Elf Palette Faves #1

Elf Palette Faves #1

Hiiii everyone and TGIF! Okay, so this Wednesday I introduced you guys to my New(ish) Elf Nude Rose Gold Palette and I wanted to share a few of my fan favorites with all of you. Unfortunately, I don’t know the names of any of these colors SO I’LL MAKE THEM UP MYSELF. Ayyy! Let me introduce you all to SPARKLING EGGPLANT lololol:

elf1elf2

Sparkling Eggplant is the last color on the right in my palette. This is my favorite color out of the ten. I love the purple-y, mauve color and the fact that this shade has some glitter thrown in for good measure makes me like it even more. I prefer to wear Sparkling Eggplant (It never gets old!) as an eyeliner and I wet my brush to give it the appearance of the second heart seen above.

My eyes are hazel and frequently change colors from brown to green or gold depending on the lighting and what makeup I’m using. The purple hue of this eyeshadow brings about green eyes, which I love. To complete this look, I like to use one of the shell pink colors in the corner of my eyes with one of the browns or mauves in the palette across the lid. I then blend these together for a purple haze, smokey look – which sounds a lot better than my makeup skills allot for!

So there you have it, the first of my Elf Palette Faves! How do you use makeup to play up your eye color? How would you name this color from my palette? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hump Day Jams

Hump Day Jams

Helloooo everyone and happy Hump Day! We’re halfway through the week and so close to the glorious weekend so it only seems appropriate to provide some jams to get us stoked for dumb old Thursday and Friday! As you guys know, I’ve been trying to update my iTunes after quite a few years of neglect and I am having such a blast rocking out to some new and old favorites. Here’s what I’ve been listening to as of late and bear in mind that I have no rights to these songs or videos!

Lol, obvs it’s a pretty random compilation that I’ve been playing but when isn’t it?! I’ve been in love with finding songs that I can literally play on repeat and enjoy myself as much the tenth time listening to it as I do the first. All of these songs do that for me, particularly Left Alone by Flume & Chet Faker, which I have no problem playing on repeat while I’m getting ready for the day in the morning EVERY MORNING. If you listen to one of these suggested songs by yours truly, make sure it’s that one!

So there you have it, my Hump Day Jams! What are your current music favorites? What are some of your play on repeat for the rest of eternity jams? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

U2 Concert Excitement!!

U2 Concert Excitement!!

Hey everyone and happy weekend!! I am starting the month of July off with a bang because I get to see one of my favorite bands live for the SECOND time – U2!! It’s a very exciting time to be a Lil Red because not even two weeks ago, I got to see my other favorite band in concert, AFI. I have loved U2 ever since I was a kid (so a real Lil Lil Red!). Having two parents that simply live for them instilled a deep love for U2 in me from a young age.

Lyrics from “Beautiful Day” was the first thing that I got tattooed on me the day that I turned eighteen and it will always remain one of my favorite songs until the day I die. I was lucky enough to see U2 in Pittsburgh a couple of years back for their 360 tour and I had the time of my life. Best believe I ugly cried the whole time. Anyways, when my family heard that a 30th anniversary tour for The Joshua Tree was happening, it wasn’t so much as a need than a must to see them again – especially since they’ll be in Cleveland!

OneRepublic will be the opener, and although I’m not their biggest fan, they are sure to put on a fun show. But to see songs from U2’s iconic album live and in the flesh will definitely make tonight one to remember! I’M SO EXCITED!!!!!! Definitely check back for my concert review and think of me if you happen to listen to U2 today. What concerts are you attending this summer? Who else is a major U2 fan? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Movie Maven: A Lil Red Guide To Film Festival Etiquette

Movie Maven: A Lil Red Guide To Film Festival Etiquette

Hello everyone and happy Hump Day! Summer brings about a variety of activities that some people spend the whole year looking forward to. Vacations, concerts, baseball games, and film festivals. I am sure that most of you already know that I am an avid movie lover. Of course, my favorite genre is horror by far but I love it all. Psychological thrillers, foreign films, comedies, rom-coms, the occasional Western, action, documentaries – you name it. The world of film is an all inclusive, creative, free for all with something for everyone, which is what makes it so beautiful.

