New Chair, Who Dis?

New Chair, Who Dis?

Hello!!! My grandparents ran a funeral home in Cleveland and it was my favorite place in the world. So much so, that I have several pieces of furniture and art from the home in my apartment. While a majority of the home decor I have is in excellent condition, one of the chairs that resided in my living room has definitely seen better days. The fabric was torn, the springs were shot, the cushions were worn, and it was basically a hot mess. So much so, that my in laws and aunt in law decided to have it reupholstered as mine and Johnny’s Christmas gift. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to take “before” pictures, but here is the end result:

image_50754561(1)image_50462465(3)image_50737153image_50785281(1)

When Johnny’s mom came to pick up our chair last month, she also brought along at least thirty books of fabric swatches from the person she hired for the job. Johnny and I were hoping for some awesome spooky prints like bats or ghosts and found nothing that came even close. We were basically flipping through swatches that would have been more appropriate for a carpet for several evenings in a row. By the time we got to the very last book, we had resigned ourselves to choosing the least bad option and calling it a day. Then, we got to the last page and found the fabric that you see above. I am so happy that we kept on trucking through all of the books or we never would have found it!

The original fabric on the chair had a deep navy background with light pink and white flowers and green leaves. This chair dates back to 1969 and while it was gorgeous in its prime, it needed an update badly! I am in love with the new fabric featuring red pagodas, blooming cherry blossoms, twisting bonsai, and flowing rivers. As soon as we saw the swatch, we knew it was the one and were confident that it was going to turn out amazing. And, when we finally saw it in its completion, I couldn’t believe that it was better than we ever could have imagined.

The person who brought this chair to life is truly a master of their craft. The chair is much more sturdy and comfortable with fresh padding and the fabric is nice and soft but it feels so durable. We got two throw pillows that were made with leftover fabric too! Johnny’s dad also played a part in getting this chair back up to snuff by removing and replacing the rotted wood at the base. He is so handy and the effort from both of them gave us a chair that will surely last for another almost fifty-five years!

This belated Christmas gift is one of the best ones that Johnny and I have ever received and we are so thankful to our family for making it happen. I think that my grandparents would love it too!

Has any of your furniture gotten a makeover before? What is your favorite piece of furniture at your house? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Jesus Christ Superstar At EJ Thomas Hall Review

Jesus Christ Superstar At EJ Thomas Hall Review

Hello! My hands down, all time favorite musical is easily Jesus Christ Superstar. Random, I know, but I just love it lol. Last year, I was lucky enough to see it for its 50th anniversary tour at Playhouse Square and it was amazing! So, needless to say, I had to get tickets when I learned that it was coming to EJ Thomas Hall at the University Of Akron this month. On Tuesday, Johnny’s mom and I enjoyed a wonderful night at the theater and it was an absolute blast. This is the second year in a row that I have seen the show and I can only hope for a threepeat next year! 😀

image_50441473(4)image_50436097(7)

While EJ Thomas Hall is a sizeable theater, it truly has nothing on the Connor Palace at Playhouse Square. This was okay, though, because they still made it work and the set was the exact same as at Playhouse, just on a smaller scale. The main difference of the EJ Thomas Hall performance was the run time of the show. By cutting out the intermission, lengthy intros and outros, and longer choreography sequences, the show was barely over an hour and a half long. Basically, one song would end and the next one would begin immediately. Any other time, I would have been upset by this choice – without the buffer music, this production at times sounded cacophonous. However, since it was a week night and I had seen the show before, it was A-okay with me!

Prior to going to the EJ Thomas Hall performance, I had essentially made up my mind that the actors at Playhouse Square would blow this cast out of the water. And, in some instances, I was right. The chorus in this performance was not strong at all and they were very difficult to understand at times. I wasn’t particularly thrilled with Jack Hopewell’s portrayal of Jesus, either. Don’t get me wrong, he is an insanely gifted singer but I didn’t feel the power of his voice in his presence, which is such a key component for that character.

My main issue in the casting was actually not Jack Hopewell but for Pilate, who was played by Nicholas Hambruch. Surprisingly, Pilate is one of my favorite characters in the show because I love his songs and the traditional vocals that are usually used. Normally, Pilate has a medium range voice that can go into a higher register easily. Hambruch’s vocals remained guttural and growling throughout the entire performance with no range or change whatsoever. I understand what they were trying to do by making Pilate seem menacing. BUT, during the moments when he was trying to show compassion to Jesus, his vocals just came out as insincere and it didn’t match up to the lyrics he was singing.

