The Digital Era’s Effect On Our Insecurities

The Digital Era’s Effect On Our Insecurities

It’s hard to exist in a world with access to social media ‘round the clock. Instead of seeing real people, you see idealized versions of beauty and celebrities with unattainable airbrushed looks. Try as we might, natural beauty is not natural enough when they need to be on the cover of magazines. In this digital era, it seems like everyone’s insecurities are magnified. If all of the constant focus on beauty is making you feel insecure, here are some tips that you can do to start loving yourself a little more:

Hair Care:

Your hair is your crowning glory, they say. It makes sense that people want to care for their locks because of how much it affects their appearance. However, no matter how shiny you think your hair already is, when you see hair product advertisements, suddenly your hair is not smooth enough, colored evenly enough, or straightened sufficiently. Ads and commercials get some editing help, of course, but the message is already evident. You need to change your hair products, perhaps consider switching to herbal hair care, and love your curls rather than killing them with heat from styling every day. All of these changes you’re considering will be helpful because they are overall good for your hair and will show positive results over time.

Body Image:

Hair is just one part of the body, and it can already give you so much insecurity. What more if you don’t have the “perfect” body? Lots of people have uncertainties stemming from a negative body image, and this is brought on by the lack of love for different body types in the beauty industry. Even now that there is room for plus size models, we still see them conforming to the hour-glass shape that the industry has deemed ideal. Thankfully, some big names in the industry are choosing to release their unedited photos to show their fans that, though it might look like it in magazines, they do not have a perfect body. Everyone’s body is different and beautiful, and the more that this is normalized, the better for body positivity movements.

Talent:

When you look at celebrities, they always seem to be oozing with talent. They have a good singing voice and can dance, too. They also look good in everything they do. Some are good enough to be chefs and others can speak several languages. When you compare your skills with them, you think you fall short. The thing is, you should not be comparing yourself with another person, be they a celebrity or not. Each person has different skills, and instead of telling yourself you’re not good enough, you should focus on self-improvement. Celebrities train rigorously to learn what they need for their craft; you should also try to improve your skills and not knock yourself if others do it better. They all started as beginners, too.

The digital age has given us some of the most advanced features and gadgets we could have asked for. However, it also highlights some of our biggest insecurities. It’s up to you to take that power away from them by loving yourself!

Honing & Perfecting Your Own Style

Standard
Honing & Perfecting Your Own Style

Everyone has their own style, but you could easily argue that not everyone is fully aware of their own style. That is a real shame, because it is important to be able to feel truly comfortable with yourself and in your own skin – and if you’re not, then you will probably find that life is considerably less enjoyable on the whole. If you are keen to try and discover what your own style is, then you might want to think about some of the following:

Trial & Error:

Probably the most important thing to bear in mind, is that it usually takes a lot of trial and error before you can come across your own style. What that essentially means, is that you need to be prepared to perhaps not look your best, or even look quite silly, before you can discover what you look really good in. This sense of using trial and error to determine your style is likely to take some time, but you will find that it is the most effective means of ensuring that you actually manage to find it at all.

To begin with, you need to try out a number of different clothes styles, and you need to do so in different settings, so that you can really get a feel for how you look in what kind of environment. That is something which you will need to try out a lot and, again, you will have to be prepared to maybe feel a little silly along the way. But, as long as you are happy to do that, you will soon find that you can get to grips with what kind of clothing style tends to suit you best. Of course, it’s not just about your clothes, either. You will also want to think about what kind of general attitude and approach feels natural to you, but that is more to do with simply being true to your actual way of being than anything else, and that is what we are going to look at next.

hone1

Cool sneaks are always a good look!

Be True To Yourself:

Along the way, it is important to make sure that you are being true to yourself, as hard as that can often be to do. In doing so, you should find that you can much more easily get to your own sense of style. The best way to do this is to make sure that you try not to pay too much attention to what other people think. That is much easier said than done, and most people will find that it takes a considerable amount of practice to get there, but as long as you are keen to do that you should find that you can eventually get to the point where you are being true to yourself, and not living for others.

Once you start along that path, you will gradually develop a groove, and you will find it easier to live your own way without worrying about others. The next natural step will be to have your own style. You will start to follow the path of least resistance, and you will be able to enjoy being you as truly as you like. Being true to yourself might sound like a cliche, but it’s the only way to really live your life.

hone2

So cool!

