Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

When it comes to beauty, nothing is permanent and it’s important to remember that. Girls grow up and want to emulate their favorite pop stars, TV princesses, and movie queens and, as such, we copy every out-there look. Whether it’s a spray tan as dark as hardwood or a nose ring to copy the latest DJ, experimentation is part of growing up as a young person. That need to find out who you are comes with a territory and sometimes that territory means donning blue hair with green streaks. Don’t laugh, though, the mermaid look is very much in, and you only have to look here to see it!

Sometimes, even after that experimental teen phase passes, a change is needed. There are so many ways that you can make a change to your look; clothes and makeup being just two of them. Some of the changes can come with regret, but as we’ve already said, nothing is permanent. Piercings can be removed and the holes close up. Wardrobes can be reshuffled. Hair can be dyed back to a more ordinary color. Even tattoos inked into the skin can be sorted with several visits to a tattoo removal service. Beauty isn’t always cheap, and reversing that beauty isn’t, either. However, it is available to you and you don’t have to stay looking one way or another just because of a little ink or hair dye!

When it comes to changing part of your look, it comes with a shift in your life. So many self-help books tell you not to go for a big, dramatic change when stressful situations arise, but change is the way that so many people cleanse. Strip it all back and start again with a clean palette, that sort of thing. There are so many ways that you can change your appearance and reflect a different part of your personality. For example, someone who loves the meaning of tattoos and certain designs are more likely to cover themselves in tributes to areas of their lives that they never want to forget. Of course, these can be removed down the line, but that’s why it’s said never to get a tattoo unless you are 100% sure!

changee2Pretty!!

Those who enjoy the look of piercings are different to those who like to streak their hair with frosted blonde. The change that is made with a piercing can be reversed but more often than not, is preferably permanent. You can experiment with clip on piercings before going for the real thing, so you can see what it looks like. Ears are the usual place to pierce but those who want to be more out there and different go for noses, septum, lip, and even cheeks! Making a change in your appearance is never a bad thing, but you need to be sure that you want to make a change before you go for it. Understand your reasons behind the change and make sure that you feel comfortable with it.

Change is good for the soul and sometimes after tragedy or excitement strikes, a new update to your appearance is just what the doctor ordered!

Tattoo Update!!

Hi everyone and happy Monday! So on Saturday I got my new tattoo, which you can see the inspiration for in this post. It went swimmingly BUT there is still some work to be done on it – a few add ons and touch ups because some of it was done in white. SO I won’t be posting a picture of the finished product until next week when it is officially “all done”. Rest assured that I am absolutely in love with my Little Prince themed ink so far and I can’t wait for all of you to see it soon!

Until I post pictures of my new tattoo baby, enjoy this picture of me talking on my good ol’ trap phone, instead!

^^^ AYYY!

(And if you use your powers of observation, you’ll notice my Little Prince shirt underneath my favorite moto jacket!)

How was everyone’s weekend? Who else has gotten some new body mods done recently? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Tattoo Excitement!!

New Tattoo Excitement!!

Heyyy everyone and happy Hump Day! So I am wicked excited for Saturday the 20th at 1 o’clock in the afternoon because I have a tattoo appointment!! I was planning to get a new tattoo for my birthday in June, but I saw that the artist who I am going to is running a percentage off special in May so I figured that I might as well get it now and save some money on it. It has been literal years since my last tattoo. Jeez Louise, I think it might have been back in 2014. Yikes!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I don’t want more tattoos because I want a bunch. But, when I started college in 2014, I didn’t exactly have money to just throw around on extra things like body mods, clothes, and accessories because they were just extra and text books are no joke. But, now that I’ve been graduated since the end of 2016 and am actually making money instead of constantly spending it on college related fees, I feel pretty okay about getting a TREAT YOSELF/early birthday tattoo!

So what am I gonna get, you might ask? Take a looksee:

prince3prince2

If you aren’t familiar with the book The Little Prince, then you are missing out because that’s where these drawings are from! I plan on getting the first image of him flying with the birds on my side but I want him dressed in the clothing from the second image. The birds are going to go up onto my back and probably end close to my bra line. Then at some point, I’ll work in a quote en francais as well as the horizon line at the end of the book. AHHHH!!

For those of you who don’t already know, The Little Prince is one of my all time favorite books. It just is. I could read it every day until I die and never tire of it. I think that it is so beautiful and every time I read it (which is quite frequently), I fall even more in love with the words and imagery scattered like petals throughout the pages. I am super excited to get my undying adoration for this book commemorated in tattoo form and it has been a long time coming because I’ve wanted this done for five-ever.

