Fall Finesse OOTD

Fall Finesse OOTD

Hi everyone and happy Sunday! Today, we are going to discuss a fall OOTD post to help set the mood for the upcoming spooktacular month of October. My friend, Carlie, who I’m sure you remember from guest posts on my page has also created an autumn outfit so do be sure to head over to Bombshell and check hers out, too! The pictures below were taken by my boyfriend, which is always so much fun, so take a look and let’s get to it:

Who? What? Wear?

During the fall, there’s nothing better than an All Black Everything OOTD to set some witchy vibes for the day. Once you create your base with a pair of black skinnies or joggers and a black sweater, tee, or jacket, it’s all about the accessories. Because of a mundane palette, you can choose pieces that really pop to decorate your look with. You can always add a pop of color accessory to break up the monotoned look, or you can stick with equally bleak but chic pieces, which is what I did.

To start accessorizing, I began with the main focal point in my look, which is the Printed Village scarf. This lovely little number shows the various stages of the moon in waxing and waning in striking silver, and it instantly added dimension to my OOTD. The best part about this scarf, is that it’s really long and wide so it can be worn in a variety of ways. For this particular look, I wore it as a shawl. But, I have worn it before as a skirt, Parisian style, and as a plain old scarf so it definitely offers a lot of variety!

And, of course, the glistening silver moons wouldn’t be complete without some gold thrown into the mix. I chose to combine the cool metallic colors by wearing my Baroque patterned Bamboo healed booties, which just so happens to be one of my favorites! Some might think that wearing silver and gold together is a no no. And, they are absolutely right if they’re paired with a multitude of other colors. But, when worn with just one other color, the end result is amazing. The shimmering shades danced so beautifully together in the light and, instead of the “don’t look at me” vibe that all black can give off, all eyes will definitely be on you.

To finish styling my outfit, it was time to add some jewelry. To keep with the spooky chic motif, I added in some Halloween appropriate rings like the spread winged owl and the turquoise cross that attached to a bracelet with a skull on it. Then, I went for some of my favorite jewelry in my arsenal for around my neck – my rosaries. I have three in my collection and I love them all equally. They vary in color and length and, when worn together, the effect is effortlessly cool and will complete any look perfectly.

What I like about this Fall Finesse OOTD is that it started out really simple and, then, it was taken to a whole new level by pairing it with the right accessories. Creating visual break up with the jewelry, shoes, scarves, and whatever else you see fit takes a look from zero to one hundred real quick and, the beauty of accessories, is that you can use them as sparingly or as boldly as you like. My look can be easily replicated, but never completely the same, thanks to unique accessories adding their own special flavor to each OOTD!

How would you accessorize an all black everything outfit? How do you express yourself through accessories? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sugar & Spice OOTD

Sugar & Spice OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a new OOTD post here on lifewithlilred! Today, we are going to talk about how to style a Sugar & Spice look that combines all things edgy with a little bit of sweetness to it. This post is also very special, because my boyfriend took all of these pictures! I have so much fun creating camera ready looks and taking pictures with my MAN, and it makes for an amazing date – no credit cards or cash required! Take a look:

Who? What? Wear?

Whenever I am styling an outfit, I normally always go the edgy route with it. It’s rare that you will see me in something purely girly, like a dress without a moto jacket over top of it! But, combining Sugar & Spice gives you a look with dimension and a lot of visual break up to make one’s eyes dance when they look at you. It also keeps an outfit looking like me, which is of utmost importance.

To start with this look, I went with one of my favorite tops from Kohl’s. This Rock & Republic number has literally been sitting, untouched in my closet for years and I have finally realized its glory after all of this time. I love the crosses, jewels, and safety pins adorning it and the touch of glitter on the sleeves and around the bottom adds some unexpected sweetness. With a top that’s relatively busy, you don’t need anything for your bottoms except a pair of solid colored shorts or jeans. So, I went with my Hollister short shorts from TJ’s to continue with the black motif on top.

Now, for some sugar. To add some visual interest to this OOTD, I paired a gorgeous pair of Bonetti Giordano knee highs with one of my favorite pairs of heels. Because everything in my outfit is neutral, the bright floral colors on the knee highs didn’t look costumey and flowed really well with the ensemble. I loved how the heather grey socks looked against the cream Juicy Couture heels, and it all counterbalanced the black top and shorts for a striking but cohesive overall look.

