All Done Holiday Shopping!!

All Done Holiday Shopping!!

HURRAY HURRAY! As of this week, I am officially all done holiday shopping and I seriously could not be happier. Being finished with gift buying less than halfway through November might seem obscenely early to some but, for me, it is just right. For as long as I can remember, I have never been one that enjoys last minute shopping or even going to the shops as Christmas draws closer. Don’t get me wrong, I love holiday set ups in stores and magnificent window displays just as much as the next person but, my god, the stress can be unbearable.

What if I can’t find just the right present in store? What if the gift arrives broken or the shipment gets delayed? What if the present is out of stock by the time I get to buying it? What if, what if, what if. AHHH! Just typing this out gives me anxiety!! I am far from the home stretch, just because Amazon packages still have to arrive, but the fact that I’m ninety-nine percent done makes me breathe easier.

Not only the aforementioned, but I’m happy to get one big bill out of the way now, rather than have it broken up into December when I’ll be trying to save moolah again. Hello, holiday cash! This is the earliest that I’ve ever completed my holiday shopping before, and I find myself wondering why I haven’t done it like this every year. The major stress of the season is gone and now I can sit back, relax, and sip my hot chocolate while the rest of my family and friends do the December Dash to get all of their shopping done in time! But that’s none of my business. 😉 😉 😉

Monday Update: The Fall Tag Edition

Hi everyone and happy Monday! Last week, my darling friend from Absolutely Blush nominated lifewithlilred for its first Fall Tag. Out of all of the fantastic awards that my page has so graciously been nominated for, this one is probably my favorite because I love and live for all things fall. Q & A:

What’s your favorite fall outfit? Mmmm, let’s see. I can’t say that I have a favorite outfit in particular but I would have to say that my favorite piece of fall clothing would definitely have to be peacoats. I’m obsessed with my newest peacoat purchase from Target – it’s perfect!

What is fall weather like where you live? I am located in Akron, Ohio which is about forty minutes from Cleveland. Right now, it feels way too warm here to be fall. Usually in the good ol’ AK-Rowdy we enjoy brisk temperatures in the 50’s and low 60’s, which is perfect for putting on a big, chunky sweater and hiking in one of our gorgeous Metro Parks.

What’s your favorite drink to have during the fall? Every once in a while I like to treat myself to the yummy Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks. However, I definitely enjoy hot coffee more during the cooler weather so I usually will just make myself a pot while I’m working and sip away.

What’s your favorite fall scented candle? I’m not a huge candle girl but I do love vanilla scented candles year round, even though that’s not really a fall scent!

What are your favorite fall activities? I love going to haunted houses, watching scary movies, and going for hikes. Apple picking and corn mazes are a plus, too!

What is one of your favorite fall memories? My family and our two pups went apple picking in Asheville, North Carolina last year and it was so much fun! The orchard was huge, the scenery was breathtaking, and the apples were delicious.

What are some fall movies that you enjoy? All of the Saw movies, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Ils, Sinister one and two, and The Conjuring. If it’s a scary movie, then chances are I love it!

What is your favorite fall treat? A great big caramel apple with peanuts! Yum!

If you celebrate Halloween, what is your favorite costume that you have worn? I can’t say that I really have a favorite, because I normally don’t dress up. When I was little, I was a generic, bought at the drug store princess for five years in a row – so clearly my younger self loved that!

  1. I’m pretty much out of fun facts about myself at this point.
  2. I am freaking STARVING as I write this.
  3. I’m currently dog sitting and both pups look like little potatoes with legs. It’s a hoot!
  4. Taco Bell gives my life purpose.
  5. My family jokes that I have a tapeworm because I’m literally always hungry.
  6. My favorite TV shows are Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Naked & Afraid, Botched, and My 600 Lb. Life.
  7. If you ever saw me driving in my car, it would probably look like I’m talking to myself because I listen to French tapes while I’m driving.
  8. I’m already looking forward to eating Thanksgiving food, lolol.
  9. Obviously, food plays a very important roll in my life.
  10. I love to read and just finished a book called Ginny Moon. It was alright.
  11. I am a Diet Coke fiend!!! It’s my absolute favorite pop and I could legit drink it all day.

What are your favorite smells? I love vanilla, apple, and anything citrus-y.

What do you do when you’re stressed? Read, listen to music, watch a movie. Pretty much what everyone else does, lol.

What is your favorite season and why? I LOVE THE FALL. Autumn all day every day. I love the weather, the activities, the leaves changing, and the clothes!

Is there anything you regret from your childhood? I’m not comfortable answering that.

Early bird or night owl? Early bird, for sure. I kid you not, I go to bed at like nine o’clock every night, hahaha.

What is your biggest time-wasting habit? Mmm…This is an obvious one but I can definitely kill some time on Facebook!

What’s one thing you want to master? I want to perfect my French speaking skills. I also want to start learning American Sign Language.

What have you never tried but want to? I would love to be able to travel more. Aside from Canada, I’ve never been out of the United States.

What’s your biggest fear? Too many to list here!

Describe the most precious thing in your room. Lol, also not comfortable answering this one, either.

What do you want the old you to look back on and remember fondly? That I’m a decent person and am kind to whomever I meet. And that I have a wonderful sense of style. Ayyyy.

