WILSON!!!!!

Hellooo everyone! Literal years ago, my sister and I visited Chicago together for a weekend trip. We ended up at a TJMaxx there with one of her friends and I ended up with a replica Wilson volleyball from the movie, Cast Away. Wilson has been a staple in my space ever since and has his own special spot on my bookshelf:

lr

^^^ Can you find him?!

While moving into my apartment, one of the movers from the company I hired noticed Mr. Wilson sitting in one of my boxes and asked me if I used to play volleyball. When I laughed and said no and asked him if he’s ever seen Cast Away he looked at me like I was a crazy person so I had to drop some knowledge on him. Can you believe that there are people who have never seen let alone heard of that masterpiece?! Smh.

I am still on a big movie kick at chez moi because no cable and no streaming services so imagine how happy I was to spot Cast Away at Target for FOUR DOLLARS. You’re not going to not buy it!

^^^ Lol, I just can’t.

I’m pretty stoked about my latest purchase and I know that Wilson is ecstatic to be reunited with his rightful owner. An afternoon viewing of Cast Away with a glass of wine in hand is just what the doctor ordered on my next day off! 😀

What is a movie that you love that no one knows about? What is your favorite cult film? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Welcome To My Crib: Balcony Edition

Hi, MTV, and welcome to my crib! Today, we’re going to take a look at the lovely back balcony that my apartment offers. Despite its lack of furniture, which I promise I’m getting soon, it is still so nice to be on and enjoy the weather and the company of some little animal friends. Take a look:

crib1crib2crib3crib

As you can see, I have some bird buddies who have made a home in the rafters of the balconies of myself and my neighbor. I’ll tell you what, nothing startles me more than when I’m standing outside and one of the tenants takes flight! It gets me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I’m hoping that I’ll see some deer in the wooded areas behind my apartment building at some point, too. #NATURE

Literally all I need to complete my balcony is some bright colored lawn chairs and I’ll be set. It’s a simple area but it’s one of my favorite parts about chez moi. Standing under the covering while it’s raining and breathing in the fresh air is good for the soul and I revel in it every chance I can get!

What type of furniture do you have for your outdoor areas? Do you have any animal companions that live in your yard? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Welcome To My Crib: Home Office Edition

Hi, MTV, and welcome to my crib! For the most part, my apartment is pretty much completely furnished and decorated minus my home office. So, I was hoping that my darlings with an eye for decor could help me out with figuring out what to do with this space.

For now, it has been so nice doing my paperwork for my big girl job and writing at my own desk instead of the dining room table at home! But, it will definitely feel better once the room has a deliberate design as opposed to a spare one with a desk in it. Lol, you’ll see. Check it out:

officeoffice4office1office2office3

Two great things about my office is the gigantic storage closet as well as the door that leads to my back balcony. I honestly don’t even have enough stuff to fill all of the storage options in my apartment and here I was before worrying that I wouldn’t have enough space! Anywho, as you can see, the office is a work in progress. I plan on taking some time off in May to completely finish my apartment so I’m hoping I’ll get some inspiration to get this space looking as good as the rest of chez moi. Help your girl out!

What would you do with this room to make it more home office ready? How is your office decorated at your place? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Welcome To My Crib: Living Room Edition

Hello, MTV, and welcome to my crib. Today, we are going to take a closer look at my living room and bonus points to anyone who can name the movie that’s playing on my TV in the pictures! My living room is actually my favorite space in my apartment and you guys will also get to see the furniture that I got for a song at a secondhand store called Abbey Ann’s. I wasn’t able to take pics when I got the furniture because it was all stored up in the garage and I am in love! Take a look:

The couch, floral chair, coffee table, and the two end tables pushed together to form the TV stand are thanks to Abbey Ann’s and I think that they are all perfect. I love how the colors of each piece compliment each other and look so nice against the light hardwood flooring. It was a lot of fun putting this space together and once this part of the unpacking process was complete, the rest was relatively easy.

I love being able to display my collection of books and movies and also peep that Step Brothers blanket! I have also been enjoying watching my movies on the hand me down TV from my sister until I figure out which streaming service that I will be going with. My living room feels cozy but still chic and cool and I adore it. I can’t wait to have people over to share a drink and a chat on my loveseat and to show off all of my hard work, of course!

