New Year, Same Us

New Year, Same Us

Hello! One of my favorite things about being married other than annoying Johnny every day for the rest of our lives is the holidays. I am a huge fan of birthdays, holidays, and any occasion that calls for a family get together and being able to double the celebration time with Johnny’s family is such a treat! This past weekend, Johnny and I celebrated our third New Year together and we just had to show out in our best for the handful of people that saw us lol. Check it out:

image_50731009image_50431489(5)image_50438913(3)image_50445313(2)image_50423041(2)

As you can see, “act more normal” was clearly not one of our New Year’s resolutions. In fact, we didn’t make any! However, we both have several projects and goals that we’d like to see come into fruition this year. I currently have a rough draft for a children’s book and I am meeting with a potential illustrator in a few weeks. I also would very much like to continue gaining clout with my social media presence and blog. While I am a word gal, Johnny is my music guy and he has plans for a new honky tonk band with two of our musician pals. So, no resolutions per se but lots of exciting things to work towards!

Let’s be real, the past few years have sucked eggs. Since 2020, I have gone into every new year thinking the best and then craziness broke out with the pandemic. This is the first time that I have felt, dare I say, hopeful for a new year ahead of us. It is also nice to kick start 2023 with the major goal of self publishing a book. I have never done anything like that before and I am ready to sink my teeth into a brand new challenge. I also have a very rough draft of a sequel written already and a majority of the writing I did was to the tune of Johnny’s guitar. It’s a match made in heaven. ❀

Maybe I feel a bit better about 2023 because nothing could be worse than the last few months of my 2022 lol. I can’t wait for Johnny and I to have success in these side hustle projects and have my fingers crossed that the curve balls will be kept to a minimum!

What is something that you are looking forward to this year? How did you celebrate the new year? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Mad For Plaid OOTD! As I was uploading all of the images below, I couldn’t help but think of the Mean Girls quote about the Burn Book when one of the Plastics was like “We have pictures of everyone in the school, then we wrote comments”. Lol, I suppose my blooper posts are my own mini Burn Books in a way except I am fine with all of my own comments! Let’s see what I have to say for this batch of yikes shots:

These pictures were taken on mine and Johnny’s dilapidated balcony on New Years Eve. While I did have grand plans for a more elaborate backdrop, it was raining like a mother so we worked with what we had to achieve awesome shots as well as shots where it looked like I just took some shots! Because of the inclement weather, I retired to comfy clothes as soon as we were done with pictures. And, because tired, I think I fell asleep on New Years Eve around nine. What can I say, styling and profiling takes a lot out of me!

My only regret about this outfit is that literally no one but Johnny and my parents saw me in it. However, I was feeling myself for the rest of the entire world so it’s all good. In terms of blogging goals for 2023, I want to continue doing as many OOTD posts as I can so here’s to another year of fun and fashion on lifewithlilred! ❀

What did you do for New Years? Did you stay up until midnight? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Jolly AF OOTD! Johnny and I had the best date day while I was sporting this look and it doesn’t get more holly or jolly than that. And, of course, it’s jolly AF to poke some good old fashioned fun at myself too so let’s get to the yikes shots that definitely aren’t Christmas card worthy:

OOTDs are, honestly, my time to pretend like I’m on America’s Next Top Model and as you can see from the pictures above, I am well on my way lol. These posts have always been one of my favorite things to create for lifewithlilred because it’s purely fun for me. I just love the process of it. Styling an outfit, picking out a location, and trying to get perfect pictures is a fashion challenge that I am always up for. And, although going through the million pictures that Johnny takes each shoot can be a time consuming chore, the hunt for the best bloopers turns it into a much more enjoyable feat!

One of my goals for these past few months was doing a lot more OOTD posts and, unfortunately, that didn’t go as planned due to unforeseen circumstances. However, the craziness has slowed down significantly in Lil Red’s world and I am excited to get back on the horse for more fashion, shoots, and date days with my blog husband! And, of course, laughing at all of the shots that make me glad that I haven’t fully quit my day job. πŸ˜€

Stay tuned on lifewithlilred for all of the Jolly AF Christmas festivities. Even those dead inside still know how to get down with the holiday spirit!

What is your favorite thing to blog about? Do you delete “bad” shots or post them anyway? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Jolly AF OOTD

Jolly AF OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! After a wildly successful haul at TJMaxx, I have been dying to break out some of my new purchases and did so on Saturday. Johnny and I spent a wonderful afternoon visiting at my parents’ and then we went to downtown Cuyahoga Falls to take some pictures and go to our favorite bar. This was a quick photo shoot because it was freaking freezing out but, as always, Johnny was a stellar blog husband and only complained a little! Lol, check it out:

image_50753537(2)image_50456577(6)image_50415617(4)image_50753281(2)image_50737665(3)image_50735105(1)

Who? What? Wear?

