Hiii everyone and TGIF! Earlier this week I was so happy to be nominated for The Blue Sky Tag by my friend Megan over at Megan Elizabeth Lifestyle. Over the years, lifewithlilred has been nominated for lots of awards and tags, but never this one so I am really excited! Onesie or Dressing Gown?

Definitely a nightie or a cute matching pajama pants and top set. I’m so obsessed with PJs as of late but I will never EVER wear a onesie – I personally think that they’re a bit ridiculous!

Bath or Shower?

For practicality purposes a shower but if I want to relax and have some me time, then a nice warm bubble bath.

What song are you currently obsessed with? (Mine is Green Light by Lorde)

Uhmmmm…. I’ve fallen into an unfortunate pop punk circa my high school years phase and am loving the album Underdog Alma Mater by Forever The Sickest Kids. Particularly “My Worst Nightmare”.

If you could have any chocolate bar in the world what would it be?

Trader Joe’s has this AMAZING dark chocolate bar that has chili powder and pop rocks in it and I freaking love it. I could totally eat like ten of them lol.

You’re having dinner with a historical figure, who would it be?

Hmm… I’m not sure. Does Johnny Depp count? haha

Why do you like blogging?

I love to blog because of all of the amazing friends that I have made all over the world. Blogging has put me in touch with people who I don’t think I would have met otherwise and I am so thankful for that.

What is your favorite blog to read at the moment?

Too many to count!

Cozy night in or wild night out?

I like both. Like, last night one of my girlfriends came over and we just drank some wine and watched Wentworth and it was a blast. But I do love going out to the bars with my friends when I’m feeling saucy.

Where do you dream of visiting and why?

Europe! Specifically Paris so that I can perfect my French!

What is your go-to choice for brunch?

It depends on what I’m in the mood for. If I want breakfast food, then definitely some type of fritatta and hashbrowns. But if I want lunch, then I usually go for some type of vegetarian friendly sandwich or a grilled cheese.

In your opinion, what is the best sitcom? (Friends, I’m not biased or anything!)

Seinfeld, of course!

I live in the USA.

I am 22.

3. Why did you start blogging?

Because enough people told me that I should so I rolled my eyes and said “fine”!!

4. If you had 3 wishes, what would you do?

If I told you, they wouldn’t come true!

5. Describe your personality in three words.

Caring, exuberant, unique.

6. What does success mean to you?

Doing what you love for a living.

7. What is your pet peeve?

Uhmmmm…I really hate when people make the quotes from memes their Facebook statuses and everyone thinks that it’s really funny but it was the meme that was funny, not the person. #petty hahaha

8. What are you fearful of?

I hate spiders, bridges make me wary, and cats.

9. You’re on a desert island and can take two items what would you choose?

A lawn chair and a bottle of rum!

10. Can you drive?

Yep, I drive a red 2012 Mazda 2 hatchback and it’s basically the love of my life.

11. What is your favorite feature of yourself?

My hair, of course!

  • I love all things horror! Books, movies, haunted houses. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is my fave and I currently love all things Jack Ketchum.
  • I read every night and am working on rereading Joanne Harris’s Gentlemen & Players.
  • I have very long, sharp acrylic nails that I love and only wear black nail polish with an accent color on my pointer fingers.
  • I love piercings and tattoos and am always looking to add to my collection.
  • I’ve been a vegetarian for very well over ten years now and couldn’t imagine a different lifestyle.

