Spring Picnic OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Spring Picnic OOTD! Last Friday, Johnny and I made a trip to Misnyland to hang out with Tim Misny and contest winners for a picnic. We all had an awesome time and it was definitely a straight shot to the nostalgia because a party like the one we attended was how I met Tim in the first place. It was so fun to meet other Misny super fans and I think it’s just the tops to see people so happy thanks to my new boss’ efforts. I’m just hoping they didn’t see these moments when I was taking OOTD shots:

Post bloopers, I like to talk about a funny occurrence or something random. I guess this story is going to fall under the random category… I don’t know about all of you, but I liveΒ for throwback music. The 90s and 2K era for pop, rap, and alternative just can’t be beat and it’s nice to know that my musical taste stunted around 2010 lol. Because I drive a lot for work, I have grown increasingly fond of radio programs. I love playing the trivia games on 107.9 and listening to the Jeremiah Show on 96.5. My favorite thing, though, is Throwback Thursday on 88.1.

88.1 is a super cool station that is run by the students at the University of Akron and is what I listen to the most frequently. Every Thursday, they play throwback hits all day and it makes for the best day ever. The irony is not lost on me that these students were probably not even born when these songs were coming out! But I digress. As the weather has turned lovely in Ohio, it made my last Throwback Thursday even better than usual. With the windows down and music blasting, it almost made me forget that I was on my way to work. But, hey, that early Britney Spears is going to do it for me every time!

I have officially turned into one of those people that has got to listen to their radio programs and I can’t say I’m mad about it. My next goal is to dedicate some time to doing tons of entries to play trivia on 107.9 because I am confident I can win it. So, don’t be surprised if baby girl has a future come up lol!

What is your favorite radio station? What is your favorite era of music? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Job – No Prob!!

New Job – No Prob!!

Hello!! As you all know, Johnny and I have become friends with Ohio’s favorite personal injury lawyer, Tim Misny. The past half a year or so has been an absolute whirlwind because of it and I still have to pinch myself that I even know Tim at all lol. Since meeting Tim, we have collaborated on lots of cool content, enjoyed delicious food and the best company a gal could ask for. I thought I was lucky before, but that changed completely thanks to a phone call this past Monday. Now, I consider myself the luckiest girl in the world!

On Monday, I received a call from Tim’s office manager with an offer… To work as the social media manager for Tim Misny!!! This is not my first rodeo doing social media management, but this is most definitely the biggest person I have worked with yet. Tim truly is a celebrity in Ohio and when I say that everyone knows who he is, I mean everyone and their brother. Creating content with Tim this winter was a blast, but I never in my wildest dreams thought that it would turn into an opportunity like this. πŸ˜€

With my new position, I will be working hard to freshen up Tim’s social media pages through interactive content, contests, and interviews. In fact, we just shot our first video to start that process on Thursday! I have also been designing new clothing and products for the Misny Merch line. I am particularly excited about this because it’s no secret that I love fashion and I have a ton of ideas to make the merch line really pop. It’s like this job was made for me!

I have been working towards a job like this since lifewithlilred began almost a decade ago. I feel like it is my big break and I am going to savor every moment of it. I am beyond thankful for Tim and his team to take me on and can’t wait to see what each day holds. To keep up to date on content starring yours truly, be sure to follow Tim’s Facebook page!

What is the best job you have ever had? How about the worst? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Tattoo Etiquette

Tattoo Etiquette

Howdy!! I often forget how many tattoos I actually have until the warm weather hits and shorts and T-shirts are appropriate again. It’s so easy to not even think about a majority of my tattoos when they are consistently covered up with jeans and hoodies all fall and winter long! This past week, we enjoyed eighty degree days in the good ol’ A-K-Rowdy and I was excited to finally break out shorts and a T from Misny Merch. I am used to a lot of the usual comments when my tattoos are out… “How much did those cost?”, “what hurt the most?”, “why do you have so many?”, and so on and so forth. However, I never experienced anything quite like what I did when I was job coaching at work.

