October 2018 Finishes

October 2018 Finishes

Helloooo! With October drawing to a close quicker than anticipated, it’s time to discuss which beauty products I finished up this month. What was nice about this month’s empties is that half of them were totally free, which saved me at least twenty dollars. The Clean & Clear cleanser came from a Walgreen’s goodie bag, the Bath & Body Works body wash was free, and the body wash from The Body Shop was a gift. Sweet!

Would I Use Again?

  • Lubriderm lotion: YES
  • The Body Shop Satsuma body butter: YES
  • The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey shower cream: NO
  • Bath & Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar shower gel: YES
  • Clean & Clear Acne Triple Clear cleanser: MAYBE
  • ArganiCare moisturizer: YES!!

Why/Why Not?

Lubriderm Lotion: Good ol’ Lubriderm is my go to brand to use upon getting a new tattoo and, as I get new ones fairly frequently, I always keep a bottle of lotion handy. I’ve had this bottle for about six months, which is pretty good considering I use it multiple times a day for a handful of weeks when a new tattoo is healing. I will definitely continue using this lotion and, at six dollars a bottle, a dollar per month cost per use is something that I can totally get behind!

TBS Body Butter: This jumbo sized body butter is compliments of TJMaxx for ten bucks, which sure beats the in store price of thirty! Satsuma is easily one of my favorite scents from TBS and I would have hundreds of these body butters in my arsenal if I could. I got at least ten full body uses out of the jumbo sized butter and hope that I can find more at TJ’s to help with dry winter skin in the approaching months.

TBS Shower Cream: Although I love, love, love the Almond Milk & Honey scent from TBS, this shower cream was a major whomp whomp. It didn’t lather at all, making it really hard to feel clean while taking a shower. Because it didn’t lather, I tried to compensate by using more of it per use, which resulted in me finishing the bottle in three weeks. I would recommend a gel over a shower cream any day, because the gel from TBS lasts me at least five weeks, which is a money saver.

B&BW Shower Gel: On the opposite end of the body wash spectrum is the Warm Vanilla Sugar shower gel from Bath & Body Works. I had this travel sized bottle for over three weeks, which should tell you everything you need to know about the one from TBS. It lathered well, smelled amazing, and I would definitely use it again.

Clean & Clear Cleanser: It took me about three weeks to finish this mini cleanser and, if given the opportunity, I would use it again. But, with a normal skin type, acne is something that I don’t really worry about so I would prefer something that is designed for normal skin. However, this cleanser made my skin feel squeaky clean and that is always a plus!

ArganiCare Moisturizer: I LOVED this moisturizer and it was absolutely the MVP of this month’s finishes. I got my ArganiCare moisturizer from TJMaxx for six dollars and it lasted me for over a month and a half. A little bit of this product sure went a long way and, although a small amount was used, my skin was always left feeling supple and hydrated. I would love to use this moisturizer again and would definitely recommend it.

Overall, it was a really successful month for finishes and I would recommend almost all of the products discussed above. And when fifty percent of them were free, it makes this month’s empties even sweeter!

Have you used any of the products above? What were your thoughts on them? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath & Body Works October Freebie

Bath & Body Works October Freebie

Hi there! Just when I think that Bath & Body Works has finally caught onto my tricks of only coming in to cash in my freebie coupons, they send me another freebie coupon. Lol, it has been a while, but I stopped in earlier this week to pick up my free item, which happened to be really nice. Normally, they only offer a free travel sized shower gel or lotion but, this time, they offered a free hand cream with lots of scents to pick from. Check it out:

During past trips to B&BW, I have been less than impressed with their packaging. What used to be vibrant and sweet turned minimal and blah, so it was nice to see that they went back to their roots with the imagery on this cream bottle. Perfectly purse sized, this cream is amazing for the on the go gal, especially since cold weather and cracked hands is fast approaching. The scent is delicious, too! Fizzy champagne with the bite of tart apples makes for a delightful autumn scent and also makes me thirsty for a glass of bubbly ASAFP!

What is your favorite fall scent? Which store offers the best freebies? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

August 2018 Finishes

Hellooooo! Can you believe that another month of 2018 is already behind us?! Today, we will be talking about all of the beauty goodies that I finished up this past month. Would I Use Again?

  • Pearberry body spray by Bath & Body Works: YES
  • Satsuma shower gel by The Body Shop: YES
  • Charcoal Facial Detox cleanser by Destiny Boutique: YES
  • Travel sized lotions by Bath & Body Works: YES
  • Nutriganics eye cream by The Body Shop: YES

Why/Why Not?

