Terrific T OOTD

Terrific T OOTD

Howdy everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! This past week was my full week back to work after my surgery and it was a doozy and a half. I kicked it into overdrive because surgery doesn’t pay for itself and by the time Friday rolled around I was beyond mentally and physically prepared to become one with my couch. After a lunch date with Johnny on Saturday, of course. Our meal was pretty lackluster but anytime out and about with my main squeeze is a good one and the perfect excuse to put together an outfit. I knew exactly what I wanted to wear because I have been on pins and needles to sport my new favorite T-shirt from Hot Topic! Check it out:

Twilight T-shirt: Hot Topic

Mini Skort: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Platform Heels: Olivia Miller, Walmart

Earrings: SugarFix By BaubleBar, Target

The cuffs are by Aerie and Betsey Johnson!

I have a confession to make… I have never read the Twilight books *GASP*. However, an old client of mine was an avid fan of the movies and working with her was a crash course on that franchise. I have seen each one several times and enjoyed every viewing. They’re just fun and the hot dads don’t hurt, either. I’m talking about you, Charlie and Carlisle!! As soon as I saw the I ❤ Hot Dads T at Hot Topic with my favorite fellas from Twilight, it was as good as mine. Not only does this shirt feature my exact sentiments but it is hilarious and I couldn’t say no! I was so amped to wear it and the experience did not disappoint. 😀

I am really not a jeans and a T-shirt kind of gal so I decided to pair my T with a flirty little tennis skort by Kyodan. I wish I could have their skorts in every color, style, and pattern because they are my go tos especially in the summer. The light breezy material keeps me cool and comfortable and the built in shorts provide peace of mind when I am on the move. I am very partial to this skort as the skirt is sheer and gives an adorable peek a boo pop to the shorts. This skort added that extra something special to a silly T-shirt and kept this look fashion forward even with a basic essential.

Next up was shoes and accessories. For shoes, I pulled from the pink in the shirt by wearing the cutest pair of pastel pink platforms by Olivia Miller. Like my lavender pair, they were only five dollars and it literally does not get better than that! These funky platforms are way cool and incredibly comfortable. My only regret will forever be that Walmart did not have my size in the black pair of the same shoe!! In the accessories department I added a pretty pair of sparkly earrings by Sugarfix and a couple of bangles for good measure. With that, Charlie, Carlisle, Johnny, and I were ready to go get some lunch lol. 🙂

Stay tuned for the Blooper Reel from this look coming soon! ❤

Unique Unicorn OOTD

Unique Unicorn OOTD

Hi! This past week we had a beautiful birthday celebration for our darling middle niece and it was so joyous. Friends and family gathered to celebrate our special girl and we couldn’t have asked for a better sunshiny day! My sister even hired a face painter for the party and she was a huge hit for the kids and your girl alike lol. You know TT had to get her face painted too as the extra aunt! My nieces were tickled that I participated in the face paint and immediately clocked the KPop Demon Hunters crop that I wore just for them. We love our Huntrix girls!! Take a look at this Unique Unicorn OOTD:

KPop Crop: 5 Below

Mini Skort: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Lavender Platforms: Olivia Miller, Walmart

The lightning bolt earrings were purchased on a vacation to Universal Studios many moons ago!

In hindsight, it was a mistake to wear an all white ensemble to a child’s birthday party because some stainage definitely happened on my skort lol. However, I am pleased to report that the stains came out in the laundry and it’s as good as new. GREAT SUCCESS! Anywho, I started styling this look in the KPop crop department as I have a couple of different ones from 5 Below and I love them all! I decided on the one featuring Rumi as she is my birthday girl niece’s favorite and even has a singing doll of her. Honestly, it’s really cool and I kind of want one for myself! 😀

Next up was a skirt, shorts, or jeans and I chose both of the first two options by wearing a skort. I am all about my Kyodan tennis skorts and they are so perfect for running around like crazy people with my nieces. No wardrobe malfunctions? No problem! Although the crop top is more of a cream hue, it still paired well with the crisp white of the skort and I adore the sweet movement that the school girl pleats provide. From there, it was onto shoes and accessories…

