Ruby Tulip Launch!!

Ruby Tulip Launch!!

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday! This is a very exciting day because lifewithlilred’s very first signature scent is here in the form of Ruby Tulip, a roll on fragrance oil. Ruby Tulip was created by the unbelievably talented scentstress of Angie’s Bath & Body – a dear friend, Angela. Her and I collaborated on this scent and she took what little ideas I had and turned them into a beautiful fragrance. Ruby Tulip is available for purchase on Angela’s Etsy shop and with shipping will be just over fifteen dollars. A total smell goods steal!

As I pondered what to say about this scent, I hit a brick wall. Especially because Angela’s description of Ruby Tulip on her site is simply perfect. So, I’m taking the stumped wordsmith’s route here and sharing that with you because I literally couldn’t have said it better myself:

RUBY TULIP CUSTOM PERFUME – 1/3 oz. (roll-on)

This a very special creation. A dear friend of mine asked me to create something special for her and her beloved blog readers. And so I did.

RUBY TULIP is made from all natural ingredients and with pure love. It took almost 2 months to get all of the essential oils to work perfectly together and now it’s ready for the world. It’s a citrus scent, but lightly. It wears very well and may only need 1 touch up throughout the day.

INGREDIENTS: Fractionated Coconut oil, lavender essential oil, lemongrass essential oil, rosemary essential oils, sweet orange essential oil, and a smidge of honeysuckle fragrance oil.

You have the option of adding rose petals or ordering without. The rose petals are a beautiful addition to the perfume.

Ruby Tulip is packaged in a 1/3 glass roll-on bottle w/cap. It will be shipped in a black roll-on box and organza bag via USPS 1st Class Mail.

I truly hope that you love this scent as much as I do.

Thanks,
Angela

^^^ Told you I couldn’t have said it better myself!!

I want to thank Angela again for the hundred millionth time for creating Ruby Tulip for me but most importantly for all of you! Angela is an incredible businesswoman and you can check out her latest ventures on my most recent Accessory Story. While checking out Ruby Tulip’s page on Angela’s Etsy shop, be sure to treat yourself to some more divine bath and body care goodies like her body butters and sugar scrubs – I promise you that they won’t disappoint!

The Ruby Tulip Launch is a go and I am so excited to finally be able to share it with all of you! Who plans on making a Ruby Tulip purchase? What should Angela’s and my next fragrance be called? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

It’s In The Bag – Embroidered Beauty Edition

It’s In The Bag – Embroidered Beauty Edition

Hi everyone and welcome to a new edition of It’s In The Bag! It’s been a while since I purchased a new purse and it hasn’t exactly been a priority of mine to get a new one until my latest online buy. My newest bag is from Imoshion and all of their products are made from PETA approved vegan materials which is very important to me. My Embroidered Beauty purse was unintentionally introduced to me by my mom who was showing me an outfit that she thought was cute in Redbook magazine. The outfit was fine but my eyes went straight to the accessories. A gorgeous dusty teal, floral embroidered, fringed purse better known as Imoshion’s Bertie style bag. Take a look:

bertiebertie1bertie2

^^^ SO. PRETTY!

Like all things in my wardrobe from clothing and shoes to accessories is that when I see something, I know right away if I like it or not. If I don’t like the item, I won’t even give it a second glance. However, if it falls into the like category, there’s a ninety-nine percent chance that the heels, hat, or bangle bracelets are going home with me. This beautiful bag definitely fell into the more than like category because I freaking loved it.

What sold me initially on the bag was actually the color. I have another purse that is a similar shade to my Bertie bag and it is one of my favorites. You would be amazed at how difficult it is to find a purse in that hue so when I first saw it, I was instantly drawn to it. The amazing embroidery, fringe, and somewhat bucket style shape was just a nice afterthought. The fifty dollar price tag was also something that I considered really reasonable and the free shipping was a great added bonus.