Have A Signature:

While trying to perfect your own style, developing a signature is important. This can be a stand-out thing which is quite obvious or, if you prefer, it can be more subtle and you can simply wait for people to notice this particular thing about you. If you want to try and do this, either way, you will want to make sure that this signature is something which is actually true to yourself, and not merely something that you are trying to show off with. This is not about impressing people, but about having some clear signature which you can point to and is indicative of your style in some way.

This is not to say that it needs to be absolutely original in order to be effective, either. It might just so happen that you are going to be able to have a signature which is fairly common, and yet is still true to you, and that is something which you should admit is going to be fairly likely. For instance, a lot of people have tattoos, and these generally constitute their signatures, and you might have your own eye on a particular tattoo which is going to do that for you, too. If so, you will want to make sure that you are truly happy with it, as the last thing you want is to regret a tattoo. Of course, you should bear in mind that it is always possible to use tattoo laser removal, so it is never the end of the world, anyways. But, regardless, it is best to really be happy with it before you get it!

Take Care Of Yourself:

If you are taking proper care of yourself, you will find it considerably easier to be able to be true to your own sense of style, and that will mean that you are much more likely to enjoy being you, in turn. Taking care of yourself means a lot of things and you should try to do as much of it as possible. Mostly, it is about ensuring that you are actually going to keep looking after your body through exercise and a proper diet, and that you are taking care of yourself psychologically, as well. As long as you are doing these things, you will find that it is easier to be true to yourself, and in turn to develop your style as you wish.

Unpretty

Unpretty

Hi everyone! Ugh, I’ve got to say, it’s been a really shitty past few weeks. Since my wisdom teeth surgery. I have been in a lot of pain and I just can’t seem to shake it. My sleep schedule has been thrown off completely, as I now wake up multiple times during the night to deal with the constant throbbing, which then results in bathroom breaks, and me not being able to fall asleep again for another hour or so.

And, because I am not sleeping well, I am so damn tired upon awakening that I can’t even get myself ready for an agonizing day at work. Not to mention that it would hurt too bad to try, anyways! I legit haven’t done my hair or makeup in well over a week now and it’s really starting to get to me.

I always pride myself on getting dressed to the nines to go about my day. It makes me feel good to know that I truly put my best face forward and when I’m out and about on the job, the most professional form of myself is out there. So, my self esteem has taken a beating post-op because of my no makeup streak.

Now, don’t get me wrong – I live for my no makeup days during the weekend. It doesn’t get much better than sporting a fresh face after being on the old nine to five grind for the week. But, almost two weeks of being au natural is pretty excessive for me, especially when my face has been bruised and swollen for the majority of it. And, because the pain has been so bad, I’ve been dressing for comfort, which Lil Red never does! Combining all of these circumstances has left me feeling downright Unpretty, and I just want to get back to my normal self.

Reading this, I’m sure it’s easy to say that I’m being too hard on myself. And, I know I am, which is the crazy thing. But, I hate not feeling like myself and this surgery has left me feeling so broken. Even now, I feel like I’m totally rambling but, ugh, I just needed to get all of this off my chest so thanks to all of you so much for listening. ❤

How do you get yourself feeling back to normal after being in the doldrums? What are some of your natural pain relief tips? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Learning To Love Your Appearance Every Single Day

Learning To Love Your Appearance Every Single Day

You might have laughed at the title of this post because it’s not possible to love your appearance every single day, right? We all have the occasional “good hair day”, but that’s it. However, there’s no need to be so cynical. There are always going to be days on which you’re not a fan of your hair or you look a little sleepier than usual, but you can learn to love your appearance even when it’s not 100%. It all comes down to improving your mindset. And your mental health is linked to your physical health, so this will help to give your appearance a glow too. Reducing stress can reduce acne, for example, so there’s a clear correlation. Here’s how you can improve your mindset and learn to love your appearance every day:

Facial Beauty:

Let’s start off with your face, because that’s often the main point of focus when it comes to appearance. Many of us are critical of our facial appearance, but this is an aspect of beauty that’s easy to alter. You could start off by trying out microblading if you want to improve your brow game. Eyebrows have become a very important part of facial beauty over recent years, and you might find that changing the shape of your brows changes the appearance of your entire face. You could also try cutting back on foundation; makeup doesn’t always have to be the answer. Giving your skin a break from excessive use of foundation might help to clear up any blemishes, and it’ll make you naturally glow.

