Little Christmas Haul

Little Christmas Haul

Hi! We celebrated with Johnny’s family on Christmas Day and had the most wonderful time. Unfortunately, his aunt couldn’t attend and it just wasn’t the same without her. We were so happy that she was in town this past week and finally got to have our “Little Christmas” get together. It’s basically the same thing as Christmas but we ordered Chinese food lol. It was amazing to be all together again for our bonus celebration and it certainly felt Christmas-y despite it being January eighth! Check out my very last holiday haul:

Johnny and I were so generously gifted with lots of goodies and he received something really cool! My husband is a history buff and his aunt gave him her freshman year of high school American History text book. It was complete with her notes and highlighted sections and he has already enjoyed flipping through the pages of yesteryear. As a gift for both of us, we got the absolutely adorable Rudolph hot cocoa set. Seriously, how cute is that? We just love those mugs and although we are not big hot chocolate drinkers, our nieces can’t get enough of it. We are so excited to have them over for one of their favorite treats but in different mugs lol. I would be so sad if one of them broke because did I mention holy cuteness?! 😀

One gift we all had to laugh at was the Wicked slippers. I have never seen Wicked and I have zero desire to do so. When I opened the box, however, I genuinely thought the Ws were cacti and I could definitely get down with that! It wasn’t until further inspection that I realized what they were but I’m still going with cacti and they look comfy as can be. I am also delighted to have some more cozy pairs of boot socks because ankle socks during the winter is for the birds. I am SO sick of them sliding off so I have a double dose of treats for my feet. 🙂

Last but not least is the pretty as a picture picture frame, candle, and picture keeper. How sweet is that frame? I think it will be the perfect one to house a snapshot of me and my three nieces! ❤ I also adore being gifted with candles because I never buy them for myself. I have been loving burning the one my bestie got me for Christmas so this will be great to have on standby. And, finally, I have no idea what the picture keeper is or how to use it. BUT, if it gives us a space to free up the rapidly dwindling storage on our phones from OOTD shoots then we needed it like yesterday!!

We have been looking forward to Little Christmas since Christmas and now it’s officially a wrap on our holiday season. What a fantastic one it was!

Are you a Wicked fan? What is your favorite kind of cozy clothing? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bunny Name Game

Bunny Name Game

Hello darlings! Quick question… Are you really a pet parent if you don’t have a litany of nicknames for them? We have had our beloved bunnies, Melvin and Penelope, for over three years and it feels like we have had them for forever. They are simply the best and we love them so. A few weeks after we adopted them and took them home, I made this post with a handful of their nicknames. My goodness has this list not only expanded but also devolved into calling them mere syllables sometimes! But, hey, they respond to it so that’s all that matters. Melvin Vincent Price and Penelope Marie may be their names but if you’re friends you can get away with the following:

Melvin is Penelope’s baby and the duo was so bonded that we adopted them together. While Pen comes out of her shy shell occasionally, Melvin is Mr. Attitude. Since the day we brought him home, he has wanted to be on the move and explore. Thus earning him his first nickname of TW or “Tiny Wanderer”. Since their homecoming, Melvin Vincent Price has been known to go by:

  • Mel Mel
  • Mel Bell
  • Little One
  • Scamp
  • Son (Because let’s be real, he looks exactly like Johnny!)
  • BB
  • BB Boy
  • Rambo (Short for rambunctious)
  • Mr. Price
  • Mr. Mel
  • Mister Mister
  • Biggest Boy

^^^ Big stretch!

Penelope Marie is my baby girl. Ever since I was little, I wanted a bunny named Penelope for some reason and now I have finally got her! It took Penelope a fair amount of time to warm up to her new surroundings and me. The jury is honestly still out on Johnny lol. Over the years it has been so much fun to watch her confidence and trust grow and she is the biggest cuddle bug now! Also the recipient of many a nickname like:

  • Mama
  • Mama Girl
  • Miss Mama
  • MG
  • Nelly
  • Nani
  • Na Na
  • Na
  • Pretty Girl
  • Penny
  • Penny Lane
  • Pretty Penelope
  • Princess Penelope
  • P Marie

^^^ Special delivery!!

