Monday Update: Online Shopping, Lil Red Style!

Hello, hello everyone and Happy Monday!! I hope all of you had a terrific weekend and a lovely Mother’s Day! I did some cleaning out of my vast closet this weekend and hit up Plato’s Closet this morning to get rid of some of my clutter. Before I drop off the items that they didn’t want to purchase at the Goodwill, I wanted to give all of you gorgeous readers the opportunity to get to them first! (And speaking of Goodwill, make sure you take a look at my article “Thrift Shop Fun At Blue” to read all about my amazing thrifting experience this past weekend!) So pull up a chair, get comfy, and check out this cute dress and jewelry that I have up for grabs. And while you’re at it, make sure you check out my articles “Look Like Lil Red” and “Just So You Know” for some other fabulous finds! Here we go, some online shopping Lil Red style!

IMG_3339[1]IMG_3340[1]IMG_3342[1]IMG_3343[1]IMG_3344[1]

And as usual, here’s the breakdown of each item and where they’re from!

  • Sheer dress: Lux, size Small (Forgive me for forgetting where I purchased this bad boy!)
  • Beaded pendant choker: I got this beauty in a fair trade store in Chicago. If memory serves me correctly it was made in Africa.
  • Beaded floral choker: This fun little piece was purchased from The Market Path in Akron, which is another fair trade store. Once again, if memory serves me correctly, this necklace was made in India.
  • Knick knack necklace: American Eagle

The Lux sheer dress is seriously so cute. It looks darling under a black slip and paired with some funky wedges. The gap backed detailing is especially fun and the eyelet button on the back neckline is another sweet little add on. I love fair trade shopping too much, particularly fair trade jewelry shopping as you can see! Nothing is better than buying some great pieces that go to an even better cause. While cleaning my closet this weekend, I went through my jewelry collection so I could try to dwindle it down because it was getting out of control. Despite how cute all three of the necklaces I have up for grabs are, I rarely wear them and they’re just taking up space. All of these pieces are in great condition, and if you’re interested in any or all of them, you can email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com so we can discuss prices and I can send you more detailed pictures! For more exclusive peaks into my wardrobe, make sure you check out “Look Like Lil Red”, “Just So You Know”, and all of my other fashion articles! Happy shopping!

Once again, if you’re interested in any of these pieces, make sure you email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com! And as always, keep it tuned in at http://www.lifewithlilred.com for all of the latest and greatest! Where’s all of my fans of The Following at? Are you super hyped for the two hour long episode tonight?! I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Heyyyy everyone! So not only do I have some figure skating dresses up for grabs as you saw in my last post “Just So You Know” but I also have some of my second hand clothes for sale as well. Usually I take all of my clothes that I no longer wear to Plato’s Closet and the Goodwill…which should have been the case with the items that I’m about to show you – but they really are fabulous and I didn’t want them going to just anyone. Take a look at these fun pieces, and if you’re interested please email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com so we can discuss pricing and I can send you more detailed pictures if you would like!

Here’s the sizes, brand, and where I purchased each of these items:

  • Blazer with elbow patches: Small. The brand name is unfortunately not listed on the inner tag of the item, but I purchased it at Francesca’s. (For those of you who don’t know, that’s a sweet little boutique in the mall that I live by. Think ModCloth clothing (ish) but for better prices.)
  • Metallic bottomed skinny jeans: 28R. I got these at the Gap, however I only wear black skinny jeans now!
  • Tiger decal high waisted jeans: USA size 5, UK size 9. These jeans are Insight brand and they were an online exclusive on http://www.PacSun.com. I love these jeans too much, however they don’t fit me the greatest because they’re high waisted and as I mentioned above – I only wear black jeans now!

I wouldn’t be offering all of you lovely readers these pieces to purchase if they weren’t in completely perfect condition. I’ve only worn all of these items less than five times each and they really are so freaking cute! If you or anyone you know is interested, you can email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com so we can discuss prices and whatnot! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: Shoes, Shoes Shoes Edition!

Monday Update: Shoes, Shoes Shoes Edition!

Helloooo everyone and welcome to my Monday Update: Shoes, Shoes, Shoes Edition! My mom and I had a fabulous afternoon of shopping at Kohl’s yesterday and I made out like a bandit in the markdown shoes department. Take a look at my three new beauties that I got for an amazing price:

IMG_2864[1]

^^^ So gorgeous, right? Before I discuss the experience, here’s the usual break down of each shoe and the brand. I also will be including the original and markdown prices as well!