I didn’t need to browse my shoe collection because the lavender Olivia Miller platforms were an obvious choice. Once again, it wasn’t a perfect match to the purple in the crop but it was close enough and that’s all that matters to me. I got these babies for FIVE BUCKS at Walmart and am still blown away by that purchase. You just can’t beat a pair of Olivia Millers for that price! The last addition to my OOTD was a groovy pair of bedazzled purple lightening bolts that I snagged at Universal Studios. You’d be amazed at what fun jewelry you can find at zoos and amusement parks! With that, I was ready to celebrate the birthday princess on her big day!

Stay tuned for the Blooper Reel from this OOTD and remember that if you have the option to get your face painted: Go for it! It was a hoot!

Are you celebrating any birthdays soon? What would you have a face painter paint on you? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sassy Skort OOTD

Sassy Skort OOTD

Hi everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! A few weekends ago we visited an absolutely amazing indoor mini golf course called Glow Sticks. This putt putt paradise was themed around music from the 1950s to the 1990s and we had so much fun rocking out to the great tunes and trying to sink a hole in one. We are chomping at the bit to go back and it is a perfect spot to go to beat the summer heat with a classic outdoor activity brought indoors. Of course, I had to put a little something something together for our outing and couldn’t wait to bust out a new top from a recent TJMaxx trip. Check it out:

Groovy Blouse: J. McLaughlin, TJMaxx

Tennis Skort: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Mules: B.A.I.T., ModCloth

I have no idea where the daisy earrings came from!

I have been itching for an occasion to wear my new J. McLaughlin blouse from my TJMaxx birthday haul and this was it, baby. This top is so groovy and just screams 1970s – I felt perfectly in place as we entered the room at Glow Sticks dedicated to that era! I just love the color palette of this little number and it’s like if 1970s wallpaper were made into a top. It is oh so retro and is a fond tip of the cap to one of my favorite eras of fashion. Not only is this top ultra cool but it is literally ultra cool. Despite the longer sleeves, the material is so light and I was completely comfortable even in the summer sun. That is a huge win because I typically save long sleeves for the fall!

I decided to pair my blouse with one of my go to mini skorts by Kyodan and tucked it in to make a pseudo dress. I am freaking obsessed with skorts and the Kyodan brand can’t be beat. I found this skort in the athletic department of TJMaxx but it is strictly a fashion piece for me! I know I have said this before but it is worth repeating: I will never serve on the tennis court in these skorts but I will serve looks every time I step out in one! Game, set, and match. 😀

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. To keep with the throwback theme, I chose a darling pair of heeled mules in a sunny yellow featuring adorable daisies. As the middle of this outfit was a neutral, it gave me permission to have some fun with my shoes and it doesn’t get much more fun than these! They were also just right for putting away at Glow Sticks although I never have any problem in a taller heel while mini golfing. *Hair flip* For accessories, I tied the look together from head to toe with a cute AF pair of daisy stud earrings. With that, I was ready to hit the links and have a blast!

Stay tuned for the Blooper Reel from this OOTD and so much more fashion fun on lifewithlilred!

Fresh & Flouncy OOTD

Fresh & Flouncy OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! We had an absolutely crap spring in good ol’ Akron, Ohio. It was cold, grey, and it felt like it was always raining. Until the sun came out! For the past few weeks we have been enjoying the most gorgeous weather and I have been living for the moderate seventy degree temps. All I want to do is be outside all of the time now! My cravings have been satisfied with lots of walks and hikes and a lovely outdoor birthday party for one of Johnny’s coworkers this past weekend. This is what I wore to celebrate:

Striped Top: Japna, TJMaxx

Tennis Skort: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Heeled Mules: Betsey Johnson, TJMaxx

I have no idea where I got the daisy earrings lol

After being bundled up in jeans and hoodies all spring, it has been delicious to break out shorts, skirts, and dresses. I am normally not a huge fan of dressing for summer but I can’t get enough of it now as the weather didn’t give me the opportunity to don my spring favorites. I love pretty, flowy blouses in the spring and decided to start there when styling this OOTD with an emerald green striped blouse by Japna. This top is so breezy and just screams spring and summer. I love how the navy and white stripes pop against the green and the bell sleeves that dance in the wind, offering the most feminine fluttering movement.