And, finally, we need accessories to complete the OOTD. I chose to use one of my favorite purses from Charming Charlie’s as the statement accessory and then kept everything else pretty simple. With a loud British flag with studs outlining it, you don’t need much more! So, I opted for a big pair of Loft sunnies attached to a belt loop and my long gold chain earrings along with a pair with black crosses at the end of each chain. Any more accessories than that would have felt like too much for this look, especially with the bleak color palette. When in doubt, always go for the less is more option!

I really enjoyed styling and wearing this outfit. It made me feel so confident, and you can’t ask for more than that when creating a killer OOTD!

How would you style a Sugar & Spice look? What are some of your go to accessories? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Shopaholic Styles: All Autumn Everything OOTD

Hello one and all and Happy Monday! In all of the blogging world, there is one special gal who always comes to mind first. And, that is Nida from Shopaholic Blogs. Nida was the very first guest blogger that I ever had on lifewithlilred and she has become a staple on my page every time I host a guest bloggers series. She is funny, fashion forward, and downright fabulous! Not only that, but it’s impossible not to smile while reading her posts and watching her videos.

Nida creates a mean OOTD post and her take on a fall themed look can be seen below:

Shopaholic Styles: All Autumn Everything OOTD

Hola companeros blogueros ❣️

Welcome to a fabulous fall inspiredΒ πŸ‚ post courtesy of my long time blogging BFF Sarah of lifewithlilred πŸ’ž. I love collaborating with Sarah on guest posts, because she gives me so much creative freedom and she is always so appreciative of my work that it pushes me to do better every time.✨ So, for this fall themed post, I decided to put together an autumn OOTD (Which, by sheer coincidence, happens to be my favorite kind of postπŸ’“).

Technically speaking, there really is no fall season here in Dubai since summer β˜€οΈ lasts all the way to November and then we jump straight into a very mild winter. However, just because we don’t get to experience actual fall 🍁 doesn’t mean that we can’t dress up for it!Β πŸ˜‰

My take on fall included a bright, flowy top in a gorgeous yellow color, which I think is reminiscent of the splendor of autumn. I paired it with statement crop pants in a deep forest green πŸƒ and beautiful foliage in all shades of green, yellow, and orange.

Both pieces are from the Loft petites collection, which is my go to store for trendy, affordable clothing. ✨ I finished the look with these charming (Though extremely uncomfortable 😳) sandals by Jessica Simpson.

I hope that you guys enjoyed this fall inspired OOTD! 🍁 Sarah and I look forward to your comments. 😘

Thanks to Sarah for this fun opportunity and until next time loves xoxo❣️

Giving Any Look The Wow Factor

Giving Any Look The Wow Factor

An important event looms near. It could be a first date, a job interview, or a presentation at school. You’re mentally prepared and feeling confident, but you know that the right look will give you that extra boost you need to turn the tables of success in your favor. But how to get the look right eludes you. You’ve got a pretty good idea of what you want to wear and maybe how you’d like to arrange your hair, but for some reason your look doesn’t pop. It needs a little something extra. Something that will turn heads and get you noticed. Something that will give your look that elusive wow factor.

Let’s take a look at some of the ways that you can do this. Don’t worry, none of them are bank breakers!

It’s all about the eyes:

The eyes are the windows into the soul and whether you’re on a date or in a job interview they play a huge part in how you are perceived. Drawing attention to your eyes and making them look bigger and sparklier communicates openness, honesty, and approachability. But the eyes also command attention and, if you want them to, they can steal a heart. Be sure to shape your brows well to create a flattering frame for the eyes, and never underestimate the power of a good mascara. Also remember to use the color of your eyeliner to your advantage and you’ll have eyes that pop in an instant.

What’s a girl’s best friend, now?

Diamonds are not just gorgeous, but they’re extremely versatile. They can dazzle, mystify, and imbue you with an air of class and sophistication. When they catch the light they can draw the eye wherever you want it to but, perhaps the most beneficial thing that a diamond brings, is the sense of prestige. Check out http://yourdiamondguru.com/reviews/james-allen/ for information about how different colored diamonds can be used in different settings to add an extra wow factor. Diamonds can either create an aura of success or an air of allure. It’s all about how you use them.

The shoes!!!

There’s a reason why one can never have too many shoes. The right pair can make you command attention as soon as you walk into a room. They can change your height, the way you walk, and the way you stand. They can make you seem formidable and imposing or sultry and seductive. Just make sure that you wear shoes that you feel comfortable in. Wincing with every step won’t wow your prospective new boss or your potential new beau!

