September 2023 Finishes

Hellooooo darlings! September is drawing to a close and that means it’s time to discuss my beauty finishes for the month. August empties left me less than impressed and this month was only slightly better. As always, it’s no harm no foul because trying new products is fun and I like to let my readers know which ones aren’t worth their money. Not everything can be a winner, amiright?! Let’s take a look at my September Finishes and chat some more about the oh yeahs and the oh nos:

image_50391809(1)image_50460673(9)

^^^ Totally forgot to add the Bath & Body Works lotion to my empties shot lol WHOOPS

Would I Use Again:

Evoluderm Micellar Water: YES

Purifect Bright Vibes Only Serum: NO

Hope Soap Vanilla & Fig Body Nectar: MAYBE

goodhabit Rescue Me Water Jelly Dew Cream: YES!!

Bath & Body Works Everlasting Magic Body Cream: YES

Why/Why Not?

Purifect Serum: I was SO excited to try the Bright Vibes Only Vitamin C Serum by Purifect. The packaging was adorable, first and foremost, and I love the bonus boost of radiance from Vitamin C products. Sadly, this one massively missed the mark. This serum was really thin in texture and it almost felt like I was splashing water onto my face when I was applying it. The bottle was quite small and a lot of serum was needed to fully cover my face and neck. Within three weeks, the bottle was empty and I never noticed any positive changes in my skin’s appearance. Even if I did, I wouldn’t buy it again because it simply wasn’t a long lasting product and a poor value for my money.

Hope Soap Lotion: I received this product as a gift and it is from a local boutique in my neck of the woods. While I always support shopping local, I am less than impressed with the Body Nectar by Hope Soap. The Vanilla & Fig scent is delightful and I love the whipped texture of the lotion. However, I never felt like my skin benefited from using it. It just didn’t seem as effective as a lotion from Bath & Body Works, for example, and I wouldn’t use it again unless it were gifted to me. A+ in scent and texture, F in effectiveness.

goodhabit Moisturizer: Now, this is a product that I LOVED. You can read more about it in the review linked above. What I will say, is that this is one of the best moisturizers that I have ever used. Yes, the Smurf blue color is slightly off putting lol, but that doesn’t take away from the excellence of this moisturizer. It was long lasting, my skin felt baby soft after each use, and I would be ecstatic if I found it again at TJMaxx – I would buy every single one available!

B&BW Body Cream: I am a huge fan of the body creams by Bath & Body Works and the Everlasting Magic scent was an absolute delight. To me, it smelled like rich plum, ripe blackberries, and the softest notes of floral. I loved being able to use it every night and it makes it even better that it was completely free! I am very impressed by the effectiveness of the B&BW body creams and my skin felt hydrated and nourished throughout the entire day from it. Highly recommend!

There were some winners and some big losers in my September Finishes and that’s A-okay. In fact, I’m thrilled to even be writing this post because October is right around the corner and that means Halloween!! Bring on the spookiest month of the year, baby! 😀

Which products did you use up this month? What are your thoughts on any of the above if you have used them before? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Busy Person’s Guide To Fitness

A Busy Person’s Guide To Fitness

Are you always on the go, finding it hard to sneak in a workout session? Do you feel like there are not enough hours in a day? If you answered yes to both, then you’re not alone. With busy schedules and endless responsibilities, prioritizing fitness can become tedious. However, staying active and healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are a few simple fitness tips for the time-constrained individual:

Plan ahead:

The key to staying on top of your fitness routine while having a busy day is to plan ahead. Schedule a workout session into your daily schedule so you allocate a specific time slot to exercise. Knowing what workouts you need to do and when can help you stay focused and hold yourself accountable. You can also keep track of your progress by writing a fitness journal outlining the workouts you have done and what goals you would like to achieve.

Optimize time:

If you’re limited on time or can’t get to the gym, optimize your schedule to fit in some sweat time. You can combine your workout with tasks or activities you’re already doing. For instance, do some lunges or squats while brushing your teeth. Try using public transportation or bike to work instead of driving. You can also opt for an active lifestyle, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.

Incorporate HIIT:

High-Intensity Intervals Training (HIIT) is an exercise that combines short, intense periods of activity with less intense rest periods. HIIT workouts are perfect for busy people because they are quick, efficient, and can be done anywhere. You can choose from HIIT workouts like burpees, jumping jacks, and sprints.