How is your living room decorated? Where did you do your furniture shopping at for your home? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Welcome To My Crib: Walk In Closet Edition

Hello, MTV, and welcome to my crib! Your girl is all moved in and obviously the first thing that I wanted to show all of you in my new apartment is my GIGANTIC walk in closet. Perfect for a fashion blogger/shoe and clothing addict. Honestly, this closet is what sold me on the entire apartment and I am so in love I can’t hardly stand it. Check it out:

closetcloset2closet1closet3closet4closet5

There she is – ain’t she a beaut?! Setting up my closet was so much fun because it was like living my dream. I have always wanted a huge closet where I could proudly display all of my apparel and I finally have it. I had the movers take all of my shoe shelving from my old bedroom up into my closet and, although there was a hanging rod in there, I set up another hanging rack that I purchased from Target, because just one will never do. And, apparently two won’t do, either, because I have another extra one just in case!

Behind my clothes and shoe collection is extra storage, which will be nice, because I can put all of the random things that don’t have a home there. For now, it’s just shoe boxes but that might change for later! My closet is truly the piece de resistance of my apartment and I am so happy to be able to show all of you. :))) Tune in tomorrow for another tour of chez moi! xx

What is your closet like? How do you keep your closet organized? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Moving On Up: Groovy Movies Haul

Moving On Up: Groovy Movies Haul

Greetings! I am an avid movie fan and am always trying to expand my DVD collection. Especially because I refuse to get expensive cable while being in my apartment and I have yet to decide which entertainment streaming service I want to go with. So, until I figure that out, it will be nice to have things to watch or something to just pop in for background noise.

Target is usually my go to destination for new movies because they have an excellent five dollar selection – and you’re not going to not buy something for just five bucks! I also managed to get some movies FO FREE at one of my local libraries with a small donation so that was really nice, too. Check it out:

movies

Those who know me will know that I am a huge fan of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series. I loved the books and the Swedish films are to die for. I was not the biggest fan of the American version but, it was there, so I figured why not. My mind was also blown by seeing Get Out at Target available for just FIVE BUCKS so I obviously needed that. And, for some comic relief, I love all things Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman so Identity Thief was a total must, as well.

A lot of the libraries in my neck of the woods are doing their spring cleaning and many of them have shelves full of free books, movies, and book tapes to select. So, it was nice to grab a few for a little donation even though the ones that I picked out are not my favorite. But, if I need a good cry, I’m glad that I now have Nebraska to help out with that! 😀

What is your favorite movie? What is your favorite form of entertainment? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Moving On Up: Queen Of The Amazon Edition

Helloooo! A little factoid about Lil Red is that I am so incredibly directionally challenged. Frankly, even if I know exactly where I’m going and how to get there, it still feels like I don’t know where I’m going. And, because I refuse to get a smartphone, buying a GPS of my own so that I don’t have to steal the one belonging to my parents was a must. I do a lot of driving for work in areas that I am not always familiar with and the last thing I need is to end up in Timbuktu with a client in the car. So, I went with this here GPS set that I ordered off of Amazon:

haul3

Thanks to all of the points that I had racked up on Amazon from all of my shopping with their credit card, I was able to get this GPS and its accessories for fifty dollars instead of eighty. My new set comes with a dashboard mount or a suction cup one for my front window as well as a sun blocker and an at home and car charger. I was so happy to have gotten all of the goodies with the GPS because they are all much needed and you absolutely cannot beat the price that I got it for. Here’s to Lil Red never getting lost again! 😀

Moving On Up: Family Dollar Haul

Moving On Up: Family Dollar Haul

Hiya! The discount stores during my shopping hauls for moving have been my most frequented. And, my neck of the woods has a ton of them. Lol, us Akronites are partial to our Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Dollar General, and Five Below. 😀 But, for good reason. I was able to knock off some items from my “to buy” list for a fraction of what I would have paid at Target or even TJMaxx, ready for when the movers come. Take a looksee:

haul1haul2haul

As I’ve mentioned in a few of my previous posts, the lighting in my apartment sucks on ice. It is really dark in there with not a ton of windows so I’ve been on the prowl for different lamps to brighten things up. I paid twenty bucks for the two lamps seen above, which will be perfect for my office and my bedside table. I also purchased four jumbo candles for five dollars apiece to create a nice glow that will smell really good! Especially the watermelon one – yum!!

And, finally, my storage bench. I have always loved these, but I have not been able to find just the right one so I was really happy to have snagged this one at Family Dollar. I got it for thirty-five dollars, which I consider a steal. I love the fabric and the shiny silver design and the inside storage is actually very deep so I’ll be able to fit a lot my things in there that I can’t quite find a place for. A successful haul, indeed. 😀

What is your favorite discount store? How do you create good lighting? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