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday! I hope that all of you are having a wonderful start to your week. With Christmas being just around the corner in a whopping five days, I thought that it would be fun if we all answered some holiday season related questions and see how everyone is faring during this super festive time of year. My Answers:

  1. My holiday wish list is usually the same every year – moolah and makeup! I love when I can get a full restock of my favorite beauty essentials on Christmas. It may seem kind of boring, but my beauty must haves are things that I use daily and run out of quickly so having a few extra on back stock is a godsend!
  2. I LOVE Christmas dinner, which is typically the same as Thanksgiving dinner! So stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams and all of the vegetarian side dishes are my faves. I don’t really have a favorite holiday drink but I do enjoy treating myself to a Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks at least once during the winter.
  3. I am a very early holiday shopper! I was done buying and wrapping presents by early December and I am so happy for it. Shopping any later would give me anxiety!
  4. I would say that I am a 4 when it comes to holiday gift wrapping. I start out strong but then by gift number three, I think that a toddler could wrap better than I can.
  5. Hmm…last year my mom got me a gorgeous new coat from Target that I had my eyes on for forever and I freaking love that thing so much.
  6. I can’t really think of the worst present that I have ever received – that’s what gift receipts are for!
  7. Online holiday shopping is a must for me. I honestly can’t remember the last time that I did a majority of my Christmas shopping at the mall or wherever. Almost all of my shopping was done on Amazon and it made all of my Christmas purchases a breeze.
  8. My family celebrates Christmas but as a nonbeliever, I am only there for the food and the presents!
  9. MY SISTER IS SO HARD TO SHOP FOR. You would think that she would be one of the easiest but that has never been the case. My sister is very specific when it comes to things that she does and doesn’t like. That’s why I usually have to opt for gift cards or booze for her!
  10. An all expenses paid trip to Europe, duh. 🙂

Monday Update: The Travel Tag Edition

Hi everyone and happy Sunday! I haven’t done any of the fun tags and awards that I have been nominated for for awhile but when my super cute friend K.M. tagged me for the Travel Tag, I had to give it a go! I am hopefully crossing the ocean in the spring of 2017 to the UK for a graduation gift to myself so travel has been on my mind constantly. Q & A:

You are leaving tomorrow to start a life in a new country, where would you go?

FRANCE!! Mais, oui. I have been studying French since high school and I am nowhere near fully fluent but I am very dedicated to becoming so. I love everything about France – the people, culture, language, food, scenery – EVERYTHING. So, needless to say, if you don’t hear from me in a while, just know that I have packed up and gone away to France.

You can take someone for a weekend away to the place you had the best holidays ever, where would that be and who would you take to go with you?

Hmmm…Since a weekend isn’t a very long time, I would probably spend the weekend with my sister at Cedar Point. Cedar Point is about two hours away from yours truly and my sister and I both love amusement parks so I can totally picture us staying in one of their hotels and having a big adventure weekend at the theme park. I have never been there during the Halloween season, either, so I think that that would be so much fun!

You can get married wherever you want to, your budget is limitless, what is your choice?

I hate to be redundant here but can somebody say “Paris”?

During your travels you can bring back home one animal as a pet, which one would you pick?

A MONKEY, A MONKEY, A LITTLE BABY MONKEY!!! While exploring the jungles in some far away, exotic country, I will befriend a tiny little monkey and have it come home with me. Its name will be Frank. 🙂

You can go back in time and relive one family trip, which one?

Oh, that’s easy. Definitely Universal Studios! My entire family is a big lover of amusement parks and we had the literal best time at Universal. Being at Harry Potter World was a dream come true and I would give anything to go back.

What is the first thing you would pack for a one year travel around the world?

Red lipstick and a year supply of hair dye.

What would your fantasy 100th birthday destination be and why?

Uhhh… I don’t really plan on making it to my 100th birthday?

During your travel you can learn one sport to become a pro, what would that be?

I would continue my figure skating education! I skated throughout my childhood and early teens and miss it very much!

1. Describe your blogging style in FIVE words?

Unique, humorous, engaging, fun, and quirky.

2. What is ONE beauty product you can’t live without? Why?

Red lipstick. Particularly the shade Pure Red from NYX. The bold red lip is my signature look and it makes me feel confident and beautiful every time I wear it.

3. If you were to do a makeup look for ONE person for the rest of your life, who would it be and why?

No one. I suck at doing makeup for other people. I can barely do my own makeup! 😉

4. What is ONE piece of advice you would give your younger self when it comes to beauty? Why?

That beauty is more about being confident and comfortable in your own skin than what your makeup or hair looks like. I think every younger person is always trying to fit in with the trends and what’s popular but it’s important to stay true to what you like so your own unique, personal style can be developed.