Whatever we call them, Melvin and Penelope have turned our apartment into a true home. They came to me when I needed them most and it is one of my greatest joys to be a bunny mom!

What are the nicknames for your pets? How did they earn them? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath & Body Works Semi Annual Sale Haul

Hello! As soon as I woke up on the day after Christmas, I headed straight to my laptop to shop the Bath & Body Works Semi Annual Sale. There is nothing better than getting the products that I always use for dirt cheap and I had a massive restock of my foaming hand soaps and wallflower plugins. It couldn’t have come at a moment too soon because I was running very low! After my shopping spree I ended up with seventeen products for sixty dollars making each item about three dollars and fifty cents. You just can’t beat that! Check it out and let’s discuss the scents that are new to me:

Would I Buy Again?

Peppermint Bark Truffle: YES!!!!!!!!!!

Cereal Milk Soft Serve: NO

Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Cookie: MAYBE

Grape Spritz: YES

Why/Why Not?

Peppermint Bark Truffle: Out of the Milk X B&BW collabs that I have tried, the Peppermint Bark Truffle is the absolute best. If you are a fan of chocolate and peppermint, then this is the scent for you because that is exactly what it smells like. I freaking love any kind of peppermint scent and this pairing with the dark chocolate is *chef’s kiss*. Peppermint Bark Truffle literally smells good enough to eat and I wish that I bought more of it. Highly recommend!

Cereal Milk Soft Serve: The fragrance notes of Cereal Milk Soft Serve include “Soft ice cream, golden cornflakes, and frosted sugar”. In theory, this sounds delightful. In practice is a whole different story. This scent smells like a bowl of cereal that has been sitting out for an hour and I just can’t. B&BW has tried their hand at cereal themed scents before and this is one of the rare occasions where they fail epically. However, if you are into smelling like old milk then go for it, I guess? Lol.

Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Cookie: This scent is just okay for me and I would only buy it again as a last resort. The fragrance notes of “Toasted pretzel, cinnamon dusting, and sugared vanilla” are nice but it’s just a bit too subtle for me. I like my smell goods to pack a punch! On the bright side, the Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Cookie really does smell like the description and is still infinitely better than the milk one!

Grape Spritz: Where my grape soda fans at?! While I love an orange soda, grape reigns supreme in my world and I am all about Grape Spritz. With notes of “Bubbly white grape juice, peach nectar, and orange zest” this fizzy scent smells exactly like a freshly poured grape soda. It is bold, bright, and provides a pop of sweet summertime in the winter. After a few dud scents, this was much more like it because I am so there for it. 😀

During the winter Semi Annual Sale I like to stock up on my go to seasonal scents like Vanilla Bean Noel and Twisted Peppermint. For good or bad, it’s always fun to try a few new fragrances though!

Did you shop the Bath & Body Works Semi Annual Sale? How did you make out? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Christmas OOTD Pt. 2

Christmas OOTD Pt. 2

Hello!! My Christmas OOTDs are a dollar and several days short but that’s okay. 1) It gives an extra incentive for all of you to follow me on TikTok for immediate OOTD content. *Shameless plug* And 2) I had so many fantastic holiday hauls that definitely took first dibs. The look you are about to see was from when we celebrated with Johnny’s family on Christmas Day. An OOTD that answers the question of “What do you wear when it’s fifty degrees on Christmas?” Check it out:

Feliz Navidad Sweater: Walmart

Skirt: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Heels: Reaction By Kenneth Cole, TJMaxx

Frilly Socks: ModCloth

The headband and chain earrings are both from Target, I think!

A balmy fifty degree day on Christmas was honestly confusing lol. What do you wear on a winter holiday that feels like spring?! Rather than be too warm or too cool, I decided to combine the two seasons for a look that kept me comfortable during the heat wave while serving up a dose of festive fun. To start, I chose my favorite and only Christmas sweater from Walmart. Johnny and I got this years ago when we went to a friend’s Christmas party and I just freaking love it. Those bright colors completely pop and this twenty buck purchase has served me well for many a Christmas Day.

