Helloooo everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all of the beautiful mamacitas out there!! In one of the local newspapers that gets delivered to my house there was an article recently about Blue, a Goodwill “boutique” in downtown Kent, Ohio. The article mentioned that Blue only carried new and next to new name brand clothing such as Banana Republic, Nine West, Doc Martin, and Guess to name a few. Naturally after reading the article about the Goodwill company’s attempt at a more high end thrifting experience, my mom and I decided that we would love to go on a shopping trip and look around. Yesterday evening we got into the mom-mobile and made our way to Kent to pop some tags at the thrift shop. It took a stop at the gas station for directions to find Blue, because we were driving around aimlessly with no luck for about ten minutes but thankfully we found it after some much needed help from the sweet employee – and let me tell you, I’m so glad we did! Blue Boutique was tucked away in the heart of downtown Kent, and walking into it seriously felt like walking into any other store in the area. It felt clean and crisp, it was well decorated, and most importantly there was an amazing selection of clothes and accessories to look through. When I read the newspaper article about Blue, I felt pretty ambivalent about the shop being described as a boutique, but after taking a quick scan of the store, that’s truly what it was. It had amazing full wall murals of The Beatles, comfy ottomans, vintage-esque mirrors placed strategically throughout the store, cute little knickknacks showcased on table displays, and fun music playing on the speakers. While exploring the boutique and searching through the clothing racks, I was amazed at how “un-Goodwill” the store felt. Blue was so spacious, unlike a normal Goodwill where all of the clothes are jam packed together in endless aisles and clothing racks. But most importantly, the clothing at Blue really didn’t feel like it was second hand. You know how when you go thrifting you can almost always tell that the clothing you’re shopping through has been really worn, is stained, or has an unpleasant odor? Blue was nothing like that. The clothing felt brand new (some of them still had the original tags on it), there were no visible stains, and none of the clothes had a distinctive smell to it. Don’t get me wrong, I love thrifting as much as the next hipster, but it was nice to be in a Goodwill environment that felt like I was in a high end boutique. While chatting with one of the employees, she told me that Blue is very picky about the clothing that they take into their store, and I have the purchases to prove it! Take a look at my fabulous new finds:
Here’s the usual breakdown of my “new” second hand jackets from Blue:
Lace blazer: Esley, purchased for $15
Emerald green peacoat: Nine West, purchased for $15
Love, love, love! My Esley blazer actually still has the original tags on it, and I’m seriously so thrilled about finding this little beauty! I’ve been in need of a sharp new blazer for ages now, and I finally found one. This little lace number fits like a glove and is a fresh, edgy take on a staple piece. I plan on wearing it to my brother’s graduation this upcoming weekend. And please don’t even get me started on my Nine West peacoat! I’m seriously so obsessed with this coat it isn’t even funny. For one, emerald green is my absolute favorite color to wear. For two, minus the too long sleeves that my mom is hemming, the coat fits perfectly. For three, a Nine West number for fifteen dollars?! Yes, please! And most importantly, for four, this beautiful peacoat reminds me and my family of my beloved late grandma. Every thing about this coat from the color to the classic shape just screams “Grandma Rita” – the most gorgeous, classic Hollywood woman in the entire world. When an item invokes that type of emotion on you, you just have to bite the bullet and make the purchase, and I’m beyond excited to welcome such a timeless piece into my wardrobe.