While I was on site on Tuesday, I had not one, not two, not three, but FOUR people in under an hour grab me to get a “closer look” at different pieces. This made for a grand total of SIX times in two days, but I had never had that happen so many times in such a short period. This is my PSA to PLEASE DON’T DO THAT. It is an absolute invasion of personal space, shows no respect for a person’s boundaries, and is simply insane that adults don’t know how to keep their hands to themselves.

As this was all happening, I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone because it just kept happening lol. I don’t know about all of you, but I have never grabbed a person’s hair because I liked it and wanted to learn about the color and cut. I have never grabbed a person’s shirt because it was adorable and I wanted to know the brand. It is shocking to me that such an easy concept to grasp just flew out the window when my tattoos were involved. Body modifications do not give anyone permission to touch you. Nothing gives anyone permission to touch you without your consent. And just for good measure, I repeat: No one should touch you without your consent!!!! Get it together, people. Je-sus.

Word to the wise, if you would like to get a closer look at someone’s ink – just ask. Ninety-nine percent of the time, we are happy to accommodate, but don’t take lightly to being grabbed out of nowhere. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk!

What is a weird situation you have encountered in public? What is one of your biggest pet peeves? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Finger Tattoos

New Finger Tattoos

Hello!! I had an excellent tap out tattoo session a few weeks ago by my wonderful artist, Emily, at her brand new shop called Vivid Visions. We got a ton done, but there was still a few odds and ends to complete that we didn’t have time for. I have known Emily since I was fifteen and have been a client of hers for over a decade now. We have had so many fun times in the shop together and she absolutely spoils me when it comes to tap outs. Any crazy idea I have, she is game for and is always willing to work with my schedule for touch ups and quick fillers. This past Monday, I got some vines on both of my thighs, two new delicate neck tattoos, and these adorable details on my fingers:

image_50380801(5)image_50395649(2)

One of my deepest regrets about getting tattooed was that I waited SO long to get my hands done. I have only had my hand tattoos for about two years and they are, easily, some of my favorites. However, Emily and I both agreed during this tap out that they were still looking a little bare – especially on the fingers themselves. Prior to the end of my tap out session, Emily encouraged me to look up inspiration pictures, send them her way, and we would brainstorm the design when I came back to Vivid Visions.

As I browsed pages of finger tattoos, I realized that I wanted to go the minimal route with them. While the bold tattoos were awesome, I feared they would be too much because I have pretty tiny hands. At the shop, I showed Emily what I liked and what I didn’t. Then, she had me sit down and began drawing on my fingers. Before I knew it, she had brought what I was imaging in my head to real life. Emily was able to take my ideas and craft them into something that was even better than I hoped for.

Once the designs were drawn on, the tattooing began and it was easy peasy. Of course, I have an incredibly high pain tolerance but I have never had a problem with any of the tattoos on my hands before. In under fifteen minutes, my finger bling was permanent and it is such a nod to Emily’s skill. Ever since I have been her client, she has worked with masterful precision and speed and turns the smallest, most delicate tattoos into something special. ❀

It is safe to say that I am quickly running out of room for more tattoos. That doesn’t mean I don’t have a few more ideas up my sleeves, though. I can’t wait to see what Emily does with them!

What is your favorite tattoo that you have? Do you have any tattoos you regret? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Spring Picnic OOTD

Spring Picnic OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! This past Friday, Johnny and I attended a spring picnic hosted by our friend Tim Misny. This was a party for social media contest winners and it was such fun to mingle with so many cool new people at Misnyland. We had beautiful weather for the get together and it was the first day that truly felt like spring in forever. Naturally, I had to show out in a little something something! Check it out:

image_50733313(5)image_50733825(2)image_50769409(1)image_50473217(6)image_50731009(6)

Who? What? Wear?

