Date Night!!

Date Night!!

Hello!! As per my New Year’s Resolution, I have been diligently penciling in at least one outing per weekend. Honestly, I can’t remember doing so much over the weekends as I have these past few weeks and it feels awesome to be having fun! This past Friday, Johnny and I went on a special Date Night to celebrate his new position at work. We are simply thrilled over this latest development so a night out was definitely in order. Johnny wanted to go to the arcade restaurant located in downtown Cuyahoga Falls called The Workz. That sounded great to me because their food is the bomb, so off we went:

By the time Date Night rolled around, Johnny and I were both famished and, thankfully, we were seated immediately. The Workz is a really popular spot, especially on Friday, so we had a Plan B should it have been too crowded. Happily that wasn’t the case because we both had been talking about their food all week lol. We had a delightful waitress who recently moved back to Ohio with her daughter, who also worked at the restaurant. In between waiting for drinks and dinner we had a lively chat about recommendations for hair and nail salons and it was so nice for two reasons. 1) I love sending people to my go to salons. And 2) It took our minds off of how hungry we were!

After sipping on drinks, a Margarita for me and some tropical cocktail or another for Johnny, our food was hot and ready. I’m pretty sure I heard the hallelujah chorus when our meals arrived at the table! Johnny got a smashburger with truffle fries on the side for us to share and I got their white cheddar mac n’ cheese which is DIVINE. We were both enamored by the little basket the fries came in and even more so by the taste. This was the first time we tried their truffle fries (My favorite!) and they were easily some of the best I’ve ever had.

We made quick work of our dinner and decided to stick around for a bit longer to play some games. By this time, The Workz was pretty jam packed so we opted to get forty credits on a game card and head home afterwards. This didn’t take long at all because the hatchet throwing game took eight credits per player so we could only play through it together twice. However, I could have stayed there playing all night because your girl was a natural!! Almost every single throw, I got a bullseye and there was nothing more satisfying than hearing that “thwack”!!

After retiring home for the evening, Johnny and I finished building our Malfoy Manor Lego set and it turned out amazing. I can’t wait to show all of you! Needless to say, it was a very successful Date Night!!

What did you do this weekend? Do you have any arcade eateries in your neck of the woods? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Ladies Lunch

Ladies Lunch

Hello!! I decided to actually make New Year’s Resolutions this year and I am pleased to report that I have been crushing. So much so, in fact, that I even added a new goal to achieve. My primary focuses are to continue going to the gym, firmly saying “no”, making more time for friends, and taking better care of my teeth. Every weekend since, I have had some type of outing with friends or family and I really do feel better for it. With a crazy demanding work schedule, it almost seemed impossible to make time for fun over the weekend because I was too dog tired. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still tired lol but now I feel like my weekends are a source of pleasure rather than counting down the minutes to my next shift.

This past weekend, my outing was to take my sister, Kristen, and three sweet nieces out for lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant, El Meson. It is the absolute best and a staple in my neck of the woods. I am always craving El Meson but the hankering was especially fierce as the Mexican restaurant we went to as a family for Christmas did nothing for me. So, I invited my girl squad to a “vanity lunch” so I could squash my cravings and get some quality time in with my four best girls.

Like myself, my girls live for Mexican food so our lunch was the perfect set up to eat, drink, and be merry – and did we ever! My eldest nieces went to town on queso and rice while Kristen and I opted for our usual vegetarian platters. We even toasted with her first drink since having my littlest niece in November and the Margaritas treated us just right! They always do, as did our favorite server who takes care of us every single time we have a lunch or dinner date. Dining at El Meson is forever fantastic, but he makes it that much better.

During the entirety of our Ladies Lunch, I couldn’t stop thinking about how lucky I was. This was my second weekend in a row that I got to spend time with the bestie squad! Prior to making my New Year’s Resolution, I honestly couldn’t tell you if I would have been up to those outings. And, I’m not going to lie, it is taking effort on my part to get myself out the door. However, once the plans are in action, it’s nonstop fun and that is exactly what I need. I even went out to lunch with a friend during my break on Tuesday!! Who am I and where is the normal, never does anything Lil Red?!

Ladies Lunch was a great success and I can’t wait to keep adding more plans to my agenda. It is making my life feel much more full and I am loving it!