Sometimes treatments and makeup aren’t enough to make a drastic change. If you are looking for big improvements, you could find a reputable plastic surgeon to consult with. Looking for something less extreme? How about changing your eye color! Hazel, green, even purple, and blue eye contacts are available to see the whole world through a different set of eye colors!

Fashion:

Fashion is another integral part of loving your appearance every single day. The way you dress has a massive impact on your overall look. If you dress well every day, then you’ll look good every day. It’s as simple as that. But avoid fast fashion; opt for clothes that are timelessly stylish so that they can stay in your wardrobe for years. That being said, if you give away some of your old clothes to charity because they no longer fit or suit you, then there might be an opening in your wardrobe for some new additions. If you want to get inspired, then you should look into some fashionable boutiques which offer modern yet varied options. It’s important that you’re not too restrictive with your choice of style. Fashion should reflect your personality, so have fun with it.

Sleep:

One of the best ways to improve your appearance is to improve your health. The way we look on the outside is a reflection of how well we take care of ourselves. Cutting out unhealthy habits such as smoking and drinking can help to improve your skin quality, for instance. You also need to prioritize a healthy sleeping pattern. The term “beauty sleep” is probably nothing new to you, and there’s a lot of substance to this idea. A cup of coffee might make you feel more awake, but does it get rid of the bags under your eyes? No. And that’s because your body is trying to tell you it needs rest. You can’t cut corners when it comes to sleeping well. Sleep deprivation can weaken your immune system, slow your metabolism, and even reduce muscle repair. In other words, your healthy workouts won’t have the impact you want. Start sleeping better if you want your body to improve in appearance. You’ll look and feel good. It’s about more than vanity; it’s about your physical and emotional wellbeing.

A Life Lesson From Facebook

A Life Lesson From Facebook

Hi everyone! Facebook is the only form of social media that I have and I definitely prefer it that way. For the most part, it keeps me entertained and it would be just too much to have to maintain other social media pages on top of my blog. While scrolling through the book, I came across a meme that said something along the lines of “The people who are doing better than you don’t look down on you, it’s the ones who are falling behind that are hating” or whatever. Reading this poorly paraphrased quote instantly reminded me of a little story that goes like this:

I was once on a date with a guy and we were talking about college while we were in his car. At the time, I was at Cuyahoga Community College and he was at Kent State University studying photography. So, we’re sitting there talking and he tells me that he’s failing basically all of his classes. Meanwhile, I share with him that I’m really enjoying all of my courses and I wish that I had started my college career earlier. And, he snaps back with “that’s because you go to community college”.

Excuse me?!?!

Because he was the one failing his courses and I’m thriving in a college setting, that automatically makes Tri-C easier? Although they offer the same classes as any college in the area? Righhhhhht. I spent over three years out of school and I made the choice to give college a try even though I was so nervous of failure that I sometimes found it hard to breathe. And, instead of congratulating me for what would surely be a difficult task for anyone, he replied with a verbal slap in the face.

I’ll never forget this story, because it is so incredibly off putting. But, seeing it from the light of what that meme on Facebook said made me see it in an entirely different way. It was basically a rephrasing of the quote from The Interview “They hate us cause they ain’t us”. Lol, I was so confident in how I was doing in school and proud of myself but, someone tried to dull that down because he wasn’t happy with himself. And this, boys and girls, is an awful way to be.

I guess the point that I’m making is to not let anyone’s jealousy or whatever they might be feeling take away your confidence. Jealous people want you to stoop down to their level, because misery loves company. No matter what anyone says, words hurt. Use your words appropriately and, if you need to think about whether you should say something or not, chances are that you shouldn’t!

Has anyone ever had a similar scenario to the one that I described? How do you deal with haters? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Little Touch Up Here And There

Sometimes our bodies just aren’t the way we want them to be. We think to ourselves, I’d love to change this or I wish I looked like that. But can we always have what we want? No, we can’t. I Can See Clearly Now!

Let’s face it, you can’t, can you? If there’s one thing that affects a majority of you reading this, it is going to be your eyesight. Some people are born with poor eyesight, some start to lose it during their teenage years, or even due to injury. When your vision becomes bad and you do have to rely on glasses, it can be one of the most annoying things! One option would be to consider looking at the types of lasik treatment to see if your sight can be corrected. And you could easily do the same, if you put your mind to it. If you want that washboard look and you want it quickly, you should try and get yourself a personal trainer. They’ll whip you into shape, give you something to commit to, and give you all of the diet tips that you could ever need for a rockin’ bod.

