Little Ladybug Friend

Little Ladybug Friend

Hey everyone and happy weekend! The little things in life are what makes me the most happy. Whether it be a tiny flower blooming in my yard, a sunshiney day, or a little ladybug saying hello to me – I love it all. On Tuesday, while I was watching my guilty pleasure of America’s Next Top Model, a ladybug that managed to get into the house kept me company the entire time:

I honestly can’t believe I didn’t squish the poor little guy, because he was crawling on the floor dangerously close to where I do my nightly crunches. I didn’t even notice that he was there until I sat up! For a little while, the ladybug would crawl on my fingers and hand and then fly away. Then, a few minutes later, I would find the tiny spot of red crawling about on the floor again.

A few times, I tried to deposit him onto one of our potted plants, but he managed to come back to my general vicinity each time. Maybe he was attracted to my hair?! Either way, it was sure nice to have a little buddy to enjoy Tyra Banks in all of her glory with me. 🙂

Who else is an America’s Next Top Model fan? What is your favorite type of insect? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Christmas Surprise Pt. 3

Christmas Surprise Pt. 3

Hey! For as long as I can remember, my BFF Lea and I have exchanged presents for Christmas. Earlier this week, we had our annual best friend jamboree, where we gave each other our prezzies, drank wine, and had hella girl talk all while lounging on my basement futon. It was a blast! Lea and I love to shop for each other, and this year, she knocked it out of the park with my gifts. Take a look:

The Haul:

  • A bottle of wine (Already used!)
  • An elephant tealight holder
  • A minion ornament!!!
  • Bath and body goodies (Bath salts, lotion, and a scrub)

Lea knows me all too well, because I seriously loved everything that was in my gift bag. Wine is a must, and we shared the bottle together during our afternoon hangout (“It’s five o’clock somewhere”!). I love knick knacks so the gorgeous elephant candle holder and minion ornament were perfect. And, what girl doesn’t love bath and body products?! I’m always looking to add to my B&B care hoard, so it was great to put some extra goodies in my stash.

Even if Lea and I hang out once a month or once a week, depending on our schedules, we always pick up right where we left off. She really is the best friend a girl could ask for and we will be going on ten years of BFFhood in the new year. I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!! :*)

How do you and your BFF celebrate the holidays? Is your best friend easy or hard to shop for? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Christmas Surprise Pt. 2

Christmas Surprise Pt. 2

Hey! Someone who is very dear to me is my neighbor, Alice. After years of living next door to her, we have recently become close and I revel in our almost weekly coffee dates at her place. About a month ago, we ventured to the darling Two Cafe in Solon, Ohio for lunch and had a total blast. Not only is Two a cafe but it’s also a boutique with the most beautiful handcrafted items for sale.

Included in the boutique section of Two was a little red ice skate that we both agreed was made for me, as a former Lil Red skater girl. During our gift exchange, I learned that Alice made the almost forty minute drive back to Two to get me the skate decoration for Christmas. Take a look:

Besides for absolutely LOVING this gift and how adorable it is, I love the thought behind it the most. Alice literally saved this in her archives as my Christmas gift and made a special trip to get it just for me. That’s better than any gift that I could ever receive. I value my neighborly friendship so much, and her care and beautiful thoughts behind this present are something that I will never forget!

What is one of the most thoughtful gifts that you have ever received? How do you put special thoughts into your gift buying? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Estee Lauder “Candy” Lipstick Swatch

Estee Lauder “Candy” Lipstick Swatch

Howdy! Over Thanksgiving, my sister brought me a lipstick that she didn’t want by Estee Lauder. My sister, Kristen, is far more adventurous than I am with makeup, so it’s always fun when she brings me some of her rejects to try, because I would never buy it for myself. I’m not sure if I would ever use this sparkly, purple-pink shade, but it sure is pretty! Take a look:

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not huge on pink lipstick. However, I liked that this shade seemed to have a more purple base to it, which made the pink not so overpowering. And, what girl doesn’t love a bit of sparkle when it comes to makeup? I loved the red L’Oreal lipstick that I got a while back ago with glitter in it, so I figured that it was worth it to give this Candy color a shot, even if it is a bit out of my comfort zone.

This shade is one that I can’t picture myself wearing around on a daily basis. I feel like I need just the right outfit to pull this color off and I can see myself wearing it with something navy blue or even an oversized flannel to glam up a tomboy look. I think that I’m going to test drive it with one of my favorite navy blue peacoats from ModCloth and we’ll see what happens! Fingers crossed!

What is a lipstick color that would push you out of your comfort zone? How would you incorporate this Estee Lauder shade into your makeup routine? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Tokyo A Go Go Treats

Tokyo A Go Go Treats

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday! This past weekend, my brother and sister in law came up for a visit from Atlanta, Georgia. My sister in law, Megan was recently in Tokyo, Japan for work and my brother, Peter, flew out to spend some time with her there. In my family, having a sibling that recently traveled means viewing lots of pictures, listening to stories, and PRESENTS! Take a looksee at what Peter and Megan gifted me with all the way from Tokyo and let’s discuss:

^^^ In case you can’t tell, the pictures above showcase a lovely little coin purse and folded fan a la Japan! 😉

I am so obsessed with my new coin purse it isn’t even funny. I have been using the same old change purse (A freebie from Victoria’s Secret.) for literal years, but would never buy a new one for myself.

