Hand Mask Hullabaloo: Lush’s Golden Handshake Edition

Helloooo and happy Hump Day! In this post, we will be talking about my last birthday goodie from Lush, a hand mask called Golden Handshake. Before my darling friend, Kate, gifted me with this, I had no idea that hand masks even existed – but here we are now! I really enjoyed using this product and, what’s even better, is that I got to pamper my mom with it, too. Take a look and let’s discuss:

handhand2hand3

To use the Golden Handshake hand mask, you boiled water and then swirled the product around in it until it melted and changed the H2O consistency into rich, creamy lusciousness. I used a baking pan for my concoction, which was a good move because it was big enough for both mine and my mom’s hands. It was initially a long process to get the mask to melt, so we opted to break it apart, which helped speed it up immensely.

From getting Golden Handshake ready for use to applying it and letting it sit was a totally unique and indulgent pampering experience. First, I loved the way that this product smelled. It had a rich, nutty aroma to it, which is one of my favorite scents for bath products. I also thought that the light dusting of gold glitter was a lovely touch! And, most importantly, Golden Handshake felt so soothing on my hands and left them feeling soft and moisturized. They still feel as smooth as ever even after my shower and multiple hand washes.

Another nice thing about this hand mask is that it’s reusable. My mom and I poured the water through a sieve so that we could catch the chunks of product before it went down the drain. We then put the remainders of the mask in a little container and let it harden in the refrigerator so that we can use it again during our next pampering session. I can’t wait!

What is your favorite way to pamper yourself? Have you ever used a hand mask before? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Signs You Might Struggle To Get Pregnant

Signs You Might Struggle To Get Pregnant

So, you’ve started to get broody for a baby. You’ve been trying for a while now and you still haven’t gotten the result that you long for. It could be that it’s just taking a while for things to get going, but since around 10 percent of the female population struggle to conceive, it could be something more.

To find out for sure whether you might struggle to get pregnant, you need to see a fertility doctor as soon as possible but, in the meantime, here are some signs that you could find it hard to conceive:

You’re Over 35:

These days, more of us are waiting way longer to get pregnant, with many women not even trying until their mid to late 30s. Most of the time, this will not cause too many problems, but it is worth noting that once you’re over 35 its could take you longer to conceive, with the average being six months. If you haven’t been able to conceive after a year of regular sex, it could indicate a fertility problem and you will need to get yourself checked out.

There’s No Sign of a Baby Despite Regular Timed Sex:

If you use ovulation kits to calculate when you’re most fertile, you have sex during those times, and there are no signs of a pregnancy after a few months, it’s probably a good idea to have yourself evaluated by the professionals. Click this link to find out more about fertility treatments, and remember that men and women should be tested because 30 percent of cases are down to the male factor. It could be that things are just taking a bit longer to happen for you, but it’s worth finding out so you don’t waste any more time, especially if you are over 35.

You’re Overweight:

If you’re overweight, then it could be impacting your fertility. Not only does excess weight make it harder, but it can be dangerous for mother and baby if you are successful with things like gestational diabetes being more likely to occur. If you’re worried about this, seeing your gyno is a good idea, as is eating a clean diet and hitting the gym a few times a week if you want to boost your chances. It might take some hard work, but it will definitely be worth it in the end.

Previous Miscarriages:

Miscarriages are more common than you might think, but if you’ve had more than three losses, you should think about seeing an infertility specialist to check that there is nothing medically wrong that could prevent you from seeing a pregnancy through. Many women are scared to do this because they don’t want their hopes to be taken away, but in many cases, there are medical interventions that will help, and if that isn’t possible, you can always click here to find out more about the possibility of surrogacy. There are more options available to you than you might think, but you need to know where you stand before you can make any decisions about them.

You Have a Feeling:

Yes, sometimes feelings can be way off the mark, but if you have an inner-voice that’s telling you that you may possibly have some fertility problems that are preventing you from getting pregnant, and you simply cannot shake those feelings no matter how hard you try, it could be that there is something in it. Us women are highly connected to our bodies and even if we don’t realize it on an intellectual level, intuitively we often know when something is wrong. So, if you feel like something is wrong, see a fertility specialist and don’t feel bad about doing so. If your instincts are correct, your specialist can begin recommending options like prp treatment for fertility, IVF, or ovulation induction.

Feelings usually have some truth to them.

If you’re connected with your body, you know what it takes to conceive and you live a healthy lifestyle, chances are it will happen for you eventually, but it’s always worth ruling out illnesses and issues that could be preventing you from getting pregnant just in case.

Sweet Birthday Surprises

Sweet Birthday Surprises

Hi everyone! My 24th birthday was exactly one week ago as of today. I still have yet to write a birthday haul post because of late arriving gifts from my siblings, but I did receive some really sweet surprises from my parents on my big day. Take a look:

24241242243

When I woke up on my big day, I was surprised with a freshly picked bouquet from my dad’s garden. I don’t know what the vibrant purple flowers are, but they sure are pretty! And then, even though I told my mom no birthday cake, she brought home a vanilla torte with a layer of strawberry filling that was to die for. I’m really not a huge fan of any type of cake, but this one with the white chocolate shavings and buttercream frosting was the exception! So delicious!

