew your walls look no further than https://www.stikwood.com/blog/how-to-install-wood-planks-on-your-wall.

Another way to make your business more eco-friendly is to switch to green cleaning products. Many traditional cleaning products contain harmful chemicals that can have a negative impact on the environment and human health. By switching to green options, you can reduce your business’s environmental footprint while still keeping surfaces clean and germ-free. Look for items such as plant-based solvents, biodegradable detergents, natural enzymes, recycled paper towels, and washable wipes instead of disposable ones. You can also try using vinegar or baking soda instead of harsh chemicals for everyday tasks.

Encourage sustainability:

Once employees are educated on sustainable practices, businesses can encourage them to take part in eco-friendly initiatives and helping towards causes such as the business’ PEF (Product Environmental Footprint). Companies should offer incentives and rewards for those who make an effort towards becoming more environmentally conscious in their workplace. This could include a reduced work week or flexible hours, monetary bonuses, or rewards such as tickets to a local art event or free coffee vouchers. Finally, companies can organize group activities that focus on environmental sustainability like tree planting events, beach cleanups, or waste audits that will further increase awareness and participation in eco-friendly initiatives.

Start implementing these tips today and watch as your business becomes more environmentally conscious!

4 Concerns About Feeding Your Dog Answered

4 Concerns About Feeding Your Dog Answered

When you have a dog to care for, feeding them is always going to be one of the major things you need to get right. As long as their nutrition is how it should be, they are going to be so much healthier in general, and you will find that you are more likely to feel that you are really caring for them. There are a few key and common concerns that you need to be aware of if you are keen to feed your dog properly. Let’s take a look at what they are:

The Right Amount:

One of the simplest things you need to get right can also ironically be one of the hardest: Knowing how much to feed your dog. Getting the amounts right is important because, otherwise, you might find that you struggle to keep them healthy. You need to research the specifics of the breed of dog you have, along with considering their size to ensure that you feed them right. Too much, and they might experience the problems of being overweight. Too little, and they might be malnourished, so you must find the balance. Find out more at https://www.zumalka.com/blogs/blog-pet-health/health-issues-caused-by-feeding-your-dog-or-cat-the-wrong-diet.

Routine:

A lot of people swear by having a routine for feeding their dog, and this is something that you will want to think about. For one thing, dogs are smart enough to know a routine and to fall into it. This makes it easier for you too, because they will know that their food is coming at a certain point in the day, which will stop them from begging for it at other times of the day. Generally, feeding at the same time each day will benefit both of you.

Human Food:

Many owners get to a point where they start wondering if they can feed their dog any human food, along with the dog food that should be the staple. As it happens, there are a lot of human foods that your dog can eat, and some that are even quite good for them. Just take a look at https://www.nextritionpet.com/blogs/nutrition/can-dogs-eat-mussels for an example. But you should always take care when doing so, and make sure, again, that you have thoroughly researched the matter and discussed with your vet before feeding them something specific.

Budgeting:

The dog food is one of the main expenses, if not the main expense, that you will have as a dog owner. So you need to make sure that you are able to afford it. If you are not, it might be something that you need to think about before getting a dog. Expenses for pets can add up quickly between the vet, grooming, food, and toys. Your dog deserves to have what it needs to live a healthy life and food is one of the most important aspects.

As always, remember to discuss any changes to your dog’s diet with their vet so you can make the best choices for your companion!

Lil Red’s Book Club: Joyland By Stephen King Edition

Lil Red’s Book Club: Joyland By Stephen King Edition

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new edition of Lil Red’s Book Club! Today, we are going to be discussing a super fun read by Stephen King called Joyland – without giving any spoilers away, of course. Set at the old fashioned amusement park, Joyland, in Heaven’s Bay, North Carolina, this book was completely charming. And, yes, I realize that Stephen King’s books don’t get described as that often but Joyland was such a far cry from his usual full fledged horror writing and I couldn’t put it down! Before we begin, I will be putting a trigger warning on Joyland for violence and murder. Now, let’s get to it:

image_50769153

Summertime is approaching for twenty-one year old college student, Devin Jones, and he is in desperate need of a job. He is utterly heartbroken from his previous relationship, broke, and wants to be anywhere but cleaning up in the dining hall. On a whim, he decides to apply at Joyland as a general employee after seeing an ad in the classifieds. During his trip to the park in Heaven’s Bay, North Carolina for his interview, Devin decides that there are worse places to spend his summer and accepts the gig.

