Hey everyone! Sorry I have been MIA, I have been and still am pretty sick. My sister had a nasty cold and cough, which transferred to my brother, which transferred to me, which I transferred to my boyfriend, which I’m sure will end up getting transferred back to me somehow because that’s just how things happen in my life. Anyways, I’ve had a cough, cold, fever, and aches from hell since Monday and I am still feeling fairly questionable today. Fingers crossed that those feelings subside by tomorrow, though, because my family is taking a little beginning of fall vaca!
Yeah that’s right! For the first time in twenty-two years of being alive, my family is going on two vacations in one year. We enjoyed being in Asheville, North Carolina so much in June that we just had to come back. This time we are bringing our two dogs with us to the extremely canine friendly city and are departing on Friday and coming home on Wednesday. This is something that my family has never ever done before and I’m seriously so excited!
This semester has been a bitch and a half but I have already gotten all of my work completed for the following week and am ready for some much needed R&R! Since I have been away from my beloved blog baby for so long this past week, I will be sure to get some writing done while I’m tucked away in a little cabin in NC! That’s right, lifewithlilred has been a thing for two years as of today and I am just pleased as PUNCH! Heyyy everyone and happy Monday! So this weekend was kind of a big deal because of October 17th which is both my boyfriend’s and my brother’s birthday! I had the best time celebrating with my man this weekend and enjoyed some mother daughter time when she helped me prep Kyle’s birthday dinner. Sorry that I was away without warning, BTW, because I like to give you guys notice when I’m not going to have a Saturday post of some kind! But I’m back from being birthday MIA so let’s discuss:
My oldest brother, Peter, celebrated his 28th birthday but unfortunately he lives in Atlanta, Georgia so I didn’t get to ring in his new year with him. So this weekend it was all about the boyfriend who turned the big 2-7. Besides from some awesome gifts (if I do say so myself), I wanted to cook him a special dinner too so before I headed to Canton for the weekend my mom helped me with something that I deemed a “must”: a fresh loaf of French bread to go with a Fettuccine Alfredo dish.
My mom is an incredible bread baker and has been doing it for forever. I can remember watching her bake and knead her loaves of bread when I was younger but could never do it quite like her. That was about to change this weekend though because my mama dearest walked me through how to bake my own French bread and it turned out amazing! My mom was an awesome teacher and I liked how she explained the process to me rather than doing it for me so I felt like I was still the one making the bread. She taught me how to knead the dough and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy I found it because I remember it being so hard when I was younger! According to mi madre, I’m a natural and here’s how my French bread turned out:
While my bread baked I whipped up a quick chocolate lava cake as well and left shortly after everything was baked to perfection. I loaded up my car with gifts, an overnight bag, dinner ingredients, my cake, and my bread on a cooling rack and headed to Canton. The thing about bread is that it can’t go into a bag until it’s completely cool and my mom refused to let my first time bread creation go soggy so she insisted that I drive with the naked loaf on a cooling rack. I was SO terrified to drive quickly or break heavily for the fear of the baguette flying off the rack. Lucky for me, my bread baby sat just fine and we made it to Kyle’s in one piece!
I had the pleasure of meeting Kyle’s brother, sister-in-law, and their two children on Friday night and then we went home for gift opening and Dexter watching. Unfortunately on Saturday Kyle had to work for half of his birthday but during that time I was able to finish some homework, get an article edited, and spend some quality time with Kyle’s mom. Once the evening rolled around I started cooking a surprisingly easy Fettuccine Alfredo recipe that I found online. It turned out nice and creamy and my bread was delicious, if I do say so myself!
After dinner, we were going to see Crimson Peak but we were both so full and sleepy after our Italian meal that we ended up just lounging around for the night. But seeing the movie is on our agenda for when I see Kyle next! I had such a lovely weekend with my beau and it was such a joy to meet his brother and his family!

