Dinner & A Show OOTD Bloopers

Howdy everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Dinner & A Show OOTD! Because of this past year being absolutely INSANE, Johnny and I didn’t get the opportunity to go on many dates. Rather, we opted to staying in and having game nights. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good night in playing board and video games but there is something about a night out that just hits different!

With things thankfully slowing down in Lil Red’s world, going out on actual dates with Johnny is finally happening again. It is something that I missed so much and I relish every second of them. And, naturally, I have to look my absolute best as we continue on with our Date Night Revival:

That face you make when your husband lets you know he has to go to the bathroom for the millionth time

I hate to get all sappy, but the past few date nights with Johnny have made me school girl giddy. The last date that I can recall going on before Moulin Rouge and Dinner & A Show was seeing Hadestown way back in February! Saying a night out was long overdue is a huge understatement and now that it’s happening, it feels like our first dates all over again. It’s freaking awesome and made such a simple night out feel like a massive event!

For future date nights, we plan on making the ultimate Middle Class Fancy circuit. We’re talking Olive Garden, we’re talking Red Lobster, O’Charley’s, and oh so much more. Johnny and I are not hard to please whatsoever and dining at a five star restaurant has no appeal to us. We want to go to all of the places that are reasonably priced, dress to the nines, and eat like kings. Our dinner at Applebee’s gave us an insatiable craving for the average things in life and I am eagerly anticipating all of the bread sticks at the OG. 😀

No matter where we go or what we do, Johnny and I always have a blast. When you bring the party just by arriving, it turns going to a chain restaurant into an amazing date. Here’s to Middle Class Fancy because it’s the best way to go!

What is your favorite chain restaurant? How do you get your Middle Class Fancy on? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Dinner & A Movie Date Night

Hello! Last Friday, Johnny and I had a fabulous date night of dinner and a movie. Applebee’s was running a promo for spend X amount of money and get a free ticket to Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and we were so there for it! In fact, we got our Middle Class Fancy on so hard that we ended up with three free tickets lol. It was an absolute blast and was so typically us. Whether we’re all dressed up for Taco Bell or a date night at The Bee’s, we treat everything like a special occasion because it is! Check it out:

image_50453761(5)image_50439169(9)image_50440961(7)image_50435329(6)image_50443777(3)image_50435841(5)image_50432513(4)image_50432769(6)

Okay, is it just me or did Applebee’s really up their game? Perhaps it was the Margaritas we were enjoying or the thrill of a night out, but our food was so good. We started our meal with Crispy Cheese Bites as an appetizer and they were bomb AF. They were like a mixture of a cheese curd and mozzarella stick and came with Ranch and Firecracker sauce to dip in. If we didn’t have actual dinner ordered too, we easily could have ate the whole plate! Our leftovers were also A1 when we air fried them later that weekend. 😀

For the main course, Johnny got his usual of a bacon cheeseburger and I got the Three-Cheese Chicken Penne minus the chicken. As you can see, Johnny loved his burger and my pasta was awesome. It wasn’t as good as something from Olive Garden, but it was close. My meal also inspired our next Middle Class Fancy outing because I want to hit up the OG. Maybe when I drag Johnny to the Barbie movie with me?!

After we were done eating, we headed to the theater to settle in for the movie. This was the first movie we have seen since we took our niece to see Sing 2 for her third birthday last year! Pre pandemic, Johnny and I used to see movies together pretty frequently and I’m hoping we bring that back. The Regal we went to was so fancy with big reclining chairs that were insanely comfortable. It was the perfect setup to get our Indiana Jones on and I only want to go to that theater from now on. Once you see a movie in a recliner, you can’t go back!

Johnny and I have had a date night two weeks in a row and nothing makes me happier. Even though we are always dead tired by the end of the week, stepping out with my main squeeze is like getting a caffeine IV. I can’t wait for our next date night at the Olive Garden because it’s going to be my turn to pick! ❤

What is your favorite Middle Class Fancy restaurant? What was the last movie you saw in theaters? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy Anniversary To Us!

Happy Anniversary To Us!

