Bath & Body Works Wallflower Haul

Bath & Body Works Wallflower Haul

Hi!! I had a fantastic haul from Bath & Body Works compliments of their Semi Annual Sale. For forty dollars, I got twenty products and it just doesn’t get better than that. Especially when you consider that the price of one full size product tends to be between fourteen and sixteen dollars. Score! The last of the haul we will discuss today is my new selection of Wallflowers. I have a love/hate relationship with them. I love how they look and the idea of them. However, I don’t think they work the best but I am too deep into the game to stop buying them lol. Let’s take a look and see what these scents are all about:

Would I Use Again?

Sheer Peach: YES

Country Apple: YES

Aloha Kiwi Passionfruit: MAYBE

Fiji White Sands: YES

Gingham Unstoppable: YES

Spring Clothesline: NO

Why/Why Not?

Peach/Apple: Two of my most beloved scents are peach and apple. I am a fruity fragrance kind of gal and there is a ninety-nine percent chance that I will like anything with these two fruits in the name. If you love really pure fruit fragrances, the Sheer Peach and Country Apple are great ways to go. They are straight up, no chaser peach and apple with nothing else added in. These wallflowers are bright and refreshing and I would happily buy each again.

Aloha Kiwi Passionfruit: I have used this scent of wallflower a few times because my Johnny loves a tropical fragrance. It has notes of “Tropical passionfruit, radiant kiwi, and juicy pineapple”. The pineapple was what I could pick up on the most and although it’s nice, it is a bit too subtle for my liking. I’m glad that I got another wallflower of this fragrance on the cheap, but I don’t think I would get it again immediately for the sake of trying something new next time.

Fiji White Sands: Now, this scent is one I liked a lot! Fiji White Sands is crisp, clean, and smells like a day at the beach. The fragrance notes feature “Fresh cut sugarcane, white nectarine, and sandalwood”. I could smell the nectarine perfectly and loved that it added some fruitiness to such a fresh fragrance. I took a roll of the dice when I added this wallflower to my shopping cart because it’s something I wouldn’t normally go for. The risk paid off because this is actually my favorite one from the wallflower haul!

Gingham Unstoppable: A resounding YES for Gingham Unstoppable and you can read my review here. 🙂

Spring Clothesline: There was bound to be a dud or two in this haul and that just so happened to be Spring Clothesline. I assumed I was going to get a scent like freshly laundered clothes. What I got was really pungent and I felt like I was huffing laundry detergent when I did the smell test lol. The notes of Spring Clothesline offers “Lemon water, sun dried blossoms, and golden amber”. I can’t speak for any of that because I couldn’t smell any of it lol. All I got was a nose full of Tide!

I am really happy with my Wallflower Haul and am actually impressed with the success rate of it. You just never know what you’re going to get when you shop fragrances online!

Do you use any type of scent plugin at chez vous? What is your favorite one? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Candle Corner

Candle Corner

Hello!! I have had a banner birthday month and have been enjoying all of the spoils from my big day. In fact, this past weekend I went on an online shopathon with the gift cards that I received and that was a blast. There is nothing better than some guilt free hauls… But, then again, when have I ever suffered from buyer’s remorse after any purchases?! Lol, the answer is never! Another thing I did this weekend was set up my Candle Corner with gifts from my two besties. While I love candles, I never buy them for myself so they are always the perfect gift. It was so nice to cozy up on the couch with Degrassi and these fabulously spooky flames:

image_50386177(2)image_50396161(8)

My darling Gemini Twin, Kate of Live In The Nautical, and my BFF since freshman year of high school, Lea, always know exactly what to get for yours truly. Among other amazingly thoughtful gifts, Lea got me my middle finger candle and Kate gifted me with the skull and You A Spooky Bitch candles from a Halloween gift set. Needless to say, I am obsessed! Candles are great, yes, but they are even better when they are themed around my happiest time of the year. And, of course, they match beautifully with mine and Johnny’s Halloween all year round home decor. 😀

Like I said, I never go out of my way to buy candles for myself. That extra cash goes right into my shoe fund lol. However, I think I can dip into that fund for a few candles after this past weekend because I am going to be sad when my gifts burn out! I had a super lazy weekend and it was so soothing to just be able to veg out with my flickering flames around me. It is a rarity for me to even have candles to burn and it felt like such a luxury. I liked it very much and it set the ideal atmosphere to snuggle up with my favorite teen drama and chill after a long work week. Restocking my candle corner soon appears to be a resounding absolute must!

