Cooling Down

Heyyy! With August coming to an end, the weather in good ol’ Northeast Ohio is finally cooling down. So much so, that I got to break out one of my faux leather jackets and be able to wear it comfortably. Needless to say, I was really FEELING MYSELF and taking selfies was a must. And, obviously sharing them with all of you is a must too! Take a look:

Once cardigan and light jacket weather ensues, I instantly feel happy. Fall weather is my favorite type of weather and I love dressing for it. I can style a mean autumn outfit, and walking around during the day knowing that I look my best is a surefire way to keep my confidence high no matter what I have in store. I can tell in the pictures above that I was feeling great, and I’m looking forward to more fall days to keep that streak going!

What is your favorite season to dress for? What is an outfit that makes you feel confident? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hi everyone and happy Hump Day! Today, we are going to have some fun going over lifewithlilred’s eighteenth Liebster Award, which I was so kindly nominated for by my friend, Beth, over at World Of Beth. This beautiful gal runs a lovely page filled with stories of delicious food and amazing travel along with some really good notes on health and wellness. Beth’s page is a treat, so do be sure to check it out ASAFP! Now, let’s get on to the rules for this award:

The Rules:

  • Acknowledge the blog that gave it to you and display the award.
  • Answer the 11 questions that the blogger gives you.
  • Give 11 random facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 11 blogs and notify them of their nomination.
  • Give these blogs 11 questions to answer.

Q & A:

Who is your favorite Disney character? The Little Mermaid. 🙂

If you could find out one mystery what would it be? I have no idea!

What is your favorite type of cake? All vanilla everything and I love cheesecake.

If you were Prime Minister what rule would you make? No comment. Spoken like a true person who doesn’t talk politics on their page, lol. :’D

What is your most prized possession? My pearls from my grandma.

Who is your favorite fictional character? Harry Potter!

If there were only two seasons which ones would you pick? Fall and spring. Both are not too hot and not too cold, which is ideal for me.

If you could meet any famous person dead or alive who would it be? Marilyn Manson.

  7. Wine spritzers have been my drink of choice lately. So light and summery!
  8. I love taking baths and pampering myself. I can’t wait to go to Lush hopefully sooner than later so that I can restock all of my favorite goodies.
  9. I feel like I eat more pasta than what’s normal for the average human. Lol, carbs are my weakness.
  10. I usually spend my Sundays wearing no makeup and catching up on blogging or my shows on TLC. Guess which one I’m doing right now? 😉

Summer Fun Q & A

Summer Fun Q & A

Hello everyone and happy Monday! Can you believe we’re already one week into July?? Summer has really been in full swing lately, especially with scorching temperatures and summer holiday celebrations. So, now it’s time to recap the season so far with a little Q & A that I concocted! Feel free to spread the fun on your page, too! Let’s get to it:

Q & A:

What is the most summer-like activity that you have done so far? I have been on many a hikes in Ohio’s wonderful Metro Parks and I’ve also gone swimming in one of the lovely lakes that they offer. That was a lot of fun, minus the sunburn!

What is the hottest that it has been in your neck of the woods? It was 96 degrees a few days ago in the A-K-Rowdy, but it had a “it feels like” temperature of 109! Gross.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Mint chocolate chip, but it has to be the green kind!!

What is your favorite beverage to cool off with? I love the Very Berry Hibiscus refreshers from Starbucks but, if we’re talking alcohol, then I love me a Moscow Mule so very, very much.

What is the perfect temperature for a summer day? I friggen HATE the heat, so I would be really happy with a day in the low 70s.

What are you still looking forward to this summer? My family’s North Carolina vacation, even though it isn’t until October. 😦 😦 😦

What would your ideal summer day look like? Sleeping in past seven o’clock, hitting up my favorite outdoor shopping mall called Crocker Park, and enjoying dinner and drinks in the air conditioning!

What is your favorite thing about summer time? My birthday! I turned 24 on June 7th and I always have loved having a summer birthday. There is nothing better than getting drinks on the patio of my favorite bar during an early summer evening to celebrate.

Does the way you eat or drink change during the summer? I would say somewhat. I definitely prefer cold teas over my normal water when it’s hot out. I also think that I enjoy lighter foods like salads and flatbreads more in the summer. Because I don’t like the heat, I’m really just looking for my food and drinks to make me feel refreshed!

What happens when you get too much sun? Pardon my French, but I burn like a motherfucker. I burn, and I burn, and I burn some more. But, now I have a secret weapon up my sleeve: Aloe Vera. That stuff is the best, and I can’t believe that I haven’t used it sooner. It literally got rid of my sunburn after applying it three times a day for TWO DAYS! So amazing!

