Hi! There is a special place in heaven called the Rainbow Bridge where all of our beloved pets go when they pass. It is a beautiful place where the weather is warm, treats are plentiful, and the playing and romping amongst our sweet companions never ends. I know that all of my family’s fallen angel dogs are enjoying their time making new friends and spending joyous days in the sun while they eagerly await the time when we are reunited again.
And, I know for a fact that my family’s beloved Golden Retriever, Gem, who passed away on July 11th is having a ball. Here’s how I know:
While driving to one of my client’s houses the day after Gem crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I was behind a license plate with her name right on it: GEM and then some numbers. Shortly after, I was behind another car with a bumper sticker that read: “Paws and enjoy life”. Which is quite the coincidence considering all of our pets are buried at a cemetery called Paws Awhile.
I just know that this was my sweet girl saying hello to me and that she was safe, happy, and no longer suffering. My mom and dad also got a similar greeting from her when they drove past a bumper sticker the day of Gem’s passing with the slogan “Golden Retrievers make me happy”. And, later on in the day at the grocery store, my dad was rung out by a young man named Rusty which just so happens to be the name of the Golden we had before Gem. So, it’s safe to say that she has already met her brother.
My family and I are heartbroken by the loss of our Gem but we are so happy to know that she’s okay and I have a feeling she’ll be popping by frequently to check in on us. It’s not the same as petting her soft fur and getting a great big doggie kiss from her but, it will do until we meet again. ❤
Do you have any stories similar to mine about a beloved pet or person that has passed? What kind of pets do you have at home? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Weddings are truly busy and stressful, considering what the couple has to go through just to make sure that one special day goes smoothly. But after all that is done and the vows have been accepted, you as a couple deserve to have your own time and moments together to enjoy the finer things in life as husband and wife. Sure, there’s the mandatory honeymoon, but there’s much more you can do that will surely help your mind and body recover from all the stress and strain of wedding preparations:
Relax and Unwind:
It goes without saying that you need to rest your body first since you have a whole life ahead of you. All that time and effort looking for suppliers and managing the event to make sure that it all goes well can give you a lot of stress. After the wedding is your opportunity to enjoy your well-deserved relaxation time.
There are many possibilities on what you can do, such as get a facial treatment in Manila, go to a beach or resort, or go enjoy the beauty of nature by hiking or mountain climbing. These will surely help you to relax and enjoy quality time with your new spouse.
Reap the Benefits:
One of the things that you’ll get from your wedding is gifts and lots of them. These presents are oftentimes given to help the bride and groom with their start on married life. Home appliances are common choices and are very helpful because you won’t need to go shopping for them.
Some people also gift their newly married friends and relatives with discount vouchers or tickets for them to use on a cruise or a fancy restaurant. Don’t hesitate to use them, especially if they have expiration dates. These presents are meant for you to enjoy and use to your advantage as the married life will present you with new challenges every single day.
Go on Get-Togethers:
You’ve only just accomplished a monumental event in your life that was full of hectic plans and schedules, so you may think that it’s best not to go out for a while. However, your family and friends are still part of your life, and you’ll need all the help you can get from them. The occasional get-together will be good for letting them know how well you’re doing after the nuptials as well as strengthen the bond between in-laws. You can do it either at home or in places such as restaurants or hotels.
Living the married life will surely put a lot on your plate, may it be good or bad. But what’s important is for you to focus on what’s positive and expect to face the bad times together with your partner. Your relationship doesn’t end once the wedding day is over; instead, it’s the start of a lifelong journey with the best partner in life you’ll ever have. So, take the time to relish that moment and unwind!
Hiii everyone and welcome to the viewing of the rest of the pics taken for me by my dear friend, Markus! I really am in love with these photos and I feel like they captured both the essence of myself and lifewithlilred perfectly. Him and I definitely plan on taking more pictures together soon so be on the lookout for them! But, for now, check the rest of these out:
Who? What? Wear?
For the more beauty related photos that Markus took for his school project, I went with an OOTD that was a little sweeter. And, nothing says sweet to me more than gorgeous florals like the pattern in my True Destiny top. I got this shirt from TJ’s about a half a year ago and I love it so much. The colors are bright and the structured torso against the over the top puffy sleeves create a lot of visual interest. Normally, I am not a huge flower girl, but this shirt definitely made me change my mind about that!
But, because Lil Red is an edgy gal, I had to pepper a little spice into the look with my faux leather skinnies by Blank NYC. And, for some extra sassafras, the “Blah, blah, blah” word bubble heels a la Lust For Life were a must. I am obsessed with these message heels and have three pairs but I thought the blue ones would be nice with the colorful palette on top. I topped this look off with a hat from my brother and sister in law for Christmas and I was camera ready. 😀
How do you add edginess to your OOTDs? How would you describe your style? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Howdy! As you all can tell, I have been reading a lot lately. There is nothing better than diving into a good book and I am currently hunkering down with The Innocent Client every chance I can get! With all of this reading, a super cute book mark is a must and the one that I’m using never ceases to make me smile, because there’s an adorable story behind it. Take a look and I’ll tell you all about it:
On the second day out from my surgery gone wrong in December, I wanted nothing more than some ice cream from the parlor down the street, Handel’s. Their ice cream is delicious with a variety of flavors to pick from and I knew that it would feel so good on my aching mouth. I decided that I wanted the Peppermint Stick ice cream and my dad left to get it for me. But, I almost instantly changed my mind as soon as he departed and realized I wanted chocolate, instead, because I was really miserable.
