Thanksgiving Fun

Helloooo everyone and happy Saturday! I hope all of you had a fantastic Thanksgiving and Black Friday if you participated in the madness! I had a great holiday in my neck of the woods. I got to spend it with my crazy family and handsome boyfriend and it was a blast!

I woke up bright and early to help my mom cook our Thanksgiving meal. I hate to brag but I made a pretty mean stuffing and green bean casserole! The morning went by quick and then by the time I knew it my sister, Kristen, was ready to get picked up to join in on the festivities. As you can see by this picture, I was having a ton of fun:

Kristen and I spent the afternoon finishing some cooking, snuggling, having girl talk, and watching season four of American Horror Story. I had the best time being able to spend the afternoon with her back at the home front because she moved into her own apartment recently and I miss her like crazy! Thankfully, we took enough sister pictures with each other to last a life time so I’ll have a lot of pics to look through and smile/laugh at.

My boyfriend, Kyle, spent the afternoon with his family and joined us for dinner at five. By four thirty the countdown began and we were all checking out the window and staring at the food we were about to devour for a solid half hour or so. Finally, my sweet Kyle came rolling in but rolling was more like hobbling because he sprained his ankle really badly last week and is on crutches. So once Kyle was safely inside my house and seated it. was. ON!

Our Thanksgiving feast at casa de la Mushenheim was delicious! There was stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, rolls, and green beans for days. There was also turkey for the non-vegetarians in the household, AKA Kyle, my dad, and my brother. I annihilated two extremely large plate fulls of side dishes and was about ready to burst at my seams afterwards…So worth it.

After dinner, we lazed around the house and enjoyed some coffee and pie for those who could handle eating another bite. We then decided on going to see Mockingjay Pt. 2 in theaters which was a lot of fun. Or as much fun as it can possibly be, considering I’ve never read the books or seen any of the movies. But Kyle, my mom, and Kristen are big fans of The Hunger Games series so it was nice to see all of them have a cute little holiday outing even if that meant just sitting along for the ride. The movie theater was pretty empty too so we got awesome seats and were able to put our feet up and comment on the film without annoying the other moviegoers too much!

Once we returned home from our movie excursion, Kyle and I headed back to his place and went right to bed. I ended up sleeping in until noon yesterday which seriously never happens anymore – it was great! I had such a nice time on Thanksgiving and I was so happy that my boyfriend was able to be there to join us. ❤

So there you have it, all of my Thanksgiving Fun from this past Thursday! How was everyone’s holiday? Who scored some amazing Black Friday deals? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

One Of Those Days

One Of Those Days

Helloooo everyone and happy Thursday! I, for one, am so glad for a fresh start today, because my Wednesday was stressful as all get out!! Enjoy this terrific song by The Raconteurs to sum up my feelings about yesterday and then let’s discuss:

SO, on Tuesday night, I discovered that the battery to the Little Red Love Machine was completely shot. Thankfully, my dad was able to call AAA to give my baby a jump and got her to the nearest repair shop in time to fix her up. However, this meant that I had literally no gas in my tank to make my drive to Cleveland for school possible. My dear old dad notified me that a gas station that was close to the highway had a decent price, so I decided to go there to fill up. My breath was held the entire time because I was literally running on fumes. I had the LRLM ready to turn left into the station and breathed a big ol’ sigh of relief that I had made it. But, unfortunately, I should have held my breath just a little bit longer.

Halfway through turning into the station, I saw that there was a sign prohibiting left hand turns. “Well shit,” I thought, “good thing there’s no cops around!” But lo and behold, a minute later, a cop pulled in behind the LRLM to tell me what I already knew…That I suck at driving and made an illegal left hand turn. LUCKILY, this cop was AWESOME! The first thing out of my mouth when he approached me was that I knew what I did wrong as soon as I made the turn. I then explained to him my situation of almost being completely out of gas and how I needed to be in Cleveland for school very shortly. I also made sure to call him “sir” a lot! The kind officer checked my license and record and told me that because it was almost flawless (only one speeding ticket, baby!), that he would let me off with a warning and that he hopes I make it to class on time. I was so incredibly thankful to him for being so understanding…But I didn’t make it to school on time. -___-

My French class at Tri-C began at one today and I made it to campus at about 12:45. I hurried into the building that I assumed the class was in and figured that I had enough time to refund a book at the campus bookstore before class started. WRONG! With the influx of students making their purchases and returns, things took longer than anticipated – but I was just too damn far in the process to leave and come back!! By the time I got my refund, I realized that I was in the complete wrong building, a whopping two minutes before class started. Lord have mercy on me…

I power walked my sweet tookus to the right building in the heat, in my all black ensemble, and with a handful of supplies and a full cup of coffee to juggle. I had never been in the building that my French class was in before and I felt like I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone. EVERY HALLWAY LOOKED THE SAME! At this point, I was shweatzing my ass off, my coffee had spilled at least three different times, and my frustration levels were through the roof – the roof, I tell you! I finally made it to class fifteen minutes late looking a hot and sweaty mess. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!!!