Dress: Altar’d State

Cardigan: Candie’s, Kohl’s

Studded Mary Jane Heels: White Mountain, TJMaxx

Normally when I’m preparing an OOTD, I tend to know what I’m going to wear almost immediately. I plan outfits in my head and make adjustments as I’m putting the outfit on. For this particular case, I had an adorable outfit in mind with a bodycon skirt and button down. However, it was just not it once it was on because of the change in my hair color. It has been a while since I had gotten a full on hair makeover and I forgot how the new colors might not compliment every single thing in my wardrobe. At this point, I had to pivot hard.

With what felt like no options and endless options to pick from, I spent a bit of time floundering around my closet and wondering what to do next. With minimal time to get ready and make the hour drive to Misnyland, I decided the best route was the easy one – a dress. Dresses are fantastic because there’s a limit to what you can do with them. It was also the perfect something to throw on for a spring picnic because dresses just scream spring to me!

Once I figured out a solution, it was go time. I browsed the dresses in my closet, but felt bored with what I was seeing. Many of the dresses I own have already been featured on OOTDs before or weren’t appropriate for the weather. Then, I stumbled upon a dress that I had honestly forgotten I had – a pretty little black and white floral number by Altar’d State. This was definitely the one and I loved how it went from form fitting to a flirty flounce on the hemline.

Although I have no problem wearing this dress without anything covering it in the summertime, I needed something for the party. I didn’t want my bra straps showing around a bunch of strangers! The weather didn’t call for a jacket, but I could certainly get away with a light cardigan. I went with an emerald green cardi by Candie’s, which is old as dirt but I still like all the same. The jewel tone against the neutral palette of the dress helped liven things up and the fit was spot on because it ended right when the dress did.

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. For shoes, I chose a sweet pair of studded Mary Jane heels. The embellishment added a unique touch and the heels were sturdy, which was essential because we’d be walking on gravel. As a heavily tattooed gal, I tend to shy away from accessories when my ink is out because those are my accessories lol. Anything more just looks like too much so I put on a simple pair of stud earrings and was ready for the party with a few minutes to spare!

My Spring Picnic OOTD was not what I had in mind originally in the slightest. However, it worked beautifully for the occasion and I felt like the Spring Fling Queen in my look!

What colors look the best with your hair color? What would you wear to a spring picnic? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Misnyland Spring Picnic

Misnyland Spring Picnic

Hello!! Way back in November of last year was the first time I visited my friend and Ohio’s favorite personal injury lawyer, Tim Misny, at Misnyland. This was thanks to a contest that I won for rocking his Misny Merch line in an OOTD post. Over the past month and change, Tim hosted a similar merch contest with the prize being a picnic at Misnyland last weekend. Johnny and I were invited to go and we were elated because it has been a while since we had some quality Tim Time. The picnic was an absolute blast and the weather was just right for an afternoon outdoors. I think we looked pretty snazzy too:

ktkt1

The picnic this past weekend was basically a repeat of the party Johnny and I attended last year. Hey, if it’s not broken don’t fix it because Tim knows how to throw a get together! There was music playing, delicious pizza from Tim’s favorite shop, golf cart tours of the property, photo ops, and mingling with Tim and new friends. And, yes, I mean new actual friends because Johnny and I made some and we are thrilled. Their names are Grant and Amanda, an adorable married couple who were invited because of an artistic masterpiece:

kt

Grant is the owner of Matrix Tattoo and completed this piece of Tim Misny’s iconic eyebrow arch a week or so before the party (the recipient of the tattoo was invited too). As soon as this picture was posted, my Facebook was blowing up from people tagging me in it and I sent it off to Tim because I knew he’d get a kick out of it. I was assuming he would extend an invite to the picnic their way and am so glad he did because they were the coolest. Grant and Amanda had so much in common with Johnny and I and we are so excited to have a game night with them soon. πŸ˜€

Tim Misny’s parties are the best because you get to meet so many new people who you already have a perfect ice breaker with – You’re all fans of Tim! It can be so hard to meet anybody new when all you do is work and watch Criminal Minds lol. Johnny and I haven’t socialized in a group setting in so long and, I have to admit, we were both a little rusty. By the end of the party, however, we didn’t want to leave because we had so much left to say to all of our new friends. Whether it’s through his billboards or a party on his own property, Tim Misny sure knows how to bring people together. ❀

Be on the look out for brand new content with Tim and I soon for the release of the spring and summer Misny Merch line. It’s going to be a hoot!

