Reader Map Update

Hi everyone and TGIF! As you guys know, I love keeping track of all of the fantastic readers that I have in over ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE different countries via a world map and push pins in my room. I haven’t posted an updated picture of my map in a while so I figured that there was no better time than the present since I broke the one hundred and sixty barrier. Take a look! And also enjoy my featured image photo which is a picture of my boyfriend’s dog, Karma! I love her big ol’ puppy smile SO much! :)))

I am so very thankful for all of my fabulous readers located from all of the different ends of the earth and I feel so proud every time I look at my reader map. It used to hang on display in my room but unfortunately, the wire that runs across the back of the board snapped months ago and both my dad and I have yet to address it. Every time it gets brought up, the classic phrase “I’ll do it later” comes up but rest assured that it is propped up on a very special place on my floor. 😉

Hi everyone and TGIF! The next few posts on lifewithlilred are going to be all about my fall fashion haul that took place last weekend. I thought we would start from the top by discussing two gorgeous new hats that I can’t wait to top off my looks with this fall! Take a look:

Hat Haul:

  • Black Calvin Klein bobby hat: TJMaxx, $16
  • Mustard Yellow turban: Forever 21, $7

TJMaxx: While shopping at TJMaxx with my mom to find some new fall staples, my eyes locked in on my gorgeous new CK hat and I knew that I had to have it. I have never owned anything Calvin Klein before and at sixteen dollars, I thought the hat was a steal. The fit of the hat screams London Chic and the chain accent on the front is a great edgy detail to complete the look. I am planning a European trip for the spring of 2017 and I can totally picture myself ambling about the streets of London in this darling bobby style hat.

Forever 21: One of my favorite things to do when I have some spare time during the day is online shopping! I love browsing the pages of my favorite stores and drawing inspiration for spicing up my wardrobe. On Forever 21’s website I saw quite a few turbans that I was obsessed with so on Monday, my boyfriend and I went to the mall to check them out. Even though he told me that shopping in F21 with me was what purgatory must be like, he did treat me to this pretty crocheted, mustard yellow turban! Mustard yellow is one of my favorite colors to wear and this turban looks perfect against my bright red hair and pale skin. Shout out to my boyfriend for braving Forever 21 with me for this fabulous new addition to my fall accessories! ❤

Hi everyone and TGIF! Welcome to the month of September here on lifewithlilred! My first week of the fall semester went as good as it can get but I am so looking forward to the three day Labor Day weekend! With summer coming to a close, I had to squeeze in wearing as many dresses as I can sans tights before the cold weather begins. Because I was feeling pretty, witty, and gay I enlisted the help of my lovely mother to take some new pictures of yours truly. I feel like I haven’t posted some Lil Red pics on here in a while so it was long overdue! Check them out and have an awesome weekend! 1) Not Paying Attention To Ingredients

To get an accurate idea of what components are present in the product, check the back of the box where the list of ingredients is displayed. Nowadays, people are aware that silicones and parabens are bad for the skin while hyaluronic acid and ceramides are good. However, don’t just scan the list for bad or good ingredients to Fix Your Skin. You need to take note of the order in which the ingredients are displayed.

Sometimes pharmaceutical firms may overload the ingredient list with fillers. So, some of the beneficial vitamins may get buried at the bottom. Keep in mind that fillers are like empty vitamins. Make sure you are looking for products that are rich in natural oils, healthy antioxidants, and vitamins.

2) Avoiding Sunscreen

One of the biggest mistakes people make while going out in the sun is skipping sunscreen protection. Yikes! One of the major reasons why you should not leave your makeup brushes unclean is that you are subjecting your skin to dirt, bacteria and other kinds of irritants. These can cause rosacea, acne, and even eczema. So, the smart thing to do is to wash your brushes every week with a soft sulfate-free cleanser.

According to various skin experts, smoking is one of the habits that you need to stay away from and it is one of the major skincare mistakes to avoid. The ill consequences of smoking are well documented in the media, and everyone is aware of them. The immediate effect of smoking is that it leads to dehydration of the skin and early aging. It dries the skin and absorbs all of the nutrients. So, in no time, skin becomes saggy, pale, and wrinkles start to appear.

5) Not Drinking Enough Water

One of the most common skincare mistakes many people make is not drinking enough water. Frankly, it is the easiest and most important thing that you need to do every day. Did you know that water is one of the best moisturizers that you can give to your skin? If you don’t drink enough water, your skin will become dehydrated and blotchy. Various doctors and health experts agree that it is important to have at least 6-8 glasses of water each day. Consuming a lot of water will make your skin glow as it helps in flushing out harmful toxins from the body and keeps skin hydrated from the inside.

6) Avoiding Fruits And Vegetables And Going For Junk Food

Fruits and veggies are the richest sources of minerals, vitamins, and various other antioxidants. They help in maintaining the elasticity of the skin and also in keeping it healthy. You need to include them in your diet as recent studies have shown that carotenoids present in fruits assist in improving skin tone. Doctors and skin experts feel that junk food not only has harmful effects on your waistline but also on the skin. The biggest cause of breakouts is junk food like white bread, soft drinks, fried snacks, and pizzas. They produce oil and clog pores, thereby impacting the health of the skin.