As I mentioned in previous posts this week, I have completely lost my voice and it refuses to come back. Because of this unfortunate medical malfunction I sounded like a boy who is trapped in the evil clutches of the puberty monster. I was hoarse, squeaky, sweaty, miserable, coughy, shameful, and annoyed – those are the names of the seven dwarfs, right? Anyways, the entire class I felt like a total goon and my throat hurt like the dickens. Can my voice come back now, or? #PLEASE

So obviously, my Wednesday can only be described as One Of Those Days! Lol, it’s whatever! Has anyone had a rough day similar to mine? How is everyone’s week going so far? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Break Time!

Break Time!

Heyyy everyone and happy Tuesday! It’s been a solid morning of homeworking and coffee drinking, so I figured now would be a perfect time to take a study break and touch base with all of you before I continue on with my day. I’m really REALLY fucking tired today. Did I tell you guys that I’m completely out of both my sleeping pills and my antidepressant? If not…I’m completely out of my sleeping pills and antidepressant. -__- So I haven’t been sleeping much these past few days and now that I’m not on any of the pills that I’ve been taking daily for the past few years I’ve been feeling some awful withdrawal symptoms. Now on top of being exhausted from not having a decent night of sleep since last week, I feel like I have the flu but really it’s just medication withdrawal. I feel dehydrated, weak, and really disoriented…It’s not a good feeling. I’ve been up and running since nine o’clock this morning, but I already feel like I’m ready for bed and it’s barely after noon. #FML On the bright side, I treated myself to some Starbucks this morning after getting my brother to work compliments of the gift card that my nail tech got me for my birthday. If you haven’t tried the cold brewed coffee from Sbux then you need to get on it pronto. It’s a little bit more expensive than the classic iced coffee BUT it’s a million times better so it’s so worth it! When you get iced coffee from Starbucks it can be a very hit or miss experience. Sometimes your drink is awesome and other times it tastes like you’re drinking coffee that’s been sitting in a toilet for a week straight. Lucky for me, I haven’t had a disappointing drink experience ever since Starbucks introduced the cold brewed coffee and it was a nice pick me up to start off my day with coffee that I didn’t have to make. #TREATYOSELF

My Social Psychology course started yesterday and I can’t complain too much about it. Like a lot of my other classes it’s just a lot of text book reading which can get kind of boring, but that’s okay! It gets the job done and I’m still learning a lot! After this little check in I have quite a bit more to do and then I’m going to meet up with my darling Lea for a quick mid afternoon hang out. Seeing her will probably result in us getting coffee because I feel like a straight up zombie. It’s so frustrating because sleep is something that comes so easily to most people but unfortunately it’s a struggle and a half for me. Last night for example, I was totally exhausted but I couldn’t catch a solid few hours of sleep to save my life. It seemed like as soon as I dozed off I would wake up and then it would take an eternity to get myself back to sleep again. This vicious cycle has been occurring every night since last Wednesday and it’s complete hell. Whatever. -___-

Alrightie, I need to get back to work but I will talk to you all soon! Does anyone have any tried and true methods that help you fall asleep? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -A very sleepy Sarah

Thanks For The Coffee, Dad!

Thanks For The Coffee, Dad!

Hellooooo everyone and TGIF! How’s everyone’s day going? So far so good? Fabulous. So ever since I started school at Tri-C in mid October, my dad has done something every school morning that I’m insanely thankful for….Every single morning that I have to drive to Cleveland, my dad makes me my coffee for my to go cup like clockwork. (And of course my to go cup is red!!) I can’t think of one single day that he hasn’t made my caffeine for me and it seriously warms my heart to the extreme. The fact that he takes time out of his equally busy morning to make my go go juice makes me so happy. Every single time that my dad tells me that my coffee is ready I get the biggest, goofiest smile on my face. In fact, I’m wearing one right now just thinking about it. It may seem like a little thing to some, but I think that’s why I appreciate it so much – because it’s such a little thing that makes a huge difference. I’m such a daddy’s girl too, so getting that extra TLC from my favorite guy is always such a great way to start out my day. When I have my morning classes, it’s always a struggle to get myself out the door – rushing to the shower to make sure I get hot water, fighting with my sister over bathroom space while she gets ready for work, scrambling all of my books together, ect, ect, ect…So having one less thing to do before I face morning time traffic during my commute to Cleveland is like taking some excess weight off of my shoulders. By the time I get in the Little Red Love Machine it’s such a treat to be able to throw back my dad’s specially made for me coffee and relax. So this is me sending an extra special shout out to my daddy dearest. I love you so much and I thank you so much for always keeping your daughter caffeinated! Thank you for making my mornings a little bit easier and a lot a bit better! ❤

