SHOE HELP!!!!

SHOE HELP!!!!

Helloooo! All of my DIYers and shoe enthusiasts –  I NEED YOU NOW. You know those little rubber thingies that are at the bottom of a heel? Well, whatever that thingie is came off on two pairs of my shoes and my dingus ex boyfriend said he would fix them for me but never did. So, now, Lil Red has to take things into her own hands… or just visit a shoe repair shop. But, I figured I would call into the void on here, first. This is what I’m talking about:

f213shoes2shoes1shoes

I’m very upset about this, because the fire platforms are one of my favorite pairs and I haven’t been able to wear them in months. So, if anyone knows of any hacks to make or somewhere to buy those little rubber thingies, PLEASE let me know. 🙂

Thanks In Advance! ❤

If The Shoe Fits: B.A.I.T. Edition

Hiii everyone and welcome to another issue of If The Shoe Fits! It’s been a while since I’ve had a good shoe haul, there’s no denying that. It’s also true that I really don’t need any more shoes, there’s no denying that. But, ModCloth’s warehouse sale was too good to pass up, and I walked away with three pairs of shoes for just under one hundred dollars. If I bought them all at their original price, it would have been an over three hundred dollar purchase! Like I said, it was a sale that was way too good to pass up. Take a look at these fun mules by B.A.I.T. and let’s discuss:

Sweet daisies, mustard yellow, and a heeled mule make these new shoes the epitome of 1970’s feel good vibes. So retro and too cute for words, I just couldn’t say no to them. ModCloth has always been a haven for vintage and retro inspired duds and I think that these B.A.I.T. mules perfectly embody the style story that they are going for. I feel like I could see these shoes on the racks of a vintage store, but I love that I got them brand spanking new!

I can picture wearing these B.A.I.T. beauties with my dark wash denim A-line skirt that zips up the front and a black cropped sweater with a rainbow on it from Forever 21 for a sassy look that’s straight out of the 1970’s. So fun!

^^^ Love!! Can’t wait for the weather to get warm to bust this OOTD out.

How would you style these mules? What is your favorite type of shoe to wear? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

If The Shoe Fits: Lulu Hun Edition

Hiii everyone and welcome to a new edition of If The Shoe Fits! Recently, ModCloth had a warehouse sale and everything in their markdown section was either forty, thirty, twenty, ten, or five dollars. It. Was. Amazing. When ModCloth has a sale that good, it’s hard not to buy anything and I ended up ordering three pairs of shoes for thirty dollars each. The best part, is that every single pair was well over one hundred dollars. Such a steal! Take a look at this darling heeled oxford pair by Lulu Hun and let’s discuss:

lulu1lulululu3lulu2

It was such fun to open my package once it arrived and be greeted by the adorable design on the box. The retro pinup girl is too cute and the motto “Style starts with shoes” is one that I definitely concur with, considering I can’t stop buying them to save my own life. Although there were many gorgeous clothing options to pick from during the warehouse sale, the trick was that every item you bought was final sale and could not be returned. I don’t have the guts to purchase final sale clothes online so shoes, shoes, and more shoes it was! So not mad about it, though. 😀

As soon as I saw these stunning Merlot and camel heeled oxfords, I just had to get them. The color combination is divine and they are versatile, because they will be great for work or play. There is nothing better than pairing a smart oxford style shoe with sharp skinnies for a cool business casual look. And, they will look so sweet come fall with a sweater dress, blazer, and thick tights.

My only complaint about these shoes, is the quality is not the best. I say this, because while I was putting them back in the box after taking pictures of them, one of my nails went into the material and when I say went into, I mean went through. My acrylics are actually quite dull right now because it’s been a while since I got them filled and they still managed to pierce the colored outer layer completely. It’s a small blemish but I’m not thrilled about it and plan on being extra careful when I wear them.

Despite a minor hiccup, I’m still really happy with this purchase and the bargain price that I got it at. 10/10 would hit the ModCloth warehouse sale again and hope they bring it back soon!