Is it easy or hard for you to meet new people? Where do you like to go to meet new people? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hawaii Haul

Hawaii Haul

Hello!! In mid April, my mom, dad, and brother went on a guided vacation to Hawaii. This was their dream trip and we were all thrilled that they got to go on such a wonderful adventure. Although I was happy for their fun in the sun, I was missing them something fierce. Honestly, I couldn’t wait for them to come home as soon as they left! Prior to their departure, they asked all of the family what kind of souvenirs they might like. I answered with jewelry and my history buff husband wanted something from Pearl Harbor. I am pleased to report that my travelers delivered! Check it out:

image_50730497(2)image_50756097(1)image_50407169(7)image_50448129(4)image_50439425(7)image_50421761(4)

When I visited my family after they returned, it was like a mini Christmas on the dining room table. It was laden with gifts for the kids and grandkids and it warmed my heart that all of us were thought of no matter how far apart we were. Johnny received some guitar picks and a model of the USS Arizona Memorial. He was SO excited to build the model and when I returned home from work the following day, he was almost done with it already. In fact, he enjoyed the build so much that he plans on buying more from the brand. Both the picks and model are proudly displayed on our knick knack shelves.

For my gift, I got exactly what I wanted – a stunning necklace and earrings! I am loving the shell necklace and it will be a fabulous accessory this summer. I am going to wear it wrapped as a bracelet and the pretty, neutral palette will allow me to wear it with anything and everything. The piece de resistance, however, was the earrings for sure. The delicate gold cutouts of sea turtles blew me away and they are also highly sentimental. Sea turtles are my brother’s favorite and what he was most looking forward to seeing. Like the necklace, these earrings are going to enhance any outfit and it will be like a hug from my family every time I wear them. ❀

My family had the best time on their trip and I had the best time welcoming them home. I call dibs on next vacation!!!

Do you have any vacations planned? Where are you going? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Turning Thirty (Ahhhh!!)

Standard
Turning Thirty (Ahhhh!!)

Hello!!! June is an exciting month for Johnny and I because we celebrate our birthaversary. Johnny has his thirty-fifth birthday on the first, our three year wedding anniversary is on the fourth, and I will be turning thirty on the seventh. While this is a banner time to be us, I’d be a liar if I said I wasn’t a tad nervous about turning the dirty thirty. There’s something about not being in my twenties that just doesn’t sit right with me lol!

On Wednesday, my sister came over for a quick visit. She told me that she showed the pictures of my new hair to my niece, Val, and lil bestie had an interesting response to it. She said “Wow, TT looks so young“. And just when I thought I couldn’t love her any more than I already do! This was actually the third or fourth time I have gotten this compliment over the past month when people find out I’m turning thirty. I’ve got to say, I now understand why people love to hear it because it has definitely helped soften the blow of my milestone birthday.

Thanks to the handful of “wow, you don’t look thirty at all” that I have received, I am feeling more okay about June seventh. Yes, it was nice to hear that I don’t look my age. But, it was nicer to hear that my personality doesn’t reflect it either. In my head, I am still a twenty something and I think that’s the most important thing. This is something that I have been reminding myself of because the cliche is so true – you’re only as old as you feel. I think once the initial shock of entering a new decade wears off, I will feel much better. But, for now, I will be using these positive affirmations to get me through and they are already working wonders!

Normally, I am psyched for my birthday. It feels strange to have anxiety about an exciting day, but I think a big party will ease the nerves so I have that going for me!! πŸ˜€

How do you feel about your birthday? Which age were you nervous to turn? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

April 2024 Finishes

April 2024 Finishes

Howdy!!! I don’t know how it happened, but April is almost over and it went by at dizzying speed. This month was a combination of crazy busy with a handful of crazy relaxing days and I am hoping that things slow down in May. Primarily because I don’t want to turn thirty in June lol!! Since we’re wrapping up the month, it’s time to take a look at the beauty products that I finished up. It was basically duds on duds on duds so let’s get to it:

image_50429185(9)

Would I Use Again?