Last Friday, my bestie and I had our annual holiday hang out and she gifted me with the most amazing T-shirt by Sadie Maes Co that features the tagline “Dead Inside But Jolly AF”. Nothing has ever spoken so much to me before and I truly believe that this shirt was made for me. With the approaching holiday, I just had to break it out in an OOTD and mine and Johnny’s Saturday date day was the perfect occasion.

It is very rare for me to feature a T-shirt as a piece in an OOTD. In fact, this might be the first time ever in lifewithlilred’s over eight year history! In a way, it almost threw me off a little because while a T-shirt is an essential item in the wardrobe, it is very casual. Rather than try to dress this T up, I embraced it and styled this look with running errands or a lunch date in mind. Nothing goes better with a T-shirt than jeans and to make things more interesting, I went with my ultra distressed pair from American Eagle Outfitters.

My Jolly AF outfit is about as dressed down as I get when I step out and I thought that my new Philosophy topper jacket would be a good compliment to the vibe I was going for. The pattern is so fun and bold but the light knit material offers an easygoing air to throw on over a T-shirt. I loved how the deep red and black pattern looked over the fossil grey T and this jacket is also long enough to cover the exposed parts of my legs. Very nice!

With the base of my outfit ready, it was time to accessorize. I went with one of my favorite pairs of Bamboo heeled boots for several reasons. 1) Gold and red is stunning together so the brocade pattern was ideal. 2) These boots blended seamlessly into the jeans for a nice, long leg line. 3) With a more simple base of the outfit, it gave me the opportunity to use statement heels. The Bamboo boots gave a touch of glam without going overboard and I was happy to incorporate that into an on the go OOTD.

During the cold winter months, it is a necessity to accessorize with warm bonus pieces. I didn’t want to overdo it on cold weather accessories, especially because the jacket and boots were statements enough. Remember, accessories are meant to enhance an outfit so if they start taking away from the base of your look, it might be a good idea to remove some. To keep with the grey motif, I chose my smiley face scarf by Nardi & Tagliaferri. This seemed like the best option, considering the slightly macabre memo on the shirt!Β  I also went with my favorite Steve Madden fingerless gloves. I love the surprise colors peeking out on the fingers and it added some variety to the color palette I was working with without being distracting.

To complete this look, I added a cool pair of dangly dagger earrings that I got on vacation. I like to think of my neck as one of my good features and am never thrilled to cover it up with a scarf. If you feel similarly, put on a simple pair of dangle earrings to still draw attention to that area and give the illusion of length despite your wrap or scarf. It works like a charm!

This was such a fun OOTD to create and I am so happy to use my new clothes and Christmas prezzie in a brand new look. Keep it posted on lifewithlilred for the bloopers from this shoot! ❀

What is your favorite cold weather accessory? Do you like to dress up or dress down? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Comfy Cozy Thxgiving OOTD! For three Thanksgivings, I served three separate looks and now it’s time to check out the pics that most definitely didn’t make the first cut. This post is part bloopers and part story time because somehow while Johnny was snapping pics, something reminded me of one of the lamest things my bestie and I did in high school and I had to tell him all about it. Naturally, I had no idea he was taking my pictures throughout this lengthy tale but now I get to share them with all of you! Check it out:

I can not remember for the life of me what brought upon this manifesto of a high school aged bestie and I but apparently I really needed to tell Johnny about it for the fifth time. I’m sure all of you knew a girl in high school who stuffed her bra with tissue or toilet paper but have you ever heard of anyone who used the same method for their butt? We did! In high school, there was this girl who stuffed her butt and it was not just a rumor – there was evidence to back it up. From tissue sticking out of her pants to her butt deflating after each class period, she was not fooling anyone and literally the whole school knew about it.

For shits and gigs, my best friend and I would pay homage to this person by stuffing our butts Every. Single. Time. we hung out. Needless to say, we went through a ton of toilet paper at our parents’ houses during our high school years. Was this a necessary thing to do? Absolutely not. Was it hilarious to us? ABSOLUTELY. We were like women possessed and our hangouts just didn’t feel right without it. It was, honestly, the dumbest thing but it still cracks me up to this day. In fact, if you look at the fourth image down, I’m pretty sure I’m about to say “butt” lol. Hey, what’s being in high school without doing the stupidest stuff ever?! Good times.

