Home Upgrades Guaranteed To Attract Buyers

Home Upgrades Guaranteed To Attract Buyers

Buying a home is a momentous occasion in many people’s lives. The process can be daunting, long, and full of highs and lows –  most of us have experienced the drama of finding our supposed dream home, only to lose out on it at the very last minute. Yes, the property market can be fickle. But it is also worth being realistic about it. Very few people actually stay in their first home, or even their second homes, forever. As homes are progressing in value all of the time and as people start to need more room for whatever reason (children being the most common cause), buying and selling property is something many of us do every few years.

But, if you thought that buying a home was hard, just wait until you start selling! Trying to find a buyer for your property that meets your requirements can be a laborious process, and there’s nothing worse than having to drop your asking price because you’re not sure how else to attract a buyer. This, however, should only ever be seen as a last resort. There are plenty of other things that you can do to raise the value of your home so that when it’s time for it to go on the market, you just know you’ll be swarmed with offers:

Get Any Maintenance Issues Fixed: If you’re planning on being out of your house in a few months, it can be tempting to leave that annoying maintenance issue for the next tenants to deal with. However, this could potentially cost you the sale of the house. Buyers aren’t stupid, especially when there is such a huge amount of money at stake.  Don’t try to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes, because you just risk the buyer pulling out at the last moment when they find out what is truly wrong with the house. Spend some time and money getting any outstanding issues fixed – it will pay off, we promise!

Handy is dandy!

Spruce Up The Outside Of Your Home: It’s easy to see why most people spend money on decorating the inside of their homes as opposed to the outside – after all, it’s what’s on the inside that counts, right? Wrong! Well, to an extent anyways. Most buyers now turn to the internet to seek out available properties these days, and the first picture that they are likely to see will be a shot of your home’s exterior. This is your one chance to make a good impression, so make it count! A great place to start can be with new kandla grey porcelain flooring slabs to upgrade your garden or curb appeal. This can really help to attract potential buyers for your property. In addition, if, for example, you have a large double garage, but it is let down by titanium doors, find somewhere local that can provide great garage doors to spruce the exterior up a little. Giving your door a lick of paint and adding some shrubs and plants to brighten the place up can also increase the value of your home more than you might think.

improve3What a perfect color for the door! 😀

Focus On The Kitchen & Bathroom: If you have a limited budget for the pre-selling remodel, it is wise to focus your attention on either the kitchen or the bathroom. These tend to be the most used rooms in the house, and for that reason, they are also the most expensive to remodel. Your buyer will appreciate having a ready-made kitchen or bathroom that they can start using straight away. Not to mention it is a great property value boost too. If you are going to remodel any part of your property, prioritize kitchen & bath remodeling for the best return on your investment.

If you are considering a bathroom or kitchen remodel, it’s a great idea to start with a consultation by a professional team. That way you can determine your budget as well as the must haves in your renovation. To find renovation specialists near you, simply enter a search for “home remodeling contractor“. Go into your consultation prepared with your ideas as well as backup options should your budget not cover your original vision.

The Eiffel Tower is a nice touch! 😉

Kitchen Ideas From Professional Interior Designers

Kitchen Ideas From Professional Interior Designers

You will find that your kitchen can quickly become tired and look dated, which can require a few little updates and tweaks every couple of years. There’s no need to do in depth remodeling every time, but still, a little bit of design and decor work will really go a long way! But with all of this continuous work, you could end up running out of creative ideas for your kitchen. Where do you turn once your inspiration dries up and you just can’t think of how to update the room?

You need to turn to the professionals, of course! Interior designers specializing in kitchen remodeling are constantly working on new kitchens and will definitely be brimming with some fantastic ideas. In fact, here are some amazing ideas that have come straight from professional interior designers themselves:

Update Worktops: One area of your kitchen that will need to be regularly updated is the countertops. That’s because these are often exposed to raw meats and other food products that could easily spread bacteria. If your worktops or counter tops ever get damaged and chipped, they could become breeding grounds for germs and bacteria so it could be necessary to replace them. But, many interior designers believe that you should regularly update yours for style purposes. New materials are constantly coming in and out of fashion, so switching the ones in your worktops could make all of the difference to your kitchen’s overall style!

Consider Getting An Island: If you have the space in your kitchen, you should really think about getting an island right in the middle. This is a lot more fashionable than having a dining room table in your kitchen. Islands can double up as a workstation as well as an area for eating. But an island can also add some definite walkways to your kitchen, which can help with the overall decor flow.