5. If you were not a blogger, what would you be doing right now?

I would be doing what I’m usually doing! Going to school, working, and being a baller.

6. What is ONE funny beauty horror story you had?

Every time I dye my hair with my trademark Runway Red by Vidal Sassoon is a horror story. Whenever I wash the dye out, it looks like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was committed in my shower.

7. What is ONE product that you keep inside your every day makeup bag that you don’t really use at all?

Hmm… I don’t think I have an answer to this one. I’m not one to go makeup crazy at the store so everything that I have in my makeup stash is what I use as part of my daily routine.

8. What is the first thing you do in the morning as soon as you wake up?

Ugh, I hate saying this but I check my phone and Facebook! Such a millennial. -_-

9. What is ONE beauty routine you can’t live without?

Bubble baths!!!!

10. What is your main goal as a blogger?

To reach a wide variety of people and make new friends.

Your favorite thing to eat?

Taco Bell! Always and forever.

List five beauty products you use everyday.

My moisturizer from Trader Joe’s, Nutriganics eye cream from The Body Shop, Vitamin C Skin Boost from The Body Shop, some type of cream cleanser (I’m not picky), an exfoliator, and usually a St. Ives body wash. (That was six but I could have named twenty!)

One tip for writing a great blog post.

Write as if you were talking to your best friend.

If you could buy five things for free from Sephora what would you choose and why?

Uh oh…I’m going to sound like the worst girl ever but I’ve never purchased anything from Sephora before! I’m the queen of drugstore makeup so I never really bothered with getting sucked into the hype of high end beauty products. I suppose if I could try anything, though, I would love to give some of the Kat Von D lipsticks a try – I hear they’re amazing!

Perfume or body mist?

Body mist all day every day!! Country Apple from Bath & Body Works is my mist of choice and I have four extra bottles of it in my hoard just in case they ever discontinue the scent!

One tip for making your makeup last through the day?

I would say to stick with makeup that you know works. I have a very set in stone makeup regimen that I don’t often steer from so if you were in a situation where a makeup melt down would be disastrous (a wedding or a hot summer day) then it’s best not to be ballsy with trying something new. I like to stay within the brands that I love and know that work best for me because I’d hate to waste money on a product that doesn’t last/work well!

Straightening iron or hair dryer and why?

Straightening iron because I’m not patient enough for the hair dryer! I also prefer my hair to be pin straight and that’s something that I can never achieve on the rare occasion that I blow dry my hair.

How have you improved as a blogger over time?

I would say that my posts are way cleaner from when I first started out a year and a half ago. I’m a big grammar and run on sentence stickler so I’ve been trying to eliminate those faux pas from my writing and I think I’m doing alright so far!

Liquid eyeliner or pencil? Which do you choose? State your favorite brand and why you love it.

Definitely a pencil! I use Covergirl’s Liquiline Blast eye pencils and they’re so awesome. I don’t like the super hard pencils and the Liquiline Blast is so smooth and creamy, it makes applying it such a breeze. I also don’t have the steady hand for liquid eyeliner!

A makeup product you wouldn’t use even if you got it for free.

Lol, that’s easy! The brand, Nourish Organic, has the literal worst cleanser I’ve used in my life. You couldn’t pay me to ever buy it again.

Hi everyone and happy Monday! I hope all of you had a fabulous weekend! I’m so flattered by all of the awards that lifewithlilred has been nominated for in the past week and this latest tag is no exception. I was so excited when my friend, Aurora, over at hlauroremode nominated me for the Beauty Blogger Tag because I’ve never been before! Every time I see this tag on other posts I get green with envy and wonder when it’s going to be my turn so today’s post is such a treat! Thank you so much for the nomination, Aurora! Q & A:

What is your beauty routine?