Which stores or websites offer the best sales? What is your favorite thing to shop on ModCloth? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Always Have Something To Wear With These Shopping & Style Tricks

Always Have Something To Wear With These Shopping & Style Tricks

Always having something to wear can seem like a stretch if you’re the kind of person who can never seem to throw an outfit together without panicking about having nothing to wear. To have an outfit to wear, you don’t have to be constantly shopping and buying new things. In fact, doing that is a surefire way to feel like you don’t have anything to wear, as you’re buying for the sake of it instead of because you genuinely like the item and think you’ll get a lot of wear out of it.

Below, we’re going to talk you through some shopping and style tricks that you can use to make sure that you always have something to wear:

Before Shopping, Shop Your Wardrobe:

Before you go shopping for something new, shop your wardrobe. Oftentimes, people forget what they have in there and end up buying pieces that closely resemble things they already own. Do the following:

  • Get rid of anything you haven’t worn in over a year.
  • Get rid of anything that no longer brings you joy.
  • Make sure your items can be spotted easily and give them room to breathe.

Assess Past Outfit Decisions:

Look at your past outfit decisions and work out why you loved/didn’t like an outfit. Maybe it wasn’t comfortable for you or you just hated the material. By doing this, you can begin to really hone in on what works for you and what you should avoid when dressing/shopping.

Have Your Own Personal Color Scheme:

Coming up with your own personal color scheme will make dressing and shopping so much easier. Know the colors that look best on you (and, of course, those that you enjoy wearing most) and make sure your wardrobe is made up mainly of those colors with additional pops of color worked in.

Think Of Three Words To Define Your Style:

By thinking of three words to define your style, you can bear them in mind when shopping and dressing and make sure you’re being true to them. If one main element of your style is ‘comfy’ and you buy a pair of shoes with a huge heel, you’re probably not going to feel amazing when baby deer walking around in them.

Build Up Your Accessory Collection:

A great accessory collection can make all of the difference to just about any outfit. You can visit this website to get a feel for what sort of accessories you like and fill in the gaps in your jewelry box. Sometimes all that’s missing from your look is a gorgeous statement necklace.

Visit A Personal Stylist/Shopper:

A personal stylist/shopper can help you to pinpoint the best colors for you if you’re unsure. You can pick up some valuable tips and, the great thing is, you’ll rarely need more than one session.

And, Finally:

Only buy something if you absolutely love it!

Sugar & Spice OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a new OOTD post here on lifewithlilred! Today, we are going to talk about how to style a Sugar & Spice look that combines all things edgy with a little bit of sweetness to it. This post is also very special, because my boyfriend took all of these pictures! I have so much fun creating camera ready looks and taking pictures with my MAN, and it makes for an amazing date – no credit cards or cash required! Take a look:

Who? What? Wear?

Whenever I am styling an outfit, I normally always go the edgy route with it. It’s rare that you will see me in something purely girly, like a dress without a moto jacket over top of it! But, combining Sugar & Spice gives you a look with dimension and a lot of visual break up to make one’s eyes dance when they look at you. It also keeps an outfit looking like me, which is of utmost importance.

To start with this look, I went with one of my favorite tops from Kohl’s. This Rock & Republic number has literally been sitting, untouched in my closet for years and I have finally realized its glory after all of this time. I love the crosses, jewels, and safety pins adorning it and the touch of glitter on the sleeves and around the bottom adds some unexpected sweetness. With a top that’s relatively busy, you don’t need anything for your bottoms except a pair of solid colored shorts or jeans. So, I went with my Hollister short shorts from TJ’s to continue with the black motif on top.

Now, for some sugar. To add some visual interest to this OOTD, I paired a gorgeous pair of Bonetti Giordano knee highs with one of my favorite pairs of heels. Because everything in my outfit is neutral, the bright floral colors on the knee highs didn’t look costumey and flowed really well with the ensemble. I loved how the heather grey socks looked against the cream Juicy Couture heels, and it all counterbalanced the black top and shorts for a striking but cohesive overall look.

And, finally, we need accessories to complete the OOTD. I chose to use one of my favorite purses from Charming Charlie’s as the statement accessory and then kept everything else pretty simple. With a loud British flag with studs outlining it, you don’t need much more! So, I opted for a big pair of Loft sunnies attached to a belt loop and my long gold chain earrings along with a pair with black crosses at the end of each chain. Any more accessories than that would have felt like too much for this look, especially with the bleak color palette. When in doubt, always go for the less is more option!