Hello!! Today is a fantastic, wonderful day because it is mine and Johnny’s second wedding anniversary! When we set our wedding date, we decided to make a week long celebration better known as our birthaversary. Johnny’s birthday is on the first, our wedding anniversary is the fourth, and my birthday is on the seventh. Other than Halloween, it is the happiest time of the year!

Last year, we had a big housewarming/birthaversary party to ring in our move to a bigger apartment and it was a hoot. This year will definitely be more low-key and that is A-okay with us. These past few months have been nuts and we have something to keep us occupied all weekend long – the release of Diablo IV! We have been looking forward to it for so long and it is, honestly, the best gift we could have! 😀

After getting married, the resounding question that Johnny and I were asked was if anything felt different. We always said no because it didn’t! Married or not, we are still the exact same goofy, fun loving couple and we love each other with the heat of a thousand suns lol. But, we are both so very happy to be married and it was the best day ever:

Miller-64Miller-69Miller-205

^^^ Lol

Despite mine and Johnny’s big personalities, we had a very small wedding ceremony with our closest friends and family and it was perfect. From our all black attire to the fact that I walked down the aisle to the Family Matters theme song, our little wedding was one million percent us and I wouldn’t trade one part of it for the world. We look back on this day with so much fondness and still laugh about when our ordained minister bestie described our relationship as a “fresh of breath air”. We also have a laugh attack every time we think about the young drunk stranger who insisted we shotgunned Trulys together while we walked to our hotel. I mean… you’re not going to not! 😀

Mine and Johnny’s wedding anniversary falls very shortly after my parents’ who just celebrated their 42nd anniversary. In forty-two years, Johnny and I will still be the most emo, amazing couple around and I can’t wait for every day of the rest of our lives. ❤

Are you celebrating a special occasion soon? Are there any other Diablo fans in the house? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy Birthday, Husband!!!!

Hello!!! Today is a fantastic, wonderful day because it is my sweet husband, Johnny’s, birthday!!! Today rings in the beginning of our birthaversary, as our two year wedding anniversary is on the fourth and my birthday is on the seventh. I can’t wait to celebrate!! Johnny is my darling, angel, love of my life and he is the absolute best husband, uncle, and bunny dad in the world. No matter what we do together, we always have SO much fun. Johnny isn’t just my husband, but my AI ride or die bestie too! ❤

bug1bug2bug3

Mine and Johnny’s first date almost four years ago was truly love at first sight and we have been inseparable ever since. It was most definitely a whirlwind romance and we are still going stronger than ever all of these years later. Johnny is the most funny, kind, talented, smart, hardworking man and he makes me so proud every day. His endless love and support have gotten me through some really hard times these past few months and he knows how to make me smile even when I don’t feel like it.

Being with Johnny is so easy and we spend ninety-nine percent of our time laughing! We genuinely enjoy each other’s company and it is such an effortless relationship. And to think, I swore off of dating the week before Johnny asked me out. We were both unknowingly crushing on each other on Facebook so I wasn’t about to say no! Our first date was, hands down, the best date of my life and every day since has been the best too. I just love him more than words can say. ❤

Happy birthday to my Johnny, who has made me the happiest gal in the world. Here’s to many, many more birthaversaries together! I love you!!!!!!

Summertime Activity Goals

Summertime Activity Goals

Hello! The weather in the good ol’ AK-Rowdy has been friggen abysmal and my life is in shambles lol and, for once, I find myself wishing for an extra dose of Vitamin D. Shocking, I know, since we all know that Johnny and I all but melt in the sun! Although the days are gloomy, it helps perk me up to think of activities that I would love to do this summer. I might not get to do everything I have in mind, but I know I can easily do at least a few of the following:

Hit the pool:

One of the best things about living in Timber Top, despite numerous fiascos this past year, is the outdoor pool! We actually have a really nice pool with a deep area, a children’s area, waterfall, and upper deck mini pool that I genuinely don’t understand why it’s not a hot tub! I always say that once the pool opens, I will go spend an hour or two swimming or lounging after work and I’m usually too tired by the time I get home to commit. This is not going to slide this summer, however, because this is one of the easiest things on my list; the pool is only a two minute drive away! If you don’t have a local swimming pool, then consider adding one to your property. They’re easier to maintain than you might think, especially if you use a pool cleaning service. There’s nothing like taking a summertime dip in your own yard.