Get Some Work Done:

More and more women are coming around to the idea of getting a bit of work done, and there is nowhere near the stigma there once was surrounding this sort of procedure.

This is why it is such a great idea to visit a med spa, where you can combine some touch ups with a relaxing and tranquil spa experience. Being able to relax and destress is a big part of feeling good about yourself, and having strong body confidence can positively affect this. Body Issues: Learning To Overcome Insecurities And Love Yourself

Standard
Body Issues: Learning To Overcome Insecurities And Love Yourself

A study found that 63% of female participants identified their weight as the key factor in how they felt about themselves. Despite the rise of positive body awareness, such as Ashley Graham’s #BeautyBeyondSize, thousands of women feel the anxiety to keep up with celebrities and social media. The good news, is that there is never a ‘better time’ to start loving and taking care of yourself than right now. Here’s how you can learn to overcome insecurities and love yourself:

Make Healthy Changes:

What better way to boost self-confidence than to achieve long-term goals. Rather than setting impossible goals such as ‘losing 20 pounds in a week” or “achieving a tiny waist in three months”, aim to start a new fitness routine and incorporate organic foods into your diet. When you eat right and exercise on a regular basis, your hormones will slowly fall into balance and help you to feel your best.

Consider A Makeover:

While a proper diet and fitness routine can help you lose the unwanted weight, thousands of women still struggle with extra baggage. Despite the “taboo” of plastic surgery, 17.5 million procedures were performed in 2017 alone, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. If you’re tempted to get liposuction or a tummy tuck to reduce loose skin, you’re not the only one. In fact, nearly 2 million individuals opted for immense services like boob jobs, liposuction, and rhinoplasty. So, whether it is a total “Mommy Makeover” or a simple lip injection, your plastic surgeon will guide you and address the most common body issues.

Of course, any kind of plastic surgery is not a decision that should be made lightly. There is always going to be a risk when you go under the knife. Before you schedule any consultations with a surgeon, it is highly recommended to read their reviews online. For example, enter a search for “liposuction cardiff” (or your local area) to see if former patients were happy with their results.

Always remember that there is nothing wrong with wanting to improve your appearance and using plastic surgery to do so. This is a topic that will always be somewhat taboo but if you feel confident about your choice then other people’s opinions are meaningless. The most important thing you can do is find an excellent surgeon to help you in the safest way possible so don’t be afraid to shop around. Enter a search for “plastic surgery houston” (or your local area) and schedule consultations with as many practitioners as you need to find the best fit for you.

Dealing with the Root of the Problem:

We all have our moments of highs and lows, but what’s important is that we see beauty in many shapes and sizes. So, to help you focus on dealing with what makes you feel insecure, you must first look at what triggers those emotions. Here are some ways to discover more about your interests, insecurities, desires, and most of all, yourself:

  • Writing a blog or your own personal journal about what you love about your body.
  • Stand in front of the mirror and look at yourself in a positive way. Like really look at yourself and voice out your favorite attributes.
  • Seek support from counselors, family, and friends to help you battle the insecurities and solve the underlying issue.

The reality is that no amount of diet, weight loss, or even plastic surgery can fix poor body image and low self-esteem. Those who struggle with negative body image must discover the underlying issues and learn how it is influencing the way that they feel about themselves.

Changing the way you look may seem like a tangible way to alter what you disliked about your body. But, the only way to heal from low self-confidence is to address the issues and face them head-on. Only then can you truly learn how to overcome your insecurities and love yourself.

Fight These Common Causes Of Low Self Esteem

Standard
Fight These Common Causes Of Low Self Esteem

One of the best things about life is being able to put ourselves first. Sure, it is always good to help others and ensure that our actions aren’t negatively affecting the people around us, but at the end of the day, we need to live our lives so that they benefit us and place us at number one. By making sure we do what is right for us and making decisions that will benefit us and our life, we can then start to truly love ourselves and feel good about our life choices.

However, loving ourselves isn’t always as easy as it should be. That’s because it can sometimes be easier to find reasons to hate ourselves and put ourselves down. More often than not, this causes low self-esteem and poor self-confidence. Low self-esteem can have many negative effects, especially on our mental health. If we suffer with it for long periods of time, it can transform into anxiety disorders.