Make it a group activity:

Working out in a group can be motivating and enjoyable. It’s also an opportunity to multitask while spending time with friends or family. Schedule cohesive workout sessions with your buddies or family members and test out different classes until you find one you love. This could be a danceathon Zumba session, yoga, pilates, or even boxing! You can also join a boot camp or group fitness classes at the gym.

Eat well:

Getting fit isn’t just about exercise; it’s also essential to eat well. Eating nutrient-rich foods and taking supplements such as those produced by STEEL can help you to feel energized and improve your overall health. Some of the foods you should include in your diet are:

Whole grains:

Whole grains such as whole wheat, oats, and quinoa are packed with fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They provide energy to power your day-to-day activities.

Lean proteins:

Lean proteins like chicken breasts, eggs, and legumes are an excellent source of protein that helps build muscle strength. Protein also keeps you full for a more extended period of time.

Fruits and vegetables:

Fruits and vegetables are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Eating them regularly helps keep your body fueled throughout the day while improving overall health.

Healthy fats:

Healthy fats such as avocados, nuts, and olive oil provide essential nutrients to your diet. It’s important to include healthy fat sources in your meals for optimal health.

You should also avoid foods high in saturated fat, sugar, and sodium. These foods can slow you down and interfere with your fitness goals.

Employ the help of professionals:

Sometimes, it can be daunting to create an effective fitness plan all by yourself. If you don’t have the time or knowledge, consider employing the help of professionals who can put you on a weight loss program that works for you. An option that might be recommended is the fat mobilization system, which is a clinically proven weight loss program that is designed to help you reach your health and fitness goals. This program effectively minimizes excess fat by utilizing the process of thermogenesis. By naturally stimulating the body to generate heat energy, it facilitates the burning of calories. With a program tailored to your fitness goals, you can be sure that you are in good hands.

Remember, fitness isn’t a destination but a way of life. Embrace the journey and enjoy every step towards a healthier, fitter you. With these tips, you can surely make fitness a part of your lifestyle, no matter how busy you are. Keep going, stay motivated, and never give up on your fitness goals!

About Our Bunnies

About Our Bunnies

Hello!!! On November first, it will be one whole year since Johnny and I welcomed our sweet bunnies, Melvin and Penelope, home. We adopted Mel and P from a friend who adopted Penelope from some type of fair I think? Little did she know, Penelope was pregnant and had eight (Yes, eight!) babies. When Johnny and I decided that we were committed to adopting bunnies, I scoured humane societies and posted on Facebook for any leads. My post was answered by the new bunny parent of nine and we took our babies home two weeks later!

It was and still is so exciting to have pets in our apartment. Melvin and Penelope are our little buddies and we are just as obsessed with them now as the day we brought them home. It is such a blast to watch our two gremlins romp around our bunny proofed area, play with their beloved Chewy boxes, and get into mischief. Mel and P’s favorite activities include snack time, chewing literally everything, and getting all of the cuddles from their mom and dad. Although, cuddling definitely wasn’t on their agenda when we first got them… It took a while for them to get warmed up to being held, but now they are always on the couch with us when we watch TV! 🙂

Our almost first year of being bunny parents felt like a lot of trial and error. It took both Mel and P a while to get about 95% litter trained, for starters. The first few months involved a lot of cleaning up accidents and rearranging their litter boxes to find a solution that worked. We had to figure out the best ways to clean their hutch, the best places to shop for their leafy greens, as well as finding supplies that they liked and getting them acclimated to our touch. This process took a while, but we never gave up and it feels like we have had them for so much longer than a year.

Melvin and Penelope are completely different bunnies from when we first brought them home. Pen was SO shy and was not interested in exploring her new digs whatsoever. Melvin, on the other hand, was quite skittish and would rather run away than be near us. Now that they know who mom and dad are and are so used to us, we finally see their real personalities. Pen is sweet as can be and loves to be held – the way to her heart was lots of yummy treats! Mel is our little adventurer and tolerates being held for a while, then he scampers off to play, play, play. He loves toys and thinks it’s hilarious to dump his food dish all over the hutch as soon as I refill it! Their personalities compliment each other so well and I am thrilled that they are comfortable enough with us to show it off. ❤

Since Johnny and I did not have a birthaversary bash this year, we are hoping to combine it into a party for Mel and Pen’s Gotcha Day. Our bunny babies are so loved and in my perfect world, we would have an apartment full of them!