Be Clever With Light: I doubt just having one central light bulb hanging down from the ceiling is going to be enough light for your kitchen. So, you should think about adding additional lighting options. If you have some cupboards at head height, it’s a nice idea to add some lights underneath, especially if they are above a worktop. You might also want to use some very stylish lamps, which can add another element of elegance to your kitchen.

Love that table set!

Plan Your Power: You will no doubt have lots of different appliances and tools in your kitchen that will need electricity to work. If you don’t have enough power points, there will be no way that these will be able to do their job! So next time you come to decorate or work on your kitchen, it is a good idea to review all the power points in your kitchen and see if you have enough for your needs. If you want a few extra ones added, you can always call up your local electrician to come and install some for you.

Cures In The Kitchen

Cures In The Kitchen

If you’re feeling under the weather or suffering from an embarrassing complaint, you might not have to visit the doctor at all. There are a number of effective cures for all kind of maladies sitting right there in your kitchen. Check out these kitchen cures for common illnesses and cut down on those annoying trips to the pharmacy:

Ginger: Ginger doesn’t just give your curry a kick and make your cookies taste better – it can also help to relieve sickness and cure menstrual cramps. Many pregnant women are advised to eat crystallized ginger or drink a tea made with the spice if they want to prevent morning sickness and it is very effective at doing just that. However, what is less well-known is that ginger can also be used to ease the pain of menstrual cramps, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Cranberries: Urinary tract infections are no fun, nor is seeing your physician about the problem, but if you have some cranberry juice in the fridge, you might not have to visit the doctor at all. You see, cranberries contain proanthocyanidins – a compound that can fight the bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. By drinking a small amount of cranberry juice each day, you can protect yourself from further instances of UTIs, so it’s worth stocking up next time you’re at the store.

Cream of Tartar: Cream of tartar is usually used to leaven bread, cakes, and other foods, but did you know that it can help to cure everything from hemorrhoids to Candida, providing instant relief for the embarrassing conditions? Eating foods with cream of tartar in it or on its own might do very little, but if you can mix it with a glass of water and drink it down, it will do you a world of good. If that sounds too disgusting, a good cream of tartar supplement will give you all of the same benefits without making you want to throw up. Take it regularly and you’ll cut your chances of suffering from the conditions again in the future, although there is no guarantee of that.

Milk & Cheese: If you suffer from PMS and the mood swings that come with it, eating more calcium rich foods could help to reduce your symptoms. In fact, studies have shown that women with lower levels of calcium in the blood suffer more from PMS than those who don’t. So, drink your milk and have a slice of cheese daily to keep the condition at bay.

Sea Salt: If painful dry skin is your problem, before you spend your hard-earned cash on expensive skin creams and remedies, combine a cup of sea salt with half a cup of olive oil and massage it into your skin. Do this once a week and it is likely that you will see an improvement in the look and feel of your skin. This treatment, however, isn’t suitable for your face – a mixture of coconut and brown sugar will be better for those delicate parts of the body.

Although these remedies are all tried and tested, it is important that you seek your doctor’s approval if you have any doubts or questions about your condition.

Recipes For A Happier Life

Recipes For A Happier Life

Okay, so this isn’t a usual recipe post. There isn’t one particular set of instructions for you to create an amazing meal. Instead, it is a post which links to a few different recipes that we love.  Ones that are going to make you happy if you are feeling a bit blue, maybe after your holiday or because you are fed up with the weather. But, no matter how you’re feeling, we can all agree that food is awesome.

There is a lot of focus on our health and physical fitness. Some of us work towards our holidays by going for the ultimate bikini body whilst others pack a few self improvement books and read our way to a better place. However, what we fail to do is focus on regularly consuming a variety of nutrient rich, wholesome foods. You know, improving our diet to improve our life. It isn’t going to give you instant results, but eating good quality foods consistently will improve your mental function, mood, and energy levels. Now, let’s get cooking:

So! What should you be eating and where are the recipes?

First of all, let’s talk about fat.  You may have been told that fat is the enemy, but that isn’t true.  Trans fats are the enemy. You find this fat in processed foods like sausages and ready made meals. Unsaturated fat is really good for you. In fact, our brains are made up from 40% fat and we need plenty of it to ensure that our brain stays healthy. Healthy oils can be found in olive oil, avocado, nuts, and seeds. So, our first recipe is this fantastic Quinoa and Sprouted Sunflower Seed Salad & Avocado Dressing from the fantastic Food Spa blog. A delicious way of boosting your healthy fats.

recipe2

Love, love, love avocado!

