Heyyyy everyone! So not only do I have some figure skating dresses up for grabs as you saw in my last post “Just So You Know” but I also have some of my second hand clothes for sale as well. Usually I take all of my clothes that I no longer wear to Plato’s Closet and the Goodwill…which should have been the case with the items that I’m about to show you – but they really are fabulous and I didn’t want them going to just anyone. Take a look at these fun pieces, and if you’re interested please email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com so we can discuss pricing and I can send you more detailed pictures if you would like!

Thrift Shop Fun At Blue!

Thrift Shop Fun At Blue!

Helloooo everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all of the beautiful mamacitas out there!! In one of the local newspapers that gets delivered to my house there was an article recently about Blue, a Goodwill “boutique” in downtown Kent, Ohio. The article mentioned that Blue only carried new and next to new name brand clothing such as Banana Republic, Nine West, Doc Martin, and Guess to name a few. Naturally after reading the article about the Goodwill company’s attempt at a more high end thrifting experience, my mom and I decided that we would love to go on a shopping trip and look around. Yesterday evening we got into the mom-mobile and made our way to Kent to pop some tags at the thrift shop. It took a stop at the gas station for directions to find Blue, because we were driving around aimlessly with no luck for about ten minutes but thankfully we found it after some much needed help from the sweet employee – and let me tell you, I’m so glad we did! Blue Boutique was tucked away in the heart of downtown Kent, and walking into it seriously felt like walking into any other store in the area. It felt clean and crisp, it was well decorated, and most importantly there was an amazing selection of clothes and accessories to look through. When I read the newspaper article about Blue, I felt pretty ambivalent about the shop being described as a boutique, but after taking a quick scan of the store, that’s truly what it was. It had amazing full wall murals of The Beatles, comfy ottomans, vintage-esque mirrors placed strategically throughout the store, cute little knickknacks showcased on table displays, and fun music playing on the speakers. While exploring the boutique and searching through the clothing racks, I was amazed at how “un-Goodwill” the store felt. Blue was so spacious, unlike a normal Goodwill where all of the clothes are jam packed together in endless aisles and clothing racks. But most importantly, the clothing at Blue really didn’t feel like it was second hand. You know how when you go thrifting you can almost always tell that the clothing you’re shopping through has been really worn, is stained, or has an unpleasant odor? Blue was nothing like that. The clothing felt brand new (some of them still had the original tags on it), there were no visible stains, and none of the clothes had a distinctive smell to it. Don’t get me wrong, I love thrifting as much as the next hipster, but it was nice to be in a Goodwill environment that felt like I was in a high end boutique. While chatting with one of the employees, she told me that Blue is very picky about the clothing that they take into their store, and I have the purchases to prove it! Take a look at my fabulous new finds:

IMG_3291[1]IMG_3295[1]

Here’s the usual breakdown of my “new” second hand jackets from Blue:

  • Lace blazer: Esley, purchased for $15
  • Emerald green peacoat: Nine West, purchased for $15

Love, love, love! My Esley blazer actually still has the original tags on it, and I’m seriously so thrilled about finding this little beauty! I’ve been in need of a sharp new blazer for ages now, and I finally found one. This little lace number fits like a glove and is a fresh, edgy take on a staple piece. I plan on wearing it to my brother’s graduation this upcoming weekend. And please don’t even get me started on my Nine West peacoat! I’m seriously so obsessed with this coat it isn’t even funny. For one, emerald green is my absolute favorite color to wear. For two, minus the too long sleeves that my mom is hemming, the coat fits perfectly. For three, a Nine West number for fifteen dollars?! Yes, please! And most importantly, for four, this beautiful peacoat reminds me and my family of my beloved late grandma. Every thing about this coat from the color to the classic shape just screams “Grandma Rita” – the most gorgeous, classic Hollywood woman in the entire world. When an item invokes that type of emotion on you, you just have to bite the bullet and make the purchase, and I’m beyond excited to welcome such a timeless piece into my wardrobe.

hey girl

Thanks, Ryan. ^^^

I’LL WEAR YOUR GRANDDAD’S CLOTHES. I LOOK INCREDIBLE….Oh…you’re back already?…Uhmm…Hey. 😉

I hope all of you guys have a lovely Sunday and a terrific Mother’s Day! What was one of your best thrift store finds? Is there a Blue-like boutique in your neck of the woods that you shop at? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