So the first awesome happenstance occurred this past Wednesday when my brother, Peter, officially received his PhD in chemical engineering! He argued the thesis that he’s been working on for what seems like forever and all of the hard work finally paid off. Words can’t even describe how proud I am of him and his accomplishments. July is a great month for my family but specifically for Peter because in under two weeks he’ll be getting married to my future sister in law, Megan! They’ll be tying the knot at the end of the month and we’re all ecstatic. Peter and Megan will be honeymooning in Italy so if you live in the area make sure you keep your eyes out for them! YAY PETER!!!!
Another little something something that I am so thrilled to announce is that I submitted my information to http://www.ModCloth.com to potentially do some modeling work for them. I was browsing on Mod during some downtime yesterday and just for fun I decided to look at the career section of the site. Under the hiring page they were advertising that they were searching for models of all sizes so I thought, “why not?” Lucky for me, ModCloth has a station in Pittsburgh which is only a two hour drive for me and I have family there so if I were to work there occasionally it wouldn’t be a problem. I feel like I would be a perfect model for ModCloth and I can’t even begin to tell you guys how desperately I want to work for them. I wrote up a fun “about me” bio, took my measurements, and picked out some pictures of me that I thought would showcase my ability and sent it their way. As I hit the “Send” button on the email I literally thought to myself “here goes nothing”, shut my eyes really tight, and hoped for the best. Please, please, please send some good vibes my way and who knows – maybe you’ll be seeing me on http://www.ModCloth.com sometime in the future! Fingers and toes crossed!
On top of all of the super fun stuff that’s happening, everything at school is going just swimmingly as well! I’ll be done with my summer courses in three weeks and I’m SOOO ready for them to be over! Two days after I’m officially donezo with my classes, my family and I will be heading off on vacation to Orlando, Florida so we can hit up Universal Studios. I can’t wait!!! Once we return from vaca, I’ll have a little less than a two week break and then my fall semester will begin. A lot of major events are happening in a short period of time and before I know it, I’ll be back on campus at Tri-C! All I have to say is, let’s do it! Here goes nothing! 🙂

Heyyy everyone and happy Tuesday! I hope you’re all having a great day so far! So after an entire month of waiting, tonight is finally the night of the AWOLNATION concert at the House Of Blues in Cleveland!!! I’m seriously SO excited I could cry! After notifying my older brother that one of my favorite bands was going to be in Cleveland, he bought me two tickets for my birthday…What a guy. Family Of The Year and some other band is opening and I’m actually really looking forward to that too because I like Family Of The Year a lot. I’m definitely curious about who the other opener is going to be! My sister is such a champ because she’s coming with me to the show even though she doesn’t know one song by AWOLNATION. I’m so happy that she’s coming with me because she’s the only one who I feel comfortable going super hard with – and I plan on it! Hella screaming, hella jumping around, and hella dancing my ass off. If I were to bring a friend with me, I would probably end up feeling pretty self conscious about my fan girling and end up just standing there looking like a goon. -_-
This will be my third night out at the House Of Blues in a month and a half since I recently saw The Used and Glass Animals performing there. I’m a big fan of HOB because it’s such an intimate venue so I’m really hoping that if my sister and I show up early enough that we’ll be able to get pretty close to the stage. The doors open at seven and I plan on leaving around five fifteen or so to make the forty-five minute drive up there. I have no problem waiting in line for an hour if that means that I’ll get a good standing area…Now I just have to convince sissy to be down with that plan! #SAIL

Heyyy everyone and happy Monday!! I hope all of you are having a fabulous day so far! I’m currently taking a break after a four hour homework binge, so I thought that now would be the perfect time to let all of you know that my 21st birthday countdown has begun! There are officially only SIX DAYS left until my June 7th birthday. I repeat SIX DAYS! S-I-X D-A-Y-S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In case you can’t tell….I’m beyond excited! I have lots of fun stuff planned for a week full of birthday celebrations, so I’m trying to finish as much homework as I can now so that I don’t have anything school related to worry about for my special week – because let’s be real, turning the big 2-1 definitely calls for a weeks worth of tomfoolery! Yesterday my sister and I went shopping at my favorite mall, Belden Village in Canton where I treated myself to some new additions to my wardrobe…A jacket that I’ve had my eye on for forever at American Eagle that FINALLY went on clearance and a super cool and edgy black crop top with two floor length black sheer panels of material hanging from the front and back from Forever 21. I was soooo excited about my new jacket from AEO, because not only did I get it for half off which was a total steal BUT they only had my size (small) and an extra large left – so it was definitely meant to be! I would post pictures of these new pieces to show you guys, but my beloved best friend Kate is going to be doing that for me on our hang out evening this Wednesday, so be on the look out for some pretty new modeling pics of yours truly! I’m seriously so obsessed with both of these new wardrobe editions so I can’t wait for you guys to see them! As I mentioned earlier, I have a full birthday week of plans, so here’s a tentative outline of what my schedule will be looking like until my big day:
Monday: Finish my school work for a stress free birthday week! I have just a few more things to do and then I’ll be done already – hurray!