In addition to these healthy fats, you also need essential fatty acids, AKA the Omega 3 Oils.  Research has shown that these improve mood and reduce depressive symptoms. The best sources of essential fatty acids are oily fish like salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines, pilchards, and trout and you should aim to eat a couple of portions per week. So, here is an amazing recipe for Wild Salmon and Black Rice which will have you topping up on plenty of Omega 3s and a fabulous mood.

Next up is whole grains, fruits, and vegetables:

The best food is whole food – food in its most natural state. Think wholegrain cereals, beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables. They provide us with the fiber, vitamins, and minerals that our bodies need to function their best. So if you want to get fit fast, eat plenty of whole foods. Serotonin, Vitamin B, and Zinc are all really helpful at managing depression.  Eating complex carbohydrates such as oats, grains, brown rice, and vegetables such as squash will release serotonin into the brain. Marmite is a fabulous source of B vitamins or you could also buy fortified wholefoods.

Maple Roasted Butternut Squash with Freekeh is a perfect way of ticking all of the things on this list. Give it a go, because Freekeh is super delicious and the new Quinoa. You know the deal with fruits and veggies: 5 servings a day, okay? If you struggle with that, then buy a juicer or Nutribullet and blitz your 5 a day for breakfast. While it is better to maintain a steady supply rather than take them all in one hit, at least you know you are getting the recommended amount!

Protein, please (for vegetarians and carnivores alike!):

Protein is required for our bodies’ growth, maintenance, and repair. A lack of protein in our diets can lead to irritability, fatigue, and a lack of concentration. Most of us will think of steak or chicken when protein is mentioned. However, you can get plenty of protein in plant based foods like lentils, beans, nuts, and seeds. Soy beans, peas, and broccoli are also excellent sources of protein.

But, if you want a protein kick, then you can’t get better than Steak Frites. A delicious fillet steak, served on a bed of spinach with some sweet potato straw fries on the side. Perfecto! We also ought to add that eating dark chocolate, with 75% cocoa content, can improve your mood because of the protein in it. You’re welcome!

To wrap this post up, let’s talk about water – which we don’t have a recipe for! Water plays a huge role in our brain function. You need to be drinking around 2 liters of water a day to avoid effects like addled concentration, memory, and learning ability. Now, fill up a glass and drink up!

Change These 3 Things For A New Kitchen Today

Change These 3 Things For A New Kitchen Today

Of all the rooms in the house, the kitchen is often the one which people care about the most. Even when you are selling a property, you will find that people tend to go straight to the kitchen to see what it is like. For this reason, it also adds a lot of value to a home, particularly if it has been renovated. If you are looking to improve your kitchen, then there are a great number of things that you can do towards that end. Fortunately, many of them are not too expensive, so you can easily give yourself a brand new kitchen even if you are on a tight budget. Let’s take a look at three things that you can change to give yourself the look and feel of a fresh and new kitchen today:

Appliances: Although they might be strictly practical, it must be said that the appliances in any kitchen do also add to the overall look and feel of the room. There are many great styles which you can choose from these days and it is worth bearing that in mind when you are thinking about changing around your kitchen. Changing the appliances is especially worthwhile if you have had the current ones for a long time. Doing so will also mean that you have a more effective kitchen in practical terms. There is nothing better than a brand new oven for baking, after all. Change your appliances, and you should find that the whole room looks much different in no time at all.

While it might not be the same as a full fledged appliance makeover, you might find that getting your current appliances tuned up could have a similar effect. Whether appliances are brand new or now functioning as they should will still improve your cooking experience. Simply enter a search for “Park City Appliance Repair” (or your local area) to see how the pros can get your appliances working better than ever.

Very nice!

Flooring: There is practically no limit to what you can do with your kitchen floor. If you are looking for a change, then your only real problem will be that you are spoiled for choice. However, that being said, there are some particular favorites which do seem to come around time and again, so it might be worth keeping them in mind. For example, you might want to think about getting some laminate flooring installed, which looks especially nice in kitchen areas. When you update your flooring in this way, the whole room can seem to take on a new life altogether. This is definitely worthwhile if you are looking for a change which is inexpensive and fast.

