Help Me Help You!

Hi friends! Now is the time to support the creative endeavors of our friends in the community more than ever. We’re talking our musicians, artists, cosmetologists, chefs, and everything in between. Hello! This past week, lifewithlilred was nominated for its first Real Neat Blog Award by my friend, Becki, over at Bekkibee22. Becki has a wonderful blog filled with cool and relatable content and I have so enjoyed getting to know her better as we both continue our blogging journeys. 1. What is your go-to make-up look? When I wear makeup for a normal day, it is all about huge lashes, rosy cheeks, and a gold eyeshadow. Then, I’ll typically apply my signature red lip for a night on the town because my look goes from day to night really easily.

2. What is your favorite lip color? Red, red, red. Oh, did I mention RED?!

3. What is your favorite hobby? I love to write and figure skate. And, of course, I love shopping!

4. What is your favorite TV Series, which you can re-watch all over again? Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Parks & Rec.

5. What is one thing you wish you learned? That it’s okay to do things differently from other people. The most exciting thing in life is making your own path.

6. What is your favorite bath or shower product? I love the body butter by The Body Shop and I also adore the bath bombs from Lush.

7. What is your fondest memory? Why? I loved going to Universal Studios in Florida with my family for the first time. Seeing The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter all together is hard to forget. We were all so happy and it was so much fun.

Hanging In There?

Hanging In There?

Hi! I just wanted to do a check in to see how everyone is doing because I think we are all getting to the stir crazy point of our stay at home orders. Things are difficult right now and I want to remind all of you that it is okay to be upset! We have all literally never dealt with anything like this before and there is no right or wrong way to feel so hang in there, as our inspirational kitten meme says.

When all of this started, I thought that I would be fine if I just didn’t let myself get frustrated. This was a huge mistake and, as we learned from my mental breakdown when my nails weren’t successful, just the smallest straw can break the camel’s back when you are bottling everything inside. So let it out!

Blogging has been a huge help to me during this crazy time and I really view it as my online journal right now, especially when I can’t frequent TJMaxx and show you all what’s good! Find your medium that helps you express yourself and dive in. Write in your diary, paint a picture, or whip up a delicious dessert. Immerse yourself in something that makes you feel good and watch your mood improve vastly.

It was such a pleasant surprise because I haven’t been nominated for an award in forever and I’m hoping that they make a comeback because they are such fun to complete and pass on! Are you familiar with SEO strategies? Have you optimized your site yourself? Did you do off site or on site SEO for your blog or website and are you happy with the results? I am but I typically don’t talk business on blog posts!

What is the most embarrassing clothing item you have ever worn? Normally I love my Sexy Raggedy Anne Halloween costume but I remember wearing it when I worked in the mall and had to pass out candy for Trick Or Treat. I was so embarrassed but a bunch of dads definitely loved it, lol!

If you were given $750 to spend on anything you wanted, what would you buy? I would pay my rent for the month and then go to TJMaxx to spend the rest. 😀

If you had enough money that you never needed to work again, what would you do with your time? I would like to travel and finally get a pet because I would be home more often. A puppy and a bunny, please. ❤

If you could start over your life and change one thing, what would you change? Mmmm… I would have liked to do a bit better in high school so that I would have started college right away. But I’m happy with how things turned out.

What do you consider your greatest strength, your greatest weakness? Greatest strength is probably my personality and greatest weakness is that I can be pretty sensitive which is annoying sometimes haha.

What have you tried lately that is new and exciting? Playing Animal Crossing while riding out this stay at home order!!

What was the greatest adventure in your life so far? Dating my boyfriend and running two businesses.

What makes you happiest and when you think about it you cannot help but smile? My family, our two dogs, and my boyfriend.

Reader Map DIY Craft

Reader Map DIY Craft

Hi! One of the things that I love about blogging on WordPress is how they tell you what countries are reading you every day on your stats page. When I first started lifewithlilred, it was always exciting to get a new country reading me and it still is. So, I decided to pin a world map to a bulletin board and placed a thumbtack in the designated position for each country that I had readers in:

Over five years ago when I began my reader map, my dad and I spent an entire afternoon locating each country so I could place a pin to start keeping track. It was a fun and downright educational way to spend some time and I thought that it was a great craft for my blogger friends to work on, especially when we all should be practicing self isolation.

Dig up an old map from your school days or print one out for yourself and you will get a visual representation of your blog’s global klout by the end of the project. I love having a reader map and the best part? Adding new thumbtacks to it as new countries start reading me! My most recent pin being in Seychelles. 🙂

Just Saying Hi!

Just Saying Hi!

Hello! Wow, what a weird time amiright? Ohio’s stay at home order has been officially pushed back to May first so “normal” life seems even farther away than ever. I am so thankful for my quarantine buddy, Johnny, who has kept me company and sane this whole time. I am also thankful for our new addiction of Animal Crossing for also keeping us company and sane this whole time, lol.

It’s a very awkward time to be a blogger right now because it’s sure hard to make content when you can’t go shopping anywhere/do anything. So, major kudos to everyone still sitting down at their laptop and making posts happen even if they have nothing to do with your regular subject matter because it’s difficult.

I, for one, am struggling with keeping up with my once daily posting. So, I thought that it would be fun to accept writing prompts in the comments for future posts. It could be anything that comes to mind or a question that you might have for me. And, I’ll reply with a writing prompt back for you. Let’s see what happens!

Happy Haulidays: Blogging BFF Edition

Helloooo! Lil Red had a terrific day on Monday compliments of the United States Postal Service. I received the rest of my shoes from Dolls Kill AND a surprise Christmas present from the beautiful Kate of Live In The Nautical. I was so excited to see something from my Gemini twin and blogging soul sister, especially after a fantastic hour and a half FaceTime session the week before. :*)

Kate is an amazing gift giver and I was so blown away by the gorgeous bracelet by Emerson Victoria that it literally made me gasp when I saw it. And, a Golden Wonder bath bomb from Lush doesn’t hurt, either! Check it out:

When it comes to gift giving, Kate always seems to know what you need before you do. I had no idea that a wrap around bracelet with silver skulls peppered in was my latest obsession until I’ve worn it every day since Monday! Whether it be a cute piece of home decor or a Harry Potter themed bracelet, Kate will manage to find something that is so personal to you because, like the wonderful friend that she is, she listens and pays attention to things like your favorite pattern or if you prefer gold or silver jewelry (Or black, in my case!).

I am incredibly thankful to have had Kate in my life for the past several years now and I’m so happy to have shared another holiday with her. Despite being in different states, we still can send each other holiday cheer and text nonstop, as per usual, and that is so special to me. I feel proud to have Kate as one of my dearest friends and am looking forward to another Blogger’s Conference hopefully in 2020! ❤