A middle finger, a skull, and a spooky bitch candle – who could ask for anything more?! I loved being able to use my birthday prezzies this weekend and my candles took the cake!

Where is your favorite place to buy candles? What is your favorite scent for candles? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sell Your Home Quickly With These Tips

Sell Your Home Quickly With These Tips

Do you want to list your home on the market quickly? If so, then you have come to the right place. This guide will help you to make the right changes so you can get your home on the market as fast as possible and move onto bigger and better things:

Perform a Deep Clean:

One of the first things you need to do is perform a deep clean from top to bottom, on the inside and the out. You also need to keep in mind that cleaning costs nothing, but it is a major part of selling your home. If you have carpets and curtains that could do with a deep clean, then this is money that is well worth spending. Cleaning your home is quite possibly one of the biggest chores that you will face when the time comes for you to sell your, and a lot of people disregard it without much thought. If your home is cleaner than the rest of the homes on the market, then it will look better and make it easier to get the sale you need.

Declutter:

Get rid of all the clutter around your home and you will soon find that it looks bigger. It will feel to buyers like a tidy and organized place to live, which is exactly what they are looking for. If possible, you also need to take note that decluttering will save you moving expenses at a later date as you won’t have as many things to clear out. If you can keep things like this in mind, you will find that it becomes easier for you to get the motivation you need. It’s vital that you look at your home as being a commodity that you can sell and that you work with the emotional bond that you have with your home. Focus on the new life that you are going to be creating when you move, and don’t hold onto things that could make your home look messy or untidy.

Fix Anything that is Broken:

You also need to take the time to fix anything that might be broken. You need to finish any DIY jobs and you catch up on maintenance too. At the end of the day, a well-maintained home that is well-cared for will really stand out to buyers. Buyers will mentally reduce the maximum price that they are willing to go up to if there are a lot of things that need fixing. Unfinished or botched DIY jobs need to be done by a professional if possible because if you don’t get this done, then it will make things much more difficult for you in the future. If you intend on selling or transferring your home to a family member, then jobs like this may not be as important.

When you are making repairs, keep documents of everything so that potential buyers know that things are all in recent working order. Keep this, along with all of your other information for this process, well organized. And, when the time comes to sell, look into a Deeds.com Quitclaim Form so you can make sure that you have all of your paperwork in order.

A tidy, well maintained home is a buyer’s dream so do what you can to make this possible!

7 Ways To Make Your Home Look More Expensive

Every homeowner wants their property to look the best it can possibly be. When it comes to making a great first impression on your visitors, you may want to opt for trends that showcase your home in the best light and make it look super high end. Adding expensive-looking touches to your home that don’t break the bank could be one of the best design choices you make. Whether you’re planning an entire home renovation, or you want to make just a handful of tweaks, here are seven ways to make your home look opulent and expensive:

New Windows:

Getting new windows installed is sure to give your property an instant lift. Looking into window options will show you just how many styles there are to choose from. You may also want to look into residential and commercial window tinting if you’re not quite ready to upgrade your windows altogether. Window tinting can provide you with the look and privacy of etched glass without the additional expense. This is a great way to make your home look more expensive using a simple and affordable technique.

Don’t forget that your windows will need blinds and curtains to complete the look. Curtains are a great way to add color and texture into a room and can be swapped out seasonally or as often as you choose. Blinds will further enhance your newly installed or tinted windows and provide natural lighting. To get inspiration, simply enter a search for “Window Blinds Nottingham” (or your local area) to schedule a consultation with a professional team. You will be able to discuss the expensive look you are hoping to achieve to really make your house pop.

Fresh Flowers:

There is nothing quite like bright fresh flowers to bring a touch of glamor to your home. Don’t wait for somebody to buy you a bouquet of beautiful blooms, you can treat yourself to a new set every week, simply because you and your home deserve it. You can change up the color scheme depending on the season or your mood. Either way, your fresh flowers will be a stunning addition to your home, and it will make everything appear much more high end.