Despite some duds in the cast, there were other members that simply blew me away. Elvie Ellis as Judas, for example, blew my mind. He was fantastic and his vocals reminded me so much of Carl Anderson’s in the 1973 movie. In fact, I thought he was better than the actor we saw at Playhouse Square. Another all star in this cast was Faith Jones who played Mary Magdalene, and was also light years better than any other portrayal of the character I have seen before. Mary Magdalene’s ballad songs are gorgeous, but can be quite boring when done wrong. I had never seen such a powerful, sure of herself portrayal and it was spectacular. Strong, crystal clear vocals and a confident presence went a long way in helping Jones steal the show.

One final cast shout out has to be given to Erich W. Schleck as King Herod, who was completely fabulous. I love the pure vaudeville vibe of Herod’s Song that the 50th anniversary tour used and Schleck tapped into this effortlessly. His lanky body high kicking across the stage was everything and it was so amazing to watch his over exaggeration without going overboard. Schleck was able to go from cutesy to sword brandishing scary at the drop of a hat and this was another show stealing performance. Quite impressive, considering that it was his only song!

Although there were some things about this viewing of Jesus Christ Superstar that I didn’t care for, I still enjoyed it so very much. The best part was being able to go with my mother in law for a night on the town. Nothing is better than an evening at the theater with amazing company! ❤

Have you been to the theater recently? What did you see? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Hot Pink & Tiger Orange Nails

New Hot Pink & Tiger Orange Nails

Hello!! I had a simply lovely day on Tuesday and can’t wait to share with all of you in the next few posts. I visited my loved one at the hospital, got my nails done *finally*, prepared a gorgeous OOTD, and saw Jesus Christ Superstar in Akron with my mother in law! Due to family emergencies, I had to cancel my fill last week and had been looking forward to a trip to Elysian Nails every time I caught a glance of my grown out talons. They were really, really bad! Thankfully, the team at my happy place always gets me right and I am loving my freshly done claws:

image_50373377image_50438401(5)

Unfortunately, my favorite tech from Elysian Nails moved onto a new job so I have taken to scheduling appointments with anyone that I can get. My preferred choices are usually all booked up and that’s fine because all of the employees at Elysian are excellent. Due to the rush of spring nails and pedicures, old staff members have been brought back and I actually ended up having an appointment with one of my least favorites. The few times she did my nails in the past, she was so rough and it made for a pretty unpleasant experience. However, she really turned things around this time and while I wouldn’t go to her again, I still enjoyed my time at the salon and zoning out to HGTV. 😀

For my nail polish colors, I wanted bright, springy hues and had highlighter colors in mind. The weather in Ohio has been lovely and I wanted my nails to reflect it! To start, I chose a vibrant tiger orange and went from there. I decided that pink would be a nice compliment and selected a bottle of hot pink polish. But I am calling BS! It looked pink in the bottle but it applied as a cherry red. I didn’t care enough to switch out to the flamingo pink I was eyeballing and I still like this combination all the same. It reminds me of Taco Bell sauce packets and I see absolutely nothing wrong with that!

Spring has finally sprung and I am ready for some fun in the sun with these nails! They are exactly the pop of color I needed and I am eager for my appointment next month with one of my go to girls… I actually just booked the appointment!

What color of nail polish do you have on? What is your favorite springtime activity? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Lil Red’s Book Club: The Club By Ellery Lloyd Edition

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new edition of Lil Red’s Book Club! Without giving any spoilers away, as always, we will be discussing a thriller by Ellery Lloyd called The Club. I have been nursing this book for a while because I haven’t had much free time to read and I was very happy to be done with it; Partially because it took so long and partially because it wasn’t my favorite book in the world. It definitely fell under the “pretty good” but not great category! Before we begin, I will be placing a big fat trigger warning on The Club for murder, violence, and rape. Now, let’s get to it:

Screenshot 2023-04-12 at 06-48-24 Sarah Mushenheim (@lifewithlilred94) • Instagram photos and videos

The Home clubs are a celebrity’s playground with ultra lux resorts in locations ranging from London to Italy and Manhattan. There is an insanely high membership fee and with that comes the privilege of privacy. No cell phones are allowed on Home properties so the members have no fear of paparazzi or unflattering photos and have the freedom to do what they want when they want. The Home clubs have been in the Groom family for a long time and was passed down to the eldest, Ned, after his grandpa’s death. After a fire burned down the original location, Ned began expanding his empire to what it is today and did it almost all by himself with minimal help from his younger brother, Adam.