Thanks, Ryan. ^^^
I’LL WEAR YOUR GRANDDAD’S CLOTHES. I LOOK INCREDIBLE….Oh…you’re back already?…Uhmm…Hey. 😉
I hope all of you guys have a lovely Sunday and a terrific Mother’s Day! What was one of your best thrift store finds? Is there a Blue-like boutique in your neck of the woods that you shop at? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Heyy everyone and happy Saturday! So as you guys know (because I’ve mentioned it over five million times), I only wear black skinny jeans. No blue denim, no other color – just black on black on black. And as you guys also know, I love my H&M black skinnies more than almost anything. So this post is me sending a quick letter of gratitude to my beloved skinny jeans for all of the good that they do and all of the happiness that they bring me. ❤
Dear H&M Black Skinnies,
First off, let me just tell you how much I love you. The day that I bought you at H&M was one of the best days of my life. I’ll never forget the feeling of pure euphoria I felt when I saw you hanging up in all of your midnight black glory. You were SO skinny, SO black, and don’t even get me started on your amazing details like your zippered ankles and quilted knees. It was truly love at first sight. When I tried you on in the fitting room and you slid on like a glove, I knew that we were in for a lifetime of fashion friendship. Thank you for always being there for me – whether that be to make me feel a bit less shitty on a roll out of bed day or to make me feel fierce and fabulous on my days of being a total bad ass. Thank you for making my legs and ass look awesome and thank you for looking amazing with literally every shoe in my gigantic collection…heels, wedges, Nike’s, combat boots, knee high boots, flats, and don’t even get me started on booties! Hot damn! Not only do you look great with all of my shoes – but you literally look terrific with every single shirt and jacket in my vast wardrobe…Tanks, T’s, cardis, blazers, pea coats, trench coats, flowy shirts, tight tops, crops – you compliment them all and that makes my heart feel very warm. 😉 Major shout out to you for not making me look fat, because I’m totally convinced that all bottoms in any other color makes me look like a heifer. And most importantly – thanks for not even feeling like denim, which I’m not entirely sure that you are. You’re sleek, sharp, coated, and the material definitely doesn’t have the feel of blue jean denim which I hate with a passion. I’m not exaggerating when I say that feeling you on my skin is far better than the touch of any asshole man. Men come and go, but a perfect pair of skinnies lasts forever!!! You are perfection, and I’m so happy that you’re all mine.
I LOVE YOU!!!!!
^^^ THEY’RE SO BEAUTIFUL!!! :’) I wear these little babies more often than I care to admit and I’m one hundred and fifty percent okay with it!
Is there a piece of clothing or a shoe in your wardrobe that you love just as much as I love my skinnies? Where did you buy them from? What makes you love them like crazy? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Have a great day! -Sarah
Heyyyy everyone! So as you can see by my featured image, it’s super hot in good ol’ CFalls, Ohio right now. It’s our first summer like day of the year, so what better way to celebrate than by having a little Popsicle party?! Take a look:
My mom got these super delicious jelly bean flavored Popsicles from the grocery store and I’m pretty obsessed. My sweet treat didn’t last too long in the eighty-six degree heat, however! About two minutes after this picture was taken it started melting like crazy! This little impromptu photo shoot was fun and as usual, here’s the break down of each item that I’m wearing in my OOTD!
Bad Ass tank: PacSun, Volcom
Shorts: Kohl’s, So
Wedges: Kohl’s, Apt. 9
Daisy aviators: PacSun
And in case you were wondering about the black lace poking out from beneath my tank top, that’s actually my bra not a bandeau, and it was purchased from Victoria’s Secret!
I’m very excited that it’s finally nice and warm in my neck of the woods, but I’m hoping it cools down just a little! My ideal temperature would be in the high 60’s or low 70’s. When it gets really hot out, I can literally feel my pale skin melting off…Now I know how my cherry Popsicle felt in the heat today! The lovely sunny weather that Ohio has coming up officially means that summer and most importantly my birthday (ha!) are on its way – and this lil lady is freaking pumped!
I hope the weather is terrific where ever you guys are at right now. Is it warm? Chilly? Just right? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Hellooooo everyone and TGIF! How’s everyone’s day going? So far so good? Fabulous. So ever since I started school at Tri-C in mid October, my dad has done something every school morning that I’m insanely thankful for….Every single morning that I have to drive to Cleveland, my dad makes me my coffee for my to go cup like clockwork. (And of course my to go cup is red!!) I can’t think of one single day that he hasn’t made my caffeine for me and it seriously warms my heart to the extreme. The fact that he takes time out of his equally busy morning to make my go go juice makes me so happy. Every single time that my dad tells me that my coffee is ready I get the biggest, goofiest smile on my face. In fact, I’m wearing one right now just thinking about it. It may seem like a little thing to some, but I think that’s why I appreciate it so much – because it’s such a little thing that makes a huge difference. I’m such a daddy’s girl too, so getting that extra TLC from my favorite guy is always such a great way to start out my day. When I have my morning classes, it’s always a struggle to get myself out the door – rushing to the shower to make sure I get hot water, fighting with my sister over bathroom space while she gets ready for work, scrambling all of my books together, ect, ect, ect…So having one less thing to do before I face morning time traffic during my commute to Cleveland is like taking some excess weight off of my shoulders. By the time I get in the Little Red Love Machine it’s such a treat to be able to throw back my dad’s specially made for me coffee and relax. So this is me sending an extra special shout out to my daddy dearest. I love you so much and I thank you so much for always keeping your daughter caffeinated! Thank you for making my mornings a little bit easier and a lot a bit better! ❤
^^^ MARRY ME JACK WHITE!!! I swear there’s a White Stripes song for every occasion. And the very masculine Kate basically inhaling her coffee in the John & Kate Plus 8 spoof basically sums up my life.
