Perfect Picnic Food

Hi everyone and happy weekend! Today and Sunday are going to be kind of special here on lifewithlilred because both days will be featuring a guest post from my sweet friend, Zeighn, over at oneselementblog. When Zeighn first contacted me, she mentioned that she’s a total fashionista and lives a healthy lifestyle through Veganism and daily yoga.

Initially, my first thoughts were “Great, because I love to eat” so I asked Zeighn if she could create a post with some of her favorite recipes for summer time snacks and drinks. Today will feature some food perfect for a picnic while tomorrow will show you some mouthwatering beverages to wash it down with. Take a look at the post that Zeighn created special for my readers and please be sure to give her page some love:

Perfect Picnic Food

Pack up these delicious meals and head outdoors for a refreshing outing. Best part? Everything is healthy and Vegan! All recipes will be linked down below. 🙂

Make sure not to forget your picnic blanket! A picnic is not complete without a blanket, basket, and lots of fun!

^^^ Omg. Can you say YUM?! All of Zeighn’s favorite recipes sound amazing! If you want more from my lovely guest blogger this weekend, check out her blog or follow her on Instagram. Thanks again, beautiful!

My birthday party at the end of the month is going to be of a garden party theme so now I need everyone’s opinions. What recipe listed above should I attempt to make for my guests? What recipes do you plan on trying? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Wanted: June Guest Bloggers

Hey everyone and happy Thursday! As you guys know, I am on the hunt for guest bloggers to help maintain lifewithlilred while I’m away on vacation from June third to the eleventh. I would much rather have guest bloggers showcasing their talent on my page than nothing at all while I’m gone so if you’d like a chance to shine here on lifewithlilred, please get in touch! I’d like to be able to prepare the guest posts for publishing and have them scheduled before I leave so I have nothing blog related to worry about while I’m having some fun in the sun.

I also am looking for two more guest bloggers for the last two Sundays of May. If you are interested in writing a guest post for either month, please shoot me an email at: sarah.mush6794@gmail.com. Just note that I am a stickler for grammar and spelling and just because you send me an email doesn’t necessarily mean you are “in”! If you have emailed me before and I haven’t gotten back to you, don’t be afraid to reach out to me again! My inbox has been flooded after publishing previous posts about my need for guest bloggers so there’s a good chance that I might not have seen everything!

Once again, if you are seriously interested, shoot me an email at: sarah.mush6794@gmail.com!

❤ THANKS!!!  ❤

Monday Update: Let Me Take A Selfie Edition

Hi everyone and welcome to another week here on lifewithlilred! I hope all of you had a fabulous weekend. Mine was busy but good, thanks for asking! As you guys know, I recently worked a new pair of specs into my wardrobe so it only seems appropriate to post some actually satisfactory selfies in which I’m donning my new frames. Take a look and don’t mind the dog fur on my jacket too much:

glasses11glasses1

I absolutely took these pictures while in my mom’s car and I regret nothing. However, I was getting pretty antsy because we were nearing the end of our drive back home from glasses shopping for her and I STILL couldn’t take a “good” picture. 1) I looked a hot mess in most of them and 2) my mom drives like a maniac so the bumpy ride was definitely not ideal for selfie taking! Luckily, we ended up stopped at a pretty lengthy red light so best believe your girl found her lighting Top Model style and posed and snapped away until the light turned green!

These pics definitely beat the duck face featured in one of my previous Monday Updates and I haven’t posted any new shots in a while so I figured this week’s Monday Update would be the perfect time to do so! I post 99% more pictures of me on my personal Facebook page so please don’t be afraid to follow me or shoot me a friend request so you can keep up to date on all of my statuses and picture posts! I’m not the best at updating my page for lifewithlilred but a like on there is always nice, too! ALSO, pretty please click my Twistfire ads so I get paid! 🙂

If you happen to visit my Facebook or blog this week, you’ll be seeing a lot of Influenster related posts because I was lucky enough to be selected to try out their #bloombox for testing purposes! I’m so excited to try out all of the new goodies that I received and I can’t wait to share my reviews on them. Definitely be on the lookout for Influenster posts and do check their website out because it’s a lot of fun – beauty blogger or not!