Tuesday: Get my hair cut so it’s nice and fierce for all of my festivities and then join my sister for an evening of pampering at a fancy salon while she gets her hair dyed.
Wednesday: A lovely hang out with Kate that will be filled with booze, crafting, and photography!
Thursday: An afternoon at the nail salon where my beloved nail tech Vinny will be giving me the princess treatment with a brand new set of nails! My talons take FOREVER to create, so it should be a pretty lengthy salon hang out with Vinny and the rest of the fabulous employees at Empress Nails!
Friday: A trip to the Toledo Zoo with my darling little BFF Lea for my birthday day trip! It’s our best friend tradition to take a day trip for each of our birthdays.
Saturday: My first night out at the bars with all of my friends! The white girl wastedness will be SO real!!!
Sunday: MY BIRTHDAY!!!!! This will probably be my day with my family unless Kate and I aren’t too hung over to have our individual celebration together. I’m not sure what she has planned but she told me that I need to be twenty-one for it – so maybe we’ll be going to a winery or something?! I have no idea, but I’m so excited to see what she has planned!!!
^^^ I LOVE MINIONS!! And speaking of those silly little yellow guys – at Build A Bear you can make a minion (as you can see by my featured image photo) and I want to make one so desperately it hurts! I swear I’m turning twenty-one and not five!!! So if someone could take me to make a minion of my own to hug and love on that would be great! 😉

So today is my mom and dad’s 34th wedding anniversary! Hurray! Congratulations to my wonderful parent’s for being able to put up with each other for thirty-four whole years and are STILL going strong! I honestly think that’s such an amazing accomplishment considering we live in a world where long standing marriages are becoming increasingly rare. I genuinely believe that I have the best parents that a gal could ask for, so I for one am so thankful that their marriage has been so successful! Thirty-four years is a long time, but here’s to a million more happy years together in a perfect, blissful, and slightly annoying union! Last night my family went out to dinner to celebrate my mom and dad and as their anniversary treat to themselves they both ordered a drink that wasn’t water! Big spenders! Both of my parents are the farthest thing from lavish when it comes to celebrating the milestones of their marriage, so a nice and low key dinner was the perfect way to celebrate their special day. It was a really beautiful time. Happy, happy anniversary mom and dad! Good job!! I love you both so much! ❤ ❤ ❤

Heyyy everyone! So I know you’re all awaiting with baited breath to hear how my summer classes are going – and for the most part they’re all going great! I started my math and Sociology class on Tuesday, and apparently I won’t be starting my Social Psychology course until June 8th which came as a rude shock. (So now I only have eight weeks to complete that course. -__-) At first I was pretty overwhelmed by everything because let me tell you – it’s a lot! In all of my classes we’re going through about two chapters worth of work and information per week to finish each course in a ten week time period…it’s a bit much! (And by a bit I mean a lot.) Despite the excessive work load, I’m feeling pretty good about everything for the most part. I’ve been tucked in at the local Starbucks basically every day this week with a bag full of my textbooks, laptop, laptop battery, headphones, notebooks, planner, and writing utensils to keep me company. Each day I usually spend four hours at Starbucks, then I go home and take a little break to let my brain breathe, and then I start up again for another two or three hours. I’ll tell you what – by the end of the day I’m exhausted and my brain feels fried. I’m learning a lot of information every day and I swear my brain is running out of room to store it all in. My Sociology class is easy peasy, it’s basically just reading the textbook. But my math class is already a major frustration. I’m taking all of my courses online this summer