Botanical gardens:

I would absolutely love to go to the botanical gardens in Cleveland or Mansfield with Johnny as a date day. I have never been to the one in Cleveland, but I adored a family trip to the Kingwood Center Gardens in Mansfield with my family a few years ago. It was so much fun to explore the grounds and bask in the glory of the flowers and landscaping. And, we all know that botanical gardens make a perfect backdrop for OOTDs! This summer, I think the one in Cleveland will be the move and maybe Johnny and I could have dinner at Pepper’s, my favorite restaurant afterwards. 🙂

Play, play, play:

My sweet niece, Val Gal, is a constantly on the move four year old and she keeps me young! I cannot wait for warm days spent in my parents’ beautiful backyard running around with Val, blowing bubbles, drawing with chalk, and searching for bunnies. Speaking of bunnies, I very much would like to get a playpen with a cover on top so Melvin and Penelope can experience being on the grass. I know Val would get a huge kick out of that and it would be a great learning experience for her. This past week, she proudly showed me a book about caring for bunnies that she got from the library because she desperately wants one of her own. My angel! ❤

Outdoor events:

There are always so many awesome events happening in my general vicinity that I always say that I want to go to, check “interested in” on Facebook, and never attend. This summer, I would like to go to at least one or two, whether it be a farmer’s market, food truck festival, or outdoor concerts and classes. Johnny and I have already been talking about going to a few baseball games for Akron’s minor league team, the RubberDucks (dumb name, I know!), and I can practically taste the Dippin’ Dots as I type this! 😀

Watercolor painting:

It has been a while since I painted watercolor due to lack of time and I miss it terribly! Like going to the pool, this is also a no excuse activity that I know I can accomplish. I would like to set up my supplies in my parents’ backyard and paint the many gorgeous flowers my dad tends to. I can picture sitting on the deck right now, painting, and sipping iced tea with my mom and it would, truly, be the best afternoon ever. ❤

Weekend trip:

A weekend trip might be a bit difficult due to the current craziness in my life, but it needs to be added to this list anyway because it’s something Johnny and I want to do so badly! I would really like to get a cabin in Hocking Hills for a long weekend to hike, relax, and soak in a hot tub. It would be so nice to have a little getaway together, as we haven’t even been on our honeymoon! Although Hocking Hills isn’t Europe, it’s still as good a place as any to start our travels together.

I have grand plans for this summer, and I hope to accomplish at least a few of the activities on this list. It will take a bit of motivation on my part to shake off my general exhaustion, but I know that having fun is sometimes the best medicine of all!

What are your summertime activity goals? What is your favorite warm weather activity? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Are You Ready To Rumble?!

Are You Ready To Rumble?!

Hello! After years of himming and hawing, Johnny and I finally took the plunge and invested in the Peacock streaming service. We have been pretty impressed with their selection of scary movies and documentaries but, of course, the huge perk is binging The Office and Parks & Recreation for the millionth time! When we first got Peacock, we started noticing lots of commercials for wrestling events, primarily the Royal Rumble, and we became nothing short of intrigued. So much so that we invited our bestie, Cliff, over to watch it.

Within minutes of our first Royal Rumble viewing, we were hooked. We knew it was going to be a good time because we’re the three best friends that anybody could have, but we weren’t expecting this! It was the funniest, most ridiculous thing on planet Earth and watching big beefy men in Speedos trash talking is all we needed to turn us into wrestling super fans. Thanks to Peacock, we have access to over thirty years worth of Royal Rumbles and it has become our tradition to watch one almost every Saturday night.