Now, Ned is preparing to launch the most ambitious Home club yet; Island Home. Yeah, he bought an entire island for his new resort and the caveat is that it can only be accessed when low tide reveals a causeway from the mainland to the island. Ned is a loud, brash man that can be difficult on a good day to work with, but his staff remains ever faithful. To assist him, there is his loyal PA named Nikki and the Hospitality Manager, Annie. A new staff member named Jess has also been welcomed aboard as the Head of Housekeeping. Before the weekend long launch party begins, it is anarchy on the island as everyone works diligently to turn Island Home into the best one ever.

By the time the rich and famous arrive on the island, it is perfect with huge cabins, a spa, gym, underwater restaurant, and private screening room just to name a couple of the many accommodations. Before a big launch, Ned likes to invite his chosen few to a feast to catch up, eat, drink, and be merry. The night, however, takes a drastic turn when Ned announces that there will eventually be a package waiting in the room of four of his most wealthy, celebrated guests. The packages will arrive at different times and each member is very anxious to find out what it could be. And, what it is is something that they would never expect.

The first package delivered is to a Jackson Crane – well known actor and husband to model and humanitarian, Georgia. After the dinner party, Jackson returns to his cabin to find a memory stick and a demand for an exorbitant amount of money for his yearly membership fee. And, one by one, the other three of the chosen receive their “gift” too. These memory sticks reveal the deepest, darkest, career destroying secrets of each member and all of the recordings were done in their rooms of various Home resorts. The asking fee to keep their secrets at bay is astronomical and even with all of their wealth combined, eventually the well would run dry. Essentially, Ned now owns them.

Other than Ned, Annie, Adam, and the chosen, no one on the island knows that they are constantly being recorded and continue to go about their weekend at Island Home. And why would they suspect anything, anyways? The whole point of Home clubs is to not be constantly recorded. As the celebrities enjoy and the staff caters to their every need, plots of murder begin to form and not just from the guests being blackmailed. It turns out that high ranking members in the Home hierarchy have secrets too. Nikki, Annie, and Jess all have a past that directly correlates themselves with guests on the island and have vengeance on the mind as well.

The grand finale of the Island Home launch party is an immersive theater event that will take the members around the island and back to the Manor to party. To keep everyone’s identity a secret as they wander the grounds and for the name of theater, everyone is required to wear a cloak and mask. It is the ideal scenario for revenge to be exacted and as the night plays out, several people meet their demise. What will become of the blackmailed guests of Island Home and the man who grew wealthy from their secrets? Read The Club to find out!

There were several things about The Club that I enjoyed. I thought that the plot was very interesting and loved the idea of these “private” places where celebrities could let their hair down for good or bad. I admit that I am a sucker for all things lux so I also really liked to read about all of the clothes, accommodations, and locations being described in the book. However, there was something about The Club that just didn’t connect with me no matter how hard I tried to make it happen.

The Club is told from the perspective of Jess, Nikki, Annie, and Adam and you all know I love a multiple narrator book. The problem was that I couldn’t stand any of them! Literally none of the key or supporting players in The Club were likeable in the slightest and it made for a very dry and stilted read. For the most part, I liked the ideas of each individual chapter but I couldn’t get into the characters as they spoke their piece. Not only that, but this book’s grand reveal left a lot to be desired and each twist and turn could be easily guessed before it happened. While nothing pleases me more than getting reveals right, I like to be surprised even more than that.

I feel very torn about The Club because the idea of the book was a winner but the execution just wasn’t there for me. Overall, I am going to give it a four out of ten stars. If this review sounds interesting to you, give it a try because it was still kind of fun. If not, you can most definitely skip on this book!

What are you currently reading? What should I read next? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sweaters In Spring OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Sweaters In Spring OOTD! For last week’s OOTD, I had to resort to using my tripod for pictures because Johnny was feeling under the weather so I was very happy that my master photographer was back for this shoot. It was an alright experience using the tripod and I am glad that I got a feel for it in case I ever have to use it again. However, the convenience of having an in house photographer and OOTD shoots that last all of five minutes definitely outshines independently taking my pics. Plus, only Johnny can capture the outtakes that make for a good blooper reel! Check it out:

You may have noticed in several of the past OOTDs published that I have resorted to taking pictures on the balcony of my apartment. I know, I know – no brick wall in sight! As much as I would love to go out and about with Johnny on Saturday, our designated picture day, we have much more pressing matters to tend to. Every Saturday for the past month and change, Johnny and I or just myself have gone to visit a loved one in the hospital. Then, I do my makeup and put an outfit together when we get home and do a quick photo shoot before becoming one with our couch.