Luxurious Lighting:

The power of lighting should never be underestimated, especially when it comes to creating an expensive and beautiful looking home. The only way you can choose the right types of lighting for your home is by going to look around your local stores and seeing which ones appeal to you the most. Choosing the right lamp shades and lighting fixtures can completely transform the way your home looks in its entirety.

Minimal Clutter:

Getting rid of as much excess clutter as possible is a simple way to create a sense of lavishness in your home. If you want your home to appear more expensive, you need to throw away any unnecessary items that are cluttering up your beautiful space. This will give you more scope to decorate in unique ways and find more interesting places to highlight.

More Mirrors and Wall Art:

If you have ever walked through a grand home or estate before, you will notice that there are always pieces of artwork and mirrors on the walls. Adding more decor to your walls can help you to inject some of your personal style into your home, and it’s a great way to boost its overall appeal. With mirrors and wall art, there are so many different amazing styles for you to explore. Depending on the look and feel that you’re going for, you may find that certain types of frames or color schemes work better with your home interiors.

Wooden Flooring:

There are so many advantages that go hand in hand with getting wooden flooring installed in your home. First of all, wooden flooring is timeless and will never go out of style. Second, it’s very easy to make wooden flooring look expensive too. As long as you keep it clean and in good condition, wooden flooring will instantly give your home a sense of class.

Patterns and Textures:

Experimenting with a variety of patterns and textures when decorating your home is a brilliant way to add a layer of luxury. From rugs to curtains, you can use patterns and textures to enhance the interior decor of your home and make it a more lavish place to live.

Creating a fresh, stylish and expensive looking home is much easier than you think, especially when you have so many ideas to work with. All of these ideas will work with all sorts of different homes and will help you to feel proud of your property in every single way!

Should Your House Differ Dramatically In Style From Those On Your Street?

Should Your House Differ Dramatically In Style From Those On Your Street?

If you live in a suburb, private housing area, or conventional community, odds are you have neighbors and perhaps a street where many houses are visible. In the internet of community life and connecting to the environment around you, it’s not uncommon for homeowners to style their properties so that a good balance between unique style and wider conformity is achieved. After all, it’s nice to have that aesthetic line through across the street. That might also mean sharing similar driveway designs but with its own twist, such as stone pavers lining the driveway sides or patio area.

But what if you hope to differ dramatically from those on your street? It’s your house after all, and you shouldn’t have to ask permission to enjoy a little fun. In this post, we’ll discuss a few tips for achieving the best possible outcome:

Blending In vs. Standing Out:

It may seem tough to find that sweet spot between fitting in and showing your own personality, especially if the other houses around you are, quite frankly, a little dull. But a property that sticks out too much may seem out of place and even draw attention, which could go against security and safety. An understated approach could be angling for some personal touches that provide unique value, but don’t go overboard and clash severely with surrounding aesthetics. So you may wish to paint your house pink. But if the houses either side of you are softer, pastel colors, it might work better for a lighter pastel pink that fits in, but is clear in its identity. This is just one example, but shows where to start with your planning process. If you want to stand out, CBI Design professionals can help with a redesign.

No matter how you choose to address the exterior of your property, you can still have a ton of fun with the interior! You could fashion an unused room into a mini library. Perhaps you will have a professional flooring installer put in some funky black and white tiles in the kitchen. Or you could transform bathrooms into a luxury hotel experience. There will always be opportunities to showcase your personality so get creative and have a blast.

Considering Neighborhood Aesthetics:

Most communities adhere to some established aesthetic for cohesion among properties, because often, communities are built at relatively similar periods or at least “eras”. There may be unspoken (but still relevant) guidelines around home colors, lawn decor styles, or architectural designs, but you can always balance two differing opinions. Maybe you want a modernist house but are happy to curate the interior to match while offering more robust and rural exteriors to fit in among the landscape. If something happens and you need a roof repair or replacement, it can be a good idea to keep with the current traditional style of those around you to ensure you fit in.

