^^^ The pasty pale is SO real in this photo and I completely love it!! I also hate to brag, but my lashes look really great in this picture! Applying ten minutes worth of mascara every morning really does pay off apparently! #lashwhore I’m sure you guys have noticed that I wear my black cross earrings in literally every photo I post on here, and that’s because I wear them every single day. These earrings are my all time favorite! Sometimes people ask me “But Sarah, you’re a hardcore atheist, why are you wearing cross earrings?” My reply is always something along the lines of “I like them because they’re edgy and cool and crosses don’t necessarily symbolize religion.” But that’s neither here nor there – the point is: I love these earrings, and until I find a new pair that I’m hopelessly obsessed with, I’ll be wearing them for forever! As you guys have seen from all of my pictures, I am the epitome of “white” haha my pale skin puts vampires to shame. Therefore, I’m on the hunt for a super cute parasol that I can carry around this summer as a fashion statement and to protect myself from the sun. So I need your help…If you know of any cool websites that carry vintage-esque parasols, PLEASE let me know!!! Thanks! 🙂

Helloooo everyone and happy Hump Day! So I was laying in bed reading Still Alice (so far so good, btw!), but I had such a terrific day yesterday that I decided to put down the book and tell you guys all about it. Not gonna lie, my day started out really rocky. I had a not so good appointment with my psychologist that ended with me walking out of the session halfway through. I was pretty much fuming as I left the building and got in the Little Red Love Machine, but my mood instantly did a 180 as soon as I reached my destination point post appointment. I was lucky enough to be able to squeeze in best friend time with my two favorite girls, Kate and Lea, so after my shit show of a session I headed straight to Lea’s for some coffee and girl talk. We hit up Dunkin and made a quick trip to the nearby mall so I could snag a free panty from Victoria’s Secret AND a free lotion from Bath & Body Works…who doesn’t love free?! After my little errand we went back to Lea’s for some much needed girl talk. We made plans for the next craft we make together and my birthday outing, vented about all of our recent turmoils, and had plenty of time to be our usual goofy girl selves. Literally within thirty seconds of first seeing Lea, my mood improved and I was so thankful for it. I needed our best friend time so bad, and I cherish it like no other. Before our time together came to a close, her twin brother BILL (!!!) took a million batrillion pictures of us – some cute, some candid, some completely awful BUT I loved them all! My shitty day turned fabulous continued after I left Lea’s for some best friend time with my other darling, Kate. As soon as I arrived at her house, I learned that we were heading to Target (our favorite!) for some bar cart supplies. We left with a drink shaker kit and some porcupine shaped salt and pepper shakers…they were completely necessary. Once we arrived back at home base, Kate made us the most amazing vodka cranberries I’ve ever had and then we headed to the great outdoors to hijack Boggle from her parent’s house so we could get our drink AND education on in the sunshine. Kate and I both share a deep love for word games, so it was wonderful to have a worthy opponent! Halfway through our extravaganza we decided to finally take the fifty foot trip down the street to this really precious chocolate shop to get some snacks and a chocolate bribe for Kate’s mom so that we could borrow her fancy camera for some photo shoot fun. The chocolate was delicious, the bribe worked, another drink was made, more Boggle was played, and a photo shoot was had. Take a look at Kate’s amazing shots! Honestly, there’s really not much to say about these pics other than the fact that I’m in love with them. And most importantly, this is literally Kate’s second time picking up her mother’s professional camera. What even? Kate has this super human ability to excel at everything that she tries and clearly photography is no exception! These photos are actually the first of many that she’s shown me, because we seriously took a ton – so make sure you keep it posted for more of our photo shoot!
As you can see from Kate’s pics, she managed to light a fire in the fire pit just hanging out in the back yard area of her apartment complex, so naturally we substituted our vodka cranberries for beer, took more pictures, and played more Boggle around the fire. (Due to Kate’s ability to light wood on fire with a candle lighter, I’m convinced that she’d be able to survive Naked And Afraid…she’s a woman of many talents!) Once it started getting chilly outside, we brought our sweet asses back into the apartment for some crafting, Papa John’s pizza, and a viewing of our Netflix favorite…The Ladies Man. A more perfect day could not be asked for. Both hang outs with my two girlies were so special to me in their own unique ways, and I’m so thankful to have two chickas that can shake my bad mood in an instant. Lil Red is one lucky bitch. ❤