The balcony is, admittedly, not the most exciting place for a shoot but, hey, you work with what you’ve got given the situation and it works for us! If you are wanting to create content, but are too wiped out to go anywhere then it is A-okay. If you have a good imagination, as I’m sure you do since you like to write, content can be found anywhere! Whether it be taking pictures on your porch, writing about your favorite knick knack, or simply writing about your day; you are still creating something and that’s great. Life happens and the blogosphere understands – we are all proud of you simply for writing and being in this wonderful corner of the internet that we have made for ourselves. Write on, no matter the situation – it always helps me feel better and it will help you too. 🙂

For the time being, you can find me posted up on my balcony and it’s all good. I wouldn’t trade my time at the hospital for the world! Keep it posted for more fun on lifewithlilred and I will see you all tomorrow. ❤

What do you do when you get writer’s block? How often do you write for your blog? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sweaters In Spring OOTD

Sweaters In Spring OOTD

Hello!! Ohio is slowly but surely crossing the threshold from winter to spring and I am so there for it! While I am especially partial to warm spring days, I am okay with the chilly ones too as I live for light jacket weather. This time of the year is also fun to dress for because lighter fall pieces can be incorporated into OOTDs to combat the cold in. For my Sweaters In Spring look, I did just that and mixed a few cold weather staples into the mix for an adorable OOTD that can be easily replicated. Check it out:

image_50429697(6)image_50418945(6)image_50419969(5)image_50459137(8)image_50387201(4)image_50455297(1)

Who? What? Wear?

Striped Sweater: Cynthia Rowley, TJMaxx

Jean Shorts: American Eagle Outfitters

Snakeskin Print Kitten Heels: Splendid, TJMaxx

Knee Highs: Target

Lightning Bolt Earrings: I got these at Universal Studios forever ago on vacation!

Spring weather in Ohio typically follows the pattern of a cold morning and a warmer afternoon and flip flopping temps can make it hard to decide what to wear! The day I took these pictures, I knew that I wouldn’t be outside other than walking to and from my car so I chose to throw caution to the wind and put on shorts even if it was cooler outside. Of course, the outfit needed a few modifications to make it fully weather appropriate and I was very okay with this; I am SO sick of wearing jeans!

For this Sweaters In Spring OOTD, I began building the look with my Cynthia Rowley striped sweater in mind. I absolutely LOVE this simple but sweet sweater and the red heart makes for an eye catching pop. It is so light but cozy and is such an ideal option for a crisp fall or spring day. This sweater is also a great layering piece because it is nice and form fitting; if it’s a bit too cold out, literally any style of jacket will work well on top of it.

Another reason for selecting my navy striped sweater was because I knew how cute it would pair up with denim shorts. This was a no brainer decision and I selected one of my go to pairs from American Eagle. These shorts feature a midrise fit, which I really appreciate because it is SO hard to find bottoms that aren’t high waisted. I also liked that this particular pair wasn’t distressed as I knew that I would have a few different patterns in this look and didn’t want it to be distracting.

Originally, I planned on wearing tights underneath my shorts but that idea fell short. I tried a few different pairs on, but it was doing nothing for me and I set my sights on knee highs instead. Although tights would have kept me slightly warmer, the knee highs were good enough and still covered up a majority of my legs lol. I have had the pair of argyle knee highs I selected for forever and they were a perfect pair with the navy sweater. The green and cobalt blue in the pattern also provided another little pop of color, which is always fun. 😀

For accessories, I chose to keep things minimal because there were three separate patterns in this look and they served as an accessory in themselves. Since I had an open crew neck on top, I put on a pair of dangly lightning bolt earrings to enhance my neck line. The shape added a playful touch of movement, which was needed as all of the other components of this look fit close to the body.