What is your pet’s personality like? When it your pet’s Gotcha Day? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Whatever The Weather OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Whatever The Weather OOTD! This past year, I have made it my goal to do weekly OOTDs and minus a few misses, I feel like I have been achieving it. I trudged through summer looks even though it’s not my favorite season to style for and now it is officially fall – AKA the best season for fashion ever. Although the weather doesn’t feel fully fall yet, I welcome a crisp morning any day of the week and have been creating outfits for fluctuating temperatures. Whatever The Weather, however, some pictures definitely don’t make the cut… Until they have their day in the sun during the blooper reel! Let’s check it out:

Johnny and I had quite the adventure around TimberTop finding a place to take these stunning pictures. We went to the location seen here first and was greeted by a HUGE pile of dog crap because no one in TTop cleans up after their dogs and it’s so foul. So, we began to walk and ended up on a charming path that we didn’t even know existed. It was a wooded area and offered a view of the charming, dirty creek that runs through the apartment community, appropriately named Mud Creek lol. You can’t make this stuff up!!

This location was much more like it, but the lighting sucked butt so we continued on our quest for another OOTD spot. Then, we found a clearing that I thought might work, but it was a Red Herring. You guessed it – the lighting sucked butt there too! On the bright side, we did meet an adorable puppy named Kody – short for Kodiak – short for Kodiak The Maniac according to his owners. This was a huge plus, but we were still struggling to find a good spot to shoot at.

Finally, we went back the way we came and when we exited the woods it was a total “let there be light” moment. There was perfect lighting shining down on the super cool stone base of one of the apartment buildings. I think it looks so neat! We were derailed by dog poop, poor lighting, and a cute pup (which was a most welcome reprieve!) but we ended our trek victorious. The things I do for this blog! 😀

Whatever The Weather during the fall is thankfully always pretty good for a walk and did we ever for this shoot. Johnny was SO ready to go inside afterwards and so was I!!

What are some of the names of bodies of water in your area? Do any of them top MUD CREEK?! I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

How To Boost Your Kids’ Confidence

How To Boost Your Kids’ Confidence

During the pandemic years, it was tough for little ones to learn social skills without being around other children their age. As we’ve moved past the COVID times and into the open world again, some of our kiddos might be shy and need a little confidence when starting school or engaging with other kids. This article will share some advice on how to boost your kids’ confidence:

Enroll Them In A Literacy Program:

Literacy programs can help kids improve their written and verbal communication and engage with other kids around them. Foundations like Scottish Rite have speech-language and literacy programs in California. The foundation provides fully-funded courses to help children overcome speech or language obstacles and become confident individuals who enjoy engaging with written and spoken language.

Should your child have issues that need to be tackled by a speech therapist, that’s okay! The sooner you can get them in for an appointment and maintain them, the better. To get started, simply enter a search for “Speech Therapy Hamilton” (or your local area). Speech therapy can help your child speak confidently and can increase their socialization drastically as they improve.

Teach Them Responsibility:

Giving kids a taste of manageable independence can help them become more resilient and able to complete tasks independently. Teaching your kids how to look after a garden can teach them a lot about responsibility, patience, and allow them to see their work rewarded as plants grow and flourish. You could also give them a small item of responsibility if they are younger, like selecting an activity for the weekend.

Set An Example:

Your children learn from you and how you interact with the world around you. Try to set a good example by being positive and engaging with other parents in a group setting. Let them see you try something new and enjoy the experience. Help them to persevere by ensuring they see you follow a task through to the end. Your kids will learn from your example if they see you happy and confident.

Help Them Get Comfortable With Failure:

Studies show that up to a third of the population could be considered perfectionists. Perfectionists often find it hard to handle failure and tend to over prepare for events so they can constantly meet high standards. It’s important to get kids comfortable trying new things without fearing failure. This will teach them to be well-rounded adults who can adapt and thrive in new environments. They will also learn essential life skills like resilience and problem-solving.

Get Them Engaged In Learning:

Getting kids engaged in learning is fundamental to giving them confidence in school. Try Learn Bright’s hands-on learning programs to give them a taste of real-life experiments that they can engage with and complete in groups or independently. Getting kids involved in hands-on learning is a great way to appeal to visual learners and help boost their confidence in a school environment.

