Bath & Body Works August Freebie

Howdy!! I always get so excited when a Bath & Body Works coupon book arrives in the mail because ninety-nine percent of the time it contains a percentage off and a freebie coupon. The latest one I received was for ringing in all of the autumn scents and was actually one of their better ones. There was a free travel size product as well as twenty-five percent off your purchase. Usually it’s only twenty percent so hell yeah because every little bit helps. During my break on Tuesday, I stopped in to cash in my free product and will definitely be back for a reup of my foaming hand soap soon. I don’t need a restock quite yet but that twenty-five percent off is too good to pass up! Let’s take a look at my freebie and discuss:

If I am not rocking a fruity fragrance, I am a vanilla girl through and through. Ever since I was little, my mom and I would revel in all things vanilla because that’s her favorite too and our sentiments have yet to change. So whenever a new to me vanilla scent is on the market at Bath & Body Works, I always have to see what that’s all about! Is Vanilla Romance the best vanilla scent I have ever tried? Not especially lol but it is nice enough just not nice enough to eventually purchase a full size body wash or lotion.

Vanilla Romance features fragrance notes of “fresh cardamom, vanilla absolute, and captivating woods”. I can’t speak for the captivating woods and I swear B&BW just throws anything in their scent notes. The first two notes are usually right on the money and the third one is a kitchen sink addition and it never ceases to make me laugh! Also are they referencing vanilla absolute like the vodka or saying it’s absolutely vanilla? But I digress. Vanilla Romance is more spicy and musky than what I prefer, which is a true vanilla that’s soft and sweet. It’s not pungent enough to be overpowering but it’s definitely on the fence about it. If you are looking for a vanilla scent with some oomph, you might like Vanilla Romance. If you are a fan of pure vanilla, then this is not the scent for you or me!

Although this is not my favorite B&BW fragrance by a long shot, free is free and it gives me a chance to try something new sans commitment. Not mad about it!

Are you on the market for fall fragrances? How often do you restock your bath and body care? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Quelle Surprise!

Quelle Surprise!

Yoo hoo! As I am self employed, I rarely take a day off or even a half day. Hey, if I don’t work then I don’t get paid because what’s PTO amiright? However, sometimes time off is unavoidable and that was the case this past Monday. My client was feeling unwell so I left about two hours into my shift and decided to head to chez mom and dad’s. They were watching one of my sweet nieces and I wasn’t going to let the opportunity for a play date pass me by. It was a glorious day of seventy degree weather and I couldn’t wait to run around and stretch my legs. After our Columbus Zoo trip last Saturday, Johnny and I literally didn’t move on Sunday so I could have used the exercise lol.

I arrived at my parents’ house as soon as they did and my niece and I went absolutely crazy outside. Bubble crazy to be specific! My parents got my nieces this adorable bubble blower that looks like a French Bulldog and provides beaucoup bubbles with a pinwheel mechanism. We ran and danced through the bubbles for a solid half hour plus. Only pausing for water and juice breaks and adding more bubble soap to the blower! We declared ourselves the Bubble Queens but my littlest Bubble Queen was ready for some lunch.

I stuck around for her meal and some more play, then went on my merry way home. Johnny wasn’t due back for another two hours and I knew exactly how I was going to spend my time: Kicking back and watching America’s Next Top Model AKA my number one guilty pleasure. I couldn’t wait to get home and have some me time and was shocked when I reached our apartment. Johnny’s car was in the parking lot! I was worried he wasn’t feeling well either but that wasn’t the case at all.

When he opened the door, my main squeeze proudly told me he took a half day so he could clean the bunny hutch and surprise me. Quelle surprise! He was also just as surprised that I was home early too! The hutch looked phenomenal and the bunnies were happily romping about with their dad. It was the absolute sweetest and I am the luckiest lady in the whole world. Johnny is the best bunny dad and husband and after my homecoming we enjoyed the rest of our half day together. Johnny played video games while I tucked into the new Rachel Joyce novel and then spent the rest of the day watching our new favorite sitcom, Abbott Elementary. It was the perfect surprise day off followed by a perfect surprise at home! ❤

^^^ What a guy!!!!