Belt up!

The humble belt may spend a lot of time unused in your closet, but it’s the perfect way to tie any look together. Plus, it can help to lend you a more flattering shape and prevent a layered look from swallowing you whole. Find a belt that gives your outfit a pop of color and see how it transforms any look.

Now, you’re ready to dazzle with the extra wow factor in all of your looks!

Let Me Take A Selfie

Let Me Take A Selfie

HELLOOOO! In the name of fashion and having more updated pics of me on the ol’ blog and social media, I have been taking a lot of selfies lately. Believe me, I’m even starting to annoy myself, but sometimes the pay off is worth it because I really like the pictures seen below:

sarah2sarah1sarah3

As you can tell, I was really FEELING MYSELF in these selfies. I am obsessed with my True Destiny Flower Power Top from TJMaxx and, of course, it wouldn’t be a Sarah Selfie without NYX’s Pure Red Matte Lippie being featured! I was actually in the midst of feeling really emotionally shitty the day that I took these pictures. But, sometimes all it takes is getting dolled up, snapping some pics, and getting compliments from strangers on social media to brighten up the day! πŸ˜€

Although taking selfies can be a hit or miss activity for me, when it works it works, and I feel like everything was working in the above pictures. My makeup, my eye color, and my favorite top all combined with the ideal natural lighting outdoors made for a perfect photo op, and I am so glad that I took it. And, trust and believe that I ate hella Mexican food immediately after I took these pictures. #success

What are some of your secrets to taking the perfect selfie? How many selfies do you take per week? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

OOTD Time

Hiii everyone! I have to admit, I have really been slacking on taking updated photos of myself for social media and blogging purposes. However, there have been a few days where I’ve really been feeling myself enough to take some standard mirror pics to feature some OOTDs that I love. Take a looksee:

ootdootd1

Look One:

  • Floral Top: Loft
  • Jeans: TJMaxx
  • Platforms: TJMaxx

Look Two:

Look One was a semi business casual outfit for work. Because I am out in the community and not in an office while working, I can get away with making the outfit more casual than business! I love my bright yellow top from Loft, which looks friggen awesome with my hair and skin. I also love how both the top and my Bamboo brand shoes are both channeling an Oriental vibe, which played off of each other in a really cool way. I was a bit ambivalent about pairing yellow and red together, because all I can think about is ketchup and mustard – but I was very happy with this OOTD and after seeing how I looked, I stopped thinking about the Micky D’s color combo instantly! πŸ˜€

On the other hand, Look Two was strictly an outfit for play and it has turned into one of my favorites. I love how the slouchy Harem pants look with the more fitted moto jacket and how my shoes ended up getting tucked under my pants. It created a really interesting silhouette and, even though I was super comfy in this OOTD, I felt totally cool. I rarely dress for comfort, because sometimes it sacrifices the style aspect of a look, but that wasn’t the case at all for this one and I definitely plan on rocking similar outfits in the future.

I live for creating cool outfits, and now I just need to be more dedicated about taking pictures of them! How do you style a business casual OOTD? How about a look for play? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Spring Style Q & A

Standard
Spring Style Q & A

Hey everyone and TGIF! Spring is a wonderful time for all fashion everything, because the winter layers finally get to be shed and an entire new aspect of ones wardrobe gets to be explored. In some ways, styling for spring and summer can be more difficult than fall and winter, because layering is definitely not a thing when the sun is in full blast. That means that you only have one opportunity to create a flattering look without the option of just throwing a jacket on or accessorizing it with a scarf and hat.

I, myself, find that I am floundering with creating warm weather looks, because it sure has been a long time. But, regardless of the above, and the fact that you have to shave more frequently – spring style can be fun! So, I came up with this Q & A to remind myself just why that is:

Q & A:

What is your favorite pattern for spring? Obviously, everyone loves florals for spring. But, that’s so overdone! I find myself really liking polka dots and cherry patterns lately for a touch of flirty vintage fun. Finding a piece of clothing that I like in those patterns has proven to be pretty difficult, though.

What is your ideal spring outfit? I am a huge fan of the maxi dress, so I would have to say one of those paired with a huge pair of platform heels, a hobo bag, and big sunglasses.

What is your perfect spring shoe? I think that mules are perfect for spring, because they’re adorable and functional. But, since I rarely wear flat shoes, I am all about the platform heel during warm weather. They add a touch of funky fun to every outfit and they are super easy to walk in.