Hey everyone and happy Hump Day! So a few days ago when I was getting the oil changed in the Little Red Love Machine, I read an issue of Vogue in the waiting room to pass the time. As I flipped through the pages of gorgeous photo shoots and glamorous clothing, I came across an article about the growing trend of the “clip in” septum ring. When I saw this article I literally laughed out loud and my first thought was “how lame!” My second thought was “stop being a freaking pansy and just get the piercing done!” I mean seriously? Anything “clip in” is for fifth graders. The full page spread on having a fake septum ring mentioned different celebrities that boast the real thing – Scarlett Johansson and Fka Twigs to name a few. Despite how much I don’t care for the big names in Hollywood, I couldn’t help but feel happy that their fabulous selves weren’t above sitting in a chair at a tattoo shop and having their septum get poked through the old fashioned way. If you can’t handle the piercing process, then don’t bother walking around with fake jewelry up your nose to fool people into thinking you’re a badass! The article discussed how convenient it is to be able to switch out your septum rings with new jewelry whenever you please without having to deal with the healing process of a freshly pierced septum. The author then proceeded to show different clip in pieces that started in the two hundred dollar price range and went up from there. How fucking ridiculous. If you went to the shop I go to in Ohio to get my work done, you could get your septum pierced and repierced FOUR TIMES for the cost of one over priced clip in ring. Fucking shameful. As all of you know I have quite the decorated nose – two studs on each nostril and one septum ring for a grand total of five piercings. I’ve gotten pierced and repierced over thirty times in my lifetime, so when I saw the article in Vogue raving about clip in facial jewelry of course I couldn’t help but laugh. For real, grow some balls and just get the piercing done. Let the piercing heal, and change out your jewelry through the hole that’s been pierced – NOT with a clip on!
^^^ Power to the pierced! Another thing that’s really been bothering me in the fashion magazines that I thumb through on occasion has been the many articles and suggestions on how to rock the “punk” look. In almost every photo shoot, clothing ideas, and advice columns there always seems to be only two things: Black and piercings. PSA: There’s A MILLION different ways to sport a punk look without gothing out at Hot Topic or sticking a clip in ring on your nose or lip. Think 90’s grunge. Think a deep crimson lip, a dope pair of cross earrings, or an over sized shirt with the skinniest skinny jeans humanly possible. There’s no need to go overboard like these ridiculous articles are showing you. All of the clothing they feature look more like costumes, and in all reality NO ONE dresses like that. Not even the most hardcore self proclaimed “punks” in the world. You would think that fashion magazines would be more innovative in their ways of teaching their readers how to put together a punky cool outfit. Unfortunately, every article I’ve ever seen has lacked creativity and has stuck with everyone’s obviously false ideas of a “punk” look by drowning their models in a sea of black and an abundance of fake piercings. SHAMEFUL.