Have you had any fun surprises recently? What does a perfect day off look like for you? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Columbus Zoo Highlights

Howdy! I so enjoyed my trip to the Columbus Zoo with Johnny and my brother and it really was an adventure. The Columbus Zoo is freaking gigantic and we were exhausted by the time it was time to head home. Even more so because we may or may not have forgotten where we parked the car and wandered around the parking lot for a solid twenty minutes. But that’s neither here nor there lol. Everything at this zoo was beautiful and you could easily spend an entire day there and then some. While there was a new sight to see everywhere you looked, I had two major highlights of our outing: The aquarium and feeding the lorikeets! Check it out:

We have an aquarium in Cleveland and it actively sucks. It is expensive to get into, is about three rooms in total, and you could get through the entire property in a half an hour. Although the aquarium at the Columbus Zoo wasn’t a full fledged one like you might find in bigger cities, it might as well have been! The only thing I had to compare it to was the Cleveland one and the Columbus Zoo was infinitely better in every way. It was glorious and so relaxing! The air conditioning, the sound of water, and sights so wonderful it looked like you were watching a screensaver on the computer.

When you enter into the aquarium, you will find a touch tank for the kiddos and a few exhibits leading up to the piece de resistance. As you venture further, you are greeted by the huge tank that runs the length of the sizeable space from floor to ceiling. It was spectacular! We found several species of sharks, fish, and coral in the exhibit and myself and crew were amazed. To see the sharks gliding about, schools of fish traveling together, and a few cheeky fish playing hide and go seek in the coral was like having a view straight into the ocean. The tank was so big that we were seeing brand new things each time we stepped a few feet. Had this been our local zoo and not one two hours plus away, I think we would have sat on the movie theater style seats to kick back and enjoy the splendor. We had a lot of zoo to get through, though!

After we managed to peel ourselves away from the undersea show, we stepped into the next section for manatees, stingrays, and sea turtles. Once again, it was ginourmous and complete with mangrove trees! We arrived at the perfect time because it was snack time and all of us had to laugh. The sea creatures were snacking on hearts of romaine just like our bunnies! It was so funny to see the manatees swimming while munching away at the leafy greens that they held in their flippers. In fact, countless animals at the zoo were having a romaine treat and we would love to know what the zoo’s leafy green budget is. WAY more than the seven bucks Johnny and I spend every week and a half. 😀

My second favorite highlight at the Columbus Zoo took place in the Australia portion where there was an aviary that housed lorikeets, which are small rainbow colored birds. You could walk through the aviary or you could purchase some nectar to feed them. Of course, I had to give it a go and am glad that we only purchased one cup of nectar. There was plenty to go around for my brother and Johnny to feed them too. All of the lorikeets were perched on branches and eagerly waiting for their next nectar fix. It was SO cool to give them their treat and once you were feeding one, all of the rest wanted in too. There was a point when I had three lorikeets to my tiny cup of nectar! I very much wanted to feed the giraffes but we didn’t have the time to do so. I am really happy we took the time to feed the lorikeets because it was such an awesome experience!

If you are ever in the area, I can’t recommend a trip to the Columbus Zoo enough. You will absolutely love it and I wish we could go back this weekend!

Does your local zoo have any animal feeding experiences? What is your favorite sea creature? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Why Do Live Performances Hit Different Than Streaming?

Why Do Live Performances Hit Different Than Streaming?

Live performances are among the most unique and exciting adventures you can have. No matter what you enjoy, from stage plays to rock concerts, no streaming channel can match what being there offers. From sensory engagement to unpredictability, here are some examples:

With the rise of streaming services, it’s easy to forget the unique experience of attending a show. What’s better, relaxing on the couch and pressing a button, or planning, booking with Broadway.com, and venturing out on a trip? The convenience of streaming has its benefits. But there is nothing like experiencing a live performance, even if you do it only once. Nothing compares to the overall adventure of seeing musical idols, stunning plays, and comedians right before your very eyes. And, of course, we can’t forget the amazing magicians who leave audiences wondering just how in the world they did that. Magic shows are a delight to the senses and can provide for a totally unique experience. If you are interested in seeing fantastic feats beyond slight of hand, simply enter a search for “Pigeon Forge Magic Show” (or your local area). An outing like this will be just as fun for children as it is for adults and will certainly be a show that you can’t stop talking about!

Just being in the same space as a performer you love creates a tangible experience that brings the senses to life. The sound, sights, and even smells of a packed auditorium are like nothing you can get at home. Adding to the excitement is the energy of the crowd, which makes a significant contribution to the experience. Through light, sound, and smell, your brain creates powerful memories connected to emotions that will typically last for the rest of your life.

In 2024 alone, Ticketmaster sold 637 million tickets. It’s safe to say live performances are alive and well, and whether you enjoy stage plays like Hamilton or want to rock out at an AC/DC concert, you can only get the connection you crave from a live show, and not a TV channel:

  • Performers will usually interact with the audience in a direct manner.
  • The experience feels more personal and conversational because of this.
  • Being among an excited crowd provides more energy and electrifies a performance.