An Open Letter To My Black Skinny Jeans

An Open Letter To My Black Skinny Jeans

Heyy everyone and happy Saturday! So as you guys know (because I’ve mentioned it over five million times), I only wear black skinny jeans. No blue denim, no other color – just black on black on black. And as you guys also know, I love my H&M black skinnies more than almost anything. So this post is me sending a quick letter of gratitude to my beloved skinny jeans for all of the good that they do and all of the happiness that they bring me. ❤

Dear H&M Black Skinnies,

First off, let me just tell you how much I love you. The day that I bought you at H&M was one of the best days of my life. I’ll never forget the feeling of pure euphoria I felt when I saw you hanging up in all of your midnight black glory. You were SO skinny, SO black, and don’t even get me started on your amazing details like your zippered ankles and quilted knees. It was truly love at first sight. When I tried you on in the fitting room and you slid on like a glove, I knew that we were in for a lifetime of fashion friendship. Thank you for always being there for me – whether that be to make me feel a bit less shitty on a roll out of bed day or to make me feel fierce and fabulous on my days of being a total bad ass. Thank you for making my legs and ass look awesome and thank you for looking amazing with literally every shoe in my gigantic collection…heels, wedges, Nike’s, combat boots, knee high boots, flats, and don’t even get me started on booties! Hot damn! Not only do you look great with all of my shoes – but you literally look terrific with every single shirt and jacket in my vast wardrobe…Tanks, T’s, cardis, blazers, pea coats, trench coats, flowy shirts, tight tops, crops – you compliment them all and that makes my heart feel very warm. 😉 Major shout out to you for not making me look fat, because I’m totally convinced that all bottoms in any other color makes me look like a heifer. And most importantly – thanks for not even feeling like denim, which I’m not entirely sure that you are. You’re sleek, sharp, coated, and the material definitely doesn’t have the feel of blue jean denim which I hate with a passion. I’m not exaggerating when I say that feeling you on my skin is far better than the touch of any asshole man. Men come and go, but a perfect pair of skinnies lasts forever!!! You are perfection, and I’m so happy that you’re all mine.

I LOVE YOU!!!!!

IMG_3277[1]IMG_3281[1]

^^^ THEY’RE SO BEAUTIFUL!!! :’) I wear these little babies more often than I care to admit and I’m one hundred and fifty percent okay with it!

Is there a piece of clothing or a shoe in your wardrobe that you love just as much as I love my skinnies? Where did you buy them from? What makes you love them like crazy? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Have a great day! -Sarah

Ohio Weather Update: Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot Edition!

Heyyyy everyone! So as you can see by my featured image, it’s super hot in good ol’ CFalls, Ohio right now. It’s our first summer like day of the year, so what better way to celebrate than by having a little Popsicle party?! Take a look:

IMG_3181[1]IMG_3227[1]

My mom got these super delicious jelly bean flavored Popsicles from the grocery store and I’m pretty obsessed. My sweet treat didn’t last too long in the eighty-six degree heat, however! About two minutes after this picture was taken it started melting like crazy! This little impromptu photo shoot was fun and as usual, here’s the break down of each item that I’m wearing in my OOTD!

  • Bad Ass tank: PacSun, Volcom
  • Shorts: Kohl’s, So
  • Wedges: Kohl’s, Apt. 9
  • Daisy aviators: PacSun

And in case you were wondering about the black lace poking out from beneath my tank top, that’s actually my bra not a bandeau, and it was purchased from Victoria’s Secret!

I’m very excited that it’s finally nice and warm in my neck of the woods, but I’m hoping it cools down just a little! My ideal temperature would be in the high 60’s or low 70’s. When it gets really hot out, I can literally feel my pale skin melting off…Now I know how my cherry Popsicle felt in the heat today! The lovely sunny weather that Ohio has coming up officially means that summer and most importantly my birthday (ha!) are on its way – and this lil lady is freaking pumped!

I hope the weather is terrific where ever you guys are at right now. Is it warm? Chilly? Just right? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Here’s the sizes, brand, and where I purchased each of these items:

  • Blazer with elbow patches: Small. The brand name is unfortunately not listed on the inner tag of the item, but I purchased it at Francesca’s. (For those of you who don’t know, that’s a sweet little boutique in the mall that I live by. Think ModCloth clothing (ish) but for better prices.)
  • Metallic bottomed skinny jeans: 28R. I got these at the Gap, however I only wear black skinny jeans now!
  • Tiger decal high waisted jeans: USA size 5, UK size 9. These jeans are Insight brand and they were an online exclusive on http://www.PacSun.com. I love these jeans too much, however they don’t fit me the greatest because they’re high waisted and as I mentioned above – I only wear black jeans now!