Next on the agenda was what to wear on the bottom. After a cold spell, the weather turned into spring. Like a true Midwestern gal from Akron, Ohio that means it’s time to break out the short shorts. Or a skirt! Trust me, no matter how cold it is here there are always tons of people in shorts so I knew I was in good company with my devil may care comrades. For my skirt I went with an adorable tennis skirt by Kyodan that has a pair of shorts built in. The pleats are oh so sweet, I never had to worry about a wardrobe malfunction thanks to the shorts, and the ventilation was definitely needed. We were all burning up!

The last order of business was shoes and accessories. To keep my leg line long and unbroken, I selected my pair of darling red heels by Kenneth Cole and slipped those on with a pair of frilly ankle socks. I am all about a frilly sock and they add such a touch of girly cuteness to each look. For accessories, I went with a pair of gold chain earrings and popped on a headband too. The burnt amber gems of the headband went perfectly with the rest of the look and I never say no to more bling bling. With that, I was ready to step into the sun and enjoy a beautiful holiday. ❤

Was it Christmas or Easter in this look? Who’s to say? This was a healthy combo of the two but when you’re in the Midwest, you just make it work!

What are the seasons like in your neck of the woods? Do you have a favorite holiday sweater? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Lil Red’s Book Club: Wild Dark Shore By Charlotte McConaghy Edition

Lil Red’s Book Club: Wild Dark Shore By Charlotte McConaghy Edition

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new edition of Lil Red’s Book Club! In a spoiler free setting, as always, we are going to be discussing Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy. This book had it all – suspense, romance, and a riveting whodoneit. It was, at times, painfully sad but I enjoyed every moment of this three hundred page powerhouse. Before we begin our chat, I will be placing a trigger warning on Wild Dark Shore for natural disasters, animal cruelty, general violence, and sexual assault. Now, let’s get to it:

Dominic Salt lives and works on remote Shearwater Island with his three children, Orly, Fen, and Raff. Dom is the caretaker to this island that is home to wondrous animals like seals, albatrosses, and penguins as well as a seed bank should the world ever fall into a time when plants would need to be restored. Once a bustling place with scientists and researchers is now left to the Salt family. Everyone else has fled the island or vanished and it is up to them to maintain the seed bank until they are scheduled for extraction. They have their tasks and routines down to a science until it goes haywire when a woman washes up on shore.

Despite her hatred of the water, Rowan must get to Shearwater Island for someone she wants back desperately. She hires a boat and a captain and sets sail into rough waters. Then, catastrophe strikes when a major storm hits, destroying the boat and sending Rowan into the sea. By some miracle, she is rescued by Fen who mans the beach at Shearwater. She is barely conscious, badly injured, and is nursed back to health by the Salt family with a lot of help from the youngest, Orly, who refuses to leave her side.

After Rowan returns to the land of the living, she can’t help but shake the feeling that the Salt family is lying to her. They tell her that all sources of communication have been destroyed, they are the only people on the island, and Rowan must stay until their extraction date. As the days continue and Rowan recovers, she finds that she cannot stay still with idle hands for weeks. While she investigates her cause, she begins to grow a fondness for the family through their shared labor, living quarters, and experiences. She might even be growing fond of the patriarch, Dom.

Of course, feelings are always subject to change and as her love for the Salt family blooms, she begins to uncover their lies. There is no way off the island. No way to reach anyone and Rowan is stranded and in probable danger. Were these lies meant to cover something sinister? Or were they to protect Rowan from a hard truth? Read Wild Dark Shore to find out!

