Valentine’s Day Date Night OOTD

Valentine’s Day Date Night OOTD

Hello! This past weekend, Johnny and I enjoyed a wonderful Valentine’s Day date night seeing Hadestown at Playhouse Square. Dressing for the theater is one of my favorite things and Playhouse Square is, arguably, one of the fanciest places I have ever been to. This means that it is essential to show out and it is such fun to see what everyone else deems as theater appropriate at the show. For my V-Day/theater OOTD, I wanted to create an ultra sophisticated look with a few sexy surprises to keep things interesting. This is what I came up with and I felt like a star:

image_50449665(4)image_50731009(3)image_50432001(4)image_50772481(1)image_50436097(6)image_50728193

Who? What? Wear?

To begin styling this look, I started with my maxi skirt from Target. This little number is as old as the hills but it is one of my favorites and I love the slip to sheer set up. The slip cuts off at the mid thigh and the bare legs added some sex appeal without taking away from the overall romance of the skirt. While I love a sweet and cute V-Day OOTD, I wanted a “dark romance” theme for a nighttime look and this skirt as the base allowed me to accomplish it.

I wanted this skirt to read more like a dress and the obvious choice was pairing it with my cami top from French Rooster. Now, I am well aware that I use this top in many an OOTD… And I have yet to see a problem with it! There was a time when I wanted to wear all new to my viewers pieces for each OOTD post and that was fine but not necessarily true to the way I get dressed. I do have a lot of key pieces that I not only love wearing but are easy to build outfits with and the French Rooster top is one of them. Believe me, I rolled my eyes when I selected this top yet again but it’s not a bad thing. Rather, it just shows its versatility as it can compliment a multitude of different styles.

One of the best things about Playhouse Square is that after a brief walk in the parking garage, you aren’t outside at all as a connecting bridge takes you to the theater. Knowing this, I decided to throw caution to the wind and not wear a coat once the base of my outfit was settled. Yes, it was a bit cold out but there are some outfits that I just hate to cover with a coat and this was one of them. I also wanted to let my tattoos air out since they have been covered up all winter! So, all I had to do was move onto accessories.

For the shoes, I went with my pointed toe kitten heels by Nine West. Although these are not the most exciting pair that I own, I think that they are so sweet and the skirt blended effortlessly into them. The bejeweled band going across the top is also everything and added some blingy fun. These heels were the perfect height and got me at the ideal level off of the ground so that my skirt wasn’t dragging. What a faux pas that would have been, amiright?!

To complete the outfit, it was time for final touches. First, I chose my faux fur collar by St. Tropez. There is nothing like some faux fur to elevate a look for the theater. It brings the drama from the stage to the outfit and bonus points if it is in a unique color like this dusty lavender! Since the fur took up a lot of real estate near my neck and shoulders, I went for small dangly earrings to add some movement and bring attention back to my face.

There still felt like there was something missing after most of the accessories had been decided on, though. While the faux fur collar does do a fairly good job of covering things up on top, it still comes open. So, for a peekaboo surprise, I added my gold lock necklace by Michael Kors. It fell at just the right length and the flash of gold was exactly what I needed to feel fully satisfied with this OOTD!

Johnny and I have spent two Valentine’s Days at Playhouse Square and it is my new favorite tradition. Two date nights, two shows, two fabulous looks. So there for it!

How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day? What is your favorite thing to dress for? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Night At The Theater OOTD Pt. 4

A Night At The Theater OOTD Pt. 4

Hello! This past weekend, Johnny and I went on a date night to The Haunted House Restaurant and Playhouse Square for a showing of Les Miserables. We had a great time despite Les Mis being a total snooze fest lol. No matter what the occasion, I love to step out in a great outfit but it feels even more important to do so for A Night At The Theater. Going to a play or a musical is an event where everyone wants to look their best and I felt my best in this look:

image_50420225(5)image_50365185image_50399489(2)image_50434049(1)image_50429697(1)image_50413313(1)image_50440961(4)

Who? What? Wear?