Johnny and Cliff are my best boys and I look forward to our Saturday night dose of wrestling all week. We try to DoorDash something different every week for dinner, Cliff insists on making specialty Royal Rumble cocktails, and we settle in on the couch and have a ball. Normally, I can’t stand commercials on a streaming service but I am very grateful in this case. I don’t think we ever would have started our weekly tradition without it!

image_6487327(18)image_6487327(19)

Johnny and Cliff have been hard at work creating a new podcast (It’s awesome!) and I’m always touched that they take time out of their preparations to hang out and include little old me. Before our viewing of an early Royal Rumble this past weekend, they entrusted me to take promo shots for their podcast. They turned out EXCELLENT, if I do say so myself! While I can’t tell you the name of their show, I can say that it is airplane themed, which you probably figured out due to the pilot hats. My boys insisted that I wore one too because I’m part of their team and my heart melted. ❤

Johnny and Cliff have been best friends since kindergarten and nothing has changed in almost three decades. Ever since Johnny and I started dating, I have been welcomed with open arms into their hang outs and tom foolery and it means the world. As silly as it sounds, the Royal Rumble is now very special to me because it gave us our first BFF tradition all together. Bring on the Royal Rumble tonight, baby!!

Who else is a wrestling fan? What are some traditions you have with your besties? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Husband’s Shirt Alert OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Husband’s Shirt Alert OOTD! When Johnny takes my pictures, he shoots in rapid succession and leaves me with hundreds of pictures to sort through. This is both a blessing and a curse because god knows I love having twenty of one picture that all look the same, but my memory on my phone fills up rather quickly! This is exactly what happened while taking these pictures and there is nothing worse than hearing Johnny say that I am out of memory.

My sweet angel husband assumed we were done with pictures after this mishap and headed inside. Meanwhile, I stayed out and did a quick mass delete session. Once memory was available, my darling Johnny came back out and took up his role as photographer again. These bloopers of me looking my absolute best go out to him, as they wouldn’t be possible without the most wonderful blog husband on planet Earth!

Lol, this is the very first picture that Johnny took so obviously this photo shoot was gonna be full of winners

I’m doing it!! I’m doing it!!!

This is the face of a champion! GREAT SUCCESS!

GIVE ME BACK MY PHOOOOOOONE

image_50430977(3)

My intention with the blooper posts from OOTD shoots is for people to gain insight into the process and, of course, have some fun. It’s so easy to think that influencers and content creators snap one picture and BOOM it’s absolutely perfect. However, that’s just not true lol and the very first picture that Johnny took is a testament to that. Not every pose is going to work, either, and that’s fine. Chances were slim that we were going to get an amazing toe standing shot, but at least I tried – and that’s what’s important!

I love being in front of the camera and having my picture taken in outfits that make me feel good makes me feel good. I am lucky because my husband takes my pictures and he gives me the confidence to try different poses or expressions and not take it too seriously. This is also my best piece of advice for when you’re taking pictures of your own. Getting your picture taken is only as fun as you make it so throw caution to the wind and go for it. Attempting to get a perfect shot with every frame is only going to make you look stiff and stressed. Don’t be afraid of the bloopers – embrace them! The magic happens when you are in the moment and fully enjoying yourself. That is when you will find the sweet spot where all of the pictures are uniquely and beautifully you. ❤

Huge shout out to my blog husband, Johnny, for making me laugh, taking my pictures, and letting me wear his clothes! lifewithlilred would be nothing without you!

Would you consider yourself to be camera shy? What do and don’t you like about having your picture taken? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Husband’s Shirt Alert OOTD

Husband’s Shirt Alert OOTD

Hello! One of the best things about being married to Johnny other than EVERYTHING is his wardrobe! Even before we started dating, I had admired Johnny’s personal style from afar on Facebook. He is, easily, one of the most well dressed men that I have ever met and it’s fun to be married to someone who feels equally as strongly about fashion as I do. Whenever I am feeling uninspired by my closet for OOTDs, I turn to Johnny’s and play dress up. Which is exactly how I came up with this look:

image_50449409(7)image_50438657(1)image_50744321(2)image_50434817(5)image_50434817(4)image_50415617(6)

Who? What? Wear?