I use a cream cleanser and an exfoliater every morning and then use an eye cream, a moisturizer, and a serum afterwards. Once I get my skin ready for the day, I apply my makeup and then straighten my hair with the assistance of Fiji oil.

How often do you exercise?

Never. Unless eating pizza counts.

Do you organize your makeup and nail polish?

I wouldn’t necessarily call my makeup organized but I do know where everything I need is in my bathroom cabinet. I actually don’t really wear nail polish so keeping them organized is never a problem for me since I only wear black polish on occasion!

Can you go out without wearing makeup?

Yep! It took me a long time to be comfortable and confident enough to be able to do it but now I go out makeup free all the time. In fact, I went shopping without my makeup on just last night!

How long does it take to put on your makeup?

It used to take me such a long time to do my makeup but now I’d say that my morning routine (shower, prepping my skin, makeup, hair) takes about forty-five minutes.

How often do you wash your makeup brushes?

Oh jeez, never. That’s something that I definitely need to be better at!

What is your favorite store to buy clothes at?

I love H&M as well as the occasional splurge at Express and American Eagle Outfitters.

How do you keep your skin soft?

At least three or four times out of the week I apply lotion from my hoard all over before bed. I like putting it on before I hit the hay because I know that it’s going to do its thing all night and then I can get the residue and scent washed away in the morning.

What motivates you?

People who are successful because they did things their own way.

What is your “smell good” routine?

That’s an easy one! My Country Apple spray from Bath & Body Works. I LOVE apple fragrances and originally I was using Victoria’s Secret’s Enchanted Apple. Unfortunately, that scent was discontinued so when I found B&BW’s Country Apple during one of their big sales, I stocked up! I seriously don’t know what I’m going to do if they ever stop making that scent because I was legitimately devastated when VS no longer carried their Enchanted Apple.

Why did you start blogging?

Lol, the honest answer is that a lot of people told me I should because of my unique style. I created lifewithlilred and discovered that I was pretty good at the whole blogging thing and then continued to go from there.

How long have you been blogging?

Since September of 2014.

Why did you chose this name for your blog?

I wanted something catchy and I also wanted it to be recognized as something that no one but me could have created. My nickname is Lil Red thanks to my bright red hair and lipstick. People know me as “that girl with the red hair” and I like titles that roll off the tongue so I thought lifewithlilred was a perfect name.

What are the top three things you want to do in 2016?

Get hired for a summer internship (fingers crossed!), graduate with my Associate of Arts degree after the fall semester, and get a bunny!!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Uhhhh…I don’t know, probably still miserable and apathetic. 😉

Are you a sweet/sour person?

SOUR!! I love sour candy so much. As far as my personality goes, I’m definitely like a Sour Patch Kid. I can change from sour to sweet and vice versa in a heartbeat!

If you won the lottery what would be the first thing you would do?

Find a home for every animal in every shelter in existence.

Are You a Morning Person?

Absolutely not, but with enough coffee I’m learning how to be.

Describe yourself in one word.

Unique.

Hmm…Right now I’m wearing one of my usual All Black Everything outfits and my crop top says Killin’ The Game in cursive. I love crop tops because I like to play peek a boo with my tattoos and piercings! 😀

Monday Update: Infinity Dreams Award Edition

Hi everyone and welcome to another week here on lifewithlilred! I was recently nominated by my friend, Coral, at notsoanonymousmermaid for the Infinity Dreams Award. I’m super excited because I’ve never gotten nominated for this one before so it should be fun to fill out. Make sure you check out Coral’s page, which is linked above – it’s a real gem! All About Me:

  1. My family recently adopted a new dog named Ollie and he’s the cutest little thing on the planet!
  2. I wear black a majority of the time, not because I’m trying to Goth out or anything, I just like it.
  3. I’ve gotten over thirty piercings in my lifetime but I only have ten now.
  4. I have four tattoos and would love to get more but I just don’t feel like paying for them.
  5. I’ve been blogging since September of 2014
  6. By the end of this fall, I will have earned my Associate of Arts degree from Tri-C.
  7. I love scary movies. I just recently watched a German horror film called “Goodnight Mommy” and it was fantastic.
  8. I love to read. I just finished a book called “Room” and it was excellent. I’m really looking forward to seeing the movie.
  9. I don’t watch a ton of TV but I’m a faithful viewer of “My 600 lb. Life” every Wednesday on TLC.
  10. I have close to 8,000 songs on my iTunes and I love them all equally.
  11. I will never say no to Taco Bell, cheap wine, a cup of coffee, or a cigarette.