Encourage Team Work:

You can encourage kids to work better together in groups at home. You can do everyday things like letting them plan a meal with you or playing collaborative board games together. Help them build their confidence by encouraging them to work with you and the family to get things done. When they have play dates, you can also get the kids involved in a team activity or encourage them to join an after-school club to engage with children of a similar age.

Praise Perseverance Over Results:

Praise your child for persevering through a hard task, not just for the results they get. Teaching them to keep going even when things get tough is important to raise resilient children. Remember, top marks aren’t always the goal. If your child struggles in math, going up from a C to a C+ can be a significant achievement. If they aren’t into sports, getting them to join a soccer club is something to be celebrated.

There are many ways to engage children through learning or playing and, in doing so, raise them into confident and well-rounded adults.

How To Make Apartment Management Easier

Standard
How To Make Apartment Management Easier

The market size of property management exceeded $100 billion in 2021, and with more and more people choosing apartment living over family homes, there seems to be no end to the boom of property management. Suppose you want to expand your real estate portfolio to include apartment blocks, or you simply want to improve how you run your current properties. In that case, this post looks at some of the best ways to enhance apartment operations and give your tenants the best experience possible:

Eliminate Paperwork and Manual Records:

Manually filing paperwork or accounts can be laborious and lead to mistakes and longer timelines. Instead, you need to have a digital system that allows you to collate and record all the data and information you need from tenants and vendors in one place for easier access and more up-to-date information. This will enable you to better see what is happening and how things operate simultaneously without finding different records or correcting mistakes. If paperwork is something you struggle with, a real estate management company can assist with this to ensure that everything is in place for your tenants. This is a huge part of managing an apartment and needs to be done right.

Automate As Much As Possible:

Automation is key and goes hand in hand with digitizing your records and accounts. Whether this is automatically collecting rental payments, automating repair requests, maintenance schedules, or wages, the more you can get set up to run independently, the easier things will be for you. Building Automation and Control Systems allows you to streamline your operations and always stay in control. Speaking of running things more efficiently, a major hassle can be the constant replacement of keys and locks for your tenants. It can turn into a time consuming task and can be made easier. Considering a service like property management key systems can not only boost safety but keep your tenants in control of their keys at all times.

Outsource:

Outsourcing tedious or time-consuming jobs can lighten your load and allow you to make sure everything is taken care of. Always check with your local state about what is and isn’t legal when outsourcing apartment management to ensure everything is legal and above board. From pool maintenance to outsourcing building checks, safety assessments, or even front-of-house reception staff, you can ensure things are running like clockwork by using third parties to lighten the load. If you’d like to outsource pool maintenance, you can search for services in your local area here https://premierpoolservice.com/locations/ to help keep the pool pristine.

If your property for rent is serving as a vacation rental, it can also be really helpful to have outsourcing options available. This is especially important if you don’t live near your rental property. Looking into a cheap airbnb management company is a budget friendly way to assist with cleaning, maintenance, and interacting with guests. Services like this can provide your rental with higher reviews, repeat bookings, and happy clients.

Improve Communications:

Communications come in many different forms as a property manager. From conversing with tenants and dealing with issues face to face to replying to emails or dealing with vendors or contractors. How you communicate will impact how well you can manage your property and how easily things get done.

Be as clear and concise as possible when talking to residents, and always clarify things with them so you’re both on the same page. Having a third party present when discussing important topics can also be a good idea so everyone is confident about what is happening and you have a witness to discussions should you need it. Other options include using templates uploaded to a website or app that residents can use to log issues. Be it repairs, payment queries, complaints about neighbors, etc. This can allow you to keep all the information in one place and ensure nothing is overlooked when responding to multiple requests.

Managing an apartment isn’t an easy feat, and there are many things you need to juggle to keep things running smoothly. These tips can help you to become more organized, improve communications, and get off on the right foot for maximum satisfaction with employees and residents.