And, finally, I chose my kitten heel, pointed toe, snakeskin patterned booties by Splendid for the shoe department. These are one of my favorite pairs and they work so well for work or on the go. They looked so darling paired with the knee highs and were a unique addition that worked despite a drastic change in pattern and palette. This was okay, though! It is totally fine to stray from the motif of your look for the shoes; as long as the rest of your OOTD is cohesive, it will look like a decision you made rather than just throwing something on. 🙂

I felt ready to take on the day or at least page through a few novels in a bookstore in this scholarly sweet Sweaters In Spring OOTD! Keep it posted tomorrow for the blooper reel from this look! ❤

What is your favorite pattern to wear? Have you done any spring shopping recently? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bunnies On The Town

Standard
Bunnies On The Town

Hello!! This past week has been very difficult for Lil Red and Johnny has definitely made things so much easier/better for me. He worked hard while I was gone to spring clean our apartment, make minor repairs, and transform our bunny proofed area the way I always envisioned it! When we first brought Melvin and Penelope home, we put them in a play pen for their recreation time for about two days before we realized it was not the move. Then, Johnny bunny proofed and they were able to free roam while their play pen turned into the corral for all of their supplies.

This week, Johnny took it upon himself to make the changes I wanted but simply didn’t have the time or energy for. He bought storage bins for all of the bunny supplies, moved them to the closet, and used parts of the play pen to create a protective barrier around the couch which they so love to hide underneath. This was all well and good but we agree that the best improvement was the fact that the bunnies could finally play on their safety town rug… and Johnny too:

image_50799361image_50438145(6)image_50727425(1)

Johnny invested in this nostalgic safety town rug when he was buying bunny proofing gear at Menard’s. It had been sitting sentinel in the play pen for so long underneath all of the bunny supplies that I almost forgot about it! Now, it is cleared off and ready for the bunnies to take over the town. Of course, Johnny had to have the first go at playing on it and took his pinewood derby cars for a spin. It was so cute and the test drive was very well deserved. ❤

After Johnny had his turn at safety town, it was time for Mel and P to explore their new digs and guys… They freaking love it. As soon as we opened the door to their hutch, they both ran right towards the rug and all of the free space that they didn’t have before. While Pen took a leisurely stroll around town, Mel just went insane lol. He was showing off with huge hops, running around in speedy circles, and destroying everything in his path on the rug! The Chewy boxes are cool and all and Penelope still remains very partial to them but I think we found Melvin’s new favorite activity. 😀

Having Johnny put my grand plans for our bunny proofed area into effect was such an amazing surprise for me and our little gremlins. And Johnny got to enjoy the fruits of his own labor too so it was a win/win/win. Chez nous is turning into the ultimate hangout for bunnies and humans alike!

Did you ever go to safety town? What is something nostalgic to you? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Lil Red’s Art Gallery: Timber Top Hall Of Fame Edition

Lil Red’s Art Gallery: Timber Top Hall Of Fame Edition

Hello! Johnny and I live in the Timber Top apartment community and it has truly left a lot to be desired this past year. Someone passed away on the property due to carbon monoxide poisoning, an apartment complex caught on fire, and inclement weather has left us with no heat or power for days. Due to all of these utter failures from the management company the property is under, TTop received a not so glowing review in the Akron Beacon Journal this past December. Johnny’s dad saved it for us and I have been saving it until we can get it framed.

This past week, I came home to a fabulous surprise… Johnny found a perfect frame for the article! I can’t wait to hang it up:

image_50442241(5)

At Johnny’s work, they were getting rid of lots of random odds and ends for spring cleaning and the employees were allowed to take anything home that they wanted. Johnny was late in the game to receive the memo so it was pretty slim pickings by the time he got around to scavenging lol. That’s okay, though, because he walked away with exactly what we needed to display our lack of pride in the property management company. The thrown together wood frame fully embodies our haphazard labyrinth of old, wooden apartment complexes to the T and I am obsessed! 😀

It has been an insanely crappy week in Lil Red’s world and this was just one of the many surprises that I returned home to after being gone almost all day every day. Johnny took it upon himself to give the apartment some much needed spring cleaning one day. The next, he went to Walmart and got storage bins for all of our bunny supplies, which I have wanted for forever. And the following day, the piece de resistance of our new wall art. No matter how sad or run down I was feeling, Johnny always made sure that I would have a smile on my face as soon as I got home. It definitely worked! He is simply the best. ❤

Johnny gave me the job of finding just the right spot in our apartment for our Timber Top Hall Of Fame picture and it is a challenge that I can’t wait to take on. This was a five month in the making idea and it couldn’t have turned out any better, thanks to my sweet husband!

What was the worst apartment you ever lived in? Have you gotten any amazing surprises recently? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy Birthday, Sister!!!