If you are suffering from low self-esteem, then you will no doubt be busy trying to find a solution to all of these negative feelings. Most experts believe that the best way to deal with any self doubts is to find the cause of them and tackle them head on. So, this begs the question: what are the causes of low self-esteem? Here are some of the most common ones and what you can do about them.

selfff1Smile!

Toxic Relationships:

Bad relationships can be the cause of a lot of grief and heartache. Unfortunately, they can also often lead directly to feelings of self-doubt and low confidence. Not only that, though, but it can also cause issues with trust. When we enter into a relationship with someone, we put all of our trust into them. When they abuse this trust, we can often feel worthless and like our trust means nothing. However, that is very much not the case. The best thing that you can do in this situation, is to get out of the toxic relationship as soon as you can.

Even if you still love your partner, it is important that you remove yourself from the relationship so that your confidence and mental health isn’t damaged any further. Just keep on telling yourself that you deserve someone who truly loves you and won’t throw your trust back in your face. Don’t forget that this toxicity doesn’t only apply to romantic relationships. Friendships can often turn bad. If you think that your friends are bringing you down and causing you self-esteem problems, it could be a good idea to move on from them.

selfff2#byebye

A Poor Body Image:

Some people struggle with their body image, and they find that their poor body confidence ends up dragging down their self-confidence as a whole. If this sounds like your main problem, then it is worth trying to change how you see yourself and working on improving your body confidence. There are a few things that you can do which will help this. First of all, you should stop comparing your body to others. We are all made differently, so there are bound to be lots of different shapes out there. And there isn’t a perfect or ideal one – that is just something that the media came up with to try and sell more gossip magazines!

As well as not comparing yourself to others, you should also ignore what the media has to say about body shapes and sizes. They only print what they do to sell more copies of magazines and newspapers, and get more clicks on their sites! One other way that you can give your body image a boost is to surround yourself with people who love you for who you are and who will fill you with confidence. If you find that the people who you hang out with are trying to get you to change the way you look or the clothes you wear, they aren’t doing you any good and they certainly aren’t your friends.

selfff3Pexels Image

The Aging Process:

You aren’t born with self-confidence issues. Sometimes, they come and go throughout life. Some women find that even if they were super confident throughout their twenties and thirties, once they hit middle age, they lose all of their self-esteem. And that is largely due to the aging process. No one wants to get older. Not only that, but many people find it hard to deal with the physical changes that their body undergoes as they start to grow old. So, there’s no wonder that many people try to hide the tell-tale signs of aging, such as under eye lines and crow’s feet. If you find that you are feeling down about getting old, you might find that changing your mindset to a more positive one really helps improve your feelings and helps you come to terms with aging.

selfff4Always try and make the best of the aging process!

Feeling Guilty:

We all make mistakes as we go through life, but some of those mistakes seem to haunt us for longer than others. Having this guilt hang around our heads constantly can get us down and will eventually lead to very poor self-esteem. If at all possible, you need to shake away the guilt. One way around these negative feelings is to try and think of all of the positive things that came from making these mistakes. For instance, perhaps a particular mistake actually opened up some doors for you in your life and were able to bring you more opportunities. Plus, it is important to remember that mistakes can be learned from and help you grow and develop as a better person. I’m sure that some good came from your mistakes. Focus on this positivity and forget about the guilty feelings!

Setting Goals That Are Too Big:

Another problem that most people have to deal with is a self-imposed one. The majority of us set ourselves targets and goals in life to stay as productive and motivated as possible. Then, when we achieve them, we can feel proud and successful. However, it is very important that when you do think about our life goals and targets, that they aren’t too big and unachievable. Otherwise, they will be impossible for you to reach, and you will end up extremely frustrated and unfulfilled in the process.

As a result, you may end up thinking that you are not really good enough. Eventually, those thoughts will lead to poor self-confidence and self-esteem. So, the best way to tackle this is to prevent these thoughts in the first place. Rather than setting yourself goals that are exceptionally high, you should consider reducing them to make them more achievable. That way, you can feel good when you work towards them rather than beating yourself up every time you fail.

selfff5Bullseye!

Traumatic Experiences:

Sometimes people go through traumatic life experiences and, even though they are able to make a full recovery, they are often left plagued by low self-esteem. The best way around this is to sign up for some therapy sessions. During each session, you will be able to speak to a therapist about your ordeal, and they will help you come to terms with any PTSD or resulting self-confidence issues.

Living life with low self esteem is no way to live life. Begin to tackle your issues and watch yourself blossom!