Am I particularly proud of this story? I mean… kind of lol I guess we just had to match the utter ridiculousness of the situation with some ridiculousness of our own. And now we can all share a laugh on the blogosphere fourteen years later! πŸ˜€

What is one of the dumbest things you did in high school? How about one of the dumbest things you did as an adult? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Johnny For A Day OOTD Bonus Pics

Hello everyone!! Johnny and I had a blast passing out candy to trick-or-treaters this past Saturday and were so impressed by the adorable and sometimes hilarious costumes we saw. Our favorites were an inflatable chicken and a little girl dressed up as Audrey Hepburn. And, I hate to toot my own horn BUT my costume was one of my favorites too lol. I dressed up as my husband for Halloween and I am still basking in the success of it. This look also had me feeling like a billion bucks so now I know how Johnny feels every day! Check out some bonus pics from my Johnny For A Day OOTD:

OOTD posts are my absolute favorite thing to create for lifewithlilred for a plethora of reasons. I love everything about it from styling the look to selecting the perfect location and fancying myself as an America’s Next Top Model contestant when Johnny takes my pictures. Whenever Johnny is snapping away, I don’t have specific inspiration in my mind in terms of the poses I do and I think that’s why this shoot was so successful. I had concert Johnny in mind with every shot!

Seeing my husband play music always blows my mind but it just hits different when he’s playing a live show. He is constantly moving around the stage, doing crazy back bends, squats, and the cutest little foot kicks lol. For this shoot, I tried to embody some of Johnny’s signature moves with a fashion twist and I am so proud of how the end result turned out. I knew that these pictures were 150% Johnny but it felt awesome to have our friends and those that know him best confirm it too. ❀

My Johnny For A Day OOTD is one of my favorite looks that I have styled for lifewithlilred and I already can’t wait to create some more. Keep it posted tomorrow to wrap up this look with the blooper reel!

What is your favorite Halloween candy? What has been one of your favorite Halloween costumes that you saw this year? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Johnny For A Day OOTD

Johnny For A Day OOTD

Hello! Johnny and I had a wonderful Halloween weekend and I hope that all of you did too! On Friday, we had a game night with one of our friends and on Saturday, Johnny and I got dressed up in our Halloween best to pass out candy in my parents’ neighborhood. We had so much fun seeing all of the adorable trick-or-treat costumes and definitely plan on being the delegated candy passer-outers next year too!

The trick-or-treaters weren’t the only ones with good costumes and, while I hinted that I was going to wear my wedding dress in a previous post, I decided to go a different route. I took one of my other suggestions and created a costume inspired by my husband, instead! I freaking LOVE how it turned out and everyone in our friend group thought that I nailed it too. GREAT SUCCESS! Check it out:

How It Started:

How It’s Going:

image_50738177(4)image_50434561(2)image_50404865(2)image_50769921image_50740737(1)image_50452993(1)

Who? What? Wear?

Ever since Johnny and I began dating, I have been inspired by his personal style that is part glam rock part emo kid. Seeing the amazing outfits that he would put together while playing a concert or just hanging out would put my heart in a tizzy! While I am a lucky lady to have such a fashion forward husband, I am even luckier because his clothes fit me lol. This is not the first time that I have worn one of his fabulous button downs in his collection and it certainly won’t be the last. πŸ˜€

For my Halloween costume, I embodied “concert Johnny” because he always follows the same formula for showtime OOTDs: Killer shoes, skinny jeans, flashy button down, and a scarf. This was probably the easiest OOTD that I have ever assembled because straying too far from what he wears for a concert would have defeated the point of the costume! He has also never worn the button down that I selected for a show before so I was honored to give it a test drive. My consensus: It works!

When I started styling this look, I originally had on one of his snakeskin patterned tops in a more muted shade. However, it just wasn’t popping enough since I wanted to go full glam rock. I tried on the red velvet button down with glittery polka dots next and I knew that it was the one. Also, if you look closely, you will notice that the buttons on it are little skull heads – so cool! This button down by Phix was also the perfect one to pair with Johnny’s black and white striped scarf. The White Stripes themed color palette looked rock concert ready and I could picture Johnny wearing it and looking fantastico.

Skinny jeans were a must for this Johnny inspired costume and, while he has never worn distressed jeans, I wanted to show a bit of skin since everything else was covered up. I probably wouldn’t have worn these AEO skinnies if it wasn’t such a nice night for trick-or-treat but it was warm enough that I got away with it. I also have to take advantage of showing off my tattoos before it gets too cold to do so!