Pearberry Body Spray: I LOVE this fragrance by Bath & Body Works and my only regret is that they only had one to buy when they brought it back for the Semi-Annual Sale. It has the sweetness of a crisp pear and the bite of freshly picked berries and it is just delicious. It took me over five months to finish this spray and I would happily by it in abundance next time it makes a come back.

TBS Shower Gel: There is nothing more invigorating than showering with The Body Shop’s Satsuma shower gel in the morning. The sweet/tart orange scent is divine and the gel lathers so well, it just envelops you in freshness. It took me a month and a half to finish this body wash.

Destiny Boutique Cleanser: I LOVE THIS CLEANSER!!! There are no better charcoal products than Destiny Boutique and I will continue using this brand until TJMaxx doesn’t sell it any more! Nothing banishes blackheads better and my skin always feels amazing after each use. It took me over five months to finish this cleanser and at ten dollars it gives a two dollar cost per month. Not bad at all!

B&BW Lotions: Although I wasn’t crazy about any of these scents, which included A Thousand Wishes, Hello Beautiful, and Japanese Cherry Blossom, I will gladly continue to cash in my B&BW freebies. I got about one and a half full body uses out of each travel sized container.

TBS Eye Cream: We all know that The Body Shop’s Nutriganics eye cream will always be my go to brand. No need to discuss it further! It took me six months to finish this product.

August was a very successful month of finishes and I was happy to use up some of the products that take me a long time to get through. I would use all of the above goodies again and I would definitely recommend them to all of you!

Have you used any of the products seen above? What are your thoughts on them? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath & Body Works July Freebie

Bath & Body Works July Freebie

Hello everyone and happy Hump Day! It’s no secret by now that 99% of the time that I go into Bath & Body Works is because I have a travel sized freebie coupon. That certainly rang true when I ran in last week to pick up this here mini shower gel! Take a look:

sugarrr

In my humble opinion, you can NEVER go wrong with vanilla scented anything. Candles, perfumes, lotions, and, of course, shower gels! I’ve been a bit underwhelmed with the freebie fragrances that I’ve been getting lately, so I decided to go for an old standby this time around with Warm Vanilla Sugar. It combines the decadence of vanilla that I love with the sweet warmth of brown sugar, making for a totally delicious scent during shower time!

What is one of your go to fragrances when it comes to bath and body care products? What is your least favorite scent? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

100+ Beauty Tag Part Three

100+ Beauty Tag Part Three

Hello everyone and happy Monday! We are on the final half of the 100+ Beauty Tag that I’ve been working diligently on. I have to tell you, it’s been a hoot and I definitely recommend joining in on the fun by completing it yourself! Here are my answers to questions sixty through ninety:

Define beauty in one sentence? Beauty is feeling confident in your own skin.

Share the funniest makeup memory of yours? Oh jeez… I don’t think that I really have a funny one. But, I used to work as an actor at a haunted house and doing my makeup there was always good fun.

Discounted products or branded? Which do you prefer? Discounted, of course. #ballinonabudget

Do you share your beauty products with anyone? If yes, then whom? HELL NO! My sister used to use my makeup when we were younger and I hated that!!

What’s your favorite nail polish brand? Before I started getting acrylics, I really liked Sally Hanson.

What kind of coverage do you like from a foundation? I don’t wear it, so it doesn’t matter.

A simple nail color or designing? Which do you like? I would love to get designs on my acrylics if it wasn’t so damn expensive. So, simple colors it is, and then I do the rhinestones myself.

What is your favorite high end brand? I like Clinique.

A new makeup purchase or a dinner out. Which do you prefer? Food, food, always food.

What’s your favorite contrast for nail polishes? What does that mean?

Name the person who taught you how to paint your nails: I’m pretty sure it was my grandma.

Do you wear fake eyelashes? No. I have no idea how to apply them, anyways!

Share the worst moment of wearing fake eyelashes? None.

Has anybody praised your eye color while you were wearing contact lenses? I don’t wear colored contacts, but people do praise my natural eye color *hair flip*.

What is your favorite drugstore brand? I like CoverGirl.

Suppose you’re on your way to a party and you realize that you forgot to put on blush. What could be your best possible alternative? Take some of your lipstick and rub it in to your cheeks.

Describe your perfect mascara in one sentence: My perfect mascara is jet black and gives longer than life lashes.