As this top featured stark white stripes, there was no better skirt to pair it with than my Kyodan tennis skort. Talk about a perfect combination! I love the preppy vibes that this skort provides sans hitting the tennis court lol. Rather than serve there, I’ll serve fashion instead! Also, major shout out to the skort because it is one of the best pieces of clothing that doesn’t get enough credit. There is nothing like the comfort of not having to worry about my underoos showing when the wind picks up and for that, I am thankful. #blessed

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. This OOTD had a pattern on top but a neutral piece on the bottom, which meant that I could have some fun with shoes. I chose a darling pair of heeled mules by Betsey Johnson because if her clothes and accessories aren’t fashion fun then I truly don’t know what is! How cute is that black and white heel and bright yellow flowers?! For earrings, I kept with the flower motif with a pair of daisy stud earrings and was ready to partay!

Stay tuned for the Blooper Reel from my Fresh & Flouncy OOTD coming soon! ❤

Skort & Sweet OOTD

Skort & Sweet OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! Today we’re going to take a look at the fun little look I created to get some new tattoos with Johnny’s aunt. We had the most fabulous time in the studio with my tattoo artist and had a delicious meal afterwards. I think we are all chomping at the bit to get back into my artist’s chair. Johnny and I are definitely feeling the itch because one tiny tattoo apiece just wasn’t enough! Maybe I’ll have to wear another Skort & Sweet OOTD the next time too. 😀 Check it out:

Sweater: Lush, TJMaxx

Tennis Skort: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Heels: White Mountain, TJMaxx

Necklace: This was purchased from a vendor fair in Atlanta from an artist named John Deveer

I think the earrings are from Target?!

For this OOTD, I started from the bottom in the skort/skirt department of my wardrobe. As the weather has warmed up, I have been so enjoying wearing skirts and dresses sans tights and wanted to take advantage of the warm day we had on our outing. I opted for one of my all time favorites – a pleated tennis skort by Kyodan. I absolutely love it! The sheer pleating over the shapewear shorts adds a pop of sex appeal along with the most charming movement. It is flouncy, oh so fun, and as a bonus – you don’t even have to wear it to play tennis lol! 🙂

While it was nice outside, it can sometimes get chilly in a tattoo shop so I went for a thin sweater by Lush on top. This sweater was just right as it is slightly thicker than a T-shirt material which provided a bit of extra warmth without feeling like I was overheating. Although the palette of this little number looks more like autumn, I like it year round all the same because fall colors are my forever fave. I adored the way that the pleating from the skirt poked out beneath the oversize sweater and it made for a really unique silhouette.

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. For shoes, I went with a darling pair of heeled Mary Janes by White Mountain. The chocolate colored heel was ideal with the fall hues of the sweater and those stud details are the cutest. These heels are comfy AF and I could walk for miles in style with them! In the accessories department, I chose a gorgeous handmade necklace by John Deveer and it blended into the outfit seamlessly. I slipped on a pair of amber gemstone earrings and then it was off to get some ink!

Stay tuned for the Blooper Reel from my Skort & Sweet OOTD and lots more fashion fun on lifewithlilred! ❤

So Spring OOTD

Standard
So Spring OOTD

Howdy! Spring weather in Ohio has been flip flopping hard and I honestly can’t keep up. It goes from the seventies to the thirties in a snap and it’s just all around confusing and, frankly, annoying lol. It is impossible to get the apartment to a comfortable temperature and it is always too hot, too cold, and never just right. Where’s Goldilocks when you need her?! On the blessedly warm days, it has been so nice to break out some spring clothes like the ones in this super cute OOTD. Check it out:

Cami Top: Banana Republic, TJMaxx

Mini Skort: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Platforms: Free People, TJMaxx

Earrings: You can’t really see them but they are made out of Lego by AbbieDabbles!