Eight Confidence Boosting Tips For Every Day

Standard
Eight Confidence Boosting Tips For Every Day

We’re all dreaming of the day when we wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, and are happy with what we see. Until that day arrives, we can work on our self-esteem and confidence, so we can learn to appreciate the beauty on the inside and the outside, and become more aware of our flaws and best features. Confidence can help you find the best ways of creating your own style, achieving your goals, and becoming more successful. From learning to appreciate your skills and knowledge to working on your limitations, there are plenty of ways that you can boost your confidence to look and feel better every day. Here are a few tips for you to consider:

1.   Positive Affirmations

To build your confidence, you might want to find some positive affirmations that you can repeat to yourself every day. When you don’t feel like meeting people, or you feel like you look ten years older than you are, you have to acknowledge the thoughts and focus on the positives. Some people call this the “fake it till you become it” attitude, but you shouldn’t try to pretend to be someone else. Instead, find positive things about yourself and focus on what you have achieved instead of what you failed at.

2.   Self-Compassion

If you fear rejection or failure, you are likely to have inner frustrations and anger to deal with. The best approach is to learn self-compassion through meditation and mindfulness training. You will find that you have to love yourself and recognize your value before others would. Self-compassion is an approach that helps you become the best you can by looking after number one, and focusing on your self-image instead of what other people think about you. Chances are that you are not happy with plenty of things in your life, but if you focus on what you are doing right, you can find a helpful solution.

3.   Goals and Achievements

Once you have learned self-compassion, you have to list your goals and achievements. Think about what you have done well in your life and acknowledge your personal strengths. To develop yourself further, you could set yourself SMART goals. They are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-relevant. This will help you stay focused on your long term goals, whether they are related to your career, personal life, or your appearance.

4.   Congratulate Yourself

Once you have achieved a goal, you need to congratulate yourself. You can set yourself a reward for completing each task or achieving the goal, depending on what works the best for you. If you happen to be a maximalist, you need to learn to settle for “good enough” instead of perfect all of the time. Even if other people don’t acknowledge your achievements, you have to look after your confidence and emotional balance, by congratulating yourself. You might even print off some motivational certificates and display them on your wall whenever you achieve a new goal.

5.   Changing What You Can

Sometimes we have problems with our behavior, emotions, or appearance that impacts our whole life. If this is the case, you should seek professional help. Counseling can aid your self-discovery, and help you find the reasons why you have low confidence. If you can fix the issue, you should. Some women benefit from breast augmentation and feel better and more confident in their skin, while others opt for exercise or skin treatments. Find what you want to change and start actively seeking the solution.

Should the surgical route be the one you wish to take, then that is perfectly okay! There is nothing wrong with opting for plastic surgery as long as you are safe about it. The most important thing you can do is find an excellent surgeon and it can be helpful to schedule a few consultations at different practices. To get started simply enter a search for “Top Breast Augmentation Experts Philadelphia” (or your local area) and shop around to find the best fit for you and your needs. Your safety and comfort are paramount so do not settle for anything less than the best.

6.   Managing Your Frustrations

It is important to deal with your frustrations. If you don’t feel good about how the dress looks on you or would like to improve your mental health by learning to accept yourself, you can change how you feel. While it is important to better yourself, sometimes you are too critical with yourself. Ask for feedback from your friends and family members to find out whether or not your assumptions are founded on facts or your imagination. You might feel like you are not looking your best, while most of your friends will be jealous of your style.

7.   Focusing Less on Impressing Others

It is important that you learn to realistically assess your looks and behavior, and not try to impress others with everything you do. Simply put, you should do what makes you happy, instead of what impresses others. Likewise, wear what you feel good and confident in. If you’re not checking the feedback from others every minute, you can focus on developing yourself. There are several methods to help you achieve a higher confidence level and doing your own thing instead of fearing criticism. Tell yourself that if someone doesn’t like you it is their problem, and don’t try to be friends with everyone.

8.   Daring Not to Fit In

If you feel better having tattoos and piercings, do so. In some lines of work this is a taboo, but if it fits in with your career choices, nobody should tell you what not to do. Some people wear purple or blue hair with confidence and are happy that they can express themselves. If you talk a different way than others, have a unique humor, or are a “new type of weird”, don’t be ashamed; be proud of who you are. Whatever makes you feel good in your skin is allowed. If you can express who you are by how you speak, act, and dress, take the opportunity, and you’ll find that many people will find you unique and interesting.