What is your favorite local restaurant? What is your favorite kind of outing with friends? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Dinner Party

Dinner Party

Hello! Johnny and I both have really demanding work schedules and it can be hard to have the energy to do much of anything once the week is complete. While we love hanging out with our friends, we are perfectly fine just vegging out all weekend long. This past weekend, however, we turned into the hosts with the most because we had another couple over for a Dinner Party. We really don’t have a lot of couples to hang out with so it was a nice change of pace and we had the best time entertaining at chez nous. It has definitely been a while!

IMG_2220IMG_2219IMG_2221

On Saturday morning, we both got to cleaning as soon as we woke up. Johnny tackled vacuuming and cleaning the kitchen while I worked on the dreaded bathrooms. After our clean-a-thon, the apartment looked amazing and we were so pleased with our efforts! Granted, the bunnies did their due diligence of getting hay and bedding on the floor as soon as it was vacuumed but that’s just life as bunny parents lol. With a freshly cleaned apartment, we spent the rest of the day playing video games until it was time to start cooking.

For dinner, I planned on making my Olive Garden taste alike recipe for Fettuccine Alfredo, a taste alike salad, and garlic bread. Like Johnny and me, our guests live for a good Middle Class Fancy meal so it was the perfect way to go. Everything looked incredible and we were famished by the time the other couple arrived. Thankfully, so were they! I say thankfully because the last time we hosted a couple for dinner, they just didn’t eat and we were ravenous by the time we left. It was kind of weird. Over a delicious meal, we spent the entire evening talking and laughing away. Before we knew it, almost three hours had passed and it felt like they had just got here!

We parted ways with the promises of doing a get together again and as soon as the door shut, Johnny and I were raving about the success of our evening and making new friends. We were elated to know that they had a good time too and it was exciting to break out of our usual chill weekend comfort zone. I cannot wait to host another double date!!

Do you have a couple that you like to double date with? What is your favorite dish to prepare for a dinner party? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Best Pizza Ever

Best Pizza Ever

Hello!! My Mondays have turned into kind of a hectic day because I spend them as a personal assistant to Tim Misny at his estate called Misnyland. When we aren’t shooting content, joking with each other, making culinary delights, and laughing hysterically, I am bopping around here, there, and everywhere. Despite it being a long day, it’s a really fun day and by the time I make my hour drive home, I am famished. And that’s after having a delicious lunch that we always carefully prepare a menu for!

This last Monday, I had an especially long day for an evening content shoot and I told Johnny I would text him when I was about to leave. I was tired and, of course, hungry and he replied with the most beautiful message I have ever read: “I made an oven pizza for when you get back”. And, like a siren song, it guided me home. It might not seem like much but it truly was the best pizza ever:

IMG_1996

When I was little, my mom would typically get home later in the evening. She worked in Cleveland, primarily, and during traffic time the forty-five minute drive could turn into over an hour. Without fail, my dad would always have something ready for her to have for dinner when she got home. Whether it was oven pizza, spaghetti, or anything else easy, my mom would always say “I don’t know if this tastes so good because it’s good or because I’m hungry”. I know I’m using the word “always” a lot but I always thought it was the sweetest thing!

On Monday, it honestly felt like deja vu while I was chowing down on my oven pizza. It seriously tasted SO good and I found myself repeating the same sentiments that my mom used to say. I felt so lucky because my husband did the exact same thing that my dad would do which charmed me so much. And that’s not even mentioning the fact that he cleaned up the whole bottom floor of our apartment too. Johnny knew I had a way longer than usual day and did everything he could so that I could sink in a chair and relax as soon as I got home. It was so appreciated and he is just the best. ❤

I didn’t think it was humanly possible, but my schedule has turned even more crazy recently. I am so thankful to my main squeeze for holding down the fort until things slow down hopefully after the holidays!!

What is your favorite easy dinner? Has someone done something recently that you really appreciated? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Let’s Dish: Thanksgiving Food

Hello!! I have literally been looking forward to Thanksgiving since last Thanksgiving. And, when Thanksgiving is over, I eagerly await Christmas because my family just does Thanksgiving dinner Round Two. In case you haven’t noticed, I freaking LOVE Thanksgiving food and it makes me sad that I only get to indulge in this passion twice a year lol. And, indulge I shall. Let’s Dish on some Thanksgiving staples that I will definitely be going in for seconds (or tenths!) on:

There are some people who absolutely detest green bean casserole and that’s fine – you can just give it all to me! This is one of my designated dishes to prepare and, I hate to brag, but I knock it out of the park every time. It is SO easy to make, tastes divine, and is my all time favorite Thanksgiving food.