Counters: The counter tops, where you do most of your cooking, are an important part of the overall look of the kitchen. If you are a fan of the old and rustic feel, then going for some dark, deep mahogany or oak might be a fun way to add fresh life to your kitchen. Or more practically, and no less attractively, you could consider using marble or granite for those counter tops. Whatever you go for, you have that brand new feeling to look forward to. It doesn’t come around that often, so make the most of it and enjoy it! With any luck, your kitchen will be looking like a whole different space in no time at all.

When you are considering countertops, don’t forget about backsplashes to really help make them pop. This can be as bold or as subtle as you would like and is a project even a novice DIYer can do. Explore guides for laying tiles in patterns if you want to try and put your skills to the test!

Whatever you go for in terms of appliances, flooring, and counters, you have that brand new feeling to look forward to. It doesn’t come around that often, so make the most of it and enjoy it! With any luck, your kitchen will be looking like a whole different space in no time at all.

Easy Ways to Update Your Kitchen on a Budget

Standard
Easy Ways to Update Your Kitchen on a Budget

If your kitchen hasn’t been looking its best for a while, now is the perfect time to do something about it. You can combine your spring cleaning with a kitchen renovation project that will make you happy, add value to your home, and ensure that the most important room in the house is looking its best. Whether you are looking to revamp your kitchen yourself or call in the professionals, here are some easy ways that you can update your kitchen:

Refresh Your Flooring: We sometimes neglect our kitchen floor for the simple fact that it is not in our eyeline as much as the cabinets, walls, etc. However, since the floor spans the whole of the kitchen, it is important that it always looks its best. Paying for a professional slate floor restoration or to have your wooden floor polished, for example, may seem like an unnecessary expense, but is something that you should aim to do each year or, at the very least, when your kitchen starts to look drab, because it can add a whole new lease of life to the room without you having to do much else.

Paint Your Cabinets: If you’re bored of your current kitchen cabinets, you need nothing more than some sandpaper, a block of wood, and a can of paint to put things right. Sand down your current cabinets before applying a lick of paint in the color of your choice for a quick kitchen update that won’t cost you very much at all.

Of course, if you are planning on completely renovating your kitchen piece by piece, the cabinets are the best place to start once you have saved and are ready to begin work. The improvement will be immediate and it will give your kitchen a brand new appearance. Look for reputable vendors for your cabinetry like Lovech. The last thing you want is splintering or stuck cabinet doors after you just replaced them!

Get a Handle on It: Updating your kitchen can be as simple as switching out your tired old cabinet handles for shiny new ones. There has never been more choice in the door handle department than there is at this moment, so whether you’re looking for traditional brass handles or something a bit more glam, your local hardware store should have you covered.

Add New Accessories: If your old tablecloth, curtains, and serving tray are looking worn, either upcycling them so that they look fresh and new again, or purchasing new alternatives will give your kitchen a real boost, and it won’t break the bank either.

Reclaim: The rustic look works well in the kitchen, which is why it might be worth keeping a look out for any old and abandoned stuff that might look like a good addition to the area. Old copper pots, wooden beams, and ancient barn doors will all add a unique touch to your kitchen for very little money. Reclaimed wood can also be used to build new shelving units, spice racks, tealight holders, and a myriad of other things that will compliment your kitchen. So, if you’re a keen crafter, this is one possibility for updating your kitchen. If crafting is not your thing but you love the rustic vibe, you might want to consider calling in the pros. From simple to in depth styling options, they will be able to help. Just enter a search for “Kitchen remodeler in Scottsdale, AZ” (or your local area) to achieve your design dreams.

Refresh Your Furniture: Another thing that you can do is refresh your kitchen furniture. Sand and re-varnish your table and chairs or paint them a brand new color for a big change. Or you can reupholster your chairs and even turn your dining table into a work of art using mosaic tiles – the choice is yours.

Blitzing The Kitchen – Things To Consider When Renovating Your Favorite Room

Standard
Blitzing The Kitchen – Things To Consider When Renovating Your Favorite Room

There will come a time when all homeowners realize that their kitchen needs an update. Like it or not, you might have to spend a healthy sum to get the desired results. So, it’s vital that you consider the crucial information on this page before you begin. The last thing you want to do is get things wrong and waste your savings. Thankfully, the specialists you visit to purchase your new units will have lots of cool ideas that you could use. You should always listen to their input because they have lots of experience but here is just a little extra advice:

Marble and Similar Surfaces are Durable: Nobody wants to undertake a kitchen renovation too often. That’s why it’s sensible for you to select durable materials for your work surfaces. Marble tends to cost a lot more than the alternatives. However, it could last more than twice as long. So, you need to see the expenditure as an investment that will save you hassle in the future. People with children in their home might like to purchase some rubber safety accessories for those sharp corners. Nobody wants to take their little ones to the hospital with a head injury because they got excited and started messing around.