Finally, it was time for shoes and I knew just the pair. Although they are a far cry from Johnny’s signature pointed toe Chelsea boots, I just had to break out my devil horn platforms from Dolls Kill. I wanted to add some obvious Halloween flare to this outfit and what better way to do that than with some costume ready platform boots?! They are so cheeky and fun with the horns and devil tail going up the heels. These boots also tied together the whole outfit beautifully. The red of the boots and the top are an almost perfect match and a little extra glitter never hurt anyone. ❀

I am so proud of how this costume turned out and Johnny was very impressed, albeit a little weirded out, that his wife was dressed just like him! Lol, tune in tomorrow for bonus pics from this look as well as how Johnny’s concert moves inspired all of the pictures we took!

What did you dress up as for Halloween? How did you celebrate Halloween? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

As you all know, Johnny takes what feels like a thousand pictures in under ten minutes per OOTD shoot. Sometimes, I am model level WERKING and the bloopers are minimal. Other times, it feels like a majority of the shots taken are bloopers! It is such a mixed bag and the Pumpkin Patch Party outfit gave me a solid half winners and half total losers lol. Either way, it makes for a good time going through the end results. πŸ˜€

Johnny’s proudest picture from our time at Heritage Farms was, easily, the leaf on my butt. Once I pointed it out to him, he spent about ten minutes looking at it, laughing, and then repeating the process. He also made it a point to zoom in on this faux pas to really show off his handiwork. He claims he “didn’t notice it at all” but I am thinking otherwise *Face palm*. Regardless, he is the best blog husband so I can’t be too mad. ❀ πŸ˜‰

It is a breath of fresh air to poke some good old fashioned fun at myself after talking up an outfit and pictures. Remember, for every good pic an influencer posts, there are probably twenty like the ones you see above!

Heritage Farms Date Day

Hello!! This past Saturday, Johnny and I had a lovely date day/OOTD shoot at the Heritage Farms pumpkin patch. Because, let’s be real, are you really a fashion blogger if you don’t take pictures at a pumpkin patch during spooky season?! The answer is: NO! We even got surprised by a super sweet woman who insisted on taking our pictures after yelling “POWER COUPLE ALERT” lol. Check it out:

image_50452225(1)image_50456321(2)image_50737921image_50455553(1)image_50750977image_50454785(3)

^^^ You can peep this OOTD tomorrow!!

Heritage Farms is a beautiful property that hosts all kinds of different events year round. There are farmers markets in the summer, pumpkin patches in the fall, and a Christmas tree farm come winter. The pumpkin patch was SO perfect and was decked out with something for everyone. There were food trucks, pumpkins of every shape and size, and a children’s area featuring games and hay rides. I can’t wait to take my nieces!! πŸ˜€

We couldn’t have asked for better weather for our date day and what started out really chilly turned into a sunny and warm fall afternoon. It felt wonderful to walk around and breathe in that fresh fall air and see all of the other families having such a great time. Nothing warms mine and Johnny’s hearts more than seeing other people basking in the glory of Halloween time. ❀

After selecting two baby pumpkins apiece, we started to get hungry and continued our date at a bar called The Basement. I had never been before even though it’s right down the street from our apartment and the food was, shockingly, insanely good. We returned home with very full bellies and I treated Johnny to some pampering by dyeing his hair. Then, it was time for Magic The Gathering and video games to wrap up a fantastic day.

Ever since Johnny and I began doing our combined date and OOTD shoot on Saturdays, I have been such a happy camper. It gives me something to look forward to every week and it is so much fun to explore all kinds of different places in the greater Akron area with my main squeeze. I can’t wait to figure out where we’ll go next week!

What does your ideal date consist of? What is your favorite fall activity? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Johnny has been taking my OOTD pictures for the better part of three years and I think that we have mastered the song and dance of the process. What originally started out as a somewhat awkward and time consuming feat has been perfected. These photo shoots take less than ten minutes which is a huge improvement from back in the day when it was a twenty or so minute ordeal. Talk about progress, baby!

I am so appreciative to Johnny for always helping his girl out and his rapid fire picture taking is what makes these blooper segments even possible. He also gets a huge kick out of the “bad” pictures! Every time I show him one I love, he’ll tell me “I know, I was there!” But every yikes shot makes him bust a gut lol. The give and take of marriage!!

The blooper reel is a blast for your favorite husband and wife OOTD duo and I hope that it is just as much fun for all of you. Keep it posted here on lifewithlilred for lots more fall fabulousness!
