Bath & Body Works February 2020 Freebie

Hello! I used to get hella coupons for freebies from Bath & Body Works but then got cut off when they realized I was not buying anything each time! Lol, but after a few recent hauls at B&BW, I am finally back on their mailing list and received my first coupon in ages at the beginning of February. This is great, because who doesn’t like free lotion or shower gel?! Especially when it’s champagne scented! Check it out:

It’s no secret that Lil Red loves her bubbly, so this travel sized lotion in Champagne Toast was the obvious choice. I really like this scent because of how light and fruity it smells. You can easily detect the hints of strawberries and nectarines underneath the fizzy sweet champagne bubbles. I am so glad that they went this route instead of something overly musky because that’s just a future headache waiting to happen… Which would be a hard no from me.

Champagne Toast is a lovely scent for late spring and summer time. Perfect for sharing drinks with your friends during a warm evening spent on the patio of your favorite bar, this crisp scent will have you craving all of the fruity cocktails or a filled to the brim glass of champagne!

What is your favorite drink or cocktail? What is your favorite warm weather fragrance? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Valentine’s Day Bouquet Pt. 2

Valentine’s Day Bouquet Pt. 2

Hello, everyone! I had a simply magical Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend, Johnny, and I hope that everyone had as wonderful of a day as I did… Whether it be with your spouse or a romcom and a bottle of wine! Johnny’s band, The Outside Voices, was playing a show in Marietta, Ohio on the fifteenth. So, Johnny and I decided to make a long weekend of it and drove there on Valentine’s Afternoon.

We stayed at a beautiful hotel called the Lafayette and we had a delicious dinner. Then, we went back to our room and drank champagne and watched Weird Al music videos for two hours straight. Like I said, it was simply magical.

The following day, we explored Parkersburg, West Virginia and Marietta before The Outside Voices played. Johnny and I spent the day checking out different thrift stores and boutiques and it was a complete blast. Definitely stay tuned for all of the amazing finds I scored from a trendy boutique that is in the process of going online so all of us can shop on there together! 😀

Johnny and I agreed to not go overboard with Valentine’s Day gifts and that was fine by me. Our entire weekend was the greatest gift of all and it was one of the best days of my life. But, being the sweet angel that Johnny is, he surprised me with roses and champagne and that was the cherry on top. Check it out:

vdayvday1vday2vday3

When Johnny and I celebrated our big one week (haha), he gave me one single rose and I gave him a pack of hard seltzer water. I have kept that rose in my favorite vase and put the not dead ones in there too for good measure. When will I take them out, save the petals, and clean the vase? The world may never know.

In case you haven’t noticed, I like getting flowers. I guess that stems from (Ba dum chhhhh!) the fact that I have so many vivid recollections since childhood of my dad gifting flowers to my mom. During the summer time when the flowers in our garden were in bloom, there would be a fresh bouquet on the kitchen table every weekend. And, once the flowers wilted come fall, at least once a month my dad would purchase flowers as a “splurge” from the local grocery stores.

We interrupt your normal blog viewing with a conversation that happened between Sarah and her dad two weeks ago:

Me: Dad, I like those flowers. Where did you get them?

Dad: At Aldi’s… I splurged!

We now return to our normally scheduled programming.

Anyways, I know that people always associate getting flowers with love. But, my association literally comes from seeing true love between my parents. And, that’s why a simple bouquet and a bottle of booze (!!!) was the perfect gift for me. ❤

How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day? What do you associate with love? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sweet Surprises: Valentine’s Day Bouquet Edition

Sweet Surprises: Valentine’s Day Bouquet Edition

Hi! One of my clients, a freshly turned sixty year old with Down Syndrome has a love for all holidays. He revels in decorating for and celebrating each calendar holiday and Valentine’s Day was no exception. From mid January on, it was all about paper hearts, stickers, and Valentine’s Day themed episodes of his favorite old TV shows.

While shopping at Walmart for the finishing touches on the valentines he was going to mail out, he surprised me with a bouquet of a dozen colorful roses. It was quite possibly the sweetest thing in the world and I just had to share how beautiful they are with all of  you:

valval1val2

While browsing through the Valentine’s Day decor at Walmart, my client “ooh-ed” and “ahh-ed” at everything he found appealing. So, I told him to pick out a small treat for me to purchase for him as a little V-Day gift. He selected his items – some more heart decor and a pair of heart shaped glasses and we continued to make our rounds in the store.

Once we came across Walmart’s aisle way of bouquets, without missing a beat, my friend plucked a colorful arrangement and placed it in his cart. “I get these for you” he said and my heart literally melted. I have never met someone with such a joy for each individual holiday and sharing that enthusiasm with all of his loved ones. It’s simply beautiful and all I need do is think about him to get a smile on my face.