How would you answer some of the above questions? What are some of your summer time questions for me? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hi everyone and TGIF! Lifewithlilred recently got nominated for its sixth Sunshine Blogger Award by the wonderful and immensely talented Lady Lazarus. If you could have dinner with anyone, living or deceased, who would it be? I always find this question difficult to answer, because I don’t have a set in stone reply. Right now, I’m on a huge Hunger Games kick so probably Jennifer Lawrence.

If you were a pro-wrestler, what would your theme song be? Lunchbox by Marilyn Manson, for sure.

If you could have any job, what would it be? I would actually love to be a Developmental Pediatrician like my mom, but I don’t want to be in school for forever!

What is at the top of your bucket list? To explore Europe in its entirety.

What’s your favorite color and why? Black, because it’s slimming, it goes with everything, and I like it.

What were your top three favorite movies from when you were a kid? Oooooh…. I would say that The Little Mermaid, Shrek, and FRAGGLEHOUSE ROCK (lol) were my childhood jams if memory serves me correctly.

What song evokes the most emotion from you? Beautiful Day by U2.

What cartoon character do you most identify with? None. I don’t do cartoons.

What is the last thing you thought of before bed last night? Probably that I was full because I ate hella pita bread and spinach dip before bed haha.

What is your biggest fear? Not telling.

What does ” The Sunshine Award” mean to you? That you brighten someone’s day enough for them to nominate you, which is really special.

My Nominees (I’m only doing three):

“You Don’t Wash Your Hair?!”

Standard
“You Don’t Wash Your Hair?!”

Hello!! So I have received many a request asking me to write about how I don’t wash my hair, so here it is. Bear in mind, that these are the results for my body. I can’t promise anything for anyone else, so please don’t get mad at me if a similar phenomenon doesn’t happen for your hair! Okay, with that disclaimer out of the way, here we go:

I began dyeing my hair when I was fifteen or so, and even at that age, I was a penny pincher. I would avoid washing my hair for as long as I could to keep the color looking fresh and sleek. But, it wasn’t until red became my staple color that I began thinking about what would happen if I just stopped washing my hair altogether.

Throughout my life, I never had problems with oily or greasy hair and never really experienced dandruff or dryness, either. My hair has always been very healthy, so it made the early stages of my no wash regime easy, because even after a week, my hair still remained nice and fresh. It was awesome.

I think that I was about seventeen when I began dyeing my hair red regularly, and it pissed me off when I would wash my hair and see the color literally washing down the drain. But, still, I was in high school and for fear of people thinking that I was weirder than I already was, I kept with my weekly washing routine. And, all of the while, my hair was just fine. No oil, no grease, no odor, nothing.

I maintained my week or so wash schedule for a while, but then, a new beauty revelation came out about four years ago – dry shampoo. So, you’re telling me, that there’s a product out there specifically made so that you don’t have to wash your hair?? Amazing!! For the next one or two months, dry shampoo became my best friend, and I worked my way up to just not washing my hair, period.

But, then, I noticed a few major character flaws with dry shampoo. It left my hair SO difficult so work with, it looked dusty, and I hated the baby powder smell. I also didn’t see the point in paying for it when my hair was doing fine without any products like that for years. So, I eliminated dry shampoo and washing in one foul swoop.

And, guess what? It was all okay. Even with using product in my hair daily and being a cigarette smoker, my hair has been so used to cleaning itself that it remains oil, grease, and odor free for an entire month. The only time that I get my hair wet now, is when I redye it monthly. And, even then, I only condition my hair because I am so anti shampoo.

I have literally been training my hair for this point in my life for seven years. And now, for a solid four of them, I haven’t been washing my hair at all. My hair is my crowning jewel and its vibrant red summarizes my personality and brand perfectly. And, with a wash free lifestyle, I get to keep my color looking freshly dyed until I need to touch up my roots. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Who else embraces a no wash lifestyle? Who is willing to try out something like that? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Let Me Take A Selfie

Let Me Take A Selfie

HELLOOOO! In the name of fashion and having more updated pics of me on the ol’ blog and social media, I have been taking a lot of selfies lately. Believe me, I’m even starting to annoy myself, but sometimes the pay off is worth it because I really like the pictures seen below:

sarah2sarah1sarah3

As you can tell, I was really FEELING MYSELF in these selfies. I am obsessed with my True Destiny Flower Power Top from TJMaxx and, of course, it wouldn’t be a Sarah Selfie without NYX’s Pure Red Matte Lippie being featured! I was actually in the midst of feeling really emotionally shitty the day that I took these pictures. But, sometimes all it takes is getting dolled up, snapping some pics, and getting compliments from strangers on social media to brighten up the day! 😀

Although taking selfies can be a hit or miss activity for me, when it works it works, and I feel like everything was working in the above pictures. My makeup, my eye color, and my favorite top all combined with the ideal natural lighting outdoors made for a perfect photo op, and I am so glad that I took it. And, trust and believe that I ate hella Mexican food immediately after I took these pictures. #success

What are some of your secrets to taking the perfect selfie? How many selfies do you take per week? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