Installation Isn’t Usually That Expensive: When you visit your local supplier and choose a new kitchen, they will ask if you want a professional installation package. Smart people will always pay the extra money and leave the job to the specialists. Individuals who fit kitchens for a living can complete an entire room in only a couple of days. Managing the project yourself could mean that you lose your spare time for more than a week. That is especially the case if you work long hours and only have a few moments to yourself each evening. Some suppliers might even throw in fitting for free if you spend enough cash.

Simple Accessories Can Help to Extend the Lifespan of Your Kitchen: There are lots of ways in which you can make sure that you don’t have to repeat the job too often. You just need to look for accessories that could reduce the amount of wear and tear. Soft close drawer runners are an excellent idea because they stop your units from becoming damaged. No matter how hard someone might slam the drawer, it will close at a steady pace. That means there’s no need to worry about damaging the surrounding wood and the drawer itself will continue to work correctly. Best of all? It takes around five minutes to swap your current runners for soft-closing alternatives.

This information should help you to make better decisions when blitzing your kitchen during the next few months. Just make sure that you choose a design that isn’t going to go out of fashion anytime soon. Taking steps to extend the useful life of your kitchen is all well and good. However, it’s pointless if you select something that you’ll have to change in only a couple of years!

Let’s Get Cooking! Check Out These Easy Kitchen Renovations

Christmas is finally over, and hopefully you and your family had an incredible time. If you hosted Christmas this year, you probably had a more stressful time than most people who were guests at other people’s houses. When you invite guests into your home and you have to cook a big dinner for them, you might realize that your kitchen isn’t quite up to scratch. If the holidays shocked you into wanting to make some changes to one of the most important rooms in your home, read on for some tips…

Storage: If you’re finding it hard to find everything in your kitchen, it’s time to improve your storage. A lot of the time, drawers that pull out will make it easier to find items like pots and pans than it is to rummage through cupboards. Make sure that everything is clearly labelled so you know exactly where it is. If you simply don’t have enough cupboard space, go for shelves instead – decant your flour, sugar and other ingredients into labelled airtight jars so they’re a feature of the room as well as easy to use. Break out the label maker or post its until everyone in the home gets the hang of where things go!

Sinks: If your sink isn’t quite big enough, it’s time to get a new one installed. It’s important to have enough space to comfortably be able to do your washing up in the evenings. If there are other issues with your sink like water pressure or the general look of it, you could have the faucets replaced – check out a site like Faucet Assistant to find the faucets to best suit you and your family.

Get yo clean onnnn

Cabinets: A lot of the time, your cabinets can make or break the look of your kitchen. Replacing them is a huge and expensive job that can take up a lot of your time and money, but it’s definitely possible to revamp them without doing anything too major. If they’re made of wood, you can sand them and strip them down, before revarnishing or repainting them to make them look how you want them to. You could also replace the handles or knobs with new ones that you’ve bought online. Find some quirky cool ones and it will be an instant conversation starter when you’re hosting guests.

Floors: It’s very important that you stay safe in the kitchen, where you might be walking around carrying knives, boiling water, and heavy serving plates. It’s important to make sure that the floor is even and not too slippery. If you have any rugs and mats on the floor, make sure they’re fully flat and fastened to the floor so you don’t trip over them. What a disaster that would be!

cook3.png

Pixabay Image

Seating: Before you invest in new seating, it’s absolutely crucial that you consider your individual family’s needs and how you use the kitchen. If you don’t eat in there, or if you prefer your dining room, then there’s no point in taking up a lot of space with a huge dining table! In that case, a breakfast bar and a couple of stools might be a better option. If you want to turn your kitchen into the hub of the house and tempt your recalcitrant teenage children to have dinner with you, make sure that your chairs are soft and cushioned for those sullen, hunched shoulders!