As soon as I got home, I grabbed my spooky vases (Also from Walmart!) and began arranging my flowers. I have them proudly displayed on my coffee table and plan on keeping them there even after they have dried out as a sweet reminder of my friend and his joie de vivre. ❤

What is your favorite kind of flower? What were you treated to on Valentine’s Day? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

February 2020 Funky Time Jams

February 2020 Funky Time Jams

Howdy! We are flying through February and are already onto our second Funky Time Jams post of 2020. Crazy! January lasted forever and February has felt like a whirlwind of work, appointments, and all Super Bowl everything. I, myself, was a huge fan of the half time show and have been on a bigger Shakira kick than usual and have found myself revisiting all of JLo’s classics, too. Let’s get to it:

^^^ And, as always, I have no rights to these songs or videos!!

This month, blackbear’s “Hot Girl Bummer” has been my absolute number one Funky Time Jam. I heard it a few weeks ago on my way to work and it was stuck in my head all day but then I forgot about it. Then, as luck would have it, it showed up on my YouTube playlist and I must have listened to it at least one hundred times by now. It’s so different than the normal pop or rap hits that I’ve heard because of its electronic beat and I am one hundred and fifty percent there for it.

Now, as I mentioned before, I thought the Super Bowl half time show was an amazing success. Normally, not a day goes by where I don’t think about Shakira at least once (lol), so imagine that constant loop going on in my head all day every day post Super Bowl!

Of course, I was thrilled when she began performing Hips Don’t Lie because I’ve always loved that song. And it makes it even more fun to hear it now because when I’m ice dancing the Cha Cha I always skate to it. Hips Don’t Lie and the Cha Cha ice dance music happen to have the same beats per minute and nothing makes me feel more saucy than skating to Shakira. Everyone should try it some time. 😀

What did you think about the Super Bowl half time show? Which song have you been playing on repeat? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

January 2020 Finishes

Hello everyone and welcome to the first Finishes post of 2020! Can you believe that we’re already one month into the new year? Crazy! January has been a very busy month for me and I, for one, am looking forward to things slowing down after the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Thanks to many TJMaxx gift cards for Christmas, I completely restocked my skin care hoard. But, thanks to many agonizingly long days in January, I did not get to pamper myself as much as I would like – resulting in a minimal amount of empties. Check it out:

Would I Use Again?

Why/Why Not?

B&BW Shower Gel: I absolutely LOVE the shower gel from Bath & Body Works. They always smell delicious, they lather well, and a little of it goes a long way. It took me over one month to finish one bottle and you can’t beat that. The Fresh Sparkling Snow scent was so crisp and invigorating that it felt like you were breathing in a gust of winter air every time you popped the lid. This scent is a perfect example of a holiday fragrance that isn’t overpowering and I wish I had more of it!

SkinLab Serum: At twenty-five years old, I figure that it is high time to start a skin care regimen that emphasizes lifting and firming. So, the Lift & Firm Treatment Serum by SkinLab was an obvious choice! I use this serum along with the moisturizer and eye cream from the same line and I have definitely noticed a difference in the tightness of my skin during the past month.

My only qualm with this product is the fact that it runs thicker than the serums that I am used to using. Normally, it takes me over a month to finish one bottle of serum and this SkinLab one was finished in about three weeks. I am not thrilled about that because I like getting the most bang for my buck. However, I have two more bottles to get through and am going to try and ration them better this time around.

SkinLab Eye Cream: The Hydrate & Replenish Eye Cream by SkinLab rocks! I love hydra gel formulas and this cream was perfect for the sensitive skin around your eyes. Despite being in a tiny jar, it took me at least three months to finish it up. It sat so well under makeup and it really did leave the exposed skin around my peepers feeling completely nourished. I would use this eye cream again in a heartbeat.

Although I didn’t have many empties in January, all of them were ones that I was pleased with and would recommend. Now, here’s to a less busy February so I can work in a bit more pampering!

Which products did you finish up this month? What is your skin care regimen like? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Victoria’s Secret Haul

Victoria’s Secret Haul

Hello everyone! Shockingly enough, I had a real hankering to go to the mall this past week. I know, I know – I’m amazed that I didn’t end up at TJMaxx myself! However, I needed some very specific things that I knew could only be bought by making the trek to Summit Mall. I was in the mood to hit up Bath & Body Works’ clearance sale, I was hoping to find something to wear for Valentine’s Day, and I definitely needed some new bras and undies!