Have you ever put mascara in your eyes on accident? YES. It always gets on my contacts and I have to put in a new pair of my one a days. So annoying.

Do you like a lipstick only or do you use it with a lip gloss? Lipstick only. I’ve never been a big lip gloss girl.

A simple lip gloss or a glittered one? If I did wear lip gloss, a glitter one might be fun!

What is your favorite hair product? Heat protecting spray is a necessity for me, because I flat iron my hair almost every day.

Do you like using different nail polishes at once? I usually do all black except for an accent nail on my pointer finger.

Do you ever consider taking makeup classes? Not really. But, I always am up for trying new things!

Which brand’s lipstick stays on the best while eating? I kid you not, I just ate a full on Mexican dinner the other day and my NYX matte lippie didn’t even budge.

How many times do you use a face wash? I use both a cleansing bar and a face wash during my shower in the morning. I don’t wash my face at night, but I really should.

Which makeup remover do you prefer? Micellar water is okay and cheap.

Name three differences that you feel in yourself with or without makeup? I feel more confident and beautiful in makeup. But, I feel more comfortable without it.

Do you use makeup base for the eyes, as well? Nope.

Do you like to gift makeup kits to your female friends? Not really, I prefer gifting bath and body care because you really can’t go wrong with that.

Name a beauty product that you always want to steal from your mom’s kit? I love my mom’s nude lipsticks and I want to snag her Pixi Glow Tonic so bad!!

How would you answer some of the above questions? How is your Monday going? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

My Beauty Hoard

Standard
My Beauty Hoard

Hey! When it comes to most of my material pleasures in life, I am lucky enough to have a lot of them. A beautiful collection of shoes, clothing, and accessories help to turn me into the fashionista by day so that I can delve into my pajama collection at night. And, when it comes to beauty products, a collector I am, as well.

I have always been a firm believer in buying in bulk and having the products on hand when I need more, rather than running to the store every month to reup. I am also a firm believer in the power of coupons, freebies, and treasuring gifts from friends, which also helps add to my collection seen below:

hoard

Now, that may look like a lot of stuff – but what if I told you that about fifty percent of the above products were free? Check it out:

  • The three cleansers in the front: FREE
  • Every single mini lotion or shower gel: FREE
  • The three shower gels from The Body Shop: FREE
  • Two mini body butters: FREE
  • Charcoal mask from The Body Shop: FREE

Meanwhile, the other products were all bought on the cheap. For example:

  • The seven perfumes from Bath & Body Works were purchased for about twenty dollars all together.
  • The body butters and skin care were all bought at TJMaxx prices
  • And the remaining shower gels were all bought with coupons.

So, where did all of the free swag come from? The three cleansers and some of the mini lotions are compliments of Walgreen’s freebie bags that I received when purchasing my hair dye. I always wait to restock my boxed color until I get an email saying that Walgreen’s is running their freebie bag promotion with a certain amount of money purchased so that I can score some free goodies while buying a necessity.

All of the Bath & Body Works minis are thanks to the free travel sized coupons that I get from B&BW. Right now I have over sixty dollars worth of free product from there in my hoard and I always have them handy for gift giving occasions. And, the rest of my free products were gifts that I use frugally so that I don’t have to buy more of my favorites until I absolutely have to!

The rest of my hoard was all purchased with the help of coupons or the amazingly low prices of TJMaxx. Very rarely do I purchase anything at full price anymore – and why would I?! With the power of apps, reward programs, coupons, and sale promotions, it’s simple to save and create a collection of your own.

Who else has a beauty care hoard at home? How do you score the best freebies and deals? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath & Body Works May Freebie

Bath & Body Works May Freebie

Hi! So Bath & Body Works finally sent me a freebie coupon after months of not receiving anything, so I was excited to run into the store and grab a travel sized lotion or shower gel. I was in a rush when I was in the store, and their new packaging definitely didn’t help, because I couldn’t tell what the idea was for any of their scents. Take a look and you’ll see what I mean:

gel

I really did like B&BW’s old packaging, because it let you know what the product would smell like without having to flip the lid. Now, you can’t tell what their scent would be like from anything and, frankly, I think the packaging looks cheap. I selected a new scent of theirs called Happy Vibes and it smelled okay. It’s a floral/citrus scent and the only reason why I selected it was because I was in a hurry. The flowers in this gel definitely overpowered any notes of citrus that you could smell, so I am not a huge fun. But, hey, it was free! 😀

How do you feel about B&BW’s new packaging? What is your favorite shower gel fragrance? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