Hi everyone and happy Sunday!! I am so happy to say that lifewithlilred was nominated for its eleventh Liebster Award by my friend, Trix, at The Confessions Of A Cosmetics Addict. Do you collect anything? If so, what? Shoes, shoes, shoes. I have over fifty pairs and I just might have bought some more on “accident”. Whoops!

If a film was made of your life, which famous actor/actress would you have play the part of you and why? Mmm, probably Helena Bonham Carter, because she’s quirky and unique enough to embrace the weirdness that is Lil Red. And, not to mention, that she’s drop dead gorgeous!!

What do you consider to be your best quality? My charming personality and staggering good looks. 😉 😉 😉

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why? Honestly, nothing. I like myself and am proud of myself. If I was asked that question a few years ago, I would have replied with “everything”. But hard work goes a long way, and I’m finally okay with myself after twenty-three years.

How do you prefer to spend your spare time? Writing, hanging out with my loved ones, EATING, shopping, reading, and watching movies.

What are your favorite makeup brands and why? I love NYX because they have the best matte lipsticks and I’m definitely a CoverGirl at heart, as well.

Recommend a favorite book and/or film and tell me why you recommend it. I recommend Pan’s Labyrinth to everyone. I love the work of the director, Guillermo Del Toro, and I think this film is him at his best. Pan’s Labyrinth really is an adult fairy tale and I could watch it every day and never grow tired of it.

Where would you most like to visit and why? France, so I can practice speaking French with the locals. And, of course, for the amazing scenery, food, and shopping!

What’s your favorite food? TACO BELL.

What’s you’re favorite drink? Coffee, I’m a Diet Coke fiend, and as far as alcohol goes, I love moscato, champagne, and the strawberry lemon drop martinis that my favorite bar serves.

What would your super power be? I would love to know every language ever. That would be amazing.

  1. I am really interested in buying a wig because I have a difficult time growing my long-short hair out. It would be nice to have the option for long hair, because I know that it’s not going to grow well naturally. Believe me, I’ve tried!
  2. I have always loved to write and have tons of filled up journals in my closet from when I was in high school.
  3. I’m seeing Marilyn Manson in concert on Friday and I’m so freaking hyped!!

Q & A:

What was that one thing that inspired you to start your blog? Enough people told me to! And I thought that it would be nice to have a unique creative outlet.

What is your favorite fast food place and what do you like the most about it? TACO BELL. I am a dedicated vegetarian and the fact that you can get beans instead of meat on the food there literally opens up the entire menu to me – which never happens at fast food places. It’s amazing to be able to get whatever I want, instead of having to settle for French fries because it’s legit all I can get at other restaurants.

Any life hack that you would like to give other bloggers? Lol, not really. In case all of you haven’t noticed by now, I just make things up as I go along!

Do you prefer book or movies? And which is your favorite? Books! I have many favorites but for the sake of time, I’ll list three: The Little Prince, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time, and Gentlemen & Players.

Now for the fun part. If you were to be the president of your country for a day, what would you do? Because I don’t care to share my political views on here, I’m going to say that I would find a home for every person or animal that needs one.

Happy Three Year Blogiversary, lifewithlilred!

Hi everyone and TGIF! Today is a very exciting day because it’s lifewithlilred’s three year Blogiversary! Three years ago to the day (Or yesterday, actually, lol – you can never be sure!), my blog baby was conceived. And now, three years later, lifewithlilred continues to go strong with readers in over one hundred and seventy different countries. Wow!

Lifewithlilred came into being when I made the decision to go to college. I needed a change from feeling like I was going nowhere, thanks to spending four years working retail in the mall (Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it was my time to go.). During my time selling clothing, I began growing what is now the black abyss that is my wardrobe and my peers and strangers, alike, agreed that I was fashionable and somewhat funny. At least once per week, I was told that if I began a blog, that I would have a reader in the person making the suggestion.

After enough positive prodding from the general public, I rolled my eyes and said, “fine”. I was making big and exciting changes in my life, so I figured “what’s one more?”. Thus, lifewithlilred was born. My blog name sprouted from the nickname, “Lil Red”, that was lovingly given to me by one of my favorite coworkers. And, Lil Red, obviously sprouted from my trademark red hair and red lipstick. Lifewithlilred just rolled off the tongue, so it stuck.

In my three years on the blogosphere, I have made so many amazing friends and wrote for companies that I admired from afar, like Adore Me and Warby Parker. My writing skills have improved a thousand fold, thanks to trying to post daily, and my confidence has skyrocketed from putting myself out there in the public eye. Lifewithlilred gives me a place where I feel like I am being heard, which is something that I used to want so desperately when I was feeling at my lowest. My blog truly feels like my little slice of internet paradise, and I am so proud of building that for myself and my readers.

Speaking of my readers! Here’s to all of you. Although I would love lifewithlilred even if I was the only person reading it, it would be a pretty lonely place without all of my friends and fans tuning in. To those of you who have been on my page since the beginning, thank you for your endless support. And to those of you who just discovered lifewithlilred, welcome aboard and I so hope that you will stick with me as my page continues to grow.

Hi everyone and happy weekend! I am so pleased to be nominated for my tenth Liebster Award by one of my all time favorite bloggers, friends, and human beings – Kate from Ankhor You. This beautiful blogger brings so much joy into my life and I genuinely hope that everyone has a friend like her for themselves. My days literally don’t feel normal without nonstop texting with her and I live for our two hour long FaceTime dates!