I did some cleaning out of my vast closet this weekend and hit up Plato’s Closet this morning to get rid of some of my clutter. The Lux sheer dress is seriously so cute. It looks darling under a black slip and paired with some funky wedges. The gap backed detailing is especially fun and the eyelet button on the back neckline is another sweet little add on. I love fair trade shopping too much, particularly fair trade jewelry shopping as you can see! Nothing is better than buying some great pieces that go to an even better cause. While cleaning my closet this weekend, I went through my jewelry collection so I could try to dwindle it down because it was getting out of control. Despite how cute all three of the necklaces I have up for grabs are, I rarely wear them and they’re just taking up space. Helloooo everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all of the beautiful mamacitas out there!! In one of the local newspapers that gets delivered to my house there was an article recently about Blue, a Goodwill “boutique” in downtown Kent, Ohio. The article mentioned that Blue only carried new and next to new name brand clothing such as Banana Republic, Nine West, Doc Martin, and Guess to name a few. Naturally after reading the article about the Goodwill company’s attempt at a more high end thrifting experience, my mom and I decided that we would love to go on a shopping trip and look around. Yesterday evening we got into the mom-mobile and made our way to Kent to pop some tags at the thrift shop. It took a stop at the gas station for directions to find Blue, because we were driving around aimlessly with no luck for about ten minutes but thankfully we found it after some much needed help from the sweet employee – and let me tell you, I’m so glad we did! Blue Boutique was tucked away in the heart of downtown Kent, and walking into it seriously felt like walking into any other store in the area. It felt clean and crisp, it was well decorated, and most importantly there was an amazing selection of clothes and accessories to look through. When I read the newspaper article about Blue, I felt pretty ambivalent about the shop being described as a boutique, but after taking a quick scan of the store, that’s truly what it was. It had amazing full wall murals of The Beatles, comfy ottomans, vintage-esque mirrors placed strategically throughout the store, cute little knickknacks showcased on table displays, and fun music playing on the speakers. While exploring the boutique and searching through the clothing racks, I was amazed at how “un-Goodwill” the store felt. Blue was so spacious, unlike a normal Goodwill where all of the clothes are jam packed together in endless aisles and clothing racks. But most importantly, the clothing at Blue really didn’t feel like it was second hand. You know how when you go thrifting you can almost always tell that the clothing you’re shopping through has been really worn, is stained, or has an unpleasant odor? Blue was nothing like that. The clothing felt brand new (some of them still had the original tags on it), there were no visible stains, and none of the clothes had a distinctive smell to it. Don’t get me wrong, I love thrifting as much as the next hipster, but it was nice to be in a Goodwill environment that felt like I was in a high end boutique. While chatting with one of the employees, she told me that Blue is very picky about the clothing that they take into their store, and I have the purchases to prove it! Love, love, love! My Esley blazer actually still has the original tags on it, and I’m seriously so thrilled about finding this little beauty! I’ve been in need of a sharp new blazer for ages now, and I finally found one. This little lace number fits like a glove and is a fresh, edgy take on a staple piece. I plan on wearing it to my brother’s graduation this upcoming weekend. And please don’t even get me started on my Nine West peacoat! I’m seriously so obsessed with this coat it isn’t even funny. For one, emerald green is my absolute favorite color to wear. For two, minus the too long sleeves that my mom is hemming, the coat fits perfectly. For three, a Nine West number for fifteen dollars?! Yes, please! And most importantly, for four, this beautiful peacoat reminds me and my family of my beloved late grandma. Every thing about this coat from the color to the classic shape just screams “Grandma Rita” – the most gorgeous, classic Hollywood woman in the entire world. When an item invokes that type of emotion on you, you just have to bite the bullet and make the purchase, and I’m beyond excited to welcome such a timeless piece into my wardrobe.

No blue denim, no other color – just black on black on black. And as you guys also know, I love my H&M black skinnies more than almost anything. So this post is me sending a quick letter of gratitude to my beloved skinny jeans for all of the good that they do and all of the happiness that they bring me. ❤

First off, let me just tell you how much I love you. The day that I bought you at H&M was one of the best days of my life. I’ll never forget the feeling of pure euphoria I felt when I saw you hanging up in all of your midnight black glory. You were SO skinny, SO black, and don’t even get me started on your amazing details like your zippered ankles and quilted knees. It was truly love at first sight. When I tried you on in the fitting room and you slid on like a glove, I knew that we were in for a lifetime of fashion friendship. Thank you for always being there for me – whether that be to make me feel a bit less shitty on a roll out of bed day or to make me feel fierce and fabulous on my days of being a total bad ass. Thank you for making my legs and ass look awesome and thank you for looking amazing with literally every shoe in my gigantic collection…heels, wedges, Nike’s, combat boots, knee high boots, flats, and don’t even get me started on booties! Hot damn! Not only do you look great with all of my shoes – but you literally look terrific with every single shirt and jacket in my vast wardrobe…Tanks, T’s, cardis, blazers, pea coats, trench coats, flowy shirts, tight tops, crops – you compliment them all and that makes my heart feel very warm. 😉 Major shout out to you for not making me look fat, because I’m totally convinced that all bottoms in any other color makes me look like a heifer. And most importantly – thanks for not even feeling like denim, which I’m not entirely sure that you are. You’re sleek, sharp, coated, and the material definitely doesn’t have the feel of blue jean denim which I hate with a passion. I’m not exaggerating when I say that feeling you on my skin is far better than the touch of any asshole man. Men come and go, but a perfect pair of skinnies lasts forever!!! You are perfection, and I’m so happy that you’re all mine.