May 20th can’t come soon enough and I have a feeling that I will be in the tattoo chair quite a lot this year! How’s that for some New Tattoo Excitement?! Who plans on getting a new piercing or tattoo soon? What is your favorite tattoo or piercing that you have? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

April 2017 Finishes Pt. 2

April 2017 Finishes Pt. 2

Hi everyone and happy Thursday! You might be scratching your head and wondering why there’s a Part 2 to my April 2017 Finishes post from yesterday. Well, here’s why! Back in October of 2016, I began using the Destiny Boutique Charcoal Face Bar and am literally just now finishing it. This beauty bar has lasted me well over HALF A YEAR and I paid a whopping SIX DOLLARS for it. And, the best thing is, is that my skin is simply obsessed with it. Take a looksee and let’s discuss:

soap

^^^ As you can see from the picture above, this charcoal bar is freaking HUGE, so it’s no wonder why it has lasted me as long as it did. And we’re talking daily (sometimes twice a day) use of this product here!

I am lucky to say that I have been blessed with skin that has never really suffered from any skin care woes. But, one thing that I do struggle with are some really tough blackheads. I have five nose piercings (two on each nostril and my septum is pierced), and blackheads are drawn to this area like moths to a flame. It doesn’t surprise me, considering that I am constantly touching and adjusting my piercings with my super long talons.

“So you have some blackheads. Big deal.” And, you’re right. It really isn’t a big deal because they’re barely noticeable. But am I thrilled about having them? Absolutely not. The blackheads around my piercings are something that I want to keep on lock because when people look at them, I want them to see the artistry and jewelry – not tiny little black needle points every which way.

Around the time that I purchased this Destiny Boutique bar from TJMaxx, I had been itching to try some type of charcoal based product. I had read about how well it deep cleans the pores and I really wanted to give it a go. So when I found this six dollar bar at TJs, I simply had to buy it. And, I have to say, this is one product that I can’t picture myself ever not using because I am now a dedicated Destiny Boutique super fan.

The Charcoal Face Bar draws my pesky pierced nose blackheads out like a magnet. Even after a couple of days of use, I noticed a significant difference in the amount of blackheads on my nose. And, let me tell you, that’s a really good feeling. This beauty bar has not only decreased my blackheads, but it seems to keep as many from popping up on my poor problemed nose.

I paid SIX DOLLARS for a product that has lasted me OVER HALF A YEAR and it has infinitely helped my blackhead battle. Not only that, but it provides my skin with an overall healthy glow and I can’t get enough. So much so that I have another bar on back stock, am currently using Destiny Boutique’s Charcoal Cleanser, and have another one of those on back stock, as well. Like I said, I’m a super fan.

I legitimately cannot recommend Destiny Boutique’s Charcoal Face Bar enough and urge all of you to give their products a try. I am so glad that I did, and I have a hunch that you will be, too.

So there you have it, my April 2017 Finishes Pt. 2! Have any of you ever used Destiny Boutique products before? What did you think of it? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Forgotten November Empty

Hi everyone and happy Hump Day! So after going through my finished products to recycle after yesterday’s November Finishes post, I realized that I had forgotten one of my empties! I am actually really surprised that I did because I was so excited to finally be done with the product after working on it for about a year and a half. What beauty product lasts that long, you may ask? YOU’RE ABOUT TO FIND OUT! Take a look and let’s discuss:

Would I Use Again?

  • Dickinson’s witch hazel: YES!!

Why/Why Not?

Witch hazel: As I mentioned above, I have been working on this bottle of witch hazel for a long time. This stuff has been my go to for keeping my five nose piercings clean for years. With two piercings on each nostril and my septum done, it is easy to see why infections might be common so every morning I give my little nosie a good cleaning with the product. Thanks to my witch hazel regimen, I rarely get unsightly bumps or redness around my piercings and it has also helped eliminate some of the blackheads that gather on my nostrils, too!

I did not use the Dickinson’s brand prior to finishing this bottle but I have been using witch hazel on my piercings for the better part of three years and would never use anything different. If you are looking for a cheap and effective way to keep your favorite piercings looking and feeling clean than I cannot recommend starting a witch hazel regimen enough!