Being confident and feeling good in your skin is an ultimate way of becoming a happy person. You should ignore the negative inner voices and criticism. Dare to be yourself, and express your personality. Use positive affirmations and learn self-compassion. Accept your limitations, but make changes that increases your confidence and well-being. People who have a good relationship with themselves are more likely to have true friends and meaningful relationships with others.

Feel Better, Look Better

Feel Better, Look Better

We all have this obsession with wanting to look perfect. We want to have that killer body, with those pearly whites, and flawless skin. But have you ever thought that in order to achieve those things, you need to ensure that you’re healthy and well on the inside? The healthier that you are, the better you will not only feel, but look too. Ever heard of that saying “my body is my temple”? Well everyone should think this way about themselves – you should worship it and want to do all that you can in order to be better.

Rather than focusing so much on how that girl’s body looks on Instagram and how she got her hair to look that shiny – think about how you can make yourself feel good. One of the biggest mistakes that every woman (and man) can make, is to compare themselves to others. Especially when it comes to a photograph. You need to realize that things aren’t all that real anymore. Those models you see in the magazines – they’ve been picked apart and had all their ‘bad’ areas photoshopped. That means no more cellulite, stretch marks, freckles, scars, or spots. So you can’t possibly compare yourself to that. Even Instagram nowadays is hard to decipher what is real and what isn’t, as there are so many filters and edits that are made within a mere few clicks of a button on a phone – you just can’t win. So put all of that attention into focusing on yourself – you haven’t got time to waste on negative thoughts.

Strengthen your mind:

You may think that improvements are to be made on your appearance, but the first place that you should be giving some love to is your mind. This is the place where all of your thoughts and feelings come from. So you know when you look in a mirror and hear those nagging voices in the back of your mind that tell you you’re not good enough? That all comes from your brain, so you need to work on changing your perception of things. One trick to doing this is telling yourself that you’re beautiful every single day. Out loud. It doesn’t matter if you feel silly. Stand up tall, look at yourself, and declare your beauty. It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe it yet – you will. Say one beautiful thing about yourself, but this doesn’t necessarily mean in terms of your looks. Think more about your traits and qualities. “I am beautiful because I’m kind.” “I am beautiful because I’m compassionate.” These reinforce the whole meaning of what beauty really is.

Give your body what it needs:

Your body needs certain nutrients and vitamins in order for it to function to the best of its ability. You should feel energized and, well, not tired and moody. All of these things are affected by what you put inside your body. Every different vitamin provides you with an essential source. This is why supplements are a good idea for people that are on the go a lot, because they don’t have to worry about not getting exactly what they need if it’s all there in a capsule, instead. KetoMCT is very good at fueling your brain and keeping it focused and alert, as well as supporting your weight management and boosting your immune system. All of these things are vital if you want to live a healthy life. Another trick that you can do is to eat as much of a colored variety of fruits and vegetables as you possibly can. The bigger the array, the more selection of goodness you are making available to your body.

Keep yourself in shape:

If you have noticed that you’ve gained some extra pounds and you aren’t happy about it, then it’s simple – do something about it. One of the biggest things to battle is laziness. We all suffer from it at one time or another, and finding the motivation to fight it can be very difficult. But, this is where you need to start being strict with yourself. If you expect to see a difference, then you need to put in the work. There are plenty of great exercises out there that you can do that are easy, and don’t necessarily require you to go to the gym. If you like the water, then swimming is a great workout, especially if you are a little heavier, because water makes you weightless, as opposed to if you were running. This is why it is so great for practicing mobility without the worry of straining yourself or causing an injury. Then as soon as you feel ready to push further – add some weights to the mix for added resistance.

Support one another:

Us girls need to stick together, not hate on one another. So spread the love and all of that positive energy that you know you have within you. Go out with your girlfriends, shop together, and give each other some tips to update your style a little. Let’s face it, shopping is a lot more fun when it’s done with your besties. Make a whole day of it and put on a fashion show with tons of different looks that you have all picked out. You may learn a lot about yourself that you would have never known if you hadn’t have tried on that weird frilly dress that looked gross on the hanger, but ends up making you look like a true woman. Then, after your long shopping spree, you can hit the fancy restaurant in your just-bought outfit and enjoy your new found confidence thanks to the awesome company you have around you.

Now, of course, you can’t expect things to miraculously change overnight. But with a little bit of patience and persistence, you will have a brighter outlook on yourself – and for good reason!