Q & A:

1. If you could only watch one TV show for the rest of your life what would it be and why?

Seinfeld because I’ve seen all of the episodes numerous times and it never gets old. Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm are my favorite TV shows.

2. What was your last dream about?

I don’t remember. If I dream something really cool, I’ll write it down but if not, I forget my dreams within a half hour or so of waking up.

3. What is your favorite quality about yourself?

My quirkiness. It keeps life interesting.

4. If you could bring one Disney character to life who would it be and why?

Uhm…Probably Ariel from The Little Mermaid because then it would confirm that mermaids are real!

5. What is your favorite meal of the day and why?

My midnight binge eating sessions! I loveee eating a lot before bed so a huge late night snack is a must for me.

6. If you could have one dream come true what would it be?

Uhh…I don’t know. That’s a hard one.

7. If you could live in one fairy tale land what would it be and why?

I’m not too sure on that one either!

8. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

Taco Bell.

9. Summer or winter?

I don’t like summer too much but I guess I prefer it over winter.

10. What is your favorite memory?

Going to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida with my family! It was awesome.

11. If you could marry a fictional character who would it be and why?

HARRY POTTER!!! Because then I would get to be a part of all of the magic and not be such a muggle. -_-

Hi everyone and happy Thursday! I was so excited to have been recently nominated for my fourth Liebster Award by my friend, Annette, over at nananettie1969! Her blog is fantastic so much sure you check it out and give her page some love. Lifewithlilred has been receiving a lot of award nominations lately and it is so very much appreciated. What is your favorite song?

“Beautiful Day” by U2. So much so that the day I turned eighteen I got lyrics from the song tattooed on my shoulder.

What is your favorite color?

Black and red.

What inspires you the most?

People who work really hard and people who use their time and talents to help others.

What genre do you write?

Oh, a little bit of everything. I’m not tied down to one specific genre. If anything, I just like to write about my day and what’s going on in my sub par life. 😉

What is your pet’s names if any?

Gem is my family’s Golden Retriever and Winston is my sister’s little Yorkie and Shih Tzu mix that we babysit sometimes!

Do you have kids?

No kids! I don’t want children nor do I like them that much.

Do you have a sign or symbol that represents you?

Uhm…not really. Well, actually…Does a cigarette and a lighter count?

What do you like to blog about?

Like I mentioned earlier, a little bit of everything. I like writing about beauty and fashion as well as movies, music, books, and school. You never know what you’re going to end up reading next on my site!

Where would you like to visit?

I would love to travel all over Europe!

What do you like to indulge in?

Cheap wine, new shoes, and really good skin care products.

What type of food is your favorite?

I like all types of food, I’m not picky! I’ve been a vegetarian for a very long so any style of food that gives me a lot of options is always preferred. I just recently had some fantastic Indian food with a few of my friends at a restaurant called the Saffron Patch and I can’t wait to go there again. Otherwise, I like Italian, Mexican, and Chinese food a lot. I also will never say no to Taco Bell EVER.

If you could give a million dollars to charity what one or ones would you choose?

Anything that involves helping animals – whether they be in shelters, on the verge of extinction, or just need extra love and care. I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t like animals and I despise people who hunt.

Why do you blog?

I’ve always loved to write and enjoyed journaling a lot when I was in high school. Lifewithlilred is kind of like my online journal. I also really enjoy interacting with all of my readers in over one hundred and fifty different countries!

How many followers do you have?

Almost 2,000!