When I am styling an OOTD for a theater production, I want it to be both chic and unique. Of course, I want to look sophisticated but I also don’t want to wear what everyone else has on. I think that this outfit was very successful because I felt classy AF and was sporting pieces that all had cool details to them to make the look pop. If you notice, each key component in this fit has a lovely sheen to it that only enhanced the “look at me vibes” and made me feel like a star without being on stage.

I started styling this outfit with Johnny’s blouse by Notations in mind because I am obsessed with it and never had an occasion to wear it to. As you all know, I love me some mustard yellow and jewel tones like that and the emerald green in the coat just hit different in the fall! This blouse reminds me of a sexy bowling shirt in the best way possible and I love that I can borrow my husband’s clothes! πŸ˜€

To keep going with the sheen in the top, the logical next step was a coated pair of snakeskin patterned skinnies. These jeans by Seven are one of my absolute favorites and it created such a nice, lean silhouette when paired with the blouse. When you’re creating outfits, it is so important for each piece to flow together to form a cohesive look. The shine in both the pants and top blended seamlessly and made me feel ten feet tall rather than barely 5’1. You just wouldn’t get that same effect with a plain black pair of skinnies.

A coat was a must because it has been freaking freezing in my neck of the woods. While the Nine West one is, admittedly, not the warmest, it served its purpose well in this look. I thought that the emerald green looked beautiful over top of the mustard yellow and it was fun to wear two of my favorite colors at once. This coat is such a classic piece but the striking color makes it really special. It also had some sheen to it to keep the likeness that I was working with in tact.

With the base of the outfit sorted, it was time to accessorize. You can all call me out on featuring my Forever 21 platforms in yet another OOTD but I just can’t help myself – they are the best! I love a platform boot because they offer an incredible boost in height and a fabulous touch of retro. I have several pairs in different colors but I didn’t want to introduce anything too crazy against the palette that was already created. These platforms were the way to go and the peek-a-boo of gold and red further complimented the jewel tones in the outfit.

For earrings, I chose my red heart dangly pair to tie the look together from head to toe thanks to the red in the platforms. With neck tattoos, colorful hair, and five nose piercings, I have began to shy away from dangly earrings because it can be a bit much. However, I had my hair pulled back and it gave me the perfect canvas for a longer pair of earrings since my neck was so exposed. Not to mention how freaking cute they are!

Finally, I decided to swap my Union Jack studded purse with my white Foley + Corinna one. I tend to change my purse every month or two and this was the right time for a new one. This bag is one of my favorites and the black spikes pop so well against the stark white base. I also liked how it added another color to this outfit’s palette without interference since it is a neutral. The only dislike is that it’s a bit small so I’ll constantly be having to empty out my Taco Bell receipts lol.

I had an absolute blast styling this date night at the theater look and it made me feel like a billion bucks. This OOTD also featured two pieces found at secondhand stores, which is a true testament to the power of thrifting!

What is the best thing that you have found at a thrift shop? Which events do you deem worthy to dress up for? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

PS: Keep it posted for bloopers from this OOTD tomorrow!

Feeling Fall OOTD

Standard
Feeling Fall OOTD

Howdy!! Fall is my favorite season for many reasons. I love the weather, the activities that come with it, Halloween, and the clothes! Fall fashion is the absolute best and if Ohio weather permitted it, I would be dressing for fall all year round. Today, we are going to check out an OOTD that had me Feeling Fall in nothing short of a spiritual way. Let’s get to it and be sure to tune back in tomorrow for bonus pictures from this shoot:

Who? What? Wear?

This OOTD is one of my favorite looks that I have styled in a while because I feel like it captures the fall season perfectly. The floral skirt by Originality is one of my most recent purchases and I couldn’t wait to wear it. There was no better time than on our family vacation to the Poconos to break it out and I felt so fabulous the entire day in this look. I have a feeling that I will be rewearing it a lot!

What I love the most about the Originality bodycon skirt is its versatility. As I mentioned in the New Skirt Alert post, it comes with countless styling options as you can match a top to any of the colors of the flowers for a cohesive look. I chose to pair this skirt with a Rachel Zoe tank top tucked in to make it look more like a dress. Then, I went with my Knitted Dove cardigan which paired beautifully as the cream base and burgundy accents were just right with the floral skirt.