  1. I like my old one well enough.
  2. It was free.
  3. Is a new one really necessary?

So obviously, I was really excited to be gifted with a new one, because the chances of me purchasing or even thinking of looking for a new coin purse were slim to none. I love the bright colors, the slightly different front and back, and the separator in the bag. I keep little trinkets that make me smile in my coin purse, so now I can have one side for those and one side for my change without mixing the two up and handing a cashier a cute, heart shaped button. Great success!

And, of course, I love my new fan. I have wanted a folded fan like this for forever, because I am extra enough to keep one in my bag and whip it out when I’m in a stuffy location. Now that I finally have a fan to do this with, it definitely sucks that winter is coming in hot on the horizon – because that’s the only thing warm about Ohio right now. However, I am SUPER happy about this beautiful, traditional prezzie and I can’t wait for when the day comes that I can take it out of my bag and start fanning myself in public!

Even though presents are nice, they are certainly not necessary. This is why I am always so excited to be gifted with something, because I was thought of enough for the gifter to make the purchase. Peter and Megan were spot on with the treasures that they bought for me and it gave me all the warm fuzzies. Not to mention that it was a total blast hanging out with them this weekend! :*)

So there you have it, some Tokyo A Go Go Treats! Which locations are on your travel bucket list? How do you preserve memories while you’re traveling? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Easy Peasy Scarecrow Costume Makeup

Easy Peasy Scarecrow Costume Makeup

Hi everyone and welcome to a simple and sweet scarecrow costume makeup tutorial compliments of my friend, Sarrah, from Vegan From Mars. Sarrah created this look special for the readers of my Halloween Heaven guest bloggers series who are in need of a fast and cost friendly costume. So grab your blue jeans, a huge flannel, and braid your hair and follow this step by step guide to becoming the most adorable scarecrow at the Halloween party that starts in two hours!

Easy Peasy Scarecrow Costume Makeup

Hello friends! Halloween is upon us and it’s time to get creative. I’ve come up with this super cute scarecrow makeup look for those who want to keep it simple or are not the most skilled with a makeup brush. It’s insanely easy – just five steps! And the best part? You can complete this look with the makeup that you already have in your collection (I only had to buy one product!).

Step By Step:

Step 1: Do your makeup how you normally would. For me, that means a tiny winged eyeliner, some mascara, and the lightest of all light contours. Now you’re ready to get spooky-cute!

Step 2: Start by smiling. That’s right, look right in the mirror and give yourself a big smile. You see the cute apples of your cheeks? You’re going to draw big orange circles right there. I used a light orange from my Wet N’ Wild “Brights” paint palette to get the shape down. Then, I went over it with the Wet N’ Wild Liquid Catsuit liquid lipstick in the shade “Terrifying Tangerine”. I used this same technique on my lips.

Step 3: Take any black eyeliner (I recommend any liquid eyeliner) and draw a curved line from the corners of your lips to your new circular orange cheeks. Then, draw vertical lines along that line to form your stitches.

Step 4: Using the same technique as your cheeks, use your orange color to fill in the tip of your nose and bring it to a slight point towards the top. Afterwards, trace around the shape you just made with the black eyeliner and draw stitches along the outline.

Step 5: Use this time to add any finishing touches and little details! I added some stitches to my forehead. I also took white liquid eyeliner to add a little dimension to my nose, cheeks, and lips.

And that’s all, folks! I hope you loved this quick tutorial and will try it out for yourself!

^^^ Many thanks again to Sarrah for creating such a darling makeup look for my Halloween Heaven guest bloggers series! Lil Red is so not a makeup girl and this tutorial gave me hope that I, too, can pull together a fun and cute costume if my Halloween activities this year calls for it!

What are some costume ideas for those who have no idea what they’re going to be yet? What are some other simple and sweet last minute costumes? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sweet As Sugar Skull Costume Makeup

Sweet As Sugar Skull Costume Makeup

Hi everyone and welcome to the first post in lifewithlilred’s Halloween Heaven guest bloggers series! This time around, I did something a bit different while on the hunt for participants for Halloween Heaven – I put my call of action on Facebook. My friends list is filled with so many talented makeup artists that it felt foolish to not try and include them, since part of the fun of Halloween is all about the costume makeup.

One of the lovely ladies who answered my cry for help is the darling Allison, who you can find at: allicat.mua on Instagram. Today, Allison is going to teach all of you how to apply a spooky beautiful sugar skull costume makeup. Then, she will be back later on in the series if you are in need of some more Halloween makeup inspiration for any upcoming parties. Take a look:

  1. Apply primer all over your face.
  2. Apply eye primer, as well, and then set it with a flesh-colored eyeshadow.
  3. Face First: Apply under eye concealer and foundation, then set it with a white finishing powder. Contour using a navy or dark, cool-toned eyeshadow.
  4. Using the face paint crayon, draw a circle around each eye and fill it in with the crayon or black eyeshadow.
  5. With a small brush and colored face paint or eyeshadow (You could use lip liner for this step, as well.), draw your designs. Be creative!
  6. Apply lipstick or leave it whited out. Use eyeliner to draw the lines or teeth to complete the look.