The catch, is that my dad doesn’t have a cell phone so there was no way he would know that the Peppermint Stick was a no go. So, in my pain pill induced stupor, I called Handel’s and let them know the dire situation at hand. I described my dad’s appearance and my desperate need for chocolate and they said that they would pass the memo along. They probably thought that I was crazy, but I was proud to have handled my needs because I was super out of it.
I eagerly awaited my ice cream and when my dad returned home, he said that the container was already waiting there for him and he just had to pay. When I opened the bag up, I saw the darling handwritten note seen above and I was tickled. It was so sweet and I needed that, because I was hurting so badly.
I kept the note on my bedside table and it has become the perfect book mark during my reading extravaganzas. It doesn’t take much to make someone smile and, little does the employee who helped me know, she makes me smile every day!
How have you made someone smile today? What is your favorite ice cream flavor? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Hello! My parents are seriously one of the cutest couples on the planet, and they always seem to be doing something sweet for each other. Just this past week, for example, my dad brought home the gorgeous tulips seen below for my mom to bring a little spring to her step despite the insane snowfall our neck of the woods was hit with. He also used a Precious Moments advertisement in the Parade magazine to make the most precious thing I’ve ever seen. Check it out:
Every year, my dad plans an amazing summer family vacation. And, after my mom had read several books set at charming beach locations, she decided that the sea was the place to be. Coincidentally, my dad was thinking the same thing after many trips to the mountainous North Carolina region. So, he chose Hilton Head for the very first Mushenheim family beach vacation.
Shortly after this decision was made, I saw the Precious Moments ad hanging on our refrigerator with some adjustments to it in my dad’s handwriting. It was basically the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen and I think my mom agrees, because it has been displayed ever since. This, on top of the lovely bouquet that my dad bought for her is more adorable than I can bear and, needless to say, my parents are definitely #relationshipgoals!
What is something sweet that your significant other has done for you? What are your #relationshipgoals? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Hiiii everyone! We interrupt today’s scheduled post on the Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions palette to report some Warm Fuzzies bestowed onto Lil Red compliments of my beloved mother. As you guys know, I had some major surgery complications this past month and was a hot mess express for basically all of December. I was in a lot of pain and I’m just now feeling like I’m on the mend.
During the first day of my upswing, I spent it watching TV and reading in a big comfy armchair in my living room instead of being cooped up in my bed too groggy to move. My mom was home from work that day and sat on the futon next to me to fold some laundry.
While she was going through the clean clothes, I noticed a new towel that she scored through a JCPenny or Kohl’s Cash coupon FO FREE (A classic mom trick!). I had used that towel a few days ago after struggling through a shower and told her that it was nice and soft and that I liked the color, a dark heather grey. She told me that she liked it too and that I should have it in my bathroom.
When I woke up the next morning, this is what I noticed on my towel rack:
I am in the worst pain of the day when I wake up and going into my bathroom and seeing the soft towel waiting for me made my misery slightly more tolerable. I was so touched by such a simple gesture and it can really only be described as the Warm Fuzzies. I love sweet little somethings like this so much and, despite hurting so badly, it made me happy. Moms always seem to know just what to do, even in the worst of times and I think my mom knew that one extra warm hug is just what I needed that day. ❤
What is something that gives you the Warm Fuzzies? How do you show kindness in simple ways? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Hello! As you guys know, I recently had my wisdom teeth removed and it sucked on ice. The operation was done on a Friday morning and I had to go back to work on Monday. I was in a lot of pain and, unfortunately, I still am as I type this now. But, thanks to one of my amazing clients, I was able to perk up a little because of some Super Sweet Surprises! Take a look:
Because I was hurting so badly, my client and her family decided that it was the perfect day to give me my Christmas gift, even though it was fifteen days early! They treated me to:
- A festive headband
- Holiday nail files
- Mini liquor bottles
- Three sets of holiday earrings
- Three sets of fuzzy socks infused with aloe
- A gorgeous homemade scarf
When I first received my present, I was honestly just blown away by how cute the packaging itself was. My client’s mom showed it to me and said that I could take it home, but I had to put it under my tree and wait until Christmas day to open it. I begrudgingly said “okay” and had every intention of taking it home and (in)patiently waiting until December 25th to open it.
But, about a half hour before I had to leave, everyone insisted on me opening the gift to help cheer me up for the rest of my work day. It was one of the sweetest things that I’ve experienced in a good long while. Each gift that I opened was just as good as the last and I was so touched by their generosity. Giving me a holiday gift is something that I would never expect of any of my families so, when it happens, I feel so spoiled rotten.
The cherry on top of the prezzie tower ironically came from the bottom box – the divine scarf that my client’s mom crocheted for me. Her color palette was on point and the detailing was simply marvelous. I was so moved that she took the time to create such beauty for me and the kindness that was shown to me that day definitely made the rest of my work day wonderful, despite any pain that I was in. So, I would say that their mission was accomplished! ❤
Have you experienced any Super Sweet Surprises lately? What is your favorite kind of gift to home make? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