Stuffing is also one of the sides on my To Cook list and, once again, I hate to toot my own horn but it is always bomb AF. I load mine up with celery, onions, tons of garlic, and freestyle the herbs. The trick is to not make it too dry or moist so I am very careful when adding in the vegetable stock. I also add a few pads of butter over top of the stuffing before sticking it in the oven and it has never not turned out just right.

Potatoes are a beautiful thing, aren’t they? No matter how they’re made, I like it all! My mom makes the best homemade mashed potatoes and it is the perfect blend of not too creamy but not too chunky either. And, of course, I can’t get enough of sweet potatoes! While I prefer them plain with a bit of butter, my mother-in-law makes a dynamite sweet potato casserole that I always look forward to. 🙂

As a vegetarian, turkey is a very obvious no. However, even if I did it meat it would still be a no lol. I genuinely don’t even remember what turkey tastes like. What I do know, is that I don’t think I ever liked it because it was never on my plate when I was a kid!

Is it weird that I have never tried cranberry sauce? Guys, I just can’t do it. It’s not so much the way it looks, although that is part of it. It’s mainly a texture thing. It’s one of those foods that I know for a fact I won’t like so I don’t bother. And, at thirty years old, I don’t plan on bothering because I’ve lasted this long without it.

HARD no. The only time I have ever tried pumpkin pie is when one of my old client’s brother insisted I take a bite. It was awful! The flavor. The texture. Everything. Even with half a canister of whipped cream on one bite!! I mean, if you like baby food then what a treat lol.

Side dishes reign supreme on my Thanksgiving and I simply can’t wait to dig in! 😀

What is your favorite and least favorite Thanksgiving food? What are your plans for the holiday? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Middle Class Fancy Date Night

Middle Class Fancy Date Night

Hello!!! While driving home from a particularly long day last Monday, I was already looking forward to the weekend lol. Of course, I was eager to relax but I also wanted to do something fun with Johnny. So, I decided on treating us to a Middle Class Fancy Date Night. I also knew exactly where I wanted to go because I had been craving it something fierce: the Olive Garden! Johnny and I haven’t been there since my thirtieth birthday and the Fettuccine Alfredo was calling my name. As soon as I got home, I announced the Friday night plan and we were excited for it the whole week. We had the best time, even if this picture of Johnny makes you think otherwise:

IMG_1648IMG_1651IMG_1652IMG_1653

There are countless amazing restaurants in our general vicinity that aren’t part of a chain and that’s fantastic. However, Middle Class Fancy nights are all about embracing the chains and we both have our preferred spots. Johnny loves Outback Steakhouse and the Olive Garden is never not far from my mind. A vegetarian can never go wrong with pasta! After work on Friday, we both took a half hour or so to get spruced up and then we made our way to the OG on a rainy afternoon. Despite the weather, it was all sunshine and rainbows in my world because we come alive during date night!

For our meal, we ordered our old standbys: Fettuccine Alfredo for me and the same for Johnny except with chicken. We gorged on our pasta, soup, and bread sticks and sipped on tasty cocktails. The entire time we were at dinner, we chatted away and at some points were in hysterics laughing in our cozy corner booth. This is exactly why I love date night – being in any date style setting with Johnny forever will bring me back to our first date. That feeling that we could talk and laugh until it was time for the restaurant to close and wanting the night to last forever.

After we finished our delicious meal, we had one final stop to make before we could retire home to get comfy: The Exchange. Johnny’s pay day treat to himself is a couple of new records so this was a necessity. He selected a few for himself and then surprised me with a record for my minuscule collection: Rio by Duran Duran. I am an avid Duran Duran fan and as soon as I pointed the record out to Johnny, he plucked it from the shelf and added it to the “To Buy” pile. It was the sweetest! With records in tow, we headed back home to listen to all of them, play games, and revel in a perfect Middle Class Fancy Date Night. ❤

It has been a while since Johnny and I had a night on the town together and this was our reminder that we need to do it way more often. I can’t wait to start incorporating more date nights into our schedule because there really is no better way to wrap up the week!

