Invest In Your Home – It Will Pay You Back!

Invest In Your Home – It Will Pay You Back!

Our homes are our sanctuary from the world, the place where we make happy memories with friends and family. But more than that, they are also the single biggest financial asset that you’re likely to own in your life. Most of us would like to own a home to pass on to our children as an inheritance or to provide a pension pot and some security in retirement, as well as having a nice place to live. And that means taking care of those four walls and everything in between. Not only for your own safety and enjoyment, but to protect your investment and hopefully allow it to mature, so that if you do come to sell your home, you make a good return. Read on to find out more:

Repair Damage Swiftly:

It should go without saying, but you’d be surprised how many people are either slow to repair damage to their homes or even just don’t see how run down their property gets over the years through general wear and tear. The trouble is that when we don’t attend to minor problems quickly, they often have the potential to develop into far more complex and costly to repair issues over time.

If your home suffers something like subsidence or storm damage, then make it a priority to contact a specialist company such as https://www.hlrestoration.com/storm-restoration/ to tackle the damage and prevent it from getting worse over time. Even simple things such as keeping on top of routine repainting, jet washing patios and decking, and making sure the gutters are cleared out and flowing properly can make a huge difference over time.

Add In Some Bathrooms:

In modern times, the perception of a luxury residence and the standards that people want from their accommodation have changed a lot. So modern houses are generally always built with a small ensuite bathroom to each bedroom. If you live in an older property, then this may not be the case – frequently there are less bathrooms and perhaps only one bedroom with an ensuite shower room.

One way to really boost value and the perception of your home, as well as making it more pleasant and functional to live in yourself, is to add a bathroom or two! If you have the space, then taking a little from a large bedroom or even converting a storage closet or finding a little extra space out of a hallway can give you enough room to include a shower, sink, and compact toilet. This is something buyers actively look for that really can improve the value of your property.

Reconfigure The Layout:

Sometimes a lot can be achieved simply by reconfiguring the existing layout of your home. Improve the flow and visualize how the space could work for you. Creating a large open plan kitchen and living space can completely change the way you live. Removing walls is not a complicated job if they are stud walls, but even if they are load-bearing, the right contractor can reinforce with steel beams and remove them. This will cost a little more, but it could well be worth it for the open plan layout of your dreams and modernizing your home for a future sale.

Use the tips above to give your home a huge boost in its value!

Cut Your Energy Bills With These Tips

Cut Your Energy Bills With These Tips

One of the many things that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on society is a rise in energy bills. After all, we are all spending a lot more time at home, so it is only natural that we will consume a lot more energy.

A study carried out in 2009 found that as a nation, the United States was wasting over $130 billion a year on energy. Energy and money that escapes through our roof, through the inefficient seals around our windows, through cracks and holes in the walls, and appliances and lights left switched on or in standby mode. More than ten years later and a massive increase in the technology that we use on a day to day basis and you can imagine how much that amount has probably jumped up by since then.

The one good thing, however, is that our energy consumption is something we have power over, so we can take measures to reduce it. Here, we will look at some ways you can cut back on your bills:

Tackle your temperature:

Depending on the season, the cooling down or heating up of your home does not only bring you comfort during the day but may be the only thing that gives you a pleasant and restful night of sleep.

In the colder months, endeavor to keep the temperature between 18-20 ° C. Any degree higher than this will add up to 10% to your bill. Test the auto timers on your heater, too. By raising your heating time by one hour a day, you can save up to ninety hours of heating costs over the winter.

Once the warmer months have come back, strive to keep your air conditioner above 24 ° C. Any degree lower will add 10% to your electricity bill. Make sure your house is sealed well so that they work efficiently and keep all of the heat or the cool air in.

Increase your insulation:

Think about why you wear a hat in the winter. It is because your head is where you lose most of your heat. The same goes for your home – your roof is the head of your home. By making sure your attic space has the very best insulation possible from somewhere like https://www.insulatekansascity.com/attic-insulation/, you can reduce the amount of heat lost from your house and save you plenty of cash, particularly over the winter months.

Audit your appliances:

Old, outdated appliances can be power-hungry and can really add to your energy bill. If you have older air conditioning units, a flue gas heating system, or water heaters and fixtures, you might want to think about an upgrade. Modern appliances are made to function more efficiently. They also will be using the latest in technology and assembly methods, which is beneficial should you need repairs. It can be hard to find replacement parts for outdated models. Sure, it costs an outlay of money initially but, in the long term, it will really end up saving you. If updating these appliances isn’t possible, it would be a good idea to have an expert in, for example, Hot Water System Installations (or whatever system is problematic) to come by for a maintenance check.

Cutting your energy bills does not need to involve anything dramatic or necessarily expensive. A few minor tweaks to your lifestyle here and there and making sure everything is working efficiently is enough to save you hundreds of dollars every year – global pandemic or not.