Asking me about my favorite films always results in a five minute babble of my “I could watch this every day and not get bored” flicks. Every movie that you watch has the potential to become your new favorite and that’s what makes going out to the cinema, renting from the RedBox, and attending film festivals so exciting. You are twenty minutes in previews away with entering a new world for an hour or two. And even if the flick was the worst thing ever, you still got to eat popcorn and candy for the duration of the film. It’s a win/win for everyone.

A night at the movies is fun – but could you imagine a day at a film festival? A day devoted entirely to the up and coming films for the year? Talk about heaven! And another cool part about attending a film festival? The traveling! July 19th through the 22nd is the Anthem Film Festival in Las Vegas. And the movies that are seen in Vegas are sure to not stay there for long! Be sure to check out Vegas.com for the best hotel and flight packages for your stay and then let’s talk some film festival pro tips:

Be A Social Butterfly!

You already have one thing in common with literally every single person at the festival – a love for film. This sounds like the perfect icebreaker to me! Chat it up with anyone and everyone after the credits have rolled because you never know who you’re going to meet. From directors and actors to behind the scenes workers and industry professionals, a film festival is the best place to network if you are interested in any aspect of the vast world of cinema. Get your business cards ready and spread your wings, you beautiful and capable butterfly.

Dress To Impress:

You know how I said that you never know who you’re going to meet at a film festival? If not, let me repeat it: YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU’RE GOING TO MEET AT A FILM FESTIVAL!!! Dressing to impress is absolutely crucial for this reason. During the day, you can get away with a comfy cool look – an oversized button down, skinny jeans, and ankle booties are a great start. And don’t forget to bring a cardi for those chilly showing rooms!

The evening is a different story, though. Let your night time look transform you just as if you were walking the red carpet at a major premiere (Okay, maybe not that extreme, but you get the point!). Wear your best LBD and a killer pair of heels and then top it off with a bold red lip and a bejeweled clutch. And remember, it’s all about confidence and class with a heaping helping of personality when you’re strutting your stuff in your evening attire, honey.

Take Notes:

Having a notepad and a pen on you is a must. Keeping track of the films that you saw during your whirlwind of a day is vastly important when it comes to networking and the post film Q & A sessions. Write down your likes and dislikes, questions that you had throughout the screening, and important themes that you picked up on during the movie. All of your thoughts will make excellent conversation starters at the refreshment stand or while hanging around for the next film to start. Not only that, but surely you will want to remember such an exciting day, anyways, and jotting down notes throughout your experience is a great way to keep your memories fresh.

Tearjerker Tissues:

Alright, let’s get one thing straight: Literally no one wants to hear you with the sniffles after ugly crying when the handsome lead bites the dust, Linda. Do us all a favor and bring a travel tissue packet. THANKS!! (This goes for everyone – not just Linda!!)

A Good Attitude:

Are you going to love every film that you see? No. But raving negativity after the film ends is certainly frowned upon in such an esteemed setting. Differing opinions are fine, but voice your love or distaste appropriately. The movie that you hated could be the favorite film of the person sitting beside you. An appreciation for film in general and the time, money, and talent that’s involved in that world goes a long way during your chats in line at the ladies, the refreshment booth, or the post film Q & A. Remember that you’re in a professional environment and showing respect is always going to be a do as you go about your day at the festival.
If you’ve never attended a film festival before, the Anthem Film Festival in Las Vegas is a great place to start! What are your film festival do’s and don’ts? What are a few of your favorite flicks? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Tattoo Update!!