Every year and a half or so, I’ll have a Victoria’s Secret haul to liven my lingerie up. There is nothing more boring than wearing the same handful of bras or panties throughout the week and it was high time to incorporate some new ones into the cycle. And, considering how cute everything at VS is, this wasn’t hard to do at all. Check it out:

vs2vs3vs5vs4vs6

In my opinion, there is nothing better or more empowering than knowing that you have a sexy little number on underneath your OOTD. Am I thrilled with how expensive Victoria’s Secret is? No. I spent way more money than I care to admit on the pieces above. BUT, my new purchases made me feel so good that it was one hundred and fifty percent worth it.

I love the feeling of true support that you get from a brand new bra. It makes your clothes look better, your figure look slamming, and you are kept locked and loaded all day long. I am obsessed with my mermaid shimmer grey bra and matching panty and I am really looking forward to breaking out the floral embroidered one, as well. The muted colors somehow work perfectly thanks to the peppy pattern and it will be a gorgeous bra to pair with some white or pale pink lace panties.

And, can we please talk about how cute the bow undies are?! Lol, I just couldn’t say no to them! To me, good lingerie is just as much as a staple as a killer pair of heels or a clutch purse. I already feel so much more confident from my purchases and will definitely be considered tided over until my next haul next year!

Where do you shop lingerie at? How do you get the most bang from your buck at Victoria’s Secret? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Perfect Valentine’s Day Gifts For Your Boyfriend

Standard
Perfect Valentine’s Day Gifts For Your Boyfriend

Hello! Yesterday, we went over some perfect Valentine’s Day gifts for the special ladies in your life and, now, it’s on to the fellas. I, myself, find Valentine’s Day particularly difficult to shop for when I’m in a relationship. I definitely don’t want to go overboard with presents, as we just finished the holiday season. But, I don’t want to purchase too little, either! It’s a fine balance and today we are going to look over a bunch of different gifts for your man for every budget. Let’s get to it:

The Classics:

Who says guys can’t get chocolate, too?! The classics for the girlfriend is often chocolate, flowers, and a bottle of wine. Give these ideas a masculine twist like a six pack of his favorite beer, chocolate with pieces of bacon in it, and beef jerky bouquets… Yes, they are a thing. Or, you could always go to Five Below and grab one of these hunky chocolate bars that I got for my beau:

^^^ Lololol.

Dapper Dudes:

Does your man candy enjoy dressing up or have a unique personal style? Go with this and treat him to a new pair of shoes or a goofy T-shirt. Help him accessorize with tie clips, pocket squares, and cuff links for a suave touch to his OOTDs. Any apparel based gifts will make him think of you every time he wears it, which is the whole point! But, if you gift him with a hoodie it is partially yours, of course. 😉

Sports Fan:

If you’re in a relationship with a sports fan, an ultimate gift would be tickets to the next big game. Ballin on a budget? That’s okay! Plan a night in when the next game he’s interested in is on TV. Provide Super Bowl level snacks, cold drinks, and a positive attitude in case his team is losing!

Memorabilia:

My boyfriend is a music connoisseur and we both have an affliction for movies. So, this is always a safe route to go if your partner is the same way. Snag him a cool new band T-shirt, get a coffee mug with his favorite Star Wars character on it, your options are limitless! And remember, nothing beats a good old fashioned night at the movies, which would be a great choice if a flick he’s dying to see is playing.

From The Heart:

Guys appreciate heartfelt gifts just as much as girls and just might be better at not showing it. Frame some of your favorite pictures together, write a poem, or take him to dinner at the restaurant where you had your first date. There is nothing wrong with going the more romantic route and it could be his favorite gift to date.

Experiences:

Experience gifts often go very well for guys and you could go as big or as small as you wish. How about a weekend getaway in a cozy cabin? A winter hike with thermoses of warm spiced cider? Or maybe a trip to a local museum for your history buff? Either way, you will be sharing in a day together and that is the most special part about Valentine’s Day! ❤

And who says guys are hard to shop for with the tips above?!

What do you like to gift your guy for Valentine’s Day? How do you plan on celebrating this year? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Perfect Valentine’s Day Gifts For Your Girlfriend

Perfect Valentine’s Day Gifts For Your Girlfriend

Hi! Valentine’s Day is getting closer and closer which can serve as a friendly reminder of the love you have for your partner OR that you are truly all alone in this world. 😉 I kid, I kid. Despite having a boyfriend, I think Valentine’s Day is a bunch of garbage and your relationship should be celebrated every day, not just on February 14th.

However, it will be nice to have a special day with my beau and I’m sure that those who are participating in V-Day are looking forward to it too. Frankly, I’d be hyped for Valentine’s Day even if I didn’t have a partner because it gives me the perfect excuse to drink wine and eat chocolate!