Have a terrific rest of your day and I will talk to you all later!!! How many cups of coffee does it take you to get started in the morning? How do you drink your coffee? I for one only drink my coffee black LIKE A CHAMP!!! I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Heyyy everyone! I hope that you’re all having a fabulous Thursday night! Today was my last day of classes for the spring semester at Tri-C, and it went okay, I suppose. I’m not feeling too hot about my final exam for my math class. I’ve never taken a big college exam before and I seriously think that I had an anxiety attack during the test. I went into the classroom feeling fine, but as soon as that paper got in front of me…..no beuno. I started working feverishly ASAP, but my head got super foggy, I was sweating like no other (and I’m NOT a sweaty person), I was shaky, and I was drawing a complete blank on everything. We had two hours to complete the test, and by the time my head was thinking relatively clearly again a half hour had already flown by. When I saw that that much time had passed already, my ass got kicked into high gear and I started working like no other. Unfortunately the final hour and a half went by on double time, and I barely finished the test. I mean, I finished – but there were three or so problems that were only half way done at best. I walked out of the classroom feeling like shit, I seriously could have cried. My entire drive home my stomach was in knots and I was cold and clammy all over just from thinking about possibly failing the exam and my class. As soon as I got home I flopped onto my bed, because I felt completely drained…I had no idea that taking an exam could take that much out of me! After I rested a bit and my head defogged, I grabbed a sheet of notebook paper and made a list of all of the things that I know for a fact I did right and all of the things that I know I did wrong on the test. Luckily, the things that I aced nearly tripled the things that I felt uncertain about, so that made me feel a lot better. I won’t find out my final grade until Tuesday, so it’s safe to say that I’ll be freaking out until then. But here’s to hoping that I passed the class, which I will need a C or better to do. Fingers crossed! Despite the rocky math exam, this semester has been awesome! I learned a lot, I made some new friends, and I have some damn good grades to show for all of the hard work that I put into my classes. So here’s some quick pics of me giving the spring semester the boot, with a good old fashioned “BYE FELICIA!”
^^^ Love that black and white filter! And believe it or not, that second picture isn’t filtered at all! That funky light bright lighting came out of nowhere while I was taking some shameless selfies, and I’m so not mad about it! As you can see, I’m totally rocking my new shirt from when I saw The Used in concert, I love it so much it hurts. (You can read all about my concert experience in one of my more recent posts “The Used Concert!!!!”)
Pretty please keep your fingers crossed for me that I managed to pull out a passing grade in my math class! And as always, keep the love coming with your likes, comments, follows, and shares! I’d especially appreciate it if you got the word out about my recent posts “Just So You Know” and “Look Like Lil Red” so I can make some extra closet space in my room! Thanks a million and have a beautiful night! Much love. -Sarah
^^^ That basically sums up my feelings on math right now. -____- MARRY ME JACK WHITE! ❤
Heyyyy everyone! So not only do I have some figure skating dresses up for grabs as you saw in my last post “Just So You Know” but I also have some of my second hand clothes for sale as well. Usually I take all of my clothes that I no longer wear to Plato’s Closet and the Goodwill…which should have been the case with the items that I’m about to show you – but they really are fabulous and I didn’t want them going to just anyone. Take a look at these fun pieces, and if you’re interested please email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com so we can discuss pricing and I can send you more detailed pictures if you would like!
Here’s the sizes, brand, and where I purchased each of these items:
Blazer with elbow patches: Small. The brand name is unfortunately not listed on the inner tag of the item, but I purchased it at Francesca’s. (For those of you who don’t know, that’s a sweet little boutique in the mall that I live by. Think ModCloth clothing (ish) but for better prices.)
Metallic bottomed skinny jeans: 28R. I got these at the Gap, however I only wear black skinny jeans now!