I wouldn’t be offering all of you lovely readers these pieces to purchase if they weren’t in completely perfect condition. I’ve only worn all of these items less than five times each and they really are so freaking cute! If you or anyone you know is interested, you can email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com so we can discuss prices and whatnot! Much love. -Sarah

Just So You Know

Just So You Know

Heyy everyone and happy Thursday! So I don’t know if you guys were aware, but I was a competitive figure skater for ten or so years when I was younger. I have a lot of competition dresses just hanging out in my closet doing nothing, so if you or someone you know is in need of some new skating gear, please send them my way! I couldn’t figure out how to open a WordPress shop, but my email is in my about me section on my blog and is also listed below, so if you reach out to me we can discuss prices and whatnot! All of the dresses are in excellent condition and if you would like I can email you more detailed pictures as well. Take a look:

IMG_2891[1]IMG_2893[1]IMG_2894[1]IMG_2895[1]IMG_2897[1]IMG_2898[1]

Here are the sizes of each item:

  • Green dress #1: Petite
  • Green dress #2: Medium
  • Black dress: I could imagine that this dress is a medium. It was a fixer upper dress that one of the skating moms hand made so there isn’t an exact size. I began decorating the dress with burnt orange Swarovski crystals, and I have an abundance of them which I would send along with the dress.
  • Sparkle skirt: Child Large
  • Matching sparkle leotard: Adult Small

skating

^^^ How did that get in here?!

Like I said, all of these dresses are in great condition, as they were only used for competition ware. I never practiced in them. If I had any use for them, of course I would keep them – but alas, I haven’t competed in over four years!

If you are interested in any or all of these, you can email me at sarah.mush6794@gmail.com! And if you know of any lovely skater girls who are in need of new dresses, please pass this on to them as well! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: Shoes, Shoes Shoes Edition!

Monday Update: Shoes, Shoes Shoes Edition!

Helloooo everyone and welcome to my Monday Update: Shoes, Shoes, Shoes Edition! My mom and I had a fabulous afternoon of shopping at Kohl’s yesterday and I made out like a bandit in the markdown shoes department. Take a look at my three new beauties that I got for an amazing price:

IMG_2864[1]

^^^ So gorgeous, right? Before I discuss the experience, here’s the usual break down of each shoe and the brand. I also will be including the original and markdown prices as well!

  • Black wedges: Kohl’s, Apt. 9 (Originally $64.99, marked down to $18 and some change)
  • White lace up wedges: Kohl’s, Juicy Couture (Originally $74.99, marked down to $50)
  • Mushroom grey wedges: Kohl’s, Juicy Couture (Originally $74.99, marked down to $19 and some change)

For three amazing pairs of shoes I paid about $90 and saved a total of over $100…if that’s not ballin on a budget then I don’t know what is!

When my mom asked me to go to Kohl’s with her I really had no intention of buying anything – but lo and behold, I ended up having multiple shoegasms that resulted in my ever growing shoe collection to expand once again. Kohl’s always has amazing winter markdowns, especially in the shoe department. In fact, some of my favorite shoes have came from the end of winter sales, including my beloved Vera Wang wedges and a really amazing pair of lace up espadrille wedges. So needless to say, I’m not surprised with how lucky I got in the shoe section yesterday. By the time I got to the shoesies, I already had an armful of clothes that I planned on trying after I breezed through the shoes. But I shouldn’t have lied to myself, because with Lil Red there’s no such thing as “breezing through” the shoe department. AS IF. As soon as I got to the shoe section my eyes fell on my beautiful new lace up Juicy heels and I knew that they had to be mine. My armful of clothes was no longer of importance, because I was in shoe territory now and the only thing that mattered was getting those pretty babies on my feet ASAP. It was seriously love at first sight and I feel even deeper into my affection once I took my first steps in them. They were perfect. I was in love, and when my mom showed up to take a look at my finds, so was she. While strutting about the shoe section in my latest obsession, I happened to notice the green/grey Juicy wedges which made my heart beat a little faster when I laid eyes on them. I grabbed my size and when I looked at the price I almost had an aneurism! Nineteen dollars?! Yes, please. In all reality, I didn’t even have to try these shoes on because I knew I was going to purchase them. They were adorable and you’re not going to NOT buy a pair of Juicy wedges for under twenty bucks! I modeled them for the full length mirror and my mama anyways, and while I took my usual stroll around the shoe department once more to test the waters of the wicker basket detailed wedges I locked eyes on one more fabulous find…the black zip up Apt. 9 wedges for EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. I basically shoegasmed everywhere. Once again, I snatched up my size and returned back to my mom and try on bench for the last time. My mom is such an amazing sport – every new shoe that I showed up with she rolled her eyes and said something along the lines of “it must be hard having everything look good on you” or “Sarah, you’re the only one who could pull those off…other than the designers”. So sweet! My Apt. 9 wedges were no exception, because as soon as they were on my feet they had the mama and Sarah stamp of approval…who could ask for anything more?!