Low Budget Choices To Boost The Price Of Your Property

If you’re looking for ways to boost the price of your property, but you’re currently working on a tight budget, then you might be finding the task particularly difficult. However, this doesn’t have to be the case, and you can actually find some low budget choices that will help you boost the price quite nicely. If you want to know more about what these options are, keep reading down below:

A Fresh Coat Of Paint:

Imagine if you walk into a home and see that the paint is peeling all over the place or that there are marks across the walls that are easily visible. If you’re trying to increase the price of your property, then this just isn’t going to help, which means that a new coat of paint is in order. Head to your local home depot store, and you will find a whole range of colors for you to choose from. You can go with the same kind that you had last time or you can change it up seeing as now is your chance. But, if you’re going to make a change, then you’ve got to be conscious of the other furniture in the room so that you don’t end up clashing.

Fun With Flooring:

Or, how about altering the flooring of your property? Rather than upgrading the flooring completely, you can think about adding something to it. This is always going to depend on the type of flooring that you have because you’ll need to make choices like Modular Vs. Epoxy Flooring. Epoxy flooring is ideal for concrete floors and will provide a glass of water aesthetic sure to dazzle. If you DIY this job, you’ll spend no more than $100. Sounds like a steal!

Let There Be Light:

Alternatively, you might want to think about changing the lighting in your home. There are lots of possibilities here. For instance, you can think about adding some new light fixtures to your property. Light fixtures can be surprisingly cheap and will easily fit into a standard home renovation budget. You can also find a lot of different styles so you should be able to achieve a wide range of different possibilities with your home redesign.

Lighting also has practical benefits if you are selling the home. With the right lighting fixtures, you will be able to avoid shadow in the room. Shadows will always make the room look significantly smaller and this will make a buyer think twice about investing in your property. Or, you could go tech-heavy with this choice. Get color changing bulbs controlled by a smart system integrated into your property. The tech is more than affordable now and will definitely impress a potential buyer.

How To Save Money When Buying Electrical Goods

How To Save Money When Buying Electrical Goods

We live in a fast-paced consumer society where all of the electrical items that we buy are out of date by next year. With many households changing their appliances and tech on a very regular basis, it means that there is a lot of waste. Perfectly good items often end up getting discarded and this has a very real and obvious impact on the environment.

But many people are considerate about these factors and will sell on any unwanted electrical items once they have been replaced. Or, where the value is relatively low, and there is still some use to be had, they may give them away using a service such as a freecycle site.

You can save money on your electricity bill by choosing the right provider. However, if you are savvy and want to save money on an item and are not too bothered about having all of the very latest features, then you may want to take a look online to see what you can find for free or very cheap:

Printers:

One electrical item that is often offered up for next to nothing or even for free are printers. On the other hand, vinyl printers are much more expensive but a worthy investment if you have a business. With new features getting added all of the time, many people feel the need to upgrade. But, if you are just after something that you can use to print or scan the occasional document or photograph, then you may find that getting a used model is just as good as buying new. Before you get your new used printer, check online to make sure that you can buy the right ink cartridges for it still.

Appliances:

Kitchen appliances such as washing machines, fridges, and freezers, often get replaced. With the internet of things on the rise, people want an appliance that they can control from their smartphone from anywhere in the world. But if you are not interested in all of that, you could get a perfectly reasonable appliance for very cheap.

Before you take it, make sure that you check to see that there are no nasty noises coming from it when it is working. Washing machines that rattle about when they are in use may be on their way out and, in reality, it is probably not worth you taking it in that condition.

Computers:

If you need a computer for the basics such as web browsing and working on documents, then why not get a second hand one? Unless you are gaming or using the computer for a lot of complex operations, then you will be able to get a computer that suits your needs very cheaply.

The things that you need to look for when you get a second hand computer are that the hard disk has been cleared before you get it. It should have a new installation of the operating system ready for you to set up as you like. Check to make sure that the laptop batteries still hold their charge, and that everything boots up and works as it should.

Reusing electric goods helps save the environment and you some money. Try this option out when you’re ready for a new printer or computer!

Affordable Home Improvements To Refresh Your Interiors

Standard
Affordable Home Improvements To Refresh Your Interiors

Making home improvements is something that we do all the time. Whether it is purchasing a brand new rug, re-painting your living room, or doing a deep clean, you are improving your home. You’re making it better than what it was previously, and this is a natural instinct for many people. However, affordable home improvements that refresh the interior of your home is not always easy. Finding what you can do that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg but makes the inside of your property look fantastic is pretty challenging, so let’s take a look at a few options here:

Repaint your room:

Instead of focusing on repainting the entirety of your house, you should focus on repainting one room at a time. You only need about one bucket of paint to do this and a spare afternoon. It will make such a difference when you walk into a room and it looks brand-new, clean, and pristine. It can be a fun way to bond with somebody as well, because you’re working together to accomplish a goal, and you’ll find that a sense of banter and camaraderie naturally flows.