and it’s just so difficult trying to learn new math skills over the computer. Yesterday the chapter we were working on had to do with subsets and yada, yada, yada and I was so confused. I read the chapter multiple times, I watched the videos about the subject, I looked through the Power Point presentations, and I “chatted” online with a tutor for a solid thirty-five minutes and I still didn’t understand a damn thing. That’s what I get for taking a math class online, I guess. Luckily, I posted a Facebook status yesterday asking for help from anyone good at math and one of my favorite customers from PacSun messaged me saying that he would help! So we’re gonna meet up for coffee tonight so he can try to explain things to me. Fingers crossed that I walk away with a new understanding on stupid subsets! 😉
On the bright not school related side, my 21st birthday is coming up very soon! June 7th, to be exact!!! So rest assured that this entire upcoming week will basically be me telling you guys how excited I am to turn the big 2-1 like a million times…Sorry not sorry! 🙂 And if you feel like sending Lil Red some birthday lovin, you can always get me a box of my Vidal Sassoon Runway Red hair dye from the London Luxe collection! Helloooo everyone and happy Tuesday! So remember how I mentioned in an earlier post “Bye Bye Spring Semester!” that I had a really rough time taking my math exam? I was so confident that I didn’t do too hot during my first college final at Tri-C, but guess what? Final grades were posted last night and this bitch got a 93% on the final! This resulted in an overall grade for the entire semester of…..drum roll pleeeeease…..AN A+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT EVEN?!!! I seriously almost cried when I saw my amazing grade! I was up late last night and I happened to check my grades just in case my teacher decided to post them, even though they weren’t due until this morning. When I saw the notifications that the grades were up, my heart felt like it was going to fall out of my butt. I was so nervous to click on the “Check Grades” link, but I shut my eyes really tight, took a deep breath, and clicked it anyways to see my results. I counted to three, opened my eyes, and let out a squeal of delight when I saw that beautiful A+. I didn’t care that it was midnight, I ran to my parents’ room to tell them the good news! Even in the middle of the night, they were both still super excited for me!! I took my final this past Thursday and spent all weekend freaking out about my grades. I spent many hours calculating the lowest score I could possibly get for me to fail the class with a C or lower. I racked my brains to go through the possible grades that I could have got on previous assignments – but nothing seemed to ease the nervous tension of waiting for that final exam score. I’m so happy I passed with flying colors, because I wouldn’t be able to take the math course that I signed up for this summer if I failed the current class and that was a major concern of mine. Words can’t even begin to describe how proud I am of myself. Seriously, I haven’t felt this good about anything in a very long time and I have solely me, myself, and I to thank for it! I worked my ass off, studied hard, and completed every single assignment, quiz, test, and extra credit opportunity to the best of my ability and it beyond paid off in the end! Now that this anxious weight of playing the waiting game for my grades has been lifted off of my shoulders, I can finally sit back and enjoy my mini break until my summer classes start up on the 26th! I’m so excited to continue my educational journey at Tri-C and I’m ready for everything that my new courses have to throw at me! As a reminder, I’ll be taking Social Psychology, Introductory Sociology, and Survey of Mathematics for the summer semester. All of the classes will be completed within ten weeks, so it will be very fast paced. That would have worried me before, but now I’m floating on cloud nine of confidence so I know that I can handle it and have another semester of wonderful grades to show for it! YAY SARAH! #smartypants