Hello!!! Today is a fantastic, wonderful day because it is my big sister, Kristen’s, birthday!! Kristen and I are barely over two years apart in age and she was and will always be my first best friend. She is such an amazing sister, daughter, and mother and I am so indescribably proud of her. Thanks to Kristen and her equally awesome husband, Ramon, I have two precious nieces who are my world. They are the happiest, most loved little girls and I can’t sing praises of their parents enough. A sister is a gift and I am so thankful for mine:

IMG-9337IMG-1239IMG-9903IMG-7824

Kristen is my A1 and despite having drastically different schedules, we still make time for each other as much as we can. We are always trying to cook up fun plans for us and the kiddos and I live for our trips to the park, zoo, and story time at the library. My favorite hang out is when Kristen, Ramon, and the girls come over to my apartment for dinner. I love to host and cook and it brings me so much joy to make a big meal and then enjoy Johnny’s guitar playing or watching a movie or show all together. It isn’t a day at the zoo, but it sure is the absolute best. ❤

My sister is one of the kindest, empathetic, funniest people I have ever met. She is a fierce warrior for animals and is such a great pet parent to her two rescue dogs and two rescue cats too. Whenever she can, Kristen still manages to find time to volunteer at shelters and lends her voice to the animals that have none. I thought I was good at making schedules, but I truly pale in comparison to her. Between family life, work, and volunteering, I genuinely have no idea how she does it all and with a smile on her face to boot!

Throughout my childhood, Kristen has been my role model and she still is every single day as adults. I just love her to pieces and can’t wait to celebrate her special day together! ❤

Happy birthday, Kristen!!!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

Aspects Of Your Lifestyle That Impact Your Oral Health

Aspects Of Your Lifestyle That Impact Your Oral Health

The three starting points for having great oral hygiene are to make sure that you brush, floss, and use mouthwash at home. However, you need to make sure that you are looking at different aspects of your lifestyle – could they be undoing all of your hard work? Here are a few things that could be having an impact on your teeth:

Stress:

The modern world can be very stressful and demanding, but if you don’t manage to get your stress levels under control then you might be waking up with headaches and jaw aches. Often these two things are a sign that you are clenching your teeth at night. So what can you do about it? First, you need to look at what you can do to reduce your stress levels. If you know that you are clenching your teeth and are unable to make sure that you are reducing your stress levels – then you need to speak to your dentist about the situation. They may be able to fit you with a mouth guard to stop the damage to your teeth.

Diet:

Do you have an ultra-sweet tooth? While some sugar isn’t too bad, if you are finding that you are snacking on sweets, candies, cakes, and other sweet treats often – you might not be brushing your teeth enough! For those who have a lot of sugar in their diet, it is beneficial for them to brush more times a day to reduce the chances of tooth decay and plaque. Sugar attacks your teeth, so being vigilant about your tooth care is a must. If possible, reduce the amount of sugar that you are eating in a day. Not only will it help your teeth but you’ll feel better in general.

There are some foods that can support good oral health too:

Cheese, milk, and other dairies

Black and green tea

Chewing gums (sugar free)

Foods with fluoride (poultry, seafood, and some cereals)

Fiber-rich vegetables and fruit

And one of the most important things is to make sure that you are drinking a lot of water too. Water helps dislodge any food particles between brushing, and that prevents plaque.

Dental appointments:

Are you regularly visiting your dentist? Many people skip going because they think they don’t need to go. But your dentist will be able to spot issues that are just starting and help you tackle them too. If you have skipped more than a few appointments and you can’t face your old dentist – register somewhere new. And, for those who have dental angst – speak to them in advance so that they know you need extra support.

Dental appointments don’t just take care of dental health with things like fillings, removal, and gum care. You might want to make some adjustments like braces, a whitening, or porcelain crowns. If your last appointment was more than six months ago, then it is time to give them a call and get checked out.

Medication:

There are some medications that can cause you to have a dry mouth – and when you have a dry mouth, you are more likely to suffer from tooth decay. There are a couple of things you can do. You can speak to your doctor to see if there are any other medications that will treat you, but that won’t dry your mouth as a side effect. Or, you can speak to your dentist and see what measures you can take to help manage the risk of tooth decay.

Rest and Sleep:

You might think that almost all of the other body processes need rest and sleep – but not teeth. And in some respects, that is right. Lack of sleep impacts your immune system, and it is the immune system that helps to prevent gum disease. So while your teeth might not seem like they will suffer if you don’t sleep enough – the truth is that it is a risk to do anything that lowers your immune system.