Replace the flooring:

The average floor is subjected to a lot of punishment. It’s stepped on, has bits of food dropped on it, has mud tracked through it, and there is no denying that your floor will need a refurbishment from time to time. Doing this can often give a new lease of life to what otherwise was a plain room.

Carpet is often a good idea for this particular exercise, offering both warmth and comfort, and at the same time looking neat and modern. If you purchase from a trusted provider like https://carpettogo.com/, then you will have absolutely no issues in redecorating your floor.

Get some decorations:

One of the best things that you can do is get some decorations for your home. There are a lot of things which aren’t that expensive and it’s important to remember that decorations don’t need to be big and ostentatious, so much as just small and decorative. They complement a room, but they don’t make it.

Something like a plant or a painting will be a good idea, and they aren’t usually too pricey. They will help to brighten up a room and offer something different in the way of texture and color. Pick a great statement piece and watch your room transform.

All things considered, these are just a few different options that you have available to you when it comes to making affordable home improvements. It’s not always easy to do so, but there are moments when you have to look after your rooms and change up some of the elements in your house to make sure that everything stays fresh and vibrant.

It’s worthwhile to experiment with different options, textures, colors, and designs because this will help you to get the best possible interior. Your property is often a point of pride, so it is important to look after!

How To Get The Best Price For Your House (Without Breaking The Bank!)

Standard
How To Get The Best Price For Your House (Without Breaking The Bank!)

If you are taking the plunge and selling your house, there is one thing that will drive the wholesale, and that is getting the very best price for your home. While there is a lot of information around on the internet telling you to spend here and spend there, there are, in fact, some remarkably cheap ways to add some value to your home. Of course, you might find someone who might like to buy your house as-is, and this can be a very lucrative option if you need a quick sale. However, it’s also perfectly possible to spruce things up to appeal to a range of other buyers too!

In this post, we are going to be taking a look at some inexpensive and free ways to add value to your home, and we will even take a look at what buyers really want to see when they view a house:

Why Make Changes If You’re Selling:

The most important thing to realize when it comes to selling your home is that the market is extremely competitive. So, in order to ensure you can sell your home as quickly as possible, you will need to make some moves that aren’t being made by other sellers. This first and foremost includes making necessary repairs and modifications because the last thing a person wants are endless projects once they move in. Major issues like mold will need to be solved immediately. To start this process, simply enter a search for “Mold remediation denver” (or your local area) to get help from the experts and make your home way more marketable.

When buyers visit homes, they are looking at every little detail, and in order for you to not only make a sale but also get the best possible price, there are some things that need to be addressed. The number one thing buyers want for their money is value, and when it comes to value, they really want space. You should be looking to make your house stand out above any others in your neighborhood that may also be up for sale, and doing all of these things is far easier than you may believe.

Of course, making changes is all up to your situation. If you need to move ASAP, then chances are you don’t want to deal with the extra hassle. To expedite things, you might want to consider different companies who will purchase your home for you. Do your research to find out how we buy houses fast to find the buyer that’s right for you.

Improve Your Curb Appeal:

The very first thing you should be doing for your house is to make it look welcoming. Let’s be honest; if your house looks like 112 Ocean Avenue, you may have a little trouble selling up.

If, however, you put in a little effort by taking care of the garden and aesthetics of the home from the outside, you will find you are onto an instant winner. People will often judge a house by what it looks like on the outside, so you may even consider updating the exterior paintwork a little, as well.

Another thing that will often go down well is if if your driveway is clean and paved. The best way to get your driveway looking its best will obviously be Pressure Washing. While most people would consider doing this themselves, they would very rarely have access to industrial-strength units, and this is what would be required for a job like this. Your best bet is to do a search for “pressure washing service in Owasso, OK” or your area and leave this job to a professional.

Give The Illusion Of More Space:

If there is one thing that is going to either reduce or increase the price that will be offered on your home, it will all come down to space. It’s important to remember that when a buyer comes to view your home if they are interested, they will also be looking for anything that can be used as a negotiation point. It is your job to preempt what they may deem as a problem and fix it before they ever see it.

The best tip that can be given when it comes to ensuring you get the right price for your home is to start filling some moving boxes before you even have your first house viewer. By simply boxing up items that you know you will not use, you will end up dramatically reducing the number of items in the house.

When you reduce the number of items in the house, you give natural light the ability to hit areas that it usually wouldn’t. When the light penetrates every corner of the room, you will find that every room in the house has the illusion of looking bigger.