^^^ MARRY ME JACK WHITE!!! I swear there’s a White Stripes song for every occasion. And the very masculine Kate basically inhaling her coffee in the John & Kate Plus 8 spoof basically sums up my life.

Have a terrific rest of your day and I will talk to you all later!!! How many cups of coffee does it take you to get started in the morning? How do you drink your coffee? I for one only drink my coffee black LIKE A CHAMP!!! I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Lil Red: A Secret Five Year Old

Lil Red: A Secret Five Year Old

A little known fact about Lil Red is that there’s a secret five year old trapped inside of me that comes out when I’m tired or hungry. Today I had the misfortune of being rudely awakened at eight in the morning by a text from the last person I wanted to hear from, on my spring break none of the less! I was so genuinely angry by this that I just couldn’t fall back asleep, so I’ve been awake and miserable since eight o’clock today. Let me bring you up to speed, I have a really difficult time falling asleep, even with the help of the sleeping medicine I’m on, so if I don’t get an above average amount of sleep every night I turn into an awful human being. You know how when little kids get over tired and they turn into total grouchy nightmares? That’s exactly how I am. 1) I’m exhausted. 2) When I don’t sleep enough, my pills will carry into the day, turning me into a zombie. So today I’ve been running on pure coffee and cigarettes, and all it’s done is make me nauseous and a hot wreck. My fuel of champions has totally curbed my appetite, so by the time I got around to shoe shopping with the lovely Miss Kate this afternoon, I was completely shutting down. I couldn’t even enjoy shoe shopping…and you guys know how much I love shoe shopping. It genuinely made my heart hurt. When I start feeling the evil combo of being tired and hungry, it’s the most indescribable feeling of terrible. It’s like the feeling of an oncoming flu that can only be cured by sleeping for twelve hours straight and eating until your body can’t take it anymore. Luckily I got a little fuel in me of the best kind because Kate and I got froyo after shopping, which was just what I needed. I got vanilla froyo with a lot of fruit on it and it was like the nectar of the gods. It was so sweet and refreshing and enough to make me feel like I wasn’t going to pass out at any second. It’s pathetic guys, like I got home from my lovely afternoon outing with the intention to take a nice hot bath, but by the time I got undressed I was so drained that the last thing I needed was a soak in scalding water. All that would probably do is make me dizzy anyways. And do you wanna know the real cherry on top of this no good very bad day? MY BELLYBUTTON IS INFECTED! So gross, I know, but it’s a story that must be told. SO, I rarely change my bellybutton jewelry because no one every really sees it but me, but with spring on the horizon I thought it would be fun to invest in some new jewelry since crop top season is among us. I don’t really care for very fancy jewelry, so I just snagged a few from Hot Topic. I’ve only ever worn silver jewelry, but I opted for a very cute gold one (and I know it’s not real silver or gold haha) and was super excited to put it in. Unfortunately after about a day of wearing it, my skin got insanely irritated – and it wasn’t just the skin around my piercing that I’ve had for over five years it was my ENTIRE bellybutton. It was inflamed, sore, and it burned like THE DICKENS!! Thankfully I’m on some antibiotics now that have helped immensely even in the day and a half of being on them. Moral of the story: I’m a hot ass wreck. Second moral of the story: Never EVER buy gold colored bellybutton jewelry EVER. Le sigh. I need sleep, Taco Bell, and more sleep stat. Tonight is a Netflix and eating hella food in bed night if I’ve ever seen one! So while I’m wallowing in self pity, please enjoy these fabulous tunes that I’ve been jamming to all day:

^^^ Ugh. I adore quirky-cute Courtney Barnett too much. Such a fun artist!

Alright crew, I hope your day was better than mine! I need some Netflix suggestions, so if you’ve been watching anything good leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -A very sleepy Sarah 😦