Lil Red’s Book Club: Don’t You Cry By Mary Kubica Edition

Lil Red’s Book Club: Don’t You Cry By Mary Kubica Edition

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new edition of Lil Red’s Book Club! Without giving any spoilers away, as always, we will be discussing a thriller by Mary Kubica called Don’t You Cry. I was not a huge fan of the last Kubica book I read called Just The Nicest Couple, but I did have one more book by her from the library and decided to give the author another shot. Was I overly impressed with Don’t You Cry? Not especially, but I thought the ending in this super slow burn read was pretty good. Before we begin, I will be placing a trigger warning on Don’t You Cry for general violence, abuse, and disturbing content. Now, let’s get to it:

image_67194113(1)

Quinn and Esther are roommates/BFFS who live in Chicago. They became fast friends and are handling adult life as best as they can while still managing to squeeze in lots of fun. Both girls don’t have a close relationship with their families, but they found family in each other. Quinn and Esther have big plans to hit up a new martini bar in the city, however, Esther feels under the weather and Quinn ends up riding solo. The following morning, Quinn wakes up with a stranger in her bed, a hangover from hell, and her roommate is nowhere to be found.

Normally, Esther sings at a nearby church on Sunday mornings so it’s not strange that she’s gone. What is strange is that the window in Esther’s bedroom is wide open and the screen has been punched out. Why would Esther leave via fire escape when she can safely exit from their own front door? Still, Quinn is not worried. What if Esther was sneaking out to meet a guy and wanted to keep private matters private? In her hungover fugue, Quinn returns to bed and expects to be woken up with coffee and a pastry from her bestie.

Alex is eighteen years old and he lives in Michigan. All of his friends are away at college and he is stuck bussing tables at a lakeside cafe to pay the bills for his alcoholic father. Every day is the same for Alex – walk to work, go through the motions at the cafe, walk home, and find his dad either passed out on the couch or belligerent. Alex resides himself to knowing that this will be the rest of his life until, one day, things change. A stranger appears at the cafe. A lovely young woman whom he gives the nickname of “Pearl” because of a bracelet on her wrist.

Infatuated by this newcomer, Alex hopes for her arrival at the cafe every day and finally works up the nerve to speak to her. They don’t say much, she won’t even tell him her name. All he knows is that he likes her. Across the street from Alex’s dilapidated home is an even more dilapidated home. It has been abandoned for a long time and used to house a family whose young daughter died. Alex doesn’t know why, but he enters the home and who should he find but Pearl living in the ruins.

In Chicago, Quinn is desperately trying to piece the clues together to find her friend. While searching her bedroom, she finds strange notes, ATM receipts for substantial withdrawals, and legal documents confirming a change of name. Did Esther willingly leave on her own? Quinn has a hard time believing that because it’s just not like her. Where would she go, anyways – a small town in Michigan, perhaps? Something isn’t right and the answers lie with Pearl and Pearl alone. Will the mystery be solved before someone gets hurt? Read Don’t You Cry to find out!

I am not sure how I feel about Don’t You Cry. I do know I liked it much better than Just The Nicest Couple, but I don’t think I will read anything else from Mary Kubica after this. Her writing style just doesn’t match what I like. Her writing often times feels like she’s either trying too hard or not trying hard enough. Some of what she writes feels like a teenager wrote it for an English class – complete with the peppering of huge words for brownie points. It’s strange to read books that feel so disjointed with every turn of the page.

Both books I read by Kubica never felt cohesive, partially because she has a real knack for creating characters that are so unlikable. There is nothing special about any of them and it made Don’t You Cry drag on like no other. I did like the ending a lot, even if I figured it out beforehand, but it felt like pulling teeth to get to it. Don’t You Cry featured a plethora of dead end story lines, a somewhat uninspired plot, and a reminder of what a watered down thriller writer that Kubica is. Harsh, yes. But what can ya do?

I am going to rate Don’t You Cry with a five out of five stars. The book in its entirety was a snooze fest, but it had a better ending than Just The Nicest Couple and is why it received one star better. This is a book that you can definitely skip on!

What are you currently reading? What should I read next? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Feed Your Dog Well With These Tips

Standard
Feed Your Dog Well With These Tips

As a pet owner, you want to give the best life possible for your pet. When it comes to your dog, you need to make sure that they are exercising, eating well, and feeling positive and secure. Feeding your dog the nutritious diet that they need will help them to stay happy and healthy, but it can be a challenge when money isn’t matching what they need.

Nutritious diets for dogs should give them the right amount of fats, proteins, and vitamins that they require for a healthy lifestyle. Every dog breed and every dog age requires different amounts of food, different natural dog treats, and a moderate level of high quality digestible protein. Understanding the best options for your dog’s health is important so here are some tips to help your dog eat well. Bon appetite!

