Fed Up With Car Failures? It Could Be Time To Upgrade!

Fed Up With Car Failures? It Could Be Time To Upgrade!

Our cars really are our ticket to independence, and having your own vehicle gives you the ability to go where you want, when you want. If you’ve been driving for a while your car probably feels like an extension of you, and so when things go wrong it can spell disaster. If your car is giving you trouble and it’s reaching the end of it’s life, here are some things to consider:

Reasons For Upgrading:

There are plenty of reasons why a newer car is a good investment. First of all, if you’re considering scrapping your car it’s likely to be because it’s unreliable. Newer cars are generally more reliable, as all of the parts are less worn. Plus, it’s easier and cheaper to find the parts to replace them if they go wrong, too. In more recent years pollution and car emissions have become a hot topic, and car manufacturers have taken this on board. This means newer cars tend to be more environmentally friendly – not just through electric or hybrid models, either. New cars also have better safety features, so if you are unlucky enough to be involved in a crash, you massively improve your chances of surviving or, at least, avoiding serious injury.

Choosing Your Next Car:

There are many factors to consider when you’re buying your next vehicle. You should never just rush into it and choose something based solely on price or looks. Check out the safety features, how economical it is to run, and ideally take a few vehicles for a test drive so that you can get a feel for the handling. Of course, you should run some quotes through comparison sites to check out how much insurance will cost and if it’s affordable for you. If you have a very specific model in mind you might struggle finding one local, but luckily companies like Shiply do vehicle delivery. This is useful as you don’t need to travel or sort out insurance costs for driving it back, you can sort everything from the comfort of your own home, instead. And who doesn’t love online shopping?

How To Get Rid Of The Old Model:

If your car is an older model, and either something major goes wrong or a few things all go at once, you can find yourself in the position where the costs of the parts and labor can be more than what the car is worth. In this case, it makes the most sense to scrap your car for cash, and then put the money towards a newer vehicle. If your car is  particularly well maintained or a rare model, you could even sell it and make some good money, as collectors will be prepared to put in the cost of parts. If it’s long past its best you could have it scrapped – just make sure that you choose a licenced car scrapyard. This prevents the vehicle from being unlawfully sold, where it could potentially end up in criminal activity while still registered to you!

A new car makes an excellent gift to yourself this holiday season – especially if you are in desperate need of a new one. Hit those holiday sales and drive away in your dream car!

The Model Body

The Model Body

Hey everyone and happy Hump Day! Okay, so I came to a shocking revelation over the weekend when I saw my fourteen year old cousin at a family get together. This young woman is tall (5’7 or 5’8, easily), thin as a rail, and probably one hundred and five pounds soaking wet. She has what I would call a “model” body. Literally. She is the most modelesque person I know and she could send pictures to Teen Vogue and they would call her for a photo shoot immediately. So imagine my surprise when she told me that the skirt that she had on was

A SIZE 6!!

She told me that the size two was too tight and the store didn’t have a four, so she went with the six. My mouth probably hung open for an uncomfortable amount of time, because I wear a four. Me. Sarah. The 5’1 1/4 (Because the quarter counts!), muscular thighs and booty from figure skating, never going to be a model twenty-something. And my baby cousin who looks like she could be in a double zero was wearing a size bigger than me? It just didn’t make sense.

Now, I get that all stores have slightly different sizing. I wear a two at Express, but am generally a solid four. But I was so baffled by what my cousin told me, because she looks like a model. And if this young lady wears a four usually, like me, then what in the hell are the models on the runway and in Vogue wearing?

I can’t wrap my mind around it. If my cousin who could be on a runway right now wears a four, then could the models be wearing sizes other than the double zero, zero, and size two, which seems standard in the fashion industry? Obviously these sizes exist and they’re beautiful. But how can those sizes be so different from my equally model sized cousin?