Flowers and cake might be the norm on one’s birthday, but being treated to such beautiful surprises never gets old! I had a wonderful birthday filled with my favorite people, food, and PRESENTS!! 😀

How do you like to celebrate a loved one’s birthday? What is your favorite thing to gift someone with? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Do Right By Your Kids With These Parenting Hacks

Do Right By Your Kids With These Parenting Hacks

Being a parent is not easy, and you need to make sure that you do what you can to raise your kids to the best of your ability. There are a lot of considerations to make, and you need to figure out what is involved in the process of improving things for the kids. These are some of the key ideas that you might want to bear in mind that will help you do what’s best for them moving forward:

Keep Them Safe:

The biggest concern that so many parents have these days is whether or not their children are safe. This is something that all of us worry about at one time or another, but we can influence this in some way, as well. The best thing to do is to make sure that you take the steps to ensure that your child is being looked after properly. Choose the safest childcare options, make sure they know their address and phone number, and that they learn not to talk to strangers. Keeping your children safe is such a big concern as a parent, so the more that you can do to achieve it, the better.

Make Sure They’re Well Educated:

Education is so important, because it gives your kids opportunities and opens more doors in the future. Consider what is involved in your child’s education, and how you can improve these prospects as much as possible. Primary school kids need to learn their times tables, they need to be asking what is a composition? And they need to know about electricity and gravity, and all of those important things. So, do be sure you’re helping them study and keeping them on track at home.

Look After Their Future:

You need to do as much as possible to look after your kids’ future financially. You need to have money to help support them as they get older, and that means taking the time to start saving and being more financially sound as a family. Preparing for the future is so important and can help you do a lot to improve your financial situation as long as you are careful.

Don’t Overparent:

So many parents make the mistake of overparenting their kids, and this can be a negative thing. You don’t want to be smothering your child and not allowing them to experience new things because, otherwise, they will not develop properly and will not be involved outside of home as much as they should. You have to work on being the best parent you possibly can be, and this involves giving your kids space to make their own mistakes.

If you can follow these parenting hacks, you will be well placed to make sure that you do right by your kids as much as you can. It’s important to look after their future and help them to grow and develop as people. And you can do so much to achieve that, including looking after their education and financial futures.

Two Sleepy Doggies

Two Sleepy Doggies

Howdy and TGIF! Monday is my long day at work, and by the time that I get home, all I want to do is get in my jammies, put my dogs up, and watch The Voice with my mom. Normally, my two rescue pups, Gem and Ollie, just want to play all day until everyone else goes to bed, but they must have been just as tired (Or bored with The Voice!) as I was, because they ended up falling fast asleep on the bed with my mom and I. It was so cute I could hardly stand it and I just have to share these Two Sleepy Doggies with all of you:

sleepypupssleepypups1sleepypups2

Lol, so the first picture of Gem is more for me because I think it’s hilarious. But, the other one of her and my little Ollie is just cuteness overload. My dogs are honestly the most perfect creatures on the planet and I love them oh so much. To have them curled up and snoozing away while my mom and I watched a crappy singing contest was the best way to end a long, hard day and it was just what I needed before I went to bed, myself.

How do your pets greet you after a long day? Who are you rooting for on The Voice? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Mother’s Day Bouquets

Mother’s Day Bouquets

Hi everyone and happy late Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful moms, pet moms, and soon to be moms out there! You are all amazing and thank you for everything that you do – especially my mom! 😉 As a flower loving family, beautiful bouquets were the only way to go this Mother’s Day. Check out these gorgeous blooms and let’s discuss:

mothersmothers1mothers2mothers3

The lavender bouquet seen first is compliments of my dad. He created his gift fresh from the lavender bush (Or tree?!) that he planted in our backyard. They smell divine and the pale purple color is spectacular. My dad planted his lavender when it was just a tiny sprig and now it is a huge, blossoming tree. It looks awesome and will definitely supply us with more bouquets all summer long.

The day lilies and vase are compliments of yours truly. My mom loves lilies and so I thought that they were the perfect flower for her gift from me. I love the dazzling orange and it looks striking against the Air Force blue vase. The butterfly and dragonfly adorned vessel was the last of its kind at the store and I can see why! I think that it is so pretty and I knew that it was something that my mom would love because the simple country style decor is her favorite. And, of course I was right!

We had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration at my place and I hope that all of you did, too! How did you celebrate Mother’s Day? What is your favorite thing about your mom? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Adorable Cuteness Overload

Adorable Cuteness Overload

Hi everyone!! So the other morning I wake up and my dad tells me “make sure you take a picture of what I did on the kitchen table”. So, in other words, I heard “make sure you put it on your blog”. Lol, my dad set up a little surprise shrine for my mom, who is going through some intense medical treatment, to wake up to:

cute

Before even stepping into the kitchen, I could smell the beautiful hyacinths from our front yard. My dad also included lovely daffodil sprigs in his tiny bouquet. Not only did he pick flowers special for my mom, but he upped the ante with a hello from a cute dog and “Dave The Gnome“, who he was gifted with by JANE herself.