What is your perfect date night? What is your favorite chain restaurant? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Cake In A Can

Cake In A Can

Howdy!! Johnny and I have been on a sparkling water kick for a while now and we really enjoy testing out different brands and flavors. My Top Three are Orange & Vanilla by Polar, Peach Bellini by Bubly, and Fruit Punch by Waterloo. Johnny, on the other hand, is fondest of the Pino Colada by Waterloo. Out of all of the popular brands, the one we don’t drink too frequently is La Croix. After this week, however, we experienced a major game changer because we are obsessed with their Limoncello sparkling water!

IMG_1445

The only time I have had real Limoncello was years ago and I thought it tasted just like lemonade. I was expecting a lemony flavor during the taste test of the La Croix rendition and my thoughts were confirmed when it smelled exactly like Mr. Clean lol. You can imagine my surprise when I took my first sip and it didn’t taste anything like lemon at all. In fact, it didn’t taste like any type of beverage I have ever had before. Johnny described the flavor as “cake” and I truly can’t think of a better way to say it!

The La Croix Limoncello has a really full bodied vanilla flavor. It seriously tastes like drinking ice cream! If you are not a fan of vanilla, you are going to hate it. If you’re like me and can’t get enough of vanilla flavor, you are in for a huge treat. I have been looking forward to cracking open a La Croix after work every day for the past week and my deepest regret is that we drank the last one yesterday. This flavor has flipped my original Top Three on its head and has skyrocketed into the lead as the best sparkling water I have ever had. I cannot recommend it enough. 😀

Love sparkling water? Love vanilla? You simply HAVE to try the La Croix Limoncello. You will thank me later!!!

Are you a sparkling water fan? What is your favorite brand and flavor? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

4 Easy Meals You Can Prepare If You Love Coffee

4 Easy Meals You Can Prepare If You Love Coffee

Coffee is more than just a drink, it’s a lifestyle. For coffee enthusiasts, the bold flavors and aromatic profiles of coffee extend far beyond the mug. If you’re someone who loves coffee, why not incorporate it into your meals? Coffee can add depth to dishes, creating savory, sweet, or even smoky notes that elevate your culinary game. Whether you’re a busy professional or a home chef exploring new tastes, here are some easy meals you can prepare using coffee as a star ingredient:

For a savory meal that highlights coffee’s robust flavor, try a coffee-rubbed steak. This dish is quick to prepare and will impress even the pickiest eaters:

Ingredients:

  • 2 steaks (ribeye or sirloin work well)
  • 2 tablespoons ground coffee
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Combine the ground coffee, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Rub the mixture generously over both sides of the steak.
  3. Let the steak rest for 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the steaks for about 3-5 minutes per side, depending on your preference.
  5. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

For breakfast enthusiasts, a coffee-infused syrup is a game changer. It pairs beautifully with pancakes, waffles, or even French toast:

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine brewed coffee and sugar. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Lower the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the syrup to thicken slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Let the syrup cool before serving. It can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Coffee’s earthy flavors work wonders as a marinade, especially for chicken. This recipe creates a tender and flavorful dish that’s perfect for dinner:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together brewed coffee, soy sauce, olive oil, honey, cumin, and garlic.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Ensure the chicken is fully coated.
  3. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for a more intense flavor).
  4. Preheat your grill or oven to 375°F. Grill or bake the chicken until fully cooked, about 25-30 minutes.

Need a quick snack to power through your day? These no-bake energy bites are easy to make and combine coffee with chocolate for a delightful pick-me-up:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup ground coffee
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients until well combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Place the bites on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 1-2 hours until firm.
  4. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
  • Use freshly brewed coffee or high-quality ground coffee for the best flavor.
  • When incorporating coffee grounds into recipes, ensure they’re finely ground. Using a coffee grinder brush can help keep your grinder clean and ensure no old coffee residue affects your dishes.
  • Experiment with different roasts. Light roasts bring bright, acidic notes, while dark roasts add rich, smoky undertones.

Coffee isn’t just for drinking – it’s a versatile ingredient that can transform your meals. Try one of these easy meals and bring the bold essence of coffee into your kitchen!