I don’t really know where I’m going with this but I just thought it was interesting, albeit a little mind blowing. Have you ever met someone whose body type doesn’t match their clothing size? What are your thoughts on the infamous fashion industry size standards? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: Here Goes Nothing Edition

Hellooo everyone and happy Monday!! I hope that all of you had a fantastic weekend and a great start to your week so far. Some pretty exciting stuff has happened this past week so let’s dive right in and discuss:

So the first awesome happenstance occurred this past Wednesday when my brother, Peter, officially received his PhD in chemical engineering! He argued the thesis that he’s been working on for what seems like forever and all of the hard work finally paid off. Words can’t even describe how proud I am of him and his accomplishments. July is a great month for my family but specifically for Peter because in under two weeks he’ll be getting married to my future sister in law, Megan! They’ll be tying the knot at the end of the month and we’re all ecstatic. Peter and Megan will be honeymooning in Italy so if you live in the area make sure you keep your eyes out for them! YAY PETER!!!!

Another little something something that I am so thrilled to announce is that I submitted my information to http://www.ModCloth.com to potentially do some modeling work for them. I was browsing on Mod during some downtime yesterday and just for fun I decided to look at the career section of the site. Under the hiring page they were advertising that they were searching for models of all sizes so I thought, “why not?” Lucky for me, ModCloth has a station in Pittsburgh which is only a two hour drive for me and I have family there so if I were to work there occasionally it wouldn’t be a problem. I feel like I would be a perfect model for ModCloth and I can’t even begin to tell you guys how desperately I want to work for them. I wrote up a fun “about me” bio, took my measurements, and picked out some pictures of me that I thought would showcase my ability and sent it their way. As I hit the “Send” button on the email I literally thought to myself “here goes nothing”, shut my eyes really tight, and hoped for the best. Please, please, please send some good vibes my way and who knows – maybe you’ll be seeing me on http://www.ModCloth.com sometime in the future! Fingers and toes crossed!

On top of all of the super fun stuff that’s happening, everything at school is going just swimmingly as well! I’ll be done with my summer courses in three weeks and I’m SOOO ready for them to be over! Two days after I’m officially donezo with my classes, my family and I will be heading off on vacation to Orlando, Florida so we can hit up Universal Studios. I can’t wait!!! Once we return from vaca, I’ll have a little less than a two week break and then my fall semester will begin. A lot of major events are happening in a short period of time and before I know it, I’ll be back on campus at Tri-C! All I have to say is, let’s do it! Here goes nothing! 🙂

sisssssss

^^^ Sissy and I go hard! ❤

Well I must be off so I can get some more homework done, so I will talk to you all later! Until then, how was everyone’s weekend? Are there any other websites that you know of that need models? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Isn’t She A Model Or Something?

Isn’t She A Model Or Something?

Heyy everyone and happy Sunday/Father’s Day to all of the dads in the world! So during a recent hang out with one of my friends he told me that him and his coworker had a conversation about me. Initially I was like “Oh Jesus” because that made it sound like the conversation was a bad thing, but thankfully I could breathe a sigh of relief because their little chat was actually very flattering! Apparently I’m Facebook friends with the guy who my comrade was talking to and when my name was mentioned he said “Oh, I think I know her – isn’t she a model or something?” I thought it was so sweet and then it reminded me of the countless messages that I get on Facebook weekly asking me if I’m a model or telling me that I should model. Usually I just laugh these compliments off, but secretly (not so secretly now since it’s on my blog!) I really would like to try my hand at some modeling. I suppose I would be pretty good at it and apparently a lot of other people think so too! But to set the record straight, as of now I am no model “or something” – merely just an average gal blogging an average blog! This is also just a round about way of saying how totally thankful and flattered I am for everyone’s lovely comments and compliments…it’s always much appreciated! That being said I think I really should get some photographs taken of yours truly – something that looks professional and not so obviously taken from my iPod by my beloved mother! Lol if anything it will be fun to post on here to show you guys. I’ve actually had quite a few people offer to photograph me, but their body of work is all very risque and that’s definitely not my thing. I’m all about the quirky, sassy, and clothed!! It’s definitely frustrating when my inbox is filled with people wanting to take my picture with my ass hanging out, but what can you do? …Politely decline – that’s what! And believe me, I’m sure that none of ya’ll want to see me in my skivvies! But for the time being I’ll just throw some oldie but goodie pics of me up on lifewithlilred and see what happens. You never know, Tyra Banks might call me for her millionth season of America’s Next Top Model or something! 😉 HOLLA!