I often write about how my mom will surprise me with fashion related gifts like accessories or clothing and it’s always such a delight. So, it was sweet to see my dad muster up a surprise of his own to help start my mom’s day with a smile. To spread the love even more, CHARLES told me to send the picture of his creation to my sister, too. So cute.

Later in the morning, I heard my mom tell my dad how much she liked her surprise and he replied with “Oh, yeah – I made it for Gem”. (My dog. Massive eye roll!!) The Adorable Cuteness Overload was nice while it lasted! 😀

How do you like to surprise your loved ones? What is the best surprise that you have received? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Scarf Series: Knitted With Love Edition

Scarf Series: Knitted With Love Edition

Hi everyone and happy Hump Day! This is a special edition of my Scarf Series, because the one that I’m discussing today is one of a kind. My newest scarf was handmade by my mom! Despite my mom having no artistic talent in regards to drawing or painting, her creativity shines through in a different manner. She is an expert in her craft of bread baking and always uses the phrase “kneaded with love” so Knitted With Love only seemed like an appropriate title for this post. Take a look:

knitknit2

Literally no one in my family even knew that my mom knows how to knit until last month when she had a stay in the hospital. The lovely JANE decided that she would like to spend some of her time there knitting, so we took a trip to the absolutely darling Harps & Thistles Yarn Emporium to pick out some materials for her to work with.

At first, I was ambivalent about my mom making me a scarf, because I already have so many and my sister specifically said that she wanted one, so I wanted my mom to focus on that, instead. But then, my mom and I laid eyes on the gorgeous mustard yellow tweed yarn that you can see above. It was the perfect shabby chic, collegiate cool palette and my prior sentiments of “you don’t have to make me a scarf if you don’t want to” instantly turned to “can you PLEASE make me a scarf?!”.

While my mom was away, it was always so exciting to get a text or hear her say on video chat that she was working on my scarf. And when she finally returned home, which was amazing in itself, it was made even more special to see the fruits of her labor for her two girls with a rose pink and mustard yellow scarf. It hasn’t been cold enough in Ohio to wear scarves, any more (Which is great!), but I did get to wear my home made scarf one time and I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to get more use of it next winter!!

What is your favorite craft to do? Did someone teach you how or were you self taught? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Hello! Today is a special day, because it is my beautiful, amazing, wonderful mother’s birthday. Saying that my mom is my best friend is a severe understatement. I don’t know what is better than a best friend, but that’s what she is. She is my confidant, my TJMaxx partner in crime, and my viewing buddy for Ellen DeGeneres, The Voice, and America’s Next Top Model.

Although my mom and I love being women on the go, I love being able to just hang out and enjoy our lunch or dinner together when one of us isn’t working. It’s such a treat to sit down and chat while sharing a meal or one of her to die for grilled cheeses on her homemade bread. YUM.

Through simple pleasures and sweet surprises, my mom brings so much joy to my life. I literally can’t look at her without smiling. Every day, my mom teaches me something new about physical and emotional fortitude, kindness, and just taking life one step at a time. Through both good days and bad, JANE radiates positivity wherever she goes, and I think that anyone can take a page out of that book.

To the best mom and friend in the world, we raise our Margarita glasses to you!

Happy Birthday, Mom! ❤

(And shout out to the man in the blue shirt on the far right who has no relation whatsoever to my family. Best photobomb ever.)

Movie Memories: The Devil Wears Prada

Movie Memories: The Devil Wears Prada

Hellooo! One of my all time favorite chick flicks is easily The Devil Wears Prada. Starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, and designer clothing – this movie never gets old. In fact, I have this condition where I have to watch TDWP every time it’s on TV – which is fairly frequently!

Last week, my mom and I were able to snuggle up and watch The Devil Wears Prada together and it brought back such a happy memory. When this movie first came out, my mom, sister, grandma, and I all went to see an afternoon showing at the theaters together. It was such a fun day with just us gals and I can remember so vividly laughing in the theater and discussing which outfits we wanted as we walked out with the credits rolling.

Every time I see even snippets of The Devil Wears Prada, my mind always goes back to that day and the joy of spending time together at a matinee. As my mom and I watched the movie a few days ago and had the same conversations of “I want that, that, and that” that we have every time, it was impossible not to think of us four girls walking arm and arm out of the theater and gabbing about the exact same thing.

My grandma has since passed away, but she will always be one of the most well dressed women that I have ever known. Of course, who wouldn’t want to emulate the style of post make over Andy and Emily in The Devil Wears Prada? But, if I can channel my grandma’s classic fashion sense in my daily looks, I think that I’ll be doing just fine!

Which movies bring back happy memories for you? What is one of your must watch movies whenever it airs on TV? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