It took a little over a week for my bag to arrive all the way from LA to little old Akron, Ohio and the anticipation was freaking killing me! So, needless to say, when my package from Imoshion arrived yesterday, I was over the moon. I was really impressed with the care that they took to pack the bag safely in the box. It was kept inside a laundry style bag and tucked inside hot pink tissue paper and bubble wrap which made me happy. There’s nothing that I hate more than when a company does a poor job on shipping their products so Imoshion definitely gets an A+ in that regard.

So the shipping was great but the beautiful bag that was hidden beneath the paper and bubble wrap was simply divine. The quality of the purse was so high and it was just beautiful to look at. The suede was soft, the embroidered flowers were vibrant, and the teal shade of the bag was even more amazing in person. As soon as I walked in the door with the package, I was already dumping out everything in the purse that I was using to transfer into my new bag. I am SO excited to have such a stunning accessory hanging from my hip and I am prepared to recommend the Imoshion website to everyone who compliments it. I would without a doubt shop with them again and their Bertie bag is truly the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

So there you have it, the latest issue of It’s In The Bag: Embroidered Beauty Edition! What is your favorite store to shop at for accessories? What does your favorite purse look like? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Hello Kitty Pink & Black Nails

New Hello Kitty Pink & Black Nails

Hii everyone and happy Thursday! I just returned from a lovely afternoon at the salon because homegirl needed a fill. After going to a different salon to get my set of acrylics on, I returned to home base and went back to my normal salon for the fill. I don’t know, I just wasn’t feeling the other one. 1) The lady was scary. 2) She hurt my nails like a mother. 3) They charged five dollars extra for long nails, which is annoying. It felt good to be back in familiar territory and I think that my nails turned out really nice! I went with the light glittery pink from OPI’s Hello Kitty collection and, of course, BLACK! Take a look but bear in mind that pictures really don’t do them justice:

pink

Not only was it nice to see all of my favorite nail techies again but it was also fabulous to get my middle finger crosses back! I missed them!! If you recall from last time, I was too scared to ask the lady who did my set for it. Yikes! I do miss my former nail tech, Vinny, terribly but good ol’ Steve did a bang up job so my tried and true salon is where I will stay forever and ever, amen. ❤

What color of nail polish are you currently wearing? What is your favorite color of polish to wear? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hiiii everyone and happy Thursday! I have come to realize that I’m not the best at posting some Sarah Selfies every now and then on lifewithlilred. But, thanks to a lazy day, that is about to change! And what better time to do it than on Throwback Thursday considering both of these were taken a week or two ago?! SCORE.

selfieeeselfiee1

So, there’s that. Lol.

Selfies can seriously be either the most fantastic or most stressful thing of your life. I’ll tell ya, there’s nothing better than taking a fabulous picture on the first few clicks of your camera. When you’re feeling yourself and the lighting is giving you all the love, it feels like the hallelujah chorus should be singing your praises any second.

But, god forbid, that your pics are just not working. I can think of few things that are more frustrating than when you’re looking fab and can literally not take a “good” picture to save your life! Whether the lighting is wonky, you can’t make the perfect face, or your palms are sweaty (knees weak, arms are heavy), a selfie shoot that is going wrong freaking SUCKS. It’s like…you know you’re looking Instagram worthy so why in the name of all that is holy is it not translating to one measly picture. Yeeesh!

So, here’s to you: the selfie queens that can take a gorgeous picture about 99.9% of the time. I admire the hell out of you and salute you. Maybe, if Sarah Selfie Shoots weren’t so freaking annoying half of the time, I could aspire to be on your level!

It only felt right to upload some Selfie Spam today and my hope for all of you is nothing but perfect selfies in the future! What are your tricks and tips for a super like-worthy selfie? How do you choose your favorite picture when literally all twenty of the ones that you took look exactly alike? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

How To Incorporate Your Love Of Beauty Into Your Career

How To Incorporate Your Love Of Beauty Into Your Career

These days, makeup is becoming a hotter and hotter trend every day. From contouring to strobing and knowing which shade of Kylie’s liquid lipsticks is which and whether or not they’re better than Colourpop, we really have our work cut out to know what exactly is going down in the world of beauty. But if it comes naturally to you, if you spend hours on YouTube looking at the latest beauty gurus before learning to perfect your own cut creases, then a career in makeup and beauty might just be for you. Here are some ideas to help get you started:

Retail: If you love talking to people and you really know your stuff about makeup, then you could consider working in retail. From high end specialist beauty stores to department store beauty counters, you can find a perfect match for you whether you love drugstore brands or you refuse to touch your face with a beauty blender that isn’t the ‘official’ one. A lot of people who work in beauty retail spend their time recommending products to others, so it’s important that you really know your stuff about what primers work for which skin types and how to boost people’s confidence.