Button Down Shirt: This is Johnny’s and it’s from Straight To Hell

Skinny Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters

Hardware Loafers: Chase + Chloe, Forever 21

Heart Earrings: SugarFix by BaubleBar, Target

Snake Cuffs: The blue one is from the Akron Zoo and the pink one is by Betsey Johnson

Cross Bracelet Ring: This is as old as the hills and it’s from Claire’s

On Saturday, Johnny and I had a pretty busy day with lots of errands and driving. Normally, I don’t dress for comfort and would wear anything in the name of fashion. However, I wasn’t too keen on driving to our destinations, getting in and out of the car, and walking around in a super busy outfit. And, if we’re all being honest with each other, I just didn’t feel like putting in the effort lol so I wanted to go for a simple and stylish look.

My goal for the new year has been creating as many OOTDs as I can and Johnny and I have been almost one hundred percent faithful to our Saturday photo shoots. After close to ten weeks of shopping exclusively in my closet, I was bored with literally everything! I vetoed so many outfit ideas and just when I was about to throw my hands up and grab a hoodie, I remembered that I had another wardrobe to browse through and headed to Johnny’s Closet; my favorite boutique!

For our outing, I knew that we would be experiencing a nice, warm day and headed straight to the short sleeve button down department. While Johnny is partial to the long sleeved button downs from Phix, he loves the short sleeve ones from Straight To Hell the best. He has several in a variety of different patterns and I have always wanted to wear the skull and sexy lady shirt. So I did!

With a shirt finally figured out, building the rest of the look was so easy from there and I returned to my own belongings to finish up. Although we have had teases of spring temperatures, it is still not warm enough for anything but jeans so that was an out of my hands decision. I am SO looking forward to shorts, skirts, and dresses weather! Now, it was time to accessorize.

For shoes, I chose my Chase + Chloe mini heeled loafers that are decked out in spikes and studs. I love how they popped against the minimal palette and the white on bottom seemed to make the pattern of the top even more striking. In the jewelry department, I was able to be a bit more carefree about it because anything would have worked against the neutral outfit base. I selected dangly heart earrings for some movement and it was a welcome burst of color around my face.

When it comes to other pieces of jewelry and several of my tattoos are visible, I tend to go either way. Sometimes, I let my tattoos do the talking and keep other accessories to a minimum. However, this OOTD needed a little something more so I put on three bracelets to spice things up. Even though the cross ring bracelet is old as dirt, it is one of my favorites because it is so unique and I wish that I could find more like it. Then, I added my two bedazzled snake cuffs on my upper arms for some bling and a touch of sweetness to the edgy pattern of the top.

After dragging my feet for something to wear, this Husband’s Shirt Alert OOTD came together in under ten minutes. It was cool, comfy and a perfect look for an errand filled afternoon. This outfit can be very easily recreated so try it out for yourself and keep it posted for the blooper reel tomorrow!

Do you wear your partner’s clothes? Whose personal style do you admire? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Post V-Day Sweetness

Post V-Day Sweetness

Hello! Johnny and I went to see Hadestown at Playhouse Square as our main Valentine’s Day event and had the best time! We still listen to the soundtrack basically every day and it has been playing on a constant loop in our heads since the show. Prior to going to the theater, mine and Johnny’s dinner plans got sidetracked and he felt so bad that I barely ate at the restaurant we went to. In my defense, the food wasn’t good at all lol and I told him I didn’t want anything else for Valentine’s Day. Of course, Johnny didn’t listen!

Last week, he ordered a DVD of the NBC live taping of Jesus Christ Superstar just for me. Well, actually it might have been more for him since Alice Cooper played King Herod! But I digress. Jesus Christ Superstar is my all time favorite musical and we saw it last year at Playhouse Square for our Valentine’s Day date. Several years ago, I was so stoked that NBC was going to do a live taping for Easter and very much enjoyed the production. However, I haven’t seen it since it aired on TV. So, needless to say, I flipped my shit when he gave me my part two gift.