Final Verdict:

Trying to avoid these common skincare mistakes and having healthy skin can be a huge challenge. Your day-to-day duties for your family, friends, work, and other events are bound to come in between your skin care routine. It might not always seem like the right thing to do but you have to put yourself first. Taking care of yourself is just as important as caring for others. Man Crush Monday: Zahn McClarnon Edition

Hello everyone and happy Monday! Lifewithlilred has lacked a new Man Crush Monday for a while now because I thought I had all of my celebrity crushes covered…but after seeing Zahn McClarnon on FX’s Fargo, I knew that I thought wrong. My dad and I are big Fargo fans so when we finally got around to watching season two and McClarnon’s character, Hanzee Dent, was introduced I was completely dumbstruck. Take a look at some pics of this handsome hunk of a man and let’s discuss:

Dear Zahn McClarnon,

If there’s one thing that I love in a man, it’s cheekbones that you can cut glass with. If there’s another thing that I love in a man, it’s long, luscious, flowing locks. So needless to say, when you made your debut on Fargo as Hanzee, my jaw dropped to the floor. You are literally the most gorgeous man that I have seen on TV in years and I am not just saying that. Not only are you incredibly good looking BUT you’re incredibly talented! You were hands down one of the best parts of Fargo Season Two and I loved watching you every time your character appeared. I was just as impressed by your strong and stoic demeanor as I was by your striking features and that really says something about you as an actor! I hope to see a lot more of you in the future and if you read this then please marry me.

What a guy, what a guy, what a heck of a guy. For those of you who haven’t hopped on the Fargo train, then I cannot recommend it highly enough. Both seasons are excellent and you have some fantastic eye candy to ogle at, too! Obviously.

Hello everyone and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! Today I celebrate my 22nd birthday in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina. This is my first time becoming another year older away from home and I’m so excited to be able to celebrate the birth of beautiful me while I’m on a family vacation! I want to thank all of my guest bloggers that are helping maintain lifewithlilred while I’m away. And, of course, I want to thank all of my wonderful readers for being such amazing friends. Lifewithlilred would be nothing without all of you!

Summer Body Workout

Hi everyone and welcome to another guest blog compliments of the lovely Jess over at Acorn Life & Fitness. I am so freaking excited about this post because lifewithlilred has never had a workout themed anything because I don’t workout! I was thrilled when I learned that Jess was a fitness guru and had her create a workout regimen special for my readers to get that perfect summer bod. Check out Jess’s post and then please be sure to give her page some love!

Summer Body Workout

When it comes to burning fat there’s only one way to do it: cardio. Unfortunately, I despise cardio with a passion so I’m always looking for ways around it. So far, I’ve found that doing a HIIT style cardio workout is the best way to burn as much fat as possible in a short amount of time, while also toning up! HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training so, like the name suggests, it’s short bursts of really hard work. For me, it’s better than going for a run or sweating it out on the cross trainer for 40 minutes because you can be done a lot quicker and you tend to get faster results.

The whole idea of HIIT training is to do an exercise for a short amount of time at full force and then move straight onto the next exercise. It’s pretty hard to get bored of what you’re doing which is a huge bonus for me!

This is a HIIT style cardio workout that I’ve designed. It can be adapted to your wants/needs but it’s a good place to start! You want to do each exercise with as much intensity as you can (while going at your own pace!) and try to only take a 30 second to 1 minute break between circuits. If you need to take more/longer breaks, then do. There’s no need to hurt yourself. But if you can, try not to rest during a circuit. I’ve put a step-by-step description of how to do each exercise at the bottom of the post if you’re unsure about how to do any of them!

I’m going to be making a series of these HIIT style workouts on my blog (targeted at core, upper, and lower body) so if you’re interested in trying out the different routines check it out!

Circuit One:

2 mins jog in place

1 min jumping jacks

2 mins jog in place

30 sec burpees

Circuit Two:

2 mins jog in place

1 min in and outs

2 mins jog in place

30 sec squat jumps

Circuit Three:

2 mins jog in place

1 min in and outs

2 mins jog in place

30 sec burpees

Circuit Four:

2 mins jog in place

1 min fast feet

2 mins jog in place

30 sec squat jumps

How to Safely do Each Exercise:

Jog in Place – Gently jog on the spot, you’ll get tired of this quite quickly so don’t push yourself too hard!

Jumping Jacks – Also known as star jumps, start standing with feet together and hands by your side. Jump into the air and land with your feet a little wider than shoulder width apart and hands swept up in the air and repeat.

Burpees – Starting in a standing position, crouch down to the floor with your hands and jump feet out into plank position (hands and feet on the floor with back straight). Now, lift feet back into crouching position and stand. Repeat as many times as you can in the time given.

In and Outs – Sitting on the floor, lift your legs off the floor and out in front of you (bend at the knees to make it easier) and rest your hands on the floor to support you. Your body should be in a ‘V’ shape with only your bum and hands touching the floor. To make the ‘in and out’ action, bring your knees and chest together and then back out again.

Squat Jumps – Start standing, feet shoulder width apart and hands out in front of you for balance. Squat down until your thighs are parallel with the floor (remember to stick your bum out!!) and then jump as high as you can. This all should be one swift motion.

Fast Feet – This is essentially just jogging in place REALLY fast. Like the name says, move your feet as fast as you can. You don’t need to lift your knees high!