I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I began reading Wild Dark Shore. This is the first book by Charlotte McConaghy that I have read and I suspect it won’t be my last because this book was excellent. Wild Dark Shore flip flopped between Dom, Rowan, Orly, Fen, and Raff with chapters that were short and sweet. It was no secret that the Salts were hiding a secret and each point of view came together to paint a clear picture. It kept me turning the pages SO quickly and I also liked that I didn’t figure out the grand reveal completely. While this was a family based plot with a delicious “Will they, won’t they?”, this was still a novel of suspense through and through. It was a welcome change of pace from my usual thrillers and I have to say that the make you blush sex scene was a nice touch too! 😀

The cast of characters in Wild Dark Shore has zero complaints from me because I honestly loved them all. I adored Orly and his passion for nature. I related to Fen as she healed from trauma. I rooted for Raff as he battled his anger. And although I didn’t know the lie keeping Dom and Rowan at arm’s length, I was pulling for their relationship every step of the way. These characters were expertly crafted and the book was beautifully written. From McConaghy’s vivid descriptions, it felt like I was right there on Shearwater too. I marveled at its splendor as Rowan took it all in with fresh eyes. I mourned for the losses the island experienced. I kept my hopes up that this broken woman and family would find peace in any way they could salvage. And I closed this book feeling sad but immensely satisfied by this profound read.

Overall I am going to award Wild Dark Shore with the coveted ten out of ten stars. I can’t put into words how fantastic this book was. You are just going to have to trust me and read it for yourself!

What are you currently reading? What should I read next? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Pink & Blue Glitter Nails

Hi! I look forward to my break time fills at Elysian Nails every month. There is nothing better than breaking up the work day with a little pampering! This time around, however, I changed things up to a Friday after work so I could squeeze in an appointment before the salon’s holiday break. So well deserved! I always enjoy my time at Elysian but this was especially nice as I could sit back, relax, and not worry about a time crunch. And my nails look fab to boot! Check it out:

I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan of the blue and pink combo. All I can think of is “baby boy” or “baby girl” lol! I just couldn’t say no to these gorgeous glitter shades, though. As I consulted the nail polish book, these dazzling hues were close by to each other and I couldn’t stop picturing them together. I attempted to try and find alternatives to combine with just pink or blue and failed. These nail polishes were calling to me and I am so glad that I picked up the phone as it was from an unknown number. Bad joke, SMH. No, I’m glad I picked up because I am obsessed! These vivid polishes are popping, it looks like fairy dust, and it’s just FUN. 🙂

As my talons got sharpened and shaped it was lovely to catch up on the holidays with my go to tech. We chatted away about our hauls, family celebrations, and what’s on the horizon for the New Year. This pampering session was a gift literally and metaphorically. When I walked into Elysian Nails, the owner greeted me and handed me a gift card from Johnny’s aunt who couldn’t be there on Christmas. It was such a sweet surprise and felt like an extra dose of holiday magic in 2026! ❤

I am stepping into the New Year with a fresh fill and am feeling fierce. Bring it on!

How has the start of the New Year been for you? What are you looking forward to this month? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

BFF Holiday Haul

BFF Holiday Haul

Hello! This past Friday I finally got to celebrate Christmas with my BFF and this hang out was a long time coming. Getting Covid at the beginning of December threw a wrench in our plans and we couldn’t have our annual holiday hang until after the New Year. It was certainly worth the wait though because we had the most wonderful time! We ordered Chinese food, opened gifts, and girl talked the evening away. It was just what the doctor ordered to wrap up a beautiful holiday season. My bestie treated me to so many lovely gifts and I can’t wait for all of you to see the piece de resistance! Check it out:

When it comes to gifts, I absolutely love receiving bath and body care. What can I say, I’m a huge fan of smell goods! My bestie knows this and graced me with some goodies from Bath & Body Works. This included a shower gel of my favorite scent, Champagne Toast, or as Johnny would call it “Champagne & Toast”. I also got a Snickerdoodle candle that makes my apartment smell like a bakery and another of my beloved foaming hand soaps too. I had to laugh when I saw the scent was Pomegranate & Blackberry because this was actually a hand soap that I skipped on when I shopped the Semi-Annual Sale. Not because I didn’t want it but I had too many products in my cart. Lol, I got it after all and she knows me so well!