Respecting Your Own Property:

Of course, you get to decide what you do with your own home. That being said, it can feel somewhat inspiring to allow the natural character of the home underneath to come out. If you’re looking for small wins, then you can restore certain elements of a home’s history, such as the vital function to the very unique river water wheel, unblocking the chimney, restoring the window arches, and using reclaimed wood to fashion a door that matches the period of the place. When it’s clear you’re paying utmost respect to the home, who could ever criticize you for updating parts of it to the modern age?

That being said, sometimes modern updates are necessary for comfort as well as style. If your air conditioning system isn’t keeping up with the summer heat, a quick search for “air conditioning repair near me” can help ensure your home stays cool while you focus on making it look its best.

With this advice, we hope you manage your project well, even if you implement changes for a different effect!

Double Sweet Surprises!

Double Sweet Surprises!

Howdy! One thing that Johnny and I love to do is surprise each other with little odds and ends when we are out and about. It could be anything from wall art and plushies to Halloween decor, and it is just as fun to give a surprise as much as it is to get one! This past Friday, I was delighted to find some adorable bunny trinkets at Target for our knick knack shelves and couldn’t wait to show Johnny as soon as I got home. Coincidentally, he had a treat for me too! Check it out:

image_50450433(8)image_50414081(8)image_50437377(5)

Thanks to a recent shopping trip to TJMaxx, I learned that this time of the year is prime for finding bunny themed decorations. You might be thinking “duh” because we’re entering spring and that means Easter. In my defense, lol, I don’t celebrate Easter and I also never shop around this time of the year. I prefer to hit up the post winter sales and wait till it gets completely warm out until I invest in new spring clothing. However, knowing what I know now, it makes me want to shop even more! As a proud bunny mom, I want all of the options that dog and cat parents have year round. The trick is that I have to cram it into a few months!

On Friday, I had a most excellent outing to Target with my brother to grab some new duds for his upcoming vacation. I genuinely had no intention of getting anything, but Target knows how to get you with the one to five dollar or so items right as you walk in. Immediately, small bunny statues in gold and white caught my eye and I just couldn’t help myself. Johnny and I are literally obsessed with the bunny decor I got from TJs and since he won’t let me get more bunnies, this was the next best thing. 😀

With my new bunny friends in tow, I made my way home after shopping to show the #1 Bunny Dad. My jaw hit the floor when he told me he had a surprise for me too! What are the odds?! For my treat, Johnny first presented me with a new kind of Warheads candy which we later determined to be disgusting. The real treat was a Gengar squishmallow that he picked up while running errands!! I have never had or even held a squishmallow before and, guys, the hype is real. It is SO soft and this gift couldn’t have come at a better time; I got sick the following day and cuddled with it as I rode out a cold from hell. It was even more comforting that it came from my Johnny. ❤

Johnny and I must have had some telepathy that told us we needed a little extra something this past Friday! It was a banner day for Double Sweet Surprises, indeed!

What is your favorite Pokemon? What is your favorite holiday to decorate for? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello!! As you all know, Johnny and I are bunny parents to the sweetest mother and son duo named Melvin and Penelope. They are our little pride and joys and life simply wouldn’t be the same without them scampering about the apartment and being cute. This past week, we took a look at some gorgeous new clothes from my TJMaxx haul. This is all well and good and I love everything I got. However, there were some home decor pieces that I couldn’t pass up and they just might be my favorite things of all! Check it out:

image_50419457(10)image_50456321(13)image_50412545(5)image_50416129(7)image_50436865(6)

^^^ LOL pardon my shedding husband in the last picture. SMH!!

Have you ever noticed how there is never a shortage of home decor for dog and cat owners in stores? No matter the time of the year, there will always and forever be “dog/cat mom” items to pick from. I have, honestly, never thought about this until this past shopping trip. When my mom and I made our way to the home decor department, I almost died and went to bunny heaven. There were bunny decorations everywhere and it took me a minute to realize this was in preparation of Easter lol. Now, I know that this is truly the bunny owner’s time to shine!