Special sorry shout out to Dickinson’s for forgetting about you in yesterday’s post but no hard feelings because I already cracked open a new bottle last week! 🙂

So there you have it, my Forgotten November Empty! What do you use to keep your piercings clean? Is anyone planning on getting a new body mod soon? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

My Second One Lovely Blog Award

Hiii everyone and happy weekend! I hope that everyone is having a fabulous day so far. On Thursday I was so flattered to be nominated for My Second One Lovely Blog Award by the sweet Juliet at: notcapulet! I’m so appreciative to everyone who has been nominating me for all of these fun awards lately – believe me, it does not go unnoticed! As always, with these awards comes some rules for the nominees to follow, so take a look:

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated them, including a link to their blog.
  • List the rules and include the award badge in their acceptance post.
  • Add seven facts about yourself.
  • Nominate fifteen other bloggers and notify them of their nomination.

Now, I suppose I have to think of some new fun facts about me – which is actually kind of difficult! I’m really not that exciting. Let’s see…

All About Me:

  1. I currently have over twenty days worth of music on my iTunes and my collection is always growing. I’m looking forward to adding Enya’s newest album, Dark Sky Island, as well as some Fleetwood Mac next.
  2. I absolutely adore the Despicable Me movies! I usually don’t care for anything animated but those movies are definitely the exception. Minions are my spirit animals and thanks to my boyfriend and sister I have a collection of Despicable Me stuffed animals including: Agnes, Kevin, Stuart, fluffy unicorn, and Kyle!
  3. My two favorite television shows are Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David is a genius.
  4. I love to read and am about to start rereading Neil Gaiman’s Sandman graphic novels for the second time. Sandman is easily one of my favorite series and I plan on getting a tattoo from the amazing artwork that it boasts eventually.
  5. I was completely heartbroken over the deaths of the great David Bowie and Alan Rickman this past week. The world lost two great talents and I am so sad to see them go.
  6. One of my goals is to become fluent in French and I’m working very hard to achieve that.
  7. I’ve gotten over thirty piercings in my twenty-one years of living. I now only have ten – five on my nose, four on my ears, and my bellybutton. I also have four tattoos and I can’t wait to get more soon!

My Nominees (I’m only doing three):

So there you have it, all of the details from My Second One Lovely Blog Award! Thank you so much again to my friend, Juliet, at: notcapulet for nominating me! What is everyone up to this weekend? What are some fun facts about yourself? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: Christmas Wish List Edition

Monday Update: Christmas Wish List Edition

Heyyy everyone and happy Monday! Christmas is quickly approaching and you best believe that my wish list has been written! One would think that I’m relatively easy to shop for – but I’m far from it. I have such a distinctive taste in clothing/shoes/jewelry/literature/movies/everything else that I just need to go shopping for that kind of stuff on my own. So lucky for my family, I composed a list of exactly what I want for Christmas to keep things nice and easy for them. Let’s discuss:

Things that beautiful Sarah wants for Christmas (I really did put that on the list):

    Miscellaneous:

  • Cash money
  • An oil change (I felt like such a grown up writing this one!)

The Body Shop:

  • Vitamin C Skin Boost
  • Nutriganics or Vitamin E eye cream
  • Blusher beads Ref. #63691 (because god forbid someone gets me the wrong shade!) 😉

Target:

  • Cheap moisturizer (emphasis on cheap)
  • Cheap facial scrub (double emphasis on cheap)
  • Box of hair dye (a years worth would be nice!)
  • Covergirl Flamed Out mascara (in the darkest shade of black)
  • Rimmel London Scandal Eyes eyeliner (also in the darkest shade of black)

  Hot Topic:

  • New bellybutton rings (I’ve been wearing the same few pieces of jewelry since I got my bellybutton pierced SIX YEARS AGO…I think it’s time for an upgrade!)

Aerie:

  • New panties!!! (Hey, a girl has needs.)

Victoria’s Secret:

  • New Dream Angels demi bra (Hey, a girl has needs.) 😉

Now you guys are probably thinking, “that’s the most boring Christmas wish list ever”. And guess what, you’re right – it really is. BUT, almost everything that I wrote down are things that I use in my every day beauty routine so it would be nice to be restocked in all of those items. I would love to find a bunch of new clothes for me under the tree, but the fact of the matter is: no one gets my taste in style right so everything is going to end up getting returned anyways. That’s what the cash money is for – some to save and some to shop the after Christmas deals with!

What really killed my charming young at heart persona this year was writing down that I wanted an oil change for Christmas. Haha, but the Little Red Love Machine is going to be needing one soon and the literal last thing that I want to do is sit in a stupid car repair shop where I’ll be:

  • A) Reading old magazines
  • B) Getting low-balled by the mechanic who will more than likely tell me that everything and the kitchen sink is wrong with my car because I’m a clueless girl who doesn’t know otherwise. Well, I am. And this happened during my last oil change and I did NOT appreciate it!