  • Black wedges: Kohl’s, Apt. 9 (Originally $64.99, marked down to $18 and some change)
  • White lace up wedges: Kohl’s, Juicy Couture (Originally $74.99, marked down to $50)
  • Mushroom grey wedges: Kohl’s, Juicy Couture (Originally $74.99, marked down to $19 and some change)

For three amazing pairs of shoes I paid about $90 and saved a total of over $100…if that’s not ballin on a budget then I don’t know what is!

When my mom asked me to go to Kohl’s with her I really had no intention of buying anything – but lo and behold, I ended up having multiple shoegasms that resulted in my ever growing shoe collection to expand once again. Kohl’s always has amazing winter markdowns, especially in the shoe department. In fact, some of my favorite shoes have came from the end of winter sales, including my beloved Vera Wang wedges and a really amazing pair of lace up espadrille wedges. So needless to say, I’m not surprised with how lucky I got in the shoe section yesterday. By the time I got to the shoesies, I already had an armful of clothes that I planned on trying after I breezed through the shoes. But I shouldn’t have lied to myself, because with Lil Red there’s no such thing as “breezing through” the shoe department. AS IF. As soon as I got to the shoe section my eyes fell on my beautiful new lace up Juicy heels and I knew that they had to be mine. My armful of clothes was no longer of importance, because I was in shoe territory now and the only thing that mattered was getting those pretty babies on my feet ASAP. It was seriously love at first sight and I feel even deeper into my affection once I took my first steps in them. They were perfect. I was in love, and when my mom showed up to take a look at my finds, so was she. While strutting about the shoe section in my latest obsession, I happened to notice the green/grey Juicy wedges which made my heart beat a little faster when I laid eyes on them. I grabbed my size and when I looked at the price I almost had an aneurism! Nineteen dollars?! Yes, please. In all reality, I didn’t even have to try these shoes on because I knew I was going to purchase them. They were adorable and you’re not going to NOT buy a pair of Juicy wedges for under twenty bucks! I modeled them for the full length mirror and my mama anyways, and while I took my usual stroll around the shoe department once more to test the waters of the wicker basket detailed wedges I locked eyes on one more fabulous find…the black zip up Apt. 9 wedges for EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. I basically shoegasmed everywhere. Once again, I snatched up my size and returned back to my mom and try on bench for the last time. My mom is such an amazing sport – every new shoe that I showed up with she rolled her eyes and said something along the lines of “it must be hard having everything look good on you” or “Sarah, you’re the only one who could pull those off…other than the designers”. So sweet! My Apt. 9 wedges were no exception, because as soon as they were on my feet they had the mama and Sarah stamp of approval…who could ask for anything more?!

Annnnd in case you were wondering, here’s a picture of my shirt that I got at The Used concert on Saturday night!

PS: My new shoe purchases can be found online at http://www.kohls.com or possibly in stores depending on their markdown selection!

When I Get Sad I…

When I get sad I…….

Remember that everyone who works at the nail salon I go to loves me. 😉

Think about how hard I work at getting my college degree, which pays off in my straight A’s.

Look through my fabulous wardrobe filled with dresses, shirts, skirts, pants, and accessories in every shape, size, color, and pattern imaginable. Nothing makes me happier than piecing together quirky/cool new outfits to wear on the daily.

Examine all of my tattoos and piercings and remember how much pain I was in each time, but how awesome the end results are.

Think about my crazy family who drives me absolutely mental, but who I couldn’t live a day without.

Go through my archives of friendship memories with my best girl and guy friends and laugh over the millions of inside jokes accumulated over the years.

Go to Taco Bell.

Drink wine in moderation….yeah right. 😉

Pamper myself, because a bitch deserves it and my red hair has to be ridiculously bright at all times.

Get myself dolled up – dress, heels, red lipstick for days and go run errands while looking like a super sassy woman on the go.

Write, write, write whether it be on my blog, or a journal, or just random doodles on a scrap of paper.

Remind myself that things probably won’t get any worse. Lol, #optimist

Curl up in my blankets, pretend that I’m a burrito, and ponder the meaning of life.