Lil Red loved working beauty retail!

Treatments: Working in a salon is perfect for people who love talking to their customers and befriending them – not only will this improve both of your days but it’ll also help you to get plenty of repeat business! Make sure that you’re well trained in whatever beauty area you want to focus on, whether that’s styling hair or giving a waxing course a go. It’s important to be fully qualified in all areas if you work at a beauty salon, particularly if you want to charge good prices and have people continue to return for some pampering.

Ahhhhh 🙂

Makeup Artists: If you’ve been married, been to prom, or any other sort of special day, then you’ll know just how valuable the skills of makeup artists are. Makeup artists are able to pick out people’s best features and emphasize them to make them look like an even more gorgeous, airbrushed version of themselves. Make sure that you’ve trained and that you’ve practiced on plenty of people other than yourself to get a full range of looks in your portfolio and set up a site that looks fully professional, along with making business cards to hand out at networking events to get the word out about your craft.

Special Effects: If you’ve always had a flair for the dramatic, then special effects makeup might be for you. Some people spend time perfecting their highlight, but people who are into special effects have probably spent way more time making themselves up to look like various celebrities and attaching zips to their faces for grotesque Halloween looks. Practice by yourself at home to start with – buy books and watch tutorials on how to create the perfect wound or bruise effect. Then, start investing in special products that will help you build up your skills. Finally, enlist some very forgiving friends who don’t mind walking around looking as though they’re horribly scarred for you to practice on!

February 2017 Finishes

February 2017 Finishes

Hi everyone and happy weekend! The month of February seemed to whizz by and I’m thankful for it because I love the spring time so I am SO ready for March. I didn’t use up too many products this month but I did get to use a lotion from one of my favorite Bath & Body Works scents so take a look at my empties and then let’s discuss:

feb1.jpeg

Would I Use Again?

  • Bath & Body Works French Lavender & Honey lotion: YES!!!
  • The Body Shop Fiji Green Tea exfoliater: YES
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E moisturizer: YES

Why/Why Not?

B&BW Lotion: French Lavender & Honey has skyrocketed to one of my favorite Bath & Body Works scents. My best friend got me this for my birthday last year, I think, and I just now got around to using it. It’s weird, because normally I don’t like lavender – I despise it, actually. But this scent is the farthest thing from lavender that I can think of! It has all of these delicious floral hints to it but the honey scent softens it into something that’s so light and pretty and I just love it. I really want to get the eau de toilette of it soon because the bottle is so pretty and, of course, it smells delicious! I finished this product after six uses.

TBS Exfoliater: The Fiji Green Tea scent from The Body Shop is admittedly not my favorite but I do love using their exfoliaters when I’m shaving. This scrub got passed down to me by my mom as it came in the gift set that she got because she loves the perfume. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get this exact scent again but I wouldn’t say no to it either. The Body Shop’s exfoliaters give me such an exact and close shave, so the scent doesn’t matter too much to me! I finished this travel sized product in three uses.

TBS Moisturizer: You guys already know how much I love The Body Shop’s Vitamin E moisturizer. This cream is so light and soft yet lush and hydrating and it always leaves my skin feeling perfect. It absorbs quickly, smells great, and sits well under makeup. What more could you want in a moisturizer? This product took me about a month and a half to finish.

Although I didn’t finish up too many bath and body and skin care goodies this month, I still got to use some of my favorite products to treat myself with so I would still say that the month of February was very successful! I am currently using some Philosophy products that I got gifted with so I’m excited to tell you all about them in March!