Hi everyone and happy Monday! So on Saturday I got my new tattoo, which you can see the inspiration for in this post. It went swimmingly BUT there is still some work to be done on it – a few add ons and touch ups because some of it was done in white. SO I won’t be posting a picture of the finished product until next week when it is officially “all done”. Rest assured that I am absolutely in love with my Little Prince themed ink so far and I can’t wait for all of you to see it soon!

Until I post pictures of my new tattoo baby, enjoy this picture of me talking on my good ol’ trap phone, instead!

^^^ AYYY!

(And if you use your powers of observation, you’ll notice my Little Prince shirt underneath my favorite moto jacket!)

How was everyone’s weekend? Who else has gotten some new body mods done recently? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Friday Q & A

Hi everyone and TGIF!! I have seen so many fun Q & A posts lately and I WANT IN! It’s Friday, which usually means having some fun at one point or another and I thought there’s no better place to do that than on my little ol’ blog. Not only do I think that Q & A’s are an enjoyable past time, but they are also a great way to get to know each other better so LET’S DO THIS:

Lil Red’s Q & A:

Age? I am 22 and am going to be 23 on June 7th. I am SO not excited. -_-

Favorite food? I’m all about that Taco Bell, darling. And as a vegetarian, I always get the most confused looks when I say that but you can get beans on everything there instead of meat! #protip

Last thing watched on Netflix? A movie called We Need To Talk About Kevin, which I’ve seen like a million times but I still love.

Current series I’m watching? I am keeping up with both the new seasons of Fargo and Wentworth at the moment. I would consider both of them two of my favorite shows. And I’m super looking forward to the new season of Orange Is The New Black!

Favorite candy? Anything sour.

Favorite ice cream flavor? Mint chocolate chip but only the green kind!!!!

Favorite store to shop at? TJMaxx is my number one favorite, but I also love Target, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, and H&M.

Last movie seen in theaters? I saw Beauty & The Beast with my mom and sister for my mom’s birthday and I freaking loved it.

Last YouTube video watched? One of my ex boyfriends showed me this and it’s the first thing that I think of when I think of questions, lol.

Last song listened to? Basically an ode to my talons.

Last book read? I just finished rereading the Sandman graphic novel series by my author crush, Neil Gaiman. ❤

Alcohol of choice? MOSCATO, lol so girly.

Beverage of choice? I am a Diet Coke fiend and yes, I know it’s super bad for me!!

Weekend plans? I make it up as I go along!

So there you have it, a little Friday Q & A here on lifewithlilred! How would you answer some of my questions? What are some of your questions for me? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Gift Ideas For The Sports Lover In Your Life

Gift Ideas For The Sports Lover In Your Life

Ahh, we all have a sports mad man or woman in our lives. But as much as we cherish their impact on us, they can often be the hardest person to buy a present for. You know that celebrating their passion is the perfect foundation for finding a great gift. Unfortunately, narrowing it down from there can feel like a minefield. So how can you give yourself a sporting chance of finding the ideal solution? Try these ideas on for size:

Enhance Their Playing Experience: There’s no doubt that playing at least one sport offers huge benefits to our lives. Your sport-loving friend or relative appreciates this more than most and is always seen with a bat or ball in their hand. So why not embrace their activities by increasing their fun? This could mean buying a new pair of shoes, football, or virtually any accessory. Even if it’s a fitness watch to help them record data regarding their activities, those additions will brighten their time on the field. From their perspective, that’s the greatest gift ever.

Celebrate Their Love Of A Team: As well as playing sports, your gift receiver is probably a fanatical supporter of their favorite team. Buying tickets to a game or a stadium tour is a great way to provide an unforgettable experience. Moreover, you can use this as an opportunity to show an interest in their passion by attending the event also. Let’s face it; you’ll probably enjoy it, too, even if it’s just from seeing the happiness of your giftee.

Woooo!