So yes, an oil change that I don’t have to be there for would be fantastic. Dad, I’m talking to you on this one!! ❤

So there you have it, this week’s Monday Update: Christmas Wish List Edition! What is on everyone’s wish list for the holiday that they’ll be celebrating this season? What was the best or worst gift that you’ve ever received? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Clip In Septum Trend – LAME!

Clip In Septum Trend – LAME!

Hey everyone and happy Hump Day! So a few days ago when I was getting the oil changed in the Little Red Love Machine, I read an issue of Vogue in the waiting room to pass the time. As I flipped through the pages of gorgeous photo shoots and glamorous clothing, I came across an article about the growing trend of the “clip in” septum ring. When I saw this article I literally laughed out loud and my first thought was “how lame!” My second thought was “stop being a freaking pansy and just get the piercing done!” I mean seriously? Anything “clip in” is for fifth graders. The full page spread on having a fake septum ring mentioned different celebrities that boast the real thing – Scarlett Johansson and Fka Twigs to name a few. Despite how much I don’t care for the big names in Hollywood, I couldn’t help but feel happy that their fabulous selves weren’t above sitting in a chair at a tattoo shop and having their septum get poked through the old fashioned way. If you can’t handle the piercing process, then don’t bother walking around with fake jewelry up your nose to fool people into thinking you’re a badass! The article discussed how convenient it is to be able to switch out your septum rings with new jewelry whenever you please without having to deal with the healing process of a freshly pierced septum. The author then proceeded to show different clip in pieces that started in the two hundred dollar price range and went up from there. How fucking ridiculous. If you went to the shop I go to in Ohio to get my work done, you could get your septum pierced and repierced FOUR TIMES for the cost of one over priced clip in ring. Fucking shameful. As all of you know I have quite the decorated nose – two studs on each nostril and one septum ring for a grand total of five piercings. I’ve gotten pierced and repierced over thirty times in my lifetime, so when I saw the article in Vogue raving about clip in facial jewelry of course I couldn’t help but laugh. For real, grow some balls and just get the piercing done. Let the piercing heal, and change out your jewelry through the hole that’s been pierced – NOT with a clip on!

septum

^^^ Power to the pierced! Another thing that’s really been bothering me in the fashion magazines that I thumb through on occasion has been the many articles and suggestions on how to rock the “punk” look. In almost every photo shoot, clothing ideas, and advice columns there always seems to be only two things: Black and piercings. PSA: There’s A MILLION different ways to sport a punk look without gothing out at Hot Topic or sticking a clip in ring on your nose or lip. Think 90’s grunge. Think a deep crimson lip, a dope pair of cross earrings, or an over sized shirt with the skinniest skinny jeans humanly possible. There’s no need to go overboard like these ridiculous articles are showing you. All of the clothing they feature look more like costumes, and in all reality NO ONE dresses like that. Not even the most hardcore self proclaimed “punks” in the world. You would think that fashion magazines would be more innovative in their ways of teaching their readers how to put together a punky cool outfit. Unfortunately, every article I’ve ever seen has lacked creativity and has stuck with everyone’s obviously false ideas of a “punk” look by drowning their models in a sea of black and an abundance of fake piercings. SHAMEFUL.

Alright, I had to get that off my chest and boy do I feel better! I hope all of you guys have a fabulous day! How do you feel about the clip in septum trend? What’s your favorite piercing or tattoo that you have? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Tattoos I Want!!!!

Standard
Tattoos I Want!!!!

Hello one and all! I hope you had a fabulous Monday! First things first, I just have to share this Wale song that I’ve been so obsessed with lately. It’s been on repeat all day, and I haven’t gotten annoyed yet!

^^^ This song used to play at PacSun when I worked there, and I loved it so very much, so I was really hyped when I heard it on the radio the other day. Give me love baby, NOT ENOUGH NOT ENOUGH JUST A TOUCH BABY!!!!! (Better believe I used to scream that part at my coworkers!!)

ANYWHO, there’s been a few tattoos that I’ve just been itching to get, so I made a few Pic Stitches today of the ideas that I’ve had as of late! (Note: All of these ideas aren’t set in stone, they’re just a hodge podge of things that I liked while I was paroosing the world wide web!)

Peter Pan: I would really love to get a Peter Pan tattoo in the future. It definitely would be a shout out to my forever friend Kate, whom you’ve read all about. Not only would it signify my friendship with her but it would really be a testament to how much I truly love the story. I’ve had the most fantastic time reading a chapter from the book every night before bed, and it’s brought me such joy and helped me escape to a happy place (Neverland, if you will! 😉 ). After reading the book, I’ve dreamed of Peter Pan quite often, and I’m so thankful that I can reach my own Neverland in my dreams!