Speaking of wine and chocolate, how about we discuss some great gifts for the special lady in your life? And, be sure to tune in tomorrow when we explore some gifts for the fellas. Let’s get to it:

The Classics:

Some will find the gifting of the classics on Valentine’s Day lame or cheesy. However, I would be so amped up to receive sweet gifts like heart-shaped boxes of chocolate, a bouquet of flowers, or a good bottle of vino from my boyfriend. I find that the simplest gifts are the most effective and your ladyfriend will be tickled by the adoring gesture of a timeless variety of gifts.

Pampering, Please:

If you have a hard working, independent woman in your life, a treatment at the spa might be just what the doctor ordered. How about splurging on couples massages? Or a mani/pedi package for your princess? Pop some champagne, relax, and enjoy.

On a budget? No matter! Run a nice, hot bath with rose petals in it, light some candles, and turn on some Barry White. It works every time. 😉

Hopeless Romantic:

If you are overwhelmed with feelings of love for your girlfriend, fiance, or wife and have a way with words, perhaps a poem or a letter would be the perfect gift. Nothing is more swoon worthy than reading all of the reasons why your boyfriend loves you and it is something that you can keep for forever.

Date Night In:

Contrary to popular belief, Valentine’s Day isn’t about fancy dinners and posting your new heart shaped jewelry on Facebook. Rather, it’s about celebrating the bond between you and your partner. If you’re not into the hoopla of V-Day, plan a date night in. Cook a delicious dinner, don’t skimp on the chocolate cake, and play your lady’s favorite movie while enjoying a glass of wine. Beautiful.

Over The Top:

If you have the extra cash burning a hole in your pocket, plan a nice weekend getaway. You don’t have to travel far, two or three hours will do. But, a weekend together in a lovely B&B or hotel to celebrate the holiday is a definite treat. Look into Valentine’s Day suites or packages wherever you are staying for the best deals or a special gift from the location. New York City is a popular option for a getaway as there is just so much to do! You could see a Broadway show, visit museums, or opt for a spot of shopping and bbq in Soho for lunch. Wherever you go, plan at least one special date to truly take your Valentine’s Day over the top.

In this post, we explored different options for every budget to make this Valentine’s Day the best one yet for you and your partner. You’re welcome in advance! 😉 ❤

How are you celebrating V-Day? What are you gifting your loved one with? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Valentine’s Day Card Call To Action

Standard
Valentine’s Day Card Call To Action

Hi everyone! I often see people post different news articles about an individual asking for a bunch of cards in the mail for a holiday or birthday. I used to think nothing of it but, when the holiday season hit, I figured that it was the least I could do to send a little holiday cheer to someone who is down on their luck, struggling, or could just use a smile.

Now, every time I see a post on Facebook of someone with a card request, I happily comply and send some snail mail their way. I also like to publish it on lifewithlilred so a larger, world wide platform can be reached for those who would like to make a Random Act Of Kindness.

A few days ago, I saw a post about a 104 year old WWII veteran asking for an overflow of Valentine’s Day Cards. You can read the full article here and send a card to the following address:

Operation Valentine
ATTN: Hold for Maj Bill White, USMC (Ret)
The Oaks at Inglewood
6725 Inglewood Ave.
Stockton, CA 95207

I hope that Maj. White enjoys his Valentine’s Day and the influx of cards that he is sure to receive. He is going to keep every single one and it makes me happy that one of them is going to be mine! 🙂

How do you do Random Acts Of Kindness throughout the day? What is a Random Act Of Kindness that you have received recently? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

January 2020 Funky Time Jams

January 2020 Funky Time Jams

Howdy! The Roaring 20s are officially among us and, despite a little flu bug I caught, the new year has started out strong. New tattoos, a raise at work, and some exciting happenings coming up on lifewithlilred have me excited to see what 2020 holds for me next. If you’re anything like me, though, you need a soundtrack depending on your mood and January has been full of happy, poppy tunes for me to play as I go about my day. Take a listen:

^^^ And, as always, I have no rights to these songs or videos.

At the end of 2019, I couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing “Roxanne” by Arizona Zervas and I am still not over it, obviously! I listen to it at least once a day because it is so damn catchy and it’s the perfect song to sing along to because of the repetitive lyrics. I drive a lot for my job and nothing breaks up the monotony of being stuck in traffic or driving the same route than a good old fashioned session of karaoke in the Little Red Love Machine!

Roxanne has been my go to to bump in the car or in my apartment but I have also been on the biggest Cobra Starship kick that I’ve had since high school. Don’t ask me why, but for some unknown reason I had the urge to listen to them while I was getting ready for work and that desire has yet to go away. Am I mad about it? Slightly, lol. But, there’s no denying that they had some definite bangers during their run as the scene kid heroes. 😀

What are your favorite songs to play when you’re in a good mood? What is your favorite song to sing along to? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