To complete my Feeling Fall OOTD, I went with an adorable pair of Nine West Kitten Heels to add a little bling and some length. These heels were an ideal choice for the outfit because there are no straps on them to break up the leg line, making for a long and sleek silhouette. (Also this is the first time I spelled that word correctly on the first try so kudos to me lol!)

In my humble opinion, this OOTD is simply charming. From the mixing of textures and the matching of colors to the sparkly surprise on the shoes, this is an amazing look for fall. I am already looking forward to wearing it again! πŸ˜€

What is your favorite fall color? How about your favorite fall activity? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

If The Shoe Fits: Nine West Kitten Heels Edition

If The Shoe Fits: Nine West Kitten Heels Edition

Howdy and welcome to another new edition of If The Shoe Fits! Today, we are going to be talking about the most darling pair of kitten heels by Nine West. I have had my eye on these adorable mini pumps for at least a year on TJMaxx’s online store. However, every time I want to order them they never have my size. After what seemed like an eternity of sold out size sixes, I finally snagged a pair and I couldn’t be happier so take a look at some pics and let’s discuss:

DF3534C8-080E-4EC5-9AA4-02A2279534E8B797824B-B0BC-4358-BA64-C30A81C57A212977EED2-9D2C-44AB-9439-B11ABE936288C7326CC7-90F8-4E61-B30C-6EEAAD37F174

As you all know, I live for a chunky platform or wedge heel. I actually don’t care for stilettos on me so a kitten heel is the closest I will get to it! I think kitten heels are the perfect combination of sweet and sassy and these Nine Wests are a total testament to that. The sleek jet black adds the oomph while the rhinestone wrap around the ankle adds that little bit of sugar. Is that sweet and sassy or what?

I feel like these kitten heels would look amazing on anyone and they also come in a charming shade of blush pink. Easy to dress up or down, the mini pumps would look stunning with a shimmering New Year’s Eve party dress. They would also be just as flattering with a pair of skinny jeans and a sharp blazer for an evening drink with the girls… Post-COVID, of course.

I am ecstatic to finally add my Nine Wests into my always growing shoe collection because I have waited so long to order them! And, I actually only own one other pair of kitten heels so now my lonely solo pair has a companion. For forty dollars, these babies are a steal and I wouldn’t wait too long if you want to grab a pair for yourself!

What is your favorite shape for a heel? How do you take a look from day to night? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Nine West Cape Blazer

New Nine West Cape Blazer

Hello everyone and a very happy weekend to all of you! I don’t know about you but, when I get the idea of something that I want in my head, it literally takes until I get that thing for the thought to dissipate. This rings true constantly for clothing, because I want the piece that I buy to be just right. Take the cape blazer, for example. I’ve wanted one for close to two years, and I finally found the one, because every cape that I encountered leading up to the Nine West number seen below just wasn’t up to snuff. Check it out:

9west9west29west39west1

Ugh, ain’t she a beaut?! Nine West is a brand that I really, really love. But, god knows that their normal prices cost a pretty penny, so I don’t indulge unless it’s at TJMaxx or a thrift store. My new cape was forty dollars, which is ONE HUNDO cheaper than its original price. You literally can’t beat that!

I love everything about this cape. The polka dot lining, the shape, how it falls perfectly away from my hips, the styling potential. WOOF. It really is perfect and I can’t wait to wear it constantly. From a more formal take on business casual for work to exploring my favorite outdoor mall, Crocker Park, during a blustery fall day, this Nine West piece will be the jam.

Every cape blazer that I’ve tried on has paled in comparison to my latest find and, even though it was a long time coming, it was so worth the wait. The cape is such a unique piece of clothing and when you find just the right one for just the right price, it would be a shame to not get it!