During his tour, Devin learns that Joyland is an old school amusement park with carny flare. There are a few big rides but the majority of attractions offered are for the entire family, making it an ideal summer destination. The games, rides, and vending stands are all ran by year round “carny from carny” folks, which is The Talk for a family of carnival workers. Don’t worry, you’ll get familiar with The Talk (Joyland’s secret lingo) soon enough! Joyland is in the business of selling fun but there is one ride that even the bravest employees don’t like to be around – the Horror House. A young woman, Linda Gray, was murdered on the ride and it is believed to be haunted. Oh yeah, and the murderer is still at large.

After a few short weeks, it’s time for Devin’s summertime job to begin and he enjoys it immensely. Kind employees like Lane, Fred, and Pop take him under their wings and show him the ropes about everything from operating rides to “wearing the fur”. AKA dressing up as the park’s mascot: Howie The Happy Hound. He has even managed to make a few friends, Tom and Erin, who live in the same boarding house as him and also work the park. Devin spends his days working hard and is eager to get a glimpse of the Horror House ghost and maybe even solve the mystery of her death.

As summer continues on, Devin becomes a staple in the lives of Annie and Mike Ross who live in a beautiful beach home that he walks by every day to and from work. Annie is a young mom and her son, Mike, has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which confines them to their home. And, let’s just say that Annie makes it a bit easier for Devin to forget his ex girlfriend! In fact, Devin decides to stay on as a full time employee at Joyland – half for the Rosses and half for Linda Gray.

Thanks to some research from Erin, who is now back at school, her findings show a pattern of other young ladies killed in a similar fashion. Linda Gray’s killer has murdered several girls and Devin is nowhere closer to solving the crime. But, there’s something about the photos that Erin shows him that bothers him. The pictures of the killer at the park with Linda has a familiarity to them that he can’t put his finger on. Perhaps, the killer has been under everyone’s noses the entire time. Will Devin be able to bring the killer forward and put Linda Gray’s ghost to rest? Read Joyland to find out!

I seriously loved everything about Joyland and my only regret is that it wasn’t longer. After I read the last page, I told Johnny that I wished there was more or that a TV series was made about it. It was just so good and, honestly, really cute. And, once again, it feels weird to me to describe a Stephen King book as such! King’s writing made you feel like you were walking along the Joyland boardwalks with Devin and the carny Talk that the employees used further enhanced the old time park vibes. It was such a fun read that I wanted to take a ride on the Carolina Spin and Delirium Shaker myself!

While this book was based around solving a murder, it was really not as gruesome as you could imagine for a King book. It almost seemed like an afterthought to the story of Devin growing into an adult. It was exciting to read about the unsolved crime but it was even better to read about Devin’s sweet relationship with Mike and the other characters that made Heaven’s Bay special. I enjoyed how character rather than plot driven Joyland was and I wanted to be friends with all of the people who graced the pages.

I will say that the grand reveal was very easy to solve and that’s okay. I think anything too convoluted would have taken away from the overall simplicity of the story. I actually wouldn’t mind reading it again from the perspective of knowing who the killer is because certain parts immediately popped out at me and I’d like to find more. If you like to play detective like me, just keep in mind that everyone puts on a mask when they are in the business of selling fun.

I am going to award Joyland with the coveted ten out of ten stars. Stephen King might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I think that everyone will be able to find something that they like about this book. I highly recommend it and plan on reading it again in the future!

What are you currently reading? What should I read next? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