While stage shows and artists might tour with a set of performances, every show is unique. There are many variables that can impact a show directly, making each experience different from the last. Improvisation, audience participation, and surprising moments can make a show memorable. Singers might begin to sing in a different key than usual, actors can bring an audience member on stage, and an unexpected event can cause the show to change to a once in a lifetime memory.

The vivid sensory experience of a live performance is unlike anything else. Because of this, the emotions attached to it while you are there become much more pronounced, and this forges solid memories. More than a studio production, a live show has the power to evoke an even deeper emotional response due to the unfiltered energy that a band, singer, or actor exudes over the crowd. What makes it even more special is that that moment will never happen again.

The adventure and experience are why live performances deliver something no streaming platform can. Go to a show and have the time of your life!

Columbus Zoo Babies

Columbus Zoo Babies

Howdy! This past weekend was a super great one because I went to the Columbus Zoo with Johnny and my big bro, Andrew. We decided to do an end of summer hurrah with a little road trip and had the most wonderful day exploring the gigantic and beautiful zoo. We also had the perfect weather for it – cloudy and barely eighty degrees. That’s what I’m talking about! We saw so many incredible things during our day trip but perhaps the most exciting was seeing all of the baby animals that have recently been born. A brand new baby elephant, gorilla, orangutan, and mandrill. Baby girl gorilla, Mara, was feeling shy and tucked away with her parents but we had excellent views of the other three! Check it out:

Baby girl elephant has yet to be named!
Baby Clementine!
Baby Link!

Miss Baby Elephant was born about a month ago and weighed in at two hundred and fifteen pounds. Since then, she has gained eighty and is getting bigger by the day! The elephants had a massive exhibit at the Columbus Zoo and a special area for viewing the new baby girl. My crew arrived at the viewing station at just the right time. She was laying down beneath her parents for a few minutes but then got to her feet! She walked a bit with her mom and dad, walked by herself for a while, and was getting used to moving her trunk around. It was SO amazing to see and I seriously could have watched this little big one all day. It was absolutely majestic and I cannot wait to find out her name after the zoo hosts a contest to select it. ❤

The buzz on the baby elephant was so strong that I had no idea we would be seeing other babies too. Three precious baby monkeys, to be exact. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a picture of baby gorilla, Mara, because she was safely tucked away in the shade with her parents. We did get fleeting glimpses of her, though, and oh baby was she a cutie! Miss Mara is a little over one year old and is still tiny as can be. We got to see her roll around and get comfortable away from all of the hubbub and I bet she was ready for a well earned nap after finding that sweet spot!

In the orangutan exhibit was darling little Clementine and I legit can’t get over how adorable her name is. Just thinking about it now has me distracted from cuteness overload! Clementine was born in late November of 2023 and was the first baby of her mom, Khali. Like our viewing of the baby elephant, we got to see Clementine right in the nick of time. She got out of her mom’s embrace for a few moments and explored the grass before Khali scooped her up and took her into the tree house. Had we arrived at the exhibit any later, we wouldn’t have got to see Clementine at all and I am SO happy we did. It was one of my favorite parts!

Finally, was a baby boy mandrill named Link. As avid Legend Of Zelda fans, we were all about that name! Link is a little over a year old and was so totes adorbs. He was having some solo time when we got to his exhibit and was digging about in the dirt, playing with sticks and leaves, and carefully examining tree bark. It was so neat because he was literally right in front of us and I was on pins and needles to see what he did next. After his play time, he sat down and I melted into a puddle when I saw his great big eyes. I think he is going to be a handful for his mom and dad in the best way possible. ❤

A day at the Columbus Zoo is a ball no matter what but these babies made it so much better. Stay tuned for more from this fabulous trip!

What is your favorite animal? Do you have a favorite zoo to go to? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Not to mention over SIX YEARS of publishing daily content. Holy wow, it really is quite an accomplishment and I am so very proud of it. ❤

lifewithlilred started out as a pleasure project when I first started college and honestly it wasn’t even my idea. At that point, I was regularly posting pictures of my outfits on Facebook and I was getting constant comments that I should start a blog. I had always loved writing and, of course, fashion and I decided to go for it. I am so glad I did because I could not imagine my life without my blog baby today. lifewithlilred has given me countless gifts that I am eternally grateful for. How To Feel More Confident In Your Skin

How To Feel More Confident In Your Skin

More often than not, most of us will feel insecure. It may not be intense insecurity, and it may not severely impact our daily lives, but we can feel it all the same. It might be not feeling that confident in our jobs or worrying about how we look when we’re out with friends. As much as it can be frustrating, it’s quite common. But that doesn’t mean that you have to accept it as normal and live that way forever. In fact, you can look to do something about it as soon as possible!