Shave my legs, no matter HOW MUCH I hate it…which is a lot. (Nothing says ladylike like some smooth leggies!)

Cook a delicious dinner and watch my family enjoy it. (Which I’ll be doing today, because I just made a really yummy looking red lentil soup. I cooked for two hours this afternoon all while wearing a dress. Hello, housewife!)

Visit my favorite elderly friend at the retirement home, because it shows me that I’m capable of making somebody’s day. (And because I love her so much!)

Binge read a book to take me to a world that isn’t Akron, Ohio. (I’m currently reading The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and it’s amazing! I started it yesterday and am halfway through already!)

Remember that no one will ever, ever be me…Sarah (AKA Lil Red). A fabulous, sassy, smart, stylish, witty, caring, kind, generous, determined, and strong willed young lady.

This post was inspired by a Facebook status that I made today that read “When I get sad I remember that everyone who works at the nail salon I go to loves me, then I feel better. (insert cigarette emojis here)” I thought it would be a fun blog post and a good way to remind myself of ways to make me happy, so I took the idea and ran with it. What are some things that you do to cheer yourself up after a rough day? What’s your favorite comfort food to eat when you’re sad? (Mine is obviously Taco Bell). I would seriously love to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Forgetful Me!

Guyyyyyyys, seriously? You let me forget some of the stuff that I was gonna talk about in my Lil Red’s Spring Obsessions post?! Thanks a lot! -___- Kidding of course, but for real I’m so annoyed at myself for forgetting to mention my latest jewelry obsession! *Drum roll pleeeease* ……………

…..BODY CHAINS! Yes, yes, yes I love them! I found my new beauties when I went with my sister to get her ears repierced at Claire’s. Kristen is the queen of piercing her own ears, it’s actually really amazing. I remember walking in the bathroom and seeing her stick a needle through her ears like it was nothing. Unfortunately, miss thang came to the realization that almost every hole she poked was totally uneven so she decided to let them close up and get them redone by someone who actually knows what they’re doing. I really don’t know how she does it. I’ve gotten countless extreme piercings – hips, collarbones, four nose piercings at once – but I can’t for the life of me pierce my own ears! As you can see from all of my pictures and posts of my body mods, I can clearly handle pain but I apparently can’t handle shoving a needle through my lobe…go figure. ANYWAYS, I’ve been looking for some cool body chains for forever, and I was soooo excited when I saw that Claire’s had a wide selection to choose from! Kristen and I got 20% off of our purchase since she got her ears pierced and the jewelry was buy two get one free on top of that, so it was quite the deal! Take a look at my new swagg (and remind me to never say that again):

chainchain1chain2

^^^^ So fun, right?!

I love these sassy and edgy new additions to my jewelry collection so much, but my one complaint is that they get tangled like NO OTHER. Seriously, one wrong move with these bad boys when you’re putting them on, taking them off, or putting them away for the day can result in a big, frustrating, knotty mess. Believe me, it’s happened to me too many times to count already. Luckily, my dad is amazing at unknotting jewelry, but in all honesty the chains are quite flimsy so a few more untangling sessions will probably result in one of them breaking – sad but true. Despite the chain challenges, these are such a cool add on to any outfit. I love wearing them with crop tops and I’m also very excited to wear them with my bikini in the summer time!! I’ve seen so many body chains online that I like, but they’re all quite expensive. The ones I purchased at Claire’s were $11.99 each, which was a steal as far as I’m concerned. So if you’re looking for some cute body chains but aren’t interested in shelling out an arm and a leg, definitely check out Claire’s in stores and online at http://www.claires.com/us/!

^^^ I had to!!!

So there you have it, a quick little add on to my Lil Red’s Spring Obsession’s post! I hope all of you are having a fabulous Hump Day evening! What are your favorite new jewelry trends? Where is your favorite place to purchase jewelry? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Goodnight! -Sarah

Lil Red’s Spring Time Obsessions

Helloooooo everyone and happy Hump Day! I’m just hanging out at Starbucks at the moment. I literally just finished writing a ten page research paper, so I figured why not write some more on the ol’ blog?! I’ve upped my spring wardrobe game and refreshed a few oldie but goodie pieces in my closet, and I must say….I’m obsessed. There’s a few pieces that I’ve been using a lot lately that I just can’t get enough of! Take a look and then we’ll discuss!

bagbag3shoesshoes2cardivestshirt3shirt1

^^^ I’m so aware that I’ve posted some of these pics before, but they’re so fab I just can’t help it! Let’s begin with talking about my featured image pic!