This past Saturday, Johnny and I DoorDashed some dinner and watched the DVD together for an at home date night and it was a blast. My heart simply exploded over the fact that Johnny was singing along to the lyrics with me when I had to damn near beg him to watch the original film with me when we first started dating! It was fun to compare and contrast the Playhouse Square show to the live taping and it was the cutest thing to hear Johnny deem production decisions as a “good choice”. Lol, he’s turning into a theater nerd just like his old ball and chain! ❤

The Post V-Day Sweetness didn’t end after our viewing of JCSS because we also had company over that night. Me, Johnny, and our bestie, Cliff, have become obsessed with Saturday night wrestling purely for shits and gigs. It has now become a weekend tradition and we couldn’t wait for the cage match event. When I saw Cliff prior to Valentine’s Day, I jokingly told him and Johnny that I expected chocolate from each of them. I didn’t expect Cliff to take me seriously in the slightest and he presented me with this:

image_50424577(3)

Apparently, Cliff was running errands and saw a Red box of chocolates and couldn’t not get it for me! Cliff is one of the kindest people that I have ever met and he is so thoughtful. Like me, he is constantly storing away gift ideas and when I said I wanted chocolate even as a joke, he took note. Cliff has been Johnny’s best friend since kindergarten and it really touches me whenever he thinks about me for a gift giving occasion too!

I spent Saturday evening being spoiled by my two best guys and I feel so lucky to have had not one but two Valentine’s Day celebrations. Here’s to many more and all of the Saturday night wrestling!

How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day? How do you like to spoil your friends? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Planning The Perfect Date Night

Standard
Planning The Perfect Date Night

No matter how long you’ve been together, date night is always important. It’s a time to reconnect and remind yourselves why you fell in love in the first place. Whether you are planning a Friday night on the town or are thinking ahead to Valentine’s Day, here are a few tips to achieve ultimate date night success:

Decide on a Date:

Choosing the right date for a romantic night out is an important step in planning the perfect evening. It’s essential to pick a day and time that works best for both partners. Consider your work schedules and personal commitments when deciding on a date, as well as any special occasions or anniversaries that you might want to celebrate on this night.

It’s also important to think about the season when choosing a date. Spring and summer are ideal times for outdoor activities like picnics or walks in the park, while winter weather makes cozy dinners at home or at restaurants with outdoor heaters more appealing. Plus, certain holidays may offer unique opportunities for fun activities like sledding in December, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with Irish cuisine and drinks, or spooktacular fun come Halloween. Escape rooms make for a memorable and interactive date night and you can find ones that fit the Halloween vibe when entering a search for “scary Los Angeles escape rooms” (or your local area). It will be a blast to put your brains to the test together!

Another factor to keep in mind when deciding on a date is budgeting. Going out for expensive meals every week might not be feasible for everyone, so look into different cost-effective options too. For example, a quaint brunch at VQ Bloomsbury (or a similar spot in your local area) would be far less expensive than a big dinner out. You could order takeout and have it delivered right to your doorstep, visit free museums or parks, or even host a game night at home with your own board game collection!

Pick a Place:

Once you’ve decided on the date and time for your night out, it’s time to think about where you’d like to go. If you’re going out to eat, pick a restaurant such as the Cathedral Bistro that both partners can enjoy. It might be helpful to look into local restaurants with reviews or recommendations from friends. The last thing you want is a bad experience on a night out! You can also make a search for lists like the “best restaurants in central pa” on Google to find a perfect date night spot. For activities away from home, consider what you two would be interested in doing together – from bowling alleys and movie theaters, to museums and art galleries, there are plenty of unique options available.

If you decide on staying home instead, there are lots of ways to create a romantic atmosphere at home. Make an effort to decorate the living space with candles or fresh flowers. A gorgeous bouquet is such a sweet date night gesture and will always be appreciated. Check out Singapore Florist at https://www.singaporeflorist.com.sg/ (or your local area) to get inspired by arrangements and colors that your partner would love. Then, put on some relaxing music as a backdrop, cook a special meal together, or watch a classic romantic movie and eat lots of chocolate. 😀

Have Fun:

No matter what you decide to do on your date night, the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy each other’s company. Share stories and jokes, talk about old memories, plan for future events…the possibilities are endless! Date night is all about making time for one another and showing that you care; and that doesn’t require spending lots of money or going out to fancy restaurants. The best part of planning the perfect date night is that it can be whatever you want to make it perfect for you. Get creative and have some fun with it!

The key to having a successful date night is to make a plan and have a blast for a #relationshipgoals worthy time!