If I had all of the money in the world, I would have bought every single bunny item in the store. They were all just SO cute! The first thing that caught my eye was the topiary bunny on a pedestal and it immediately went into the cart. This was a great substitute because they had a huge topiary bunny that I wanted desperately, but lacked the space for. Next, my mom showed me the beautiful flower print bunny figurine and that also had to come home with me. They had this little statue in a variety of patterns, but the one my mom pointed out was the first one I saw and I liked it the most. I especially like that it makes me think about her when I see it. ❤

The last bunny items I purchased were some adorable decorative plates with images from Peter Rabbit on them. I have several Halloween themed plates from TJs that I just like to have so I was happy to add onto the collection. The pictures are so incredibly sweet and I actually have a few teacups with Peter Rabbit on them to match. Finally, Johnny and I are avid fans of wall art and after some deliberation, I added the butterfly illustration to my cart too. I have quite a few prints of scientific drawings of plants that I got from the Goodwill and this will look perfect hanging next to them. I love the frame and bold colors and, of course, I always think about my niece when I see butterflies – her favorite!

Now that I know when to find bunny themed home decor, you can catch me at the same place, same time next year. Thank you, TJMaxx, for making this bunny mom an extremely happy customer!

Do you change your home decor out every season? What is your favorite season to decorate for? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New & Improved Beauty Stock Pile

New & Improved Beauty Stock Pile

Hello!! There are a few things about my apartment that drives me absolutely nuts. One of which is my under the sink cabinet in the bathroom. At my old apartment, both of these cabinets opened perfectly and I was able to house all of my beauty care supplies. Here, however, the left cabinet is stuck something fierce and it is a pain to open. You literally have to rain blows upon it from the inside to get it to open and it is incredibly annoying. It also makes it very difficult to store all of my products because I can essentially only use one side of the cabinet. So, I decided on a simple AF solution that I am so happy with:

image_50397185(7)image_50384897(4)image_50371841(2)

As all of you know, I take my beauty stock pile seriously and it currently runneth over with skin care and Bath & Body Works hauls. What I love most about my hoard is being able to see all of the products and choosing which one to use next because it’s kind of like going shopping. This experience wasn’t possible with the cabinets so I used a chest of drawers to keep all of my goodies in instead. These drawers are old as dirt and I wasn’t using them for anything important – just random odds and ends that I had completely forgot about lol. I did find a ton of socks that I had convinced myself were gone for good, though, so that was a huge score!

Once I cleared out the top two shelves and condensed them to the bottom two, I began to fill each drawer. Bath and body care on the top shelf and skin care on the second one. This process was done in a flash, but it felt so good to do! I always consider my wardrobe to be my own personal boutique and now I get the same vibes with my beauty care. It was most pleasing to line them up in the order I wanted and have a visual of everything. It was pretty hard to tell what I even had in the cabinets when everything was piled on top of each other. In fact, I ended up finding tons of travel size B&BW freebies that got lost in the mix and is proof that this quick fix project needed to happen. 😀

Is this an HGTV level renovation? Not even HGTV Junior lol! But, I was able to problem solve and no longer have to punch my cabinet to get things out of it. Total GREAT SUCCESS!

What is a project you completed recently? What are your favorite things to stock up on? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Spring Cleaning Tips You Need For 2024

Spring Cleaning Tips You Need For 2024

We’re moving into a new year which means that you have to start thinking about how you want it to begin. Some people want to start their new year with a huge bash but who wants to start with a house they have to clean up?! Getting your home cleaned at the beginning of the new year can make a huge difference to your health and well being but it can also make a difference to the way you choose to get organized.

We may still be in the midst of winter and spring is a few months away, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get the house cleaned up and ready to go for the season. In fact, with the tips below you can ensure that every inch of your home is cleaned out and is ready to feel great. Let’s take a look at some tips that’ll help you to kick off well:

Start from the ground up:

The first thing is to get the vacuum cleaner and rid your home of dust and that starts with the floors. You need to vacuum everything from carpets and tiles to window tracks and skirting boards. Cleaning along all of these areas prevents the dust building up any further than it already has. Go cordless if you want to get everything done but always have a corded vacuum cleaner in the background just in case!

If your carpets have ground in stains or are a far cry from their original color, vacuuming alone is not going to give you the deep clean you are looking for. If this is the case for your home, simply enter a search for “Carpet Cleaning in Round Rock” (or your local area). You will be amazed by the results when your carpets are looking as good as they did when you first moved in.