It’s easy to think that some people are confident and others aren’t, but that’s not strictly true. Confidence isn’t something you’re born with; it’s something that’s built. If you’d love to be able to feel more confident in your skin and say goodbye to your insecurities, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we’re going to take a look at the best ways for you to feel more confident in who you are:

First of all, you may want to change the way you talk to yourself. If you’re used to being tough on yourself and beating yourself up in the way you think and speak about yourself, it’s going to really lower your confidence. When you’re more positive, it can help you to feel a lot more confident and happier in yourself.

It can also help to look after yourself a little better. It’s easy to think that self-care is just pampering and caring too much about your appearance, but it’s far from that. It can be relaxing, helping your mental health, and boosting your mood as well as your confidence. You may find that starting a self-care routine drastically changes how you feel.

You should also be proactive about feeling good in yourself. Buying new bras, taking yourself for a walk, or even having a little solo date night could help you to feel recharged and boost your mood. Treat yourself to something nice, grab a coffee from your favorite cafe, or simply take a pause when you feel like you could use a pick me up. When you find what works to boost your mood, you can keep turning back to it as often as you need.

You can also look to what you wear for a lot more confidence. You may find that if you’re wearing things that don’t make you feel good, getting excited about what you wear can change everything. Take yourself out shopping or order some options online. Once you find some pieces you love, you may feel a lot more confident in your skin. When you dress with clothes that fit well and enhance your best features, you are going to love what you see when you look in the mirror.

Embrace yourself, your quirks, and what makes you you. Doing so will always make you feel so much happier and confident in who you are!

Fruit Salad OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Fruit Salad OOTD! This little look was worn to a beautiful summer wedding and it was the absolute best time. This is only the second wedding Johnny and I have attended in the six years that we have been together and all I can say is that I hope all of our other friends get married soon. If they want to, of course! Johnny and I truly come alive at a function and this wedding was so top tier. It was such a joy to be surrounded by all of our friends and so much love! I don’t have much love for these yikes shots, though! Check it out:

My niece came over for a slumber party recently and we always wrap up the festivities by watching a movie and eating ice cream. It’s the best! We usually watch something animated but this time around she wanted to watch the second Descendants movie and honestly it was awesome lol. If you aren’t hip to it, The Descendants series are Disney Channel movies and feature a cast made up of the children of Disney princesses and villains. It’s such a fun idea and I LIVED for Disney Channel movies in my youth so I was pretty stoked to see some fairly recent ones. Although nothing will ever beat Life Sized! 😀

Back in my day, High School Musical was the breakout Disney Channel movie and The Descendants sequel really matched those vibes: Cute couple, set in a school, and the catchiest songs ever. I have legit had music from The Descendants stuck in my head for the past week and change and I’m not even mad about it. If you have littles that love the Disney movies and are old enough to watch it, I cannot recommend this series enough. It’s seriously just as much fun for the adults as it is for the kids. Throughout The Descendants there were so many throw away lines that referenced the animated films and it was such a delightful Easter egg hunt! I’m not going to lie, I just might have to watch the other movies by myself because they really are darling and such a comforting, creative blast of nostalgia. ❤

Going back in time with all things Disney and Disney Channel movies makes this auntie so happy and there is nothing better than unleashing your inner child every once in a while!

What was your favorite Disney movie? How about Disney Channel movie? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Friendly Reminder!!

Friendly Reminder!!

Hello!! After leaving an incredibly shitty work experience in March, I most definitely needed a bit of me time. During that Lil Red mental health retreat, I threw my hands up, said “screw it” (It was actually an expletive!) , and made a TikTok. What makes me really happy is creating content and I decided I needed more of that in my life – even if I am not the biggest fan of making videos. However, after close to five months of posting daily content on TikTok, I finally get it lol. It’s a lot of fun and I love shooting OOTDs, hiking, exploring, cooking, and any and everything videos. All of you have been onto something for a phat minute and although I am literal years late to the party, it’s better late than never! 😀

At the end of May, I was almost at one hundred followers and you have no idea how happy that made me. Fast forward to the here and now and I have around twenty five hundred and you have no idea how happy that makes me! For a page that is still relatively new, it might as well be twenty five million to me and I feel proud of that because my TikTok really is just for funsies. I don’t expect brand deals and billions of views. All I wanted was to go back to making content for me, myself, and I… And anyone who feels like watching or reading it and that is the prize in itself.