Thayers Witch Hazel: NO

Bath & Body Works Poppy Lotion: YES

Provence Beauty Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 Serum: NO

Honest Calm & Heal Melting Balm: NO

Why/Why Not?

Thayers Witch Hazel: Way back in January, I had a huge skin care haul at TJMaxx thanks to my holiday gift cards. I got anything and everything, but the one thing missing was my beloved Evoluderm micellar water. As there was not a bottle in sight, I had to scrounge for more toners to use and ended up with a bottle of Thayers witch hazel. It took me about one month of daily use to finish the bottle as a toner and it was perfectly average. Definitely not worth writing home about or buying again!

Provence Beauty Serum: I was most excited to try out this serum, mainly because I thought the bottle was pretty lol. Unfortunately, the Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 missed the mark big time. Oddly enough, I am using a different serum by the same brand and am loving the results! The finished serum was just okay. It took me one month of twice daily use to finish the bottle. In that time, I noticed no positive differences to my skin’s appearance or texture. This was weird because a hyaluronic acid formula tends to really agree with me. Apparently not this one, SMH.

Honest Balm: This is the second time that I have used the Honest Calm & Heal Melting Balm. Originally, I was pretty impressed with this product and was looking forward to trying it again. This time around, the balm did nothing for me. In fact, the thick formula was almost too much and it felt like it was suffocating my skin. I still think this balm would be excellent for people with extremely dry skin. However, if you have a normal or mildly dry skin tone, I would stick with a more moderate moisturizer. I’m glad I got to reuse this product so I can officially add it to my “won’t use again” list.

Even though my April Empties were lacking in success, I was happy to finish them up. After all of these misses, I am loving the current products I’m using. I think the May Finishes will be much better!

Which products did you use up this month? What are your thoughts on any of the above products if you have used them before? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath & Body Works Mini Haul

Bath & Body Works Mini Haul

Hello!! One of my neighbors blessed me with a Bath & Body Works coupon he got in the mail as he had no use for it. So, on Tuesday I popped in the shop during my afternoon break to double dip on my April freebies. My bath and body care hoard runneth over but you just can’t beat free! I had no intention of getting anything besides the travel size item the coupon allowed for, but B&BW was running a good promo on their wallflowers so I grabbed two of those too. The fragrances I picked have me feeling oh so spring! Check it out:

image_50398209(13)image_50437889(11)

I don’t know if it’s just my Bath & Body Works or all of them, but I have noticed that their travel size selection is severely lacking the past several times I’ve went in. There were only a handful of scents, maybe three, that were available and it was mainly fragrance sprays and lotion. I am pretty well stocked on all of my bath and body products thanks to the winter semi annual sale and I didn’t want any more perfume. Then, I had a brain blast and remembered that their bar soap is part of the free travel size promo too. This was much more like it! I have used their bar soap a few times and loved it so I picked one out in Apple – my favorite scent. And, as you guessed, it smells exactly like biting into a crisp, juicy apple!

For my wallflower fragrances, I followed a similar motif with fruity scents. I couldn’t say no to Pink Apple Punch, which features notes of “crisp apple, melon, and sugared crystals”. I can’t speak for the melon portion of the fragrance because it just smelled like apples to me and that was perfectly fine! I also purchased Aloha Kiwi Passionfruit as my Johnny loves a tropical scent. This one offers notes of “tropical passionfruit, radiant kiwi, and juicy pineapple”. I could really smell the pineapple on this wallflower and it was such a sweet, punchy fragrance that will definitely brighten up the living room. I can’t wait to use it. πŸ˜€

This quick visit to B&BW was such a nice little treat. The fruity fragrances I left with put a spring in my step and will compliment the lovely spring weather beautifully!

What kind of fragrance do you like? What is your favorite fruit scent? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