Both bracelets were purchased forever ago from Aerie!

This little look is simple and incredibly easy to replicate but oh so much fun! When it comes to dressing for the warm weather, a skort/cami combo can’t be beat to keep cool AND serve fashion. I started this OOTD by browsing in my cami collection and decided on an adorable floral number by Banana Republic. I just love all of the sweet colors that this top features and am a huge fan of the fit. The V-neck is high enough that I still feel comfortable in it and I really appreciate the thicker strap to keep my bra straps in check. I never really care if I have bra straps showing but this top conceals them perfectly making this look girly sweet over sexy chic.

Next on the agenda was a skirt or skort and I picked one of my favorites by Kyodan. The skorts I own from this brand are meant to be worn playing tennis. I don’t play tennis nor do I have the desire to but this skort still serves! See what I did there? I freaking loves me a skort and actually just added a new one into my wardrobe. They are just right for being on the go and not worrying about a sneak peek of my underoos lol. This stark white skort made all of the pretty colors in the cami pop even harder and provides such delightful movement. I loved shimmying and shaking in it when I went to see The Struts last year! 😀

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. For shoes, I opted for a darling pair of platforms by Free People. It was a close match to the red flowers in the top and tied this look together from head to toe. I also can’t get enough of those studs and the wrap around strap! In the accessories department, I went for the cutest pair of Lego earrings. They have a ladybug sitting on top of a green leaf and, although you can’t see them, I know that they’re there and that’s good enough for me. I added a few cuff bracelets to the mix and was ready to rock in my So Spring OOTD!

The weather might be ping ponging but no matter what the forecast shows, I am always ready to style for whatever season the day may bring!

What does a typical spring outfit look like for you? What is spring weather like in your neck of the woods? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

V-Day Bratz Doll OOTD

V-Day Bratz Doll OOTD

Hello! Last weekend I got all dolled up to see Stereophonic at Playhouse Square with my main squeeze. Although the show sucked eggs, the OOTD was on point! Speaking of dolled up, I was very inspired by Bratz dolls when I styled this look. Bratz were my favorite dolls to play with when I was little and their trendy fashion inspired me then and now. I told Johnny about my outfit inspo and he said he was feeling Sabrina Carpenter over Bratz to which I replied “same thing”. It’s so true! Take a look at this Bratz/Sabrina Carpenter fit and let’s discuss:

Heart Sweater: Very Truly Yours, TJMaxx

Tennis Skirt: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Platforms: Sugar Thrillz, Dolls Kill

The brooch earrings were purchased forever ago from PacSun!

I purchased the absolutely darling Very Truly Yours sweater during my last shopping trip at TJMaxx. It was the first thing I saw when I walked into the store and I had a vision of an outfit a la That’s So Raven. In my head, I pictured the look you see above to the T and I just had to have that sweater to see it through. I was hoping to find a Valentine’s Day piece of clothing to wear to my Playhouse Square outing and what I found was pure candy hearts perfection. This sweater is so soft, sweet as can be, and is chock full of adorable details. I love the argyle diamonds, the piping on the collar, and those heart shaped buttons! My new sweater felt very Chloe from the Bratz collection and I definitely see where Johnny was coming from on the Sabrina Carpenter front. She is Chloe to the T!

I paired my sweater with a sassy little tennis skirt by Kyodan. While this is an athletic brand, they serve fashion while serving tennis and I can’t get enough of their skorts. They provide flounce sans any fear of a wardrobe malfunction and it was a gift that kept on giving as we hiked our way up to the balcony at the theater lol. I adore a pleated skirt as they are so girly and it kept with the ultra feminine vibes of the sweater. Although I was freezing my nads off even with the knee high socks, it was so worth it. 😀

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. For shoes, I opted for a gorgeous pair of platforms by Sugar Thrillz. The baby pink of the heels was an excellent match to the sweater while the pop of plaid added some funky fun. And, of course, the heart accents going across the shoe added to the Valentine’s Day flare. In the earrings department, I went for a pair of brooch style studs with a red rose in the middle. Roses are a classic V-Day gift and I said “make it fashion”! With that, I was off to see a terrible show with my honey as an early Love Day date. ❤

Is it Bratz or Sabrina Carpenter? I say both. I love my dolls and my beloved Miss Carpenter just as much as I love this look!