So there you have it, my February 2017 Finishes! What products did you use up this month? What are some of your favorite scents from TBS or B&BW? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Major Body Shop Haul

Standard
Major Body Shop Haul

Hello everyone and happy Thursday! So The Body Shop recently had a forty percent off sale online that I took full advantage of on Valentine’s Day. I decided a while ago that the next time TBS had a good percentage off sale, that I would order a year’s supply of all of my must have products so that I wouldn’t have to spend the year chasing the best deals. Not only did I get all of my necessities for a fraction of the cost, but I also got two body butters for FREE! Take a look at my haul and let’s discuss:

major.jpeg

The Haul:

  • 4 Vitamin C Skin Boosts
  • 1 Nutriganics Eye Cream
  • 2 Vitamin E Moisturizers
  • 2 Brush On Radiances
  • 2 British Rose Body Butters (free!)
  • 2 sample products (also free!)

The Total: $110

So normally I don’t like to post about how much I spend on myself BUT this was such a great deal that I really felt the need to talk about it in its full extent. For about twelve dollars a pop, I was able to get everything that I needed (for the most part) for an entire year. That’s huge. Not only was I completely thrilled with the amount that I spent, but I was also so happy to get two free body butters out if it! For Valentine’s Day, TBS was offering a free British Rose body butter, lotion, shower gel, or bubble bath with a fifty dollar purchase so of course I went with the body butter as it was the best value. I can’t say that I totally love the British Rose scent but beggars can’t be choosers and they will still be a nice addition to my lotion hoard!

You guys already know that I love to shop and I rarely have a problem with spending money BUT I always look for the best deal when I’m making a purchase. I really felt like I was getting the best value for my money with this online haul. I mean, 110 bucks for a year’s supply of your skin care necessities? Hello! Of course the moisturizers will need restocked but that’s what Target and TJMaxx is for as well as my June birthday!

I am so SO happy with my Major Body Shop Haul and am looking forward to a year of barely having to make any skin care purchases. That in itself made this order money well spent! What are some of your favorites from TBS? What skin care item can you not live without? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Springtime Style On A Budget

If you are yearning for some new spring style items to add to your wardrobe but can’t afford or don’t want to buy new clothes or accessories, here are some ways to celebrate springtime without hurting your bank account:
1. Affordable Shops – If you are wanting some new floral clothes or just a new item in spring colors, check out shops like Ross or TJMaxx. They get new cute tops, bottoms, and even shoes for each season plus have designer items with prices that are a steal. Sometimes you have to scour the clothing racks for the perfect thing but you are guaranteed to always find something that you’ll love.
2. Accessorize – You can celebrate and update your spring fashion with cute little accessories such as hair flowers, floral head bands, scarves, jewelry, and more. Stores like Claire’s or similar places carry an enormous array of cute seasonal accessories for great deals.
3. Makeup – If you don’t want to go crazy with a new wardrobe just for spring, you can celebrate the season with your makeup. This time of the year, you can find pastel and springy colored makeup like eye shadows and lipsticks in pinks, greens, and pretty shimmery colors. You don’t need to go to department stores or even Sephora if you don’t want to or are on a budget. CVS and Walgreens drugstores always have a huge selection of great quality makeup in every color that you can imagine for amazing prices.
4. Hair – If you’re interested in trying more of a punk or rocker look for spring, you can buy clip in extensions in an array of different colors almost anywhere, including online. Or you can get hair chalk, which is temporary and can be found in drugstores and beauty supply shops. You’ll definitely have your own original look for the spring, while utilizing the “it” colors like jewel floral tones and pastels.
5. DIY- If you’re an artistic or creative person, then your spring style ideas are pretty much endless. You can use your talent to make your own items and accessories with affordable supplies from places like Jo-Ann’s or other craft and fabric shops. Some examples include chokers made with silk ribbons in floral colors with cute charms or your own flower hair pieces, brooches, and corsages.
These are just a few ideas to help you create your own original look and style for the upcoming season. Let these ideas and tips inspire you. Have fun with them and have a most wonderful spring.
Love, Carlie