Daisy boob crop top (PacSun, Workshop): Much to my parents displeasure, I absolutely love this shirt. I’ve had it for close to a year now, and I’m still just as in love with it as I was the day I got it. This crop is so cheeky and fun, it really is one of my favorite spring and summer staples. The daisy frame aviators are also from PacSun, and they’ve gotten a lot of use since I purchased them as well. I wear this shirt with anything – maxi skirts, body con skirts (for when I’m feeling super sassy), jeans (only black skinnies, of course), shorts, underneath a flannel or cardigan – I love it all!

Skull tote bag (Target): My mom gifted me with this little baby years ago, and honestly I’m just now starting to use it a lot. This has been my go to spring time bag for school and in general. It’s perfect for lugging around textbooks and edging up a sun dress. As you guys well know, I love Target so very much, and this purse was a total home run. Way to go, mom! 😉

Turquoise purse (TJMaxx, Urban Expressions): I think that this all vegan leather purse is such a fab spring staple. It was only thirty five dolla holla too, hello bargain! The color is so phenomenal and I plan on changing out my skull bag to use this one very soon! My brother got the turquoise necklace seen in the picture in New Mexico, and now I’m sure you guys can guess what one of my favorite spring time colors is!

Floral print heels (Kohl’s, Elle): Ahhhh! My Barbie heels! ❤ I love these pretty babies so so SO much! Floral for spring is so cliche, I know – but these are so cute that I just can’t help it. I pair these heels with everything from my girliest girly outfits to my grungy rocker looks. I like how the colors used are muted and water color-esque, which I think is a more unique take on the usual loud and in your face florals. IE: My daisy boob crop top!

Army green heels (TJMaxx, Guess): I know for a fact that I’ve posted about these bad boys before, but they’re so nice I’ll write about them twice! These have been my go to heels this past month, and I’m so okay with it! The shape is so unique and the color is still neutral enough that it goes with everything. Usually I’m not a fan of a thick wedge heel when the shoe isn’t a full on wedge, but these are the exception. #love

Crochet Vest (PacSun, LA Hearts): This little number is an oldie but goodie and I’m still a fan. I’ve grown very fond of the concept of a vest lately, as you can see by my kimono and flannel vest that are also pictured above. I like how easy these are to just slip on and BOOM your outfit is instantly spruced up. I usually pair my crochet vest over a crop top with a maxi skirt for a cool boho look. It’s also a sweet piece to add on with a pair of shorts!

I know I’ve mentioned the last three pictures recently, but they’re seriously some of my favorite new spring purchases so I felt the need to display them again! I’m actually wearing the flannel vest right now and I feel like the queen of grunge and sassiness. Holla atcha girl. And in case you were wondering, here’s the brands and where I purchased the final three pieces:

  • Kimono vest: Target
  • Flannel vest: TJMaxx, Vanilla Star
  • Maxi shirt: TJMaxx, Gaze USA

So there you have it! Some of my favorite Spring Time obsessions! What are all of you rocking this spring? What’s your favorite new purchase? What’s your favorite oldie but goodie item in your closet? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: Doing Good Feeling Great Edition

Whatsup guys and Happy Monday! I don’t know about you, but I’m having a really awesome day so far! I’m doing good AND feeling great! I’m feeling completely healthy, which is cool because my stint with the flu left me with a bit of a cold that’s finally no longer. My weekend was fantastic, so I’m still in a good mood from that. AND school is going swimmingly…homegirl has straight A’s for days in all of my classes! Hurrah! Something that I’m feeling particularly happy about is an email that I got from my College Composition II professor today. I’m taking that class online and have never met my professor in real life. We’re nearing the end of our semester and we have an option to either meet up with her on campus or email her some questions for our conference on our final research paper. I wanted to meet up with her in person to discuss a few things, but unfortunately our times on campus never intercept with each other. I emailed her to let her know I’d be emailing her my conference questions and she replied back that was disappointed because she was really looking forward to meeting me in person. I was so flattered by this! I don’t know this woman from anyone, and the fact that our online interactions were positive enough for her to feel sad that we wouldn’t get to meet up in real life really means a lot to me. Our usual interactions are limited to her comments on my essays and homework and the occasional emails back and forth, so the fact that she finds my writing impressive and our little chit chats enjoyable makes me feel so good. I know that it’s a little thing, but it’s amazing how something so small can set such a positive tone for the rest of the day. Now that I know that my professor was looking forward to meeting Lil Red in all of my real life glory I plan on sticking around on campus on the day that we miss each other by an hour so I can see her. Call me a kiss ass or whatever, but if waiting around at school for an hour is what it takes for us to have a brief meeting, then I’m more than happy to do so! Yay school!