IMG_1375[1]

Mermaid: My sister Kristen and I have wanted a matching tattoo for a while now, and a mermaid is the only thing we can agree on. I would absolutely love to get a water color style mermaid, preferably on my arm or my non tattooed shoulder blade. I love the idea of the mermaid having red hair, but not necessarily looking exactly like Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Kristen adores Ariel though so if that’s what she wants I would be fine with that. My favorite mermaid picture in the Pic Stitch I put together is the top right one. The only thing I would change about it would be her having an actual face instead of her luscious locks covering it up. Either way, I think it’s gorgeous!

IMG_1376[1]

Horus: I absolutely love Egyptian gods and goddesses. In case some of you readers don’t already know, I have a side piece of the goddess Isis. I would really like to get another Egyptian piece on my non tattooed side, preferably a god. Horus has really been speaking to me as of late. I love the ties that he has to Isis, depending on what story you choose to believe he could be her brother or her son. Either way, I think it’s beautiful. Horus is said to be the god of war and hunting, kingship, and some would say most importantly the sky. I particularly love his association with the sky, because I feel like I’ve truly been shooting for the moon lately and I know that Horus will be there to offer me his protection.

IMG_1377[1]

So there you have it, just a few ideas that I’ve been brainstorming. I’ve posted these pictures before, but here’s a recap of the tattoos that I already have:

IMG_0480WIN_20141027_143552

What tattoos or piercings have you guys been thinking of getting? If you could get one body mod done right now, what would it be? I’d love to hear from you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Goodnight! -Sarah

#Overit

Alright, mama needs a good venting session, so here we go. Within literally TWO days of having my septum pierced asides from the other four nose piercings I have, I’ve already had multiple instances of people being rude to me because of them. There were two examples that really got me down, and one of them actually just happened about five minutes ago. I’ve been feeling really shitty about it, so I need to tell someone about it. So why not tell all of my readers?

Example One: I was at the dentist yesterday and had to get X-rays taken just like any standard dental check up. The X-ray technician asked me to take my earrings out, and I happily obliged. She then asked if I could take my nose piercings out, and I explained to her that my septum was brand new, and my four nose piercings cause me legitimate physical pain when I take them out, so unfortunately I can’t. I was extremely polite and was in no way rude to her. After I told her my facial piercings couldn’t be removed she gave me the dirtiest look I’ve ever received and didn’t talk to me for the rest of the process of getting my X-rays taken. When I wished her holiday greetings she replied with “mhm”. I was appalled. For one: the X-ray technician was at least forty years old or older – does it really make you feel that good to show such hostility to someone twice as young as you? For two: the least you can do when someone wishes you seasons greetings is smile back and say “you too”. Is uttering TWO WORDS really that difficult??? Sorry I’m not sorry that the way I look offends you, but you shouldn’t treat me any different than any of your other patients. This experience happened yesterday morning and it put a tangible damper on the rest of my day.

Example Two: Like I said, this instance happened about five minutes ago when I was running an errand. I was waiting in the customer service line at Marc’s to pick up an item that my mother had left earlier in the day. While I was in line minding my own business, a fifty something year old lady walked past me and said “Woah! Look at those piercings!” The lady standing behind me in line chuckled at this comment. I could feel myself sinking lower and lower. I couldn’t even bring myself to look at her to say anything back. What am I? A fucking member of a freak show? Since when did someone’s personal appearance become a laughing stock to someone? I wouldn’t have gone up to this woman and say
“Woah! Look at those wrinkles!” at her expense, so why would someone not show me that same respect? I honestly thought that I was going to cry.

I am not someone to be gawked at. I am not someone to be laughed at. I am not someone to receive dirty looks while walking around or waiting in line and minding my own business. I am not going to be made to feel like I’m a low life human being for the way that I choose to look. People always think that I’m over reacting or over exaggerating when I talk about how much all of this upsets me. But why shouldn’t it? I’m entitled to my emotions, especially when someone is treating me as less than a human being. I am a good person. I am beautiful. I am not unapproachable because of the way I look.

IMG_1107[1]

I can’t wait for the day that I can walk around in public without being stared or snickered at. But until that day happens, please PLEASE treat everyone with respect. Black, white, purple, polka dot, covered in tattoos, or covered in piercings we are ALL humans who deserve to be treated with dignity.

Alright, rant over. I can’t say that I feel completely better, but this helped. Thanks for reading and listening to my sob story. It’s hard not to feel bad about it though. Have a fantastic Friday and an even better weekend! Spend it with someone you love! -Sarah