Who else is a fan of the cape? How would you style this piece? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Snakeskin, Sister

Standard
Snakeskin, Sister

Hi!! Although I am not the biggest fan of animal prints when it comes to clothing and accessories, I am definitely (faux) snakeskin obsessed. Cheetah, zebra, and whatever other animal prints there are simply fall by the wayside when it comes to snakeskin. To me, snakeskin is the chicest animal print – it tends to be soft and subdued but still has the perfect amount of glam rock edge to it, which sets it apart from in your face cheetah or zebra patterns.

I have never been able to find just the right snakeskin patterned clothing, but I do have a Nine West purse and two pairs of snakeskin booties that I adore. Take a look:

9wqupidfall2

I think that the best part about snakeskin is that it really is a neutral pattern. The blacks, greys, whites, and taupes blend so effortlessly that it never overpowers the rest of your look. My snakeskin boots are usually my go to’s when I want to spice an outfit up a little while still maintaining a rocker cool vibe.

And, can we talk about one of my favorite purses of all time?! My Nine West bag was a birthday gift from a few years ago and it remains as one of my most frequently used purses. It is perfect for either work or play and is large enough to fit all of my necessities in it without being too big. Sigh, TJMaxx shoots and scores again. :*)

Whether you want a chic pattern to incorporate into your work wardrobe or something more rocker when you’re at play, snakeskin will always be the best way to go!

What is your favorite animal print? How do you incorporate snakeskin into your wardrobe? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

It’s In The Bag – Nine West Edition

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday! First of all, I want to wish a very happy birthday to my older brother, Andrew! I love you! Second of all, I want to talk to all of you about the most gorgeous purse that I added to my collection this weekend. My mom and I had a gift card from TJMaxx (shocker) so we decided to pop into the store and take a look around. I ended up with two pairs of shorts which you can see on Wednesday’s post “A Short Story” and a beautiful Nine West tote bag. Take a look:

9w

^^^ IT’S SO PRETTY!!!!

I admit that I am not an animal print fan in the slightest. I don’t do leopard, nor cheetah, zebra, or any other print that you can think of. However, I freaking LOVE snakeskin…Fake snakeskin, of course. I think that snakeskin is the most edgy, cool, and rocker chic pattern on the planet. It screams luxury mixed with rebellion and I can’t get enough. So it shouldn’t surprise you when I tell you that as soon as I laid eyes on my new beauty that it was love at first sight.

I took a tentative glance at the price tag and was astounded to see that it was only thirty dollars in contrast to the Nine West tag that was still attached and boasting a ninety dollar original price. Once I saw that the bag was reasonably priced, I plucked it from its hanger and slung it over my arm. Usually I don’t like carrying big bags but this one was different. It was made so narrowly that it didn’t look bulky but rather sleek and slinky. I loved that it fit comfortably between my arm and body and of course, the color palette was pure Lil Red perfection.

Although I was so enamored with the Nine West purse, I had a hard time justifying buying a new one since I had just recently got one from Kohl’s. For the entire shopping trip I debated on if it was worth it to bite the bullet and make the purchase. Despite how much I loved the bag, I decided that it wasn’t something that I absolutely needed. But my beloved mother wasn’t having that.

Because my birthday is right around the corner she offered it as an early birthday gift from her and I just couldn’t say no! It was just so perfect and the fact that the price of it was the exact amount of our gift card made it seem like it was meant to be. I love my new purse so much and I can’t wait to use it for work, school, and my internship. Thank you so much, mom! And happy early birthday to me! πŸ˜€

So there you have it, the latest issue of It’s In The Bag – Nine West Edition! Has anyone done some shopping recently? What has been your latest purchase? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

For me feeling comfortable = feeling confident. ✨ All of the looks that I put together are 100% something I would wear. So without further ado here’s to a great night out with the girls! πŸŽ‰
✨ Top: Loft – Black is the color I reach for time and time again. With the right accessories it transitions seamlessly from day to night.

✨ Jewelry: Forever 21 – F21 allows me to stay on trend with the latest pieces at prices that won’t break the bank. πŸ’Έ
✨ Bag: Mango – I usually don’t buy small bags since most of the time I’m lugging a truck load of stuff. But I love the detail on this bag and it doubles as a clutch! 😍
✨ Makeup – I’m clueless when it comes to makeup and I consider it a major victory if I can get the liner on both eyes to match. For this look I literally had ten minutes so I had to keep things short and sweet! ⏰

Thrift Shop Fun At Blue!