^^^My current blogging soundtrack! Enjoy! 😉

So I watched The Theory Of Everything last night as I mentioned in my Lil Red Pro Tips post and it was phenomenal…just as I expected. 😉 And in case you were wondering, my lava cake dessert that I was baking as I was blogging yesterday was SO delicious! It was a hit with my entire family, and it’s almost all gone already! We served it with our chosen combination of strawberries, whipped cream, and ice cream and it was nothing short of orgasmic….hey, every girl needs a good chocolate fix!

I hope all of you are having a great day! I’m off to finish some homework really quick before I get my haircut. Mama is getting super shaggy and I am so not okay with it! Where are my fans of The Following at? How excited are you for tonight’s new episode?! BTW – did you catch that they used Akron, Ohio (AKA Lil Red’s hometown #represent) as a reference point in last week’s episode?! So cool. Any questions? Concerns? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: nfnjngvhtfsuj Edition -__-

Heyy everyone and happy Monday! I hope all of you who celebrated had a wonderful Easter yesterday or just had a great normal day….I know I didn’t. -__- Here’s my current tale of woe that left me feeling horrible AND incapable of even coming up with a comprehensive title for this post:

SO, as you guys know, I was really sick last week with the flu. It was awful, miserable, and every other bad adjective that I can think of. I had gone to the doctor, and he said not much could be done as far as medication goes to help get rid of my problem, but he did prescribe me some antibiotics to help ease some of my symptoms like my cough. I had started taking the antibiotics the following day and the day after, and I couldn’t notice a significant difference. But at that point, I was already starting to feel better on my own. By Friday, I was feeling well enough to be out and about, so like a fucking goon I thought that meant that I could stop taking my antibiotics. I mean, I was feeling better and they weren’t really helping any to begin with, so certainly that’s okay right? WRONG. Little did I know, you’re not supposed to stop taking the antibiotics until your prescription is completely done for risk of secondary infections. And naturally…this bitch got a secondary infection. I started feeling a little less than 100% on Saturday night, but I thought that I was just tired. Wrong, again. By the time I woke up on Sunday morning, I was in a right state of god awful. I was sweaty, dizzy, and out of breath even though I didn’t do anything but wake my sorry ass up. My body ached, my cough was coming back, and I was so upset I could have started crying. When I went downstairs to tell my mom the latest sucky news in the shit show that is my life, she immediately asked me if I was still taking my antibiotics. My mom is a doctor, and when I told her no she almost had a cow. “Didn’t I teach you better” and blah, blah, blah. So that’s when I learned that it’s a big no no to not take your meds! So for all of Sunday, I was stuck in bed feeling a hot ass wreck. Honestly, I felt more sick on Sunday than I did at any point during my stint with the flu. I was SO dizzy and clammy. It was weird because I was also hungry ALL the time yesterday. I had no appetite but I was so starving and even when I would eat, I was still hungry after. So I’m not really sure what that side effect means, but I don’t plan on Googleing it because I’ll probably convince myself that I’m dying. Anyways, here I am now, feeling better than yesterday but still not great by any means. I still have the aches and the sweats, so I guess today is another day of binge watching season two of Orange Is The New Black. I’m just so annoyed because this second sickness stint is completely and totally my fault, and now all there’s left for me to do is just wait to feel better again like I did before. #FML :(((

sickoo

^^Basically me in a nut shell.

So here I am again a week later from my first Monday Update about being sick, writing another Monday Update about being sick. Worst. Week. Ever. I hope all of you are having a better day than mine! How was your Easter? Did you do anything special to celebrate. I wanna live vicariously through you (lol), so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