The next gift I unwrapped was a double gift – a travel jewelry case with the sweetest bunny necklace tucked inside. Perfect for everyone’s favorite bunny mom! I literally clutched my pearls when I saw the little bunny atop a gold moon and I have a feeling I will be wearing it every day. I also know that my travel jewelry case will be getting excellent use too. Johnny and I are going on a BIG trip this year (More on that later) and I now have something to safely store all my bits and baubles. It will be like a hug from my bestie when I take it on our travels. ❤

This post Christmas bash was definitely worth the wait! The best gift, though? My best friend (Of over eighteen years), of course!

How did you celebrate the holidays with your friends? Which of your gifts have you put to use? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Groovy Movies: Anaconda Edition

Groovy Movies: Anaconda Edition

Hello! Johnny and I are lucky enough to have the most amazing downstairs neighbor. We hang out often, so much so that we formed a club called Friday Night Dinner Club. FNDC is exactly what it sounds like: We go out to dinner or order in and watch a movie and round robin who is paying. This past Saturday we shifted into Saturday Afternoon Lunch Club for a meal at Chipotle before hitting up the movie theater to see Anaconda. It was great fun but even better because of the company. In a spoiler free setting, as always, let’s discuss this silly popcorn flick further. Before we begin, I will be placing a trigger warning for snake carnage. Here we go:

^^^ As always, I have no rights to this video!

Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd) spent their childhood making movies with their best friends, Claire and Kenny. They had dreams of making it big and Doug and Griff semi realized their goals. Doug makes wedding videos that he calls “films” and Griff works at Lowe’s while taking any bit acting job he can… And not getting fired. What they need is a change of pace. Something to reignite their creative passion. So, they decide to do an entirely self funded and self staffed remake of Anaconda.

After some convincing, the ragtag crew is on their way to the Amazon. They have a boat with a captain and a snake expert hired and their initial days of filming have gone better than expected. The boat captain may seem a bit sketchy but she is getting them from Point A to Point B. As they continue filming, a snake situation has left them in need of… Well, a new snake. As they search for a replacement in the Amazon jungle, the crew becomes the hunted of an Anaconda that has a taste for humans. Doug, Griff, Claire, and Kenny have literally stepped foot into the actual movie and it’s up to them to get out unscathed. Will they survive the Amazon jungle and the Anacondas that inhabit it? See Anaconda to find out!

Anaconda was a short and sweet flick that was barely over an hour and a half. AKA my kind of movie because any longer and I would have needed a bathroom break lol. Was this the best movie I have ever seen? No, not by a long shot. Was it still a good time? Yes! Anaconda was full of fast paced action, funny jokes, and classic Paul Rudd and Jack Black. Johnny and I love both of those actors so much and their roles were basically themselves. What’s not to like? 😀

If you are looking for a groundbreaking remake, you’re not going to find it in Anaconda. If you are looking to be entertained for a little while, it is definitely worth the watch. I genuinely can’t say if I liked this movie a lot because I liked it or if I liked it a lot because of the people I was with. If that makes sense! It was just such a nice afternoon out with my two favorite guys and I enjoyed myself very much. All I know is that I will be looking forward to our next Lunch/Dinner/Movie Club meeting to see the new Jason Statham flick coming out at the end of the month!

Overall I am going to rate Anaconda with a six out of ten stars. It was pretty good but not great. If you are Paul Rudd and Jack Black fans too, this one is for you!

What was the last movie you saw in theaters? How was it? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Christmas OOTD Pt. 1

Christmas OOTD Pt. 1

Hi! If you follow me on TikTok, you were able to see my Christmas OOTDs in real time. If not, let’s take a look at them in blog time AKA several weeks later lol. I had three festive fits to break out and I was so excited to wear them all – even if it was just for the sake of taking pictures. That was very much the case for the outfit you are about to see. We didn’t have an adult holiday party to attend and I couldn’t have imagined wearing this ensemble to visit our parents! Check it out:

Ho Ho Ho Sweater Vest: Spirit Christmas

Tree Skirt: Spirit Christmas

Bedazzled Fishnets: Urban Outfitters

Red Heels: Reaction By Kenneth Cole, TJMaxx

Hoop Earrings: Argentino Vivo, TJMaxx

I had a blast visiting Spirit Christmas before the big celebration and was hoping to find a cute elf or Mrs. Claus costume to wear. Instead, I walked away with a Step Brothers T-shirt, a sweater vest that put me on the naughty list, and a tree inspired skirt. Now, during a normal shopping trip I am looking for pieces that can be worn for several seasons rather than one day of the year. However, I just couldn’t say no to the Santa’s Favorite Ho sweater and a skirt that looked like I had stolen Christmas!