Wash the walls:

Not many people think that their walls need to have anything done to them but washing the walls down is a great idea. Mixing a sugar soap solution in a bucket of warm water is the first step, the next is a flat mop. This will help you to wash the walls top to bottom without streaks being left anywhere.

Clean the bathrooms:

Bathrooms are germ cesspits and yours is no different no matter how often you clean it. Don’t just clean the bath and shower or the toilet, but clean the extractor fans, too, as this will stop any dust flying through the air and misting your bathroom with more dirt.

Bring in the carpet cleaning experts:

You can either hire someone to do it for you or you can hire a carpet cleaning machine and do it yourself. This should be done every three to six months because of dust and mite build up in the fibers. Cleaning out the carpets can also be done with steam cleaners and shampoo, but you need to make sure you don’t over wet it. The last thing you need in your quest to clean up is mold growth in the carpet and that musty smell that follows.

Sparkling windows:

When was the last time you had your windows professionally cleaned? It could be a great gift to yourself this year to have them cleaned on the inside and the outside. You won’t really notice how dirty the windows have become until you give them a proper clean. You can vacuum the tracks and then go through with warm water and detergent to scrub the windows, tracks, and the windows themselves. Always use a squeegee to remove any water so that you can get rid of any streaks.

Kick start your spring cleaning now for a squeaky clean home to welcome the new year with!

Different Ways To Use Metal Around The Home

Standard
Different Ways To Use Metal Around The Home

Metal can have many practical and decorative uses around the home – including uses you may not have even considered. Beyond plumbing and beams, here are some of the different ways you can incorporate metal in your home:

Doors & Windows:

Wood and fiberglass are the two most popular options for residential doors, however metal is becoming increasingly popular due to its security advantages. Most modern reinforced doors have a steel layer in them, helping to keep burglars out. Handles and locks are almost always made of steel. Metal window frames are similarly very secure, and a lot more long-lasting than vinyl. Steel and aluminum are the two most popular metals used for window frames and can come in a variety of different colors.

Roofing:

Steel roofs are favored for their energy-efficiency, fire resistance, and longevity. They are also easier to maintain than many other roofs and relatively affordable to install. A downside is that they can be quite loud in rain or hail.

Cladding:

Aluminum panel cladding is often used to create cool accents on the exterior of modern homes. Black metal panels can look particularly stylish when contrasted against brick. They’re also waterproof, helping to protect your walls.

Railings:

Metal can be used in many railings ranging from balcony railings to banisters. It provides a very strong barrier, while also being quite light and easy to install. There are many styles of metal railing from decorative wrought iron railings to minimal chrome steel railings.

metal1

Tables:

Tables can be made out of various different metals to provide a sturdy and waterproof option. Cast iron tables are a vintage option that is very heavy, which makes them ideal for the exterior in very windy backyards. Aluminum tables have a more modern look and are much lighter, making them great indoor pieces that can be easily moved around.

Bed frames:

Why choose a metal bed frame? Metal frames are typically much longer lasting than wooden frames and can take a lot more weight. They can also be lighter than wooden beds. You can buy metal single beds, double beds, and bunk beds.

Sink basins:

Stainless steel is a very common material for kitchen sink basins because it’s durable and very easy to clean. Copper can also be used as a kitchen sink material for an alternative vintage look. This looks fantastic when paired with a copper pull-down faucet.

Bath tub:

The majority of bathtubs are made from acrylic, but metal can be great for a stylish retro look. Metal can retain heat longer, resulting in baths that stay hot for ages. For those that don’t like the look of a steel tub, there are steel tubs coated in a white enamel finish as an alternative. Copper freestanding slipper baths meanwhile have a luxurious golden look.

metal2

Kitchen countertops:

Professional kitchens typically use stainless steel worktops because of how hygienic and easy to clean it is. Some homes incorporate stainless steel countertops in their kitchen for the same reason. For those that don’t like the commercial look of steel, copper may be a more stylish alternative.

Light fittings:

Metal is used in many light fittings. Popular styles include pendant lights, sputnik lights, and metal chandeliers. Chrome steel is one of the most popular modem options, but brass can be used for a vintage look, while black wrought iron can give off a charming industrial vibe.

Incorporating metal into your home is a unique, chic choice and is sure to wow your guests!