Annnnd in case you were wondering, here’s a picture of my shirt that I got at The Used concert on Saturday night!

Happy Early Birthday To Meeeee!

Heyyyy everyone! I hope all of you had a fabulous and relaxing weekend! As you can see by my featured image, I got a new purse for my over a month early birthday gift! I’m SO in love with my new Betsey Johnson bag it’s ridiculous. As soon as I saw this little baby in Macy’s I knew it had to be mine, so I immediately notified my mom so she would know exactly what to get me for my 21st birthday in June. One major character flaw on my part is that I’m one of the most impatient people in the world, so of course I couldn’t wait another month until I turn the big 2-1 to receive my gift! Thankfully my mom understands the needs of her impatient, drama queen child because she got it for me this weekend! 🙂 The super fun thing about this purse is that the removable, old school phone handle has a cord and a jack attached to it so you can hook it up to your cell phone and talk on it. SO CUTE! I love everything and anything Betsey Johnson and I can’t wait to break out my pretty new baby this week! I took some adorable Chatty Kathy pictures today with the newest addition to my collection, so make sure you take a look:

IMG_2705[1]IMG_2689[1]IMG_2687[1]IMG_2704[1]IMG_2608[1]IMG_2606[1]

^^^Please excuse my super messy bedroom! Annnd in case you were wondering the brand and where I purchased my dress and heels, here’s the usual break down for ya:

  • Cutout dress: TJMaxx, I actually don’t know the brand for this one because the tag was itchy so I cut it off. Whoops!
  • Glitter back wedges: Plato’s Closet, Arizona Jean Co.
  • Telephone purse: Macy’s, Betsey Johnson

HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!! Have a great rest of your Sunday and make sure you continue to tune in at http://www.lifewithlilred.com for the latest and greatest! What was your favorite birthday gift ever? Are you as impatient as I am when it comes to your birthday? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Forgetful Me!

Guyyyyyyys, seriously? You let me forget some of the stuff that I was gonna talk about in my Lil Red’s Spring Obsessions post?! Thanks a lot! -___- Kidding of course, but for real I’m so annoyed at myself for forgetting to mention my latest jewelry obsession! *Drum roll pleeeease* ……………

…..BODY CHAINS! Yes, yes, yes I love them! I found my new beauties when I went with my sister to get her ears repierced at Claire’s. Kristen is the queen of piercing her own ears, it’s actually really amazing. I remember walking in the bathroom and seeing her stick a needle through her ears like it was nothing. Unfortunately, miss thang came to the realization that almost every hole she poked was totally uneven so she decided to let them close up and get them redone by someone who actually knows what they’re doing. I really don’t know how she does it. I’ve gotten countless extreme piercings – hips, collarbones, four nose piercings at once – but I can’t for the life of me pierce my own ears! As you can see from all of my pictures and posts of my body mods, I can clearly handle pain but I apparently can’t handle shoving a needle through my lobe…go figure. ANYWAYS, I’ve been looking for some cool body chains for forever, and I was soooo excited when I saw that Claire’s had a wide selection to choose from! Kristen and I got 20% off of our purchase since she got her ears pierced and the jewelry was buy two get one free on top of that, so it was quite the deal! Take a look at my new swagg (and remind me to never say that again):

chainchain1chain2

^^^^ So fun, right?!

I love these sassy and edgy new additions to my jewelry collection so much, but my one complaint is that they get tangled like NO OTHER. Seriously, one wrong move with these bad boys when you’re putting them on, taking them off, or putting them away for the day can result in a big, frustrating, knotty mess. Believe me, it’s happened to me too many times to count already. Luckily, my dad is amazing at unknotting jewelry, but in all honesty the chains are quite flimsy so a few more untangling sessions will probably result in one of them breaking – sad but true. Despite the chain challenges, these are such a cool add on to any outfit. I love wearing them with crop tops and I’m also very excited to wear them with my bikini in the summer time!! I’ve seen so many body chains online that I like, but they’re all quite expensive. The ones I purchased at Claire’s were $11.99 each, which was a steal as far as I’m concerned. So if you’re looking for some cute body chains but aren’t interested in shelling out an arm and a leg, definitely check out Claire’s in stores and online at http://www.claires.com/us/!

