Hello! When I go on outings with my clients, we tend to visit a lot of discount shops. It is a great way to work on budgeting money and it’s just fun too! One place that we usually end up at is Ollie’s and, honestly, I’ve never been too impressed with it. Until recently that is! I can’t say that their overall selection in the store is great but their book department has been knocking it out of the park during my past two visits. Last last time, I found three volumes of one of my favorite graphic novel series called Preacher and last week I scored this amazing box set for a song:
I am an avid fan of graphic novels and have been reading them a lot as of late. Sometimes, I just don’t have the mental capacity to read a full on book, but I still would like to read something. Graphic novels are the perfect compromise because I get to read AND enjoy incredible artwork. I didn’t have any intention of making a purchase from Ollie’s last week because I am currently working through the Preacher omnibus. Then, I ate my words when I saw their graphic novel selection featuring the collected works of Joe Hill.
I have never read any of Mr. Hill’s work before, but I am familiar with him and was intrigued by the horror vibes. I began to weigh my options between buying the few individual books from the set they had available or just going balls to the wall and buying the box set. From a brief look online, a majority of the offerings in the set sounded pretty good. The price at Ollie’s compared to Amazon was even better, though! The original price of this box set is one hundred smackers in comparison to the twenty-five dollar price tag at the store. You simply can’t beat that so into the cart it went. Did I need it? No. Would I have regretted not buying it? Absolutely! I still have a ways to go in Preacher but I know for sure what I’ll be reading next. 😀
Sometimes discount stores hit and this was a prime example. My graphic novel collection has expanded a ton this year and Ollie’s helped make that happen. Now, I always have something to read even when I don’t feel like “reading”!
What is your favorite discount store? Have you scored any good deals recently? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
