Almost Autumn OOTD

Almost Autumn OOTD

Hi! Mother Nature has been playing sick and twisted games in the good ol’ A-K-ROWDY and has been flip flopping on a dime between pleasant cool temps and hot AF. This has been majorly killing my vibe because in my head fall starts when September hits lol. I just want a nice, crisp day damnit! Dressing for this weird limbo season has fluctuated from fall fits and booty shorts and there is literally no in between. On the bright side, I did get to bust out this Almost Autumn OOTD on a breezy day which sent my soul soaring. Check it out:

Button Down Top: Truth By Republic, TJMaxx

Bodycon Skirt: Originality, Dry Goods

Wedge Heels: BCBG, TJMaxx

Lock Necklace: Michael Kors, TJMaxx

The brooch style earrings were purchased forever ago from PacSun!

I recently purchased the army green Truth By Republic button down at TJMaxx and was so eager to wear it as soon as the weather allowed. I have the same top in navy and it is one of my favorites! The Truth By Republic tops fit me like a glove and I love being able to wear pieces that are more form fitting without the sensation of being too tight. They are the perfect little somethings to pair with a smart pair of jeans or sweet skirt and option B was what I went for. With the top pre-selected, this outfit really did build itself!

In the skirt department, I chose a darling bodycon by Originality that just screams fall! The pattern reminds me of retro wallpaper and the burnt orange that is primarily featured is my most beloved hue of autumn. The skirt and top were truly a match made in fall color heaven and I was able to pull from the small amount of sage green in the skirt to form cohesion with the button down. I wore the top tucked in to form a pseudo dress for a result that was both chic and sassy. I always like to show a little leg! 😀

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. I kept with the green theme for my heels and went for a cool pair of cutout wedges by BCBG. Like the skirt and the top, the green wasn’t a perfect match but it was close enough and the combo definitely makes the eyes dance between all of the different shades! For accessories I opted for a pretty pair of brooch style studs because I loved the neckline the top created and didn’t want to deter from it. Rather, I enhanced it by adding on a gorgeous Michael Kors necklace in blingy gold. With that, I was ready to enjoy a little taste of fall weather!

I can’t wait to style ALL of the fall OOTDs and share them with you. Stick around for so much more seasonal fashion fun! ❤

Have you updated your wardrobe for fall? What is your perfect fall temperature (Mine is fifty-five degrees!)? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Seasonal Changes And Home Preparedness

Seasonal Changes And Home Preparedness

Each new season brings its own special charm to our lives and homes. Think of the crisp air of autumn or the vibrant blooms of spring. As the world outside our windows changes, so do the needs of our homes. Getting ready for these shifts means you can kick back and enjoy what each season offers without stressing about unexpected house problems. Taking care of your home proactively not only protects your property but also makes your living space feel more comfy and secure all year long:

The shift between seasons is the perfect time to hit the reset button and freshen up your home. It’s like a natural nudge to do those tasks that keep your house running smoothly. In spring, that might mean a good deep clean and throwing open the windows to let in fresh air. In fall, it’s all about getting cozy and ready for colder weather. By matching your home care routine with the calendar, you create a rhythm that stops little issues from turning into big headaches. This way of thinking turns chores into a satisfying ritual of looking after your space.

Keeping track of everything that needs doing can feel a bit much, which is why a checklist is truly a homeowner’s best friend. Having a clear list helps you tackle tasks step-by-step, making sure you don’t miss anything important. For instance, spring is perfect for checking your air conditioning and cleaning windows, while fall is the time to inspect your heating system and clear out gutters. You can find a great seasonal home maintenance checklist to help you get started. For even more detailed advice, this home maintenance checklist offers excellent tips to keep your property in tip-top shape for every season.

Unfortunately, we’re not the only ones who react to seasonal changes. Pests are also on the move, and your home can look like a five-star resort to them. In spring and summer, bugs like ants and wasps get busier, hunting for food and new spots to build nests. As temperatures drop in the fall, rodents and other critters start looking for a warm place to spend the winter. They often sneak inside through tiny cracks and openings. When these uninvited guests become a real problem, professional pest control is usually the most effective and lasting way to protect your home.

While some maintenance tasks are seasonal, keeping an eye on things all year round is key to stopping problems before they even start. One of the best ways to do this is to seal up your home’s “envelope.” Regularly check your home’s outside for cracks in the foundation, gaps around pipes and utility lines, and damaged seals on windows and doors. Sealing these entry points with caulk or weatherstripping not only keeps pests out but also helps your home save energy. Simple habits like keeping your yard tidy, trimming overgrown bushes away from the house, and making sure water drains properly can also make your property much less appealing to pests.