^^^ I had to!!!

So there you have it, a quick little add on to my Lil Red’s Spring Obsession’s post! I hope all of you are having a fabulous Hump Day evening! What are your favorite new jewelry trends? Where is your favorite place to purchase jewelry? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Goodnight! -Sarah

Lil Red’s Spring Time Obsessions

Helloooooo everyone and happy Hump Day! I’m just hanging out at Starbucks at the moment. I literally just finished writing a ten page research paper, so I figured why not write some more on the ol’ blog?! I’ve upped my spring wardrobe game and refreshed a few oldie but goodie pieces in my closet, and I must say….I’m obsessed. There’s a few pieces that I’ve been using a lot lately that I just can’t get enough of! Take a look and then we’ll discuss!

bagbag3shoesshoes2cardivestshirt3shirt1

^^^ I’m so aware that I’ve posted some of these pics before, but they’re so fab I just can’t help it! Let’s begin with talking about my featured image pic!

Daisy boob crop top (PacSun, Workshop): Much to my parents displeasure, I absolutely love this shirt. I’ve had it for close to a year now, and I’m still just as in love with it as I was the day I got it. This crop is so cheeky and fun, it really is one of my favorite spring and summer staples. The daisy frame aviators are also from PacSun, and they’ve gotten a lot of use since I purchased them as well. I wear this shirt with anything – maxi skirts, body con skirts (for when I’m feeling super sassy), jeans (only black skinnies, of course), shorts, underneath a flannel or cardigan – I love it all!

Skull tote bag (Target): My mom gifted me with this little baby years ago, and honestly I’m just now starting to use it a lot. This has been my go to spring time bag for school and in general. It’s perfect for lugging around textbooks and edging up a sun dress. As you guys well know, I love Target so very much, and this purse was a total home run. Way to go, mom! 😉

Turquoise purse (TJMaxx, Urban Expressions): I think that this all vegan leather purse is such a fab spring staple. It was only thirty five dolla holla too, hello bargain! The color is so phenomenal and I plan on changing out my skull bag to use this one very soon! My brother got the turquoise necklace seen in the picture in New Mexico, and now I’m sure you guys can guess what one of my favorite spring time colors is!

Floral print heels (Kohl’s, Elle): Ahhhh! My Barbie heels! ❤ I love these pretty babies so so SO much! Floral for spring is so cliche, I know – but these are so cute that I just can’t help it. I pair these heels with everything from my girliest girly outfits to my grungy rocker looks. I like how the colors used are muted and water color-esque, which I think is a more unique take on the usual loud and in your face florals. IE: My daisy boob crop top!

Army green heels (TJMaxx, Guess): I know for a fact that I’ve posted about these bad boys before, but they’re so nice I’ll write about them twice! These have been my go to heels this past month, and I’m so okay with it! The shape is so unique and the color is still neutral enough that it goes with everything. Usually I’m not a fan of a thick wedge heel when the shoe isn’t a full on wedge, but these are the exception. #love

Crochet Vest (PacSun, LA Hearts): This little number is an oldie but goodie and I’m still a fan. I’ve grown very fond of the concept of a vest lately, as you can see by my kimono and flannel vest that are also pictured above. I like how easy these are to just slip on and BOOM your outfit is instantly spruced up. I usually pair my crochet vest over a crop top with a maxi skirt for a cool boho look. It’s also a sweet piece to add on with a pair of shorts!

I know I’ve mentioned the last three pictures recently, but they’re seriously some of my favorite new spring purchases so I felt the need to display them again! I’m actually wearing the flannel vest right now and I feel like the queen of grunge and sassiness. Holla atcha girl. And in case you were wondering, here’s the brands and where I purchased the final three pieces:

  • Kimono vest: Target
  • Flannel vest: TJMaxx, Vanilla Star
  • Maxi shirt: TJMaxx, Gaze USA

So there you have it! Some of my favorite Spring Time obsessions! What are all of you rocking this spring? What’s your favorite new purchase? What’s your favorite oldie but goodie item in your closet? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