Surrounded By Clutter? How To Carry Out A Post-Holiday Clean-Up Operation

Standard

The holidays are done and gone, and before we know it, Christmas Day will be a distant memory, and we’ll be back to the grindstone. Although most of us love the festive period, it does have its downsides. With family and friends popping in, mounds of gifts and wrapping, and days running into one, it can be tough to keep on top of cleaning. It’s easy to get swamped and end up with piles of dishes on the counters, boxes and rolls of paper everywhere, and tons of laundry to get through. If you’re surrounded by clutter, and you have an endless list of jobs, here are some tips to help you conduct a post-holiday clean-up:

clutter.pngFlickr Image

De-Cluttering: Don’t even think about trying to vacuum the carpets or dust your furniture until you’ve got clear surfaces and floors. There’s no point in trying to clean around piles of laundry or navigate the hoover around new toys, games, or mounds of books and DVDs. Start your clean-up with a de-cluttering session. Before you start trying to find places for Christmas gifts, have a clear out, and throw away anything you don’t want to keep. Take new items out of their packaging, and create a pile for recycling. Make another mound for the trash. Get everyone to tidy their own rooms and you’ll get the job done in no time. Once you’ve got your piles sorted, load the car and take a trip to the nearest waste disposal site. If you’re throwing away items that are in good condition, you could host a yard sale or take a bag of stuff to a local thrift store.

Cleaning: Set aside an afternoon to get the house in order and you’ll feel much better afterwards. Allocate chores, such as doing the dishes, cleaning the bathroom, and vacuuming the entire house. If everybody pitches in, you’ll be finished before you know it. Once you’ve tackled the pots and pans and hoovered the carpets, wipe down the kitchen and bathroom surfaces with disinfectant spray. Then, you can move on to polishing wooden sideboards, tables, and chests. Mop the floors and light some scented candles. Open the windows or use a fan to circulate the air. If you don’t already have one, look out for bargains in the January sales. You’ll find a host of tower fan reviews online.

clutter2.png

Flickr Image

Once you’ve got your home in tip top shape, the last thing you want is to let things slide and end up back at square one. Try and keep on top of tidying and cleaning. Don’t let dishes pile up or dust gather on the stairs. If you wash up every night and vacuum every couple of days, you’ll soon find that you spend a lot less time cleaning. Take the trash out and use diffusers and candles to give your home a fresh, clean smell. It may not seem like the most exciting way to spend the day, but you’ll feel much better after you’ve given your home a good spruce. There’s nothing worse than heading back to work on a miserable January morning knowing that you’ve got an endless list of chores to wade through on your return. -____-

This Guide Will Help You To Create A Kid Friendly Kitchen

Standard

If you have kids, allowing them to help you in the kitchen can have so many benefits. They’ll learn a ton of new skills, have fun, and you’ll both get to bond. However, if you’re going to do this, you need to make sure your kitchen is kid friendly. This guide will help you to create the perfect kid friendly kitchen:

Add A Bright Color: Adding a bright color to the kitchen will make it a lively and more fun place to be for kids. That doesn’t mean that they can’t have fun in a neutral kitchen. You could always use patterns and things to make it pop for them instead. Just remember, you can still have a classy kitchen suitable for adults while making it look fun for kids too. It doesn’t need to look like a play room!

Try Kid Sized Furniture: If you like, you could include a few pieces of child sized furniture. If you like having little helpers in the kitchen and they enjoy helping you, getting them a suitable work surface could actually be a great addition to your kitchen.

Consider Creating A ‘Kid’s Area’: If you do consider adding kid sized furniture, you could always think about making a complete ‘kid’s area’ if you have the room. This could include a blackboard and other accessories that they can use.

Include Fun Accessories: There are so many cool accessories that you can include in the kitchen to make it more fun for kids. How about bright coasters, chopping boards, and other chef kitchen decor? You could also include dress up aprons, tea towels, pastel colored utensils, and so much more!

kids.jpg

Flickr Image

Keep Things Organized: Keeping things organized is key if you want to know where everything is, and this will teach your kids to be organized, too. There are lots of ways you can do this. Some people like to make extra use of their cabinets by sticking hooks and things to the inside of the door so that they can hang extra utensils. Not only will this help your kids to become more self sufficient in the kitchen, but it will also teach them the important skills of staying organized and putting things back where they belong.

Lock Away Dangerous Substances: Make sure that you lock away dangerous substances, either in a high up cabinet or with a sturdy lock. If they’re old enough, you should explain to them why they shouldn’t touch these products. It’s all too easy to mistake a colorful bleach bottle for a tasty drink when you’re a child. You should also make sure that it isn’t easy for them to get their hands on lighters, matches, sharp knives, and scissors.

Child Proof Sharp Corners: Make sure that you also take the steps to child proof any sharp corners in the room to avoid injuries. When kids are a certain height, they could very well cut their head open or damage their eyes on a sharp corner. Teach them not to climb up onto high surfaces either and that you don’t give them an easy way to do it!