How do you accessorize in the spring? I feel like big bags in hobo or tote style are a must for the spring so that you can carry all of your essentials in a cute vessel. Statement jewelry like bangle bracelets, bold necklaces, and dangly earrings always go over well. And, if it’s a bit blustery out, a fashion scarf worn Parisian style looks so chic!

How do you create a pretty spring MOTD? I definitely like a more natural look for spring. Pink eyeshadows and soft blushes always add a sweet touch to any look. And a nude lip is perfect to finish it off. But, a bright colored lippie is always fun, too!

Where do you find the best spring clothes? I will always be a TJMaxx girl at heart, but Express has some gorgeous pieces in their spring collection that I have been eyeing! I wish that it wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg to get it, though. πŸ˜₯

How would you describe your spring style? I think that my spring style is way more girly than any other time of the year. But, I will always try to toughen it up a little bit with a moto jacket or oversized flannel if it’s chilly or add in some black among all of the soft colors and fabrics. So, I guess I’d call it a floral rocker type of look. πŸ˜€

Do feel free to copy and paste the above questions and answer them on your page to help get your fashion sense inspired for spring!

What is your favorite season to dress for? What about your least favorite? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

If The Shoe Fits: Bamboo Beauties Edition

Hello hello and happy day after Christmas! I hope that everyone had a beautiful day celebrating and enjoyed their time spent with family and loved ones. Stay tuned here on lifewithlilred for my holiday haul and December finishes! Today, we are going to talk about a pair of Bamboo platform booties that I have been lusting after for a while now. The color is red, the heel is high, and the pattern is to die for. Take a look and let’s discuss:

bamb1bamb4bamb3

As I mentioned above, I’ve been obsessed with these shoes for a lifetime, so an online TJMaxx haul meant that I finally got to bring these babies home to mama. These high to the heavens heels with a geisha girl inspired pattern gives me so much life. The divine embroidery, the shiny red fabric, and could be on a kimono style. Ugh, everything about these Bamboo shoes is perfect.

Styling these booties is going to be a lot of fun because you could go simple with them or get totally wild. For a simple look, I would pair these shoes with an all black everything ensemble, which would include black skinnies, an oversized boyfriend blazer, and a black sweater underneath for a coffee house chic look. Then, for something more fun, I would pair my booties with one of my favorite Loft tops featuring paper fans and my mustard yellow A-line skirt for a funky but fabulous work or play OOTD. The possibilities are completely endless!

So there you have it, the latest issue of If The Shoe Fits: Bamboo Beauties Edition! How would you style these fun platforms? What is your favorite pattern to wear? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Unsung Wardrobe Heroes

Unsung Wardrobe Heroes

Helloooo everyone and welcome to a new segment here on lifewithlilred. Unsung Wardrobe Heroes is all about celebrating the staples that make up your closet that might not get enough credit. I know between my shoe hoard, love for bold jackets, and loud statement pieces, that my day to day clothing items (Especially for work!) seem to go unnoticed. Today, we’re going to talk about one of my literal favorite work shirts that also doubles as an amazing top for play. Take a look and let’s discuss:

shirtloftloft2loft1

I really, really freaking like this shirt from Loft. I remember seeing it close to a year ago and thinking that I had to have it – and getting it for about fifteen dollars definitely didn’t hurt the cause, either! White is a color that I’m timidly trying to add more and more of into my wardrobe, and this was the shirt that started that movement. I love how the stark white pops against my skin and hair. Then, the bold, black paper fan pattern adds the touch of edge and fun that I have to have in everything that I buy.

This shirt is ideal as a top for work, and I love that it is so much more than a basic white button down thanks to the contrasting colors in such a charming pattern. But, as you can see from the first picture, this top is perfect for play, as well! This past summer, I preferred to wear this top tucked into shorts, along with a Panama hat and platform heels for a sassy ensemble to wear to my favorite outdoor shopping centers.

The best thing about this Loft top, though? It’s how easy it is to take this shirt from work to play in a few simple steps. I never change into a different outfit after work, but if I am going out afterwards, this top can turn into a nighttime look with a quick change of shoes, jacket, and accessories – talk about an Unsung Wardrobe Hero!

So there you have it, the newest lifewithlilred segment, Unsung Wardrobe Heroes! What are some favorites in your closet that doesn’t get enough credit? How would you style my Loft top? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