While I was in the midst of the not ideal work sitch, I was barely keeping my head above water let alone making content that I felt excellent about. And, in turn, I felt far below excellent because content creating is truly one of my forms of self care. It gives me a safe space to wear whatever I want, experiment, and simply be me. Even if my blog or TikTok got no views, it would be fine because it is mine and mine alone and I made it and had a blast doing it. My mental health has improved tenfold and it feels so SO good to be back in my zone and feeling completely like myself!

If you feel so inclined, I would absolutely love it if you joined me on my TikTok. If not, that’s okay too! I’ll see you around the blogosphere! ❤

What is your favorite form of social media? What makes you feel like yourself? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Burn A Pancake, Not Your Focus

Standard
Burn A Pancake, Not Your Focus

Morning in your kitchen is a whole soundtrack: The kettle sighs, a timer nags, a voice asks where the left shoe went, and someone is definitely humming Baby Shark again. You’re flipping pancakes while triaging notifications and trying to remember who needed money for lunch today. It’s a lot. And when the soundscape gets crowded, focus is the first thing to burn:

You’re not “bad at mornings.” You’re managing a sensory pile-up. Competing sounds make it harder for your brain to sort what matters, like a quiet “Mom?” over a loud extractor fan. When your ears work too hard to catch the words, your brain borrows energy from focus. That’s how a simple recipe turns into guesswork, and why multitasking feels like walking through fog. Reduce the fog and you reclaim attention, without needing an extra hour or superhuman patience.

Here’s the sneaky truth: Aven a small drop in hearing clarity can feel like a big drop in attention. Your brain does overtime to fill gaps, predicting words, stitching context, reading lips, and that effort shows up as fatigue and distractability. You know that end-of-day “I can’t listen to one more thing” feeling? That’s cognitive load talking. When you make hearing easier, everything else gets lighter: You follow directions the first time, the joke lands, and the pan on medium actually stays on medium.

You don’t need to redesign your kitchen. Start with micro-wins:

  • Lower the loudest thing first (usually the extractor fan or TV) to lift voices out of the noise.
  • Use a visual timer for cooking so your brain isn’t babysitting beeps.
  • Create a “call corner” away from clatter; two steps to the hallway can turn chaos into clarity.
  • Ask for one-at-a-time talk during hot-pan moments. It’s not fussy; it’s safety.
  • Keep the same soundtrack for breakfast (a short playlist) so your brain isn’t decoding new noise every day.

Modern hearing solutions aren’t just about volume; they’re about control. Directional microphones help you lock onto the voice right in front of you. Rechargeable cases mean you stop hunting for tiny batteries during the school run. And many models now include bluetooth connectivity so you can take a quick call from school, hear a timer or podcast clearly, or switch to a “kitchen” program, without juggling your phone while you’re juggling hot pans.

You want features that match your actual life, not a spec sheet fantasy:

  • Comfort first. If it doesn’t feel good by school pickup, you won’t wear it. Ask for soft domes or custom earmolds if you’re sensitive.
  • Programs that fit your day. A “quiet conversation,” “noisy restaurant,” and “outdoors” set will cover 90% of parenting life. Bonus points for a “speech in noise” mode that you can tap on quickly.
  • Moisture resistance. Kitchen steam. Look for devices rated to handle humidity and sweat.
  • Easy controls. A physical button or simple app beats labyrinth menus when a pancake is mid-flip.
  • Trial the real world. Bring your phone to the fitting, test calls, stream a timer, and stand near a whirring kettle. If it works there, it’ll work anywhere.

Safety and calm are twins here. Keep alarms audible but not shrill. Put break-in points in your routine: “Flip, breathe, check” before the next step. If someone needs you mid-cook, ask them to touch your shoulder first, visual + tactile beats shouting from the hallway. And remember, kids copy what you model. When you show them how to create a quiet pocket for talking, they learn to do the same.

If your mornings feel louder than they should, get curious about hearing, not guilty. Book a hearing check, bring your daily chaos with you (figuratively), and describe the exact moments that feel hard: “I miss words over the kettle,” “I can’t hear the timer if the TV is on,” “I need to catch calls hands-free while cooking.” The right setup meets those moments on purpose.

Focus isn’t a personality trait; it’s an environment you can design. When you reduce noise, support your hearing, and choose tech that matches your life, you stop burning attention on the basics. Breakfast gets simpler. Voices get clearer. And your pancakes? Golden, not charred!