What is your favorite Sabrina Carpenter song? Which Bratz doll was your favorite? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Christmas OOTD Pt. 2

Christmas OOTD Pt. 2

Hello!! My Christmas OOTDs are a dollar and several days short but that’s okay. 1) It gives an extra incentive for all of you to follow me on TikTok for immediate OOTD content. *Shameless plug* And 2) I had so many fantastic holiday hauls that definitely took first dibs. The look you are about to see was from when we celebrated with Johnny’s family on Christmas Day. An OOTD that answers the question of “What do you wear when it’s fifty degrees on Christmas?” Check it out:

Feliz Navidad Sweater: Walmart

Skirt: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Heels: Reaction By Kenneth Cole, TJMaxx

Frilly Socks: ModCloth

The headband and chain earrings are both from Target, I think!

A balmy fifty degree day on Christmas was honestly confusing lol. What do you wear on a winter holiday that feels like spring?! Rather than be too warm or too cool, I decided to combine the two seasons for a look that kept me comfortable during the heat wave while serving up a dose of festive fun. To start, I chose my favorite and only Christmas sweater from Walmart. Johnny and I got this years ago when we went to a friend’s Christmas party and I just freaking love it. Those bright colors completely pop and this twenty buck purchase has served me well for many a Christmas Day.

Next on the agenda was what to wear on the bottom. After a cold spell, the weather turned into spring. Like a true Midwestern gal from Akron, Ohio that means it’s time to break out the short shorts. Or a skirt! Trust me, no matter how cold it is here there are always tons of people in shorts so I knew I was in good company with my devil may care comrades. For my skirt I went with an adorable tennis skirt by Kyodan that has a pair of shorts built in. The pleats are oh so sweet, I never had to worry about a wardrobe malfunction thanks to the shorts, and the ventilation was definitely needed. We were all burning up!

The last order of business was shoes and accessories. To keep my leg line long and unbroken, I selected my pair of darling red heels by Kenneth Cole and slipped those on with a pair of frilly ankle socks. I am all about a frilly sock and they add such a touch of girly cuteness to each look. For accessories, I went with a pair of gold chain earrings and popped on a headband too. The burnt amber gems of the headband went perfectly with the rest of the look and I never say no to more bling bling. With that, I was ready to step into the sun and enjoy a beautiful holiday. ❤

Was it Christmas or Easter in this look? Who’s to say? This was a healthy combo of the two but when you’re in the Midwest, you just make it work!

What are the seasons like in your neck of the woods? Do you have a favorite holiday sweater? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Concert Cutie OOTD

Standard
Concert Cutie OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! Today, we are going to take a look at what I wore to see Dirty Honey and The Struts at the House Of Blues. This was my birthday gift from Johnny and it was the absolute best time! Both bands were so incredible live and it was a blast to dance the night away with my main squeeze. As these bands are super glam, I had to pull out all of the stops for this OOTD and I LOVE how it turned out! Peep these pics and let’s discuss:

Kerchief Top: Japna, TJMaxx

Mini Skort: Kyodan, TJMaxx

Union Jack Platforms: Y.R.U., Dolls Kill

Lightening Bolt Earrings: These were actually purchased in a gift shop during a family vacation to Universal Studios!

In the case of this Concert Cutie OOTD, I started styling from the bottom up. I knew damn well that I was going to wear my Union Jack platforms to tip my hat to The Struts as they hail from across the pond. I wanted these amazing boots to have the spotlight so the pieces I chose were meant to accentuate and that meant going for a minimal color palette. I had a semblance of an idea of what I was going to wear, but I decided to go to TJMaxx during my break at work on the day of the concert to see if I could kick things up a notch.