So there you have it, this week’s Monday Update: Let Me Take A Selfie Edition! Does anyone else use Influenster? What is one of the coolest products that they sent you to test? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Beauty Blogger Award #3

Beauty Blogger Award #3

Hey everyone and TGIF! On Wednesday I was nominated by my blogging BFF, Nida, over at Shopaholic Blogs for my third Beauty Blogger Award. Nida is one of my literal favorite people who I haven’t met yet so please be sure to check out her page because I know you’ll adore her as much as I do! And be sure to tune in to lifewithlilred on Sunday for a special guest blog from Nida! Now, onto the rules for the Beauty Blogger Award:

The Rules:

  • Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you.
  • Answer the questions assigned to you.
  • Nominate your own makeup/lifestyle/fashion bloggers.
  • Frame 10 questions for your nominees.
  • Inform the nominees about their award nomination.

Q & A:

Your favorite thing to eat?

Taco Bell! Always and forever.

List five beauty products you use everyday.

My moisturizer from Trader Joe’s, Nutriganics eye cream from The Body Shop, Vitamin C Skin Boost from The Body Shop, some type of cream cleanser (I’m not picky), an exfoliator, and usually a St. Ives body wash. (That was six but I could have named twenty!)

One tip for writing a great blog post.

Write as if you were talking to your best friend.

If you could buy five things for free from Sephora what would you choose and why?

Uh oh…I’m going to sound like the worst girl ever but I’ve never purchased anything from Sephora before! I’m the queen of drugstore makeup so I never really bothered with getting sucked into the hype of high end beauty products. I suppose if I could try anything, though, I would love to give some of the Kat Von D lipsticks a try – I hear they’re amazing!

Perfume or body mist?

Body mist all day every day!! Country Apple from Bath & Body Works is my mist of choice and I have four extra bottles of it in my hoard just in case they ever discontinue the scent!

One tip for making your makeup last through the day?

I would say to stick with makeup that you know works. I have a very set in stone makeup regimen that I don’t often steer from so if you were in a situation where a makeup melt down would be disastrous (a wedding or a hot summer day) then it’s best not to be ballsy with trying something new. I like to stay within the brands that I love and know that work best for me because I’d hate to waste money on a product that doesn’t last/work well!

Straightening iron or hair dryer and why?

Straightening iron because I’m not patient enough for the hair dryer! I also prefer my hair to be pin straight and that’s something that I can never achieve on the rare occasion that I blow dry my hair.

How have you improved as a blogger over time?

I would say that my posts are way cleaner from when I first started out a year and a half ago. I’m a big grammar and run on sentence stickler so I’ve been trying to eliminate those faux pas from my writing and I think I’m doing alright so far!

Liquid eyeliner or pencil? Which do you choose? State your favorite brand and why you love it.

Definitely a pencil! I use Covergirl’s Liquiline Blast eye pencils and they’re so awesome. I don’t like the super hard pencils and the Liquiline Blast is so smooth and creamy, it makes applying it such a breeze. I also don’t have the steady hand for liquid eyeliner!

A makeup product you wouldn’t use even if you got it for free.

Lol, that’s easy! The brand, Nourish Organic, has the literal worst cleanser I’ve used in my life. You couldn’t pay me to ever buy it again.

My Nominees (I’m only doing three):

My Questions For You:

  1. What is your favorite beauty product to splurge on?
  2. What drugstore makeup brand do you swear by?
  3. What is your favorite fragrance?
  4. Your favorite junk food?
  5. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
  6. How do you usually style your hair?
  7. What is your go to nail polish color?
  8. What makeup shades look best on you?
  9. How about colors that just look awful?
  10. What is your favorite shade of lipstick?

So there you have it, my Beauty Blogger Award #3! Thank you so much again to Nida at Shopaholic Blogs for the nomination! Nida is the epitome of beauty inside and out so please give her page some love! How would you answer some of the questions that Nida asked her nominees? How about some of the questions that I asked mine? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Black Leather Jacket OOTD

Black Leather Jacket OOTD

Hi everyone and welcome to a very special post here on lifewithlilred thanks to the fabulous Tara from venuslaughing. When Tara initially approached me for the possibility of guest blogging I was a little ambivalent because I still was unsure of how I wanted to go about doing guest posts on my page. However, after looking over her AMAZING blog, I just couldn’t say no. Tara is so creative, talented, and just lovely as can be and I am so incredibly lucky to have her on my page. I asked Tara if she could create some OOTDs involving a Black Leather Jacket (or pleather which is what I prefer!) and her post and photos blew me away. So without further ado, here is Tara’s guest post created special for my lifewithlilred readers. Enjoy:

Hello! Today I am thrilled to get to share with you one of my favorite wardrobe essentials that can be worn any season: the black leather jacket. I have been drooling over leather jackets for the past two years. Finally, my budget has allowed for this fantasy to become a reality! After a couple hours of careful perusing, I found an Etsy shop in California called The Industry that had a style I loved: vintage 1980s, black, short length, with patina and fringe! I’m so happy this treasure now lives in my closet.
Leather jackets communicate being secure in your own skin, marching to the beat of your own drum, and being in tune with your wildish nature. Also, wearing animal skin is a reminder of our primal connection to the earth itself, which modern society tends to be so out of synch with! And of course, buying vintage/used leather is smart for eco-sustainable and ethical reasons.

A leather jacket can pair with so many things! Here are a few of my favorite looks:

A Pop Of Color:
The inspiration for this look came from a beautiful bag my mom surprised me with one day, purchased at a local fair trade store called Just Creations. I had this idea to do my hair up in a kind of Bridget Bardot-esque look. The leopard booties (ASOS) might be too much, but they’re fun! Cut your mesh tights into socks and roll your skinny jeans over them for this look!

Romantic:

The inspiration for the romantic look was this floral summer dress, AKA the “Nashville dress”. It reminds me of a trip my sister and I took to Nashville once to try busking on the street (we made a whopping nine dollars!). Also, a beautiful book called Paris Street Style by Isabelle Thomas and Frederique Veysset, given to me for Christmas by my sister. It has a selection on leather jackets and dresses!

 Tips & Pics:
  • Mix it with something frilly, lacey, floral, romantic, or soft.
  • Pair it with white.
  • Bring a pop of color to it with earrings or shoes.
  • Put your hair in an updo to soften the look (Pro Tip: Use hair powder!).
  • Wear a bright colored lipstick.
  • And remember, above all else, have fun! The best fashion breaks rules. Do what feels good!

Thank you so much to the beautiful Tara for such a wonderful guest post! Once again, please be sure to check out her page at venuslaughing! What is your favorite look that Tara created? How would you style a Black Leather Jacket OOTD? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

I can’t wait to ring in the summer season with some new and old blogging friends so be prepared for tons of fun posts!

If you didn’t get picked for the month of May, fear not! I will be away on vacation June third through the tenth so I will need a lot of guest bloggers while I’m away. So if you are interested, please keep those emails coming to sarah.mush6794@gmail.com and I will be sure to get back to you at some point during the month to discuss blogging for me while I’m on vaca!

Follow/Like Me! (Please?!)

Hey everyone and happy Tuesday! This is your friendly reminder post to show your favorite redhead some Facebook lovin! I have reached the 5,000 friend mark on the ol’ FB but that doesn’t mean you can’t give your girl a follow! A follow is pretty much like being friends with me without really being friends with me. You’ll still get to see all of my status updates and pictures on your newsfeed without having me on your friends list. I personally think that this is still a win/win for everyone!

You can reach out to me on my personal Facebook page and a like on my page for lifewithlilred wouldn’t hurt either! And as always, please help me get paid by clicking the ads from Twistfire Media on my personal Facebook! I have lots of fun articles, quizzes, and facts posted so check them out, have a laugh, and help me put some moolah in my bank! Once again, it’s a win/win! If you are interested in posting for Twistfire on your Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest please feel free to email me at: sarah.mush6794@gmail.com!

❤ THANKS!!! ❤

Monday Update: Guest Bloggers, I STILL Want You Edition

Hi everyone and welcome to another week here on lifewithlilred! I hope all of you had a fabulous weekend! As the title of this post may suggest, I’m still on the hunt for guest bloggers. I have the month of April covered with a wonderful post that’s in the works as we speak so now I have my sights set on May. Ideally, I’d like to have a guest post on the last two Sundays of the month but I’m not opposed to having more!

What I want is a team, so to speak, of reliable and talented bloggers that I can turn to for these next few months because they’re going to be insanely busy. I would much rather have posts from my blogging friends than no posts at all when I don’t have time to write them! I’m looking for everything from beauty and fashion gurus to fitness and health tips and everything in between. If this interests you then PLEASE email me at: sarah.mush6794@gmail.com. If you comment on here but don’t send an email, I’m not going to hunt you down! (I sound like a teacher there. -_-)

Guest Bloggers near and far, I STILL Want You so don’t be afraid to get in touch if you are interested! How was everyone’s weekend? Did anyone attend a concert or see a movie? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