Standard
Thrift Shop Fun At Blue!

Helloooo everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all of the beautiful mamacitas out there!! In one of the local newspapers that gets delivered to my house there was an article recently about Blue, a Goodwill “boutique” in downtown Kent, Ohio. The article mentioned that Blue only carried new and next to new name brand clothing such as Banana Republic, Nine West, Doc Martin, and Guess to name a few. Naturally after reading the article about the Goodwill company’s attempt at a more high end thrifting experience, my mom and I decided that we would love to go on a shopping trip and look around. Yesterday evening we got into the mom-mobile and made our way to Kent to pop some tags at the thrift shop. It took a stop at the gas station for directions to find Blue, because we were driving around aimlessly with no luck for about ten minutes but thankfully we found it after some much needed help from the sweet employee – and let me tell you, I’m so glad we did! Blue Boutique was tucked away in the heart of downtown Kent, and walking into it seriously felt like walking into any other store in the area. It felt clean and crisp, it was well decorated, and most importantly there was an amazing selection of clothes and accessories to look through. When I read the newspaper article about Blue, I felt pretty ambivalent about the shop being described as a boutique, but after taking a quick scan of the store, that’s truly what it was. It had amazing full wall murals of The Beatles, comfy ottomans, vintage-esque mirrors placed strategically throughout the store, cute little knickknacks showcased on table displays, and fun music playing on the speakers. While exploring the boutique and searching through the clothing racks, I was amazed at how “un-Goodwill” the store felt. Blue was so spacious, unlike a normal Goodwill where all of the clothes are jam packed together in endless aisles and clothing racks. But most importantly, the clothing at Blue really didn’t feel like it was second hand. You know how when you go thrifting you can almost always tell that the clothing you’re shopping through has been really worn, is stained, or has an unpleasant odor? Blue was nothing like that. The clothing felt brand new (some of them still had the original tags on it), there were no visible stains, and none of the clothes had a distinctive smell to it. Don’t get me wrong, I love thrifting as much as the next hipster, but it was nice to be in a Goodwill environment that felt like I was in a high end boutique. While chatting with one of the employees, she told me that Blue is very picky about the clothing that they take into their store, and I have the purchases to prove it! Take a look at my fabulous new finds:

IMG_3291[1]IMG_3295[1]

Here’s the usual breakdown of my “new” second hand jackets from Blue:

  • Lace blazer: Esley, purchased for $15
  • Emerald green peacoat: Nine West, purchased for $15

Love, love, love! My Esley blazer actually still has the original tags on it, and I’m seriously so thrilled about finding this little beauty! I’ve been in need of a sharp new blazer for ages now, and I finally found one. This little lace number fits like a glove and is a fresh, edgy take on a staple piece. I plan on wearing it to my brother’s graduation this upcoming weekend. And please don’t even get me started on my Nine West peacoat! I’m seriously so obsessed with this coat it isn’t even funny. For one, emerald green is my absolute favorite color to wear. For two, minus the too long sleeves that my mom is hemming, the coat fits perfectly. For three, a Nine West number for fifteen dollars?! Yes, please! And most importantly, for four, this beautiful peacoat reminds me and my family of my beloved late grandma. Every thing about this coat from the color to the classic shape just screams “Grandma Rita” – the most gorgeous, classic Hollywood woman in the entire world. When an item invokes that type of emotion on you, you just have to bite the bullet and make the purchase, and I’m beyond excited to welcome such a timeless piece into my wardrobe.

hey girl

Thanks, Ryan. ^^^

I’LL WEAR YOUR GRANDDAD’S CLOTHES. I LOOK INCREDIBLE….Oh…you’re back already?…Uhmm…Hey. πŸ˜‰

I hope all of you guys have a lovely Sunday and a terrific Mother’s Day! What was one of your best thrift store finds? Is there a Blue-like boutique in your neck of the woods that you shop at? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