Johnny suggested a mini skirt and I thought that was a fine idea, indeed. My hunt for the perfect mini skirt was futile until I remembered that one of my favorite skirts was not found in the normal clothing departments of TJs. It was from the athleisure department! Just as soon as I had this brain blast, I found the school girl style mini skort by Kyodan and I knew we were in business. In the fitting room, the full outfit came to me in a vision and I couldn’t wait to put it altogether.

For the top, I kept with the muted palette with a darling snakeskin pattern kerchief top by Japna. This little number is SO sassy and sexy and it’s easily one of my favorite styles of tops to wear. Very rarely do I get to show off the tattoos on my back and that’s a shame because they are all so cool (Let’s be real, though, ALL of my tattoos are cool!). Kerchief tops were truly the answer to my prayers and I loved my Japna top paired with the stark white mini skort. It was also a great opportunity to play with texture as the top featured a gorgeous sheen against the more subdued material of the skort. The platforms in their glittery glory introduced a new texture too which allowed for the eyes to dance as much as I danced my ass off that night. ❤

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. A little fun fact about these platforms is that they are the reason that Johnny and I went on our first date. I had recently posted pictures of myself wearing them and he shot me a message asking if they were made in a Chelsea style. My heart swooned over the fact that a guy was in my inbox talking fashion instead of initiating a one night stand. We ended up going on a date that very night and have been inseparable ever since! With the boots pre-selected, I popped on a pair of bright purple lightening bolt earrings for a pop of color and was ready for the show!

This OOTD was just as fun to wear as it was to style. A perfect night needs a perfect outfit!

Have you been to any concerts recently? When was the last time you got dolled up? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Kyodan Mini Skort

Standard
New Kyodan Mini Skort

Howdy!! This past week I made a trip to TJMaxx for a few things. I needed a reup on serum, beaucoup Bluey gifts for our almost birthday girl niece, and kept my fingers crossed to find a new skirt. The TJs gods smiled upon me because I got everything I wanted in spades! For my birthday, Johnny gifted me with tickets to see The Struts at the House Of Blues (Peep a post about the show and my OOTD soon!). I knew which top and shoes that I wanted to wear but I thought a sassy little mini skirt would take the OOTD OTT (Over The Top lol). It took a while to find what I was looking for but success was oh so sweet when I did:

^^^ Originally forty-eight bucks and I got it for thirteen! SCORE!

When I am shopping for clothing at TJMaxx, I typically follow a specific method: Make one round in the women’s and junior’s department, try clothes on, then make a second round for anything I might have missed or different sizes. During my initial trip around the store, I found several options for mini skirts that could have worked and had no such luck with any of them. After a lackluster fitting room session, I made my way back to hunt for more skirts and was coming up empty. Then, inspiration struck right in the knick of time.

As I went through my mental Rolodex of skirts in my wardrobe, I recalled that one of my favorites wasn’t found in my usual departments at TJs. It was actually a tennis skirt that I found in the athletic section. It was just the brain blast I needed and just as soon as I began browsing the athleisure, I discovered exactly what I had in mind. A bright white school girl style skort by Kyodan. It also happens to be the same brand of my fave tennis skirt!

I knew that the white skort was going to work and trying it on only confirmed it. It was the perfect neutral to pair with the crazy platforms I was going to wear and provided the best movement to dance the night away. This skort was also nice and light and I freaking loved the fact that it was a skort. I was definitely trying to let loose for the concert but I wasn’t trying to let everyone see my underoos all night lol. For thirteen bucks, this skort elevated my OOTD and I can’t wait for all of you to see it. 🙂

An amazing concert deserved an amazing outfit and I felt as much like a star as one of my favorite bands on the stage. Thank you, TJMaxx! ❤

Do you have a method you follow when you shop? What is one of your favorite brands? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