Caffeination Station

Caffeination Station

Hello! When I moved into my own apartment, my parents got me a red Keurig for my housewarming gift. At the time, I wouldn’t have called myself a huge coffee drinker but I liked to have it in case I needed an extra boost or I had company over. Then, in 2022 we experienced the Great Kitchen Flood and it ruined several of my countertop appliances, Keurig included. I never bothered replacing it because it’s not like I used it every day so it felt like an unnecessary expense.

Fast forward to this past year when I began getting up at the buttcrack of dawn (Three AM) for work and your girl instantly turned into a coffee fanatic thanks to the Keurig Johnny gifted me with for Valentine’s Day. Literally every day since he gave me my prezzie, I have enjoyed back to back brews Monday through Friday and I don’t know how I survived before lol. And, major shout out to my parents for coming in with the assist:

IMG_1441

I spend A LOT of time at my mom and dad’s house in a care giving role and I am more than happy to do so. That’s not to say that I am not happy to have a little treat, though, too! Every week, Giant Eagle runs a great promotion on specific brands of K-Cups for five bucks a box. Every week, without fail, my parents will get me a Green Mountain (My favorite brand!) blend when they do their grocery shopping. Is this something they have to do? Absolutely not! But the fact that they want to and it has become a part of their grocery routine gives me ALL of the warm fuzzies.

I’m not going to lie, having to get up so early for work blows lol. There’s just no better way to say it and I fantasize every morning about going back to sleep as soon as my alarm goes off. No one said adulting was easy! However, after I take care of the buns and take a shower, I know that it is coffee time! It sounds like a little thing, but taking out my box of K-Cups that my parents got me and using the Keurig that Johnny gifted me with gives me a bright start to the day, no matter how early. Every morning, I get to use gifts given to me by people that I love and by the time that first sip hits, I can take on the world that is mostly still asleep!

Thanks to Johnny and my parents, I start my days off right – with a smile and caffeinated!! The best combination!

How do you take your coffee? What do you use to make your coffee? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Daring Plant Based Buffalo Wings Review

Daring Plant Based Buffalo Wings Review

Hello! I have been an extremely strict vegetarian for as long as I can remember. Way back in the day, I feel like the only brands around for meatless options was MorningStar or Boca. Now, there are endless different possibilities and it’s freaking awesome lol – minus the fact that the meatless products can be kind of expensive. My favorite “newer” brand has got to be Gardein because Johnny and I absolutely love their fake fish fillets for sandwiches and wraps. I have been interested in trying more of their meatless options but I never feel like paying ten dollars for it! During my last shopping order from Walmart, I did try a new to me brand called Daring. The price was right for five bucks a bag of buffalo “chicken” wings and I was really looking forward to giving it a taste test. I made them this weekend and they were a huge hit! Check it out:

IMG_1414IMG_1411IMG_1415

One of mine and Johnny’s favorite easy peasy meals are wraps. I make them with cilantro lime rice, southwest salad, and a meatless product like fish or chicken. They are so simple but so good! Over the weekend, I thought I would make us some wraps with the Daring buffalo wings after a super busy Saturday afternoon. As soon as I opened the bag and put the wings into a frying pan, I had to call Johnny over into the kitchen. To this long term vegetarian, they really did look like actual wings and Johnny agreed. This was pleasing to me because I am so used to the MorningStar buffalo patties that are just kind of flat lol.

After fifteen or so minutes of cooking the wings, I was ready to assemble my wrap and dig in. I was surprised by the fact that I needed to cut these wings into pieces with a knife because they were too hefty to do with just a fork. Again, that never happened with Morningstar! After my first bite with the Daring wings, I wasn’t sure what to think. The flavor was great – nice and spicy. The texture was what threw me off because it was thicker and chewier than the patties I have ate for well over a decade and a half. Then, Johnny tried a piece and told me that it tasted similar in texture to actual chicken. Because I don’t remember what actual chicken tastes like, I thought that was pretty cool. And, once I got over the initial shock to the system, I ended up enjoying every bite. In fact, I had a wrap for almost every meal that weekend!

If you are interested in expanding your vegetarian meatless options, I cannot recommend the Daring brand enough. The prices are the best I have seen for any comparable brand and they taste great too. Don’t take my word for it? Take the word of the happily carnivorous Johnny, instead!

What is your favorite vegetarian dish? Which brand makes the best meatless food? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