You don’t need to be a home improvement guru to take simple steps that make a huge difference. You might even fall back in love with your home again! Adding a few easy habits to your routine can really cut down on the risk of pests and other household issues. Store all food, including pet food, in airtight containers. Wipe up crumbs and spills right away. Take out the garbage regularly and keep trash cans sealed. Fix leaky faucets and pipes promptly, because extra moisture attracts pests. Use screens on windows and doors, and repair any holes you find. Declutter storage areas like basements, attics, and garages to get rid of hiding spots.

These small actions really add up, creating a less welcoming environment for unwanted critters and giving you more peace of mind. Taking a few minutes each week to stay on top of these tasks can save you from dealing with a much bigger problem down the road!

Seasonal Decor Refresh: Easy Updates For Every Season

Seasonal Decor Refresh: Easy Updates For Every Season

Changing up your home’s decor with the seasons is a lovely way to feel more in tune with the world just outside your window. A few simple swaps can totally change how a room feels, making it fresh and new without a huge effort. It’s all about making your space reflect the energy of the current season, whether that’s the bright, hopeful vibe of spring or the snug comfort of winter:

When everything outside starts to bloom, it’s only natural to want to bring that fresh feeling indoors. Spring decor is all about light, air, and a sense of newness. A great place to start is by swapping out heavy winter fabrics for lighter ones, like linen or cotton. Think pastel throw pillows, a light-colored rug, or crisp white curtains that let the sunshine stream right in.

Bringing nature inside is another big part of it. A vase of fresh tulips or daffodils on your dining table instantly brightens things up. You can also add botanical prints to your artwork or fabrics. This is also the perfect time to do a good decluttering, which helps create a more open and spacious feel. Looking at different seasonal decor ideas can give you tons of ideas, from color palettes to flower arrangements, helping you nail that perfect springtime mood.

As the days get shorter and cooler, create a warmer, cozier home with rich textures and autumn-inspired colors. Add chunky knit blankets, velvet cushions, faux fur rugs, and shades like deep orange, mustard, burgundy, and forest green. Use warm lighting and candles to create a soft, inviting glow. Layered textures and gentle lighting can make your home into a cozy retreat from the cold.

Sometimes, a simple decor swap just doesn’t quite cut it when your home needs a refresh. If you feel like a room needs a bigger change, you might think about updates that go beyond just accessories. A fresh coat of paint is one of the most impactful things you can do. A new color can completely change the mood and energy of a space. Other small projects, like updating cabinet hardware in the kitchen or bathroom, or swapping an old light fixture for a modern one, can make a surprising difference. If you find your home needs more extensive work to truly feel right, you might start thinking about bigger renovations. These deeper updates can transform not just how your home looks, but how it functions and feels overall, making it a more enjoyable place to live all year round.

You definitely don’t need to spend a fortune to keep your home feeling current and stylish each season. There are plenty of budget-friendly ways to spruce up your home decor. One of the easiest tricks is to focus on textiles. Instead of buying brand new decorative pillows, just grab new covers to slip over the inserts you already have. The same goes for kitchen towels, bathmats, and throw blankets. Thrift stores and flea markets are fantastic places to find unique decor items. Look for interesting vases, picture frames, or small decorative pieces that you can easily add to your space. And don’t forget the power of nature! A bowl of pinecones in the fall, a jar of seashells in the summer, or a few branches in a tall vase can be beautiful, free decorations.

Seasonal updates can be a mindful way to appreciate your home and the present moment. Once the changes are made, take time to enjoy how they affect your mood and daily routine. Small seasonal touches can keep your home feeling personal, welcoming, and comforting!

New White & Red Glitter Nails

New White & Red Glitter Nails

Howdy! I am one of those people that isn’t a fan of seasonal nails because I’d rather my color palette work for a month rather than one day. I went into my pre-Christmas fill at Elysian Nails with that sentiment on my mind and was thinking some gold glitter. A festive touch sans full fledged holly jolly flare. So tell me why I ended up with the most Christmas-y nails ever?! Lol all of my sentiments went out the window when I saw these two colors in the nail polish book. I didn’t even put two and two together until the polish was on SMH! Check it out:

As I browsed the nail polish book, nothing was really screaming out at me until I was seeing red. They don’t call me Lil Red for nothing, I guess! The shade of red I selected is one of my all time favorites and I actually used it for my Halloween nails. I just love that deep shade of garnet and they remind me of Dorothy’s ruby slippers. Gold would have looked nice with this but glitter white hues were directly above the red and I forgot all about it. The white glitter I picked out looks like crushed diamonds and as they are a girl’s best friend I couldn’t say no!

After choosing my colors and sitting down at my tech’s station, I was too focused on chatting it up to reevaluate. My go to girl had the day off during my last fill and we had so much to catch up on! Life, books, TV shows, food, and ALL the things. By the time my nails were drying, I realized that the color palette is Santa suit chic and I just had to laugh. This is not my normal style at all for holiday nails but you know what? I kind of like it! Maybe the glitter has me distracted, maybe it’s just pure fun, or both but I can’t wait to tear into my prezzies with these perfectly Christmas talons. 😀

This fill had unexpected results but delighted me all the same. I think I’ll do gold and silver glitter for New Years so bring on more bling, baby!