I really enjoyed styling and wearing this outfit. It made me feel so confident, and you can’t ask for more than that when creating a killer OOTD!

How would you style a Sugar & Spice look? What are some of your go to accessories? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Giving Any Look The Wow Factor

Giving Any Look The Wow Factor

An important event looms near. It could be a first date, a job interview, or a presentation at school. You’re mentally prepared and feeling confident, but you know that the right look will give you that extra boost you need to turn the tables of success in your favor. But how to get the look right eludes you. You’ve got a pretty good idea of what you want to wear and maybe how you’d like to arrange your hair, but for some reason your look doesn’t pop. It needs a little something extra. Something that will turn heads and get you noticed. Something that will give your look that elusive wow factor.

Let’s take a look at some of the ways that you can do this. Don’t worry, none of them are bank breakers!

It’s all about the eyes:

The eyes are the windows into the soul and whether you’re on a date or in a job interview they play a huge part in how you are perceived. Drawing attention to your eyes and making them look bigger and sparklier communicates openness, honesty, and approachability. But the eyes also command attention and, if you want them to, they can steal a heart. Be sure to shape your brows well to create a flattering frame for the eyes, and never underestimate the power of a good mascara. Also remember to use the color of your eyeliner to your advantage and you’ll have eyes that pop in an instant.

What’s a girl’s best friend, now?

Diamonds are not just gorgeous, but they’re extremely versatile. They can dazzle, mystify, and imbue you with an air of class and sophistication. When they catch the light they can draw the eye wherever you want it to but, perhaps the most beneficial thing that a diamond brings, is the sense of prestige. Check out http://yourdiamondguru.com/reviews/james-allen/ for information about how different colored diamonds can be used in different settings to add an extra wow factor. Diamonds can either create an aura of success or an air of allure. It’s all about how you use them.

The shoes!!!

There’s a reason why one can never have too many shoes. The right pair can make you command attention as soon as you walk into a room. They can change your height, the way you walk, and the way you stand. They can make you seem formidable and imposing or sultry and seductive. Just make sure that you wear shoes that you feel comfortable in. Wincing with every step won’t wow your prospective new boss or your potential new beau!

Belt up!

The humble belt may spend a lot of time unused in your closet, but it’s the perfect way to tie any look together. Plus, it can help to lend you a more flattering shape and prevent a layered look from swallowing you whole. Find a belt that gives your outfit a pop of color and see how it transforms any look.

Now, you’re ready to dazzle with the extra wow factor in all of your looks!

If The Shoe Fits: Free People Edition

If The Shoe Fits: Free People Edition

Hellooo everyone and welcome to another wonderful week here on lifewithlilred! Today, we are going to discuss a new pair of kicks from a brand that I have admired from afar for many a year now – that being: Free People. Oh, Free People. So boho. So chic. So fun. SO. FREAKING. EXPENSIVE!!!! Trust and believe that if I didn’t get these shoes at TJMaxx, then buying them would be completely out of the question. Honestly, the TJ’s price was steep for me. BUT, these cute boots were too fabulous to pass up on and I can’t have a guilty conscience weighing me down. Check it out:

fpfp3fp1fp2

Aside from being a total label whore about finally owning something by Free People, there is a lot that I love about these wedges. And, by a lot, I mean: EVERYTHING. The off white color, the chunky, platform-esque heel, the sparkly pale pink laces. Ugh, they’re perfect.<3

These Free People bootie boots are like a high fashion version of Timberland’s, which is a lot better than it sounds, I promise! Because, seriously, the styling potential for these knows no bounds and, if done properly, they can be an all four seasons pair of shoes. I love the idea of stomping around in the leaves with these bad boys during the fall, but I can totally picture myself avoiding puddles in them during a rainy spring day. And, the neutral off white allows you to rock them with anything and everything while still looking fashion forward. Sweet!

Do I plan on purchasing Free People clothing and shoes from TJMaxx constantly? No, definitely not. But, am I happy to have gotten my new boots to upgrade my fall footwear? Definitely! 😀

What is a brand that you admire from afar? How would you style these boots? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