Give Buyers The Canvas They Want:

The most sought after thing when people head out and start to view homes is something they can visualize living in. More often than not, if the house they are viewing is decorated with dense colors and items personal to the current owner, while this may be homely to you, it won’t be to the potential buyer, in fact, it will be quite off-putting.

The best possible thing you can do is to give them a completely neutral canvas. By painting the house in neutral colors, this will allow the buyer to visualize how they see the house in their own mind and is one of the best selling points that you can offer.

In Conclusion:

As you can see, these are some simple solutions for giving you the best possible price when you are selling your home. While they may all seem very basic at their core, they are all vital when it comes to what is wanted from buyers in the real estate market nowadays. When it comes to selling houses, it’s not as easy as it once was, and buyers are more easy to scrutinize than ever before.

If you are selling up and want the best possible price, you will need to put in a little effort and a little cash in order to see a very handsome return.

Where Can You Cut Costs When Working On Your Kitchen?

DIY has long been a popular way to make your home look better without spending a small fortune on it. A lot of people are choosing to go down this route with their homes, working hard to make changes by themselves. Of course, even when you do all of the hard work yourself, it will always be difficult to avoid spending money on a room like a kitchen. There are simply too many expensive items which go into this space.

When planning to renovate a kitchen, you need to get prices for everything and compare those prices to see which is best. You will need to get prices for a skip, flooring, cupboard doors, and possibly even screws and hinges among other necessities. To help you out with this, this post will be exploring some of the best ways to save in the kitchen, covering each of the elements you’ll need to buy:

Cabinets & Surfaces:

This is usually the priciest part of most kitchens. The cabinets and surfaces you have can cost a lot, but you need them to be able to use the room effectively. Thankfully, people often sell this part of their home when they renovate. You can find loads of kitchens cabinets on sites like eBay, and many of them will come in excellent condition. While you have to collect them yourself, this option will be far cheaper than buying something new, while also giving you the opportunity to get features which you may not have been able to afford brand new.

Appliances:

Appliances are another area which can be expensive when you’re renovating your kitchen, leaving a lot of people to keep their old machines for this job. Like the cabinets, though, you can often find appliances in great condition on the used market. This is always a lot cheaper than buying the items new.’

Flooring:

While it may seem like something which should be nice and cheap, flooring can often be one of the priciest parts of a new kitchen. With tiles being so expensive, a lot of people opt for plastic flooring, though this rarely looks perfect. There are a lot of discount tile retailers around the web, giving you access to this resource for far less than you’d pay full price. It’s well worth hunting for deals on items like this, as this can drastically reduce the price of your kitchen, while also keeping it looking good.

Sinks, Taps, & Other Accessories:

Finally, as the last area to think about, it’s time to consider sinks, taps, and other accessories which finish your kitchen. These will always be the most noticeable objects in your kitchen, and this makes it worth spending more on them than the other areas in this post. You can usually find good second hand deals for them, but buying them from regular stores shouldn’t be too hard, as long as you’ve saved enough money on the other parts of the room.

Building a new kitchen will be a challenge. Not only will you have to find everything you need at the lowest prices, but you will also need to put the room together. You’re going to need to do some learning to achieve the best results, but these skills will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Dollar Tree Haul

Dollar Tree Haul

Hello everyone! If there’s one thing that Lil Red doesn’t believe in, it’s paying full price for just about anything. So, it’s pretty shocking that I really didn’t get into shopping at the Dollar Tree until this past year. One of my clients loves that store and I always end up there at least one time a week. It wasn’t until I took a closer look around until I realized that the Dollar Tree is friggen awesome and I have had much success shopping there, especially since moving into my apartment. Don’t believe me? Check out this big ol’ haul for yourself:

tree

For twenty items I paid twenty dollars altogether and I am confident that if I purchased all of this at a normal grocery store it would easily be over fifty dollars. The Dollar Tree pulled through in the clutch for me at just the right time because after all of my holiday shopping this month, my credit card bill is going to be huge. BUT, I also have no food in my apartment. This will definitely tide me over until my bill turns over in December and I can do a bigger grocery shopping trip.

Also, can we please talk about the potato gnocchi and Arizona nacho trays?! They are both SO freaking good and the only thing that isn’t pictured is the nachos that I already ate, lol. They are a perfect snack for when I get home from work and I was so stoked that the Dollar Tree that I was at had them that I just had to get six, lol! The gnocchi is also a quick, easy, and delicious meal that my boyfriend and I both love and will be a perfect, simple dinner after we’ve both had a long day.

I have never quite understood the people that considered themselves above discount shopping but I, for one, will never be. Compliments of shopping at TJMaxx and Marc’s (a discount grocery store in my neck of the woods), I am sure that I’ve saved over thousands throughout the years and that ballin on a budget train isn’t going to end any time soon!

What is your favorite discount store? How do you ball on a budget for your grocery shopping? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