Tiger decal high waisted jeans: USA size 5, UK size 9. These jeans are Insight brand and they were an online exclusive on http://www.PacSun.com. I love these jeans too much, however they don’t fit me the greatest because they’re high waisted and as I mentioned above – I only wear black jeans now!
I wouldn’t be offering all of you lovely readers these pieces to purchase if they weren’t in completely perfect condition. I’ve only worn all of these items less than five times each and they really are so freaking cute! If you or anyone you know is interested, you can email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com so we can discuss prices and whatnot! Much love. -Sarah
Heyy everyone and happy Thursday! So I don’t know if you guys were aware, but I was a competitive figure skater for ten or so years when I was younger. I have a lot of competition dresses just hanging out in my closet doing nothing, so if you or someone you know is in need of some new skating gear, please send them my way! I couldn’t figure out how to open a WordPress shop, but my email is in my about me section on my blog and is also listed below, so if you reach out to me we can discuss prices and whatnot! All of the dresses are in excellent condition and if you would like I can email you more detailed pictures as well. Take a look:
Here are the sizes of each item:
Green dress #1: Petite
Green dress #2: Medium
Black dress: I could imagine that this dress is a medium. It was a fixer upper dress that one of the skating moms hand made so there isn’t an exact size. I began decorating the dress with burnt orange Swarovski crystals, and I have an abundance of them which I would send along with the dress.
Sparkle skirt: Child Large
Matching sparkle leotard: Adult Small
^^^ How did that get in here?!
Like I said, all of these dresses are in great condition, as they were only used for competition ware. I never practiced in them. If I had any use for them, of course I would keep them – but alas, I haven’t competed in over four years!
If you are interested in any or all of these, you can email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com! And if you know of any lovely skater girls who are in need of new dresses, please pass this on to them as well! Much love. -Sarah
So after my latest shoe haul at Kohl’s which you guys read about in “Monday Update: Shoes, Shoes, Shoes Edition!” I came to the sad realization that I no longer had room on my shoe wall for all of my beauties. I was extremely distressed at this, so I scoured through the house in search of some new shelving to add on with. Luckily, in my dining room we have a white shelf with a bunch of random odds and ends on it that wasn’t really serving much of a purpose, so I emptied it off and hauled it up to my room. (Now the random odds and ends are on the dining room table, which I’ll clear off EVENTUALLY!) Anyways, here’s the finished result of me getting my Martha Stewart on:
^^^ A girl can never have too many shoes, right?
Lugging the shelving on the bottom left side of my shoe tower up the stairs was a pain in my ass, but it was so worth it! Now all of my precious shoesies have a home! And if you notice in the middle green shelf, there’s a picture hanging up….and before you ask, yes, it is a picture of One Direction. Ha! I mentioned before that I got some 1D notebooks for my college classes on sale at Target, and after filling up one of the notebooks I couldn’t resist tearing the cover off and hanging it up. Now the beautiful One Direction boys will forever be guarding my shoe wall, which is fine by me! HUBBA HUBBA. My shoe wall is my happy place, and now that I have a little cubby for all of my children I can rest easy at night. While rearranging all of the random this and thats in my room, I decided to finally hang up my reader map (which you guys know all about) on my wall. Take a look:
My reader map found its forever home in my room right below my picture of the Seinfeld cast, so now when I look up at my wall I’ll see two of my favorite things! I decided to add some decorations to the map as well, now it has this silly tomahawk craft that me and my boo thang, Tyler made together on one of our Middle Aged Monday hangouts and it’s also donning a paper fan that I got at Disney World when my family went forever and ever ago. I have some very precious memories hanging up on my map now and I love having it hanging on the wall for the world to see, rather than on my floor and pushed up against my closet.
Snazzing up my room was such a fun little project that boasted great results. I love when minor changes make a huge difference. I’ve had my room laid out the same for as long as I can remember, so walking into something fresh and new almost feels like entering an entirely different room! If you’re ever looking for something to do on a boring or rainy day, I totally recommend doing a little bedroom (or any room for that matter!) switch up! New is fun, and there’s nothing better than refreshing something blah with quick and easy changes!
I hope all of you are having a fabulous Hump Day! What was one of your favorite redecorating projects? Did a DIY project ever go severely wrong? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Goodnight! -Sarah