Protein:

Head to the butchers if you are feeding your dog raw meat. It’s important to make sure that human grade meat doesn’t contain any preservatives. Avoid sausage, cooked or manufactured meats, and make sure that any uncooked bone is wider than the width of your three middle fingers. This is the best option for bone crunching. Marrow bones are very appealing for dogs so you should make sure that your human foods are bought from the butchers.

Sweet Potatoes:

If you want your dog to eat well and have plenty of nutrients, then adding sweet potato to their diet is really going to help. It will improve digestion and it also gives a good dose of beta carotene, which is helpful for healthy skin and bones.

Peanut Butter:

Peanut butter is an excellent snack for dogs, especially because of the vitamin B and the heart healthy fats. There’s a reason that you eat the peanut butter, and those are the same reasons that your dog should eat it too. It’s a good food to use for enrichment games and you can smooth it inside a Kong or other rubber dog toys for them to find and enjoy.

Parsley:

Add some parsley to dog food for minty fresh breath. Well, not quite minty fresh, but it will definitely be better than what it is! Parsley is a good way to improve your dog’s health and give them some much needed vitamins while making their breath smell good.

Porridge:

Puppies love porridge in the morning. If you are making yourself a bowl of porridge, consider making one for your pup as a fiber rich snack. All you need to do is avoid any added sugars or syrups and your dog will be able to enjoy it with you. It should be used exclusively as a treat, however, because while it’s fiber rich it’s not particularly rich in anything else.

Just like humans, the diet for your pet is extremely important. Feed them well with the tips above!

Whatever The Weather OOTD

Whatever The Weather OOTD

Hello! No matter the time of year, everyone in Ohio knows the weather to be temperamental at best. For the past several weeks, we have fluctuated between hot AF, breezy, and rainy days. Most mornings, I am freezing my nads off only to be having a hot flash by mid afternoon! For flip flop weather, the best thing that you can do when you get ready for the day is layer. Then, as the temperature changes, all you have to do is add or remove your layering pieces to your liking.

Last week, my Early Fall OOTD began the saga of the switching weather and we are going to continue on with that theme. At this current juncture, cardigans are my layering BFF. It’s not cold enough for a coat, but you definitely need something to keep you warm until the day heats up. Whatever The Weather, I know that I will be rocking all the fall fashion – my favorite! Check it out:

image_50769665image_50726145(1)image_50738945(7)image_50770945(1)image_50455553(3)

Who? What? Wear?

Emerald Green Cardigan: Candie’s, Kohl’s

White Tank Top: Rachel Zoe, TJMaxx

Floral Pants: Nicole Miller, TJMaxx

Denim Platforms: Bamboo/Cape Robbin, TJMaxx

The necklace is handmade and was purchased at a vendor fair

The earrings are Lucky Brand and were a gift from my mom 🙂

Whenever I am styling an OOTD, I tend to start with one piece of clothing and build from there. In this case, I began from the bottom up in the pants department. Although I am forever partial to my black skinny jeans, I don’t want to wear them all of the time! I have many a patterned pants that deserve their day in the sort of sun and I decided to go with my floral pair by Nicole Miller. These pants were a strategic choice because they made styling SO easy. All I had to do was pull from colors that were featured in the pattern!

With something as bold as a patterned pant, it is wise to go simple for the rest of the look. Patterns on patterns can work, but they also can make for a haphazard appearance if not done properly. I don’t own anything patterned that would have even remotely gone well with my pants so I opted for a plain white tank by Rachel Zoe. Afterwards, I examined the pattern in the pants and pulled from the green in the leaves which helped me choose my emerald green cardi on top. Remember, the colors don’t have to be a perfect match – as long as they are from the same color family, you are golden.

(A little side note about the cardigan: It is old as dirt lol. I bought it when I was twenty I think? I needed business casual attire for a new job and felt oh so grown up in black slacks and the cardigan!)

Finally, it was time for accessories and shoes to complete the look. Since the top portion of my OOTD was completely plain, I added the gorgeous, feather adorned handmade necklace. It fit in beautifully with the earthy palette that I had established. Then, I put on turquoise Lucky Brand earrings to pull from the blue in the pants pattern. To create cohesion from head to toe, I went with my deep denim hued platforms to compliment the dark green on top and I was ready to go!