Are you getting your hair or nails done for the holidays? What are you planning on getting? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Seasonal Friendly Reminders

Seasonal Friendly Reminders

Howdy!! The holiday season is a joyous time, but there is no denying that is can be highly stressful – especially for those who struggle to feel merry and bright around this time of year. I thought it would be a good idea to discuss some Seasonal Friendly Reminders today to help enhance the holidays for everyone – holly jolly or not. Let’s take a look at a few different ways to do so:

From someone who had an extensive tenure working retail, believe me when I say that holidays can bring out the absolute worst in people. In fact, a vast majority of the most terrible encounters I ever had with customers happened during the holidays. Look, we all get it. The stores are crowded, what you want might not be available, a seasonal employee might make a mistake – but it’s never EVER a reason to be mean to someone. Practice patience and if you can’t, stick to online shopping instead of ruining someone’s day.

There is a preconceived notion that this is the happiest time of the year and that it’s impossible to feel sad during the holidays. FALSE. This can actually be the hardest time of the year for those who have lost a loved one, battle with their mental health, or are suffering from an illness. Or it could be none of the above. Regardless, it is okay to feel sad and if you know someone who might be struggling, comfort them. Comments like “You can’t be sad, it’s Christmas” are not helpful because holidays don’t dictate someone’s happiness. Be there, lend an ear, and choose your words carefully – it could be exactly what that person needs!

Changing is part of what makes us human and we change all of the time whether we realize it or not. Some changes are more obvious than others – new tattoos, piercings, a hair cut, growing your hair, or losing/gaining weight. If whatever change you see in someone is not your personal cup of tea, Do. Not. Comment. On. It. Let’s repeat that: No comment is the best comment! Some of these changes could be a result of trauma or an illness and unless information is volunteered, the best rule of thumb is to please bite your tongue. 🙂

You truly have the power to make or break someone’s day so use it wisely. When all else fails, just be kind. Give a smile, a pleasant word, hold the door open for someone – small gestures like these could turn a bad day into something more tolerable. This really can be a sensitive time of the year so be sensitive of that. Spreading holiday cheer doesn’t have to be a huge production and Random Acts of Kindness do the job just fine!

Honestly, these are all good things to remember no matter the time of the year but it just hits different during the holidays!

Have you worked a seasonal job before? Have you ever had a bad holiday experience? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Tips For Dealing With Seasonal Allergies

Tips For Dealing With Seasonal Allergies

Seasonal allergies aren’t fun and when they roll around, it can feel frustrating to have to deal with them. They can often stop you from enjoying the warm weather, particularly when the pollen count is high. With that being said, it’s worth considering some extra advice when it comes to coping with seasonal allergies. Read on to find out more:

Keep The Home Clean:

Just like dust, pollen gets everywhere so it’s important that you’re staying on top of cleaning house. Try to maintain clean surfaces and look out for cleaning products that are going to help tackle pollen and any residue that often lingers around in the air and on surfaces from the outside world. Even though it gets hot, try to keep windows closed when you can or open them just slightly.

By having your home nice and clean on a regular basis, you’re more likely to reduce the amount of pollen that comes inside and have your own space that is safe for your allergies. The more you can be proactive with your cleaning, the better. There’s a helpful guide on how to beat spring allergies with carpet cleaning that’s worth looking at.

Avoid Peak Allergy Days:

Peak allergy days are often a lot to handle and so many will stay indoors. This is likely to be necessary for some but it’s advisable to keep up to date with the pollen count and see just how likely it is that you’ll experience an aggressive allergy reaction. If you have to go out, then try to avoid any areas where there will be lots of pollen in the air, ideally staying in a city environment rather than out in the countryside. It’s a frustration, but one that will certainly help you deal with your allergies by picking and choosing where you go when you’re out.

Have Medication On Hand:

Medication on hand is extremely important because you never know when an allergy reaction might occur and how bad it will get. Making sure that you have some medication on hand or in your home during these peak periods is essential and will help you to reduce the impact on your health and overall productivity throughout the day. There’s a lot on the market when it comes to medication, so do your research and of course, inquire with your doctor to make sure it’s okay for you to take.

Remove Outdoor Clothing When You Get Indoors:

Outdoor clothing of any kind should all be removed when you get into your home. Put the clothes in the wash immediately and you will minimize the spread of pollen throughout the home as a result. It’s all helpful in reducing the likelihood of an allergy reaction.

These tips should, hopefully, help you cope well with seasonal allergies regardless of how high that pollen count rises!