Make Memories With Memorabilia: It’s hard to explain the strength of the emotions gained from sports to an outsider, but let’s just say it’s massive. This is often a love that follows us throughout our lives and that’s why we idolize those on field heroes. From the gift giver’s perspective, this is the ideal opportunity to shine. Signed memorabilia from their favorite star, such as from Domonique Rodgers NC State, is something that they’ll cherish forever. Or you could use a personalized bobblehead to immortalize the receiver as a sports star. Either way, those products are a guaranteed way to brighten up the home for many years to come.

Think About The Home Arena: Does the sports enthusiast in your life constantly watch ESPN? If the answer is yes, create an even greater viewing experience and the presence of your gift will be felt every single day. The possibilities will be dictated by where they watch it. However, the additions could include a projector, new seating, or a beer fridge. Whatever option you go for, a better place to entertain friends when watching the game will not go unappreciated.

^^^ Excellent idea

Subscriptions: Your sports-loving friend or relative wants to feel closer to the action. Whether it’s a magazine subscription, an online streaming service, or points for their video games doesn’t matter. Buying a present that strengthens the relationship with their favorite sport can only be positive. Best of all, many of those presents are recurring monthly ideas. The recipient gets a regular reminder of the gesture while your payment for the gift will be staggered across an extended period. Even if you don’t particularly like sports yourself, that surely makes you a gift giving champion.

The world of sports is a vast one but once your gift giving ideas are narrowed down, the end result will always be a touchdown!

Haunted House Help!

Haunted House Help!

Hi everyone and happy Thursday! So a little known fact to my readers because I don’t think that I ever shared this on my blog before is that my very first job was as an actor at a haunted house. I worked at the Carnival of Horrors at Blossom Music Center in Ohio for two years in a row and I have to say…it was an experience! I did all of my own makeup, drank an abundance of coffee, and stayed up past one o’clock in the morning Friday through Sunday scaring the general public. At the time, my fifteen and sixteen year old self thought that this was the coolest thing ever and I still feel that way now.

I love all things horror – the films, the serial killer documentaries, the literature, I just can’t get enough. My favorite thing is when my boyfriend and I have our movie Mondays where we just watch scary movies and eat Taco Bell the entire day. I have seen more horror films than I can count but my all time favorite will always be the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. One of the other movies in my top five is the wonderful French horror film, Ils, which the American “The Strangers” is based off of. I am an amateur French speaker so their horror films are some of my favorites to watch because compared to comedies and dramas, the dialogue in horror movies is much easier for me to understand.

But I digress. The real reason behind this post besides for giving you guys a little insight into my love for the macabre is that I NEED TO GO TO A HAUNTED HOUSE!! I have not been to one in a couple of years and with Halloween just around the corner there is no better time than the present. I have three in mind that I scouted out and because I can’t make decisions to save my life and my sister is no better than me, I am passing the burden on to all of you. 🙂

The Choices:

I am definitely leaning more towards the Factory Of Terror or 7 Floors of Hell but Hauntville was thrown in as the wild card!

I am in desperate need of some Haunted House Help and I would love to know which one looks the best in your opinion. What is the best haunted house in your area? What is your favorite Halloween time scary movie? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath & Body Works October Freebies

Bath & Body Works October Freebies

Hellooo everyone and TGIF! While I was in Asheville, North Carolina this week, I just had to take advantage of doing some shopping. I had three freebie coupons from Bath & Body Works burning a hole in my pocket and was eager to cash them in. I was also pretty happy to be able to walk into a new B&BW and not get judged too hard for just grabbing the free items and leaving! I’m pretty sure the B&BW that I frequent is super over me by now! I stocked up on three of their fall fragrances and now I’m here to rank them according to which ones I liked best. Take a look:

bbw.jpeg

  1. Champagne Apple & Honey: If you guys are familiar with my blog, it should come as no surprise that this scent was my favorite! As you know, I am obsessed with apple fragrances and this one is just divine! Bubbly and sweet champagne mixed with a tart, crisp apple and just the smallest splash of honey. This scent combines all of the bite of an apple plucked fresh from the orchard with the girly and fresh scent of sparkling champagne. Cheers!
  2. Golden Pear & Brown Sugar: This scent was nice! I was a bit worried that it would be too sweet of a scent which I don’t care for at all but I was pleasantly mistaken. The soft crunch of a juicy pear blended beautifully with the semi sweet scent of brown sugar. I liked how light this fragrance was because it’s easy for anything with “sugar” in the title to be too sweet to the point that it’s overpowering.
  3. Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte: Speaking of too sweet – this scent just didn’t do it for me. The marshmallow scent in this lotion is actually more like vanilla, which is something that I usually love. Unfortunately, the not so subtle sweetness of the vanilla created something that just smelled off when combined with the frothy pumpkin latte. Had this scent incorporated a bit more PSL style spiciness into it, I think it could have been salvaged but this one is definitely not for me!

Overall, I was really pleased with all of the fall Bath & Body Works fragrances. Despite not caring for the Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte scent, it will make a great add on gift for Christmas presents! And for those of you who live for the B&BW holiday scents, you better hit the mall pronto because they are already available in stores and online!

So there you have it, my Bath & Body Works October Freebies! Has anyone done some bath and body care shopping recently? What did you get? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Fifteen Reasons To Look Forward To Fall

Fifteen Reasons To Look Forward To Fall

Hi everyone and happy weekend! Welcome to my darling friend, Gintare’s, humorous take on why everyone should be looking forward to fall. This post is a hoot so I am sure you are all going to love it! Please be sure to check out Gintare’s blog, as well, for more fabulous posts! Enjoy:

Fifteen Reasons To Look Forward To Fall:

  1. You can overdose on cinnamon and pumpkin anything and nobody will dare to judge you.

g1.gif

2. If you’re particularly bad at making yourself presentable, you can always tell people who stare that you’re testing some new looks for Halloween.

g2.gif

3. Same goes for if the 24-7 rain messed up your mascara, too.

g3.gif

4. You can skip make up entirely because nobody will see anything or anyone beyond the inside of their umbrellas.

g4.gif

5. You’ll get your cardio whilst jumping around avoiding puddles and slippery leaves on the pavement.

g5.gif

6. As the days get shorter the social pressure of going out and doing things will subside and you can release your inner introvert again!

g6.gif

7. Mid-week movie nights will be more common, too, as it will be miserable outside so why wouldn’t you escape to an imaginary world instead?

g7.gif

8. Speaking of, there will suddenly be so much time to read all those books you wanted to read since last fall!

g8.gif

9. If all else fails to entertain you, you can always just brew yourself some warm tea, cozy up in an over-sized sweater, and look through the window at the people miserably running from the cold rain because they forgot their umbrella. (Admit it, you enjoy it a little bit.)

g9.gif

10. Suddenly it’s a full year until you have to worry about how you look in a bikini. You know what that means!

g10.gif

11. For one glorious week, if you’re lucky even longer, the look of trees will be awesome enough to inspire you to write something awesome. Or so you’ll think.

g11.gif

12. Summer stuff will go on sale. This is when you buy something that’s a bit too small and aim to fit into it during the next summer. (Then you conveniently misplace it somewhere “whoopsie daisies”.)

g12.gif

13. There will be some amazing TV shows hitting the Internets!

g13.gif

14. Um…back to school stationery haul? Yas. I don’t even care that I’ve graduated from both school and uni already, no one can stop me!

g14.gif

15. Cozy socks and we’re closer to Christmas. ‘Nuff said.

g15.gif

Autumn is going to be great.

Let’s connect! Follow me on Instagram, Bloglovin, & now also on Twitter @SatOnWed – because the full name didn’t fit, haha. 9 times out of 10 I will jump into following you back, unless you’re that 1 out of 10 robot account *squints suspiciously*.

Saturday on wednesday

^^^ Love it! Thank you so much again to Gintare for giving us her countdown of reasons to look forward to fall! Once again, please check out her page and show her some love!