This OOTD was part naughty, part nice, but oh so much fun and I WILL find an event to wear it to next year, damnit. That cheeky sweater vest with the make you blush saying paired so perfectly with my tinsel skirt adorned with red and silver ornaments. It was like a sassy version of Santa’s elves and I got to do it Lil Red’s way as opposed to a store bought costume. The sweater vest may or may not have been a for the sake of content purchase but I did get to bust out the skirt again for my family celebration. My nieces and nephew were obsessed with it and so am I. Although the tinsel definitely started to shed after extended wear!

To wrap up this fiercely silly look, I slipped on a pair of bedazzled fishnet tights from Urban Outfitters for an extra pop of bling and, dare I say, naughtiness! To balance things out, an oh so sweet pair of red heels by Kenneth Cole were in order. It matched the sweater vest to the T and I just adore that fringe detailing. Last on the agenda was a pair of forest green hoop earrings by Argentino Vivo to keep with the Christmas palette. With that, I was ready to take pics and get back in my pajamas lolol.

I might not have gone anywhere in Part One of my Christmas OOTDs but that’s no matter. This look was for me (And all of you too!) and I am SO happy with these purchases even if they can only be worn during the holiday season!

Do you have a collection of holiday seasonal clothes? Where do you like to shop for them? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Best Ice Skating Session EVER

Standard
Best Ice Skating Session EVER

Hello! I was a competitive figure skater for close to a decade and it was a (mostly) wonderful experience. I haven’t gone skating as frequently as I would like in my adulthood but I think that is going to change very soon. Ever since I learned I was going to be an aunt to my first niece six years ago, I have dreamed of taking her skating. My niece told me that she would like to start learning when she was eight but then she changed it to six after talking about it. Yay because this past weekend we went skating for the first time together and it was nothing short of magical. Also my dad chauffeured us and that made it extra special too. Let’s discuss:

We visited the indoor rink in Canton, Center Ice, for our skate date and the open skate was buzzing with people enjoying their holiday vacation. This did not deter my niece from wanting to give it a shot and I was incredibly proud of her for being so brave. It can be intimidating to try something new when there are a lot of people around and I love that she just went for it. With the provided walkers to help beginner skaters at the rink, we made our way to the ice and my cold bitter heart began to swell like the Grinch.

During our first lap or two around, my niece worked on the old March, March, Glide and really got a feel for being on the ice and moving her feet. Then, she would take a quick break and sit with my dad while they watched me bust out some jumps and spins for the one time. After a few minutes I would ask if she wants to join me and we would go back to the ice together. About twenty minutes in, she even asked me if I would just skate around her and the walker so I could guide her through traffic jams if needed and she could DIY. Her confidence on the ice from start to finish raised infinitely and one lap around turned into two turned into three. It was absolutely amazing.

Not only was it a dream come true to skate with my niece for the first time, but it was pinch myself worthy to have my dad there too. My dad took me to almost every one of my skating practices. My mom would handle all of my competitions because my dad was too nervous to watch lol. It was the perfect tradeoff and I always loved that. I know that my dad being there for his granddaughter’s first “practice” was something he was looking forward to too. My dad introduced me to the joy of skating and now he got to watch me do the same for one of the little ones in our family. It was a full circle moment and I will cherish it forever.

I cannot wait to hit the rink up with my niece again if she would like to. If not, that’s okay! After this skate, I want to make an effort to go at least once a month and that seems like a great extra New Year’s Resolution!

Did you play any sports when you were a kid? Do you still play it now? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
